A Legend

By fc College student

A feel good interview! It's really nice to know about all that is good about Pakistan. So here I was, reveling in a "feel good" moment... when I reached at the office of dean of student affairs. Mrs.Cheryl Burke, the ones who just not only help out students, but give them the spirit to live with disciplines and integrity. I hardly got an appointment with her as she was in preparation to go back to United States.

I asked her feeling about to know that she was going to Pakistan for the first time, she said that she was excited. When she heard that she is going to Pakistan, she was thinking positive about Pakistan, and she was definitely a bit nervous about the cultural differences as well.

When she came to Pakistan for the first time in April, it was hotter than in United States. She said “I was tired as it was my first travelling experience to any foreign country. It was overwhelming, but the people are loving. I did find fascinating things like donkey and bull carts, and worst traffic system”.

Dr. Armacost convinced her to come to FC College. Armacost’s daughter is her friend, she said that Dr. Armacost wanted to meet Mrs.Cheryl regarding a job of ‘’Dean of Student’’ affairs. When Dr.Armacost had an extemporaneous with Mr.s Cheryl about Foram and the nature of the job , she was convinced and had no way to say no.

She answered a question related to the cultural differences that she faced here she said that, it was difficult for her to understand each and every thing at the very start, but there were some people who really helped her in adjusting to the society like Mrs.Shazia, and Mrs.Jeans Albert. They went with her to the tailor and told her how to explain everything regarding dressing. They also helped her a lot during shopping. She said “I did mistakes and learnt a lot from it like when I visited someone’s house; I had to take tea in any way”.

Her experience with people in Pakistan is very interesting for her. She said that almost it’s typical dealing with people. There is more to do in office constantly. She said “I had to be patient, and I get frustration when I’m not getting what should I and it’s really annoying to deal the students who try to tell lies to escape themselves”. And one thing very important about the parents of students is that when they visit her office, asking transcripts, and courses registration. She thinks that students of 20 years are enough mature and their parent should let them decide by themselves.

Working as a dean of students she is enjoying it. Most of the days it is good and she learns while working with faculty and students. “Sometimes it is more to do but overall it is good” she added.

According to Cheryle Berke there are a lot of things that she wish that could be improved. Better job of communication is one of the important things that she wants to be improved. Enforcing policy museum and election process for officers are some other important things that she thinks to be improved.

Living thousands of miles away from family is hard and challenging for her. She visits her family twice a year. She said that she talks to her family daily via Facebook and Skype, but it is difficult to live far away from family. She ended up the interview by saying that she is happy to be here and she is thanks full for that.

"PHONE WARS"

2012-10-13T02:34:00.000-07:00

Competition and Stealing of ideas began when the first phone was invented.
 Alexander Graham Bell stole Antonio Meucci’s design.
 In 2002 Meucci’s achievement was recognised but it is still not known by many and Bell continues to take credit.
 From the wired phone of Bell and Meucci it turned into a small portable device and in recent years a “Smartphone”.
 Phones today handle all the needs of the user. From calls to text messages and emails to web browsing.
 Apple and Samsung are two cell phone industry giants.
 Competing with Iphone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3.
 Marketing and promotion are in top gear, trying to prove that one is better than the other.
 With features evenly matched, the final decision is in the consumer’s hand, the one the majority picks turns out to be the best.
 Those who are too smart to compare the specifications, choose drop tests, the survivor becomes the “BEST” then.
 Apple has blamed Samsung of copying their ideas and designs but for a debate one may blame them both of copying the smartphones that ran on Windows Mobile or Symbian OS.
 The war between competitiors began with the invention of the phone and is still on.
 Only time will tell that who is the Antonio Meucci and who is the Graham Bell of today.

LoVe....!!!!

2012-02-04T08:10:00.000-08:00

yup love is a bit similar to this song fellows..... u have to do compromises and have to face many misunderstandings . but its not the solution to switch off your cell , not replying the text and reject the calls.
this stupidity can create a hell of misunderstandings which leads to a disaster . try to understand your partner.
this is a give and take relationship only take take or only give give leads the relationship towards a breakup only....
what is love??? care , feelings , possessiveness , moral attachment , and many things which u can't explain in words are love........ these altogether are love ..... there is difference in attraction and love.... we have many attractions in our live but the love is only one.... for searching true love you have to search alot .... its not true that u find your love at first turn ...... first try to understand the one who is your center of attraction if he /she meets your mental capability you should carry on ... otherwise don't make short term relationships which hurt others ..... and always set your limits and don't cross your boundaries as well the boundaries of your partner..... gave moral support to your partner, its not always compulsion for girls to give support its for both of them ...... don't try to play with the life of someone ... because if u do so .... remember that in future the past will repeat itself and then u can't have any control on it then... but u have control of your own present ..... MAY ALLAH KEEP HIS BLESSINGS ON ALL OF US ... AMEEN

sometimes wo dont knw the answer !!!!

2012-02-03T09:41:00.000-08:00

why it happen so !! we donot have answer for some questions!!! donot know what to do !!! have no words for the answer !!! you become blank at the spot !!!! just the tears start coming and donot even stop after trying alot to stop ...... ufFFFFF why people come back after diching you ...!!!!! why !!!! the past suddenly stand in front of you!!! start asking from you !!! you start thinking on the same patterns which you left behind ...... why is that so ...can anyone tell me!!!!

strange.....

2012-01-28T10:21:00.000-08:00

some times in the life some strange things happens.... u shocked what is this !!!! you are forced to think about it...... why some times some people start giving attention to you .... without any reason !!! well i think it gives you a wrong signal always ..... because when some one needs your help that one start buttering you and when time passed they left you where u were ..... isn't it strange !!!!! and above all most of the time its hurting !!!!
