so much of our life we walk through it by the guides and expectations of others. this helps, and builds us into the people we are, but when does it become a challenge for us to overcome? your emotions are to look like this, your relationships will develop like that, don't do this because, you should feel like that, etc.

i think as i trudge through some firsts at the age of 31, i am ripping out some of the expectation. i imagine myself pulling at them like pulling seaweed from a treble hook. you know, when you cast out and think you have a fish, but all you pull in is seaweed. there is something we assume is to be attached to these expectations, and yet they come up with something else attached, or even empty.

what does life look like coming at it without expectation, without assumptions? does this set me up for failure? does this remove our guardrails that are in place to save us?

so far life hasn't met up to what it should look like. instead of others expectations and experience i am going to trust my gut.

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

george lucas and the story-telling arts

The Lucas Cultural Arts Museum will be a center highlighting populist art from some of the great illustrators of the last 150 years through today’s digital art used to create animated and live-action movies, visual effects, props and sketches. They’re all united by their ability to capture our shared cultural story—from Rockwell’s pencil sketches to computer generated moving images. More than just exhibiting illustration and technological innovation, this cross-section of art can help to describe and define our culture—its past, present, and future. It provides a unique way to see what’s emotionally important to us as a society and how we communicate those feelings without words. The best way to truly understand art is to experience it.

...i have not been unlatching my creativity lately.

tisk, tisk...

so, for motivation i have compiled a list of 5 things i MUST do before the new year comes.

1. PAINT!

so i am ashamed i haven't pick up a brush for...i can't say it...over a year. i am ashamed so please don't remind me. remind me to paint, but not how long it has been...

2. go to a concert or music festival

something else that has been a few months since...what can i say, life has been borning...but oh so NOT boring.

3. write a poem

okay, this one is WAY out of my comfort zone. AND if i want to get really crazy that means i have to post it...should i get crazy???

4. sketch

sketching is the exercise for art. without out sketching your craft dies. mine is dying...

5. learn a FULL song on my guitar

no, i will NOT post that. see my face? bright red! yea not so great with the amount of nerves involved in public performance...not great...not great...

what are you going to do to get your creativity unlatched?

let it loose!
