Dhanush bestows his film's title on A.R.Rahman

2013-05-12T22:58:00.002-07:00

The classic love story of Heer and Ranjha is a part of Punjabi folklore. Ranjha is the male lover and he is sometimes referred as Raanjhanaa and that is how the title of Dhanush's Hindi debut gains significance. The character played by Dhanush, Kundan has such an intense love for Zoya, played by Sonam Kapoor.

Dhanush refers to A.R.Rahman as the real Raanjhanaa of the movie as his scores and songs have added so much weight to the movie. He appeals to the audience to see the songs along with the movie to experience the real magic. Dhanush also wonders how ARR is able to provide such spellbinding music to both Tamil and Hindi films at the same time.

STR predicts an increase in Akon's fan-base !

2013-05-12T22:57:00.000-07:00

STR shot for his much hyped 'Love Anthem' with Akon last week in Chennai and he believes that the fan base for this pop icon will increase in Tamil Nadu post the anthem's release.

STR was also impressed by Akon's warmth and co-operative nature as he didn't even insist on any changes in lyrics. Akon found STR's lyrics to be very deep and passionate while STR was floored by Akon's humble demeanor without any starry-airs or tantrums.

Like in other Akon numbers, in this track too, we would get to hear his signature intro-line mentioning him and the artiste featuring alongside (in this case STR), in the same breath.

But much to Sridevi’s surprise, and everyone else at the party, Rajini turned up and lit up the evening with his energy. He was seen sharing a laugh and spending time with the host and her better half Boney Kapoor. The story behind the Shankar-Dhanush project

2013-04-14T11:02:00.001-07:00

Early in 2011 there was a buzz created around the possible teaming up of Shankar and Dhanush. It was before Nanban had commenced that stories of Dhanush being part of that project started doing the rounds. Even though that didn’t materialize the buzz over Dhanush being part of Shankar’s next has surfaced yet again.

Sources say that AGS cinemas are in possession of Dhanush’s call sheet and are keen to share it with Director Shankar. While the combination would have the Tamil audience licking their lips in anticipation, the CEO of AGS cinemas, Archana Kalpathi, has played down the reports as being just mere rumors.

But in all likeliness, Dhanush and Shankar could literally be sharing the same stage very soon as both of them have been invited by Aascar Ravichandran to grace the occasion of 555’s audio launch which is scheduled to take place in a couple of days.

Ajith transcends generations!

2013-04-14T11:00:00.002-07:00

Actress Sridevi, who was recently honored with the Padma Shri award by the Government of India, was recently in the city to take part in a regional TV channel’s special program for Tamil New Year’s day. During her brief stay in the city she spoke of how much she enjoys Vivek and Vadivelu’s comedy and that she could watch the comedy channels all day long.

She said that she had been approached with several offers in Tamil but she’s being very particular about the projects she’s being involved in. On the subject of whom she would like to work with from the current crop of actors in Tamil she replied without hesitation that it would be Ajith Kumar, who made a gracious appearance in her comeback film English Vinglish.

The admiration for Ajith always seems to transcend generations as newcomer Rejith, who will soon be seen in director Vikraman’s film Ninaithadu Yaro, looks upto Ajith as his role model in the cinema industry. Rejith is an engineering graduate who will be making his debut in a project helmed by Vikraman after quite an hiatus.

Vikram's new look for 'I' spotted !

2013-04-14T10:57:00.001-07:00

As always the case Shankar has been closely guarding the details of his under production film, ‘I’, that stars Vikram and Amy Jackson in the lead. There have been several reports that have emerged regarding Vikram’s various looks in the film. It has been reported that Vikram’s character will be seen completely beefed up in one portion of the movie, while another half of the movie will shown him with a leaner physique, warranting a rapid loss in weight from the actor.

Now it has been brought to Behindwoods’s attention that Vikram was recently spotted in the city with a completely shaved head, leading us to believe that the tonsured look too is going to be part of Shankar’s ‘I’. While the story of the film is anybodys guess, the various getups of Vikram alone are proof that ‘I’ is going to be yet another ambitious project from Shankar.

Vijay's plans after Thalaivaa and Jilla

2013-04-08T23:05:00.002-07:00

Junior NTR’s recent Baadshah, is turning out to be a record breaking blockbuster worldwide ever since its release on the 5^th of April. This Srinu Vaitla movie has been acclaimed as a perfect mass entertainer with ample doses of action, comedy and good music by Thaman.

Naturally buzz about the Tamil remake of Baadshah is high and PVP Cinemas have procured the Tamil remake rights of the movie. None other than Vijay is touted to reprise Junior NTR’s role in this flick.

The star is expected to take a call on this once he returns from Australia. This flick would kick-off only after Vijay completes Jilla and industry sources aver that there is a high probability that Ilayathalapathy would do this film.

Kajal Aggarwal was the eye-candy in Baadshah and it must be seen if she would pair up with Vijay yet again after Thuppakki and the upcoming Jilla.

A special dance theme for Vijay

2013-04-08T23:04:00.001-07:00

Composer G.V.Prakash who has been signed on for Vijay’s Thalaivaa is busy composing a dance theme music for the movie. Given Vijay’s all too familiar dancing expertise, this theme is sure to be a treat for Vijay’s big fan base.

Currently the shoots of the movie are happening in Australia and Vijay is expected to return to India around the 26^th of April. Director Vijay has been wrapping up the movie at a good pace and it is expected to release within the next few months.

Thalaivaa is pushing Vaalu further

2013-04-08T23:03:00.002-07:00

We have got a status update from Simbu’s Vaalu, directed by Vijay Chander. The climax portions and five song sequences are left to be canned in the movie. In all, another 20 days of filming are scheduled to take place but the Vaalu team is being held up by the absence of Santhanam.

The 'comedy super star' is currently in Australia shooting for Vijay’s Thalaivaa and after he returns, the climax portions of Vaalu would be shot. It seems there is a special comedy sequence featuring Simbu, Hansika and Santhanam in the climax and the director is eagerly waiting for 'Santa' to return back home. These sequences would be canned in a temple.

Vaalu is being planned for an August 15^th release as of now after being initially slotted as a Diwali 2012 release.

Nayanthara comes free of charge

2013-04-08T23:02:00.004-07:00

Nayanthara’s special dance number for Ethir Neechal has been well publicized and her moves along with Dhanush are expected to create a celebratory atmosphere in theaters. Siva Karthikeyan, who plays the lead in the movie, hasn’t participated in this song and he was just an observer on the sets when this number was canned.

Another interesting fact is that Nayanthara didn’t charge a single penny to dance for this song. Apparently her friendship with Dhanush is strong enough for her to forgo the monetary aspect.

Ethir Neechal, produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films, is expected to release on April 26^th

Director Vijay to turn assistant for the 100th

2013-04-04T11:35:00.002-07:00

Famed filmmaker Priyadarshan had heaped praises on director Vijay by saying that there have been nearly a hundred young assistants who have worked with him but he is particularly proud of Vijay and what he has achieved.

Reacting to this, director Vijay, who is currently filming Thalaivaa with Ilayathalapathy Vijay, feels extremely flattered by Priyadarshan’s compliment and expressed his gratitude towards his 'guru'. Their first halt will be at New York where they hope to finalize a few tunes before they embark upon a cruise from Florida, making pit-stops at Haiti, Jamaica and Mexico to compose the remainder of the material. The landscapes surely ought to serve as an inspiration to the music director Harris Jayaraj who promises a more rocking album than KO.

Harris Jayaraj also says that he has plans of using new instruments to bring about a different sound for the music of this film. Also some big names from the American rap industry are being considered for collaboration.

The film is expected to have adequate doses of romance and good music. A Mumbai based model named Hebba Patel is also being introduced in this film and she is understandably thrilled about the grand scale of the movie and her costumes in particular.
