Happy Birthday Krishna or Janmashatami Krishna 2021

Today I am writing about the birthday of God Krishna, it is called Janmashtami because 'Janam' of Krishna happened on 'Ashtami' tithi of Hindu Calendar. The birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, this festival is celebrated on the eighth day of Krishna Paksha of the month of Bhadrapad (August - September), according to Hindu calendar. You people will be aware about the place of the birth of Krishna, that is Mathura. God Krishna is most popular and the most powerful incarnation of God Vishnu, who is said to have been born to free the Earth from all evil. His ready wit, his cunning and at times even his manipulation is lesson of learning for people. His discourse with Arjuna, the third Pandava, just before the war of Mahabharat gave the Hindus one of their most sacred texts, the Bhagwat Gita. Most of the people claim to be well-informed with Krishna and his tales. But there are so much more facts about Krishna they aren't aware of. Krishna in his newborn form is worshipped on Janmashtami. The idol of baby Krishna (Thakur ji) is placed in a swing decorated with flowers and soft pillows with richly decorated cushions.

Peacock feathers are an important part of Shri Krishna's makeup. There is a story that says that once, lord Krishna decided to play the flute in the forest, peacocks were enamoured and began to dance on his melodious music. The peacocks danced till they grew tired, the king of peacock asked him to accept his feathers (most prized possession for them) as grateful lord Krishna accepted his humble offerings and puts a peacock feather in his hair. That is why Sri Krishna is also called by the name of Mormukutdhari.

The entire universe longed for Krishna, but he longed for Radha. Birthday of Radha is celebrated as Radha Ashtami across the country, with full devotion and joy. Radhashtami is mainly takes place after 15 days of Janmashtami. Radha was born at Barsana village and she was elder in age to Krishna. Vrishbhanu Gopa and Kirti Devi were parents of Goddess Radha. She is considered as the incarnation of Goddess Laxmi, the consort of Lord Vishnu. Even today when people visit Braj Bhoomi or birth place of Lord Krishna, the chants of Radhe Radhe resonate in their ears.

Goloka or Goloka Vrindavan is the eternal supreme abode of the Hindu God Krishna and his consort Radha. Krishna was not married to Radha. but Krishna is always altogether with only Radha till date in each temple. Krishna is inseparable from Radha. Krishna always said to Radha, Marriage happens between two people. Krishna and Radha are one entity, How can we get married. Radhaji was separated from Krishna temporarily in leela by Sridama's curse. The quarrel between Sridama and Radha is the main reason behind this curse and they had to be away from each other for 100 years. Radha and shri krishna had their last meeting in Dwarka. Radha asked him to play flute and she gave up her body while listening to the flute. Lord Krishna could not bear Radha's death and broke his flute as a symbol ending of love and threw it into the Bush.

Krishna had 16108 wives out of which eight were his principal wives. The rest of 16100 wives were rescued by Krishna from Narakasura. Their number is mentioned as 16000 or 16100 in different scriptures. When Krishna slew Narakasura, who were forcibly kept in his palace. He accepted all the women upon their insistence to safeguard their dignity, they all lived in Dwarka with him.

Dwarka derives its name from Dwar (door in Sanskrit). In fact, Dwarka is the ancient kingdom of Krishna and is believed to have been the first capital of Gujarat. Besides eight principal queens, the Hindu God Krishna, the king of Dwarka, is described to have many unnamed junior wives.

God Krishna is depicted with a flute on his lips, standing with one leg crossed over the other at the ankles. Lord Krishna dressed in yellow cloth, is compassionate, all-knowing and the embodiment of Dharma or righteousness. Lord Krishna is 8th avatar of God Vishnu. One of the most admired gods of all Indian divinities. The Kurukshetra were left all 100's of Gandhari's children dead. The grieving mother cursed Krishna along with the yadu dynasty both would fall in 36 years. Mistaking the sleeping Krishna for a deer, a hunter named Jara shoots an arrow on his foot that fatally injures him. Krishna forgives Jara and dies.The tales of God Krishna recited even to children. This Hindu deity is revered by millions all over the world. Lord Krishna, an admirer of all beautiful girls, who was well known for stealing the heart of gopis with his flute. Let's get united and celebrate the birthday of a divine lover or God of love with a lot of smiles.

As visible from the title, this day is dedicated to one's parents giving them the respect, love and care they deserve. Parents love us even before we born. National Parents Day serves to celebrate important role of parents in our lives.

Parents Day gained official recognition, when President of US, Bill Clinton signed an act of law in 1994 and a resolution was adopted by the US Congress. This declaration aims to celebrate the established essential role of parents in development of the children. Fourth Sunday of every July is established as National Parents Day in India and most Countries too. National Parents Day 2021 will be observed on July 25, 2021 in India, this year. The first known use of 'parent' word was in the 15th century. National Parents Day falls on fourth Sunday of July, two months after Mother's Day in May, and a month after Father's Day in June. National Parents Day's object is to stimulate realization of the importance of parenthood and its role in providing care the work needed for positive blossoming of children.

Your mom and your dad are your parents, and one of their job is to parent you. Parents are not just a mom and dad, but together they form an institution for a child. A parent is a mother or father. Parents are the founder of a better future. The fate of this society relies heavily on the tasks they perform every day, every moment. After all, parents are the first instructor and human relation of every child's life. Without support from parents, children's health, education, and emotional wellbeing is at risk.

Parents have the liability of protect their families from suffering, caring for out of school children and at the same time, continuing their job. Our parents may find it difficult to be with the family sometimes due to certain social, economic, or geographical factors but their love and care never fails to keep us cocooned in warmth and affection. For providing mental, emotional, and financial stability, our parents strive and do their best to make sure that their kids do not lack anything in life and so, National parents day is marked to appreciate their efforts. Fondness and regard are the most important features of parenting, and of all relations. Parents can only give good suggestions or guide them for the right paths, but the final assembling of a person's personality lies in child's own hands. Even parents at the end of their lives have wisdom to give advice to their children.

Negligence and physical, emotional, social abuse, are the most serious and damaging behaviour traits that most of us identify as bad parenting.

Parents think we are beautiful miracles of their life when we are kids even after we have grown up. When we are helpless babes in wrapped clothes, only parents feed us, burps up, and clean up our messy acts. When we are up all night crying, they sing whole night to make us sleep. Kids shows becomes parents favourite shows. To understand your parents' love you must put yourself in their place. The role of parents is vital in the bringing up of a child. Parents are the greatest boon of nature we have. An animal parent or plant also nourishes its babies.

They celebrate us every day and now it is our chance to return the love on this special day.

Give your Parents your time. Say, "I am so proud to be your daughter. Both of you always been my source of inspiration and my motivation."

Doctors are often get a god-like status in our life and that is not without good reason. However, if we talk about today, there are many doctors who are not particularly honest, however, there are many, many who understand the true importance and greatness of the profession that they have chosen. Doctor's day is precisely meant to celebrate and thank such doctors. It is celebrated to emphasis the value that doctors hold in our lives and this day is meant to pay them respect for their selfless service. The word doctor comes from the Latin word for teacher itself from 'docere' meaning to teach. On National Doctors Day, we will get to know some engrossing facts of medical profession like Homeopathy and Allopathy and Ayurveda's origin, National Doctors Day, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, Red Plus symbol, Caduceus and Asclepius, and importance of Doctors in our life.

National Doctors Day

The first ever Doctor's day was observed in year 1933 on March 30 in the US state of Georgia. National Doctors day was established by the government of India in 1991 to be celebrated every year on July 1, to mark a respect for the great Doctors. India celebrates National Doctors day on July 1, in honour of the birth and death anniversary of one of the most famous physicians, the second Chief minister of West Bengal, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy (Dr. B. C. Roy). Doctors Day is observed on different dates across the world.

Bidhan Chandra Roy

Bidhan Chandra Roy was born on July 1, 1882 to a Bengali Kayastha family at Bankipore Patna, Bihar. His parents were Prakash Chandra Roy, an excise inspector, and Aghore Kamini, a devoted social worker and he was the youngest of five siblings. Bidhan Chandra Roy was an Indian physician, educationist, philanthropist, freedom fighter and stateman who served as Chief minister of West Bengal from 1948 until his death in 1962. Bidhan Chandra Roy is often considered the maker of Modern West Bengal, due to his key role in the founding of several institutions and five eminent cities in West Bengal. Dr. Roy was both Gandhiji's friend and Doctor. Congress Party proposed Roy's name for chief minister of Bengal. Roy wanted to devote himself to his profession. On Gandhiji's advice, however, Roy accepted the position and took office on 23 January 1948. The nation honoured Roy with Bharat Ratna on February 4, 1961, India's highest civilian honour. He died on July 1, 1962, on his 80th birthday. The B. C. Roy National Award was instituted in 1962 in Roy's memory and has been awarded annually since 1976. The award distinguishes excellent contributions in the areas of arts, literature, politics, science, philosophy, , and medicines. Today, his private papers are part of the Archives at the Nehru Memorial Museum & Library, at Teen Murti House, Delhi.

Red Plus Symbol

This symbol is of a red plus sign which is used by almost every doctor and medical care professionals. It is not a plus sign, it is a cross symbol. Red Cross is a voluntary organisation working in the field of medical services and cross symbol is the sign of this group. The organisation was founded Henry Dunant around 157 years ago in 1863. Red Plus symbol is one of the most recognised symbols in the world. The red cross emblem is not any medical sign. The red cross sign or plus sign as it is often called shows that these people are simply there to help. The primary reason of Cross Symbols, used and associated with medical professions is mainly because of its use by the International Red Cross Society.

However, most are unaware about these two distinct symbols commonly used, which have very different origins. The official sign of medical profession is Caduceus. The medical symbol is of a winged staff with two snakes wrapped around it. However premier Health Organizations and regulatory bodies such as the World Health Organization and the Medical Council of India use the rod of Asclepius in their logo not Caduceus. The Asclepius's image is of a snake entwined in a downward-spiral shape around a rod is the emoji that symbolises medicine and healthcare services such as doctors or hospitals.

Allopathy

The first historically recorded doctor in world ever was Hippocrates. Hippocrates is considered as the father of modern medicine. He wrote more than 70 books, and he described many diseases and their treatment in a scientific manner, after detailed observation in his books. Allopathy was the term coined by Samuel Hahnemann to denote a system of medicine that is opposed to homeopathy, which he founded. The first doctor of Modern India was 'Surjo Kumar Chakraborty' and he graduated from Bengal medical college.

Homeopathy

Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, German Physician, was founder of the system of therapeutics known as homeopathy. On the birth anniversary of Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, World Homeopathy Day is celebrated on April 10, every year. World Homeopathy day is observed to mark the importance of homeopathy and its contribution to the world of Homeopathic medicine. Homeopathy was first introduced in India the early 19th century. It flourished in Bengal at first, and then spread all over India. Mahendralal Sircar was the first Indian who became a homeopathic physician.

Ayurveda

It is said that the Hindu God Brahma, created Ayurveda and transmitted this knowledge to his son, Daksha Prajapati. Daksha passed it down to the twin Vedic Gods Ashwini Kumaras and they became the physicians of the gods, and the Devas of Ayurveda. The God Dhanvantari, an avatar of Vishnu, is the Hindu god associated with Ayurveda.

Allopathy vs Homeopathy vs Ayurveda

Allopathic medicine follows constant research and testing so it is more evidence-based medication. Homeopathic medicine tries to strengthen the immune system through small doses. Research shows that, Homeopathic medicines are used in highly diluted doses, they do not interact or interfere with conventional drugs and, therefore, homeopathic and allopathic medicines can be used together. Homeopathy is considered best when it comes to safe and sound treatment as it is devoid of any kind side effects. Although, in Ayurveda where you need many sessions to cure the disease.

Importance of Doctors in our life

Doctors are special, and this year is one where we have seen them as our real-life heroes. Doctor's day is an opportunity to thank all the heroes for their selfless contributions. They are working round the clock as the world is gripped with this pandemic. If we did not recognise the importance of doctors before, we certainly learning just how much they contribute to society, amid the coronavirus pandemic. while we are self-isolating, it is the doctors who are constantly fighting for the lives of the people who have been infected with the deadly virus. Doctors are truly the greatest heroes, of all the time. National Doctor's day honours the professionals for their dedication and contributions to society and community.

Although, I wrote many blogs on mother, first time I am writing post on father. Fathers like mothers are necessary in the development of a child's emotional well-being. Only father is a person, who always provides appreciation, help and wholehearted love, and give their children the gift of trust and high self-respect. Have you ever seen God? No, it does not seem that father is our God because whatever we want, we tell our father, and he fulfills irrespective of wrong or right, and all demands. Although children do not need a specific date to celebrate the most important man in their life. You guessed it right, we are talking about Father’s Day 2021, an important date for all the dads. Father’s Day 2021 falls on June 20 on, this year. This day celebrates fatherhood and male parenting.

Inception of Father's Day 2021

This date was first marked in the USA (United States of America) and has since been adopted by many countries. Father’s Day was founded in Spokane, State of Washington at YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association), on June 19, 1910 by a woman Sonora Smart Dodd, who was born in Arkansas, State of Washington. She tried to establish an officially equivalent day to Mother's Day for male parents. Her father, the Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart, was a single parent who brought up six children alone. Father’s Day is celebrated in many parts of the world at different times of the year, but mostly countries celebrate it on third Sunday of June. On this day we thank fathers and fatherly figures for the sacrifices they make, for embracing the responsibility of nurturing and raising children, and for devotion to their family.

Origin of Father Word (Father's Day 2021)

Study shows, Father comes from the Proto-Indo-European "paeter" and old English word "faedar" meaning he who begets a child, “reflecting the baby talk sound "pa “as well as a phonetic shift from "p" to "f" in Middle English. Scholars suggest that the origin of word "DAD" comes from first noises that kids make.

God is Father or Father is God (Father's Day 2021)

God is also viewed as a loving father and God is addresses as the Father too. We know that when God will appear, he shall be like father, we see father as God, he is loving us through everything we do. God is always addressed as the Father, in the way that a father would take an interest in his children who are dependent on him and respond to his children's best interest. Now times have changed, both the father and mother are sharing the responsibilities whether it is finances or parenting. A research revealed that fathers today have a better understanding of the importance of parenting and they are spending much time with their children as men never did two generations ago. We must consider the fact that fathers are not mothers. Studies of men and their ways of nurturing children are uniquely different from women. Studies have found that children with father are much better in controlling their emotions and impulses. Fathers help children prepare for the reality and harshness of the world. While mothers tend to worry regarding their children’s safety and well-being, father almost always encourage their children to take risks and explore.

Role of Father in Parenting

A father is a male parent and a creator, inventor or author or give raises to something else or a leading man. Father's love is constant and unchanging. Father does not show his love. Children also expect from their fathers to provide a feeling of both emotional and physical protection. Father's love for his children is just like oxygen for survival. A father works efficiently day and night just to keep his family happy and safe. He takes up all the responsibilities of education of his children or every other monetary need. His work is endless and often thankless. A good father realizes that making mistakes is part of growing up of the children. The father's role during parenting children encourages them to take responsibility, and to also discover the world freely. Fathers play a role in every child's life that cannot be filled by anyone. It is not hidden from anyone that daughters are always attached to fathers and sons are attached to mothers. Fathers play a key role in their daughter psychological development from the moment they are born.

Celebrate Yog Divas Everyday

Everyone is doing yoga only to burn calories. If any of our fit friend in simple words not fatty friend does yoga, then we all say, "dear, why are you doing Yoga? you are so fit". But Yoga technique is a way to relax your body and mind through different physical body postures. Yoga word derived from Sanskrit language, refers to uniting (with someone) or joining and first mentioned in ancient sacred texts called the Rig Veda. Although yoga is connected to historically from Hinduism, but also to Jainism and Buddhism which originated in India. Yoga is around 6000 years old physical, mental, and spiritual practice. Yoga has been very popular around the world in past few years.

Inception of Yog Divas

The International Day of Yoga has been celebrated across the World every year on June 21 since 2015. Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi proposed his suggestion for the occasion of a Yog Divas, during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in 2014. The draft of resolution proposed by India was endorsed by a record 177 members of states. The theme of the International Yog Divas 2021 is "Yoga at home and Yoga with family". We urge people to be part of International Yog Divas and practice at home. Practice yoga at home to stay optimistic this will help us to spend time with family during COVID-19. Thus, venue of this Yog Divas is our home.

Origin of Yoga and Yog Divas

According to the scriptures, God Shiva is considered as the Adi yogi (the first yogi), and father of yoga. God Shiva is also known as Natraj, the lord of dance, his dance gestures also reflect in his postures quite gracefully. He is also known as the founder of the art of yoga. God Shiva personifies and practices of yoga and has derived 84 lakhs asanas from his dance moves. It is believed that God Shiva transmitted Yoga to the Saptarishi, who spread the Yoga practices to the World. Adi Shiva began the sessions of the Yogic teachings with Saptarishis on the banks of Kanti Sarovar, near Kedarnath, Uttarakhand, India.

Yog Divas and Yoga Sutras

Many thousands of years later Patanjali came and saw that Yoga had become too complex and diversified for anyone to grasp in meaningful way. He is the person who synthesized and organized knowledge about Yoga from much older traditions and compiled Yoga Sutras, so Patanjali is thought to be the father of modern yoga. This is a collection of 196 verses or Sutras on Yoga. The Yoga Sutras are one of the most important texts in the Indian tradition and the foundation of classified Yoga, translated into forty Indian languages.

Contribution of Swami Vivekananda for Yog Divas

Swami Vivekanand (Hindu Reformer) introduced the importance of Yoga to the Western World, when he addressed the World parliament of religion in Chicago in 1893. Swami Vivekanand enjoyed remarkable appreciation in the eyes of the west when he travelled as a yoga teacher to Europe and USA. Research says that, there are 300 million yoga trainers worldwide.

Baba Ramdev

I think this blog will remain incomplete without Baba Ramdev. Yoga was still existent in ancient India and modern India too, but yoga came in limelight through Baba Ramdev. Baba Ramdev or Swami Ramdev is an Indian yoga teacher primarily known for his popularizing yoga and Ayurveda in India.

Ram Kishan Yadhav or Swami Ramdev was born on December 25, 1965, in a village named Saiyad Pur, Mahendragarh, East Punjab (now Haryana), India. His parents were Ram Niwas Yadav, a farmer, and Gulabo Devi. He studied till 8th standard afterwards he joined Acharya Baldevji in Gurukul Kalwa to study Sanskrit and Yoga. He always stood first in class and he used second-hand books to study. He was overweight in childhood. According to his parents, he fought with many life-threatening accidents in his childhood. At the age of six, he fell off the roof and his head were contused. At the age of seven, he drowned in a pond, a villager saved his life after hearing the commotion of his friends. He got boils on his body when he turned eight years old. Again, he suffered a paralytic attack on left side of his whole body in his childhood. He credits yoga for the miraculous recovery from all these severe incidents of life. Yoga professes a complete system of physical, mental, social, and spiritual development. It is said that, once upon a time some saints came in his village and gave the messages of Saint PARAM Hansa. That message influenced him a lot and he determined to become a saint. Swami Shankar Devji changed name of Ram Kishan Yadav to Swami Ramdev due to hermit lifestyle. He wakes up at 3 a.m. because Baba Ramdev is workaholic.

Contribution of Baba Ramdev for Yoga and Yog Divas

Swami Ramdev founded the 'Divya yog mandir trust' in 1995. Aastha Channel on TV began featuring Ramdev baba in its morning slot, he taught people practice seven breathing exercises. There he gained a large following including some celebrities across the World. United Nations General Secretary, Kofi Annan, invited him to deliver a lecture in a conference, in 2006. The same year, he and Acharya Balkrishnan co-founded an enterprise Patanjali Yogpeeth, on the name of Maharishi Patanjali, who is considered the father of yoga. Patanjali Yogpeeth, Haridwar, Uttarakhand, India, is World's biggest Ayurveda and Yoga centre. He has been honoured with Doctorate degrees from four universities across the India. Gradually he became so popular that many prominent people inspired by him and learnt yoga from him like Amitabh Bachchan, Shilpa Shetty, Yogi Haider (Baba Ramdev of Pakistan) and Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi and so many.

Acharya Balakrishnan

Ramdev Baba and Acharya Balakrishnan met to each other at Tripura yoga ashram Kankhal Haridwar, India, in 1990s and they became friends. Do' and Don’ts on Yoga Divas

Yoga is good for flexibility and stretching and meditation and improve your sleeping. Do not perform yoga immediately after meals. Yoga should not be performed in a state of exhaustion, illness, in a hurry, or stress condition and menses. Women should do only pranayama and relaxation asanas during their menses. Always practice yoga in a clean place, on a level surface and use a yoga mat or blanket for supine postures. A standard yoga mat should be 3.3 mm or 1/8 inch thick. It helps correct poses. Yoga mat provides a sort of insulation between the human body and the ground. It helps you avoid injuries. The best time to practice yoga is early morning before breakfast or late evening. Never eat directly after yoga: Give your body absolute 30 minutes to re-acclimate itself. Yoga benefits the mind body and spirit. Yoga practice can rewire your brain chemistry and boost your mood.

Conclusion

The practice of Yoga leads to a perfect harmony between the mind and body, man, and nature. We do not join yoga many times with the thought, weight will be gained after leaving it. But truth is that, since you are not burning the same number of calories as you used to while working out, the extra calories will be stored as fat in the body. I think every day that let go of today, I will do yoga tomorrow, but that tomorrow never comes. Cannot we get 15 minutes out of 24 hours for yoga or for our body. Whether you think you are busy, or everything depends on what you give priority to in life. Yoga is an art and science of healthy living.

To love yourself is a very important thing. I think health of your mind depends on your being able to love yourself.

Save the nature (World Environment Day)

United Nations specified June 5, as World Environment day to save the nature and encourage awareness about the same.

The role of environment is so great in our life that it can affect our behaviour also. Life and environment are intact correlates. The term environment came from a French word "Environia" means to surround. We get air water, food, shelter from mother earth and live on planet earth. Today we will talk over the environmental issues such as Oxygen, planting of trees, pollution, climate change, cyclones and its naming and ozone layer preservation on the day of environment day.

Save the Nature and breathe with Nature (Oxygen)

Oxygen is the most plentiful element in the world, and it is colourless, odourless, and tasteless in free state. The air we breathe is about 21 percent oxygen in environment. Two thirds of human body is composed of oxygen. The discovery of oxygen has generally been distributed to 'Joseph Priestley' an English chemist. There is a yet a third man 'Scheele' who is credited for his involvement in the discovery of oxygen in 1771. Priestley published his findings first. Based on his thought Antoine-Laurent Lavoisier, a French chemist used the Greek words oxy (acid) and gene (forming) to coin the French word oxygen - translated to oxygen in English sometime around 1779.

The importance of oxygen (medical oxygen) once grew more during the COVID-19 pandemic because of its close association with respiratory system. Medical oxygen is high purity oxygen that is used for medical treatments and is developed for use in the human body. The medical oxygen tanks are getting smaller since medical use of oxygen has been increased during Covid-19. COVID-19 clearly exposed a major weakness in our health systems.

Although, the study indicates that the pandemic situation significantly improved air quality across the world, due to movement restrictions.

Plant a Tree and Save the Nature

Trees are vital. Humans and other animals rely on trees to produce oxygen that we can not breathe without oxygen, we would not be able to live. Cutting trees can result in loss of habitat for animal species, which can harm ecosystem. Legal and illegal deforestation is a huge issue worldwide and it affects everyone. We can put by trees from being cut down by using less paper.

Save the Nature and preserve Ozone Layer

Ozone depletion is a major environmental problem. The ozone layer or ozone shield is a zone of Earth's stratosphere that ingests 97 to 99 percent of ultraviolet radiation of the Sun, which otherwise would potentially damage exposed life forms near the surface. French physicists Charles Fabry and Henry Buisson discovered the ozone layer in 1913. In 1976, atmosphere research revealed that the ozone layer was being depleted by chemicals released by industry, mainly chlorofluorocarbons (CFC). The United Nations General Assembly has specified International Day for the preservation of the ozone layer on September 16, to save the nature. Concerns that increase UV radiation due to ozone depletion threatened life on earth. The destruction of trees also encourage global warming.

Save the Nature from Pollution

Pollution is also consequential after effects of activities which upsets the biodiversity of the ecosystem. The deeds of human like household activities, factories, agriculture and transport are main sources of pollution to heating up the planet, mostly found in urban area. Pollution, even in little amount, impacts the ecological balance. The word pollution comes from the Latin 'pollure' that means contamination.

Save the Nature and avoid Climate change or Windstorms

Cutting of trees may reduce rainfall. Climate change is the most serious issue facing our planet today. Caused by atmosphere disturbance, cyclones are usually accompanied by several weather conditions such as storms. The speed of wind during a windstorm typically exceeds 55 km per hour. Cyclones can be defined as spinning storms rotating around the low-pressure centre. The term 'cyclone' comes from the Greek word Cyclos which means a coiling shake. When the speed of a storm wind reaches or crosses 74 mph then it is a cyclone, hurricane, or typhoon. It may last for just a few minutes or they may last for hours and even several days. They can occur over land or water. Lightning is a major threat during a thunderstorm.

Save the Nature from Cyclones

It often comes to mind why such cyclone has a name so, how are cyclones named and from where do such names originate. It is difficult to remember technical numbers and terms of cyclones for people. So, to make it easier for media reports to spread information about cyclones and to increase community preparedness in case of emergency, are given names. The new list, released in 2020, has total of 169 names of cyclones at present which will be used on rotational basis. That list is having 13 suggested names each from 13 countries. The names of cyclones are done by World Meteorological Organization/United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Adia and the Pacific (WMO/PTC).

Cyclone Names

The practice of name cyclones, began to identify the storms in warning messages. The cyclone has been given the name TauKtae (pronounced Taute) a Burmese name, by Myanmar, meaning 'gecko' a highly vocal lizard, in the local language. Cyclone 'Yaas' named by Oman, refers to a Jasmine like tree with a good fragrance. Government officials said, when the cyclonic storm 'Yaas' was approaching the state and causing widespread destruction, cumulatively more than 300 births were registered in the coastal state. Some families were rushing to name their new-borns after the hazardous storm 'Yaas', officials said. The next cyclonic storm in India is 'Gulaab' meaning a rose, had been named by Pakistan. Each name is designated for a given tropical zone. Planting trees also may prevent cyclone damage and can save the nature.

when will we celebrate Buddha Purnima and birthday of Gautam Buddha?

Skinny Buddha vs Laughing Buddha vs Mahavir Swami.

While I was releasing some lines on Buddha Jayanti, I noticed the statues of Swami Mahavir and Gautam Buddha. They were looking same in the appearance. We know very well that both are different, but still, they look almost same. The Gautam Buddha was the founder of Buddhism. Mahavir was the twenty-fourth and last great teacher (Tirthankara) of the Jainism. Buddhism and Jainism both are centred upon the life, and teachings of Gautam Buddha and Mahavir, respectively. Jainism and Buddhism are separate religions although they do share many resemblances in their beliefs and practices. Both religions believe in reincarnation which is rebirth of the soul in a new body after the death of the previous body. There is so much of confusion about Buddha that the western historian thinks that the FAT statue of Ho-Tai Buddha the Chinese monk (Laughing Buddha) is Buddha.

To get clarifiaction on symmetry in identity, some reality of lives of all these three monks is shared with you in this post.

Gautam Buddha

The Siddhartha Gautam was born on full moon day of Vaisakha month of Hindu calendar, at Lumbini, near the border of Nepal and India about 2600 years ago. The birth anniversary of Gautam Buddha or Siddhartha Gautam is celebrated as Buddha Jayanti in India and the same is observed on May 26, this year. The Shakya prince Siddhartha wedded to his cousin sister, Yashodhara, the daughter of King Suppabuddha and Amita (sister of the Buddha's father, king Suddhodana), when they were both 16. At age 29, he noiced, suffering of sickness and old age and death and understood the actuality of life. Prince Siddhartha left his wife Yashodhara and newborn son Rahula and went for spiritual search of lasting happiness. He did his research for six hard long years and attained Nibbana (enlightenment) under the Bodhi tree (the sacred Fig tree under which lord buddha attained enlightment) at Bodhgaya, Bihar, India. At the age of 80, Gautam Buddha declared that he would soon reach Pari nirvana, or the final deathless state, and leave his earthly body. After this, the Buddha ate his last meal, which was offered from a blacksmith, Cunda, at Kushinagar. He was awarded the title of Buddha means "Awakened One" or "Enlighted one" many years after his death. Both Yashodhara and Rahula later became followers of Buddha. Buddha always opposed the practices of Brahmin Priests, such as animal sacrifice, caste system and belief in creator (God). He sermonized that ambition was the root cause of suffering and that people should seek to end desire. Buddhism became a separate religion. He understood the mechanism which keeps people trapped in the cycle of rebirth.

Buddha's statue

Gautam Buddha statue always have a Hindu tilak on the forehead. The Buddha is depicted teaching in the lotus position, while making the Dharma chakra mudra.Buddha statue will never ever have a naked chest, his chest is always covered by cloth. Buddha's statue always has a tied-up hair bun on top of the head and hand raised in mudra sign. Buddhism's main goal is to gain enlightenment.

It is believed that 535 million people around the world practice Buddhism religion.

Mahavir Swami

God Mahavir was born on 13th day of bright moon of Chaitra month and his birthday is celebrated as Mahavir Jayanti in India, every year. Vardhman Mahavir was born at Kundagrama near Vaishali in Bihar, where both Jainism and Buddhism originated. His parents were king Siddhartha of Kundagrama and queen Trishala. At the age of 30 after marrying and having a daughter, Mahavir renounced the luxury life. He wore one garment for more than a year but later he wandered naked and had not even a bowl for water or food. He permitted insects to creep on his body, bearing the pain with patience. In Jainism, nonviolence is its main core. After 12 years of extreme rumination, he attained 'Kevalya', under a Sala tree on the bank of river Rijupalika near Jrimbhikgrama in Modern Bihar, India, the highest stage of perception. He was credited to have conquered his desires and thus came to be knowns as 'Jina' or 'Jains' or the conqueror. Mahavir Swami systematized earlier Jain doctrines and established the rules of religious life for Jains.

Mahavir Statue

Mahavir's statue is always with the symbol of a lion beneath him. The Mahavir statue have both the palms (right on left) in classic Vedic Ardha-Padmasna meditative pose of lord shiva. A Mahavir statue often has Vishnu's Shrivatsa mark on his bare chest. The hand with a wheel on the palm symbolizes Ahimsa (non-injury) in Jainism. Mahavir's teachings, written in Sanskrit language, were compiled by Indrabhuti Gautama (his chief disciple), and now known as the Jain Agamas.

There are some six million followers of Jainism, World's most peace-loving religion Worldwide.

Laughing Buddha

Ho-Tai was a Chinese Monk working as a cook in a cloister in southern china around the 9th century AD, while Buddha was born in 1900 BC. Ho Tai is regarded by many Buddhists as a Boddhisatva (mota Buddha), but he was elevated to 'good luck' divinity by the Taoists (followers of chinese philosphy Taoism). Both Taoism and Buddhism believe in reincaranation. Buddha was nicknamed the Laughing Buddha because of his big smile and the happiness he was spreading around him. We also celebrate World laughter day to raise awareness about happiness and its many health benefits, every year. Dr. Madan Kataria, founder of the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement, arranged first laughter day on May 10, 1998, on the first Sunday of May, in Mumbai, India.

Laughing Buddha statue

Laughing Buddha is often depicted with a bag. Although his name 'Budai' means 'cloth bag' in Chinese. Budai was a courageous man with a big abdomen, big grin, large ears, wearing a simple robe, and a large sack. Chinese Fat Buddha is also known as the Buddha of Happiness and wealth. Now, laughing Buddha (Fat Buddha) has become a popular figure in feng shui.

Always laugh when you can, it is a cheap and best medicine.

Holi 2021

Holi is a popular prehistoric Hindu festival, also known as the festival of colors and love. Holi was originated in India and is celebrated in whole World with gaiety. Holi 2021 festival will be celebrated on the full moon day (Purnima) of the lunar month of Phalguna this year also.

Spring Celebration or Holi 2021

Holi festival is predominantly associated with Holika Dahan event. Holi is two-day festival. The first day of Holi 2021 is called as Jalanewali Holi and also known as Kama Dahanam in South India. The second day or main day of Holi 2021 is known as colorwali Holi or Dhulendi. Holi 2021 is celebrated for arrival of Spring to honor the good harvest. Holi 2021 is a celebration of colours, frolic and love. Holi 2021 is a spring celebration and known as Vasant Mahotsav also.

Holika Dahan 2021

According to Bhagavata Purana, there was an ancient king Hiranyakashyap, king of demonic asuras, who claimed to be immortal and demanded to be worshipped as God. The son of King, Prahalad refused and chose to remain devoted to Hindu deity Vishnu. King Hiranyakashayap infuriated and subjected his son to cruel punishments. Holika, sister of King, sat on a pyre with Prahalad and she protected herself with a cloak, Prahalad remains exposed to fire. As the fire blazed, the cloak flew from Holika's body and encased Prahalad, thus saving his life. Holika dies in that fire, but Prahalad comes out completely unharmed. God Vishnu appears in avatar of Narsimha as half man and half lion, and killed the king Hiranyakashyap. Therefore Holi 2021 begins with the Holika Bonfire which marks the end of evil.

Holashtak

In the case of Holashtak, it is believed that holashtak started from the day on which God Shri Bole Nath destroyed Kamadeva in anger. From Phalguna Shukla Ashtami to phalguna purnima (Holi 2021), holashtak remains for eight days. The period of holashtak is considered suitable for devotion, there is lack of auspicious mahurats in these eight days. A place for holika dahan is selected and is purified with cow dung, eight days before Holi 2021, in the beginning of holashtak. Collecting wood for Holika Dahan is the most important task during Holashtak.

Colourful Holi 2021

Another story tied to the Holi festival is that of Radha and Krishna. The eighth incarnation of the Hindu God Vishnu, Krishna had blue skin because he drank poisonous milk from a demon Putana when he was a baby. Krishna feared that Goddess beloved Radha would not love him because of his blue skin. But Radha allowed Krishna to paint her skin with any colour, making them a true couple. God Krishna used to play Holi with his friends at Vrindavan and Gokul and thus made this is community event.

The Lath mar Holi, the traditional Holi 2021 festivity in Barsana, the home of Goddess Radha, is world famous. Holi celebration of other places related to God Krishna at Mathura Vrindavan, Govardhan, Gokul and Nandgaon, are also very prominent. Holi 2021 is one of the oldest Hindu festivals even the Holi sculptures, can be seen on the temples of ancient India, showing princes and princess holding pichakaree (Water Guns) to squirt water on each other.

On the occasion of Holi 2021 festival participants apply colors to each other's skin in honour of Krishna and Radha. It is said that Holi festival was originally a ceremony for married women to put colours on the members of family and spread prosperity and good will on their new family.

The Holi 2021 festival becomes wild with big crowds, coloured dye, water guns, music, dancing, and partying. To celebrate this Holi 2021 festival, we all will shop for Gulals and sweets. Gulal powder has always had an important role in Hindu culture and has always been used for religious purposes. In recent years Holi festival is celebrated globally and this festival spread real colour and happiness in the life of everyone.

Why do we celebrate Akha teej 2021 or Akhshay Tritiya 2021 and when?

The festival of Akshaya Tritiya is celebrated on the Tritiya tithi (third day) of Shukla Paksha (waxing or the brighter phase of the lunar cycle) of Vaishakha Month, and it is one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu calendar. The festival date differs, and falls according to the lunisolar Hindu calendar in April or May month of every year in the Gregorian calendar. Akshaya Tritiya is observed on May 14, 2021, this year.

Akshaya Tritiya is a Sanskrit word, where Akshaya means 'eternal' and Tritiya stands for 'third day of month'. There is a long list of significant reasons mentioned below which make Akshaya Tritiya so auspicious Hindu festival.

Akshaya Tritiya is the birth anniversary of goddess Annapurna (goddess of food and nourishment) also. It is said that Goddess Parvati was appeared as goddess Annapurna on this day. God Shiva built the famous Annapurna Devi temple at Kashi to honour her.
According to another legend Shri Krishna saved Draupadi and the Pandavs from the sage Durvasa's wrath by turning the empty food pot into an Akshaya Pot (vessel with an endless supply of food) on Akshaya Tritiya during the exile of the Pandavs to the Forest.

And Sage Ved Vyasa narrated the Mahabharat to God Ganesh on this occasion.
This virtuous day marks the beginning of Treta Yug.
As per south Indian mythology, Goddess Madhura and God Sundaresha, the incarnation of God Shiva, tied the knot on this day.
On this righteous day, God Krishna bestowed wealth and monetary gains on his poor friend Sudama who came to his palace with a fistful rice.
Akshaya Tritiya celebrations concur with the birth anniversary of Lord Parshuram also, the sixth incarnation of God Vishnu. Parashuram means "Rama with the Axe". The Mahabharat and the Puranas record that Parashuram was born to the saptrishi Sage Jamadagni and the princess Renuka, on Akshaya Tritiya, thus it is also celebrated as Parashuram Jayanti. According to Purana, Kerala is also known as Parashuram Kshetram, ie., 'The land of Parashuram' as he retrieved the land from the sea. Stories suggest that Kerala was created by Parashuram after he was blessed by Varun (God of Oceans) and Bhumidevi (Goddess of Earth). After sitting in meditation at Gokarnam he reached Kanyakumari from where he hurled an axe northward across the ocean. The place where his axe touched down, emerged a place which was named as Kerala. He is also the teacher of Bhishma, Dronacharya and Karna. He is believed to be one of the immortals, who will appear at the end of the Kali Yuga to be martial guru of Vishnu's tenth and last avatar, Kalki.

Therefore, Akshaya Tritiya is of great significance. People donate the things with the belief that, whatever is donated on the day of Akshaya Tritiya, its virtue increases manifold. Akshaya Tritiya or Akha Teej or Akti is celebrated among Hindus and Jains with zeal and faith.

I previously published some lines on "Mother" and again it's made the reason to utter myself on the occasion of Mother’s Day. The festival name is Mother’s Day, but I will write about Mother Days. Mother's day is the day, which makes people remember the importance of mothers in their life and is observed as each day to offer special emphasis to motherly figures around the world. Mother is an English word, not an acronym but many people create their own full form to show their respect and love for their mothers.

The official Mother’s Day arose in 1900's because of the efforts of Anna Reeves Jarvis, who conceived the celebration of Mother’s Day for her mother. Her mother expressed a desire and had asked her to carry a memorial after her death. Thus, three years after her mother's death on May 10, 1908, Jarvis held a memorial ceremony to honour her mother and everyone mothers at Andrews Methodist Episcopal Church.

After gaining support from a Philadelphia emporium owner named, Wanamaker, she organized the first official Mother's Day celebration at a Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia.

President of US, Wilson proclaimed the primary Mother's Day to offer public 'thank you' to mothers on May 9, 1914 and declared it an official holiday.

Mother’s Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May month in India every year to respect motherhood. Mother’s Day is observed on May 09, this year. Mother’s Day celebrated beyond the World, in more than 50 countries, however, not all countries celebrate it on the same day.

Mother is our best friend and always reinforce our life. Mother always tries to make people cheerful. The affection of a mother turns her attention to her child only and dispel her from former obsession. She is a very loving human being and kind who renounce her aspiration to better the lives of their toddlers.

Have you ever noticed that, how the mothers of animals also take care of their kids? You can observe this in any flock of animals. Herds of females (mothers) and children usually travel together in a circle and they always keep their kids on the inside, protected from predators. It is believed that, Elephants are most protective mom on the earth.

Mother resembles with Nature who always gives unconditionally without any expectation in return. It is very difficult to be a living inspiration like her for someone, and to do which we need zeal, intelligence, confidence, and passion in life. She always tries to keep a grin on her face.

Abanindranath Togore also portrayed India as Bharat Mata to obtain nationalist feelings in Indians during the liberty struggle. Bharat Mata was illustrated as a four-armed Hindu Goddess wearing saffron-coloured saree holding the manuscripts, sheaves of a rice, a mala and a piece of white cloth and a garland.

We all the time perceive, Mother as an image of Goddess (creator) and an icon of God's presence.

Mother is not a simply a word it is a whole universe.

The whole world celebrates May 1 as an International Labour Day although the people of Maharashtra and Gujarat celebrate today big event as Maharashtra Day and Gujarat Day, respectively.

Labour Day 2021

May 1 is known as International Worker's day and as Labour Day in different parts of the World. Today we will know about some things that workers use in their working life, but they never thought about the importance of their scale in their life, such as salary word, salary system, eight working hours, weekend and EPF which made their running life so systematic and trouble free.

Peter J. McGuire, a carpenter and labour union leader, was the person who proposed the idea of Labour day to New York's Central Labour union early in 1882. On May 1, 1886, the Labour class came together and rebelled against the unjust system and asked for paid leaves, good wages, and proper breaks. In India the Labour day celebrated in Madras (now Chennai) by the Labour Kisan Party of Hindustan on May 1, 1923 and Red Flag, symbol of Labour day, utilized in India for the primary time. Labour day is additionally referred to as Kamgar Din or Antarrashtriya Shramik Divas.

In Roman times, and throughout the centre ages, Salt was a valuable commodity also mentioned as 'White Gold'. The EPF and MP Act (Employees Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act) 1952, was enacted by the Parliament of India and came into force with effect from March 4, 1952.

Maharashtra Day 2021

At the time of India's Independence, Bombay developed as an enormous Indian state with other suburbs being added hereto within the subsequent years.On today May 1, in 1960 two states Maharashtra and Gujarat attained statehood after division of Bombay (now Mumbai) state. In 1956, the Sanyukt Maharashtra Andolan began demanding a separate state. This proclaim continued till 1960, the Bombay Reorganization Act was gone by India's Parliament and legislation came into effect on May 1, 1960. By splitting the bilingual Bombay state, which had existed since 1956 with majority Marathi speaking Maharashtra and Gujarati speaking Gujarat, two states Maharashtra and Gujarat were formed on May 1, 1960.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was the primary King of Maharashtra. Marathi language is an Indo-Aryan language spoken mainly by around 83 million Maratha people of Maharashtra, India. Marathi is an official language and co-official language within the Maharashtra and Goa states of Western India, respectively and is one among the 22 scheduled languages of India. Maharashtra is one among the foremost industrialized state of India. Maharashtra became the medium of cultural exchange between southern to northern India. The Godavari and Krishna are the major rivers in the state Maharashtra. Maharashtra is India's most industrialized state contributing 46% of the GDP (Gross Domestic Product).

Shiv Sena officially changed city's name as Mumbai when it came into power in 1995, although Bombay remained in common usage. Shiv Sena renamed it from Bombay to Mumbai to pay tribute to the Goddess Mumbadevi and to reflect its Maratha heritage.

Gujarat Day 2021

After division of Bombay (now Mumbai) state, the state of Gujarat was carved out on May 1, 1960 and this day is celebrated as Gujarat Day.

During Mahabharat period, the Gujarat was known as 'Anart Pradesh' (land in west), and later on it was called as land of Gurjar. Gujarat word derived from the word 'Gurjar Pradesh'. Ahmad Shah, the first independent sultan of Gujarat founded Ahmedabad (1411). Gujarat was ruled by Mughals by the end of the 16th century. Marathas inundated the state after mid-18th century. Gujarat is often called as "Jewel of Western India" on the global map since ancient times. Gujarat is the birth place of Mahatma Gandhi and 'Iron Man of India' Sardar Vallabhai Patel and our present Prime Minister Narendra Modi also.

Summer Vacations 2021 or Staycation 2021

Children start planning about the summer vacations 2021 while preparing for his or her final exams. They appear forward thereto as unstructured 'me time' and expect it to vary from the remainder of the year (special too). Summer Vacations 2021 may be a break from school in summer between academic years or the break after the completion of academic year. The duration of this break depends on the region and state.

Summer vacation 2021 may be a special time for teenagers, no school, no early wake up, no schedule. Imagination of about 6-8 weeks of no school days, the uninterrupted cries of "I get bored" concerns me. At an equivalent time, As a toddler, I always eagerly await the summer vacations 2021. As a mother, I dread it. I feel guilty about perhaps not having the ability to make enough good summer vacations 2021 memories for my child.

Summer is hottest of the four temperature seasons. Earliest sunrise and late sunset make days very long, and nights short in summer. When it is summer within the hemisphere, it is winter within the hemisphere and the other way around. This is often because when the north a part of the world points towards the sun, the south part points away. We love celebrating summer vacations per annum.

With the COVID-19 pandemic still circulating and infections rising in several parts of the planet, there is an issue mark over whether summer vacations 2021 will plow ahead as normal. There's not on/off button for this COVID-19 virus. We are getting to see tons of changes compared to how we want to travel, how we want to enjoy our holidays pre COVID-19. I feel we are getting to be living within the land of testing for some time yet. The CDC (Centre of Disease Control and Prevention) continues to recommend staying home over travelling, since travel increases your risk of getting and spreading COVID-19.

Spending your summer vacation 2021 at home seems like it is a sacrifice, but it does not need to be. you will still celebrate.

As with a daily vacation, a staycation is merely as successful because the effort and planning you set into it. Your only limits are your creativity. I reached bent other parents to debate this issue and see what ways they found to survive the challenge.

From my very own experiences and of some mothers, here are a couple of tricks to possess a sane life and thrive amidst school summer vacations 2021, kids, and work. Here are the simplest ways to enjoy your vacation reception.

Before the introduction of British education, primordial education was given higher importance from early time to colonial era. Gurukuls were the Hindu residential school of learning which existed in ancient India. The “school” word derived from the Greek word 'schole which has a meaning that will surprise students—"leisure”, spend time thinking and finding out about things. A school is a place for educating children in a designated area and the time, overseen by certified and experienced personnels in learning environment.

Children can do variety of things that something positive can come of their holidays. Summertime may be a perfect time for teenagers to experience boredom forcing them to be creative. it is time to follow interests, discover new passions, and experiment.

Home Maker or Role of Woman in our life

While I published the blog of Women's Day, I was obvious in my mind that I would draft next blog at Home Maker. I even asked you in the blog but none mentioned me within the comments section of the blog. But I was suggested personally to choose the subject Home Maker only.

According to English Dictionary a Home Maker is "a married woman in charge of a household".

Worlds honour the presence of women in their lives by observing International Women's Day. Home Maker or Woman is the key to sustainable development and quality of life in the family.

National Home Maker's day is observed every year on November 3, to honour someone in our family who made things livable and easy for us carrying out all household chores. A Home Maker is always present in the family. The difference is only in full time or part time roles they choose. Whether you are part time or full time, it is compulsory acceptable, if you are happy with your role choice.

Neither a Home Maker nor a Career Woman is particularly better than the other.

It all depends on your individual circumstances and preferences. It is definitely okay to be a Home Maker if that position is financially and emotionally suitable for you. The only important thing is that you do not make decisions based on outside pressure. Just never let anyone make you feel inferior for your decisions.

If anyone tries to belittle you for your role of Home Maker remind them that instead of one job, you juggle about ten different roles and you do it all free. Home maker works 24/7 without any pay. She can not afford to take offs too.

Labor that's typically completed by Home Maker, especially in the home, tends to be undervalued and sometimes taken granted by spouses and society because of their lack of income or adherence to seemingly trivial work.

The Supreme Court recently said that value of Home Maker's work must be placed at par with that of her office going husband. As of Feb 20, 2021, the average annual pay for a Home Maker in United States is $23,773 a year.

There is no standard for being the perfect Home Maker. Today's Home maker communicate with her husband and does not do the parenting alone. Although some Home Makers of the 21st century fall into the trap of plopping their children in front of the television, a good Home Maker organize a variety of activities and play dates with other children.

Before worrying about perfectly fulfilling the role of a good Home Maker, prioritize being the best version of yourself that you can be.

When a Mother runs behind her toddler, she does not have any guilt pangs of not being to work in the corporate. After all, she is a Home Maker by her choice.

A Woman's heart is pure and her love is selfless. Strong families are very loyal to each other, share responsibilities, make decisions together, allow members to make their own decisions with support and find it easy trust one another.

Women's Day 2021

Today I am writing about Women's Day 2021. Every day is a Women's Day, and none can imagine this world without Woman. Woman is main element of life like salt. We never realize her presence, but absence is always marked.

In some places, Women's Day 2021 is a day of protest and at other places it is a day of celebration of womanhood.

International Women's day 2021 or 8th March 2021

International Women's day takes place on 8th March every year and this year, March 8 falls on Monday. This is a day dedicated to honoring the achievements of Women throughout history and across the globe and is typically a day for Women from all different backgrounds and cultures to band together to fight for gender parity and Women's rights.

History of International Women's day 2021 or 8th March 2021

According to the United Nations, Women's day started in America in 1909, when the socialist party of America took to streets to honour garment workers who had protested inhumane working conditions the year before. They called it National Women’s Day and it took place on February 28.

The idea to make the day, International came from a woman called, Clara Zetkin in 1910 at an international conference of working women in Copenhagen.

Facts of Women's Day 2021

On March 8, 1946, that feminist in Italy chose the Mimosa flower as a symbol of strength, sensibility and sensitivity for Women's day. Purple, Green and White are the colours of International Women's day. Purple signifies the justice and dignity. Green symbolizes hope. White represents purity. The International Women's day logo is a looping, arrowed circle with the female (or Venus) gender symbol at the inset. The campaign theme for International Women's day 2021 is "Choose To Challenge". From Challenge comes change. So, let us all #ChooseToChallenge.

International Women's day 2021 is not country, group nor organization specific. So, make International Women's day 2021 your day and do what you can to truly make a positive difference for women.

National Women's Day

India celebrates Sarojini Naidu's birthday as National Women's Day on February 13, every year. She was famous for nickname 'Nightingale of India' or 'Bharat Kokila' because of her literary contribution. She became the first woman governor of the United Province, the present Uttar Pradesh. In 1925, she became President of Indian National Congress. Sarojini Naidu was imprisoned for 21 months for participation on Gandhiji's Quit India Movement by British Government.

In modern times, technology developed, globalization and commercialism came into existence, but the status and position of women is rather deteriorated.

Do we still need an International Women's Day 2021?

Girl's education is a strategic development priority. Girls face barriers to education caused by poverty, cultural norms and practices and poor infrastructure, violence, and fragility (tenderness). According to a recent report, more than 41000 girls under the age of 18 marry every day. Putting an end to early marriage, would increase women expected educational attainment and with it, their potential earnings.

Women and girls are usually trafficked for the purpose of sexual and economic exploitation, forced labor, including commercial, agriculture and domestic work. Gender discrimination, poverty and lack of education, skills and employment causes girls trafficking also.

Gender equality prevents violence against women and girls. It is essential for economic prosperity. Societies that value women and men as equal are safer and healthier. Gender equality is a human right.

Available research shows that prevalence of violence against women has increased during the Pandemic. COVID-19 is having a negative impact on woman's health and well-being.

Although the Constitution of India guarantees to all Indian Women equality, no discrimination by the society, equality of opportunity. In addition, it renounces practices derogatory to the dignity of Women.

International Women's Day 2021

Women in India now participate fully in areas such as education, sports, politics, media, art, culture, service sectors, science, and technology.

We must focus on self-growth and encouragement while at the same time pushing one another to be better versions of ourselves on Women's Day 2021.

While writing the blog on Women's Day 2021, it seemed that this blog of Women's Day is incomplete without writing about Homemaker. But the blog of Women's Day does not get too long, so I did not write anything about the homemaker in it. And the homemaker or lady of the house is such a subject that I cannot write it in one paragraph. As you know that it is Shivaratri on 11th March, would you suggest me to write the next blog on Shivaratri or on Homemaker.

Haridwar Kumbh Mela 2021, What is Kumbh Mela and why it is celebrated?

What is Kumbh Mela?

Kumbh Mela is a major pilgrimage and festival in Hinduism. The Kumbh Mela takes place on a rotational basis in four of the holy Hindu places in India on the banks of the Godavari river in Nashik (Maharashtra), at the Shipra river in Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh), at the Ganges river in Haridwar (Uttarakhand) and at confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati rivers in Allahabad/Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh).

Why Kumbh Mela is celebrated?

Kumbh means a pot or pitcher. Mela means festival or fair. Hence the Kumbh Mela means festival of pot. According to legend once Gods lost their strength. To regain strength, Gods agreed with demons to churn the primordial ocean of milk for amrit (the nectar of immortality). However, a fight broke out and continued for 12 God's days or 12 human years. During the battle, the celestial bird, Garuda, flew away with kumbh of nectar. It is believed the nectar from the pot fell at four places Prayagraj, Ujjain, Haridwar and Nasik. At these four places Kumbh mela takes place.

Rituals of Kumbh Mela

The main ritual of Kumbh Mela is ritual bath. Hindu believes that bathing in the river Ganges on certain occasions causes the remission of sins and facilitates moksha (liberation from cycle of life and death).

It is believed that Ganges lived and flowed in heaven. King of Ayadhya, Bhagirath (Grandson of Sagar) brought sacred river Ganges to earth that's why she is also known as Bhagirathi river. The day Ganges arrived on earth is celebrated in India as Ganga Dussehra. She is treated as a mother and worshipped as a Goddess. Goddess Ganges is often depicted as a beautiful woman, riding a divine nature called makara. River Ganga is worshipped by Hindus as the goddess of purification and forgiveness. Pilgrims travel long distances to immerse the ashes of their kin in the precious water of the Ganges, bringing their spirits closer to moksha.

Kumbha Mela

Kumbh Mela, the largest religious gathering in the world, is held every 12 years in rotation at the four holy places of Haridwar, Allahabad (now known as Prayagraj), Ujjain and Nasik. The Maha Kumbh Mela 2021 will be held at Haridwar. Kumbh Mela 2021 began on 14th Jan 2021 on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sakranti. The Haridwar Kumbh Mela 2021 will come to an end on 27th April 2021 with fourth Shahi Snan. The size and scale of event has led it to be included as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Impact of the COVID-19 Pnademic on the Kumbh Mela

The bathing dates for a pilgrimage to the Kumbh Mela are determined according to the Vikram Samvat Calendar. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, advanced online booking and e-pass is required for four important Shahi snan dates (March 11, April 12, April 14, and April 27) and pilgrims will be allowed to spend up to 15 minutes in water of Ganges. At the Kumbh Mela Haridwar 2021 millions of people will gather to take a dip in the holy River Ganga.

Vasant Panchami 2021, Shree Panchami, Saraswati Pooja, 16th February

Vasant Panchami (also called Saraswati Puja) is a festival that marks the preparation for the arrival of spring season in India.

In Sanskrit "Vasant" means spring. "Panchami" is the fifth day of Shukla paksha, the fortnight of the waxing moon in the Hindu month of Magh, (which falls in late January or February). This year Vasant Panchami falls on Tuesday, February 16, 2021.

Yellow is the dominant color of this Vasant Panchami festival as it signifies the ripening of fruits and crops.

Spring Season

According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that Goddess Saraswati, who is deity of music, wisdom, art, science and the Saraswati river, was born on this auspicious day. God Brahma created Goddess Saraswati (who was born from his mouth) as the incarnation of knowledge on Vasant Panchami.

Goddess Saraswati helped God Brahma to form and finalize his creations. Saraswati created the moon, the stars and even the sun. Goddess Saraswati created Sanskrit language of Hinduism and even taught God Ganesh (the elephant headed god) to use a pen and write.

In our tradition, Goddess Saraswati married to God Brahma, however other legend claims that she was first married to God Vishnu, the preserver God of Trinity. God Vishnu had three wives at that time and decided to give Goddess Saraswati to God Brahma.

Goddess Saraswati

Goddess Saraswati is generally shown to have four arms, holding a book, a rosary, a water pot and a veena, the Hindu classical instrument. She is often depicted riding on a swan although sometimes she is accompanied by a peacock.

As per another Vasant Panchami story, God Rama ate half tested grapes of Mata Shabri on Vasant Panchami.

God Brahma is one of the three gods of Trimurti (Trinity), the one who created the universe. God Brahma is rarely actively worshipped, although God Brahma is one of the most important Hindu Gods. In our folk tales, one day God Brahma was unable to begin an important ritual on time, because Goddess Saraswati was late. God Brahma created a new wife Gayatri for that ceremony on the advice of Gods. When Goddess Saraswati eventually turned up and saw her husband God Brahma with another woman, she was devastated and angry and cursed God Brahma never to be worshipped by humanity.

World Cancer day is an international day, marked on February 4, 2021, to encourage prevention, detection and treatment of cancer as cancer awareness day.

The primary goal of cancer awareness day is raise awareness and to target misinformation of cancer.

Most People's first thought is cancer, when they notice a new lump, while cyst and tumors are two common types of lumps. It can be hard to tell them apart without diagnosis. Both cysts and tumors can appear in your skin, tissues, organs and bones.

A cyst is small sac filled with air, fluid and other material, while tumor refers to any unusual growth of extra tissue.

Depending on the types of cells in a tumor it can be Benign and Malignant Tumors. Benign tumor does not contain cancerous cells and they won't invade surrounding of tissues or spread elsewhere.

Malignant tumors are cancerous and cancer is a group of disease involving abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body. Normally our body constantly produce new cells to replace old ones. Sometimes DNA gets damaged in the process, so new cells develop abnormally. Instead of dying off they continue to multiply faster than the immune system can handle, forming a malignant tumor.

There are more than hundred types of cancer, names of cancer are usually named for the organs and tissues where the cancer from, and symptoms vary depending on the type.

The disease was first called cancer by Greek physician, Hippocrates. He is considered as the father of Medicines. Hippocrates used the Greek words carcinos and carcinoma to describe tumors thus calling cancer 'karkinos'. Hippocrates used these Greek terms to describe the resemblance of tumor with crab.

Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the World. Thus to raise the awareness of cancer and encourage its prevention National Cancer Awareness Day is observed every year on November 7 in India. Union Health Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan first announced National Cancer Awareness Day in September 2014.

The 'World Cancer day 2021' theme is "I am and I Will".

The Ribbon is a symbol of awareness and support. A lavender ribbon is usually a sign of support for those living with all types of cancer. Pink ribbons are synonymous with Breast Cancer Awareness particularly in October.

Certain types of cancer can be diagnosed initially by visual inspection, though a biopsy is necessary to confirm the diagnosis. Biopsy is the only way to confirm the presence of cancer.

Cancer can be treated by surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, hormonal therapy and targeted therapy.

Cancer do not routinely go away and none is suggesting that patients avoid treatment because of such occasional occurrences. Cancer is not a fungus. It is the uncontrolled division of abnormal human cells within the body.

Regular exercise, healthy diet, adequate sleep, avoiding tobacco and alcohol, regular checkups can reduce the risk of developing cancer.

World Cancer day has grown into a positive movement for everyone, everywhere to unite under one voice to face one of greatest challenges in history as cancer awareness day.

On January 26, 2021 i.e. today, India will celebrate its 72nd Republic day to honour the historic day when the country became an independent republic.

The Constitution of India came into effect on January 26, 1950 which affirm India's existence as an Independent Republic.

Here are some facts about the Indian Constitution.

A draft committee was appointed for drafting the Constitution of India with Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar as the chairman on 29th August 1947. The Drafting committee took less than six months to prepare its draft.
M. N. Roy, an advocate of radical democracy, was put forth the idea for framing of Constitution of India for and according to Indians first in 1934.
The draft of Constitution of India was submitted to the Indian Constituent Assembly on November 4, 1947. The draft was put up for debate and discussion, over 2000 amendments were made before it was finalized.
The Constituent Assembly took almost three years to complete its historic task of drafting constitution of India.
The Constitution of India was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26th November 1949.
On January 24, 1950, each member of the Constituent Assembly that drafted the Constitution, signed two handwritten copies of the Constitution of India, one in Hindi and one in English, at the Constitution Hall, now known as the Central Hall of Parliament in New Delhi, India.
Two days later on, January 26, 1950, the history was made, Constitution of India came into effect throughout the nation.
The constituent assembly ceased to exist and became the Parliament of India under the transition provisions of the new Constitution.
The original Constitution of India was handwritten by Prem Behari Narain Raizada.
Each page of the Constitution of India is uniquely decorated by artists from Shantiniketan including Beohar Rammanohar Sinha and Nandlal Bose.
The Constitution of India was published in Dehradun.
The Constitution of India is the lengthiest written constitution in the World. In its current form, it has a preamble, 22 parts with 448 articles, 12 schedules, 5 appendices and 115 amendments.
The Preamble of the Constitution of India begin with "We the People".
The Indian Constitution is often called "a bag of borrowings". It has borrowed provisions from the Constitutions of other countries.
The original copies of the Constitution of India written in Hindi and English, are kept in special helium-filled cases in the library of Parliament of India.
There have been only 103 amendments to the Constitution of India, as of January 2019 since it was first enacted in 1950.

The Constitution of India is the supreme law of India. The Constitution of India is written instrument of basic principles and laws of a nation, state or social group that determine the powers and duties of the government and guarantee certain rights to the people in it.

India Republic day 2021 parade and chief guest

India Republic day, 2021 celebration

India Republic day is celebrated with great pride and zeal to honour the Indian Constitution of Independent India all over the India on 26th January.

On this day, Constitution came into force across the country on January 26, 1950, replacing the Government of India Act, 1935. On the same day, the emblem of India was adopted.

January 26th was chosen for India Republic day because on January 26, 1930, the Indian National Congress announced 'Purna Swaraj', the declaration of India's Independence from the British Raj.

On this occasion of India Republic day, I would like to share with you some interesting facts, such as the National Emblem of India, flag hoisting and flag unfurling, flag history and India Republic day Parade, which I think you need to know as an Indian citizen.

National emblem of India - State Emblem

Dinanath Bhargava, a 21-years-old artist with legendary painter Nandlal Bose, sketched and illuminated India's National emblem, the Lion capital of Ashoka.

The State Emblem of India is an adaptation from the Saarnath, Lion Capital of Ashoka which is preserved in Saarnath Museum, Uttar Pradesh, India.

The Lion Capital has four lions standing back to back mounted on a circular abacus. The abacus has sculptures of an elephant, a galloping horse, a bull, and a Lion. The Lion Capital is crowned by the wheel of the Law (Dharma Chakra). The Ashoka Chakra is also known as Samay chakra in which the 24 spokes represent 24 hours of the day. It has the national motto "Satyamev Jayate" (Truth alone triumphs), written below it.

Flag hoisting and Flag unfurling

On the Independence day, the national flag is tied at the bottom, Prime Minister raises it up and unfurls it. To honour the Historical event of August 1947, Indian Flag is hoisted at the Red Fort, New Delhi.

On the other hand, the flag remains closed and tied up on the top, which is then unfurled without pulling it up on the India Republic day at Rajpath, New Delhi, by President of India.

Flag History

Initially, a student named Pingali (Pingalay) Venkayya presented a flag design to Mahatma Gandhi, that consisted of two colours associated with the two principal religions, red for the Hindus and green for Muslims in 1921. Mahatma Gandhi added the white stripe in centre of the Indian Flag for the other religious communities in India. The idea of addition of traditional spinning wheel was put forth by Lala Hansraj. Indian Flag is approved and officially recognized with the modification, use of saffron colour instead of red colour, in August, 1931. To avoid the sectarian (related to Particular sector or religion) association of the original proposal, new attributions were added, saffron stands for courage and sacrifice, white stands for peace and truth and Green stands for faith and bravery.

The spinning Wheel was replaced by Blue Chakra (Dharma Chakra- Wheel of the Law) on 22nd July 1947. The Dharma Chakra, which was associated with the emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BCE, appeared on pillars erected throughout the Mauryan Empire.

The Flag should always be hoisted from sunrise to sunset. Tricolour should not be in untidy or disrespected condition. Karnataka Khadi Gramudyoga Sanyukta Sangh (KKGSS), located in Garaj village near Hubli in Dharwad District, Karnataka India, is only authorized to manufacture and supply of the Indian Flag.

India Republic day Parade

The India Republic day parade will be presided over by the President of India, who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces. 14th President of India, Ramnath Kovind, will unfurl the Tricolor at India Gate (India Gate designed by Edwin Lutyens) at 9 am and National anthem will be played. The Prime Minister (PM) of India, Narendra Modi, will honour the martyrs by putting a wreath on Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate, New Delhi, (Capital of India).

The tableaux theme for the India Republic day 2021 is titled 'Ayodhya: Cultural Heritage Uttar Pradesh '. It will present a glimpse of the Deepotsav in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India.

This year number of spectators, path and the Parade will be restricted due to COVID-19 pandemic for the celebration of India Republic day 2021. Mobile phones, Cameras and all other electronics devices are not allowed in India Republic day Parade.

British Prime Minister, Boris Jonhson, was invited as chief guest for India Republic day 2021 Parade. He was forced to cancel his visit due to outbreak of new COVID-19 strain in the UK. There will be no chief guest this year. Before this, India did not have a chief guest for the Republic Parade in 1952, 1953 and 1966.

Awards are presented to the brave soldiers, even children and general citizen (who have displayed courage in adversity) in the form of Paramvir Chakra, Ashoka Chakra and Vir Chakra on India Republic day.

Magnificent parades at Janpath, New Delhi, comprising the Indian National Army and National Flag hoisting in various parts of the country are common practices followed on this India Republic day.

COVID-19 Vaccination drive in India (COVISHIELD and COVAXIN)

Today is the day, we were eagerly waiting from a very long period. The country launched its COVID-19 vaccination drive, today. India's regulator has granted restricted emergency use approval for two vaccines- COVISHIELD and COVAXIN.

This is the World's largest immunization exercise. We got the opportunity to become the witness of COVID-19 Vaccination drive in India, this Indian historical event, and this day i.e. January 16, 2021, will be remembered as Indian Event day in Future.

The country's massive nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive kicked off by PM Modi via video conferencing on 16 January, 2021. PM Modi also launched the government's Co-WIN (COVID Vaccine Intelligence Network) app, a digital platform created for real time monitoring of coronavirus vaccines delivery and distribution, on the same day.

Two Hospitals are prepared for PM interaction with vaccinated staff. The cost of vaccination of healthcare and frontline workers are borne by the Centre. A dedicated 24*7 hotline -1075 has also been set up to address queries related to vaccine rollout and Co-WIN software.

Indian Government approved first, COVISHIELD, COVID-19 vaccine, as very safe and effective vaccine. The Centre planed to vaccinate nearly 3 crores healthcare workers and frontline workers followed by those above 50 years and under 50 years with comorbidities (diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, hypertension and psychiatric orders) in this COVID-19 Vaccination drive.

Vaccinators have to store both vaccines at +2 degree to +8 degree temperature, protect them from light and discard the vaccine if found to be frozen.

Centre has shared a leaflet of DO's and DON'Ts, highlighting precautions and contradictions for vaccination along with a comparative factsheet, both the vaccines (Covishield and Covaxin), two days before roll out of COVID-19 Vaccination drive in India.

DO's and DON'Ts of COVID-19 vaccine.

1. Administration of COVID-19 vaccine should be done separated by only interval of 14 days.

2. Interchanging of COVID-19 vaccines are not allowed. The second dose should be of the same vaccine of which the first dose was administrated.

3. COVID-19 vaccination is allowed only for 18 years and above.

Contradictions

1. Persons with history of any allergic reaction to a previous dose of COVID-19 Vaccine.

2. Pregnant women and lactating mothers should not receive the vaccine.

3. People who show an immediate or delayed onset of an allergic reaction to vaccines or injectable therapies, pharmaceutical products and food items.

The vaccines should be given with "caution" to the persons with a history of any bleeding or coagulation disorder.

Possible adverse reaction mentioned in the Factsheet for both vaccines:

It is normal to have certain reactions after a vaccination. There may be redness, swelling or pain around the injection site. Fatigue, fever, headache and aching limbs are also common in first these days after vaccination. These normal vaccine reactions are usually mild and subside after a few days.

In such cases, the factsheets says the common painkiller paracetamol may be used.

Rare Adverse Events for Both the Vaccines-:

The rare adverse events, for Covishield, the nerves in body are with a protective layer called myelin like a network of electric wires that helps transmit message from the brain smoothly through the body. Conditions that damage myelin are called demyelinating disorders. The factsheets says "very rare events of demyelinating disorders" have been reported following vaccination with Covishield "without the causal relationship establishment".

Bharat Biotech, the manufacturer of Covaxin, has said no serious adverse event has been reported in phase 1, phase 2 and phase 3 trials (phase 3 trials with 25800 participants). Bharat Biotech also said that chloroquine and corticosteroids, both used as repurposed drugs in Covid-19 clinical management, "may impair antibody response" likely to be triggered by the vaccine.

Both Pfizer and Moderna report that their COVID-19 Vaccinations are approximately 95% effective at preventing both mild and severe symptoms of COVID-19.

Widespread COVID-19 Vaccination for the coronavirus will limit the spread of COVID -19 through communities.

Since India is land of great biodiversity, different states celebrate a large number of harvest festivals. It is the time to reap the harvest and so is the time to celebrate. For India, mainly dependent on agriculture, harvest is the one of the most important event across the nation. Popularly known as Lohri, Makar Sakranti, Pongal and Maghi, the festivals celebrate cultivation across the India and also an important astronomical change going on in solar system.

Makar Sakranti

It marks the first day of Sun's transition into Makara (Capricorn) Raashi (Zodiac sign) and it is observed in the month of January. This day, also known as Maghi, is a major Harvest festival and is dedicated to the Sun.

Makar Sakranti is incomplete without 'Til Gud' (sesame seeds and jaggery mixed together to make sweets). According to Hindu Mythology, the God Yama (God of Death) blessed the sesame seeds hence they are regarded as the symbol of immortality. If historians are to be believed that sesame seed originated when sweat drops trickled from God Vishnu and fell on the ground. It is suggested to consume sesame seeds during winter on a daily basis because it contains healthy fats, protein, B vitamins, fiber and antioxidants that helps to protect the body during adverse weather conditions.

A million bright colored Kites can be seen all over the sky from the moment the sun rises and till it sets on Makar Sakranti. According to some beliefs the tradition of Kite flying on Makar Sakranti is being carried out so that people are exposed to Sun rays.

Pongal

Pongal or Thai Pongal is a major festival of South India and is celebrated annually in the month of January. The meaning of the Pongal is 'Boiling Over' and this festival is celebrated as a Thanksgiving ceremony for the year's harvest. It has been named after the tradition of boiling freshly harvested rice in a new clay pot along with milk and jaggery until it starts overflowing. This signifies auspicious begging, along with the gradual heating of Earth by Sun.

Pongal sweet is made by devotees to offer to the God Sun. Since it is a four day festival, each day has its own significance. The four days of Pongal festival are called Bhogi Pongal, Surya Pongal, Mattu Pongal and Kaanum pongal.

Lohri

Bonfires, music and good food are major highlights of this festivity. Lohri is celebrated on a fixed date i.e. January 13 every year. This festival marks the end of winter solstice, harvesting of the rabi crops and remembrance of Sun God. A bonfire is lit and popcorns, peanuts, rewari and gajak are savored to all neighbour, friends and relatives over the Dhol beats. Lohri song mention the Sun God asking for heat and thanking him for his return. Some legend explain the celebration of folk reverence for fire or the goddess of Lohri.

The festival is seasonal observance as well as a religious celebration. You can not be a part of public gatherings during COVID-19, need to follow all the safety guidelines such as wearing mask, washing hands regularly, and maintaining social distancing.

Why NRI day or PBD is celebrated

Pravasi Bhartiya Divas (PBD) 2021 or Non-Resident Indian (NRI) day 2021 is celebrated on 9th January by the Republic of India to remember the favors and contribution made by Non-Resident Indians to the welfare and development of the Nation.

On January 9, 1915, Mahatma Gandhi came to India from South Africa and became the greatest Pravasi who led India's freedom struggle and made India free from British or colonial rule. As a Non-Resident Indian or Pravasi, he is represented as a symbol of change that could bring into India.

Explanation about NRI, PIO and OCI

According to Indian Government, NRI has global exposure in terms of business and development strategies around the World. In simple terms, an Indian citizen residing outside India for a combined total of at least 183 days in a financial year is considered to be an Non-Resident Indian (NRI). NRI's are eligible to vote and most importantly, any income earned outside India is not taxable in India, provided it is properly taxed in the nation where NRI resides. Therefore, only the income they have earned in India is taxable in India. If NRI exceeds their stay in India beyond 120 days, the NRI will technically become resident, as per the income tax rules requiring him to pay tax on his global income.

An Individual who is an Indian by birth or by descent (family origin), who lives outside India is a PIO. However, Indian Government withdrew the PIO card scheme and it was merged with the OCI card scheme.

Due to increasing demand for dual citizenship, the Indian Government introduced an Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) card that authorized a foreign citizen of Indian to live and work in India for an Indefinite period. OCI is not the citizenship and does not grant the right to vote in Indian elections or hold public office (chosen or elected for government job).

Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra

The Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra was established in 2011 for networking between India and the Indian community abroad. The Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra or PBK is used to organize seminars, activities, workshops, and events pertaining to Indian Diaspora (diaspora means people who share a common heritage but scattered in different parts of the World). In a solemn tribute to Late external affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, the Indian government has renamed Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra as Sushma Swaraj Bhawan on the eve of her 68th Birth anniversary on 14th February, 2020.

PBD Convention 2021

First Pravasi Bhartiya Divas or Non-Resident Indian day was celebrated on 9th January 2003 and was observed annually till 2015. In 2016 the Ministry of External Affairs decided to make the event biennial and since then it is celebrated every second year.

16th PBD convention 2021 would be inaugurated by Mr. Narendra Modi, Hon'ble Prime Minister of India and chief guest will be the Chan Santokhi, Suriname President. The theme of the 16th PBD 2021 (Pravasi Bhartiya Divas) is "Contributing to Aatmanirbhar Bharat". In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it was decided to uphold the 16th PBD convention 2021 in a virtual format with the participants joining the convention online. The Pravasi Bhartiya Samman Awards will be announced to honor the eminent overseas Indians for their contributions in various fields, both in India and Abroad. 16th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas convention and pre PBD conferences are available for live stream on the PBD official Website : www.pbdindia.gov.in

PBD Convention is the flagship event of the Government of India and provides an important platform to engage and connect with overseas Diaspora.

Presently, there are nearly 31 millions overseas Indians globally of which nearly 13 millions are PIOs (Person of Indian Origin) and 17 millions are NRIs (Non-Resident Indian). We warmly invite them to be a part of 16th PBD convention 2021 and be a stakeholder in the blueprint for India's success. PBD convention's main aim is to connect Indian Diaspora.

What is World Braille day?

World Braille day is celebrated annually on January 4th because it is Louis Braille's Birthday. He is inventor of Braille. Louis Braille was born on January 4, 1809 in the town of Coupvray near Paris, France. The day recognizes the contribution of Louis Braille in helping blind and visually impaired people to read and write.

Who was Louis Braille?

Braille was himself blinded at the age of three in an accident that occurred while he was playing with tools in his father's harness shop. A tool is slipped and plunged into his eye. With the help of his father and local priest he was accepted at National Institute for Blind children in Paris, the World's first school for the blind. When Louis was only 15 years old, he created a reading and writing system for people with blindness based on Charles Barbier's night writing system. Braille named after its inventor in 19th century, France.

What is Braille?

Braille is a system of reading and writing for persons in which raised dots represent the letters of the alphabet. People read Braille by moving their fingertips from left to right across the lines of dots. Braille is a tactile representation of alphabetic and numerical symbols using six dots to represent each letter and number and even musical, mathematical and scientific symbols.

Each Braille character or cell is made up of six dot positions arranged in a rectangle comprising 2 columns of 3 dots each. A dot may be raised at any of the 6 positions or any combination, counting the space in which no dots are raised, there are 64 such combinations. Braille books are more expensive than other college text books. Braille is not actually a language it is a system of writing.

Why World Braille day celebrated?

French and rest of the World eventually realized what a valuable contribution, Louis Braille had made to the lives of blind person. The day for the event chosen by the United Nations General Assembly via proclamation in November 2018 for creating awareness and making people understand the importance of Braille as a means of communication. The first World Braille day was celebrated on January 4, 2019.

Louis Braille died at the age of 43 on January 6, 1852 of tuberculosis. He was a French educator and inventor of a system of reading and writing for use by the blind or visually impaired. This system remains virtually unchanged to this day and known as World wide simply as Braille. Without Braille it is very difficult for blind people to learn how to read and write. Now a days, you will find Braille on objects you use every day like signs, ATMs, elevators, calculators and more.

Happy new year 2021, calendar history, types of calendars

New Year is the time or day at which a new calendar year begins and Calendar's year count increments by one. In the Gregorian Calendar, the most widely used, the new year occurs on January 1. This was the first day of Julian Calendar and of the Roman Calendar (after 153 BC) also.

Julian Calendar introduced by the authority of Julius Caesar in 45 BC. It was replaced by Gregorian calendar thought, although it is still used by some orthodox churches.

Roman Calendar year originally had ten months, a calendar which was ascribed to the legendary first king, Romulus. The oldest calendar still in use is the Jewish Calendar, which has been in popular use since the 9th century BC.

In India four types of calendars are followed: Vikram Samvat, Saka Samvat, Hijri Calendar and Gregorian Calendar.

Gregorian calendar used in the international standard for representation of dates and time. This solar calendar was introduced by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582. The BC/AD system (terms used to label or number the years in Gregorian and Julian Calendar) was devised (invented) by a monk named Dionysius Exiguus of Scythia in the year 525. AD stands for anno domini, Latin for "in the year of lord", refers to specifically to birth of Jesus Christ and BC stands for "before Christ".

BCE (Before the common Era) and CE (Common era or Current era) are alternatives used to the Dionysian BC and AD notations respectively to avoid reference to Christianity. Please note AD is written before the year, while BC, BCE and CE are all written after the year.

The Vikram Samvat is named after the legendary King Vikramaditya of Ujjain, who by tradition started this calendar back in 57 BC. Vikram Samvat calendar starts on first day of the Hindu Chaitra month. According to Gregorian calendar, this day falls in the month of March or April. The lunisolar Vikram Samvat calendar is 56.7 years ahead of the solar Gregorian calendar, the year 2077 vikram samvat (BS) began in 2020 CE and will end in 2021 CE.

The Saka Era is believed to was founded by King Shalivanhana of Shatavahana dynasty and this samvat was started from 78 BC. The Saka Samvat calendar, a historic Hindu calendar introduced as Indian National Calendar in 1957. The Saka Calendar consists of 365 days and 12 months which is similar to the structure of Gregorian calendar.

Shaka and Vikram samvat both the samvat are same and they have same names of months and both consist of Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha also. But the difference is only the new month starts in the Vikram samvat with the Krishna Paksha which comes after the full moon (Purnima), whereas the new month begins in the Shaka samvat with Shukla Paksha which comes after the new moon (Amavasya). The December 2020, according to the Saka calendar, is 1942.

The Islamic Calendar, also known as the Hijri, Lunar Hijri, Muslim or Arabic calendar, was officially created during the reign of Khalifa Umar ibn al-Khattab. The prophet's migration or hijra in 622 AD marks the beginning of the Hijri year calendar and gives the calendar its name. In the Gregorian calendar reckoning, 1442 AH ( AH stands for "in the year of Hijra") runs from approximately 20 August 2020 to 9 August 2021.

As we all know that we have entered in the New Year 2021, the old year taught us a lot and we learned to fight an epidemic like COVID-19 in 2020 and Online Classes begun to be need of the hour for small kids too, people realized the Role of Internet during Lockdown. GITA SAAR (ESSENCE OF GITA) in English and Hindi

On the occasion of Gita Jayanti 2020, I thought to inform some more facts of Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, a religious scripture that enriches one's mind and self with true knowledge.

The beauty of the text of Gita, is that all this has been narrated between two friends, Arjuna and Krishna, who were at the verge of entering into the most fierce battle of their lifetime.

Bhagavad Gita's verses are inscribed on the walls of marble courtyard of Jyotisar, where God Krishna gave the Gita Preaching to Arjuna before the battle of Mahabharat.

Before reading the Bhagavad Gita, it is useful to read the Gita Mahatmya (glorification of Bhagavad Gita).

Krishna had explained Arjuna through Gita Saar that this is a war of Dharma. The Kauravas are on the side of Adharma and had broke rules and laws and hence Arjuna have to do his Karma to uphold Dharma.

Gita Saar (Essence of Geeta)

Whatever happened was good.

Whatever is happening is good.

Whatever will happened will also be good.

What have you parted with that makes you cry?

What did you bring with you that have you lost?

What did you create which is now destroyed?

What you have taken, you have taken only from here.

What was given was given only from here.

What is yours today, was someone else's yesterday, will be someone else's tomorrow.

Gita Jayanti 2020 के अवसर पर, मैंने एक धार्मिक ग्रंथ गीता के कुछ और तथ्यों की जानकारी देने के बारे में सोचा, जो किसी के मन और आत्म को सच्चे ज्ञान से समृद्ध करता है।

गीता के पाठ की सुंदरता यह है कि यह सब दो दोस्तों, अर्जुन और कृष्ण के बीच सुनाया गया है, जो अपने जीवनकाल के सबसे भयंकर युद्ध में प्रवेश करने के कगार पर थे।

भगवद् गीता के छंद ज्योतिसर के संगमरमर के आंगन की दीवारों पर अंकित हैं, जहाँ भगवान कृष्ण ने महाभारत के युद्ध से पहले अर्जुन को गीता उपदेश दिया था।

भगवद गीता पढ़ने से पहले गीता महात्म्य (भगवद गीता का महिमामंडन) पढ़ना उपयोगी है।

कृष्ण ने गीता सार के माध्यम से अर्जुन को समझाया था कि यह धर्म युद्ध है। कौरव धर्म के पक्ष में हैं और उन्होंने नियम और कानून तोड़े हैं और इसलिए अर्जुन को धर्म को बनाए रखने के लिए अपने कर्म करने होंगे।

गीता सार (गीता का सार)

जो भी हुआ अच्छा हुआ।

जो भी हो रहा है अच्छा है।

जो भी होगा अच्छा भी होगा।

आपने क्या किया है जिससे आप रोते हैं?

तुम क्या लेकर आए हो जो तुमने खो दिया है?

तुमने क्या बनाया जो अब नष्ट हो गया है?

आपने जो लिया है, वह आपने यहां से ही लिया है।

जो दिया गया था वह केवल यहीं से दिया गया था।

आज जो तुम्हारा है, वह कल किसी और का था, कल किसी और का होगा।
