Typhoon Ondoy in philippines

Typhoon Ondoy hit really hard metro manila in philippines. Most afected areas are cainta, pasig, marikina , mostly rizal province but some part of manila and Quezon city are flooded too. I'm trying to call my family for 2 days now but i can't get hold of them, maybe the phone line is dead because of high water the same as they cut off th electricity. My aunt in California have a chance to talk to my mother before flood water get high. The last time she talk to them the water just hit their living room. They live in a 2 story house which is higher than other houses in their subdivision. My mother even let neighbors stayed in their house because they live in a ranch/bungalow house and the water already reach their windows. It's good my mother have a second floor for them to stay and put their furniture from the lower level where the flood already reach. Anyway i just hope and pray everyone in my family and friends (i have friends in rizal province too) are all safe and in good health. Be safe everyone and have a blessed Sunday!

The weather is changing now,it's a bit chilly and summer will be over soon. It's been raining to a few days now. I'm not really looking forward to a cold weather soon. Cnn money top 100 best small town to live

The city or town that we live is been on cnn money top 30 best small town to live. It's great to know that we live in one on the nicest town here. It's a city outside Kansas city,mo -smaller city than Kansas city. It's great town with great school parks and not too much traffIc , shops and restaurants are everywhere now! The city really got hundred years old historic homes that pretty great to see. I like to own one someday but we just build our home nearly 4 years ago so it will take a while to get that old historic home maybe when the kids are older and can help to move our things:)!There only few filipina i know who lives here but the filipino store are just 15 minutes away. and My friends just like in the nearby towns. I got some pictures that i like to share from out town. The city hall/ downtown area, my son school, community center, the subdivision we live and community center. We are back for our vacation in florida. We went to magic kingdom in disney world, and our hotel is near old town Kisseemee which is a carnival with lots of rides too that my son enjoyed so much. And we went to cocoa beach just an hour away from orlando. We went to cocoa beach pier , and daughter love the sand and chasing all the birds. I also met some filipinas and we talk to each other for a few minute because i need to watch my daughter and my hubby is watching our son because the beach got some waves and my son like to go and be on the waves.Disney world is really crowded for the 4th of july holiday. It took us forever to get inside a ride and show which my son loves so it's worth to stand for a long time. The parade and fireworks are great. It just getting out of the park take us too long because of too many people. We wen back to the hotel before midnight.

And we stayed to Nickelodeon hotel, my kids love nick character so i booked us for character breakfast to see them. It's a bit pricey for me because we are not breakfast family:)! 8:10 am is too early for us to eat:)! but that the only available time so i took it. It's food is ok! for the price i expect more:) but dora and diego was there. And the hotel got a really great water park with lots of slide. My son and i went and get to big slide a few time. It's lot of fun. And after seeing some attraction in Orlando we drove about 7 hours to my friends house near Pensacola and stayed in Pensacola beach. The hotel we stayed is beach front and next to a restaurant with great crabs. The beach has a white sand almost just like in boracay. It's great to see my friend and met her son too! It's a tiring but great vacation. I will post some pictures later. Have a great day !!

summer florida vacation

My family will be having a summer vacation in Florida. I'm planing where to stay, where to eat and what attraction to see. And of course to visit the beach for a few days too. We also going to see my friend and her family and to see her new son... I'm planing we will go to Disney world and sea world. And my kids loves nick shows especially dora and diego so we are going to stay in nickelodeon hotel too!! I bet they will love to see all the cartoon characters. I know we will be a great time even it's hot and humid there, they just need more sun block they not used to heat not like me:)! I hope that we will have a safe and happy trip soon... 1st school bus ride

My son started his 1st day of summer kindergarten. Our school district have a program so the kids will be ready for their next school year in fall. My son 1st school bus ride is a bit nervous more for me. Of course as a mom I'm worried if he will get off in the wrong bus stop but i know the driver will check her list to make sure student will be on their right stop. And also they have a name plate for the 1st week to wear where it has their name, teacher and bus number. The bus driver seems nice too! This is just the first time he been away that long and ride any vehicle on his own. My hubby said he's a big boy he will be fine! but of course he's still my baby boy:)! Today is a great day no tears:)! He's happy to tell his story on what happen at school. I asked if his teacher and new classmate are nice to him. He said they all ok:)!I hope and pray that his good experience today will continue until the end of the month and when he start regular kindergarten in fall. It's getting hot in here! can't complain i like it better that winter... Anyway i hope everyone have a great day!!

It's saturday again, i'm planning to go to the filipino store later to buy rice and some filipino grocery. The weather sucks today. It's raining so even it's not cold anymore my kids can't play outside. We are waiting so long to have a nice weather and enjoy the spring weather already. I have a fish that i need to cooked, it's from the filipina i met during kindergarten roundup here. She said they went fishing and she caught it. And another new found Filipina who live near me drive and bring the fish to my home, Thanks guys!! Anyway i wish everyone have a great weekend!!

kindergarten roundup

My son will start kindergarten this fall. He grew up so fast. We went to his school kindergarten roundup to enroll him and to tour the school and the kinder classroom. It's a good experience seeing what it look like and we expect for his daily activities in school. We meet the school staff and kindergarten teachers. So far it look good. We also enroll him to attend summer school for almost a month in June, his school have this to prepare kids who will attend regular school in fall just to be familiarize and be ready in kindergarten. I think this is great for him to know and see what he will attend for regular school. We suppose to go to florida/disney world for vacation in June but i guess it's more important that my son will be prepare and ready for his school first:)!I'm thinking to move it on July. Anyway i hope everyone will have a great Sunday!

Spring finally starts today!We met my friends Juliet and her daughter yesterday and our daughter a good day playing in the play area in zona rosa. It's a great sunny day but a bit chilly and windy. And we went to Chinese stores in river market. That store is really big and lots of asian food including filipino. I got some filipino vegatables like upo, sayote and green and yellow mangoes. I ate some yellow magoes and it's sweet and taste almost the same in philippines. Anyway i hope everyone enjoy their day. I', really looking forward to spring weather and plants some flowers in our yard!

We finally have a great weather that we can go outside without thick coats. My kids really enjoyed playing in our backyard in their playset and driving their truck. It a great day just a bit windy but typical for weather for march. I'm really over with this winter and snowy months. I'm looking forward for spring already. And plant new flowers and plants. But as of last night we have severe thunderstorm and heavy rains. I guess the cold days are back again:)! Anyway i hope everyone have a great sunday!

ginataang hipon for lunch

I was craving for some Filipino food a few days ago and i just look what i have in my fridge and pantry to cook something quick. It's great i have ingredients to make ginataang hipon (shrimp in coconut milk). I found shrimp, garlic, onion , ginger, coconut milk, squash and eggplant. So i cooked it all together and make a great dish with my steam rice. It taste like what my mom will make in pinas but her's a bit better because she put labuyo in it and i don't have it here. Anthony Bourdain No Reservations on the Travel Channel finally went to Philippines. I'm a fan of the show, tony is like the rock star of food critic:)! He's been to almost all the Asian's country but not in Philippines It's great that they air the show last night. i already know that tony filmed the show several months ago by reading one of my favorite food blog in Philippines. Overall the the show is great, what i most like is when he said the Filipinos are damn too nice:)! I just hope they have more time to explore more part of the Philippines and experience a lot more cuisine that other provinces offers.I like that he went to dampa. And tried some street food but not much like Bizarre Foods With Andrew Zimmern when he visited Philippines. Anthony Bourdain No Reservations- the Philippines captured the Filipinos love for food, the hospitality for guest and of course the most important sharing it with family and friends. LOST with pinoy touch

Finally one of my favorite show come back. Lost make the followers like me more confuse and think about what happen on their last episode to really get what's happening to the series. On the last episode i got surprise to here tagalog words while desmond is running and looking for the doctor who help his wife to have his son charlie. And it's great to see filipino flag and have mabuhay word in it:)! It great to see that filipino has been part of the show even for a few minutes:) i bet some of the writers have Filipino blood on them:). The story still make you wonder more and really wait for each episode. Anyway i hope everyone have a great weekends!!

We celebrated my daughter 2nd birthday yesterday. I mostly cooked all the foods. We only invited few guest, we have my daughter's godparents family and 2 family with daughters too and my sister and her hubby come down from Omaha! It's a great day not too cold so the kids had a chance to play in th backyard. I like to thank all our guest for coming and for all the gifts. Here are some pictures from yesterday.. It's finally 2009! my family spend our new years eve and day just in our home. We plan to go to a mass at the Filipino community center in Kansas city it starts at 10 pm . It's a bit far from our house like 45 minutes away. But we did not make it there because my daughter is not feeling well and my kids are already sleeping before the mass start:) they are a bit grumpy when they don't make it to their bed time:)!!
anyway we just watch the new years eve show from new york in tv. It's still great to just stay home and spent eve with my family. On the following day we went to this play place with lots of inflatables called fun-run near our house so my kids can play! it's too crowded with the kids still out of school.anyway i wish everyone to have a prosperous new year!!
