Main concepts

User

This is the real you working on a project.

Persona

Persona is a public image that you use to speak for your company or yourself in online social media. The persona can be your real self or a purely imaginary character.

As a user, you can establish multiple virtual personas. Each of them can have his/her own profiles on forums, blogs, social networking sites etc.

Profile

A profile is a social media account registered on a persona from your project. The persona can have multiple profiles (one profile per site).

Buzz

These are social media discussions (posts and dialogues) BuzzBundle has found or imported from your profiles.

Stream

A stream is a flow of buzz. It shows either of the following types of posts:

Found by the mentions of your keywords and URLs,
Imported from a social media profile of your choice.
Dialogue

This is a public conversation BuzzBundle has found or imported from your profile. Dialogues are made of posts.

Post

By a post, we mean an individual message publicly available in a social network or other social media. 2 or more posts make up a dialogue.

Private Message

Private messages are sent to specified recipients and are not visible to others. They are called private messages on forums, direct messages on Twitter or simply messages on Facebook and LinkedIn.

You can import private messages from your social media accounts and send replies straight from your BuzzBundle project.

Keyword group

This is a set of keywords related to your topic of interest (e.g. an organization, brand, product, event or social phenomenon). BuzzBundle shows you posts in which the keywords are present. You can include related URLs into your keyword group and track them together with the keywords.

Why not start a keyword group for your product (product line)? Populate it with common word combinations containing your brand name. Non-brand keywords can also be of use. If your product offers a solution to some problem (say, hair fuzziness), it makes sense to find people discussing this problem and drop in a word about your product as a possible solution.

IRFANVIEW

If you try to optimize PDF files created out of images like scans, you’d better check IrfanView image viewer. This is an image viewer, but if you install a free plugin from the official site, IrfanView will be able to turn your huge PDFs into light-weight documents. If you have just a set of scan images, you can resize them in IrfanView, and then convert them into PDF. But if there’s a ready PDF file, then drag and drop it into IrfanView, go to File > Save as and select the PDF as output file type. Immediately, the PDF settings window will pop up. Here you can adjust PDF compression levels from good to really low and save a smaller PDF file. The result of the compression will depend on your settings. If you choose the lowest quality, you’ll save up to 50% of file size, but sacrifice its quality.

Unfortunately, picking the right web hosting account can be a really difficult task. Especially if you are not technically inclined at all, because all the different choices and options you have to pick from will make anybody’s head swim.

Luckily, I have a lot of experience with web hosting in my business. I currently have accounts with over 10 different web hosting companies. And I have had to deal with dozens more. So in this guide, I will show you all the considerations you need to go through to pick the perfect web hosting account.

What Type of Web Hosting Should I Get

The first question you need to ask yourself is what type of web hosting you should get. There are many different choices out there: Shared Hosting, Virtual Private Servers (VPS), Dedicated Servers, or even Reseller Hosting. If you have never created a website before then the choice is easy. 99 times out of 100 you should pick shared hosting.

With shared hosting, your website will share a single server computer’s resources with a number of other customers. It’s the most cost effective, but more importantly it’s the easiest solution to setup and get up and running quickly.

Only when you start getting lots of traffic to your website, should you consider moving to any of the other web hosting types.

What To Look For In A Web Hosting Company

Inevitably when newcomers look at web hosting, the first thing they look at is the price. This is a big mistake! My very first web hosting company that I used was a company called Dreamhost. I did not know anything about web hosting at the time, and I only picked them because they were offering an amazing discount at the time.

Dreamhost wasn’t terrible, and I stuck with them for awhile. However, they just grew too fast and weren’t able to support all their customers. My website’s starting going down more and more often and eventually I just became fed up with them and was forced to find a new web host.

So when picking a web hosting company, I really focus on two main things.

1. Reliability (Uptime)
2. Support

Reliability and uptime is pretty self explanatory. You want your website to be up 24/7 at all times if possible. Of course, there are always unforeseen things that can happen to any web hosting company, whether it be server failures or the like. But a good web hosting company will have a good team that can deal with these issues in a timely manner and most importantly communicate with their customers what’s going on.

Responsive support is another must have with any web hosting company. There’s nothing more frustrating and panic inducing then finding your website down one day, submitting a support ticket, and waiting hours (or even days) for someone to tell you what’s going on. Many of the better web hosting companies include a Live Chat function on their website so you can talk to someone within minutes. Also check if a company has a Twitter account and see how responsive they are to customer service requests.

Only after looking and Reliability and Support will I look at other things like Features and Cost. Honestly, most shared hosting plans pretty much offer the same types of features. Just make sure you know how many Add-on Domains and MySQL databases you are allowed to put on your account. And I prefer web hosts that offer the cPanel control panel since it’s easy to use and most web hosts use it.

How To Research The Best Web Hosting Company

Researching web hosting companies can be a time consuming and frustrating task. Mainly because there is a lot of worthless information out there. Searching on Google for a particular web host review is essentially useless because 95% of the posted reviews out there are driven by lucrative web hosting commissions instead of providing any actual value.

Beware of any website that shows a table of their Top 10 web hosts reviewed. It is very rare that anyone has tested this many web hosts and are giving them legitimate reviews. Plus, web hosting companies are known to boost commissions for webmasters who will bump up their web host in the rankings.

Instead of searching on Google, here is how you should find and evaluate a web hosting companies instead.

1. Search on forums. The best web hosting forum is WebHostingTalk.com. But you can also find good opinions about web hosts on other more niche forums like the Warrior Forum (Internet Marketing) and Sitepoint. Forums are usually the best because you will usually get actual opinions (positive and negative) that aren’t influenced by an affiliate commission.

2. Monitor their twitter account. Locate any web hosting companies’ official twitter account. Then monitor the @replies that other Twitter users are making. Are there lots of users complaining about downtime? Or do they sound happy in general.

3. Contact their support. The best way to test out a web hosting support is to try them out. If they have a Live Chat, test it out and see how long it takes for someone to respond. Or send a support ticket and see the same.

4. Ask a friend. Do you know someone who already runs their own website? Why not ask them what they think of their web hosting provider.

Which Shared Hosting Do I Recommend

I currently have 4 different shared web hosting accounts. Bluehost, Inmotion Hosting, Site5, and Hostgator. However, the one I recommend most often is Hostgator. I’ve been with them since 2008 and I couldn’t be happier with them. Not only is this blog Misterfong.com hosted with Hostgator, but it also the web host of choice for sites likeTrafficGenerationCafe.com, BasicBlogTips.com, Blokube.com, BenSettle.com, John-Carlton.com among others.

While not the cheapest web host out there, their uptime is excellent. This Pingdom monitoring widget show’s a real time look at the uptime for my site over the past 30 days.

Why haven’t you heard of these link sources before? You have. But you’ve probably been told they are a waste of time by your Web developer, who claims these big, popular sites aren’t us33eful for Google optimization.

The reason is that most powerhouse social media sites like Facebook and YouTube put a small piece of code called ‘the no follow’ tag into most areas of their site. As the name implies, the ‘no follow’ tells search engines: if someone tries to build backlinks to their site from here, don’t follow it. Instead, ignore it.

This was and is done to prevent spammers. If you didn’t have the ‘no-follow’ tag, spammers would create thousands of Facebook profiles, LinkedIn profiles, and YouTube accounts just to link those sites back to their website. The ‘no-follow’ breaks the connection you are trying to make between one website and the next, defeating the purpose of a link from the perspective of Google optimization (people can of course still click the link and visit your site directly).

But it’s a fallacy that all social media sites have no-follows. In fact, many sites provide juicy link opportunities. You just need to find them. And we did.

These are all real links, and are entirely legitimate and approved for optimization by Google.

Google Profiles

We recommend creating profiles for key employees and founders. Be sure to add custom links with anchor text (“anchor text” is the actual words that comprise the link23. You want these to be search terms for which you want to be found, not your name or company name. This anchor text helps Google determine what other sites think your site is about) . Your profile link on Google Profiles will be devoid of a no – follow and you can add much additional information along with the link including videos and photos. These profiles are especially important now that Google Plus has launched.

Google Places

Create a local business listing for all of your offices. Use target keywords in the profile and description fields. This is a great source that is devoid of no – follows and has high visibility in the search results. A Powerful, easy, and effective place to build backlinks.

LinkedIn.com

Build a company profile, as well as individual profiles for key employees and founders. Select “Other” when setting your first web site link to create custom anchor text. Also take advantage of the two additional links available, but no custom anchor text is allowed.

Digg

Digg is great for traffic generation, and while not the powerhouse it once was, is still a large community. Plus, you can submit articles you want to promote, and links to those articles are followed by search engines.

Foursquare

Even if you’re not a check-in maniac, you should set up Foursquare profiles, as the link you associate with your account is followed.

Reddit

An article submission site in the Digg vein. Very active with highly engaged users. The links you submit will be devoid of the no – follow attribute.

Squidoo

Create as many Squidoo “lenses” as you like, about any topic. A lens typically consists of a blog post-esque article, with links to other recommended sources.

Stumbleupon

An article discovery site that’s exceedingly busy and popular. Drives significant eyeballs all around the Web. Submitted links are followed.

Yelp

Even if you don’t know a burger from a baba ganoush, create a profile on Yelp. The link in your profile is followed. Links in comments, however, are no-follow.

This local business portal allows you to create a profile for your business and is devoid of the no – follow attribute. Use target keywords in the profile and description fields, and anchor text if possible.

YouTube

Create a custom YouTube channel for your company . While comments and any links you include in your description will have the rel=”nofollow” attribute, YouTube gives you a link in your profile that is devoid of no – follow.

Article submission is becoming a bit dated in terms of Google optimization and building backlinks. In my previous post I told you how to add a site or blog to Google Webmaster Tools and in the end of the post I said that I will show you how to submit sitemap in Google webmaster tools. So in this post I will show you how to submit blogger sitemap to Google webmaster tools. It is a very important step to submit a sitemap because it helps Google to crawl your links and index them. It doesn't mean that only submitting sitemap is important, robots txt optimization, meta tags optimization, blog title optimization and seo basics are also more important.
Submitting sitemap in Google webmaster tools is the second most important step towards better seo, but in blogger it isn't simple like websites as in websites the sitemap exists at http://www.mywebsite.com/sitemap.html but in blogger there is no sitemap like that so you have to use anyone of the below links to find your sitemap:

If your blog has below 500 posts use this sitemap:

atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500

If your blog has more than 500 posts use this one:

atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=501&max-results=500

How to use above links? Just paste any of the above link after your blog link say that my blog has below 500 posts so I will use atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500 as http://101helper.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500.

So lets begin follow below steps to submit your blog sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools.

Step 1: Go to Google webmaster tools.

Step 2: Choose your site by clicking it.

Step 3: In the Site Dashboard tab click on sitemaps.

Step 4: Click on Add/Test Sitemap button at the top right corner:

Step 5: Just after your blog url paste the sitemap link shown above, make sure to use the right one otherwise it won't work. If your blog has 500 or below 500 posts then use the first one otherwise use the second one.

Step 6: Click on Submit Sitemap and refresh the page.

It will take an hour or 5 hours or a day to show your site's data. After submitting sitemap just leave it to Google. Once your data is updated you can check stats of your indexed urls and crawl errors. After approval it will look like the sitemap shown in below image:

If your blog has more than 1000 or 2000 posts you can use THIS online tools to create a new sitemap for your blog.

It might be a little lengthy process, but in some cases it is very useful to tap the missing traffic and convert them into real traffic.

Before, I go into detail of this post, my suggestion is to read my post on Bounce rate, and that will give you enough idea about why opening external links in the new tab is important. Now, whenever you link to a site from the post editor, it will give two new options: Add the nofollow attribute and Open in new tab.
If the word, nofollow sounds like a rocket science to you, read my post on why you need to add nofollow tag to a link. Earlier, we used to add nofollow link attribute using HTML, but this new one click link addition will make the task very easier. My suggestion for you is to use nofollow link attribute only when you have to link to irrelevant domains and pages that you don’t trust.

Draw a rough boundary around the image that you want to separate from the background and you will notice that "Smart Scissors" magically snaps the curves to the nearest edge (see screenshot on the right).

Once satisfied with the selection, click "Create Cutout" and you’re done.

You can use this free FotoFlexer service to extract picture of a particular person from some group photograph or you want to merge two photos – cut a portion from the first image using Smart Scissors and place in over the second picture.

The cutouts can be saved as JPGs or a PNG so I guess it maintains the transparency as well. Have fun.

Microsoft hasn't yet closed the door all the way for those in search of a Windows 10 freebie.

You can still get your hands on a no-cost upgrade to Windows 10 by turning to a page for people who use assistive technologies.

Windows 10 had been a free upgrade to Windows 7 and 8.1 users. But that deal ended Friday, at least for most people.

You qualify for the free upgrade if you use assistive technologies, which include such features as a magnifier to better see the screen, a narrator to read text aloud, keyboard shortcuts and an on-screen keyboard. Such tech is "designed to provide additional accessibility to individuals who have physical or cognitive difficulties, impairments, and disabilities," according to Microsoft.

Following the trials and tribulations of Windows 8, Microsoft has been working hard to coax people to jump to Windows 10. The free upgrade offer for users of Windows 7 and 8.1 was a huge part of the company's strategy to push Windows 10. But as of Friday, people must now pay $119 for the Home edition or $199 for the Pro edition -- with the exception of assistive tech users.

Here's how to get the upgrade at no charge:

From your Windows 7 or 8.1 devices, go to the webpage entitled " Windows 10 freeupgrade for customers who use assistive technologies." Click on the Upgrade now button. Run the executable file to install the upgrade.

Microsoft then displays a series of screens that take you step by step through the set-up process. Follow the screens until Windows 10 is comfortably nestled into your device.

At no point during the upgrade does Microsoft ask for proof that you actually use any of the assistive technologies. So the upgrade seems to be accessible to any Windows 7 or 8.1 user who still wants to get Windows 10 for free. Apparently, you can let your conscience be your guide, though Microsoft hopes otherwise.

"As we shared earlier, we've extended the free upgrade offer for those who use assistive technology," a Microsoft spokeswoman told CNET. "That said, it is not intended to be a workaround for people who don't use assistive technology and who missed the deadline for the free offer."

Microsoft has not announced a deadline for the free offer for users of assistive technologies, so those of you who still want Windows 10 should grab the freebie while it lasts.

Organic reach on Facebook is abysmal and getting worse, thanks to the latest announcement from the social network that’s visited by more than a billion users every day.

Facebook will show more funny videos and baby pictures posted by family and friends instead of news and other marketing content from brands, businesses, and publishers.

How bad is organic engagement on Facebook? On average, engagement is somewhere in the neighborhood of less than 1%. Every once in a while, one of your posts might still get tons of organic engagement. But it’s fast becoming mission impossible.

So what’s the solution?

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to mitigate the loss from the latest Facebook newsfeed algorithm. You must raise your organic engagement rates.

Let’s meet your new weapons – the five crazy hacks that will help you do what’s said to be impossible: hack the Facebook newsfeed algorithm.

Note: Some of these hacks involve spending a little bit of money. Others are totally free. All of them are totally worth your time.

1) Preferred audience targeting

What is a content unicorn? Well, content becomes a unicorn when it is clearly among the top 1 to 2% of all of your content. These are your most rare and beautiful pieces of content that attract the most shares, engagement, and views.

A content donkey, on the other hand, doesn’t stand out at all. At most, it’s average. 98% of your content will be donkeys that get average engagement – again, less than 1% is the average organic engagement on Facebook, which is insanely low, right?

To raise your organic engagement rates on Facebook, you need to post fewer, but better updates. You can test out your content organically on Twitter. Here’s how it works.

Post lots of stuff on Twitter – somewhere around 20 tweets per day. But imagine that every tweet has been infected with a virus, one that will ultimately kill them without the antidote within less than 24 hours.

The only cure for these infected tweets? They need to get a significant number of retweets, clicks, likes, and replies.

Examine your top tweets in Twitter Analytics. Those tweets with the most engagement – your top 5 or 10% – have survived!

For example, let’s say I posted the above update only on my wall. The engagement is going to be pretty low. Maybe a few hundred people will see it.

So what happens if I spend just $20 to promote it? In this case, I paid for more than 4,400 impressions (clicks, follows, likes, etc.), but also got more than 1,000 organic engagements for free as a result.

How? Whenever someone shares your promoted post, it results in more people seeing it organically in their newsfeeds and engaging with it.

4) Add engaged followers

Did you know there’s a way you can selectively invite people who have recently engaged with one of your Facebook posts to like your page? This is a valuable but little-known feature available to some (but not all) pages.

You want people who engage with you to become part of your Facebook fan base. You know these people like you and are more likely to engage with your content because they’ve done so in the past.

Here’s how you do it: Click on the names of the people who reacted to your post (liked, loved, etc.). You’ll see three types of buttons (Invite, Liked, Invited). Clicking on that Invite button will send an invitation to people who engaged with one of your Facebook posts to like your business page.

Does it work? Yep. Between 15 to 20% of the people I invite to like my page are doing so.

5) Use video content

The decline of organic reach almost mirrors the rise of video on Facebook.

Users watch more than 8 billion videos every day on the social network. And these videos are generating lots of engagement.

Just look at this recent research from BuzzSumo, which examined the average total number of shares of Facebook videos:

Facebook is doing its best to try to kill YouTube as the top platform for video. If you haven’t yet, now is the time to jump on the bandwagon.

Stop sharing vanilla posts that get little to no engagement. Add some video into your marketing mix! That should help improve your organic engagement because engagement begets engagement.

Facebook organic reach is pretty terrible. That’s why you should start treating your organic Facebook posts more like a paid channel, where you have to pickier and optimize to maximize engagement, in the hopes of getting more earned organic engagement.

When uploading long-form video to YouTube, I always get this warning message:

Your videos will process faster if you encode into a streamable file format.

From what I can gather from around the web, this means that YouTube will try to encode chunks from the video as it is still uploading. This also allows them to spread out this single encode job to multiple machines, optimizing load across their nodes and speeding up the process.

In order to do that, they need to know how the data inside the file is laid out. This information is stored in the moov atom of the video container. When locally encoding the file, this information only becomes available at the end of the encode and is therefore appended at the end of the file.

To move the moov atom to the front of the file, one may use the “Fast Start” option of the encoder. QuickTime and others do this in their GUI, ffmpeg users can use the -movflags faststart option, and one may use the qtfaststart script after encoding.

But: YouTube still gives me the warning with properly formatted files, there is no thumbnail during upload, and processing takes hours. Is there anything else I’m missing?

Moving the moov atom to the front using qtfastart should do it.

There could be a youtube bug.

There could be an issue with [you] doing it wrong.

Stick h.264 + aac in an mpeg 2 transport stream or a mkv file, and try that?

So for now I consider YouTube’s MP4 ingest to be buggy. And indeed, using MKV files or MPEG2 Transport Streams containing H264 + AAC works much faster and yields no warning from YouTube during upload.

Here’s a sample ffmpeg command to losslessly copy streams from an existing MP4 file to MKV. There’s no re-encoding involved and therefore this file “conversion” runs at ~100.000 fps on my Mac.

ffmpeg -i video.mp4 -acodec copy -vcodec copy video.mkv

1. Post a great channel trailer.

As soon as visitors land on your page, you want to hook them. A channel trailer is a great way to do it. You'll want something brief, attention-grabbing and representative of the kind of content you post. Don't tell people what you do — show them.

As the first piece of content some will see, the trailer is also a good place to plant the seed for subscribing. Get a quick line in there asking viewers to hit "subscribe." But do it subtly.

2. Optimize your channel name and description.

Remember that your channel name and description won't just appear on your homepage. Your channel will appear in searches and suggested channel categories across YouTube, so make sure it's appealing. Note that your channel name isn't the same as your URL; you can change the former without affecting the latter.

As you write your channel description, it's good to think about how it will appear across the site and around the web. You'll need a description that highlights your most important content right up front.

3. Pick the right icon.

The key here is to select something that will look good at very small resolutions. It's not like choosing your Facebook or Twitter profile photo; first of all, this is about branding. Your friends don't care that much if your photo is recognizable, or if it's even of you. But in the age of short attention spans, this tiny piece of real estate is your best bet for pulling viewers to your channel page.

4. Make beautiful channel art.

Again, it's important to consider where your content will be seen other than your channel page. Or in this case, how it will be seen. Now, don't get me wrong, iTunes is a good way to buy and organize your music library, but sometimes you just don't want to be locked down like that. So what are the alternatives? You'll probably be surprised, but there's actually more than one way to put music on your iPhone without using iTunes.

Cloud Services

There are some free, big-name cloud services that will let you upload your music collection to play on your iPhone, on or offline, and I'll be covering three of them below before we get to other options.

Google Play Music

Somewhat new to the scene of online music stores is Google Play Music, which allows users to upload up to 20,000 of their own songs for free. With the standard Google Play membership, you can upload your music into the cloud, listen to it on any device, and purchase new music from the Google Play store.

Currently, there's only an official Android app for Google Play Music, but an iPhone version is in the making and should be out very soon. Until then, you can use their web app in your iPhone's web browser to play your tunes.

To upload your music library to Google Play Music, you'll need to download theMusic Manager onto your computer. Getting it on your iPhone is as simple as using the web app player. If you can't wait for more control over your music, like downloading onto the iPhone for offline playing, you can download third-party apps like gMusic ($1.99), GoMusic ($0.99), or Melodies (free).

Also, if you sign up for a trial of All Access (Google's version of Spotify) before June 30, 2013, you'll get one free month and pay $7.99 a month thereafter, instead of the normal $9.99 per month. If you're not much for streaming songs and making custom radio stations, the free version should suffice.

Amazon Cloud Player

If you're not a Google person, Amazon also has a cloud music service that works with your iPhone called Amazon Cloud Player. However, unlike Google's offer for 20,000 songs, Amazon only allows a measly 250 songs from your own music collection to be uploaded to the cloud. After that, you have to pay $24.99 per year for up to 250,000 songs. This does not include MP3s purchased from Amazon, though, which are free to keep in the cloud player.

To upload your music to the cloud, you can use their Cloud Player desktop app. You can download the Amazon Cloud Player for your iPhone in the iOS App Store.

One major drawback is that if you want to purchase any music, you have to visit visit Amazon's website using the Safari web browser. You cannot purchase MP3s via the Cloud Player app. But on Amazon's website, you can browse the ample library of over 20 million songs and albums.

Once imported or downloaded, your songs are immediately uploaded to the Amazon cloud, where they can then be played via the Amazon Cloud Player app, and they work offline as well.

Dropbox

If you store your music collection on Dropbox, you don't need any other apps to play the files. Just go to your Dropbox account and select whatever song you wish to hear. The song will automatically play in the web browser.

You can also leave the browser and open other apps or navigate to anywhere on the device and the music won't stop playing! (I'm looking at you, YouTube.) If you don't want to use your browser, you can download the free Dropbox app and play your music there, too. It's a little smoother than using the browser and also continues playback when you leave the app.

Another nice feature is the ability to "star" songs or groups of songs for offline play. Dropbox is a super easy way to get new songs onto your iPhone and play them anywhere, anytime. If only you could create playlists, I may never need another music player again.

iTunes Alternatives

Don't want to use any of the big services? Here are a few programs you can use in place of iTunes to transfer music from your computer to your iPhone.

CopyTrans Manager for Windows

If you're a Windows user, there's a free program called CopyTrans Manager that can fully replace iTunes and relieves you of some of its common annoyances. The freeware allows for on-the-go edits, drag-and-drop additions to your library, and can be copied to a flash drive for management on multiple PCs

CopyTrans Manager also transfers your iTunes library to its own music player. This is great for people who already have a bunch of music on iTunes and are afraid of losing those songs by using another service

Currently, CopyTrans is only available for computers running Windows 7, XP and Vista, but will probably work in Windows 8, too.

Media Monkey for Windows

Media Monkey is another free media player for Windows computers. Once installed, Media Monkey will scan your computer for audio files and automatically add them to the library. You can also sync your iPhone to Media Monkey and avoid iTunes altogether. The program utilizes add-ons and has a bunch of customizable skins and features.

You can download the free version or opt for the Gold edition, which runs for $24.95. The Gold edition includes a few extras like the automatic library organizer and faster CD burning speeds. If you don't want to buy Gold outright, you can also get a free copy by completing an offer with one of Media Monkey's partners (Apple, Gamefly, GAP).

Media Monkey only recently added compatibility with Apple products, but it's got all the features of iTunes and more. Check their list to see if your device is compatible.

Free Apps (Non-Jailbroken)

Don't want to mess with a computer at all? These apps can help you manage your music directly from your iPhone.

iBolt Downloader & Player

iBolt Downloader & Player looks to rescue you from iTunes by offering an easy way to download songs from the internet and store them on your iPhone.

Once the app is installed you can use the internal browser to find a place that offers free downloads (like last.fm, for example). Just click on the download link and download the song to your phone and the iBolt player.

iBolt lets you create and manage playlists, and you can download songs in the background while running other apps. There's also a pro version available for $0.99, which removes ads and unwanted redirects.

MP3 Music Downloader Free

MP3 Music Downloader is another free app in the iTunes store that gives you the freedom to download MP3s directly onto your iPhone right from the browser.

You can edit song names and add them to playlists, and there are no limits or download restrictions.

You can add songs directly from your iPhone's iTunes library into the player, which is super convenient. The app also comes with a car mode which features a bunch of gesture-based functions. It is add supported, but you can remove ads by buying thepro version for $0.99.

Cydia Tweaks for Jailbroken iPhones

For the bad boys and gals with jailbroken iPhones, here's a nice list of awesomeCydia tweaks that can import music directly onto your device.

Bridge

Bridge is an awesome Cydia application that allows you to import music and videos to your media library right from your phone. No need to plug into a computer or sync with iTunes.

Any media file that you have on your iPhone can be imported into your media library. If friends send you songs via email or if you download some music from Dropbox, you can use Bridge to add them to your iPhone's music library in seconds.

Bridge is available for $1.99 from the BigBoss Repo. It requires iOS 5 or 6 and is compatible with all iDevices.

iFile

iFile is a complete file manager that uses root access to drag and drop files onto your device. You can add any type of file—PDFs, movies, iWork files, and, of course, all your music.

You can also send files via Bluetooth or copy them from your Dropbox account. iFile is a must-have for power users and is $4.00 in the BigBoss Repo.

If you don't want to spend the money, there is an iFile alternative method you can try out.

MewSeek

MewSeek is a file manager and music app that you can find in the Cydia store. With MewSeek you can search, stream, and download music over a Wi-Fi or 3G connection.

What sets this app apart from the others is its ability to add downloaded songs to the internal music library. All the other apps utilize separate libraries for the songs you download, forcing you to go back and forth to add songs and create playlists.

Thanks to this awesome feature, MewSeek is the priciest app on this list at $4.99, but if you plan on using it frequently it's worth it. MewSeek is compatible with iOS 4, 5 and 6.

Streaming

Of course, one of the most convenient ways to "add" music to your phone is via a streaming music player. Pandora, TuneinRadio, Rdio, and Spotify are a few popular music apps that let you stream music on your iPhone.

Just sign up for any of these free services and begin listening to new music instantly. The free versions of most of these applications do come with intermittent ads, but they can be removed with a paid app upgrade or monthly subscription.

And don't forget about YouTube, either. The app and the website are both pretty good for finding new, old, and hard to find music and playing it wherever and whenever you want. You may not be able to store those songs on your iPhone, but you do have access to a seemingly unlimited media library on the go.

What is Google AdSense?

AdSense is one of the most convenient ways to make additional money from your website.

All you do is copy some code into your site to display the ads, and you earn every time someone clicks. You may also earn from impressions in some cases.

All this is derived from a program they call AdWords (pay per click marketing).

You often see these ads displayed above the free/organic results and along the right side of the page on Google.com.

These are called Sponsored Results, and the advertisers are paying a certain amount of money per click for these ads.

AdSense is your revenue share from AdWords ads. When someone clicks, you earn roughly 68% of the click and Google gets the rest.

AdSense is an auction-based system that allows advertisers to compete for those spots. Whomever has the highest bid and most "quality" ad, gets the top spot and so forth.

It's a great program that can help drive additional income to your website, and it's really best for websites that are mainly content driven.

The more content you have, the more Google can get a sense for what your site is about and better match the ads to your website.

Please make sure you read this entire article. AdSense is not a get-rich-quick scheme and it takes a lot of work to make money. Don't think that just because you join, you are guaranteed to make big money.

How Much Can You Earn With AdSense?

The commission you receive per click depends on how much advertisers are paying Google for the particular ad. You will earn a share of that amount. I've heard of earnings anywhere from 2 cents to $15 per click.

Getting over $1 is probably very rare, although it does happen from time to time. However, you will find that most of your earnings will be on the lower end of the spectrum.

It's important to note that I cannot estimate how much you will earn based on your traffic. People always want to know what the average amount is per click.

No one knows the answer to this except Google, so don't let anyone try to tell you any different. It would be impossible for myself or any AdSense publisher to give this information because the ads all cost different prices and we have no idea what advertisers are paying.

However, there are some niches that obviously pay more. So it is logical to believe that keyword phrases like sex, make money, etc. may earn you more per click since these are highly competitive keywords that are searched for quite a bit on.

The more competitive the search term, the more the advertisers pay and the more you earn as a publisher.

Even though Google will not reveal how much you are earning for each ad that is clicked from your site, you can still login to your account at any time and see the total amount of revenue you've generated that day, week, month, year, etc.

For example, if you see that you've made $12.60 today from 9 clicks then you can calculate that your average click-thru commission was $1.40 per click. That's as detailed as their stats will get. Also remember, that's only an average. You won't know how much each specific ad brought in.

The amount you'll earn also depends largely on the amount of targeted traffic you receive to your own site, how well the ads match your audience's interests, the placement of the ads on your pages, and of course the amount you receive per click.

Ideally, you should create a site on a topic you know a lot about. That way you'll have a much easier time creating a generous amount of content on that subject.

Creating Your Website for AdSense

Before you even begin your site, make sure you've come up with a topic that you feel you know plenty about. That way it will be easiest to write a lot of content.

The more content you have, the better chance you have getting accepted into the program. Also, the more content and traffic, the greater the earning potential.

If you want to make a lot of money, prepare to write a lot of content and learn how to market your site. Don't expect to throw up a 10 page site and make $1,000 per month. That's unrealistic.

Now let's talk about building your website.

Creating Your Site :

Get a domain (yoursite.com) and then sign up for a web host and build your pages. I highly recommend using WordPress to create your site because you just pick a theme and your site is up and running.

Once you have selected your theme, you can add AdSense ads by either using a free AdSense plugin or you can use the WordPress Text widget to easily add ads to your sidebar.

Each year along comes a new recruitment drive, for people to take up courses and enrol in universities and colleges around the world. However with the ever spiralling costs of traditional learning institutions the question that many people are now asking is ‘is there a better way to acquire skills?’ A way that is not just more cost effective but practical as well.

Online training courses are on the increase, with the total market for global e-learning estimated at $107 billion.

The top three countries that are seeing the biggest growth in e-learning take ups are India, China and Malaysia illustrating how e-learning platforms really do now have a global reach.

This article focuses on an e-learning programme on digital marketing skills, through an online university called Wealthy Affiliate. I have mentioned their name before in association with web hosting for this site, but as an organisation they are also pushing into the education arena as well, so I was interested to know what exactly can you learn here and what are the advantages and disadvantages over a traditional university course.

Wealthy Affiliate University

Traditional university courses have really tried to meet the demands of their working students by providing module based courses, and home based learning programmes that students can access from all over the globe. But even these programmes have a limit to there flexibility, for example the following comparison is based on generic requirements across different advertised courses.

Traditional online course

Most traditional courses are still overseen by a tutor who manages assignments and provides feedback on the training. In order for this to work effectively most universities and colleges online have developed a standardised system which consists of the following.

There has to be a specific start date and end date to the module.
A certain number of participants are required in order to enable classroom chat situations.
Assignments have to be submitted within set timescales.
The work is often based on simulated projects, not real life businesses.
Costs are usually paid up front for the whole module.

Now image a situation where there was complete flexibility in learning. A university programme that worked with you and your business, rather than you trying to complete a set programme regardless of your own ability and current situation.

Wealthy Affiliate University courses

Anyone can start at any time there is an automated lesson system that logs tasks and records which classroom you are part of.
You work completely at your own pace but you can access peer support from people at your level and also with 3-4 years experience or even longer.
There are no assignments but you work on tasks
The tasks are on your own real business web site and blog
Costs can be paid monthly and for as long as you wish to partake in the university training.

So What Can I Expect when I Join?

Wealthy affiliate is a practical learning course and is designed for people who are looking to set up their own website or online business. The course is designed to take you through the process and you are expected to implement everything learnt onto your own site. There are no assessments to be completed, instead you work at your own pace and slowly build up your own site following the tutorials provided. The walk through tutorials follow the progress of setting up an affiliate marketing site from scratch.

Feedback and comments on your site can be provided by the general community at WA, through specific forums if you so request. You can also view many of the sites of other and more established members to see how they are developed.

Most of the members of the university are seeking to make money from their websites and so a significant proportion of the course is geared towards creating quality content, and understanding how to get traffic to your site. However other people have also developed hobby sites with an aim to network and meet others with a similar interest.

The WA Programme Content

The main affiliate marketing course is comprised of five levels, each level containing 10 sessions of learning broken down further into tasks.

For example the first level (1) is a foundation or introduction level and consists of the following 10 lessons or modules. At the end of this module you will have built your own website and started to create content, linked to keywords and have a basic understanding of SEO.

For example, Google’s Disavowal Tool has been released in 2012 and was not in use before that year. The Most Overrated Marketing Tactic According to Hubspot

Marketing is one of the most challenging aspects of business growth, so ensuring you are using the most effective and efficient tactics is vital.

Hubspot are one of the leading experts (and creators) of the term Inbound Marketing. For the last 7 years they have undertaken a global survey to find out exactly what is and isn’t working in the world of inbound marketing.

The 2015 full report is available for download, however if reading 70 pages isn’t really in your time schedule for today, here are some of the key facts (that I took) from the latest report.

Inbound Marketing

Inbound marketing is a term used to describe the creation, promotion and curation of content in order to attract new customers and retain the interest of existing customers.

It is often viewed as the opposite of outbound marketing, which is the use of outward marketing strategies such as TV adverts, billboard and magazine advertising.

Are COntent Marketing and Inbound Marketing the Same?

The term content marketing has expanded in its use for many people. It now includes using digital marketing and promoting content through various approaches.

In its simplest definition inbound marketing is a clearer term that separates content marketing as the production and creation of content, from the other digital marketing and promotion methods.

Hubspot Annual Inbound Reports

The latest survey (2015) received nearly 4,000 responses from across all the continents. The sizes of businesses that replied varied, ranging from smaller businesses with fewer than 5 employees through to larger corporations with over 1,00 employees.

Annual incomes also varied between those earning less than $250,000 through to companies that were making over a $billion.

Purpose of the report

The annual reports provide a comparison from year to year to see where trends are moving. Unfortunately it does’t compare across all seven years, but it does give valuable indicators between 2014 and 2015. This is important to show how things have changed in the business marketing world over the last 12 months and what future trends are emerging.

The Most Overrated Marketing Tactic in 2015

The Hubspot report showed that an outbound marketing strategy such as using paid advertising was the least effective marketing strategy.

This perhaps isn’t a great surprise however the top four overrated tactics did show some interesting things.

Red – inbound strategies Grey – Outbound strategies

In particular there was a high level of dissatisfaction at using social media and PPC campaigns for both inbound and outbound marketing strategies. This could be due to the increase in ad blocker software that many of the online companies and individuals are now using.

Content is King and Inbound is Best

These findings are possibly to be expected since Hubspot and its partner agencies all advocate inbound marketing approaches. Still if the system wasn’t working these businesses would be naming it.

Many of the larger corporations were using both inbound and outbound strategies and with plenty of money to spend on advertising, they were under no obligation to retain content writers and an inbound strategy as well.

And yet they did, citing that many of the traditional outbound strategies such as PPC campaigns and email marketing were less effective than blogging and content creation approaches.

Who Creates the Content?

One interesting fact that affects freelance writers, is the increased use of external content writers to meet inbound demands.

As the graph shows staff write the majority of the content at just under 50%, whilst executives, guests, freelance writers and partners account for the rest.

This could be an indication that content is now seen as a vital component in the overall business marketing approach.

The Link Between Proving ROI and Increasing Your Budget

For those using inbound marketing strategies in a company or business, then the single biggest challenge that was cited was trying to prove the return on investment (ROI) of the inbound marketing approach.

In the survey there was a clear link shown between those companies that could prove their ROI and those that had managed to see an increase in budget for inbound marketing purposes.

If ROI isn’t being measured then …
- You can’t prove value
- You are less likely to secure a budget

Companies were 3X more likely to see a higher return on investment 
for inbound marketing rather than outbound marketing approaches

This also highlights again that content writers need to have a strong focus on analytics. So that they are clear what content is converting well, and to be able to prove this to others in the company.

Sales Priorities For Companies

Inbound marketing is ultimately about producing sales and this is perhaps reflected in the main sales priorities that the survey results showed.

The main problems are still focused on increasing sales efficiency through improving technology and reducing the length of the sales cycle.

The problem here is that content marketing by its very nature can have a long sales cycle. One of the advantages of the method though is that the process should be quicker for existing customers, who have been kept updated of new products and technology as it emerged.

Key Points from the Hubspot 2015 Survey

The survey report considered a number of other areas in more depth, but the key points that I took from the findings were;

Smaller businesses and companies tend to rely more heavily on inbound strategies compared to larger companies.
The top two priorities for all companies were being able to generate more leads and convert potential leads to customers.
The biggest challenge was proving the ROI on inbound marketing.
The use of external content writers including freelancers increased between 2014-2015
Improving the efficiency of the overall sales funnel is still a top priority.

Reports such as this can help to support all content marketers even if your company didn’t participate in this survey. The trend is showing that inbound marketing strategies do work if the resources and skills are given over to it, and this message can be useful for anyone seeking to convince their own company to give it a go.
