Intel XOLO into attack

Everyone is eyeing the mobile phone market and now Intel has entered the market with its XOLO X900.

This is the phone with the fastest processor clock speed available now. It has a 1.6 Ghz intel Atom processor. It is a single threaded processor with HT technology. It has a good 1GB of RAM.

Every thing looks cool in this mobile. It is currently sold at a price of 22000 Rs which is also good.

The main drawbacks i found is that this phone does not come with a LED display. Also it has a very small powered battery. I dont know it can cope with the power hungry screen and the processor.

Lets see how it is going to change the market for Intel.

I have written the Indian Bank clerical cadre examination for this year 2009 nearly three months back.

Actually I wrote the exam at 21.6.2009, still I have no idea whether the result is announced or not. I am frequently visiting the banks career page and there is no new notification.

Also I am keeping a watch on the newspapers. I got nothing. So I searched the internet for the clerk exam results and got only two month old results.

I decided to post immediately if I get the news about the results.

I already said that Twitter automatically reset my password and I changed my password to a stronger one.

But after some minutes after changing the password again I got an email from Twitter again saying that it had reset my password. I think there is some problem with Twitter.

I hope it will become smooth again.

Hi today I got a lot of messages (email) from Twitter stating that my account is vulnerable to attack so Twitter automatically reset your password. Then it asked me to click a link to reset my password.

I suspected that this would be an attack to phish my password, so I checked mail headers and confirmed that the mail actually arrived from Twitter.

Still I was not convinced so I opened the Twitter homepage and tried to log in with my credentials but I was unable to get inside. Then I clicked the link and changed my password.

Twitter advised me to revoke the access to third party followers increase system, since they my try to steal our data. It also stated that the account will be suspended if any suspicious activities happen in my Twitter account. So I revoked access most of the third party applications from my account.

If you have allowed any followers increase programs to access your Twitter account I advise you to revoke the access from them.

Karur Vysya Bank invites application for Probationary Officers 2009

Hi Karur Vysya Bank invited application for the post of probationary officers. The last date for the application is 29th of this month (29/9/2009). The date of examination is not yet announced.

The minimum academic qualification for this interview is a PG degree in any course and B.E/B.Tech with a percentage of 60% and above. Candidates who finished PG degree and awaiting the result can also apply for the examination.

The thing that should be noted is that the candidates who finished the above degree through correspondence/ open university are not eligible to take the examination.

Technical qualification is important, the non computer science candidates applying for this examination should possess a certificate in computer science from any well established institution.

The age limit is 30 years as on 31.8.2009.

The exam fee is Rs. 250/- and only 100/- for SC/ST candidates. The candidate should take a DD in favor of Karur Vysya Bank payable at Chennai.

Call letters will not be delivered to candidates house. All details are given through only emails.

Don't forget to use a firewall

Hi my system is a dual boot system with Microsoft Windows XP and Linux Ubuntu. I connect to internet.
I am using Firestarter firewall in Linux and Outpost firewall in Microsoft Windows XP. While using Linux I see that my firewall is blocking a lot of incoming connection mostly UDP traffic and other unknown traffic.
But in Windows my firewall is not at all blocking any connection. I checked the traffic logs.
The thing is, I came to know the importance of using firewall, because on average your computer is attacked by hundreds of unknown packets per hours when directly connected to the internet.
If all these packets enter your computer then think, your network performance will be reduced and also there is a great risk of data theft, identity theft and IP hijacking is possible.
So be wise and try to use a firewall as I am.

CG-VAK second technical round

Hi day before yesterday I attended the second technical round. Actually I was called twice by this company to attend this round. So I travelled confidently that I would get placed in this company. But my performance in this interview is very bad.
I made mistakes even in silly questions. The first technical round was held by a senior programmer whereas the second technical round was by the project head itself.
The question were mainly focused on C++, OOPS and Java. However I managed to answer somewhat correctly. But I think I will not called for the next round.
Let's see.

Get into Windows XP without a password

It is very easy to get into a Windows XP system which is protected by password. The windows Xp OS in addition to our user accounts, keeps another account named Administrator which is not protected by password.
If you forget the password of your system then while booting the system press F8 key repeatedly. You should start doing this when the system BIOS information are displayed. This will bring the advanced boot menu of the OS. In some system pressing F8 will show up the boot device priority menu which lists primary hard drive, CD drive etc. In this case select hard disk and immediately start pressing F8 again, this will show up the advanced boot menu of the Windows OS.
If you have a dual boot system then the list of OS will be shown, here select Windows and start pressing F8.
After getting the boot menu select the Safe Mode.
That's all, the user login screen will now show an additional account named Administrator. You can now login through this account and perform the desired task.

I actually got bored with the internet connection am having because of the same series of activities like mail checking, chatting etc. Last week while browsing through a forum I read about MTURK, a site which pays us for doing some activities given there.

The site is maintained by Amazon so it is surely not a scam site. I decided to give a try and signed up for a free account. Luckily I got some very simple works such as email extraction and web scraping. I did 2 hours work and my balance there is 5$.

For writer this site is a boon because for a 300 word article the requesters are ready to pay 2$. I never tried those activities as I have poor English knowledge.

I searched the internet for similar site and I found two, they are ShortTask and MicroWorkers. In these ShortTask is widely said as scam and MicroWorker is not offering much work.

Just give a try guys because it might be useful for pocket money.

Counter Strike is one of the best games I have ever played. The beauty of the game can be realized only while played in LAN network with your friends. It would be very exciting and thrilling when played with your friends.
This game is exactly like a real life battle, all the dynamics, guns etc are like real life things.

A better way to protect your pen drive from virus.

This is the way I use to protect my pen drive from viruses. This method involves the creation of two system files in your pen drive.

You have to create two files in your pen drive.

1. A folder named AUTORUN.INF

After creating open the command prompt to this directory and type this command--- attrib +r +s +h AUTORUN.INF

2. Creation of a empty system file.

-- First open folder option and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file type" an the view section.

-- Apply the setting and now create a text file in the pen drive.
-- Now rename the file as RECYCLER(delete the extension .txt).
--Run this command in the pen drive directory-> attrib +h +r +s RECYCLER

That's all you have create the necessary files and your pen drive is not vulnerable to virus. Even virus attack your pen drive it will not autorun on your PC.

My experience with Ubuntu

I have been using Ubuntu for more than a year. It is developing every six months. The entire OS is updated every six months.

It is easy to install softwares with this OS. You should have an internet connection to get softwares. Just with few click you can find the software of your choice and install it.

I thought I must need a PC suite to connect my phone with Ubuntu, but there is no need for any PC suites. You just connect your phone or camera etc to the system, immediately the device is ready to use with the system.
