His mother arranges a match for him with a rich village belle Lavanya (Mamata Mohandas) who okays the alliance as Ravi is software engineer. Meanwhile, Lavanya asks her New York buddy Sunita (Anushka) to find out the conduct of Chintakayala Ravi. Sunita and Ravi accidentally meet once and she gets bad impression on him for his mischievous acts. She also finds that he is actually bartender and informs her friend that causes rift between Ravi and Lavanya’s families. The rest of the movie is triangle drama between Ravi, Lavanya and Sunita.

Analysis

Like all recent Venkatesh’s films, Chintakayala Ravi has high on entertainment but low on content. Story of the flick is kitchidi of various Hindi movies (mostly Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon and Hum Tum) but the backdrop of USA, Venkatesh’s performance, and comedy makes the film watchable. Adding mother sentiment to the predictable storyline made the movie more interesting, otherwise, it could have been very dull. Kona Venkat’s dialogues also are major asset. Other than that the movie treads on predictable pattern. First half of the movie is smooth and interesting but post the interval the narration is too slow and lengthy too. On the whole, the movie is just an okay.

Performances

Venkatesh gives good performance and shows his panache in comedy and sentiment scenes. After Venky, it is senior actress Lakshmi whose work is better. Her restrained performance adds strength to the sentiment scenes. Anushka’s performance is okay. Finally, Mamata Mohandass has got good role in Tollywood and also she comes with convincing act. Of the comedy gang, Sunil shines while Ali’s act as Nachami (an extension of his role in Chiruta), other toilet humor and some suggestive double meaning dialogues by Venky are in bad taste. Venu is apt for his brief role. So is Nikita. NTR’s guest appearance in the song 'Shava Shava' has no link and logic to the main storyline. Prakash Raj’s narrates the film with his voice over but it also can be done away with.

Of the technical cast, Kona Venkat (dialogues are good), Vishal- Sekhar (two songs – Bagunde..Bagunde and Enduko..Enduko are lilting) and cinematographer Ravindra Babu have come up with better work. Manisharma has just ‘copied’ the tunes from some of Yash Raj movies to provide background score. Chandrabose has penned all the songs and the lyrics in Enduko..Enduko are fantastic. He is giving best lyrics thesedays.

The scene where Venkatesh and Anushka act as husband and wife is just copy of Hum Tum (Rani and Saif do the same act in an apartment in Mumbai), like Saif arranges boys for Rani in Hum Tum, Venky does the same here. And in the climax, when Venky and Anushka perform as lovers in a game is Xerox copy of Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon. Indeed, the basic plot of Chintakayala Ravi is similar to Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon minus Abhishek’s role.

One appreciable aspect of the movie is the scenes shot in USA are rich and gives the movie very bright look. Producer Nallamapulu Bujji should be appreciated for this. Director Yogesh handles the movie okay but he has used all the old tricks for narration, not shown any novelty here.

Bottom-line

Chintakayala Ravi is just an okay. Mix of several Bollywood movies, the movie can be watchable for its comedy (in parts), good music and Venky’s performance.

<a href="http://www.zimbio.com/pilot?ZURL=%2FTELUGU%2BMOVIES%2Farticles%2F5105%2FChintakayala%2BRavi%2Bmovie%2BDownload%2BFree%2Bwatch&URL=http%3A%2F%2F4.bp.blogspot.com%2F_eTgXGOCLW_A%2FSOjLVE-18jI%2FAAAAAAAAA5U%2FQqQBSuY7Jag%2Fs1600-h%2FChinthakayala-Ravi_m.jpg" rel="nofollow" style="text-decoration: none; He is a straight-forth man with honesty. He has an understanding wife (Meena) and three kids. Ashok Kumar (Rajnikanth) – the superstar of film industry – is his childhood friend. But Balu loses touch with Ashok after he becomes an actor. The unit of Ashok's latest film comes to the village of Balu for a cinema shoot. Balu's family members and village men ask Balu to take them to Ashok. But Balu is such a kind of guy who does not want to ask favors. The rest of the story is all about how the honest Balu and raging superstar meet.

Artists Performance :

kathanayakudu Rajnikant: Rajnikant mesmerizes you again with his 60-minute screen presence in this film. He is super stylish in the various costumes (Mask of the Zorro, Lawrence of Arabia etc) donned in two songs of the film. He also has a very sensible part in the film where he tries to explain the mindset of an actor and superstar. SP Balu who usually dubs for Kamal Hassan dubbed for Rajnikant in this film.

kathanayakuduJagapati Babu: Jagapati Babu came up with one of the finest performances of his career. This role demands a tremendous histrionics from the actor in Jagapati Babu and he does a wonderful job. His get-up is also good. But one wonders why he has light beard though he is doing the role of barber.

Others:
Meena is apt as the wife of Jagapati Babu. Nayana Tara sizzles as film heroine paired with Rajnikant. Dharmavarapu entertains. Sunil's escapades in second half are good, especially his expressions while ogling at Nayana Tara. Ali is alright. Brahmanandam is wasted. The comedy of MS Narayana and Kondavalasa does not appeal.

Ready

Ready Reviews

The tagline of the film is 'Deenikaina'. He has a good script and great lineup of actors(Ram, Brahmanandam, Sunil, Dharmavarapu, MS Narayana, Jayaprakash Reddy, Kota..and the list goes on) and the result is ..as you expected. Though there isn't much story the screenplay(Gopi Mohan,Kona Venkat) is very good,So are the dialogues(Kona Venkat). Ram performed with ease,Genelia looks pretty.Brahmanandam steals the show as McDowell Murthy. Vinayak have created Krishna, a good comic and action-filled entertainer. Producer Danayya comes up with another hit after Desamuduru.

Krishna (Ravi Teja) is an M.Sc. Computer Science gold medallist. He is so good-natured that he gives up his job in favour of another poor young man who needs a job desperately. Krishna, residing in Vijayawada with his brother and his family, roams aimlessly with his friends, when he comes across Sandhya (Trisha) at the Kanakadurga temple and instantly falls in love with her.

He follows her but she does not accept his love. Kirhsna then follows her to Hyderabad. Sandhya is the daughter of a builder (Sayaji Shinde). The father refuses to accept Krishna's love for his daughter. The reason for this is that a dreaded gangster Jakka (Mukul Dev) is also after his daughter. Jakka wanted to kill her, but falls for her beauty and is determined to marry her.

The father tries his best to keep his daughter out of the reach of Jakka and his goons. Krishna hatches a plan to take on Jakka and finish him off so that he can marry Sandhya.

Performance-wise, Ravi Teja comes on top once again, showing great ease in action as well as comedy scenes. His comedy timing is very good. Brahmanandam and Ravi Teja literally carry the film on their shoulders. Trisha lends her glamour to the film and is also good in the dance number. Jayaprakash Reddy plays the role of the villain's uncle to perfection. He also does some comedy. Sayaji Shinde's role is very brief. Sunil, M.S. Narayana and Venu Madhav add their bit to the comedy in the film.

The film is a thoroughly enjoyable fare on the whole.

Ontari

Vamsi Krishna (Gopichand) is the youngest of the three brothers. Rajiv Kanakala, an MLA, is a childhood friend of Gopichand.

Gopichand falls in love at first sight with Kanaka Mahalakshmi (Bhavana), an orphan studying B.Sc. at a women's college. He keeps meeting her, posing as a CBI officer, creating comic situations. Bhavana also come into contact with his family members but does not know that he is part of their family.

The younger brother of the villain tries to tease Bhavana and Gopichand thrashes him up. Ashish Vidyarthi, the villain, is very angry and hatches a plan to take revenge. The engagement of Gopichand and Bhavana is about to take place at Annavaram when Ashish Vidyarthi kidnaps Bhavana. Gopichand tries to rescue her but is backstabbed by his dear friend Rajiv Kanakala. Bhavana dies after the villain's brother rapes her.

But Gopichand is not a normal person now. He is suffering from visual hallucinations and thinks that Bhavana is very much with him. He sets out to take revenge on the villains for raping her. Gopichand succeeds in his mission, only to realize that Bhavana is no more. Gopichand now becomes 'Ontari'.

Gopichand does a great job both in the actions scenes as well as romantic scenes. He shows his fighting skils once again. Bhavana give him able company with her cute looks and neat performance. The rest of the star cast, including Ashish Vidyarthi, Sayaji Shinde, Raghu Babu and others, are okay. Music is also okay. Comedy by Sunil and Ali is average.

The film runs smoothly in the first half but slackens a bit in the second. The suspense is often a bit confusing. It appears the director lost his grip on the subject at times.

However, it is good to see Gopichand turn into a bankable star. The film will be a feast for mass audiences.

Ontari is an above-average entertainer.

John Appa Rao 40 plus

John Appa Rao 40 plus

Cast:

Krishna Bhagawan, Simran, Sayaji Shinde, Benarjee, Jeeva, Melkote, Ali, Raghubabu, Kondavalasa Lakshmana Rao, Maruthi, Gauthamraju, Prabhakar, Ruthika, Apoorva, Pavala Shyamala and others.

Banner:

Black and Eight Act

Written, directed and produced by:

Kuchipudi Venkat

Cinematography:

V. The film, touted as a comic entertainer, has much violence and ends up as a film on terrorism.

Appa Rao (Krishna Bhagawan), a fashion designer, stays in Visakhapatnam and runs his garment stores with the help of some friends. He delays his marriage due to family problems. He is now 40 plus when he finally decides to marry but now finds it very difficult to find a suitable bride.

At this time enters Pravalika (Simran), who gets a costume designed by Appa Rao and is most pleased by the same. She offers to take him to the UK to set up a designer store. Appa Rao is by now living with her and thinks her invitation as a sort of a green signal, meaning she is interested in marrying him.

But we learn that Pravalika is actually doing all this for a dreaded ISI agent named John alias Mushtaq. John is the prime accused in a bomb blast case at the Rythu Bazar in Mehdipatnam in which hundreds of innocent people were killed.

She plans to take Appa Rao to Hyderabad and get him killed, then use his passport and visa to smuggle the dreaded terrorist out of India. Why is she doing all this? Does she succeed in her mission? This is the suspense element and should be watched on the big screen.

Krishan Bhagawan plays a dual role in the film. He plays a bachelor of 40 plus and gives a mature and realistic performance in this role. His role as a dreaded ISI agent Mushtaq however, is not very convincing. The dubbing for this role is also poor.

Simran look good in some scenes but she may not be accepted by fickle audiences as a heroine, who may have already cast her in the image of a character actor. The rest of the star cast are average. Even though the film boasts of several comedians like Ali, Venu Madhav, Raghu Babu, etc. the comedy is just rib-tickling.

The director has made the film in such a manner that the audience is not sure if it isg a comedy film or a film on terrorism.

Gamyam

Gamyam

Cast:

Allari Naresh, Sharwanand, Kamalini Mukherjee, Ramesh Rao, Brahmanandam, M.S. The film breaks the long list of mediocre and flop films that have been hitting the screen since January 2008 with the exception of Ravi Teja's Krishna.

The film is about the life of Abhiram (Saravanand), the rich and spoilt son of a multi-millionaire. He leads a lavish and carefree life with no love or sympathy for the poor and the underprivileged in society.

He comes across a beautiful doctor Janaki (Kamalini Mukherjee), an orphan who loves the poor and serves them. She is interested in social service. Abhiram manages to become her friend. But when it is about to turn into love, Janaki learns about Abhiram's hatred for the poor.

She leaves him and goes away. Abhi now goes in search of her. He meets Gaali Seenu (Allari Naresh), a petty thief who steals bikes but is good-natured at heart.

The two set out in search of Janaki. During their long journey, Abhiram sees true life and the sufferings of people. Seenu dies unfortunately when he is caught in the crossfire of an encounter between naxalites and police. Abhiram, now a changed man, finally meets Janaki; she now accepts his love and the film ends on a happy note.

The performance of Allari Naresh is the highlight of the film. He also does a lot of comedy and brings laughter in the theatre.

Saravanand has improved, but there is still much scope for him to improve. Kamalini's role is brief but she does a neat job, making a good impact as a kind and compassionate girl.

Music is average. The dialogues and photography are impressive. Debutant director Radhakrishna does a commendable job with this thin storyline. The film is a refreshing change from the run-of-the-mill love stories, so worth watching.

Bommana Brothers - Chandana Sisters

                                                                                                            Bommana Brothers - Chandana Sisters

Banner

Siri Cinemas

Cast

Allari Naresh, Krishna Bhagawan, Farzana, Rithima, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Jayaprakash Reddy, Tanikella Bharani, L.B. Their antics include cheating a bank manager, then getting caught; but thanks to their father, they escape the clutches of the police.

Once, on one of their thieving sprees, their attention is caught by a photo of Mani (Farzana) and Siri (Rithima), pretty daughters of a businessman. The Bommana siblings snoop around and find that Chandana Mohana Rao (Kota Srinivasa Rao), their father, is the owner of a prosperous cloth business.

Mani is devout and Siri is soft-hearted, rendering help to the physically-challenged and the outcasts of society. Armed with this information, Bommana Brothers set out to get their quarry - the innocent sisters, Mani and Siri, and find a place in their hearts. After much pretense, the Bommana Brothers win the hands of the Chandana Sisters in marriage.

Once they are married, the thievery doesn’t stop; they cheat their father-in-law and take away his wealth. Of course, when the sweet sisters come to know of their husbands’ cheating nature, they turn their minds to teaching them a lesson.

Do the Bommana Brothers reform? Can the Chandana Sisters forgive their husbands and take them back? Watch the movie to find out.

Naresh and Krishna Bhagawan prove their experience by excelling in their roles. Farzana and Rithima provide eye candy, very sweet and glamorous. Dharmavarapu, Jayaprakash Reddy and Jeeva lend superb support to the main characters. Kota Srinivasa Rao dons his father’s role with his usual aplomb. Tanikella Bharani and Kovai Sarala as the Bommana parents give extra flavour to the story. The song and dance sequences by Naresh and Farzana are done very well.

Adusumilli Vijaykumar has captured the beauty of the foreign locales and the romantic sequences. Veligonda Srinivas’ dialogues sparkle now and then, with a few ‘punch’ dialogues. The director has tried to stretch the comic scenes with the result that the spirit goes out and some scenes bore you rather than entertain you. By making the script pithier, the movie could have delivered a lot more laughs.

The songs give you a déjà vu feeling, and some old songs like ‘Sri Ramadasu’ and others have been used as props for the story continuity.

Overall, a good time-pass entertainer.

Michael Madana Kamaraju

Michael Madana Kamaraju

Banner

Silver Screen Movies

Cast:

Srikanth, Prabhudeva, Sunil, Charmee, Asha Saini, Naga Babu, Kavitha, Venu Madhav, Brahmanandam, Abhinayasri, Kota Ali, Kondavalasa, Kovai Sarala

Cinematography

P. Michael Madana Kamaraju is the title of an old Kamal Haasan comedy classic. But this movie has only the title in common with the Kamal cult classic of 1991.

Prabhudeva, Srikanth and Sunil play the 3 characters, Michael, Madana and Kamaraju, supported by Charmee and Mayuri. The film is billed as a different, but unexpected love story.

The hero Madan (Srikanth) and Kamaraju (Sunil) are cousins, who attend a fashion show in Goa where models from across the country participate. Archana, a fashion designer, showcases her clothes on some Vizag models. Madan meets Charmee and hires her for his company.

Meanwhile, Kamaraju is bowled over by Mandira (Mayuri aka Asha Saini) and follows her to Hyderabad. Madan reveals his views on love, mainly that it is a waste of time, an infatuation created by the body for the mind, to Archana. Predictably, after a while, Madan loses his heart to Archana, but cannot tell her as his ego gets in the way. Kamaraju, to trick Madan into confessing his feelings, prints a fake wedding card of Archana’s wedding to a man called Michael – with Prabhudeva’s photo enclosed.

Madan gets really depressed; at this juncture, he meets Michael (Prabhudeva) accidentally. When Michael, who has lived by his wits all his life, realizes the situation, he sets about trying to win Archana’s heart, more so because her father, Nagababu, is worth 100 crores.
Michael makes all efforts to win Archana’s hand in marriage; how Kamaraju and Madan foil his plans, reuniting with their girlfriends, makes up the rest of the movie.

Srikanth has given a good performance as usual. Sunil is fantastic with good comic timing and is comfortable in the song sequences also. Charmee has shown that she is a good dancer as well as being able to emote very well.

The first song is visually pleasing and has been picturised on Sunil; Prabhudeva has proved that he is one the best choreographers South of the Vindhyas when he has choreographed a Telugu classical dance with westernized steps. The rest of the songs are average.

Kota Srinivasa Rao, Brahmanandam, Venumadhav and Ali have given effortless performances though the dragging tempo has played havoc with a good storyline. Many characters just walk on and off the screen leaving the audiences wondering what the character has to do with the overall story.

Chakri’s music hardly inspires and the background score is just average.
Cinematography is above par and Silver Screen Movies have delivered production values as required.

The movie is held together by the comedy – a good entertainer.

Bhale Dongalu

Bhale Dongalu

Cast:

Tarun, Ileana, Jagapathi Babu, Charmi, Pradeep Rawat, Mallikarjuna Rao, Brahmanandam, M.S. Ramu solves his problem by running away from home.

Meanwhile, Ileana, a business magnate's daughter, also runs away from home, as she dreams of becoming a model but her grandmother wants her to get married.

Tarun and Ileana meet on a train going to Visakhapatnam. They are cheated and lose their luggage and money. Therefore, they resolve to cheat others to survive, later graduating to bigger items like expensive jewellery.

While going to Hyderabad in search of richer victims, they run into a cute child suffering from kidney failure and decide to pay for her treatment.

Their modus operandi in Hyderabad is leave their signature 'Romeo and Juliet' in all their crime scenes. They steal from Veerraju (Pradeep Rawat), a local goonda without being aware of his identity. Now he's hunting them down. Even DCP Yugandhar (Jagapati Babu) is chasing Romeo and Juliet.

Now the hero and heroine want to retire from their hazardous life of cheating and start an honest business. They also provide rupees nine lakhs for the treatment of the poor girl with kidney failure, whom they had met on the bus to Hyderabad.

The suspense of the film lies in anticipating what happens next. Will the two con artists, the partners in crime, go scot-free or will they get caught and punished?

The film has been scripted well and is a laugh-fest, though much of the movie defies logic. That's the hallmark of a good entertainer! Tarun has good comic timing, having honed his skills over the years. Ileana, has carried her role very well without exposing, appearing in a variety of costumes. Jagapathi Babu as the DCP has carried his role with his usual style.

K.M. Radhakrishnan's music has a couple of foot-tapping songs with good choreography. The action scenes are done with style.

Charmi, Pradeep Rawat, Mallikarjuna Rao, Brahmanandam, M.S. Narayana, Sunil, Venumadhav, Narsing Yadav, Sudha, Sana, Hema, Annapurna are the others in the cast.

This movie is a big career boost for Tarun.

JALSA

JALSA

Cast

Trivikram Srinivas (of Athadu fame) entered Tollywood as a story writer. He excelled in dialogue writing and when he became popular as a writer, he turned director and got the chance to direct Mahesh Babu.

Producer Allu Aravind chose Trivikram to script and direct Jalsa with Pawan Kalyan in the lead, to be produced under Gita Arts banner. Jalsa was surrounded with hype right from the muhurat to create high expectations with audiences and Pawan Kalyan's fans. Now, coming to the storyline:

Son of a poor farmer (Pruthvi), Sanjay (Pawan Kalyan) lives in a village, which has no facilities, not even potable water. His brother dies of heart disease and Sanjay's parents commit suicide after their crop fails.

To take revenge against society, young Sanjay joins the Naxals as a courier. When most of Sanjay’s cadre is killed in an encounter, he helps a minister to escape from a landmine blast. Sanjay is apprehended by a police officer (Prakashraj). He surrenders and decides to reform.

He joins college and falls in love with the SP's daughter Indu (Kamalini Mukherjee). But the SP isn’t convinced about Sanjay and gets Indu married to an NRI.

Then Sanjay meets Jyotsna aka Joe (Parvati Melton) and her sister Bhagmati aka Bhagi (Ileana). Both lose their hearts to Sanjay but Sanjay snubs Joe. So Bhagi tries her luck and succeeds in winning his heart. History repeats itself when Bhagi's father refuses to approve of Sanjay as a son-in-law.

Sanjay beats up the son of a factionist and land mafia leader Damodar Reddy (Mukesh Rushi), thus becoming his enemy. Sitting in jail, Damodar Reddy oversees his criminal empire with the help of his right hand Sreenu (Tanikella Bharani).

Now comes a twist in the tale. How Sanjay vanquishes his enemy and and wins the girl forms the climax. So watch and enjoy!

Pawan Kalyan has made the film lively from beginning to end with his good performance and good comic timing. His make up, costumes and acting are similar to his earlier films Tholiprema, Khushi and Bhadri.

For a change, Ileana appears in a deglamourized girl-next-door role, in which Trivikram has given her scope to perform with chirpiness.

Parvathi Melton is overpowering next to Pawan Kalyan, providing the oomph factor. Kamalini has a wink-and-you-miss-her role. Mukesh Rushi has performed with style. Prakashraj is so-so as Kamalini’s father. Brahmanandam’s comedy is average.

Technically, music is the major highlight. It is the first time Devi Sri Prasad and Pawan Kalyan have come together with good results. The audio was a chartbuster since its release. Mahesh Babu’s voice-over is another highlight.

Though the storyline written by him is good, director Trivikram Srinivas could have exploited the screenplay better. He maintains the humour as well as the love story neatly through the firs half but the long dialogue that continues into the second half slows the tempo; some scenes could have been shorter.

songs choreography is average. Action scenes are stylish but reminiscent of Pawan’s earlier roles.

The film has had an average opening. The director has been able to satisfy Pawan’s fans to a certain extent with music, dialogues and climax.

PARUGU

Parugu is Bhaskar's second film and the 'second film' sentiment seems to have got him too, meaning this is not as good as his debut film.

The story is about a rich landlord Neelakanta (Prakashraj) and his two daughters Subbalakshmi (Poonam Bajwa) and Meena (Sheela). Subbalakshmi elopes with her lover, Babu, just a few minutes before her marriage. Neelakanta is furious and asks his helpers to round up all of Babu's friends. Sunil, Chitram Seenu, Srinivas Reddy and Krishna (Allu Arjun) are then locked up in an out house.

Neelakanta learns that Krishna is the one who has helped his daughter to run away and seek shelter. Neelakanta takes his gang in search of his daughter. Krishna loses his heart to Neelakanata's younger daughter - Meena. Meena finally succumbs to Krishna's charms. After Neelakanta catches Subblakshmi and her husband, he is shocked to learn that his daughter doesn't want to return and in fact, warns him not harm her husband.

Neelakanta returns home and plans to perform the marriage of his second daughter Meena. Again, he learns just a few hours before the marriage that she too is planning to elope with her lover, Krishna. Does Krishna take advantage of the situation and elope with Meena? Can he empathise with Neelakanta? Watch the move to find the answers.

Allu Arjun has worked on his acting prowess in enacting serious roles and his dancing skills are good. Prakashraj brings out the feelings of a father let down by his daughters with élan. Poonam Bajwa has almost no screen space and Sheela beautifies the movie effectively. Comedy by Sunil and gang is just average; the music is good and so are the production values and editing. The slow pace of narration and the predictable ending are the weak points. Paragu is entertaining, but falls short in comparison to Bommarillu.

Bujjigadu Made In Chennai

Bujjigadu Made In Chennai

Cast

Prabhas, Trisha, Sanjana, Dr. Mohan Babu, Sunil, Ali, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Jayaprakash Reddy, Raja Ravindra, M.S. The film should finally end Prabhas' dry run at the . Puri Jagannath, with consecutive hits Desamuduru and Chirutha under his belt, has directed Prabhas in the lead role. Prabhas' great performance should now set him firmly on the path to bigger hits. Bujjigadu Made In Chennai, means exactly that. It has been shot mainly in the now defunct Binny Mills, parts of Ennore and other parts of Chennai. This is the third film in which Prabhas and Trisha appear together after Varsham and Pournami.

The story is pretty simple. Bujji and Chitti are school-going children living in Visakhapatnam. Chitti gets angry with Bujji over some trivial issue and tells him that she will not speak with him for 12 years. If Bujji can stick to it, then she will marry him.

Bujji leaves home and settles in Chennai, becoming a goonda and big Rajnikanth fan. The producer has capitalized on the fan following that Superstar Rajinikanth has among both Telugu as well as Tamil audiences. With this in mind, the hero's accent has traces of Tamil coupled with East Godavari region slang. After the stipulated 12 years, Bujji (Prabhas) comes back to Visakhapatnam in search of his love. But he learns that Chitti (Trisha) is now in Hyderabad. Bujji also comes in contact with the gang of Kota and his sons. He is offered one crore rupees to kill Shivanna (Dr. Mohan Babu), a rival of Kota.

Bujji agrees to do the job and comes to Hyderabad. He is now in search of Chitti as well as Shivanna. He tries to kill Shivanna, but is grievously injured while fighting with him and his goons. But Shivanna takes a liking for Bujji, takes him home and gets him treated.

Predictably, Shivanna turns out to be Chitti's brother. He learns that Bujji is actually the person that his sister Chitti has been waiting for since 12 years. But Shivanna pleads with Bujji not to reveal his identity to Chitti. Why? Does Bujji agree to this condition? What happens next? That forms the crux of the story.

Popular detective novelist, Madhubala has provided the script. The film is an out-and-out Prabhas show. He gives a good account of himself in all the departments - acting, comedy, dance, fights and style. Trisha looks cute and glamorous. Mohan Babu could have done better but was restricted by the script.

Sanjana is okay. The rest go about their roles in a routine manner. Puri Jagannath's son Master Aakash and daughter Baby Pavitra make cameo appearances. The music is average while the camera work is outstanding. One song devoted to Prabhas' fixation with the Superstar has many references in Tamil. This song captures the mood of the carefree hero, who has come to watch Rajinikanth's moviefirst-day-first-show. Two new voices, Mark Lazaro and Anaida, have sung the 'Thalaiva' number that is a mixture of Telugu and Tamil lingo. The peppy lines were written by Bhaskarabhatla RAVI Kumar. Fight master Vijayan has composed very outstanding fight sequences with Prabhas and other junior artists.

The film is average but should please Prabhas' fans immensely. Puri finally gives what Prabhas has been desperately looking for - a vehicle to showcase his acting skills.

KANTRI

KANTRI

Cast

NTR Jr., Hansika Motwani, Tanisha, Prakashraj, Asish Vidyarthi, Mukesh Rishi, Sayaji Shinde, Murali Sharma, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Brahmaji, Raghubabu, Subbaraju, Satyam Rajesh, Dharmavarapu Subrah

Presents

C. But the director has come out with an average entertainer, with story and screenplay that are not outstanding.

The film is about injustice done to the family of a rich, kind landlord (Mukesh Rishi). His son returns from the US to do some good for his village. He plans to set up a sugar factory and generate employment for the villagers. But, assisted by Ashish Vidyarthi, a back-stabbing family helper Potha Raju (Prakashraj) kills all the family members and escapes, taking with him the 100 crores (kept aside to set up the factory), but leaving behind his wife and young son.

Potha Raju (PR) soon creates a huge underworld empire. He makes about 1,000 crores by printing counterfeit currency and other illegal activities.

Kranthi (NTR) is an orphan. He stays in Premalayam with other orphans. Kranthi joins PR’s gang after helping them in some fight with another rival gang run by Sayaji Shinde. Kranthi meets Varalakshmi (Hansika Motwani) and falls in love with her at first sight. PR comes to India to settle some scores with his rival. During this visit, he learns that Kranthi is actually his son. So PR now shows affection towards his son and sidelines Ashish Vidyarthi. Ashish's daughter Tanisha is also in love with Kranthi. But Kranthi says that he loves only Varalakshmi. Ashish now walk out of PR’s gang and joins his rival Sayaji Shinde. Kranthi tricks PR and manages to grab all his property.

The film is an NTR show all the way. He is easily the best dancer around and he is also very good in the fight scenes. Prakashraj once again proves why he is the preferred choice for villain. Hansika fills the glamour role very well. The rest of the characters are strictly average. Were their talents downplayed so that NTR Jr. could shine better? You decide after seeing the film.

Music and songs are good. The first half is fairly good but Meher Ramesh incorporates too many twists and sub-plots in the second half of the film. NTR fans are sure to enjoy the film and confirm again that he is a chip of the old block.

Pandurangadu

Pandurangadu

Starring

Balakrishna, Sneha, Tabu, K. Pundareeka is the only black sheep in the family, who does not worship Lord Krishna. He whiles away all his time in the company of women of loose morals.

Lakshmi (Sneha) is an orphan who is brought up by Balayya, a priest in a small village. Lakshmi is a great devotee of Krishna. One day, Krishna appears in her dream and tells her that she should marry a person named Pundareeka who stays in the neighbouring village.

Lakhsmi goes in search of Pundareeka and proposes to him. But he rejects her proposal, saying that he would be happy to spend some nights with her if she so desires but marriage is out of question. But Lakshmi keeps praying to Lord Krishna and hopes for divine intervention.

Pundareeka meanwhile come into contact with Amritha (Tabu), a prostitute. He falls for her charms and spends all his time in her company. Lord Krishna now intervenes and makes Pundareeka marry Lakshmi. But Pundareeka continues his wayward life even after marriage.

Finally, Pundareeka loses all his wealth and property to the machinations of Amritha and her mother. His family members and he leave their ancestral home and he roams around aimlessly. At this juncture, he comes into contact with a holy man (Dr. Mohan Babu) who reforms Pundareeka. The rest of the story is how Pundareeka attains moksha.

Balakrishna comes out with an impressive performance. He is very good in his role as Krishna and even reminds us of his late father N.T. Rama Rao in appearance and dialogue delivery. He is okay in his second role as Pundareeka, though his makeup could have been better.

Senha plays the devotional girl to perfection. She also looks and acts her part with effortless ease. Tabu, as Amritha the prostitute, sizzles and portrays her part to perfection. K. Vishwanath does his role with natural ease. Dr. Mohan Babu is very impressive in his short cameo of just a few minutes. The role of Narada, played by L.B. Sriram, is demeaned by cheap dialogues. Music by Keeravani is a big asset for the film.

The film has more hot romance than devotion, which detracts from its devotional aspect. The first half is just average. The film picks up only after Pundareeka meets the holy man (muni) and is reformed. The climax is also too long by today's standards.

The family audiences (for whom the film is intended) may not enjoy the film because of the excessive dose of romance; Tabu's revealing historical costumes and the double meaning dialogues will also drive away family audiences.

Contact searchspiderz
