After all, spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars on a trip is typically a rare experience. For people who live in largely cold weather climates, the Caribbean serves as an ideal tourist spot to soak up the sun.

For those people who don’t have a passport and are not keen to travel internationally, a visit toSeacrest Beach, Florida, will do just fine for some fun in the sun. International travelers would be wise to head straight to Montego Bay, Jamaica, however, for a great vacation deal at a fabulous resort. Their all-inclusive resort deals make for a great vacation or an ideal destination for a quick wedding and honeymoon all wrapped into one experience.

There are many reasons Montego Bay is a great vacation spot. First of all, Jamaica is home to some of the friendliest people in the entire world. The staff will foster communication with other resort patrons as well as help you with food, drink, or anything you might need. A couple of the restaurants need a call ahead but there is always something open with food available forpatrons.

Buses are available to take you into town or to nearby adventures. For example, there is a popular zip line tour that the resort sponsors and provides a bus and driver to the site. In the same part of town , you can also choose to take an inner tube down the river and take in the sights while you drift the current for three miles. These are just some of the reasons that Montego Bay, Jamaica, is an ideal tourist spot.

Source: http://www.17may07.org/

Joke Of The Week - Time Management

She just could not wake up on time. Her boss said she would fire her if it did not stop. Sarah decided to seek the advice of her doctor. He prescribed her some medication and told her to take one pill before going to sleep. She did and she woke up before the alarm clock sounded and headed into work feeling well rested. Sarah told her boss about the doctor’s prescription and how well it worked. Her boss said, “That is great, Sarah, but where were you yesterday?”

To my surprise, I haven't accomplished a lot.

I resolved to myself that I will do things that will contribute to the benefit of mankind and to myself!

I studied very hard and learned a lot of lessons from my experience. I lacked self-confidence before, so I want to help other people overcome this predicament.

I urge YOU now to make the most use of your time! Don't just sit around and be contented with the monotonous patterns of your daily activities.

Do something nice and give all your best to the fulfillment of a worthwhile endeavor. It will give you a very deep sense of happiness and satisfaction.

Some people complain that they don't have enough time to take action on their goals. They have to go to their 9 to 5 job, then - when they come home they feel so tired, all they can think about is watch TV, eat and sleep.

I'm not saying that leisure is a no-no. In fact, everyone should take time out once in a while to recharge and revitalize their energy. The key is to have a balanced life. Set aside a fraction of your time to carry out your dreams and ambitions. Reserve some time to establish healthy relationships.

Ok, I hear you: you're saying that you really just can't budget your time?

Don't panic. Here are some time management tips.

1) If possible, do more than one thing at the same time.

Exercise while watching your favorite TV show. Listen to educational tapes while waiting for the bus.

Be forewarned! Never do this if it puts you at risk or in danger; for example, don't text while driving.

Get More Done – The Keys to Better Prioritization

If you have too many A’s and too little time, by definition, you are in a state of over-commitment.

Whose priority is it?
In order to prioritize, you need to be clear about whosepriorities you are trying to meet. Very few of us are in a position to consider only our own priorities. We must take into account the priorities of those we work for, those we work with, and those we live with. Your difficulty in prioritizing may actually be a hidden struggle between what you want to do and what others want you to do.

Prioritizing by Crisis
If you don’t plan and prioritize your tasks, you’ll tend to fall into a pattern of prioritizing by crisis – that is, waiting to do things until a deadline looms or a crisis is about to occur. There are many problems with this sort of prioritizing. First, you won’t do your best work when you’re always in a time crunch; second, tasks that are very important, but never in crisis - may never get done.

The Best Android Apps for Getting Things Done

That's why it makes such a good fit on Android. It offers smart notifications, syncs itself quietly in the background, and offers handy widgets that can show any particular list or search you've got saved. The app itself is free, but beyond the 15-day free trial, you'll need to shell out for a more spendy $25/year (roughly $2/month) subscription to Remember the Milk's service. Do you have effective time management skills?

Recently, I was talking to a friend who described his excavation business as a ‘time-hungry beast’. It sits by his side all day, every day, at night and on weekends with its gaping mouth drooling for time and attention. But I realised “That’s life.”

Wherever you turn there’s family, friends, customers, television, kids, telemarketers, books, chores, telephones, advertisements, daydreams, meetings, Gordon Ramsay and exercise all wailing at you for a piece of your time.

Some of these distractions are welcome, while others are life-sucking. But they’re all hungry and determined to chew up your time. No matter how hard you work or how productive you are, you cannot satisfy them all.

I’m a sucker for those smash-hit business books that seem to be multiplying every day. Two that I’ve really enjoyed are Eat That Frog by Brian Tracy (see How to stop procrastination) and The 4-Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss.

“ It’s about consciously prioritising time and deciding who and what gets your attention, rather than just tending to the squeakiest wheel on your to-do list. ”

Both books are full of interesting ideas on effective time management, but the main thing I took from them was the importance of being ruthless about how you spend your precious time.

They stress the importance of knowing your top priorities and making sure you focus on them. This is not about being a selfish, driven workaholic. It’s about consciously prioritising time and deciding who and what gets your attention, rather than just tending to the squeakiest wheel on your to-do list.

How Productive Are You?

Pretty soon, this approach becomes a way of life, leading to high levels of stress and eventually, poor productivity.

Productivity is a measure of how much you accomplish – not how busy you are. So it's far better to learn how to work intelligently, and to use leverage to achieve more with your time and resources. This will increase your productivity – and help you find extra time to do other things.

Develop Time Management Skills

Often times players will need to find an effective way to balance school, family, and softball (and in some cases, even more than that). With the help of the adults in their lives, they will have the opportunity to formulate a plan which enables them to efficiently handle responsibilities while still leaving time for development in other areas such as athletics.

Learn About Dealing with Adversity

As you and I both know, everyone makes mistakes. Everyone has problems. How well you handle these mistakes and problems directly affects your level of happieness and quality of life. Many people “get in a slump” and can’t get out of it. Others continue making the same mistakes over and over again. In softball, we always try to minimize errors, but we’re human. Mistakes happen. Even professional players make bad choices and make bad plays, but, ultimately, it’s not the mistake that counts. What you do from that point forward carries far more significance. If young ladies learn how to deal with adversity, errors, and challenges when they happen on the field, chances are, they’ll be able to translate that skill to real life and effectively minimize mistakes and/or bad decisions as well as competently recover from set backs.

Cascading Next Actions (Getting Things Done)

What is GTD?

Next Actions are a concept from Getting Things Done, which is perhaps the finest book on personal productivity ever written.

Basically, the Next Actions concept says that if you have an abstract item on your to-do list (replace tires on car), you'll never do it because every time you look at it, you'll glaze the in-between steps. But you do have to think about what to do in order to do it. So why not think about it now? By thinking about it now and writing it down as a Next Action (the Next Action I can take to bring this project to completion), I can do that Next Action automatically the next time I see it instead of glazing over some nebulous far-in-the-future to-do. (Call tire shop for prices.)

With a to-do list you have to make a decision on the next action for each item each time you look at it. With a Next Actions list, you have that decision made and you just have to choose which Next Action to do now.

When I was in high school, my English teacher (among other teachers) told me that I should take my term paper and break it up into smaller steps. That worked in theory, but I never did it that way. Breaking it up into smaller steps is still work, and it's still a big project, even if it is in smaller steps. It's just as intimidating.

But by focusing on only the next action rather than all the actions, it's not nearly as intimidating. You don't need a complete roadmap. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step and you only need to know what the very next one is.

Effective Time Management for Smart People

Managing our time effectively and to the utmost, affects all of us both consciously (we need to be aware of how to make the most of it) as well as in a very unconscious manner which means we’re unaware of the ineffectiveness of our efforts leaving us feeling frustrated, angry, concerned or anxious without knowing the reason why.

We have become confused about what effective time management really takes and means and we believe that if we are busy or kept busy all day long that we have achieved much and we deserve to be remunerated and rewarded for all that effort.

Sadly our enormous input does not equal the output and it hardly ever achieves the desired results.

Effective Time Management requires planning, effort, action and follow-ups in order for us to become more productive, effective and efficient.

PART 1: PLANNING. It’s all in the planning…

Here are some pointers to be aware of when you plan your week or at the very least, plan your next day.

Begin by planning everything you need to eat, do and complete in a specific space or time frame in order for your day to proceed ahead seamlessly.

Why? If you plan ahead, you will have spare time on your hands to take a break, do something you enjoy or catch up on something incomplete or make contingencies for unplanned emergencies.

How to Schedule Your Day According to Your Priorities and Get Things Done

A fairly easy way to stop this negative pattern is to simply come up with a plan for each day based on personal priorities.

The very first step is to figure out what your priorities are. Take some time with a pen and paper and think about what your priorities and goals are on a daily basis. Now don't go crazy with a long detailed list, keep it simple. For example, I wanted to put first things first as a stay-at-home mom and that meant spending time on my spiritual life first because it feeds the most important part of me, my spirit. After that, taking care of my body is next because without its health, I will not be able to take care of the rest of my priorities, simple right? After that, it was important to me to see my husband off to work every morning, and spend time with him before all the kiddos began to emerge for the day. So far, I had my top 3 priorities: Spiritual, Self-care, & Spouse.

Stop Procrastinating – Get Things Done

Freelancers have the ability to work whenever they want, but sometimes this can work against them. People are generally lazy (unless you’re some superhuman with incredible powers to go on forever) and so you need a system in place to help you along the way to get things done. Some people find creating a to-do list helps, whilst others simply break up their work into small chunks in order to make it easier on themselves.

I’m going to go through a system which you can use in order to make yourself more productive, and stop yourself from procrastination.

OK, let’s say that you have 3 web designs to do for multiple clients – rather than working through them one by one, going through the design process and then the coding process – instead you can simply do all related tasks together. So, in this case, you would do all 3 designs together on Photoshop, so that you do them when you’re in that design-mood. Then, you can move onto coding the designs altogether after. This should help you become more productive overall.

There are a couple other methods you can use in order to become more productive and get out of a phase of procrastination.

If you’re finding it really hard to get started on some work, or just end up scraping every design idea in Photoshop, then you need inspiration. For example, if you’re a web designer, a good idea would be to visit websites such as CSSRemix; look at some of the well-designed sites there. This usually inspired me personally, and then I proceed to create something in Photoshop. Be careful not to visit these websites just to copy designs though, that is not good practise as you’re not developing your skills well when doing this.

If you’re a freelance writer, you can try reading a few pages of your favourite novel in order to get your creative juices going again, or maybe head down to your favourite blog and read a post or two. Both writing and design are creative processes, and therefore need inspiration and enthusiasm from the creator in order to produce high quality work.

More..

How to Get Things Done

Hundreds of thousands of people throughout the country are wondering how I have time to do all my painting, engineering, writing and philanthropic work when, according to the rotogravure sections and society notes, I spend all my time riding to hounds, going to fancy-dress balls disguised as Louis XIV, or spelling out GREETINGS TO CALIFORNIA in formation with three thousand Los Angeles school children. "All work and all play," they say.

The secret of my incredible energy and efficiency in getting work done is a simple one. I have based it very deliberately on a well-known psychological principle and have refined it so that it is now almost too refined. I shall have to begin coarsening it up again pretty soon. The psychological principle is this: anyone can do any amount of work, provided it isn't the work he is supposed to be doing at that moment. Let us see how this works out in practice. Let us say that I have five things which have to be done before the end of the week: (1) a basketful of letters to be answered, some of them dating from October, 1928 (2) some bookshelves to be put up and arranged with books (3) a hair-cut to get (4) a pile of scientific magazines to go through and clip (I am collecting all references to tropical fish that I can find, with the idea of someday buying myself one) and (5) an article to write for this paper.

Now. With these five tasks staring me in the face on Monday morning, it is little wonder that I go right back to bed as soon as I have had breakfast, in order to store up health and strength for the almost superhuman expenditure of energy that is to come. Mens sana in corpore sano is my motto.

5 Categories For Effective Time Management

They religiously keep track of everything they do each day, for weeks or even months.

And then they stop doing it because they haven’t realized any positive changes.

But keeping track of how you spend your time isn’t time management. Time management is about making changes to the way you spend your time. For effective time management, you have to apply a time management system that will help you see where changes can and should be made.

Keeping track of your many daily activities is just a preliminary step to effective time management. The first step of time management is to analyze how you actually spend your time so you can determine what changes you want to make.

This is where many people’s attempts at time management fail. They look at a specific day in their Day-Timer or Outlook calendar or on their Palm which is packed with activities from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and don’t know what to do with it. So they fall back on the tried and true techniques and eliminate a few events and prioritize others. But they haven’t really managed anything; they’ve just rearranged it. All the perceived problems and frustrations of the day’s activities are still there – and at the end of their day they’re still frazzled and frustrated.

Manage Your Time With Time Management Categories

How do you actually manage time? The secret is in the categories. Look at your calendar for tomorrow. It’s probably already full of events and activities that you’re hoping to accomplish. As you work or afterward, you’ll be filling in the blank spaces.

VISIT OUR WEBSITE

Get Your Time and Your Life Back Under Control

If you’re willing to make some adjustments, things can change. You’ll have to practice better self-management.

Improving self-management involves a process. It’s not complicated, but it’s not going to happen overnight. It requires you to stop digging yourself into a hole and figuring out a better way to get things done.

1. Purge and organize everything around you. If you don’t love it, need it, or use it, get rid of it…from your clothes closet to your mind to your computer. Give everything that’s left a home, putting like items together.

2. Set goals. You’ve talked a lot about what you need to do. You’ve claimed that you’ve tried and tried to do this or that. Take “try” out of your vocabulary and take the steps to do what you need to do. Once you set goals for yourself, you’ll be very clear on what you should spend your time doing. You’ll turn off the TV, and start spending your time on things that will help you go to the next level.

3. Make lists. Now that you’ve gotten organized and can think, and you’ve set goals so you know what you should spend your time doing, write down everything you need and want to do (at work, then at home). I mean everything. Now look at the list and batch similar or related work together. If it’s something you can do quickly, say two minutes or less, go ahead.

VISIT OUR WEBSITE

Time Management Tips for Moms

Between kids’ activities, household responsibilities and, for many, the demands of a stressful workplace, many mothers have given up on the fight to find time for themselves and are just trying to get everything done. The following time management tips can be used by busy moms everywhere to take some of the stress out of life, and create more time for fun times with children, quality time with their partner, or even that coveted and nearly forgotten alone time.

Be Organized

It’s been said that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and nowhere is this adage more applicable than when discussing time management tips for moms. Simply being organized can eliminate stress from forgotten appointments, double-booking, lost homework, and many other stress traps that busy moms face. What does it mean for a mom to ‘be organized,’ and to what extent is this even possible? If you focus on a few key areas of organization, a little work can go a long way. In a nutshell, being organized with your schedule, with your house and with your discipline strategy is one of the best time management tips I can give you. See this article for more on getting organized.

Delegate!

Yes, when they come to us, they are so sweet and helpless, we end up doing everything for them, and these habits are difficult to break. But then we have their children, and realize that it’s impossible for one person to do it all.

VISIT OUR WEBSITE

Too Much To Do - I Never Get Everything Done

He continued, “I never get everything done!”

After listening to his situation for twenty more minutes, Bill flooded me
with questions: “Is my problem unique? Is this a situation I must live
with for life? Is this situation chronic to my job? Can you do anything to
help me?”

The first thing I shared with Bill was that 95 to 99% of the professionals
I have met working with 140 Fortune 500 companies related to his anxiety. Bill is not alone. I agreed to help Bill if he would be willing to spend just five minutes a day faithfully using two simple proven tools to solve his frustration. He agreed. Here is what I told him.

Bill’s Problem – Rooted in His Excellence

I first asked Bill to accept the fact that on any day he has the ability
to think up more to do than he can possibly do.

Four things limit what he can accomplish: his time, talent, resources and energy. Only his talent limits what he can think up. With hesitation, Bill agreed that part of his problem was rooted in his talent. We moved to the way he planned his day.

Two Huge Mistakes:
* Using an ordinary to-do list
* Not guestimating how long things take and adjusting accordingly

A To-Do List Helps But Frustrates

Bill shared how a consultant encouraged him to use a to-do list.

Religiously, as Bill thought of things to do, he would write them on that to-do list. He would work hard to get it all done. At the end of the day, he equally religiously checked off all he had accomplished. He showed me yesterday’s to-do list.

“I started the day with thirty things. I came in early, skipped lunch and worked late. During the day I added four things. At the end of the day I checked off the three things I got done. As I walked to the car, what do
you think I was thinking of? The three I got done or the thirty-one items still on my list. After working hard and extra time, how do you think I felt that my to-do list was longer at the end of the day that when I began? I felt miserable,” Bill blurted out.

“Bill,” I replied, “You are experiencing to-do-list frustration, lovingly called TODLIF. Let me show you a way to overcome to-do-list frustration immediately and forever.”

5 Useful To-Do List Apps For The iPhone

However it has two things that other apps don’t have: a backend sync with Zenbe and the ability to share your list with others. You can easily create a list for a collaboration project with your co-workers, sync it with your Zenbe account and email the share link to your partners. You can allocate your tasks under different subjects and assign different colors for each subject. You can also create smart groups to manage tasks that are due today, or to select different subjects altogether. When creating a task, other than the standard priority, due dates and notes fields, you can also add steps required for each task, and if necessary, add team members to the tasks. If you are looking for a to-do list app that has a nice UI and focuses on task organization, then iProcrastinate Mobile is the one for you.

MORE HERE!!

Getting Things Done - Single Mum

Not because I am a power hungry, neat freak over bearing mother, but because it will ultimately help me. Bear in mind though that every child, parent and situation is unique so these are just ideas that I have found to work or are working. However, it has become increasingly apparent that multi-tasking is not quite what it was once thought to be. In order to multitask, time and attention are, in fact, neglected as the delicate resources they are.

purple 1007 by Hugh MacLeod

Thankfully, the concept of multitasking as a myth has beengaining momentum. The author, Crenshaw, notes that one does not really do several things at one time. Rather, each task is given its own attention and that this attention is shifted frequently. Each shift requires a re-tooling of sorts. It is this re-tooling that is often ignored. Rather than considering doing several things as multitasking, it is instead called “switch-tasking”.

I would suggest that an additional consideration be added: as one repeatedly changes focus, the capacity for attention is actually damaged.

One invites a scattered state of mind that reacts to the environment without active thought or consideration for the overall scheme of work and play. One comes to rely on the environment for stimulation and reacts to it. When it is not apparent what to do next, a person jumps to email, their messages, a favorite social networking site, or whatever browser window happens to be open for guidance as to what to do next. Then, as something else comes to mind, that takes precedence, something else is dropped, and the breaks in attention are perpetuated.

Twitter for Business Guide

What you mightn't know is that I, Wayne Mansfield, am currently acknowledged as the 4th most effective user of Twitter in the world. (Number 1 is FoxNews Network...)

Consequently, I have quickly become recognised as THE expert on how to make Twitter work for business. I'm able to demonstrate in my Twitter for Business Seminars how to create immediate business responses from using Twitter correctly.

Paul Dunn - successful businessman, philanthropist and Chairman of the B1G1 Foundation, Singapore - recently wrote that I have been acknowledged as the 4th most connected and active user of Twitter

I have a network reaching more than 23 million people across Twitter , Facebook and LinkedIn.
