Digital Princess Scrapbooking Paper

I'm trying to get back into scrapbooking...as if I have any more room on plate for something else. I created these papers. They are high resolution so they are fine for printing. They are 12x12, but of course you could make them into any size square. Feel free to pass this alone to your scrapbooking friends, but please just don't pass them off as your own creations. DIY Rapunzel Wig

I loved Disney's new Rapunzel braid they have for sell, but didn't like the $20.00 price tag. So I figured I would make one myself :) It was really quiet easy.

Items needed: One thing of yarn, 2 yellow rubber bands, scissors, purple flowers, purple ribbon, and a hot glue gun.

Me and two of my girls worked as a team. I pulled the string out, Allison would cut it, and then when I walked back to grab another piece of string Macey would hand it to me (which prevented me to have to squat down each time, which was nice)

It ended up being too long, and too thin, so I cut it in half and it was perfect. Sorry I didn't measure how long the string was.

I tied off one end and began to braid it. At times I had a "Tangled" mess (pun intended)
but just go slow.

That's pretty much it. I tied off the end then fit it around her head and tied it together. Add some purple flowers and ribbon and there you go.

O.K. so that's a crappy picture, but I liked how the Toy Story ball is in the background ;)

Make your own Toy Story ball

Macey only asked for 3 things last Christmas, a Toy Story bowl, Slinky Dog, and the famous Toy Story ball. Well that was easy enough, right! WRONG!

The ONLY Toy Story ball I found was on ebay, and it was going for $40.00. I wasn't going to spend that.

I figured surly I could make one. I did a search on how to go about painting on a rubber ball.

Here are the ingredients

First thing you need to do is, well find a yellow rubber ball. I thought this was going to be the hardest part, especially seeing how I went shopping for it just a few days before Christmas Day. Luck was on my side. I found one at the very first place I stopped. Academy Sports, or is it called Sports Academy? I can never remember. It cost me $5 bucks I think.

You first must rub the entire ball with rubbing alcohol. I found that sitting the ball on a cup worked pretty well. Then sprayed it with a plastic primer.

The ball I got had a design pattern on it which made it really easy to line the blue stripe around the ball.

Then I made a star template on the computer and printed it out. I wished I had saved it so I could post it, but I didn't.

I outlined it with a red thin sharpie.

After everything is painted and dried. I coated it with a flat sealer. I must have done about 5 or 6 coats with it drying between coats. It's been several months since I made it. It has held up pretty well, but even with the sealer the paint has chipped off some. I plan on touching it up soon :) Oh, and mine has never been out doors. I don't think it would last long outside. But all in all it looks pretty darn good if I do say so myself. :) It sure beats paying $40.00 bucks for one.

Pixie Party

It's hard to believe that Macey is now 4 years old. She wanted to have a Tinkerbell party. :D

I was pretty happy with how the invites turned out. I used a Tinkerbell sticker, but really wanted some dimension to her wings. So I removed the wings off of some Dragon Fly scrapbooking stickers and applied it to the Tinkerbell sticker.

I opted to not make her cake this year. It took off so much of the pressure, and I think the lady did a fantastic job on it.

I had this little lantern and got the bright idea to add a flamless candle and sticker a little Tinkerbell in there. I thought it made for a cute center piece.

I had fun decorating the gift bags with flowers and glitter glue.

Macey woke up that morning to a brand new kitchen :)

I couldn't resist the urge to enhance her costume a bit. I add more tulle to the skirt and add the two pink flowers you see in the picture.

I love the time and effort my friend put into the gift wrapping.

Lot's of cool stuff.

I made these pom poms from tissue paper, and hung them from the ceiling.

She had a wonderful birthday!

I am attempting the 365 project...you know where you take a photo every day for one year. Even though I love to take photos, it's gonna be a challenge. A BIG challenge. It's even a bigger challenge to keep up with my blog. I've been posting my photos on facebook, but I've decided that I would try to post here on my blog as well so the non-facebookers can see them too. It just seems so much easier to upload them to facebook. Hmmm, I'm actually gonna have to back track in order to start from the beginning, but that is o.k. since I haven't made a blog post since Christmas.

Here is my first 365. I didn't decide to do the 365 project until Jan. 2. Had I decided on the first of Jan, I would have taken a different picture. I'm just glad that I had indeed taken a picture on Jan 1, b/c I don't think my OCD would have let me start this project on Jan 2...

Pumpkin Picking...

Yes, I'm pretty late on posting these pics. In fact I'm late on posting a lot of pics here lately. And why am I posting these at 1:00 in the morning when I have to get up bright and early for a yard sale in the morning???

I hope that my kids look back on the simple memories we've made and are making and that it makes them so happy that they will tell their kids about them one day.

Macey had a cute "little" pumpkin that still got too heavy for her to tote. That or either she just used that as an excuse to not have to carry hers...which wouldn't surprise me ;)

(and yes my hubby wears his wedding ring, it's just on his right hand b/c he has lost so much weight it doesn't fit his left hand any more. I am thankful that it means enough to him to at least still wear it some where :)

Not that any of you probably would have even noticed!

Often times I have thought about how neat it would be to live out in the country.

I love how the guy who was cutting our pumpkins off the vines (is that what you call it) gave us long stems on the pumpkins. It gave them some character.

We met up with some friends. Pumpkin picking is more fun with a buddy.

This photo makes me think about how dirty our car would be all of the time if we lived out in the country.

Sea Shells and Sand...

...Up close and personal.

I thought it would be neat to bring home a little bit of the beach with us from our trip to Florida during Labor Day weekend.

But then I couldn't help but to play with it, just like I would if I was at the beach :)

Sea shells are beautiful!
Did you know, that most sea shells housed some kind of animal, and when they die, they wash up to shore. However, when you buy them at the store, they most likely have been caught alive and killed/cleaned out to sale. :(

Probably just like this little guy here. We had a really hard time finding shells on this trip, and we did buy a few at the store. I read up on shells AFTER we got back.

Sand can be very mesmerizing.
Seriously, I found myself playing with it more than photographing it. But photographing it can also be mesmerizing :)

This makes me wish I were back at the beach with my family.

Our Trip in a Nutshell!

Waited til the very last minute to pack, like at 11p.m. the night before.

Left 2 hrs. later than planned.

I drove all the way there, ONLY because it made my hubby smile.

Discovered my son has to potty sooner than anyone else and obviously has a small bladder.

Stopped twice with 4 kids in the car on a 5/6 hour trip.

Stopped at Whataburger for lunch.

Had a crazy/homeless?? man asking my kids if they were going to finish their food...he wanted it!

As crazy as he seemed, my son gave him his fries and I gave him a cookie.

Then we got out of their ASAP.

Went to the beach around sunset and had fun taking pictures.

Was bummed that I forgot my tripod back home.

I had intentions of taking lots of family shots on the beach.

The last time I was at the beach I was prego and didn't know it.

But not this time!

Enjoyed a very nice meal at Olive Garden...my dad's treat!

Realized at 10 p.m. that I didn't pack any pull-ups and forgot the men's deodorant.

Left the kids with my dad and went to Wal-Mart.

Came back home with all kids passed out except for........little Mae Mae of course :)

Went back to the beach early the next day.

Macey wasn't terrified of the ocean at all!

When I want a picture of myself, Allison is who I get to do it for me.

Didn't listen to my body, and stayed about an hour too long.

Most of us got sun burned.

Did a little souvenir shopping.

My dad grilled some Elk burgers.

I did not like the taste of Elk.

My hubby did though.

Drove around and got the kids some Snow Balls (sno cones)

Found a Krispy Kreame, and my son thought it was cool that they had a drive thru.

Madison fell and hurt her knee:(

Headed back home a few hours later than planned.

My original idea was to stay until Tuesday.

But, my son wants to try and get perfect attendance at school.

Hubby drove all the way home.

Stopped pretty early on b/c Mae Mae had to poo poo.

Found a gas station, but Mae Mae did NOT poo poo.

Labor Day traffic was horrible!

The ride home was really boring.

Listening to Bon Jovi, and Michael Jackson livened things up a bit.

Loves listening to my hubby sing. He has a really nice voice.

Had Taco Bell for super.

My hubby told the Taco Bell worker that he was "super duper"

Got home around 8:30.

Just in time for the kids to go to bed :)

Spent $230.27 for the whole trip.

Not sure if that is good or bad considering we had no lodging expenses and most of our food was free.

Glad to be back home.

Thank you Lord for getting us their and back safe and sound.

Sesame Street Cupcakes-ROCKS!

My sweet little nephew is turning two. I got the job of making his cake this year as I did last year too. I'm starting to see a cycle, Lol. These were soo fun to make. Took longer than I thought but very fun. My girls even helped me some too.

I used a star tip for Elmo and Grover and the hair tip for Oscar and Cookie Monster.

Notice how much better Elmo looks when you get the eyes right.

Don't they look fun and colorful!

Ooops, I forgot to put Elmo on a "pedestal" haha

Which is your favorite?

For what ever reason...Cookie Monster was the funniest to make. Everyone in my house says that he was their favorite too.

When ever I make cakes I ALWAYS make a huge mess...and that BUGS me! This is exactly how my brain feels sometimes with my all my ideas. I have sooooo many thoughts and ideas in my head that I want to do, but then they get all scrambled up inside and I only get half of them done. I took some snaps of my cleaning up process. Cause you know there was no way I could post a dirty kitchen w/out posting a clean one too:)

Well that's it. Hope the little guy enjoys his cupcakes, but the reality is, he probably won't even touch them...LOL you would have to know my nephew:) But that is quiet all right. Happy Birthday Zeke.

Toy Story 3

Today we went to our mall to see Toy Story 3 in 3-D. They had activities planned for the kids and a costume contest as well. It wasn't until after midnight last night I decided I wanted Macey to wear a costume. I actually thought it would be pretty easy since my 11 year old was Jesse for Halloween NINE years ago. I had everything I needed except for decorating the shirt. I thought to myself oh, this want take long. And really it didn't except I did this while I should have been sleeping. I think it came out all right. Thank heavens for hot glue guns :) I was very happy that I didn't purchase a thing for this costume! Except for the hat, but I bought earlier that day before I ever had a costume in my mind, and it was only $5.

It amazes me how creative use start to be come at 2 am with less than 6 hrs. to create this all while missing sleep:) I used the kids play money (coins) for the "buttons" and cut/glued paper circles out on top. Some yellow felt, red ric rac, and hot glue I had a shirt. The hat was pretty easy, I just thread yarn through the hat. I had NO white ribbon so I used elastic for the white band.

When I saw the adorable little Etch a Sketch and Mr. Potato Head I knew who had first and second place for the costume contest. I thought Macey had a chance for 3rd but wasn't sure. To my excitement she took 3rd place and received 2 free movie passes to see the movie :) YEAH!! for her.

She had fun playing the games.

3 must have been the lucky number today :) We saw Toy Story 3, Macey is 3, Macey won 3rd place, and in the theaters they gave out prizes if you could answer Toy Story trivia. The question was how many eyes to the aliens have? They picked Macey and she held up 3 fingers and won a 3 eyed alien.

Today was a blast! All worth a sleepless night!

Disney Tips....

I've been asked by several different people for some Disney tips. I am by no means an expert, but I have learned a few things. I thought rather than answering everyone separately I would write a post and share it with everyone. Hope you enjoy them and I especially hope that some may come to use for you. I love to talk Disney with anyone, so if you have any questions then feel free to ask away.

This may be a no brainer, but if you are driving, a stop at McDonald's or a picnic at a gas station, can make a world of difference in your little ones for the long ride. Our trip was a little over 10 hrs. and our 3 yr. old doesn't do well being strapped in for long periods. Being able to get out and run really helped.

I pack my kids outfits in 1 gallon zip lock bags. It makes unpacking in the room soooo easy and fast, plus you can write on there what day the kid is to wear it. It makes is really easy in the mornings for the kiddos.

Those cute little towel animals the maid leaves for you are meant to take home. I promise, you don't have to sneak them out, they expect you to take them home. *don't forget to tip your maid* ;)

You can go up to any counter service and get free ice water. If for some reason they turn you down, just go to the next one. We got lots of free ice water while we were there. Sure does beat the warm faucet water.

Bring some spray bottles. Those feel sooo good and the ones they sell in the parks are $17. Trust me if you don't bring your own, you will be soooo tempted to buy there's.

For sure bring sunglasses, but in my opinion if you want a neat and useful souvenir, I thought their prices weren't too bad on the glasses. Plus most of them have a Mickey icon on them or say Walt Disney World.*note...we lost 3 pairs of sunglasses while on our trip.

No matter where you are, park, resort, down town, etc. when leaving one place to go to another, expect for it to take an hour and a half to get there. They tell you this on the buses, and it's TRUE!!

Try to get there at park opening or shortly after, it's not as hot nor as crowded. Then head to the back of the park first. Your wait times will be about 10 min. GRAB your fastpasses then! Toy Story Mania had a 2 hour wait time and the fastpasses were all gone by 11 am.

Also, when entering a park start at your left the crowd typically starts right.

During the hot part of the day go back to your resort for a swim/nap, or if you don't want to leave the park, it's the perfect time to do some of the indoor shows.

If anything you buy in the parks breaks, tears up, or gets lost, find a cast member or go to a store that sells the same item and they will almost always replace it with no questions asked, and no receipt. This goes for ponchos as well. So even though you can purchase ponchos cheaper some wear else, if you have to wear them several times during your trip, your almost guaranteed to rip one or all and will need to buy more. So I actually recommend to go ahead and buy the Disney ones only if you need them, then you know that they can be replaced anytime during your trip if they need to be.

Don't rush your kids through the characters. Let them have their little moment with them and soak it ALL in.

Don't be afraid to ask, ask, ask. whatever it is. You'll never know unless you ask.

Ask for stickers and coloring books at the concierge and check in desk...they're FREE!

Before you leave home fold up some paper towels and squirt some dish soap on it, then place them in a zip lock back. They are perfect to use in the room to wash out your refillable resort mugs.

Place a zip lock bag in your pocket so you will always have a safe place to store your camera/video camera for those Fl showers or wet rides.

If you are staying at a Disney resort and you have purchased the park hopper option (which I recommend, it's about $50 bucks extra per person for the whole trip) I found it easier to plan most of our day and meals at the park without Extra Magic Hours (only available to Disney resort guest) then park hop to the park with the extra hours only when the extra hours start. The reason for this is usually the park without EMH is less crowded, however once EMH start then only resort guest's can ride the rides.

Eat at off times when possible to avoid the mass crowds. We found that 11 am was a really good time to do lunch no matter where you are. Or if you want a late lunch, 2 and 3 o'clock was pretty calm too. As far as supper goes it's almost always busy, but I would try to avoid the 6'ish range.

Pre order the Disney Photo Pass CD it's usually $99 if pre ordered and $150 if you buy it after your trip. Take advantage of their photographers they have EVERYWHERE. Ask them if they can do any of the character photos. When you get the CD they'll look something like this...

Then when you get home you can go to the site and add fun stuff to them like this...

Collecting the pressed pennies is fun. It takes .51 cents. Buy those mini M&M's in a tube. The tubes are perfect for storing the quarters in for the pressed penny machines as well as for laundry money.

If you plan on sending out post cards, do it your first night. It takes forever for them to get to their destination.

If you see something you like/want don't tell yourself you'll get it later or on your way out. You never know what the rest of the day holds. If you want, get it then. If you are not checking out the next day you may have it delivered to your room or at package pick up at the entrance. That way you don't have to tote it all day long.

There are sooooo many strollers at WDW, tie a bright colored scarf or something to help make yours stand out so you can find it easily. And don't be alarmed if yours is not where you left it. Many times CM have to move them. Just ask one that is close by where they might have moved it to.

By all means if you have a little one that is too small to ride a ride. Use the parent switch system. Just tell the person at the entrance that you need one (make sure that your spouse and little are close by so they can see them) That way when you get off the other parent gets to go through the fast pass side.

Don't forget to set up a wake up call for your room. Put it on speaker so your kids can hear it.

Looking for hidden Mickey's is fun and free.

I'm the type of person that loves to be prepared for anything, but WDW is not the place, lol. Pack light for the parks. You'll be glad you did later.

You can't leave without getting a Pineapple Dole whip.

Can't remember where I got this but here is a list of the parks on there less busiest days.
Sat and Sun is the busiest for traveling.
The crowd level for all 4 parks are the same for Sun. and Mon.the numbers were the same for each park.
Tues - MK less crowded EP most crowded
Wed - EP less crowded DHS most crowded
Thur - EP again MK most crowded
Fri - AK less crowded DHS most crowded
Sat - DHS less crowded EP most crowded.
Now don't hold me to that, but it does make since to me.

For a neat souvenir, go to City Hall at MK and purchase some Disney Dollars. $1 disney dollar cost $1 regular money. They are very cute!

Well there you go. There's my 2 cents. Hope this helps anyone who was interested. Again, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Don't forget that Disney World is HUGE, really HUGE. You won't even come close to getting it all done so don't even try. Be prepared for some let downs, but don't let it get you down ;) You're gonna just miss a character you really wanted to see or miss a show, or a ride that you really wanted to do will be closed, but don't let it spoil your trip. AND, don't forget to take in the small things and really really soak up the "magic".

Oh, yeah, all toilets at WDW are automatic flushers and they are LOUD! If you have a toddler and don't want them to be terrified of Disney toilets, then I've heard that placing a post it note on the sensor will eliminate that and you can control when it flushes. --- I could have used that with my 3 yr. old...NOT b/c she was scared, but b/c I was tired of her getting MAD at me, thinking that I beat her to it and flushed it before she got a chance to.

And for Heaven's sake, if you have young kids...even in elementary school, plan your vacation during a less busy time. Yes, this will mean that you have to let them miss a week of school, but I have found that most principles and teachers will work with you. It's a cooler time to go, it's cheaper, and it's less crowded.

Are We Home Yet?

After a 10 night, 11 day trip to Walt Disney World, we are finally on our way back home. As much as I love the "world" I am so ready to be home. The last few days have been the roughtest. Last night especially. We stayed til park closing...BIG mistake!!! I'm glad we got to see wishes, but OMGosh! Getting through all the people and standing in line for our bus took soooo long. Not to mention the fact that we had not had our supper yet. We got to our resort about 15 min. before the cafeteria closed. Bathes and all the packing had to wait until morning (check out day)

Rough it was, but we got it done. Went back to Magic Kingdom after check out for some last minute shopping.

For what ever reason hubby's ticket was being denied, he managed to get in anyway and no one noticed...not sure that is a good thing or not, LOL.

Then Madison walked right out of a store today with a stuffed animal in her hand (un paid for) Yes we went back in a paid for it :)

and my feet hurt, I forgot to pack my tennis shoes. All i had was Crocks, Teva's, and sandal's all week. I'm ready for some socks and tennis shoes.

Hopefully I'll get to blog about our trip soon. I'm sorry if this post seems a little spaced out, that's how I feel right now. And using a laptop in the car isn't easy nor comfortable.

Can't Catch Up

I've missed so much blogging, I can't even begin to try and catch up on what all has been going on. And I don't have much time to even blog now. We are on VACATION! I thought Maybe I can blog a little and it could help serve as a place for me to jot down notes from our trip. It's not as easy to add photos away from my home though. So I may have to do most of that after we get back.

One of the best part was Macey walking down the streets singing It's a Small World. :)

Butter Cream Icing

Macey's big day is tomorrow. I thought while I was sitting and taking a rest from getting party stuff ready I would post the recipe for icing I use to decorate my cakes. It's pretty simple and it comes from Wilton.

~ 1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening

~ 1/2 cup butter (I use stick butter)

~ 1 tsp. CLEAR Vanilla Extract

~ 4 cups (1lb.) sifted confectioners' sugar (I don't sift)

~ 2 Tbls. milk

Cream butter and shortening with electric mixer.

{It's more fun if you have a helper} :D

Add Vanilla.

Gradually add sugar, one cup at a time.

Then clean up the sugar you spilled. Add the milk in last.

Don't forget to taste it and make sure it taste GOOD!
