Well, folks, I decided to join The Nester's 31 Day challenge! The idea is to pick a theme or topic and blog about it for 31 days straight, starting October 1, 2011.

So, each day for the next 31 Days I will be posting some pretty delicious Thanksgiving/Fall and Christmas treats! There will be old favourites and some new recipes that I'll try just for you and will let you know what my taste testers (ie. family!) thinks of them.

First up we'll have Caramel Dip with Apples! You haven't really experienced fall until you've enjoyed some fresh, crunchy Granny Smith apples with a good healthy dose of decadent caramel.

Apple Wedges with Caramel Dip

1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/8 cup whipping cream
1 cup icing sugar

Melt the butter in a saucepan, then add the brown sugar and cream and bring the mixture to a boil. Remove from heat, let cool and stir in the icing sugar. Beat with wooden spoon until smooth.

Serve warm in a cute little container with fresh Granny Smith apple slices.

To cool your caramel much quicker, put some cold water in the sink and set your pot in the water, being careful not to get any water IN the pot! Once it's cool enough to put your hand on the bottom of the pot, you're good to go.

Dump in the icing sugar and beat the heck out of it!

It's best eaten, with or without apples. Or leave it to cool and you'll have a mouth watering maple-tasting fudge.
