Music downloading is here to stay, it's legit, it's legal, and everyone is doing it. The internet is a disruptive technology, and music downloading was the first real poster child for all that disruptive behavior. Apart from a few unmentionable topics, music was and still is one of the biggest looked for and downloaded items on the internet. And just as well it should be. It makes perfect sense. It fits, it's convenient, it better for the artists, and in the long run, better for the consumer. The only guy it's not great for, is the big money middle men. But hey, they had their chance and blew it. More on that later.

Long Live The Nobodies

Indies are the heart and soul of the music world. At one point in time every musician was an indie looking for their big break. They did what they did for the love of their art. Because it felt good. Along the way some found their big break, lost their soul, and sold out. You know the ones. Their the ones whose first big album was great, and all the rest sucked. Some got their big break, and stayed true to their art, and kept their soul. They just keep cranking out great music for years on end. The internet loves indies. It's the great equalizer. I am going to give you my quick and easy recipe for putting your favorite music on your PSP. There are only a few steps and it is a cinch on you know how.

1. First off you need to get what they call a cd ripper and while you are at it I would definitely grab a psp video converter. A cd ripper lets you pull music (rip) of your cd's
that you have now. The psp video converter will let you rip and convert video files to watch on your PSP...so you can watch and listen to music videos and music, cool heh!

2. Load your cd and fire up your cd ripper select the song or songs you want to put on your PSP and hit the "extract and encode" to PSP.

3. If you already have music files on your pc then all you need to do is hit "add" from your cd ripper or psp video converter.

4. Make sure on all of the above you select the "PSP" format.

5. How to download or transfer your music to PSP? Just connect your PSP with your PC with the USB cable, and copy your mp3 file(s) into "H:PSPMUSIC" where H: would equal the drive of your PSP.

That's it. It is real simple to put music on your PSP!

iTunes takes the lead in online music market with 66.2 percent share. The competition might be too tight among these online music sellers but iTunes got the biggest percentage in the market share on the second half of 2010.

Taking the second spot is Amazon with 13.3 percent. Apparently, there's a huge difference between the top two competing online music stores. From 63.2 percent last year, iTunes's market share has augmented. Amazon had also increased its market share from 11 percent share in 2009 to 13.3 percent in 2010. The figures were announced by NPD Group, the research firm who checked the sales of the competing digital music stores.

United States Department of Justice was even reported to have probed Apple for accusations that iTunes had been suppressing recording artists and known record labels to strangle the competition against Amazon.

The intervening of the Department of Justice plus Amazon's promotion called "Daily Deal" seemed to not affect iTunes' increasing market share. Amazon's Daily Deal gives discounts on albums of best selling artists. When iTunes released the Beatles' entire catalogue ($1.62 per song, $17.99 per album), Amazon released Kid Rock's recent album priced at $3.99 on the same day the Fab Four's collection was launched.

However good this Daily Deal is, some music labels raise the probability that these discounts may cause the public to look down at the worth of their products. Another problem on the software-to-market strategy might have caused Amazon to keep up with iTunes climbing market share. Apple has iTunes software-iPod gadgets tie up while Amazon's MP3 store only markets its products through emails and via Twitter. The latter's Kindle e-book reader is being marketed greatly over TV commercials though.

Albums on iTunes are normally priced at $9.99 or $14.99 each although there are some with rates lower than the stated usual cost. On the other hand, with its Daily Deal, albums on Amazon are often available for $3.99. There could be quiet a difference in terms of album rates but not in terms of the pricing per single. Songs on Amazon are usually sold at 99 cents while singles on iTunes are sold in three prices - 69 cents, 99 cents, or $1.62.

So it's a battle between who sells cheaper? Not really. If what you want is being able to choose from a wide array of songs and albums, iTunes will give you that for it has a more extensive collection than Amazon. Primarily because it has started its digital music store in 2003, four years earlier than Amazon's launch of its online music market in 2007.

Amazon has another setback in terms of maintaining its market weekly. It could only keep 6 to 10 percent of its market while iTunes maintains up to 90 percent. With the intense competition among digital music stores and how it collectively contributes to the growth of online music market, nationwide CD sales unfortunately slithered 20% for 2010.

As Apple's hardware keep on making massive sales, its music software continue to thrive in the digital music market race. And it's still taking the lead.

Most people listen to music or the radio when they are driving around town or on road trips. Which, it may not all be the same music, since everyone has different tastes, but everyone can agree that some of the best songs to listen to in the car are songs about cars or driving. Some of these songs are classics, and some are ones that only a handful has ever heard. However, these songs can put you in the mood to take a road trip or even to get you going on the trip to work.

The first song is 'Hot Rod Lincoln' by Charlie Ryan. This song is about a guy and his hot rod Lincoln, as the title suggests, that he races around in with his friends. Eventually he gets arrested and his Pappy has to bail him from jail and says "Son, you're gonna drive me to drinkin' if you don't stop drivin' that hot rod Lincoln."

'Mustang Sally' by Wilson Pickett is next on our list. Even though Wilson Pickett was not the first person to sing this song, he is the one who made it popular. The song is about a girl who lives life on the wild side and travels around town in her new Mustang. She is warned to slow her mustang down, meaning she needs to slow down her life and not be such a wild child.

One song about driving that is a classic is 'Route 66'. Originally sung by Nat King Cole, this song has been redone several times and has been a favorite stand by for movies that involve road trips or driving. My niece loves Indian films and Indian film music. To her, as to most of the world, this exuberant, colorful, romantic and just-plain-fun genre is summed up in one word: Bollywood.

I confess that I've become taken with Bollywood as well, though not to the same extent as my niece, who owns a number of Indian movies and regularly rents others. The Bollywood well is so deep that I have to confine myself to watching those few of its productions that bubble up to catch the attention of American movie reviewers. Otherwise I would be lost in Indian ocean of unfamiliar movie titles, actors and actresses.

My niece also collects CDs of Bollywood music. There's an Asian market near her home that offers a cornucopia of them. But she has the same problem choosing CDs to buy that I do deciding which Bollywood movie may be worth my time. Unless she's seen the film from which a soundtrack derives, she's usually in the dark as to whether a particular CD's songs and artists are ones she will enjoy.

At her request, I set up a way for her to preview a variety of Bollywood songs and even to live with them on her iPod for a while, all for free. This way she can make informed decisions about which CDs she ultimately purchases.

First, I searched for Indian music Web sites, and specifically for those devoted to Bollywood, or at least modern popular music (as opposed, say, to classical Indian ragas). I found several good ones, with names such as Bollywood World and India FM.

Most of the Web sites I found offered song samples, meaning 30-second or 1-minute snippets. Some had full audio streams that allowed the visitor to listen to continuous Bollywood music for as long as she or he might want. It was these latter that provided the first half of our solution.

Normally, streaming audio, such as what you hear over an Internet radio station, cannot be saved or downloaded. New software, though, makes it possible to record the stream to your hard drive for replaying as often as you like.

Even better, some of the newest audio capture software incorporates something called an mp3 splitter. This software is able to break the audio stream into separate mp3 song files. By the way, this is perfectly legal, because you're simply recording a broadcast, the same as when you record a TV show on your VHS. Voila -- we had the second half of our solution.

Between the audio streams and splitter/recording software, we created our own virtual Bollywood mp3 download sites.

Now whenever my niece is in a mood to explore the latest tuneful offerings from Bollywood, she clicks on her favorite Indian-music Internet radio station, then starts the recording software. Pretty soon she has enough Bollywood mp3s to shuffle through for the rest of the week, and she's almost guaranteed to find two or three that will spur her to make a trip to the CD bin down at the Asian store.
