With your help I am hoping to fill a medium size gift bag full of Rebecca Danger's Monster Chunk in an assortment of colors and by like minded artistic people as Sita is! Every four Monster Chunk you send me will earn you another chance to win some yummy sock yarn, enough to do two pairs of socks and a $5.00 pattern on Ravelry plus other prizes as a BIG thank you!

End date of this Chunky Drive will be the first of May so that by the twenty-sixth I should have all Monster Chunks. If you don't have safety eyes then that is perfectly fine to just make the body and feet and I will add the eyes & mouth via a assembly line when I do mine.

These chunks can also be crochet for a much quicker work as I found, as I completely winged it chaining 6-9 and joining with a single crochet and then crocheting around, adding a chain every other for the first several arounds. Crazy Busy Crafter

I must be off my happy meds, for I'm doing what may be a much bigger challenge then my ~~nerves and~~ carpal tunnel, budget or stash are ready for come this March 24th here in The Falls. Even splitting the cost of a standard hall table it's not too much or that this will really be the first sort of event/thing doing with a newer friend that I met through Renna. Two weeks before Easter I will be participating in my very first Craft Show at the Royal Canadian Legion at 5603 Spring St. Niagara Falls Ontario on March 24th. I will be selling stitch markers for small needles and mostly for larger mammoth needles, as I've mentioned before, in my knittery circles large stitch markers is in demand. For the time being the prices will be rather affordable with up to four to five markers in each set. Also there will be some Gerberts & MeMes and I am planning on making a bunny of some sort since Easter would be just around the corner. In the unlikely event, I will also be taking orders for future Gerberts, MeMes, monsters and/or stitch markers and I am told I will have buisness cards by the time the Craft Show happens... *squeee* This Craft Show I would NEVER ever consider doing before I got up and helped myself. The mere idea of doing something would send me running for the hills not to mention the interacting with people, talking and handling of money - omg - forget about it!! I'm almost a big girl! *lmao* So I'll stumble but it DOES NOT matter what people think of me, as long as I am having fun and doing what I want to that is ALL that matters. Now if I can shut off my brain in thinking up other little things to add to the table - apparently if I don't sleep for the next few weeks could I get them done. lol I say, if my subconcious wants them then it better get to figuring out how I can knit in my sleep without screwing it up!!

What I think I'm more apprehensive about, is the math end in making change as I get frazzeld when I'm rushed to make change and count so I'm specifically making sure the prices are dollar amounts; the bigger reason I asked the friend to participate with me. That and neither of us could fill a table on our own so ideally w/ both of our things should take some pressure off ourselves... at least that was the plan. Not saying I'm stressed already by it but I have had two big headaches this week. I CAN get the items knitted w/o killing myself. The women that I spoke to is eaggered to see these monsters so that is greatly motivating me to implicate some child friendly changes and some pattern modifications. The Gerbert I'm about to finish not has cat eyes I purchased Christmas time and to me is a bit creepy funny and oddly kind of cute.

Between working on the monsters I'm drilling away at the Moebius Wedding, Monster Chunks and the odd crochet dishcloth (that I may or may not sell at the show as well). Does that sound crazy busy to you, I'm starting to think it is to me? Though the Moebius Wedding is handy when I'm helping out my neighbour and can drop the knitting and rush to a sofa as a daring little boy pulls himself up onto a sofa to jump and sip at his baba!

The last Friday of Janary Renna brought back from the Joanne's where she's staying two pairs of sock yarn from this rare and magical store. So in the next episode of the podcast I should be able show you the second two balls of the prizey for the Monster Chunk drive.

That has been what has been happening in my little world of craziness the past week or so, along side of migranes and missing Renna and being a bit of a baby about it things move on here - just a slower pace as it's still cold out! *lol*

For the last two years, I have shared my thoughts, experiences, questions and “squees” of crafty bliss from one odd cookie in comparison to the billion of crafting blogs online! Originally when I started this blog I really had no ideal or plan as to what to do or how things would progress and really an acquaintance of mine had launched hers and thus planted the seed. Germination for everyone varies for an idea to take root and to blossom fully into a full on want & drive that has produced a one of a kind blog and whisper in the crafty community.

It hasn’t always been a blog of calmness, happy joy-joy bliss and making sense, for that I leave up to the other bloggers out there that have some semblance of their sanity letf! I often loose track of the purpose, the point and the mere goal of why I keep blogging away …keep up a specific journal for something that is so geared to such a unique and immensely creativity individual portions of society. Working with crafts of all types, be they with paper, hardware & industrial or yarn and all its forms is akin to a good form of a compulsion in the need, the drive to create to keep yourself busy no matter the various reasons. I remain one of those people that firmly believe that one must have a out-lit - a item, a passion when life throws at you rotten lemons at super high velocity or you will internalize and your mind will curl up on its self and crawl down the spine and out through your butt!

I have seen some diverse ways of coping with lives tragedies and for the most part, they work for that person … majority of the time - ideally. Though I did not work with any form of yarn during the hardest part of my teenage years, writing was my saviour, my way of finding a type of peace and condolence when I felt my heart & world was perpetually being shaken. Getting “it out” even when you haven’t a f-ing clue what the “it” is remains firmly a therapeutic coping method even when you’re anguishing over purchasing yet another ball of yarn at your LYS and pulling your hair out to get the gifts done for the Holidays. In the two years I have kept this blog going I have experienced the “fun” emotions of life, jealous and wicked envious to the degree that would make your toes curl! Despite it all, despite my joking and lame cracks and usually the thrill of being the odd ball, the black sheep that I am, creating is my gift AND my curse. My chronic obsession. I am relieved to declare that I no longer have the strong need to fill a white space or jump right into a fiber project because it is there screaming at my crafty abilities. My stark white shinny walls of my closet doors have remained white and undisturbed by any color!

I guess what I’m trying to say (in my usual fashion), is that no matter how hard those lemons riddled you with there is a circle of people out there in this screwy world that tends to point out the black sheep's, the odd balls. It’s simply a matter of taking the time and lots of ginning ‘n baring it and playing the “normal” card when you absolutely have to and building on those contacts of those that you have a connection with. Majority of the time, I relish in being … off, the odd ball, the one that goes to the person sitting in the corner of the room. No reason the odd balls of us in society can’t have some fiber-ly great items on us and within our fingers, I say!

Those of you that have come back to read my stuff over and over, and my computer gnomes have showed me that you DO exist out there and it’s just not in my head … I thank you from the bottom of my mangled heavy heart! Do what YOU do for you LOVE it and want to and put aside when you’re not feeling the love or you may find yourself in a up hill battle dragging all those people on Ravelry’s yarn stashes!

So let’s see what sort of things happen in the coming year to add my spice of madness to shall we, for I have still quite a lot on my handmade plate to do accomplish and I’m determined to get some of you to pee your pants laughing! ;)

An A M A Z I N G college friend is getting remarried and has proclaimmed her love for Rebecca Danger's Monster Chunk and am hoping to fill a bag of them for a wedding gift. I was hoping that there are some great kind people willing to help me with this and use up their small end balls in order to make a already specail day stand out more.

To shave off a few extra moments and picking up stitches, I suggest working it backwards where first you treat the k2tog as knits tb&f up to the knitting of 16 rows and then working pattern as attended in one fluid piece. Stuffing and adding eyes as you go for ease.

For every four Chunky you send you get your name placed in a draw to win some prizes, of which will be sock yarn. If & when you are ready to send your Chunkies please email me or Ravelry message me and I will thus give you my snail mail address.

What Is Christmas?

Christmas. Another awkward family time obligated gathering after tedious gift shopping and wrangling with paper or, in my case, finding a gift bag to fit in the garbage bag of past gifts.

We’re all grown up in my circle of family with no kids to speak up - sadly. My father and his long time “lady friend” Jean still purchase more then one gift for the three of us supposed kids, myself, my husband and the Princess my sister. Each year my dad says something along the lines of how the economy is down and so forth so don’t go spending a lot and still he, or clearly rather more Jean going out and picking up more then one or two gifts for us. We sit around Jean’s place watching some made for TV Halmark Christmas special, Jim falls asleep on the sofa and snores or runs over to the reservation for a smoke run. Dad and Jean talk about her co-workers or clients she provides home-care for, or their “friends” around the area.

I wonder if we don’t talk because we don’t know the safe topics with each of us or that we don’t in order to avoid hitting them sensitive topics? How will we ever survive in the coming years if one of us doesn’t bite the bullet and try to get to know the others safe topics? This pains me to the point it makes me tear eye especially in remembrance of how our childhood was, playing with toys and watching TV Christmas specials or Christmas records playing in the background well the family gabbed and drank egg-nog and us cousins tried to get Sheena, the youngest to pee her pants at the dinner table laughing. I bring my domino set and it feels like it be like troubling them to learn to play. No other traditions are done but that... siting around, my sister texting on her phone or flipping through a magazine. While I hold my breath hoping that they don’t ask the questions or make the comments they did the weekend before my birthday this year.

Why does it bug me so that we MUST do some sort of traditional thing when clearly this is what we’ve done since I was little? Is it the old urk that my extended family are supposedly too dang busy to call or bother to make a point to reach out to any of their family? I swear my mom is up heaven shaking her head in shame and disappointment at her family at Christmas after all those early years when the family was so close.

Then that brings up the wrong thoughts that still linger in my scrambled brain, that I was the one that burst my families little bubble that everything was peachy perfect and Grandpa Brooks wasn’t a bastard and didn’t touch his daughters or oldest granddaughter. How messed up would I be, would things be if I hadn’t said anything back in the day after an episode of Mr. Dressup?

Do I really want to be like those commercials and people, families that have Christmas parties even if the season wasn’t entirely a strategic finical operation? Is that what some part of me is anticipating for, why I get excited about the holidays? Even though I am still not a soc ail butterfly at any sort of party nor am at all fond at traveling around Holidays. Is it my brain remembering how we would always get all dressed up just to go to our relatives? A time to break out the bling? How do you celebrate Christmas when you’re not religious and poor and believe in Christmas magic so much that you’ve convinced yourself that you can smell in the night air? Yeah, I do believe in Christmas Magic … what ever the heck that means for I surely don’t know though I usually end up getting all flustered and emotional trying to bring a little of that magic to friends (Renna) and family. So what is Christmas, how do you celebrate it? Is it purely about putting up the decorations a month in advance and lighting candles through your place and chasing your pets away from drinking the Christmas tree water? How can I make the chore of going out to the boonies to Jean’s place to have such a quiet boring Christmas - short of spiking my families drinks with drugs and hard liquor?

Do I make a fuse out of pulling out the decorations when it’s just the two of us here? Torture the hubby and play the music all December long and laugh in the pain as I rush to knit for Jim’s side of the family that are the only part of the family that DO warrant and enjoy my time and effort of making knit wear? Is the battle and hassle the entire point of the Holidays now in this time and age, is this part of the tradition that is escaping my thought process lately?

MeMe The Monster Pattern

MATERAILS:
* Stash busting some yarn.
* Needles. As long as the gauge is small enough to NOT see stuffing.
* Stuffing of your choice
* A inch or inch and a half of wire or straw to use to make eyes stand up.
* Child safe eyes or black buttons in what ever size you have or want for this monster.
* Close matching thread for sewing the bottom of the monster and attaching the ears.

DESIGNER NOTE
You may want to sew on the eyes, mouth as well as ears as you can more easily knot and hide thread on the inside, depending on your preference as well as when you loosely stuff monster.

PATTERN

CO 16 leaving 2-4” of a tail to weave around the edge of the top of the head closing the hole and securing it. Join in the round and mark beginning.

BODY
Rnd 1: knit
Rnd 2: K2, M1 till end of round
Rnd 3 & 4: Knit
Rnd 5: K2, M1 till end of round
Rnd 6 - 8: Knit
Rnd 9: K2, M1 till end of round
Rnd 10-12: Knit
Rnd 13: K2, M1 till end of round
Rnd 14 - 25: Knit
Rnd 26: K3, K2tog till end of round

Happy Thanksgiving Day Canadians & Americans

This week I've been busy making product for Tanya's Design that I am determined to get it up and running by around the first of November (my 35th bday and just missing my favourite holiday) to which the DH says is something we can achieve with our sufficating funds. That and our pretty much Car Fund is so null and void there are spiders and dust in the spot, to which I am both alarmed about as well as challenged if by some cruel force Sheila where to give out. A long with the etsy shop I have been spend time banging my head against the wall trying to figure out Cafe Press Shops that are extremely practical for doing art work as well as putting pictures, words, etc on clothing. I'm really sort of urked about the prices of the items they have that are pretty rediculous and down right wrong to make much of ... or any profit for that matter. So really, in the end with Cafe Press (and really Etsy if I'm being honestly here) there very likely will not be much of a profit that will make it significant just to break even or be able to purchase a twenty - thirty dollar item every other month. I managed to some how get two t-shirts to show up on the Shop but I'm not sure they will stay since ... well they're not right in my eyes. It doesn't look like I'm going to be easily installing Photoshop 5.5 on this netbook without a cd drive or arguing with a flash drive of sorts so I will have to make Sumo Paint work by either using a mouse or being paitent enough to get good with the netbooks little mouse area. Time will tell.

Pin Cushions

These little handy cushions are made to fit around most sewing machins either around the compartment that slides out for sleaves or on the side of the machine below any dials on the right. Currently I have seven of these made and do have plans to make more and are probably going to be listed for $6-$9 bucks.

MeMe Monster

So far almost two monsters completed with the eyes and a mouth put on and a big newsprint paper bag practically full of ball ends and small balls donated by the wonderful, awesome and strong women and my greatest friend, Renna.

Ren's Bday Gift Tote will be done before the first as well as Susan's kindle cover that she requested should theoretically be relatively easy to make it is merely the size that I want to get right. Lots to do before the first and I am so very excited about having my dream of having a shop open soon.

iPhone Cozy with a 4.o Crochet Hook Followed the pattern to a certain point then got frustrated and sick of Googling searching for abbreviations and translating the pattern to a way I can understand it and follow it. Pattern is by Crochet Kitten and is really quite goregous if done right so perhaps when I have more experience with crochet patterns I will give this another try.

Thank you for the experience and helping me to learn that I CAN finish "smallish" projects in a wicked timely manner that has given me the inspiration & motivation to accomplish tasks and projects that I have have post-phoned, stalled on or simply avoided for my belief that I was incredibly slow at accompish knits.

Peak-a-Poop

Note: This post will have absolutely NOTHING to do with crafting or yarn.

A mutual friend reminded me of using rubber maid bins instead of the more expensive cat box covers that in my case would have to have a low rim for my older cat, Oscar.

This is one of the ways it usually looks, minus the other 3 rubber maids stacked by size infront of the pink rubber maid. I love pink so much I gave it to the shit! *lol* Ha ha I funny ;P

The pink is not so percisely cut into middle rather then at the shorter side, to avoid wrangling with the hard plastic, and low & just wide enough to allow the kitties to come 'n go without them kicking out the stones. The trickest part (I'm finding) is making air holes at the sides however for now, I simply take the lid off and set it up between the pink and the green so that the cats don't walk along the green one or play boxing with the other's head.

And there you have it a litter box that I can live with and share my studio space and is not the eye sore of the "point five" bedroom and it cost me tweleve bucks for two.

Results May Vary

After an afternoon of running around in preparation for a few day tenting camping trip starting Sunday afternoon to Wednesday I eventually got to my mini-redye attempt. I had pulled out some small cotton balls and some end pieces to hopefully color a long with frogging the very old UFO to be felted bag. Mildly frustrating the dying of the cotton didn't really take and after six small bottles of food coloring the potency was much different then what I had the previous Friday, at Renna's leading me to believe that it's something in her that willed color into the yarn. So far (knock on wood) the remaining color has taken to the remnants of wool I had from the first time I colored with Stick'n Needles and this piece that I didn't like. This is soaking into a red at one end and a blue at the opposite and so far it's going well, though the color hasn't been absorbed entirely into the yarn yet (wondering if I should stick back in microwave and let boil).

I'm eaggered to work up the following skein of yarn for the majority looks multi-shaded of greens in tones that are similiar making me rethink - slightly - just what complicated knit I should bring camping. Unfortunately I'm still not that into knitting unless it's a penis or a pair of boobs to amuse one of the couples we're going camping with. I have stick weaved a inch or so of that scarf but pretty much nothing else this week.

I'm sort of just urked that I am unable to wash 2 of the heavier blankets we're taking but really what is the worth when they'll be covered in bug spray probably by the time we get back. I don't have a lot of tees or shorts to bring and knowing us we'd likely not wear them or find them even though they're bound to be right in front of our faces. I like comfort so what can I say. Thinking of bringing Moldy Hairy Barry with me too since I can tye it back for the evenings since weather reports don't say it's going to get that cold.

One thing is for sure ... my hands are going to some what blend into the greenery of the camp site being a faint green that likely wont be off by time we leave. *LOL*
