Hello Everybody,

Howz everybody doin..?? I hope everything’s good on your side. Today, I want to say something to all of you. And trust me, this is an Important Issue. As we all know, that Jodhpur is also known as The Blue City. Jodhpur got this attribute from the Blue Colored Houses, which is well situated in the Old City. But don’t you all feel that, this Legacy is losing its part. People are moving towards the modernization by depreciating their blue houses. As a matter of fact, the Rich and Royal Inheritance of the Blue City, is slowly being vanished and probably, there will be a time where The Blue City will get extinct. This is a wake up call, for all of us, you, me and everybody.

I want all of you to know, Why Blue Color? There are many characteristics of coloring blue, some of them are:

v The Blue Color keeps the House cool from inside, particularly in Summers

v The Blue Color keeps the mosquitoes and insects away

v And the Blue Color is Eco-Friendly, as it is made from Limestone.

However, I think that, the people can still maintain the inheritance of the Blue City, by combining the Modern look (as per their needs) with the Blue Paint. And for this purpose, the Municipal Corporation, the Tourism Department and the Local Authorities, should formulate a Law, so as to save this legacy from extinction. For example, in Jaipur, the people are not authorized to paint any color on their houses or any other building, situated in the Old City. The have to maintain and stick to the Pink color on their premises. And as we can see that, Jaipur is doing extremely good in the Tourism.

And Last but not the Least, I would like to congratulate on the outstanding initiative for saving the heritage of Blue City. Thanks to the Team of Rajasthan Patrika, for coming up with the concern for saving and preserving the Heritage of The Blue City.

“Few days ago, we had a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Spain Embassy, Mayor of La Union city and Mehrangarh Museum Trust, according to which World Flamenco Festival will be jointly organized, in which Rajasthani performers will also showcase their talent. First phase of this international level festival will be organized from 1 August to 5 August, 2013 in La Union city of Spain after which in March 2014, this will be organized in Jodhpur. Rajasthani performers; Langa Abdul Rashid, Langa Ikhlakh Khan, Langa Zaakir Khan, Langa Saddeek Khan and Asha Sapera will give their culturally rich Rajasthani folk performance in the first phase of the festival in Spain.”- Mr Karni Singh Jasol, Director, Mehrangarh Museum Trust.

In this program, Mr Karni Singh Jasol, Director Mehrangarh Museum Trust and Mr Roberto Neiddu, Director, CRN Production will participate in Spain and during their tour, they will also discuss about the festival which will be organized in March with officials of La Union, Spain.

During this tour, Mr Karni Singh Jasol, Director, Mehrangarh Museum Trust will also participate in discussions with museum experts on “Heritage Conservation” in Madrid.

Mehrangarh Museum Trust is India's leading cultural institution and centre of excellence, established in 1972 by the 36th Custodian of Marwar- Jodhpur, H. H. Maharaja Gaj Singhji, who brought the fort alive to visitors. Today Mehrangarh Museum has a unique importance as a repository of the artistic and cultural history of the large areas of Central Rajasthan and Marwar-Jodhpur, ruled by the Rathore Dynasty. The Museum displays one of the most important and best preserved collections of fine and applied arts from the Mughal period of Indian history, during which the Rathore rulers of Jodhpur maintained close links with the Mughal Emperors. Apart from the Museum, the Trust is at the forefront of conservation and restoration, a generous patron of the arts and music and a lively centre of academic study. The Mehrangarh Museum Trust is a recipient of the UNESCO ASIA-PACIFIC Award in the field of architectural conservation, cultural heritage and adaptive reuse.

About Ghoomar is a traditional folk dance of Rajasthan, India and southern Asia. Ghoomar was developed by the Bhil tribe and was then adopted by other Rajasthani communities. It is performed by women in swirling robes, and accompanied by men and women singing together.

This folk dance gets its name from ‘ghoomna’, the pirouetting which displays the spectacular colors of the flowing ‘ghaghara’, the long skirt of the Rajasthani women. There is an amazing grace as the skirt flair slowly while the women folk twirl in circles, their faces covered with the help of the veil. Their measured steps and various graceful inclinations of the body, beating palms or snapping fingers at particular cadences while singing some lilting songs.

This folk dance of Rajasthan is not just a display of rhythmic talent; its graceful performance in conjunction with the twirling of colourful, long-flowing skirts elevates its aesthetic appeal. While the dancers are only veiled women spinning around the room, occasionally snapping or clapping, both men and women are expected to sing together. Like so many folk dances, ghoomar is usually performed during special occasions to worship religious deities.

Today 28/03/2013 there is a Dhinga Gavar Festival, this is very unique and versatile & it’s celebrated only in the old city of Jodhpur, it starts after 8 pm at 11 places. In this festival you can see the different colors of religion, tradition and culture. All the 11 places are decorated with the lights, like Diwali festival.

This festival is like the carnival of Rio. Where you can see the women’s are in the get up of saint, dacoits, mythological and other historic characters and each one of them carry’s a stick in their hands to protecting the statue of Goddess Gavar, it is popular belief that any bachelor who comes near these women and is stricken by the stick gets married soon with a suitable girl. Stick is called "Baint" in Hindi so this festival is aslo known as Baintamr Teej.

Jodhpur Foundation Day on Friday, May 11, 2012:-

The two-day program will start half past four this evening at Rajkiya Stadium, institutional players and private Bands will play the band competition. Similarly, at half past six, in the evening, intersection on major international folk artists will present a musical and folk dance. Similarly various folk artists will present their performances at the Rajiv Gandhi Circle, Sojati Gate, Bhati Ratanada Square and Clock Tower.

The city's anniversary celebration will be celebrated with fanfare on May 12. With the first rays of the sun on the doors of the reception, traditional folk artists will be playing Naupat. On Saturday evening every home, will be enlightened by five lamps. The Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Academy, will host the five-day festival which will be celebrated internationally. The “554^th Foundation Day” will be written on the board by lights at Fort by The Mehrangarh Museum Trust, Jodhpur. And also fireworks will be held at Masuriya, Ratanada and Pachetia Hill.

The statue of SHRI RAO JODHA JI will be inaugurated on 12^th May 2012 at Mehrangarh Fort at 8:00 in the morning.

GANGAUR FESTIVAL is a festival celebrated in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Gangaur is the colorful and one of the most important festivals of the people of Rajasthan and is observed throughout the country with great fervor and devotion of women who worship Gauri, the consort of Lord Shiva during the March-April. Gangaur is a celebration of spring, the harvest and martial fidelity in Jaipur. Gana is a synonym for Shiva and Gaur, the Gauri and Parvati means Saubhagya (family happiness) symbolizes. To bless the cult of the unmarried women of good husbands, while married women to do for the welfare, health and longevity of their husbands and happy married life.

The festival begins on the first day of Chaitra, the day following Holi and continues for 18 days. For a newly married girl, is binding to observe the full course of 18 days of the festival that succeeds her marriage. Even unmarried girls fast for the entire period of 18 days and eat only one meal a day. Day consummates the third day of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra Month.Fairs (Gangaur Mela) held throughout the period of 18 days. Numerous folklore associated with Gangaur makes this festival rooted deep in the hearts of Rajasthan, .The ladies decorate their hands and feet by drawing designs with Mehndi. The figures drawn range from the Sun, Moon and the starts to simple flowers or geometrical designs. Ghudlias are earthen pots with numerous holes all around and a lamp lit inside them. On the evening of the 7th day after Holi, unmarried girls go around singing songs of ghudlia carrying the pots with a burning lamp inside, on their heads. On their way, they collect small presents of cash, sweets, jaggery, ghee, oil etc. this continues for 10 days i.e up to the conclusion of the Gangaur festival when the girls break their pots and throw the debris into the well or a tank and enjoys a feast with the collection made.

The Gangaur of is famous in all over the world. In Jodhpur, a sweet dish called a "Peda" is characteristic of the Gangaur festival. People buy "Peda" to eat and distribute it among their friends and relatives. A procession, with the statue of Gauri, forms at the Palace known as Rakhi House and moves on the city streets passing and reassemble on Jalori Gate with artist who were the get of different mythological & historical characters on a trolly, people from nearby areas witness the procession..
