On one blog I came across a UTube Video titled, "All Marketers Are Liars!" which is a film of Seth Godin's speech to a group of top Google engineers and marketers. As you can imagine Seth Godin must be really clever to be asked to speak to top members of Google, and much of his talk kept me enthralled. If you want to watch the video, here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZnYRaQfjK4 .

One thing that Seth said, got me thinking, not because it was profound, but because my initial reaction was "How on earth am I going to do that?" This Seth Godin guy is a brilliant entrepreneur, author and marketer. How on earth can I expect to do what he's suggesting. Oh, I'm sorry! I haven't told you what he was suggesting. He was basically saying that to keep people's interest you must keep doing something remarkable. That means that "something" must be worth remarking about.

I use various techniques to promote my network marketing business, but I would be the first to admit that I am not an expert at marketing, nor is anything I do remarkable. You may feel the same - I mean about your efforts. After recovering from the initial shock, I decided that Seth Godin, with his amazing talents and skills, might be able to keep developing remarkable things and he was a multi-millionaire as a result. But there are hundreds of mult-millionaires who have built network marketing businesses without much in the way of doing remarkable marketing and promotion or having remarkable skills.

I have met a few very rich network marketers who are hopelessly disorganised, who bore the tears out of audiences at meetings. When they dress in a made to measure suit, they still look as if they've been dragged backwards through a hedge and would stand out in a crowd only for that reason.

So what do these successful network marketing business men and women do to get there. Seth Godin is right in what he says and these network marketers have actually done something remarkable and are probably still doing so. Ask them and they will tell you that they keep doing lots of little things, each and every day, that in themselves don't amount to much, but combined, very definitely are worth remarking on.

Success itself is remarkable. With a marathon champion, each step of the race does not in itself appear remarkable, even though it is, especially as the distance increases. Each and every action you take to build your network marketing business may not appear remarkable, but it is and even more so the longer you keep building.

Don't confuse remarkable with fancy, or clever, or smart. Just find a few simple things to do that produce a positive result. Keep doing those things for as long as it takes to build a network marketing business of the size you want which, in itself will be remarkable and so will your income.

Gordon Milton

Quite simply, it is impossible to survive, let alone prosper, in network marketing if there is not a steady supply of new people joining your team. Network marketers can be separated into three distinct prospector groups and it is worthwhile knowing which group you are in now and whether you need to change groups or not.

The first group are those that enjoy prospecting. It is so natural to them they probably don't even think about it. These people can easily succeed in network marketing.

The second group are uncomfortable with prospecting but they have a great enough reason to succeed at their network marketing business to continue prospecting anyway. Very often these people will, through sheer persistence, soon discover that practice makes perfect and begin to enjoy prospecting, often moving into the first group.

The third group is made up of people dislike prospecting completely. Unfortunately very few have a strong enough reason for being in the network marketing business to succeed. The result is generally failure, but not always if they are prepared to have a rethink.

When you distil the difference between the three groups it boils right down to how comfortable a person is with prospecting. How quickly we achieve something is directly related to how quickly we become comfortable with what we have to do.

I was monitoring some drainage work being done on some land adjacent to our house the other day, and I got talking to the overseer. His ambition was to open up a bookshop. He loved books. He had a library of over 500 books in his home. Each evening he shut himself off from the rest of the household and with a glass of wine in his hand he would settle down in a comfortable chair to read a book.

As we talked, it became obvious to me that this man wasn't ready to open his book store. He didn't have the money to fund a business and the idea of raising the funds through a bank loan was uncomfortable to him - frightening, in fact. He had never attempted this before. He didn't know if he could do it. He didn't have a big enough reason to make him take action. It wasn't that he wasn't capable of being where he wanted to be, he wasn't totally comfortable with the thoughts and feelings yet.

As you know, whatever we do - our actions - are governed by our thoughts and feelings, so if you are uncomfortable with having to do something today, you will tend to put off doing it till sometime in the future. That is what the overseer was doing - procrastinating

How do you get comfortable with the thought of something? By having enough knowledge on how to do something, so that you know that when you take enough action you will achieve the results you want. That knowledge on how to do something is often referred to as know-how, or competence. Competence precedes confidence.

If you are uncomfortable with prospecting, you must decide whether your reason for building a network marketing business is strong enough to sustain you for long enough to gain the knowledge and the practice necessary to change you into a competent, confident prospector.

Gordon Milton
"Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity" - OPRAH WINFREY

Most people immediately respond, "for the money!" However, this is not the real reason. No one works hard building any business just for money in the bank. It's what that money can buy; the trappings of wealth - the houses, cars, children's education, holidays, boats and planes. Whatever your reason, the one thing that remains constant is that if you want plenty of money and plenty of time to enjoy that money, it is necessary to build a large network marketing internet business.

Building a large and successful internet network marketing business is simple, although don't confuse simple with easy. It is simple because in the modern network marketing internet business, the task you get paid for is to find new customers and to teach them to find new customers. It is the "finding" that is not easy, because you must become accomplished at marketing and promotion. The more accomplished you become the larger your income will become.

Until the internet age, everyone had used newspapers, magazines, bill-boards, word-of-mouth, leaflets, drop cards and latterly, television to name a few. These methods have been refined over many years and there is a mountain of information to aid the novice for decades as change only happens comparatively slowly.

Some network marketers have become really good at marketing in the off-line world but have not been able to adapt to the internet as the virtual nature serves only to confuse. Contrarily, many who only found failure off-line have achieved success levels beyond their wildest dreams, online. Being able to adjust is advantageous to one's success in today's internet marketing world, but there is a further problem.

Although there is a growing flood of advice and information on the subject of internet marketing, the internet is experiencing unprecedented growth and change which makes much of the information obsolete within a few months. To solve this, many of the top network marketing internet business opportunities provide evolving, but none-the-less, remarkably specific information and training supplied by their successful members, who see it as their niche to keep abreast of all the changes.

Just the same as in the offline world, there are many recommended marketing and promotion methods and the variety may seem overwhelming. It is advisable to choose between three and five which suit you best and stick with those. Frequently logging in to your back office and familiarising yourself with any changes can only enhance your chances of success in building a large network marketing internet business, in time.

Gordon Milton
I use a system that empowers my entire team to become effective business owners, overnight, for free. The real benefit of Traffic Swarm is its ability to deliver visitors to your website passively and you should know how to set things up to achieve this. First, let's begin with being a free member of Traffic Swarm.

Free members can list up to 10 separate adverts and you need to make full use of this. The reasons will become obvious shortly. Traffic Swarm bases the amount of visitors to your website on the number of adverts you have active and the number of credits you have in reserve.

For example, if you have done enough surfing to build a reserve of 3,000 credits and you have 10 active adverts, you will have close to 100 of your credits used up per day. This is calculated roughly as follows.

3,000 credits divided by 30 days in a month is 100 credits. Having your full complement of active adverts means your full complement of 100 credits is used on that day. Replenishing your reserve each day, would only require you to surf sufficient sites to generate 100 credits - about 20 to 25 minutes of surfing. With 7 adverts active, you would only benefit from 70% which would be 70 credits. Although it would take less surfing time to replenish the 70 credits, your adverts would be viewed less often.

Now assume that you have your 10 adverts running, 3,000 credits in reserve, plus sufficient members in your group surfing to give you 100 referral credits each day. Your 10 active adverts would be using up 100 credits a day, but all of these would be replenished by the 100 referral credits. So, your bank of 3,000 credits would be maintained without your need to do any surfing. That's passive delivery of website visitors. If you get more people joining your group you have two options.

First you can leave things as they are and as your reserve increases, the daily average usage increases. If for example you had a reserve figure of around 3,600 credits, the number of credits used each day would increase to around 120 meaning your adverts would be viewed more often - that's good. Let's assume that your group were surfing daily, enough to generate 120 referral credits for you. That would mean that you would not be needing to do any surfing yourself. Your Traffic Swarm advertising would remain self-generating with your adverts being shown more often.

The alternative would be to upgrade to the "Pro" level. You could then create more adverts. If you created an additional 2 adverts bringing the total up to 12, then your credit reserve would remain relatively unchanged. Daily usage would be 120 because of the 12 adverts, but would be replenished by the referral credits generated by your group. You would be able to balance the usage by adjusting the number of your active advertisements - pausing and activating them as required.

Although upgrading to "Pro" level would add an extra cost, if you had a team developing below you, you could reasonably expect some of them to upgrade, too. When this happens you will earn a commission, which would offset your monthly subscriptions. As your group membership increased and more upgraded, your earnings would increase and, in time Traffic Swarm could provide an additional income stream for you, as it has for many others.

Gordon Milton
I use and teach a proven radically different approach to building any business online, for free. So it is natural to assume that to grow your network marketing business to equal a global conglomerate, you have to be or become some super human-being. In most other occupations this is true. For example, take a look at the super stardom and super wealth of top athletics.

In athletics, various factors play a significant role in success. Success at the very elevated levels leads to mega-wealth. The athlete needs the basic physical body as the foundation to build on which is developed by training over many years, gradually conditioning everything, including the mental processes, to operate competitively.

A team of trainers, coaches and medical experts assist in the preparation. If the athlete and the support team do their jobs correctly, the result is success. Sponsorship and promotion offers flood in and the athlete can enjoy the trappings of mega-wealth.

But what happens if you fail to reach mega-stardom. Records of the mediocre athletes show lives beset by lack of money and support and a dreams that endure a few short years instead of decades or more. This pattern although transparent in sport, athletics, entertainment and others, is common to most walks of life. In network marketing the situation of being barred from super-stardom and mega-wealth, just because you are "average" is simple to overcome.

Every day of every year, a network marketing superstar rises to prominence. Their super-stardom is not because of the opportunity they have joined, their sponsor, their training, company or luck. It is because of themselves. That superstar was waiting to be found. That superstar wanted to be a superstar who had the drive, the natural skills, or the desire to acquire any skills needed. Somebody just happened to offer them the vehicle they needed. Somebody had to sponsor them. It could have been you.

All you have to do is to sponsor a few into your team. To sponsor a super-star or five! keep sponsoring and the law of averages will work in your favour and eventually deliver, meaning you will sponsor a superstar. Keep sponsoring after that and you will eventually sponsor more superstars.

At a very large rally an elderly lady was recognised for being a superstar. There was nothing outstanding about her. She wasn't charismatic, stunningly good looking, a captivating speaker, or a leader. She was average - she knew it, and she admitted it. Her success was down to sponsoring enough people into her team to have sponsored five members who were outstanding, charismatic, good looking, captivating speakers, leaders and superstars. That's what will give you, Mr. and Mrs. Average, a successful superstar lifestyle with your network marketing business?

Gordon Milton
I will teach you a radically different, proven approach to build any network marketing business. If you believe in something, it is not just interest or desire, or hope. It is faith. Belief is your truth, your expectation and as such, your motivation and confidence.

To believe in your products, your network marketing business, the network marketing industry and in your team is a prerequisite for success. However, it is your self-belief that provides you with the key to achieve what you believe, but it is self-belief that people have most trouble with and without which , all else amounts to nothing.

Many network marketers have achieved massive success through teaching people how to believe in themselves followed up with the training needed to underpin that belief. For example, set small goals such as, in internet promotion, writing two original articles a week and posting five messages a day on forums. If you are working offline with DVD's, set a goal to hand out 5 DVD's a week and follow each one up within 48 hours.

Small goals such as these are easily accomplished and will build your self-belief. The unseen accomplishment will be that people will watch the presentation on your website or DVD, join your team and your income will develop. Now you are witnessing the results of your actions that were fueled by your belief. People who don't have the belief don't take action so they cannot achieve results.

Those who have a strong belief will be able to make the necessary log-term commitment to their network marketing business and will naturally be the ones to build massive organisations, eventually. The long-term commitment is especially important during the initial growth of anyone's network marketing business as the day-to-day successes and failures encountered can simulate a roller-coaster ride, mentally.

Hopefully, your sponsor is someone whose mission it is in life to be able to influence thousands upon thousands of people to be just a little bit better than they were yesterday. If they have done their job well, today you will have greater self-belief, belief in your products, your network marketing business and in the network marketing industry and you will be nurturing that belief in the members of your team.

Gordon Milton
I use and promote a radically different, proven approach to building a business. Click here for free details.

It is just as difficult to make money on the internet as it is to make money with a "bricks and mortar" business, but on the internet, it is possible to get started with very little money. The ways to make money on the internet are as infinite as your imagination and if you combine those two points there is one absolute. Don't part with any money until you are certain about what you are purchasing.

I have found that the real, honest to goodness organizations that you can "joint venture" with, or work for, present their offers to you in a truly transparent manner. The best of the best, will grant you full access to their methods of conducting business online without any prerequisite for you to part with your money.

In your search for ways to make money on the internet, very often you will be presented with offers to be a re-seller. This means you buy information to sell on to others. Frequently, this information is about how someone has made hundreds of thousands of dollars, possibly millions of dollars, by using techniques obtained through purchasing an e-book for seemingly very little money. The impression is that the "up-side" is so massive as to make the purchase price appear trivial.

Take care. Commonly, the person selling the information has made a fortune using methods that exploit a loop-hole in a service. However, the service-provider maybe closing the loop-hole. You could be too late to gain any advantage using the tactics yourself and word may have spread, making it very difficult to sell the information onwards.

Always ask yourself why the person is offering this information to the public at large. After all, if the biggest businesses go to incredible lengths to keep their money making methods secret, don't you think that anyone who has successfully discovered how to make money on the internet would do the same. However, there are always exceptions.

Sometimes you can be a re-seller for a service, such as web-hosting, or an auto-responder for example. Such services are based on an ongoing subscription and may be linked to an affiliate program. In such circumstances, it is understandable to be offered the opportunity to be a re-seller. The person offering you the service will continue making money on your subscription and you will continue to make money on the internet for the lifetime of your customer's subscriptions.

Gordon Milton

Most think that it is selling the company's products or services whilst others think it is building a team. As Network Marketers, we are in business and when you investigate what the real earner is in any business, it is a finished product. Your MLM home business is no exception. So what is your finished product?

In a manufacturing plant for example, raw material is manipulated into a finished product. That product has value and is sold at a profit, generating income. Now I know that many of you will be thinking that in your MLM home business, the company that you registered with takes care of the product manufacturing side of things. That's not your responsibility. How much money are you going to be able to earn from selling your company's products? Will that income lead to your financial freedom? Probably not, so the problem here is that the company's products are not the finished product that you should be focusing on.

What about building a team? So you start a recruiting campaign and you enrol twenty five or thirty distributors who start using and selling the products. You make some extra money and you think that a team is the finished product. But then you want to earn more money, so you recruit more people, but some of the team members drop out and you find yourself recruiting their replacements. You keep working hard, but your team never gets bigger, because members quit as quickly as you can recruit more. This is known as the revolving door syndrome. The reason why members are quitting is because you don't have a finished product, yet. There is one more stage to go.

If you teach your members how to market and promote, then they will be able to achieve their goals through building their own teams. If they are achieving their goals, they are likely to stick around for quite a long time. In any MLM home business, it is members that you have recruited and fully trained to be highly effective in marketing and promotion that will generate the greatest part of your income for you, making them your finished product.

Gordon Milton
We'll teach you our proven, completely different approach to building any business, for free.

I then asked some Pay It Forward 4 Profits Administrators if they knew anything about Squidoo and I was told, "Yes! Quite a lot and it will become part of the Pay It Forward 4 Profits System, very soon!"

Guess what! Good ol' Yours Truly has jumped ahead and had a go at creating a lens. I am now a "lensmaster". Squidoo is, from what I read, an exceptional tool for promoting your websites, but if you think I can manage to explain why, you can think again. What I am going to do is give you a link to a downloadable e-book (pdf file) which explains the concept behind Squidoo.

What I can tell you is that Google loves Squidoo. If you create a lens it will automatically get a Google PR6 Rating. Also, it is the most powerful wealth generating opportunity available and forms the only realistic hope of a creating a stress-free lifestyle for many people. How else can you start a business with as little as a few hundred dollars with the potential to earn an income equal to a Fortune 500 CEO? Claims abound that anyone, regardless of their education, cultural background, ethnicity, gender or financial state at start up, can succeed. So, why is it that so many people never achieve such quality of life through the mlm home business industry, when so many others do?

Research shows that many people have no idea how to promote anything, let alone a business opportunity, which is why such a high percentage of people, who started with such enthusiasm, fail. It will make little difference which mlm home business opportunity you select. It can have the best ever compensation plan, the best ever products, the best ever management team, the best ever website and back office, but it will be of little use unless you have the know-how to market and promote. If you do not know how, I suggest you stop looking for an opportunity and start learning and mastering the art of marketing and promotion, both offline and online.

This doesn't mean that you have to set aside your ambitions to start earning money in the short term. On the internet, there is a good selection of organisations that will teach you very effective methods of marketing and promoting based on the techniques used by the absolute masters of marketing - the mail order industry. I am not suggesting that you join the mail order or direct response fraternity, just learn from them. The very nature of mail order makes it essential to cover promotion costs at a very early stage in a campaign. This has always been a thorn in the side of mlm. Many of the mail order tactics are being adapted to promote mlm home businesses with phenomenal success. In fact, combining the strategies used in mail order with the leveraging power and residual income of mlm is rapidly overtaking traditional techniques.

If you have already joined an mlm home business opportunity and your upline team are not using mail order promotion tactics, it may be because they have already built their business using traditional mlm methods and don’t feel the need to change. However, don’t limit the speed of growth of your mlm home business by ignoring this very powerful discovery.

Gordon Milton
I use and teach a completely different approach to building any business. That means that in general, Traffic Exchange users are not buyers, but there are exceptions.

I would hazard a guess that you are having a go at building an income for yourself on the internet. Let's assume that as a part of your promotion campaign you are using the Traffic Exchanges. As you spend your time clicking for credits, you see other websites that are competing with you for visitors. You ignore them because you are not interested in another business opportunity.

Then the very next webpage opens offering you a bunch of information about different strategies to help increase your sales. All you have to do is fill in the webform with your name and email address.

Is this more interesting to you? I'll bet it is. In fact, if you are anything like me, you'll waste no time submitting your details.

The point here is that you will get an enormous amount of additional traffic from the traffic exchanges if you understand that almost everyone surfing the traffic exchanges will be ten times more interested in anything that may help them build their business.

Second. How do you know which traffic exchanges are actually delivering your hits? You see, in every industry some operators are not so honest. The Traffic Exchange industry has its fair share of unsavoury characters. They collect your hits rather than show your website to other members. Having collected a percentage of everyones hits, they sell them. Unless you have a way of monitoring that the traffic exchange actually delivers on its promises, you could be ripped off. Yes, I know that most traffic exchanges are free, but your time isn't. Okay, so what do you do about it?

This is very important:

If you are using any traffic exchanges other than Traffic Swarm, you should be checking their performance with Traffic Hoopla. If you don't know what Traffic Hoopla is, click here. You can read up on it on the website. It is a free service, so you have nothing to lose by joining it, and everything to gain.

Gordon Milton
P.S. Much the same applies to Safelists and Traffic Hoopla handles them very well, too.

Statements like, "If something is not duplicatable, do not do it" have been set in stone. Then one of the most high profile and most successful network marketers declares duplication is a myth. Is he right and if so, where does that leave us?

I think it is a matter of degree. The degree of duplicatability depends on what you are doing to build your network marketing business. Once upon a time their was no internet. We had to approach our friends, family, work colleagues and talk to anyone who came within 3 feet of us - that is one metre for you metric-heads. These examples demonstrate how our personality played a major role in our rate of success. Since each of us is unique, our personalities cannot be duplicated which lends weight to the argument that duplication is a myth, but then there is the internet.

On the internet everything can be automated. I can set up a, "just add water" marketing system with everything such as suggested headlines and ad copy; how to's on blog marketing, article marketing, search engine optimisation, effective pay per click advertising and much more.

I could make this marketing system available to everybody in my group and by using it they will get very similar results. They can duplicate me - but still only to a degree because - and this may surprise you - of the internet.

As soon as you offer a specific way to do something, word gets out and on the internet, most people will be using it within 48 hours and be competing with each other. The traffic exchanges demonstrate multiple examples of this. That being the case, the more determined and enterprising network marketers look for ways to tweak the system. A typical tweak for example, is to modify advertisements by changing the headlines and the body copy. How does this affect duplication?

Tweaking any part of the system introduces your own ideas and preferences - your personality. As your personality is unique, any changes you make, reduces by degree, the duplicatablity of the system, does it not? Back to the question - where does this leave you and me?

It doesn't change anything for you and me, because duplication never has existed, or at least not for any length of time. Modern technology such as the internet has raised the degree of duplicatability which merely provides for a larger percentage of the population to succeed than ever before. What will change things for you and me is to engage in constant and never ending improvement in everything we do in network marketing, which by default, reduces the degree of duplication.

Gordon Milton
If you would be a lumberjack, first learn how to sharpen your axe. If you are anything like me, you bounce them straight into file 13 or the junk folder.

Also, you will receive incoming calls via the phone, skype or an IM, with more offers. Some are so focused on making a sale, they don't wait to discover if you are looking, before explaining how fantastic their deal is. Often I will agree to take a look at their website, just to get them off my back.

Most people react negatively to these tactics because the people who pitch you are strangers. You may know one or two because maybe you met them through a forum. There is no room for trust. Most of these spammers and cold callers have failed at making money online, so far and they are now pitching you on their latest venture. Can they really expect you to do business with them?

These tactics should tell you that some company has come up with another product or service, but they don't know how to market or promote it. Their solution is to set up an affiliate or network marketing program to attract sufficient members who do know how to market and promote. Also, the person who is pitching you doesn't know how to market and promote, because if they did, they wouldn't be approaching you in this manner. There is an easier, more professional way and it works.

First, stop pitching people. If they do not know you, they cannot trust you and are most unlikely to buy from you. Tell people what you know, what you do and why you do it. Let them decide if they can relate to you and if they agree with you. Explain to them the effective methods you are using to help yourself. If you are using methods that work, you are an expert and you can help them. They will want to try those methods, too. But, start selling those ideas and you will destroy all the trust, immediately.

In summary, find what works for you. Give those ideas freely to others. When they benefit too, they will begin to respect and trust you. As the trust builds, they will approach you for advice and ideas and maybe, just maybe they will buy from you or join your team.

Gordon Milton
If you would be a lumberjack, first learn how to sharpen your axe. Network Marketing is closely aligned to this. So ask yourself this, "With whom is your time most profitably spent - the high-flying 20 percent or the fruitless 80 percent?"

Most people fall into the trap of trying to get the 80 percent to do what the 20 percent are doing. They feel that the 80 percent are the ones that need the help. Hypothetically that makes sense, but in practice you'll be wasting your time.

Consider this. Suppose for a moment that you are growing asparagus. When the seedlings have reached a particular stage in their growth, you pull out the weakest ones and then you provide the strongest ones all the attention and nourishment in order to produce large healthy, succulent asparagus tips. Successful horticulturalists don't spend their time on the weakest seedlings. The same principle applies to people that you bring into your network marketing business.

Several years ago, many of the top network marketers across the globe were surveyed. One of the questions posed was, "What has been your biggest problem in growing your network marketing business?" Over 90% answered, "Spending too much time with the wrong people!" If you spend your time with the people who show real potential for growth, your own business will flourish. In contrast, spending time with people who will not help themselves will exhaust you and you will wonder why your business is not going anywhere.

Even if your network marketing business was your sole occupation, you are still limited to 24 hours a day to give to it. How you spend that time is very important. If you have recently joined a network marketing company and are in the throws of working yourself up to getting started, don't wait until you've walked the dog. Don't call your mother first. Don't read the daily paper first.

Is walking the dog, or talking to your mother, or reading the newspaper directly helping you to achieve the things for which you joined your network marketing business. I suspect not. Before you decide to do anything, ask yourself if it is the best thing you can do, at this time, to help you succeed. Do your most important tasks first.

Gordon Milton
If you would be a lumberjack, first learn how to sharpen your axe. If you would be an Internet Network Marketer, first click here to learn how to Market and Promote:

Let me relate a tale (tail!) to you. A young man was travelling around a corner on a narrow a country lane, when he suddenly had to swerve and brake sharply to avoid an oncoming car.

As the drivers windows drew alongside each other, the lady driver in the other car yelled out, "pig!" Not to be outdone, our guy yelled back, "sow!" and accelerated away. As he sped round the next sharp bend in the road, he smacked into the largest pig he had ever seen.

Here are a few network marketing "Pigs" that you should keep your eyes open for.

Pig number 1. Don't focus on selling the products. I know that in their marketing materials, most network marketing corporations play heavily on the amazing benefits of their products and services. That is understandable, as the company makes its money from sales of products or services.

This is a "pig" because, in network marketing, your primary task is to market and promote the opportunity - to build a network. Everybody has only 24 hours in a day. The more time you spend on retailing the less time you will have to build a network. You may initially earn some quick money by selling products, but as soon as you stop selling you will stop earning.

Pig number 2. In your efforts to build your network, you will come across prospects that will decline the opportunity, but will buy your product. If you sell products and earn a commission, do not use that money to pay your day-to-day bills. Use it to fund your team building activities. In a way, this is the same as investing in your retirement.

Pig number 3. Don't be seduced into working ever more hours. Many people do this and end up disenchanted, burned out and eventually quitting network marketing and their dreams. The whole idea is that network marketing is designed to be done in an hour and a half to two hours a day.

So many people find it difficult to understand that using that time to "build a team", adds leverage. For example, if you are committing 10 hours a week and you have a group of 30 (five who have five each) who are also committing 10 hours a week, there is over 300 hours a week being committed to your business.

Pig number 4. Have patience. Your ten hours a week will start to show results, but not this week, or next week. Network marketing is governed by the concept of delayed gratification. What you do today will manifest itself in about three months time. If you expect to get paid today for the work you've done today, you are setting yourself up to be disappointed. Why? Because just as it has done for you, it will take time for your new team members to get trained, become competent and to build

Gordon Milton
http://www.gotitfigured.ws

Many are surprised to find that it takes a lot more than placing a few ads in the paper, to build a large and successful business. If you want to grow your business, the following tips may help you do just that.

For support, family and friends are a good starting point, but you would be well advised to expand your network. To do this, consider the places where you can find good customers who are also centers of influence. Some ideas include local civic associations, regional trade shows, professional conferences and seminars, breakfast clubs and chamber of commerce meetings.

Create a network through locating other businesses who are not in competition with you, but who are likely to get inquiries about the type of products and services that you offer. For instance, your speciality may be submersible pumps. If you've established a good relationship with a quality pipe supplier, they may send you people who want a pump and in exchange you should send them people who need piping.

Whenever the opportunity arises, talk to people. The possibilities are endless and it gives you something to do instead of just waiting around for a bus or airplane. Just striking up a conversation can bring you in a lot of additional business.

If you use the internet then you may want to consider checking message boards and forums relative to your niche, to help build your online mailing list. Whether you are selling a local product or not, when online, your computer screen puts you within a few feet of the rest of the world.

Consider doing a few local demonstrations on the product or service you are offering. This can help increase the publicity for your business. Or for instance, if you sell pet portraits, you could hang samples of your pictures in local veterinary clinics and pet supply shops, adding to the decoration. This way you can increase your popularity, be passively advertising and possibly gain further sales later.

For the top marketing techniques consider attending functions that focus on your niche products and industry and networking with people to learn from their successes and challenges. Another technique is to study any trade journals for your business industry. You will probably discover people that you can approach with a specific question or problem that you may encounter with your business. Remember to follow up with the individual and thank them for their help so they know you appreciate it.

Gordon Milton
Website

Is the high failure rate true? If it is, what is causing it and can you reduce the risk of you failing?

Is the high failure rate true? In a word, "Yes!", but upon investigation, it is apparent that the typical home based business is no more likely to fail than a conventional "bricks and mortar" business". 95% of traditional businesses fail before they reach their fifth birthday. The only difference with the home based business, is that failure can and often does, occur within the first year. Most analysts agree that the difference is primarily due to the amount invested. Opening a local newsagent will cost anywhere between $50,000 and $150,000. The cost of launching a typical home based business will be anywhere from zero to $2,000. Naturally, if your business venture is not living up to expectations, it would be less painful to shut it down if you had only invested $500, than if you had invested $70,000, wouldn't it?

But, in my view, there is one factor that is more responsible for failure than any other, regardless of whether yours is a home based business or not. It is an area of skill that most people with a job back ground would have never needed and yet, it is essential to your business success regardless of your work skills. Evidence suggests that over 90% of the population have no natural talent in this crucial area. Without gaining sufficient knowledge and skill in the area of marketing and promotion, failure is inevitable.

How is it that countless people, after spending years in training to be engineers, or top class athletes, or bricklayers, open up a business, even within their area of expertise, and fail to learn how to promote and market their products and services?

You will be faced with very stiff competition throughout the life of your home based business. Other than your quality of workmanship and service, there is only one thing that will keep your venture afloat when faced with such competition, and that is your ability to effectively market and promote.

If I was starting in business all over again, whether it be "bricks and mortar" or home based, I would spend time learning how to maket and promote, first. If your venture is not meeting your expectations, tuning your marketing and promotion skills may need your urgent attention.

Gordon Milton
P.S. If you're attempting to market and promote your business opportunity, product or service, wouldn't it be a good idea to learn how from the experts - especially for free - click here?

Are there easy work at home options for the novice? Is there such a thing as the most successful work at home opportunity and if so, what is it? How do you find out the truth about work at home opportunities? Where should you look for unique work at home options? Are there any special skills needed? So, the challenge is finding the right business opportunity - one that is legitimate, profitable and easy to start. One that fits you!

You can easily get information from any number of web sites, in order to find the most suitable work at home opportunity. Some sites are dedicated to helping people find work at home opportunities that require little to no capital to start up. Others offer help with finding opportunities where you can make use of the skills you learned at previous jobs. For example, let's say you have several years of experience in Sales. An agency agreement with an established company may be suitable. This type of work at home opportunity is easy to start up and will have some income flowing in fairly quickly.

Now, what about you? Maybe it would be wise to consider the amount of time you will be able to commit to working at home. Are you looking for a work at home opportunity where 100% of your work will be done indoors, at home, or would you prefer to be out and about in your community? Are you comfortable with sales, working face to face, on the telephone and online? Would you be better at admin or clerical tasks? If there are others living with you, have you considered the compatibility of your venture with their needs? Where in your home, for instance, are you going to make your office and how will that affect the running of your home?

In conclusion, deciding to base you future career on a work at home opportunity is something that does need careful consideration. Be that as it may, there is now, a mountain of evidence that it has been the right decision for hundreds of thousands around the world.

Gordon Milton.
I use and teach a completely different approach to building a home based business. It isn’t easy, but it doesn’t have to be inordinately formidable either. With a little bit of precaution, prudence and planning, even the toughest entanglement can be overcome.

There are three golden rules that should be adhered to when running an internet home based business and, if abided by, will assist the creation of a potent venture - one which will reward you handsomely. If discounted, those same laws will anchor your business to the bastions of mediocrity.

First, you must have an almost tangible objective of where your internet home based business will be five, ten, even twenty years from now? How big do you want it to be? How much will it change and in what way? Try to anticipate all the obstructions that may surface and form strategies to surmount them. You cannot expect to predict all complications, but mentally, you must be prepared for them when they confront you.

Second. Regardless of it being online or offline, it is your home based business. Everything starts with you, so work as hard as you can and build a team of hard workers around you, too. With your internet home based business and with your personal capabilities, you should adopt the CANEI principle - Constant And Never Ending Improvement. Research, and educate yourself about your trade and industry to help you prepare for the future.

Third, develop and exploit the power of personal networks. “It is not what you know, but who you know.” Remonstrating against what this truism may imply, will not help you. The fact remains that your success largely depends on the number and quality of people who are kindly disposed towards you. Your personal network and the networks of your employees should be cultivated and utilized to their maximum potential in terms of advertising and sales efforts. Carefully nurture those in your personal network, provide the necessary services and in reciprocation, they may endorse you across their networks.

In summary, to give your home business the very best chance of fulfilling your ambitions, create a long term plan. Anticipate future challenges and educate yourself to overcome them. Cultivate, nurture and exploit networks. Internalise these three golden rules and your journey to success will be much smoother.

Gordon Milton
I use and recommend a completely different approach to building a home based business. They may be more suited to your
everyday internet marketing strategies, but they wont
always be more effective than offline forms of media,
especially since there is often less website competition in
offline media.

Depending on location, many billboards can be rented for as
little as $800 per month. The benefits of including a
billboard in your current marketing campaign could be that
this form of advertising is less saturated with websites
and may even end up generating a better result than online
advertising.

Make time for other people when marketing your product or
service. Start making friends within your niche and its
related industries, as your best support will always be
those people with whom you have built the close
relationships. Be genuine, sincere, and giving – and expect
nothing in return.

Now that we've discussed a little about promoting your
website using offline strategies let's go back to internet
marketing.

Purchasing software needed to create a social network
similar to Myspace, but for your specific niche could
develop into an effective viral internet marketing
strategy. Creating and maintaining such a site will
encourage your current customers to participate in growing
your business. More friends joining the network is always a
bonus for them, so they will promote it, and passively
promote your business at the same time

Advertised “free” advertising is generally a poor internet
marketing strategy, as it isn't free or doesn't work. Many
supposedly good ideas are sold in ebooks, which in
themselves, cost money.

Promoting your site by simply tuning it to get higher
search engine ranking is a highly effective internet
marketing strategy. For example, you could start by
conducting keyword research for your given niche. You could
then edit each page to contain a 1.5 – 3% keyword density
for that selected keyword.

Another most effective internet marketing strategy is to
set up joint venture partnerships. You can do this by
contacting other big sites in your niche. If you have to,
you can use a customer service contact number to find out
how you can talk to the owner. Clearly explain to your
partner what their involvement will entail and what
benefits will result.

To reiterate before we conclude, don't totally ignore
offline promotion of your website. Make it a supplement to
your internet marketing strategy and you will probably see
a surge in business.

Gordon Milton
P.S. I use a completely different approach to building a
home based business and you can get the details here.

However, being certain that
you are in business for the right reasons, and that you
aren’t going to meet any unexpected circumstances, is very
important with regard to how you will feel about your
venture and how successful you will be.

Reasons

People's reasons for having an internet home business, are
as broad as they are long. Perhaps, for instance you've
chosen to work from home because it is going to fit into,
and improve, your life. If you decide that you simply want
to work at home, there are many ways that you can
accomplish this without going into business. However, if
you really have the drive and ambition to not only work at
home, but to be able to create a business from zero, then
it would be an excellent selection.

Simply because you have crossed swords with your employer
is not a good reason to launch an internet home business.
However, you may possess new and cutting-edge ideas in your
specialised field od endeavour, and this might be why you
feel the home business option is best. However, if you are
simply doing it so that you can compete with your current
employer, you are going into the business for the wrong
reasons.

You should be opening a home business because you want to
make a difference in the specialised field, and also
because you truly enjoy what you are doing and think that
you are going to be able to do it better from home. These
are all reasons that may persuade you to start a home
business. As an idea, working from home and being your own
boss should simply be something good that goes with the
territory. Keep in mind that, once you start an internet
home business it is going to be in your life, and it is
going to be something that you have to plan for in the
future. This means that starting an internet home business
should never be taken lightly and should be carefully
thought through.

Gordon Milton http://www.gotitfigured.ws

Although you are
around right now, you should be thinking about the future
and that you might want to pass your home business on, one
day.

Passing On A Business

Passing your internet home based business on to your
children is similar to passing on a regular business to
your kids. There are several things that you have to think
about, and you have to make sure that your family knows
what you want to do.

Interest

First, are the members of your family who will benefit,
actually interested and know what it's all about - that you
are offering them an internet home based business
oppotunity that is established and financially rewarding?
If your children don’t seem interested, you might be better
of selling your business before your retire so that it
doesn't become a burden in retirement. Remember, when you
pass on your business to your children, you want to make
them happy and you want to keep your business running. If
you don’t think your kids are going to appreciate running
an internet home based business, it might be best to sell
it.

Responsibility

Keep in mind that you have invested heavily with time,
effort and money, to get your business to where it is, and
you'll want to be sure that it gets passed on to someone
who is going to be responsible with it. If your children
have shown interest and you think that they are going to
handle your home business in a responsible way, passing it
on to them should be seriously considered.

Finally, remember that you are the one who has built up
your home business, and this means that you are the one who
makes the decision about what happens to it when you are
finished being in charge. Make sure that you have made your
intentions clear, and are comfortable with what will happen
to your internet home based business later on down the
road.

Gordon Milton
http://www.gotitfigured.ws

Each of us has 24 hours in a day and your
internet home business could be robbing you of time with
your spouse and your children and friends, to listen to
music, to read books, or to enjoy a multiplicity of other
interests. What can you possibly do?

What was described in the first paragraph typifies a
time management paradox. Millions of internet home business
owners, feel that they are not in complete control of their
time, or of their lives, leaving many feeling miserable. In
this condition, you will never be truly happy, no matter
how rich you are or how much recognition you receive.

Managing Your Time Properly

The cardinal rule of time management is this: Set your
priorities. In life, few things are more important than
setting your priorities, since they form the foundation for
allocating the time to spend on each area of your life. You
must identify exactly what you want in life, and determine
to spend more time on those things that you feel are most
important.

In the immortal words of Goethe, “Things that matter most
must never be at the mercy of things that matter least.” If
your internet home business isn’t the most important thing,
you should begin to scale down the time you personally
spend on it. You can either 1) get someone else to do the
job for you; or 2) install automation to handle the
repetitive tasks. Remember: You own your home business; it
doesn’t own you.

Time management gurus tell us that most people don’t really
work all the time that they are at work. They may spend an
hour here chatting with officemates, another hour there for
lunch, and another utterly distracted. This causes work to
pile up and challenges to surface at a later time.

To avoid this, work all the time you're at work on your
internet home business. Definitely take breaks whenever you
need them, but don't take more than time than you need to.
Focus on the task at hand to get it done more quickly and
free up more time for the other things you want to do.
Gordon Milton
http://www.gotitfigured.ws
