Zvishane Baptist church prophet sodomises congregation

A self-styled Zvishavane Baptist church prophet allegedly sodomised a church mate after he had invited him for bogus prayer sessions before forcing another one to masturbate him and threatened them with death if they ever divulged their secret to anyone. The prophet Kennedy Kudzai Zvirawa (24) appeared before Zvishavane magistrate recently and pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him.

Circumstances surrounding the matter are that some time in October last year, Zvirawa approached his first victim and told him that he was possessed with evil spirits so he was supposed to come to church for prayer sessions. The complainant went to the prophet’s house where he found him in the company of other church members. At around 9:30pm Zvirawa asked the church members to go and sleep as he wanted to conduct a private prayer session with the complainant.

Zvirawa instructed the complainant to go to a certain room where he followed and ordered him to sleep in the bed that was in the room. The prophet then switched off the lights and joined the complainant in bed. He started caressing the complainant’s thighs. The complainant asked the prophet if that is how prayers were to be conducted and he was threatened with death.

The prophet allegedly went on to remove the complainant’s pants and sodomised him. The prophet repeated the act on different occasions until the complainant’s workmate noticed a change in complainant’s behaviour and that is when he revealed the incident.

On another day it is alleged that Zvirawa invited his second victim to his house saying he wanted to hold prayer sessions. The unsuspecting victim went to the prophet’s house and upon arrival he was instructed to caress Zvirawa’s manhood as it was part of the prayer session. The complainant masturbated the prophet until he ejaculated and he was then ordered to go back home. In his defence Zvirawa told the court that he did not and would not do that as he was a man of the cloth.

“Your worship, I did not do anything to these men and I would never do such a thing as I am a prophet. This is just a result of politics within the church. The church recently split and these men are just sent by other church members to tarnish my image”, he said.

Magistrate Tavengwa Sangster presided over the case and Sheila Mupinga prosecuted. The trial continues.

Steward Bank legal head humiliated by protesting journalists

Angry journalists yesterday humiliated Econet Wireless and walked out on the mobile phone operator’s business unit, Steward Bank legal head Mr Tawanda Nyambirai at a Press conference called to clarify Thursday’s raid of a business news agency’s offices.

The placard-waving scribes, some of whom had their mouths tied to symbolise violation of Press freedom, demanded an apology from Mr Nyambirai for invading the newsroom of The Source on Thursday, before proceedings could start.

He refused to do so and all hell broke loose when he was about to go into his prepared speech as journalists broke into song and dance in protest.

“Don’t gag the media”, “Say no to corporate bullies”, and “Press Freedom is a Constitutional right” read the messages inscribed on the placards.

Earlier on, the journalists had refused to partake in a prayer that had been requested by a Steward Bank staffer contending that Econet officials, police and Deputy Sheriff officers had not opened with a prayer when they invaded The Source.

Chaos reigned supreme as journalists and Mr Nyambirai clashed openly, with some journalists flying placards in his face and telling him to “Stop It!” in line with a phrase coined by the First Lady Amai Grace Mugabe when she attacked corrupt elements in the country.

A provisional High Court order granted by Justice Joseph Musakwa last week empowered, Econet officials and lawyers, the Deputy Sheriff and security agents to invade The Source’s premises in central Harare, ransacking the online publication’s computers and extracting information from e-mails.

Econet risk officers, instead of the Deputy Sheriff, did most of the searches and in some cases opened e-mails that had nothing to do with their case in a move described by Government and media representatives as a threat to media freedom and freedom of expression as guaranteed under Section 61(1) and (2) of the Constitution.

Justice Musakwa ordered The Source, an affiliate of the Thomson Reuters Foundation, to “delete and expunge” two articles the online publication recently published about Econet and its banking unit Steward Bank. One of the articles titled “Debt-distressed Zimbabwe moves to reschedule domestic debt” claimed that Government had borrowed $30 million from Econet, disbursed through Steward Bank, in a deal brokered by Mr Nyambirai.

The article claimed that Mr Nyambirai pocketed a substantial facilitation fee for brokering the deal. The other contentious story alleged that Steward Bank was considering swapping residential stands worth $2,1 million to recover funds borrowed by a property mogul Mr Phillip Chiyangwa. The Source, through their lawyer Mr Chris Mhike, raised constitutional questions and sought to have the matter referred to the Constitutional Court. Judgment on the application had not yet been delivered.

Yesterday, journalists could be heard shouting: “Nhasi mari yako haishandi Nyambirai” (Your money is of no use today, Nyambirai), and, “How do you feel if your e-mail asking about the facilitation fee is opened.”

Mr Nyambirai tried to explain to the journalists that the documents used in the stories were stolen, but the journalists would have none of it and walked out.

He said: “The information was private and confidential and it related to the private business transactions of the clients of Steward Bank. The banker-client relationship is a relationship in utmost good faith. As much as you have freedom of expression we also have our freedom and privacy.”

One journalist replied: “With the behaviour you exhibited, you are the least qualified person to talk about freedom.”

Zimbabwe Union of Journalists secretary-general Foster Dongozi said Econet had become arrogant and considered itself so big that it could trample on everyone’s rights. Mr Mhike said they would wait for their urgent application to have the matter referred to the Constitutional Court.

“I have just indicated to Steward Bank and Econet that we are very open to resolving this squabble in a more amicable fashion,” he said.

“We do respect the court processes that are ongoing at the High Court and hopefully soon at the Constitutional Court, but at the same time, as those developments unravel, there is always room for the parties to discuss and resolve the matter.”

MISA chairman Kumbirai Mafunda said freedom of expression and Press freedom were “the life blood of democracy” and should be respected.

Bulawayo vegitable venders scramble for water from corpses

Bulawayo- Business to a halt in Lobengula Street in yet another disgusting disclosure, as four Lobengula street fruit vendors hospitalised each other over corpse water that disappeared before sharing.

The Four, Dumisani Sibanda, Thabiso Tshuma, Melody Mloyi and Monica Mlilo, fought a vicious bloodbath of blows, after the latter accused one of them of stealing corpse water that was acquired by Thabiso from a Kelvin Industrial Funeral Parlour.

The development brings the total number of named-and-shamed corpse water crooks to nineteen (19) after fifteen (15) others were arrested in separate incidents last year.

The water according to other vendors who refused to be identified, is needed to create their business-charm, to attract clients, so they buy their fruits and vegetables. They sprinkle the water that would have been used by undertakers when bathing the deceased at their funeral parlours.

"If you buy corpse water sprinkled fruits, you automatically become a permanent consumer, as this will force your heart and mind to look for me," said a vendor who was identified by others as Na-Nomsa, who plies her vending business in Bulawayo's Lobengula Street.

Thabiso refused to comment on the cause of their fight, that brought business to a halt in Lobengula Street, but she became arrogant and threatened this journalist with assault by her bouncer boy-friend who works at a Bulawayo night club.

But Melody opened up and revealed their source of corpse water in anger. "We contributed $70 to buy corpse water from Mthandazo Funeral parlour, for business, but Monica and Thabiso opted to steal the magical water for their use, forgetting others who contributed," she shouted on top of her voice.

Last year, 15 vendors were reprimanded for public fighting over the ware, and they were handed a final warning by their Association for the offence of using corpse water to lure clients.

When reached for comment, Mthandazo Funeral Parlour Manager in Kelvin, Mr Killian Nkomo, dismissed the allegations as malicious.

"This is malicious and total fabrication. However, we will investigate the issue, with our undertakers, as this is not for the first time to hear such accusations from vendors and the public."

But the Vendors and Informal traders Association National President, Edward Manning speaking to ZimEye.com confirmed the existence of the deals between vendors and funeral houses undertakers. "This has been happening, and we warned our members against using dirty charms on innocent and unsuspecting clients as this is a health hazard," he said.

He added: "The four fought over corpse water and we have issued them with a final warning, this time we are going to chase them away from Lobengula Street for their evil doings," said Manning who appeared visibly angry.

Mutare family endured painful sexual encounters with a snake

A Zimbabwean granny's more than two decades ordeal of being sexually abused by a three-metre-long python on a daily basis finally ended recently following the killing of the reptile. The horrific incident, which reads like a fairytale, occurred in Headman Chipfatsura's area under Chief Marange, in Manicaland Province's Marange area and is still the talk of the drought-prone rural community.

The grey-haired Willie Mutasa (78) confessed that the python was now a thorn in his flesh after acquiring it as a magical charm from a Chipinge-based traditional healer around 1973.

Apart from having sex with Mutasa's wife and daughters, the snake would suck their blood, resulting in inexplicable deaths of two of his daughters. After numerous failed attempts by different religious persons, the reptile was eventually captured and burnt by Kutenda Kwavapostori Church founder Bishop Trynos Mapuranga recently.

When news crew visited the Mutasa homestead on Monday, Mbuya Mutasa (59) confirmed that the snake would sleep with them on numerous occasions, leaving them with swollen thighs, while private parts were left red.
She even explained the modus operandi employed each time the snake wanted to have sex.

"My son, we went through a torrid time over these years. I came into the Mutasa family in 1976 and the ordeal started only a year after. When it all started I thought I was responsible since I was also into traditional healing, but I was later convinced that it had nothing to do with my calling as a traditional healer.

"I had 15 miscarriages during that period before I later got help and gave birth to six children — two boys and four girls. Two of the girls died in unclear circumstances, though we now know that the snake would feed on their blood.

"One of the children died in 2002 and the other in 2013. Many strange things would happen here. For example, the snake would come and immediately transform into little goblins and take turns to have sex with us. Before having sex, the goblins would entice us with small things like guavas and one would get confused, sleep and the next thing the four goblins are done with you.

"They would leave us the next morning with swollen thighs, while private parts would have turned red. What worried us most is that whenever we told my husband he was unperturbed and at times would demand to have sex with me even in that state.

"The only good thing is that we have never seen anything strange happening after the snake was burnt and we hope it is now a thing of the past though it caused a lot of damage to the family," she said.

Her husband Mutasa confessed that he went to a traditional healer called Chinyamunhuwira in the Checheche area of Chipinge South where he was given three sticks that latter turned into the reptile he could no longer handle.

"Way back in the early 70s, I went to Chipinge together with other boys. Our mission was to pick cotton at farms in the area, but one day we connived to go and get ‘muti' from a traditional healer who was popular in that area.

"My main aim in consulting the traditional healer was to do away with the spirit of my late wife which was giving me a torrid time and I wanted the traditional healer to turn the spirit against those who killed her. Apart from that, I also wanted to be feared.

"When we got to the traditional healer's place, we were given different tests. Mine was to get into a granary naked and spend the night there and never to walk out no matter what comes inside during the night.

"During that night, big fleas came from nowhere and started feasting on my body. It was quite painful, but I was determined to last the distance and I did. When the traditional healer came the next morning he was shocked to find me in the granary and then invited me to give me what I wanted.

"He then gave me three sticks which I was instructed to depose at my late wife's grave and I did just that. It was in 1973. When I went home after deposing the sticks at my late wife's grave, I then found a thick wooden rod that latter changed into a snake. At times the snake would change into a bird or a hyena. Many strange things happened here since then, but I cannot say all one by one. At times there would be light all over at night," said Mutasa.

Although those in the know confirmed that he used to feed it with maize-meal after some of it was found at the entrance of a hole it used stay in, he said: "It used to survive on its own. I never gave it anything, although it belonged to me."

His wife said most of her groceries would not last long.

"Each time I bought a carton of sugar it would not last more than three weeks or when we went to the grinding mill to have our maize processed, the maize-meal would not last more than three days yet we have never lived here in large numbers," she said.

However, the remorseful Mutasa said he regrets ever having consulted that traditional healer since he gained nothing apart from impoverishing himself over the years.

"I have seen the bad side of kuromba. I have never known how it feels to be paid lobola, despite having sired beautiful daughters. I have since lost two of them. My sons are mentally retarded; even the one aged about 13 cannot write his name. I have lost nine beasts since I started trying to get rid of the paraphernalia I got from that traditional healer. I cannot stop anyone from doing what I did back then, but I can only advise them that they will be doing it at their own peril," he added.

Zimbabwean Social worker embroiled in bestiality encounters

A Zimbabwean social worker is in big trouble after videos of sex acts with animals were found on his phone. Detectives swooped on social worker Clayton Chigoya's home in Slough after receiving a tip-off he had received indecent images of children on his mobile phone.

A total of 19 electrical devices were seized including a damaged HTC phone which contained 404 videos on its memory card including seven portraying sex acts with animals. Other examples of horrific pornography included two sexual scenes with children believed as be as young as three years old. A jury at Reading Crown Court was told that the extreme pornographic videos portrayed various sex acts with animals including a horse, eels and a large fish.

Prosecuting, Russell Pine told the court two of the animal sex videos had also been forwarded on to other numbers from Chigoya's phone. Mr Pine added: "You were part of a group of people who had a similar interest in these sorts of videos weren't you? "Is it possible you watched them and thought they were a little interesting and maybe a little bizarre but no harm in it?" Chigoya, aged 47 years, denied five counts of possessing extreme pornographic images and two counts of possessing indecent images of children.

The father-of-three, of Gatwick Close, Slough, Berks., claimed that he had never seen any of the seven the videos, which were sent through WhatsApp messages. However, he did admit he had previously watched animal porn films but blamed his faulty phone for receiving and sending messages he claimed he had no idea about.

He said: "They were sent on my WhatsApp. When I saw them, I deleted them but not on this particular phone we are talking about. "I have never in my life requested any videos with animals. It is not because you want to watch it or request it, it is just sent around." However, the jury found Chigoya guilty of all of all seven counts following the three-day trial.

Chigoya, who was suspended from his job working with vulnerable adults and children as a social worker following his arrest, was released on bail to appear at the same court to be sentenced in May. Express

Joyce Mujuru blasts Zanu and Mugabe over loss of vice President post

Ousted Joice Mujuru says she feels used and abused by President Mugabe, his wife Grace and their supporters who have called her names and hounded her out of her position.

Speaking to the Independent, Mujuru said she and her husband the late retired army commander General Solomon Mujuru backed Mugabe and other senior party members who arrived in Mozambique from 1975 onwards from prison to intensify the liberation war against Ian Smith's Rhodesian regime. "We (together with Solomon, her late husband who was a retired army commander) and others were used as their ladder to the top and now we have been discarded like scrubs (cleaning items)," Mujuru said.

"But I don't feel hurt by the persistent attacks directed at me by both President Mugabe and his wife because the person they are describing is not me. Actually, I feel embarrassed on their behalf because that is not the way I was brought up."

Mujuru said she is, however, pained by the way Mugabe and others are treating her after her sacrifices to liberate the country and service in the government. "I crossed into Mozambique in 1973 to join the war and people like President Mugabe, Edgar Tekere and Oppah Muchinguri later came in 1975 to find us at the front. Everyone knows this, including VaMugabe. The General (Mujuru) asked me to help people like Muchinguri because she did not want to be with us in the camps," she said.

Despite that Mugabe ganged up with his wife and supporters to attack and abuse her at the height of Zanu PF's vicious succession battle, Mujuru says she bears no grudge against them and those who ascended at her expense.

Mujuru was replaced as vice-president by Justice minister Emmerson Mnangagwa. Her allies were ruthlessly purged from party structures and government. The witch-hunts continue unabated. "I have no hard feelings about what they (Mugabe and others) did to be at the top. God made it so … God is the reason why even in pain I smile, in confusion I understand, in betrayal I trust and in fear I continue to fight," Mujuru said.

Mujuru's allies, former Zanu PF heavyweights Didymus Mutasa and Rugare Gumbo, however, say Mugabe, Mnangagwa and others rose through blatant subversion of the party constitution and related processes. They are challenging the legality of the Zanu PF congress and its resolutions in court.

Asked what her future political plans are and if she would contest in the next presidential elections in 2018 since many in Zanu PF say she has a huge social base and following, Mujuru said: "Only God knows. I am not losing any sleep over that. Even President Mugabe always says that leaders come from the people."

Mujuru says despite all the attacks, she remains loyal to Zanu PF as she served the party since she was a teenager and was ready to defend herself before its relevant structures or in any court of law so long as due process is followed.

Commenting her relations with Grace and Muchinguri, the main architects of her dramatic downfall, Mujuru said: "I have nothing in common with her (Grace)," adding, "Muchinguri knows the role I played in her life to be where she is." Asked what was happening on her alleged corruption investigations, Mujuru said only her accusers and indicters should be able to answer that.

"They (Mugabe and Zanu PF) should have an answer to that question. Why would they be scared of an ordinary, simple widow like me to whom they can say whatever they want when they want to?" she said.

Zimbabwean economy worsen as foreign investment declines

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Zimbabwe continues to decline as the economic crisis worsens.

Figures show that FDI declined from $400 million in 2013 to $372,6 million last year. According to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) statistics released this week, the depressed FDI has worsened the country’s liquidity situation.

“Net foreign direct investment decreased to $300,6 million in 2014, from $373,1 million in 2013. Receivables decreased from $400 million to $372,6 million, while payments increased from $27 million to $72 million,” the central bank said in a 2014 inflation report.

The decline in FDI comes at a time other countries such as Mozambique and Zambia are experiencing strong economic growth due to increased FDI inflows.

A recent report by the International Monetary Fund noted that on a cumulative basis and compared to other countries in the region, Zimbabwe’s FDI inflows amounted to $1,7 billion over the period 1980 to 2013, whereas, Zambia and Mozambique received $7,7 billion and $15,8 billion, respectively.

Experts blame policies such as the seizure of white farms to resettle blacks and, latterly the drive to localise ownership of all major firms, for Zimbabwe’s poor performance in the FDI stakes.

President Robert Mugabe’s government, however, blames western sanctions, imposed on him and his inner circle over allegations of electoral fraud and rights abuses, for the country’s economic woes.

The RBZ noted that similarly, net portfolio investment flows declined to $96,3 million in 2014, from $114,2 million in 2013.

“Receivables decreased from $283,3 million to $270,7 million, while payments increased from $169,1 million to $174,4 million in the same period. The low FDI and other external inflows conspired to dampen economic activity, with knock-on effects on incomes, aggregate demand and declining prices,” said the RBZ.

Central bank governor John Mangudya recently said the government was committed to sound policies to boost FDI inflows, which peaked at nearly 20 percent of the gross domestic product in the 1990s.

“We are anxious to ensure that Zimbabwe benefits from the quantum leap in economic development in line with the rest of the region and also to benefit from the increased foreign direct investments that is coming into Africa which increased by almost seven percent to $52 billion in 2013,” Mangudya said.

“This trend is increasing and Zimbabwe should also benefit. It should not be left behind. Zimbabwe is committed to join Africa in the Africa rising campaign by pursuing credible economic policies for the eradication of poverty and the increase of the welfare of the population,” he added.

Grace Mugabe to replace ousted Tendai Biti in parliament

Zanu PF hawks have reportedly started pushing for First Lady Grace Mugabe to contest the Harare East constituency, formerly occupied by MDC Renewal secretary general Tendai Biti who was also Zimbabwe's Finance Minister during Morgan Tsvangirai's tenure as Prime Minister.

This comes amid predictions by analysts that the MDC-T dominance in urban seats was under threat as Zanu PF was working on grabbing the opposition seats following the recent dismissal from Parliament of 21 MDC Renewal MPs.

The Standard reported that the recall of 21 Renewal Team MPs has created room for Grace to contest Harare East and speculation is that she is amenable to the idea.

Zanu PF officials said the Godwills Masimirembwa-led Harare provincial executive and the Godfrey Gomwe-led provincial youth wing — eager to please the First Family — had already started moves to approach Grace to convince her to stand in Harare East.

Grace, who is the party's Secretary for Women's League, was now reportedly ready to become the Minister of Women's Affairs, currently vacant after Oppah Muchinguri was moved to the Higher Education portfolio.

"We are being told the move to urge Grace to contest the Harare East seat is being pushed by Harare province. But on the other hand, we are also seeing the First couple's own aides and a few other party heavyweights quietly toying with the idea of her contesting," said a senior Zanu PF official.

"So at the moment it is not yet clear whose idea it is, whether it is Grace herself or other people bootlicking the First Family."

Zanu PF national commissar Saviour Kasukuwere yesterday could neither confirm nor deny Grace's interest in Harare East.

"Is that what you want to speculate? Anybody in the party can be a candidate anywhere," Kasukuwere said curtly.

Masimirembwa also said the province had not started the identification of candidates yet.

"We don't have candidates for the seats in Harare yet as we wait to get direction from the national leadership. We want their direction on the matter," Masimirembwa said.

Grace's candidature, insiders say, cannot be ruled out as speculation has been high since December that she would join her husband's cabinet after her ascension into the politburo. However, her handicap has been her lack of a parliamentary seat which is a pre-requisite for one to be a minister under the Constitution.

Grace was last year endorsed as Zanu PF Women's League boss after she was reportedly approached by the then outgoing Muchinguri executive and war collaborators. But it turned out that Grace herself, with the support of a few party hawks, engineered her political rise which coincided with the fall of former Vice-President Joice Mujuru.

The former VP was viciously attacked by Grace who accused her of corruption and of trying to topple Mugabe. The First Lady has rapidly grown to be the kingmaker in Zanu PF following her appointment as the Women's League boss at the disputed December 6th national congress. Other seats to be contested include Harare East, Kambuzuma, Kuwadzana, Glen View South, Dzivarasekwa and Highfield West.

Zanu PF officials yesterday said the party was determined to get all the seats in Harare and will leave no stone unturned to achieve this.

"If we managed to get Epworth, Mt Pleasant and Harare South in 2013, what can stop us now? We will get all the seats this time around," said an official.

Chaos at high court as late Mujuru's second wife fights for share of the estate

Master of the High Court Mr Eldard Mutasa has given the late General Solomon Mujuru’s lawyers five days to submit a will the late veteran politician and national hero left in their possession. It emerged in a stormy edict meeting yesterday that Gen Mujuru left a will in which he named his lawyer, Mr Thekor Kewada of Scanlen and Holderness, as the executor of his estate.

Vice President Joice Mujuru’s lawyer Mr Addington Chinake yesterday told the meeting that his

client’s husband left a will. This was after children — the majority born out of wedlock — through their lawyers, had unanimously moved for the appointment of an independent executor of Gen Mujuru’s multi-billion-dollar estate. Gen Mujuru had four children with Dr Mujuru.

It also emerged during the meeting that Gen Mujuru was a polygamist, also married to Faith Mujuru nee Juta, meaning there are two surviving spouses. Ms Juta is mother to Tendai who is leading the fight to ensure that all Gen Mujuru’s children, including those he adopted, receive their share of the estate.

Ms Juta said she married Gen Mujuru on March 18, 1981 under the customary law and divorced him in 1993. The couple, she said, reconciled in 2008 at the instance of the Mujuru family. At the time of Gen Mujuru’s death, she said, she was staying at the family’s Ruwa Farm.

“We were staying as husband and wife until his death. It’s an open secret. I have witnesses to that, including Gen Mujuru’s eldest daughter Maidei here present,” she said. So far, 13 children were yesterday accepted to be Gen Mujuru’s on the basis of their birth certificates bearing the name of the national hero as the biological father.

All-in-all, the late General had around 20 children, with the other seven likely to be identified soon. Tendai told the meeting that the children were coming and would ensure that they were located. He hinted that all-in-all they could be more than 20.

“The deceased left a testamentary writing in that he approached Mr Thekor Kewada a senior partner at Scanlen and Holderness as the executor,” said Mr Chinake. The announcement drew the ire of the children who questioned why it took Dr Mujuru four years to notify the Master of the High Court of the existence of the document.

“Why are we here when there is such a document? The purpose of this meeting is to choose the executor and why wasting our time?” queried a lawyer representing one of the children, Tendai. Other children joined in and started accusing Mr Chinake of injustice and unfairness.

But the children continued with their barrage of attacks on the lawyer, who then threatened to leave the meeting.“May I be excused?” said Mr Chinake, leaving his chair to walk out of the meeting.He was stopped by the Master Mr Mutasa who insisted that he should not prematurely abandon the proceedings.

“But I cannot allow myself to be abused by these children. I have done my part in giving vital information needed in this matter.” After hearing submissions from all the parties, a resolution on the way forward was made. It is ordered that Mr Kewada submit to the office of the Master, a testamentary writing left by Gen Mujuru by Friday next week. The latest being at 4pm,” said Mr Mutasa.

“If he fails then the court will proceed to choose an independent executor of the estate.” Mr Mutasa said if the alleged will was found to be valid, it would be accepted. Once he receives the will, Mr Mutasa said the children would be shown the document and be given the platform to challenge it if they so wish.

The children requested the Master to treat the matter with urgency, arguing that most of the children were living in abject poverty following their father’s demise. Turning to assets, the children said their father had properties strewn around Harare, Bindura and Sadza.

Some of the major properties are houses in Borrowdale, Bindura, a shopping complex in Warren Park D, Trojan Mine, River Ranch Mine, Ruzambo Farm in Beatrice, Kulmic Investments and other various movable and immovable properties. The children hinted that after the death of their father, Dr Mujuru initiated the processes of transferring some of the properties. They asked the Master how he was going to deal with such conduct.

“That is the job of the executor to carry out investigations on everything that had been said in this meeting,” said Mr Mutasa. “If there is anything criminal, it will be dealt with accordingly. All that will come out during the executor’s investigations.”

On the paternity issue, Mr Chinake informed the meeting that it was a matter for the courts. Gen Mujuru died in an inferno at his Ruzambo Farm in Beatrice in 2011 and was declared a national hero. His estate is believed to run into billions of dollars.

Gweru pastor nabbed for possessing illegal ivory and croc skins

A Gweru based pastor was last month nabbed in Gokwe together with three accomplices after allegedly being found in possession of ivory, crocodile skin and 30 live rounds of ammunition. Pastor Garikai Masunda of 72 Brunkanhurt plots in Gweru was arrested together with Chipo Bridget Tinago (29) of 92 Mutondo Street, Mufakose, Harare as well as Gerald Sinyoro and Tamuka Madavanhu of Gokwe.

Prosecutor Tineyi Tirigo told the court that on 12 February at around 3pm, a patrol team comprising Zimbabwe Republic Police and members of the Zimbabwe parks and Wildlife Management Authority were on joint operation in Chilimba area, Gokwe, where they received information that the four accused were allegedly involved in illegal dealings in ivory.

The team then carried out a stop and search operation where they found the four accused persons parked at a lay-by. Tinago was seated in the car while the three men were standing outside.

The team introduced themselves and requested to search the vehicle. They found an elephant task wrapped with a cloth. It weighed 1,3 kilogrammes and was valued at $306,25. During the search a plastic bottle containing 30 live rounds of ammunition of a 302 riffle was recovered underneath a mat which was in front of the passenger seat.

The accused persons failed to produce a licence for the ammunition upon being asked to do so. The four were taken to Siakobvu Police Station where a thorough search was conducted leading to the recovery of one crocodile skin valued at $1,500 in the boot of the vehicle. They also failed to produce a permit for possessing it.

The four appeared before Gokwe regional magistrate Mr Sheperd Mjanja and only Madavanhu pleaded guilty to the charges of contravening the Parks and Wildlife Act and the Fire Arms Act.

He was slapped with nine years imprisonment for count one and 12 months each on counts two and three. Three months were suspended on condition that he does not commit a similar offence in the next five years.The trio who pleaded not guilty will be back in court next week.

Zimbabwean women rewind to re-usables sanitary pads

Seldom do we have old inventions appearing in another part of the world as new phenomena, but enter re-usable pads, a thing that has been around since the beginning of time becoming fashionable in Zimbabwe. Re-usable pads, also known as washable pads, are intended to curb the use of newspapers and other harmful materials that many women turn to due to lack of adequate funds to purchase sanitary wear.

While re-usable pads promote women’s sanitary health, they also pose a threat to the disposable pad market as they are functional for up to a year-and-a-half. Going for $1 for two, they are not harsh on the pockets of women who usually have to fork out $2 for pads or $5 for the more flexible tampons.

Researchers have revealed that the re-usable pads have high absorbency, are leak resistant and the material does breathe unlike the disposable ones that mostly use synthetic fibres such as rayon and plastic that are super absorbent and may even absorb moisture from the vagina increasing chances of severe menstrual cramps and infections.

However, despite their relatively cheap price, reusable pads will be a hard sell in the urban areas, with many vowing to stick to tried and tested products. Progress Tshuma (21) is a student at a local college. Re-usable pads are a new thing to her. Despite having been told about their advantages, she is still not keen on trying them out.

“I would rather use a product I already know than try something new because I am not sure of its effects,” she said.

Just like with something new, there is also excitement for some — especially those that have had bad experiences with the commonly used pads. Most young women expressed concern over the washing part as they openly said they cannot stand washing their own menstrual clothes. However, others are happy that someone has finally developed something more comfortable using material they are familiar with.

“I feel itchy every time I use cotton pads. At least with these new ones made of cloth I don’t feel any skin irritation,” said Bahle Sibanda who has tried the new craze.

Dumiso Dabengwa poised to relinquish ZAPU Post at congress

Zapu president Dumiso Dabengwa is set to relinquish his current post at the party’s elective congress scheduled for August this year.

Well-placed sources said the party was planning to amend its constitution to create the post of national chairman for the former Zipra intelligence supreme.

“The Zapu constitution will be amended at the forthcoming congress to accommodate the post of chairman. The chairman will be in charge of party affairs while the president will be in charge of governance issues. We are going to have elections for a new president because Dabengwa will be deployed to the new portfolio,” said the source, who cannot be named for fear of breaching the party’s protocol. Some young Turks are already jostling for Dabengwa’s post. They include United Kingdom-based secretary general Ralph Mguni and South African-based businessmen, Dubizizwo Joli and Dr Frank Mbobo. Dark horses in the race to succeed Dabengwa also include Harare-based lawyer, Msonglwa Ndlovu and Retired Col Ray Ncube.

The post of secretary general is likely to be a two-way race between the late nationalist George Silundika’s son, Flexi, and another Middle East-based party activist.

When reached for comment, the party’s spokesperson Patrick Ndlovu, professed ignorance about the impending changes in the party. “I am not aware of those changes which you are referring to. What I know is that Zapu will be jointly holding its women and youth congresses on April 11 in Bulawayo. This congress is part of our preparations for the main congress which will be held in August,” he said.

Incumbent national chairwoman, Gertrude Makwila, is said to be seeking re-election at the congress while incumbent South Africa-based youth chairman , Future Musovele, is reportedly facing a stiff challenge from a Victoria Falls-based aspirant. A Roman Catholic priest at St Charles Lwanga in Chimanimani is facing allegations of sleeping with a sister from the same centre in apparent violation of dictates of the church.
The illicit affair came to light after nude pictures and suggestive messages the lovebirds shared were leaked on social media.

Father Taurai Saunyama (30), who could not be reached for comment, is alleged to have slept with Sister Rukudzo Rosemary Nyamugunduru (22), who said the man of cloth only proposed love to her but she had turned him down. She denied ever sleeping with him, saying these were only rumours.

“Fr Saunyama proposed love to me on several occasions, but I never consented and the matter was put before the council,” she said. After being asked why she had exchanged indecent texts and photos with the priest, she was at a loss for words to explain.

She suddenly went offensive and threatened The Weekender, demanding to know who had leaked the pornographic photos.

“What do you need all that information for? It is none of your business. I demand to know the person that gave you those texts and pictures together with my phone numbers,” she screamed at the reporter.

The text messages and photographs were discovered by fellow sisters who requested not to be named.

In the messages, the pair would plot on how Sr Rukudzo would leave the house she stayed in with the other sisters to go to the priest’s house without getting fellow sisters suspicious.
In other messages, the pair would praise each other for being good sexual partners and at one time the priest warned the sister against having other men feast on her, claiming he was the only one who was entitled to enjoying the forbidden fruit.

The priest also occasionally sent the sister nude pictures of himself, showing his erect organ.
The affair is alleged to have reached Mother Superior, Sister Evelyn’s, office in Mutare.
Contacted for comment, Sr Evelyn said she was not in a position to comment on the issue.

ISIS recruiting fighters from South Africa

Durban – The self-proclaimed Islamic State is recruiting South Africans to join its cause. And some have already made the caliphate their home. Independent Media has obtained a step-by-step guide on how South Africans can travel via Turkey to the caliphate’s headquarters in Syria. The document is available online via a micro-blogging platform, but can only be accessed with a password. It includes details such as how to book flights, accommodation, what to pack for the journey, who to contact once you reach Turkey, how to contact “your agent”, and how to make your way to IS-controlled land. The organisation has captured large parts of Iraq and Syria. It also has operations in Libya, Egypt and other parts of the Middle East. It aims to create a society based on a fundamentalist interpretation of Islamic law. The UN has declared IS a terrorist organisation after several beheadings of foreign prisoners and attacks on non-Muslims. Independent Media has previously reported on claims that some South Africans have joined IS. This week, we used social network platforms to track down two South Africans who claimed to have joined the group. One claimed to be from Port Elizabeth and the other from Joburg. Using the pseudonym Abu Hurarya Al-Afriki, 18, one of the men said he had been living in the caliphate for two months. A second man who identified himself as Abu Layth Al-Hindi, 25, joined the caliphate a month ago. Both have set up social media accounts to help South Africans wanting to join IS. Al-Hindi said life in the caliphate was tough at times. “But by the will of Allah, you can overcome anything,” he said. Al-Hindi said access to the caliphate was becoming more difficult. “Now we have a new rule called tazkiya. You have to give the state a guarantee that you know and completely trust the person you are bringing. If it is found that the person is not trustworthy or that the person is a spy, then both you and the person will be beheaded.” Al-Hindi said anyone planning on hijrah (migration) to IS would have to do so at their own expense. “However, once you get here everything is provided for you. You are given all basic necessities, you are placed into a job if you would like to work and you won’t have to deal with the nonsense that people put up with in South Africa. It is the life that every believer wishes to lead.” He claimed he was aware of 11 South Africans living in IS, but Independent Media has no way of verifying this. “We all get to know each other here. “The English speakers generally meet and discuss where they are from.” The name Al-Afriki means someone from Africa. “It is my duty to guide and assist people to the khilafah (caliphate). I have already been contacted by nearly 100 South Africans wanting to join us,” said Al-Afriki. “Guidance from Allah made me join the Islamic State. As a Muslim, you will lead a life full of honour. The attraction is simple. We just want to live under Islam. We don’t want to see evil, vice, gambling, nudity, prostitution, music, murder, deception, uncleanliness, streets reeking of faeces and a host of other evil and filth which exists in the Western world. “The khilafah does exactly what Allah has told us to do. It is not permitted for a Muslim to live amongst the disbelievers in their lands; it is only rightful for a Muslim to live in an Islamic state, governed by the laws of Allah. The disbelievers are governed by man-made laws. “Life here is like life in the time of the Messenger. We live the same way in which his companions lived. It is necessary for Muslims to have a leader, a caliphate and power for Muslims to establish Islam and its complete control over the world,” he said. Both the men said their job was to encourage and guide other South Africans to the caliphate. They said it was better than living in South Africa or in a Western country. “The attraction is simple. We live the life we want to lead under Islam and by the guidance of the holy Qur’an. Muslims who do not choose this life are misguided and they are not just non-believers, but they are sinners,” said Al-Hindi. “As a Muslim, you would lead a life full of honour; therefore I encourage my brothers and sisters to join me in the khilafah.” Al-Hindi said that although they are asked to surrender their passports upon arrival, they were also allowed to leave the state at any time they chose. “If you want to leave, you have to go to the border office and collect your passport. They will take you over safely,” he said. Al-Hindi said those who entered IS were provided with a home if they had come with their family or spouses. If a woman entered the caliphate on her own or with friends, she was placed in a special guesthouse with widows and other unmarried women. Once in the state, all expenses are taken care of, including medical care. Women are placed into jobs, as nurses, receptionists or in a special media department where they promote IS in articles to attract more people to the IS. “Women don’t even need to work because the monthly stipend is sufficient for them. But if they choose to work, they can do so,” Al-Hindi said. He said there were added benefits. “When you get married you get a special gift from the state. All newlyweds get a gift of $1 000 which is equivalent to R11 500. Which country in the world does this?” he said. He said children were well cared for. “They can go to school and learn. “They get a normal education just like one would get in a Western country, but obviously guided by the principles of Islam. Our women and children are not deprived like most people think,” he said. “You will live a life far better than those who live in the West. The time is now for you to join us, before it is too late – the doors are slowly closing. “And, to the Western world, I have one message for you: ‘Die in your rage.’”

President Mugabe has expressed concern over the youths of Zimbabwe whom he chastised for being involved in immoral behaviour and rampant abuse of drugs and other intoxicating substances. Speaking at his 91st birthday celebrations in Victoria Falls yesterday, Matabeleland North Province, President Mugabe said there was a need to have moral empowerment advocacy. "Our party and Government shall continue to monitor and evaluate all our policies. However, the youth should take advocacy and conscious action for behavioural change. They should shun all forms of immoral and life destroying behaviour and conduct," he said According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care about 10 percent of Zimbabweans are mentally ill and most of these are youths who following the abuse of drugs and other harmful substances get mentally unstable. On the issue of corruption the President said the youths had to shy away from the scourge. "Corruption should be avoided, in addition to having the ambition to do great things for the nation and their families hence we discourage in the strongest terms the increase of the use of drugs, alcohol and other intoxicating substances," said President Mugabe. This, he said, led to the abuse of other younger children by the drug using youths. "Without discipline surely our youths will be doomed, we want moral empowerment advocacy. We want that teaching which comes out of Christianity to be real to be practical," he added. The President said youths in the country should strive to be leaders of tomorrow by attaining an education. In light of this a psychomotor skills ministry was introduced recently in the country with the President saying there should be one Vocational Training Centre in each district that will see youths advancing their skills. He said Africa’s population has been described as a useful population and the scenario in our own country testifies to that as our own youth were victims of corruption going on in companies. "Young people have just like us, suffered from sanctions, the imposition of sanctions has disabled the capacity of their elders. Now their elders were placed in high positions, however, they could not earn maximally in their positions so they could not provide as fully as they might have desired," said President Mugabe. President Mugabe said the Government recognises the role played by the youth in development and nation building. He said Parliament had now ratified the African Youth Charter as well as reviewed the youth empowerment policy. He encouraged youths to study hard and acquire an education and also hands-on skills like agriculture, carpentry and building. The President also castigated the education system by saying it was too academic and lacked the other aspects that made students able to fend for themselves outside formal academic education. The shift would see the review of the education curriculum which will see the education sector churning out employers not employees. The President also announced that plans to make the National Youth Service mandatory were under way as it was one of the ways to improve moral uprightness among the young people. "The National Youth Service aims to inculcate discipline in young people, patriotism, selflessness and self-sacrifices so we want to enhance our National Youth Service dream. It is very important and we would want to get to a stage where every student will have gone through national service training at Ordinary Level and we want to build resources towards that gradually," said the President. The National Youth Service is a programme of the Zimbabwean Government for Zimbabweans of ages 10 to 30. Its stated purpose is to transform and empower youths for nation building through life skills training and leadership development. The service also serves to instill in young Zimbabweans a sense of national identity and patriotism.

Grace Mugabe bracing for the defence ministry post

First Lady Grace Mugabe is reportedly prodding President Robert Mugabe to appoint her Defence minister in a much-anticipated Cabinet reshuffle after she reportedly turned down the Women’s Affairs portfolio for being “less glamorous”.
Zanu PF politburo member Sydney Sekeramayi is the present Defence minister, while the Women’s Affairs ministry has remained vacant following the reassignment of Oppah Muchinguri to the Higher Education portfolio.

Following her triumphant entry into Zanu PF politics last year, where she succeeded Muchinguri as women’s league boss after leading a vicious crusade that caused the fall of former Vice-President Joice Mujuru, Grace had been widely tipped to land the Women’s Affairs post.
Mugabe left the ministry vacant when he filled other key Cabinet posts last year following a mini reshuffle caused by the expulsion of ministers linked to the Mujuru camp.

Well-placed sources said Grace was giving 91-year-old Mugabe a torrid time, refusing to take up the Women’s Affairs ministry, insisting on the all-powerful Defence ministry.
“The First Lady has refused to be the Gender minister,” a Zanu PF insider, who refused to be named, said.
“She wants to be Defence minister or alternatively Mines minister.”

Of late, Grace — who played a pivotal role in the annihilation of the Mujuru faction — has become an omnipotent figure in Zanu PF politics and was widely believed to be wielding enormous influence on Mugabe.
Grace, last Wednesday set tongues wagging when she occupied a front politburo seat next to Mugabe during a meeting which pronounced the expulsion of former secretary for administration Didymus Mutasa and former Mashonaland West provincial chairperson Temba Mliswa. Mutasa and Mliswa were expelled only three days after Grace returned home from her two-month-long holiday, where she underwent surgery.

Grace sat in the six-member disciplinary tribunal appointed by Mugabe to decide Mutasa’s fate. Mugabe confirmed at the party’s December 2014 congress that the First Lady was becoming too influential on his decisions when he went into his “Pasi neZanu PF” gaffe, after Grace wrote a note advising him to cut short his speech.
“It’s my wife who has written this note,” he said.
“She says I am now talking too much.
“That’s how I am treated even at home and so I must listen.”

However, the period in the run-up to the December 2014 congress had already proved Grace’s unrestrained influence in the party after all the people she labelled traitors, including Mujuru, were purged. Zanu PF insiders added that Grace, who is widely believed to be angling to succeed her husband, believes controlling the army would make her ascendancy to the throne much easier.

“Initially, Grace was chickening out,” another source said.
“She did not want a ministerial position that would expose her to the wrath of MPs during question-and-answer sessions in Parliament.
“But after being convinced that she needed to sit in Cabinet, she has started making huge moves to land the powerful Defence ministry in order to get a certain measure of control of the armed forces for protection in the post-Mugabe era.”

However, another source said it would be wrong to assume that Grace was demanding a position from Mugabe.
“The media should know better that Mugabe is still in control,” the source said.
“You cannot really believe that Grace is now in charge. The issue is, Mugabe no longer has the energy so much that when he gets into the car, he falls asleep.
“His body is tired both from ageing and a lot of medication.
“But Grace is not calling the shots. She is getting instructions from him, not vice-versa.”

Shuvai Mahofa tipped to bounce back into Government as minister

ZANU PF Senator for Gutu and former Youth, Gender and Women’s Affairs deputy minister Shuvai Ben Mahofa, is tipped to replace fired Masvingo Provincial Affairs minister Kudakwashe Bhasikiti in an impending Cabinet reshuffle if remarks by First Lady Grace Mugabe are anything to go by.

Bhasikiti was fired last week for associating with axed former Vice-President Joice Mujuru’s faction, which is accused of trying to topple President Robert Mugabe.
At her “meet the people” rally in Masvingo’s Mucheke Stadium ahead of the party’s contested congress last year, Grace, now the party’s powerful women’s league boss, said Mahofa was her role model.

“Be like Mai Mahofa, she is my role model,” Grace said, while castigating the Mujuru faction leaders at the rally, much to the pleasure of the capacity crowd.
Grace left Mahofa with farming inputs she donated to the province, instructing her to distribute them on her behalf, bypassing Bhasikiti and then Zanu PF provincial chair, Killian Gwanetsa, in the process.
“Be like Mai Mahofa, she is my role model.”

Grace donated 30 tonnes of seed to party members and 10 tonnes of maize meal for distribution to orphans, the physically challenged, vulnerable and child-headed families.
Sources in Zanu PF said Mahofa, nicknamed “the iron lady of Masvingo”, could get the post on a silver platter, as she is a favourite of the First Family, after bouncing back from the political wilderness in 2013.

“Of late, she has caught the attention of the First Family because she supported Grace at the women’s league when she was the secretary for security in the organ,” a source in the party said.

The former Gutu South legislator is said to be the second in command in the faction aligned to Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa, after Psychomotor minister Josaya Hungwe in the province, another source said.

Asked about the issue, acting Zanu PF Masvingo provincial chair Paradzai Chakona said the appointment would be an exclusive prerogative of the president.
“Well, I cannot comment on that as the president is the one who decides on appointments,” he said.

Whenever he goes outside the house, he has to wear a jacket to cover the visible breasts.

"If I leave the house, whether it's hot or cold I just have to wear a jacket to cover the breasts. It is something affecting me greatly and my emotional plea is to be healed before they grow beyond this," he said.

Dube strongly believes that someone who is not happy with his life had a hand in his unfortunate predicament.

"Someone bewitched me and as you can see I am no longer living a normal life," he added.

Dube who was not comfortable speaking to the media, was captured by a B-Metro newscrew while he was at Prophet Chamunorwa Matsaure's place of residence receiving spiritual help.

This was after a a hint from a source. But since visiting the prophet his condition has stabilised.

He claims that at one point his one year old daughter slurped them.

"One day my daughter slurped the breasts," he added.

Whenever he goes outside the house, he has to wear a jacket to cover the visible breasts.

"If I leave the house, whether it's hot or cold I just have to wear a jacket to cover the breasts. It is something affecting me greatly and my emotional plea is to be healed before they grow beyond this," he said.

Dube strongly believes that someone who is not happy with his life had a hand in his unfortunate predicament.

"Someone bewitched me and as you can see I am no longer living a normal life," he added.

Dube who was not comfortable speaking to the media, was captured by a B-Metro newscrew while he was at Prophet Chamunorwa Matsaure's place of residence receiving spiritual help.

This was after a a hint from a source. But since visiting the prophet his condition has stabilised.

"They seem to have stopped growing from the day Prophet Matsaure started praying for me but they are still painful," said the distressed Dube.

Not the first man to have breasts without wishing for them, a local traditional healer said what befell Dube is linked to promiscuity and adultery.

"He might have slept with a married woman or if he is married there is also a possibility that his partner could have fenced him. This is a common runyoka/lunyoka. Mayhem as trees talk and laugh at each other at Inyangani Mountains

Mountain makes one think twice before embarking on the journey.

Now imagine this — you have gone on a holiday trip with your family in a mountain. Your husband decides to dare a little distance further up and he disappears for good . . . never to be seen again even with the help of experts armed with helicopters and binoculars.

Or a boulder falls from a mountain top into a river and the water turns into blood and the river flows all year round in that red state, tainting other rivers it meets downstream into crimson.

Or worse still, you go up a mountain and you find trees talking and laughing in harmony with nature and upon exclaiming about this shock of your life, a thick blanket of mist engulfs you and you disappear in it.

Unthinkable, is it not?

Yet these scenarios have been haunting people in Nyangani Mountain since time immemorial. A lot unheralded mysteries have been happening in the mountain, with the most publicised being the disappearance of the Masaya twins in the late 80s, then the vanishing of an Indian tourist last year which awakened the world into a prompt search.

Mountain climbing experts armed with helicopters and binoculars combed the Nyangani Mountain thickets but it was a futile exercise.

The latest victims of the unknown "kidnapper" are two innocent children from St Killians Mission in Makoni who had recently gone on a trip with their fellow students at a natural pool in Nyamombe River. The students disappeared from the group only to be found dead in the pool the following morning.

This has left the Nyanga community and the province at large clueless as to what really happens in the mountain.

Headman Samhembere said the Nyangani Mountain was sacred and this has something to do with supernatural rites surrounding it which have however been continuously ignored.

The elderly traditional leader explained the historical background of Nyanga which he said is haunting people up to the present day.

"Nyanga, which in Chewa means first- born, was Tangwena's son who travelled from Malawi and established his chiefdom in present day Nyanga, which is named after him.

"Chief Nyanga then established friendship with Chirikutsi, a mermaid which lived at Pungwe falls. The chief had his sacred alter in the mountain, along Nyamombe River where they would meet the mermaid as well as communicate with their spirit mediums. At one point the mermaid came out of water and took Nyanga's family with it into the waters, living a few behind. It could have been a move to find some friends to live with since they had entered into a friendship pact.

"Chief Nyanga's chieftainship was then destroyed with the coming of commercial white farmers who were targeting the cool temperatures and fertile red soils associated with the area," he said.

Samhembere who said he is a descendent of the Nyanga family, suggested that the Government should recognize Nyanga chieftainship in order to bring peace in the mountain as there is need for divine intervention as it seems there is spiritual war in the mountain.

"Nyanga should be appointed chief in the areas that lie around Nyanga national park. He was the first to settle in Nyanga before other recognised chiefs; Saunyama, Tangwena, Makoni, Katerere and Mutasa. Ironically Tangwena only came here following his son Nyanga who had established his chiefdom already. Spirit mediums may be not happy with the developments and we still fear for the worse," he added.

The headman also said that when they were called to help in the searching expedition of the Indian tourist, they were "given" a 20 metre long white piece of cloth which he then shared with his relatives (Nyanga family) who live in Honde Valley. He said they immediately came across it, in front of them, as they led people on the mountain top.

Acting Chief Saunyama also concurred with headman Samhembere that the Nyangani Mountain is sacred. He implored all the people to observe what they are told to do whenever they visit it.

"The mountain is sacred. The problem is people are now shunning our tradition for Western cultures. We should always respect our culture. What is happening in Nyangani Mountain is very depressing. It must be given the attention it deserves," he said.

The chief also encouraged the National Parks to work in consultation with the local traditional leaders so that they would know what sacred rules to follow in their execution of duty.

"The National Parks look down upon the local chiefs yet they are the ones who know how to traditionally rectify some of the problems in the mountain. They should convene us so that we guide them on what should be culturally followed when tourists are up in the mountain. They have a habit of thinking of us when things go wrong.

"We have things that we expect people to observe each time they go there, for example avoiding wearing of red colours in the rain season, having sexual intercourse or any intimate activities and commenting on strange natural features there, all of which people go up there unaware of. What will soon happen is that the tourists will end up hesitating to visit our naturally gifted area because of what they hear about the mountain," he said.

The church has its own way of thinking in respect of the matter and according to Pastor Nyakatawa of the End Time Message all this mystery had to do with some spirits that were cast down from heaven.

"According to Revelations 12:7 God fought with Satan and his angels and upon being defeated they were cast down on earth. Some fell in the deep sea, high mountains and thick bushes. They have got power and we should not despise them or underestimate their power. Such mystery is real because Satan wants to cause misery to people.

They are fallen angels. It needs God's revelation to understand these issues and that is why even the traditionalists cannot fully explain the mystery, "he said.

Another believer who spoke on condition of anonymity had this to say: "People should simply respect and follow what they are told to do when they are in the so called sacred places. Even in the Bible there were some sacred places like Bethel and the place where Moses would meet God in the wilderness. The results of going against such orders are far reaching, "he said.

As for the events in Nyangani Mountain one day they will come to an end, only time will tell. Meanwhile the bizarre and unthinkable continues unabated.

Masvingo man rapes 20 womens under the guise of madness

A man from Masvingo suspected to have been terrorising villagers in Nemamwa area on a rape and robbery spree and is suspected to be responsible for close to 20 cases reported in the area inside four months has been arrested.

Enoch Vengesa (38), whose residential address could not be immediately established, was arrested last week and is assisting police with investigations.

Although police could only confirm one case against the suspect, police sources in Masvingo told Sunday News that Vengesa was suspected to have been responsible for about 20 rape and robbery cases in Nemamwa since November last year.

Police sources say the modus operandi employed in most of the cases reported in Nemamwa area in the said period was the same, leading to suspicion that Vengesa could have been the assailant.

According to the sources Vengesa is alleged to have waylaid his victims naked, pretending to be mad and would chase after them before raping and robbing them of their valuables.

However, luck ran out for Vengesa after a 13-year-old girl he raped on 5 February this year managed to positively identify him.

Acting Masvingo police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Kudakwake Dhewa confirmed the case involving the 13-year-old girl for which he said Vengesa was being held, while other cases were still being investigated.

Asst Insp Dhewa said on 5 February this year Vengesa met the juvenile in a bushy area in Nemamwa. The girl was alone on her way home and he chased after her before raping her once.

"The girl reported the matter to police and gave a description of the assailant. A few days later, while police were doing their rounds, they met Vengesa at Nemamwa growth point, who matched the description given by the girl and they apprehended him. An identification parade was conducted and the girl managed to positively identify Vengesa as the person who had raped her.

"He appeared in court for initial remand and was remanded to 27 February," said Asst Insp Dhewa.

Police sources revealed that Vengesa had confessed to raping and robbing 20 women in the area when he was quizzed by police and blamed his heinous act on evil spirits.

"He appeared remorseful and seemed sorry for his act which he blamed on evil spirits. When he was asked by police how many people he had raped he said 20, much to the shock of everyone.

"There had been a number of rape cases reported in and around Nemamwa area and all of them had almost similar circumstances as the method used by the assailant was the same. This led to police suspecting that Vengesa could have been responsible for all the cases which are close to 20," said a police source.

Asst Insp Dhewa could not confirm the other cases against Vengesa, saying investigations were still being carried out to establish if the suspect was linked to the other cases.

"Officers at various stations in the area are still investigating other cases but the cases have not yet been linked to Vengesa. So far only one case has been confirmed. We will update you if there are any other cases brought against him.

"Right now we are trying to bring people who might have been raped in the area and are yet to identify the assailant to visit Nemamwa police station and help in investigating their cases.

"We shall be conducting an identification parade for Vengesa to establish how many cases are against him," he said.

Vengesa last week appeared before a Masvingo magistrate’s court for initial remand and was remanded in custody to 27 February as police are still conducting investigations.

He was not asked to plead.

People were allegedly pepper sprayed and the amaBerethe chased people away with sjamboks. Many people claimed the police fired rubber bullets.
Priscilla Ndlovu (34) who claims to be a resident at the same flats said they heard screams from the room where the woman stays on Thursday night.
"At first we thought it was just the screams of sexual pleasure, but it turned to be screams for help," said Priscilla.
She said they called the security who forced the door open and saw the naked man on top of the naked woman pleading for help to be separated, but nobody could force them apart."
She said everyone was shocked and afraid of what they saw.
"We always hear of such things happening but we have never seen it," she said.
A family member of the husband of the cheating wife said the husband had been complaining about his cheating wife.

"He complained she was going out with his friend. I think he locked his wife to catch the man she's cheating with," said the woman.
She said in Zimbabwe, where they come from, it is a common way of catching cheating men and women.
"No one will separate them until the husband comes back from Zimbabwe to unlock them," she said.
A Zimbabwean source said locking a woman with muthi was a common way of catching and punishing cheating lovers in their country.
By Friday morning, when the crowd saw the ambulance at the flats they chanted: "We want to see them! Show us the cheaters!"
Cops were kept busy keeping the crowd at bay. Three streets were blocked off, causing major traffic jams and motorists had to use alternative routes.

The ambulance finally raced off at high speed. It is not known if the couple were inside. Neither the police nor the paramedics could confirm if the two were taken to hospital or not.
Sangoma Mathabo Mofokeng said husbands put muthi in their wives' punani to lock their women.
"There is muthi that is used by some men to catch cheating couples," she said.

ZIMRA persuades government to cut civil servants' salaries

THE Zimbabwe Revenue Authority commissioner general Mr Gershem Pasi has called for a cut in salaries for civil servants across the board and for Government to stop creating too many non-productive entities which are draining the already strained Treasury.

Recurrent expenditure is draining about 92 percent of Government revenue. The chief tax collector said Government, employers and labour should resuscitate the social contract in order to stop the country sinking "deeper into the hole". Mr Pasi said salaries were pegged at artificial levels when the country adopted the multi currency system in 2009 and the national cake cannot sustain such high payouts.

"We pegged our wages and salaries basing on that artificial level which was premised on the hyper-inflationary environment we had just come out of. My proposal is that we have never needed a social contract more than now. And that social contract should not be there to maintain the status quo. Dr Mangudya in his statement urged that there should not be any increase in salaries. What would happen if we went further; let's cut the salaries. Let's cut prices," said Mr Pasi.

Zimbabwe adopted the multi currency system following a run of hyperinflation which led to the collapse of industry which could not sustain operations as a result of the moribund local dollar. Mr Pasi said the country will continue to sink deeper into problems if corrective measures are not taken.

"Otherwise all we are doing will be just fire fighting but the truth is we are going deeper and deeper into the hole until we take drastic measures. Why not say cut by 20 percent across the board; cut wages, interest rates, everything because it will be a social contract. We will give ourselves room to start the growth process," said Mr Pasi.

He said the country should review its costs structures particularly the wage bill.

Recurrent expenditures of about 92 percent continue to outweigh Government leaving only eight percent for capital development programmes. Mr Pasi wants a review of how the budget is crafted in order to adopt a system where "we start with what is available" as opposed to what is expected.

"We also need to review the way we do our budgeting. We should start with what's available both in terms of anticipated revenue, allowable borrowings and any grants that are assured and then we cut our cloth to fit that revenue plate,"

He suggested that the country adopts a framework which may not be changed at any situation for revenue distribution and called for discipline in relation to following budgetary allocations. To save revenue for capital development Government should avoid creating a multiplicity of non-productive entities which drain the fiscus.

"We continue to create not-so-useful entities. We also created too many independent funds. Why do we create funds which are managed outside the central treasury funds? And when we have created them they are not accountable to anybody," said Mr Pasi.

Mr Pasi said the new constitution is an expensive venture as it expanded cost drivers putting further strain on the already pressed Treasury. "We have some legacy issues one of which is that during the Government of National Unity we had a new Constitution. It is a very expensive Constitution. Today we are talking of creating fiscal space, you can't do much with the set up that we have. Look at the expansion that happened with the new Constitution of the legislature. Can we afford it? We created so many additional members in both houses but at the end of the day we must pay for it," said Mr Pasi. When the expansion was done, there was no consideration on the cost of such an expansion to the legislature, he said.

Sex-starved Chitungwiza man kills prostitute during sex marathon

An extremely sex-starved Chitungwiza man who allegedly killed a prostitute during all-night sex has been brought to court.

23-year-old Lazarus Nyabonde is said to have killed a thigh vendor Mirriam Kugara after a misunderstanding.

When Lazarus appeared before Harare magistrate Milton Serima, he was not asked to plead.

However, the court heard that Lazarus hired a prostitute at around 3am on 3 December last year at Gora Night Club in Chitungwiza's Unit L Shopping centre where the hooker used to sell her legs.

Reports are that after a verbal sex contract, the fornicating couple agreed to go to the prostitute's 'head office' where the act would be conducted. Further reports are that during sex, a misunderstanding arose.

A source told My Zimbabwe News that the couple argued after Lazarus told the prostitute that she was performing extremely terrible.

"Zvakatanga Lazarus paakati kuhure hausi kunaka," said a source.

This did not go down well with the 23-year-old prostitutes' client who, in a fit of rage, Lazarus strangled Mirriam and pushed her onto the bed and he also used a pair of scissors to stab her in the stomach, just above the naval.

The naked prostitute bled profusely until she met her creator.

After the heinous act, Lazarus allegedly took Mirriam's cellphone which had a sim card and disappeared.

The State alleges that Lazarus made indications at the crime scene and that he was identified by the person he had sold Mirriam's phone to after he (Lazarus) had spent some time using the phone.

Tsvangirai and wife in a fist fight over infidelity issues

MORGAN Tsvangirai's wife, Elizabeth, has demanded to be "set free" from her marriage to the MDC-T leader after accusing him of cheating on her with two women.

In sensational audio tapes obtained by the media, Elizabeth, nee Macheka, also accuses the former Prime Minister of suffering from erectile dysfunction which has prevented them from having sex since their marriage in 2012.

Macheka, close sources say, had accepted the problem quietly but is livid that Tsvangirai is cheating on her with two other women -Leah Mhundwa, and a Bulawayo woman only named as Nobuhle.

Mhundwa is the young sister to Tsvangirai's late wife, Susan, who died in a car accident in March 2009.

So volatile is the relationship between Tsvangirai and Macheka that at times they exchange blows.

Tsvangirai blames Macheka for the bedroom woes. He has told her that he does not experience the same problem when he sleeps with other women.

The tapes reveal that on one occasion, Tsvangirai told Macheka that he did not experience erectile dysfunction after romping with Nobuhle, sparking a huge row.

Nobuhle is said to have been in Harare recently and spent three days with Tsvangirai. Tsvangirai and Macheka have not been staying together for months.

Tsvangirai briefly stayed with Macheka at their home in Borrowdale but was chucked out after his wife discovered he was cheating on her with Nobuhle and other women. The MDC-T leader is now staying at the Highlands Government house bought and upgraded for him at a cost of $3 million during his stint as Prime Minister, which ended in July 2013.

Macheka rejects Tsvangirai's claims she is the cause of his sexual failings, and feels betrayed by the MDC-T leader who is "ungrateful" that she has stuck with him even when there is no fire in their bedroom.

Macheka, in meetings with family members, told how Nobuhle and other women call Tsvangirai in the middle of the night while she is sleeping beside him. The rows sparked by the phone calls usually degenerate into fist-fights.

After reports of a split emerged last year, Tsvangirai invited a newspaper to their Highlands home and disputed a report by The Herald that they were on separation.

At one time, Tsvangirai sent Macheka back to her parents as he believed it was her who brought him the misfortune. He has also gone as far as Nigeria where he sought spiritual healing from Prophet TB Joshua without success.

Close relatives have held marathon meetings to resolve the impasse between Tsvangirai and Macheka. In one meeting, held in line with Shona culture, Tsvangirai and Macheka met with his nephew during which she poured her heart out about their problems.

"Last week on Thursday the Machekas summoned Tsvangirai and his relatives to a meeting after Elizabeth told her parents that she could not continue living alone. She also highlighted that she has never been intimate with Tsvangirai since their marriage and wants to move on with her life," a source said.

Macheka wanted Tsvangirai "to set her free".

"She told relatives that if Tsvangirai believes that she was the source of his bedroom problems, then he must set her free," the source said.

Yesterday, Tsvangirai and his wife claimed all was well with them.

"We're staying together. We're happy. We've no problems at all," claimed Macheka.

Tsvangirai, through his spokesperson, Luke Tamborinyoka, said: "We can understand the fixation that The Herald has with the brand and person of Morgan Tsvangirai. The truth of the matter is that there is bliss in their marriage. Mr and Mrs Tsvangirai are at No. 45 Kew Drive, Highlands.

"We understand the incessant pursuit and concoction of stories around the life and marriage of Morgan Tsvangirai for political reasons."
Earlier, Tamborinyoka had tried to persuade this reporter to reveal the source of the story and the evidence.

Tsvangirai customarily married Macheka in 2012, but the civil union was stopped after a court challenge from his ex-lover from South Africa, one Nozipho Shilubane.

Ten Silobela gold panners sustain injures during panic gold rush

A gold rush in Wozoli area, Silobela has left scores of gold panners injured as the community fight against a local businessman, Vurayai Marima, who is claiming ownership of the gold claim.

More than 10 villagers in Wozoli area showed the news crew scars on their bodies from battles with the police called to secure the claim. Villages said police dogs were set on them as they were panning for gold at a site they said was discovered by a local, Nkululeko Gasela.

The community is alleging that "the well connected" Marima wants them off the gold claim which they feel should benefit them.

Interviewed were some of the gold panners and villagers who said that they had been brutalised after attempting to pan for gold. The gold claim has been fenced off with only Marima's employees allowed to mine while hundreds of gold panners watch from a distance.

Marima, popularly known as Bravo in the area, confirmed that the illegal gold panners had been attacked by police dogs when they tried to illegally pan for gold at his claim. He said he asked for extra security from the police after noting that his security details could be overpowered by the gold panners.

"Where there's a gold rush there are always forces that want to have access to the gold ore. Indeed there's a gold rush in the area but I'm the rightful owner of the claim," he said.

Marima said he will continue mining and protecting his claim from the villagers.

Village head Msongelwa Makaba, however, differed with Marima. He said locals had discovered the claim and instead of benefiting, Marima in cahoots with some police officers, had barricaded the area.

"Locals discovered the gold claim and many youths then descended on it but Marima and the police quickly barricaded it. Police vehicles could be seen carrying gold ore and we don't know to where," he said.

Vice chairperson of the Wozoli Batanai District Association Stuck Mazibisa said it was unfortunate that locals were not benefiting from their God given natural resource.

He said women, children and even livestock were being terrorised by Marima and his security guards. "We're suffering here, our children are being beaten Marima's security guards. They're always telling us that they're above the law and that the police can't touch him," he said.

Yesterday, the villagers held a demonstration near the mine. They said they could not go closer to the mine for fear of having police dogs set on them. Nkululeko Gasela said he discovered the gold claim accidentally.

"I was walking when I was tripped by a rock and fell to the ground. I rose up and looked at it and decided to crush it. To my utter amazement, it had some gold."

He said he later told his cousin Edmore Nkomo and the two spent the whole night digging and putting the gold ore in bags. "When day came, scores of other gold panners joined us. If I was educated I could've gone to look for a prospector's licence which Bravo claims to have," said Gasela.

He said he was pained by the fact that Bravo was now kicking him out with the rest of other panners when it was him who discovered the claim.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Joel Goko said he was not aware of the gold rush in Silobela.

He said police had only been called to mediate in a gold claim wrangle between Alice Watadza and Senzeni Mukungurutse which is in a complete different area.

"What I know is that there's a claim dispute at Lancaster farm on the outskirts of Gweru and police are there to make sure that there is peace," he said.
