A new support site for Schapelle Corby has been setup. It is called The Schapelle Corby Network and is located at http://schapelle.ning.com/ . Everyone is welcome to create an account, setup their own blog, post on the community blog, upload videos or photos, chat or listen to musiic. We are in the business of bringing people together who believe Schapelle has been served a raw deal so they can spread the word.
You can bring in your Facebook, Gmail, Yahoo and Twitter accounts and friends from those sites.

We'll be adding a CafePress shop soon and will be asking for graphics to use on the products. I'll post the size required later. An open letter to the editor of the Herald Sun.

It would appear that certain items of 'news' get printed without asceretaining the facts. The item that appeared in your newspaper dated 17th May gives the impression that the Corby's are living the high life when in fact, the younger sister, Schapelle, is languishing in a 3rd world jail while the other is living and working in Bali to support her sister with food and clean water and other essentials. Unlike Australia, in Bali you have to pay for your accommodation and food in jail, unless you want to die from any of the diseases brought on by unhygenic handling and surroundings. Schapelle Corby's life is a living hell with sheer boredom brought about through no exercise facilities, no library, no tv, no mental stimulation and no rehabilitation systems in place.

Stories like yours, are creating an urban myth that does not stand up to scrutiny. Many Australians that I speak to are saying that "Enough is enough. She has paid the price. It is time for our government to bring her home." Internationally, people are writing to their newspapers and parliamentarians asking why the Australlian government does nothing for its citizens jailed in foreign countries by courts that refuse to admit evidence or use dodgy evidence. Why the Australian Government did not stand by their signed agreement with Indonesia to get a sample of marijuana for testing for place of origin. There are many unanswered questions regarding the close AFP involvement with the Indonesian police, yet at no stage did they ask for a sample as required under this treaty. Schapelle Corby wrote to the Australian Consul who advised her that the Bali police refused to provide the AFP with a sample for testing. Why did the AFP not insist on getting a sample? Why was the evidence destroyed before her appeals were heard?

The truth is slowly emerging to the extent that the Australian media has been manipulated by the Australian government, past and present. As you are well aware, freedom of the press is a thing of the past when certain items have to be given approval by the PM's department before distribution.

By toeing the line, media such as yourselves are creating a situation where news reporters and media owners are being placed in the same category as dodgy used car salesmen. The pride that used to be exhibited by reporters is slowly being replaced by apathy as more and more 'news' is syndicated and used without further investigation to seek out the truth. Because of this, reporters are leaving the industry in droves.

It is time for you to start saying 'Enough is enough' and stand up for fair and honest reporting by your staff. It is time for editors to stand up to the media moguls and say 'Enough is enough, we want to be able to seek out and tell the truth'.

Our record in matters of Australians exposed to the brutality of Indonesia's justice system really is alarming.For starters, we refuse to deport non-Australians who may be executed for their crime in their own country, yet our Federal Police were instrumental in having the Bali Nine arrested in Indonesia where the same police knew they faced the very real prospect of execution.

The model Michelle Leslie created a furore in Australia when she swapped skimpy clothes for a hijab to claim Muslim status and a lenient sentence for drug use in Bali. It was an issue that she had offended Muslims in Australia, not that her claim to be a Muslim appeared improperly to have won her leniency from both the prosecutor and the judge.

And now, as I write in my column in The Herald, we have Australian Commonwealth prosecutors winning orders in Australian courts to confiscate royalties for a book written by Schapelle Corby. They've seized $128,000 and have just been denied by Indonesian courts access to a further $280,000.Our prosecutors sought this confiscation despite the fact that Ms Corby was not given a fair trial in Indonesia and that by any measure was convicted by a system that is corrupt and otherwise unacceptable in Australia.

The court granted the application for confiscation despite the Proceeds of Crime law allowing the courts to take into account any matters it saw fit.Under Indonesia's justice system the onus was on Ms Corby to prove that she was innocent, that she knew nothing of the marijuana in her boogie board bag. She was presumed to be guilty until she proved her innocence. The chief judge in her trial declared his hand when he boasted during the trial that in 500 cases involving drugs he had never acquitted anyone. That alone marks the trial as unfair.

There were many other issues that would have in Australia thrown the prosecution case into reasonable doubt. And not even the shocking revelations since of drug smuggling among some Australian airport baggage handlers has won any support from our government and authorities for a fair trial for Ms Corby.

This is not a question of whether you or I think Ms Corby is guilty. That is entirely irrelevant. It is not even a question of whether she received a fair trial - that is beyond question.It is a question of whether our Proceeds of Crime legislation should apply to Australians who have not been found by Australia's measure to have committed a crime.

Corby myths busted
In the U.S.A. the movie Ganja Queen has showed an outpouring of emotion directed towards Schapelle Corby who languishes in a cramped jail cell with other women in Bali.

It is no holiday camp even thought the Fairfax and Murdoch would have us believe otherwise. Over the last few years, supporters have come to realise that her jailing had nothing to do with justice but keeping face.

The three judges at her trial had never let off anyone charged with a drug offence.

They burned the hard evidence before it could be tested for point of origin.

They refused her requests (written and supported by the Australian Consuls office documents) to have the marijuana tested.

They refused to have the bag fingerprinted to look for Corby's prints.

They refused to weigh the bag to compare with the weight in Brisbane.

They in this case refer to the Bali police and the prosecution.

The questions remain.
Did she get a fair trial?
Did she really do it?
How do you justify 20 years, when in Australia it would have meant a slap on the wrist in some states?

One of Australia's Top Social Justice Ambassadors, Kay Danes, has been officially invited to attend the 61st Annual conference on World Affairs [CWA] held in Colorado from April 5 - 10, 2009.The event attracts audiences of more than 75,000, from students, to faculty, staff, alumni, townsfolk, journalists, film producers, editors of major newspapers and media outlets, policy makers, and visitors from around the Nation. In another sign of growing international concern regarding the Schapelle Corby case, and the lack of support from the both the Australian government and media, indie-pop singer/songwriter Tara Hack has today released a track dedicated to the incarcerated 31 year old.

Promoted under the 'Artists for Schapelle' initiative, which is being run by the UK based web portal Schapelle.Net, the song is titled "Saya Tidak Bersalah, I'm Not Guilty". These were Schapelle Corby's last words prior to being sentenced in March 2005.

Rachel James, of Schapelle.Net states: "This is a remarkable track, from a hugely talented emerging artist. It is a beautiful song, full of passion and insight, and delivers the message in such a moving way". She continues: "Sometimes music speaks to people in a way that words simply cannot, and can cut straight through media smear. The 'Artists for Schapelle' initiative provides a platform for all genre's of music: for artists who wish to oppose this injustice and cruelty and add their support".

Presumption of Innocence

The Corby Saga continues with new and fresh allegations from drug addicts being paid for stories, virtually every week. The media has made a circus out of something that should have been out in the open. I am not talking about guilt or innocence here but police procedure in Bali and the kangaroo court process.

Remember the trial, watching it with horror on the tele?

Would you like to go before a court where despite your requests, you were not allowed to have the evidence tested for point of origin or for your DNA caught up in the resin?

Remember the judges handling the bag of marijuana despite the defendants request to have it fingerprinted.

Remember the customs officers refusing to weigh the baggage to compare against the departure weight?

All of these requests were refused. Why?

Presumption of innocence until proven guilty was thrown out the window with the prosecution demanding that the defendant prove where the drugs came from. An impossible situation.

So why is the media circulating trash about the Corby family instead of looking at the facts surrounding the trial of one person.

Gold Coast Bulletin Journalist, Tony Wilson, was dismissed today [Friday 25 July 2008] over a dispute involving a segment of the poorly researched documentary "The Hidden Truth" by Janine Hoskings.

On a Utube forum advertising Tony's latest book titled "Schapelle" which will be released later this year by New Holland Publishers, an unknown user identified only as 'Gorb1122" has publicly attacked the former Chief Police Reporter, making startling revelations about Wilson's recent dismissal from News Limited.

"Tony Wilson was sacked today so I would be very careful about the release of this biased account of the Corby story, written by a man that is clearly deluded. This book should be relegated to the fiction section. He was sacked as a reporter for the Gold Coast Bulletin for his disgraceful behaviour and his biased view of the Corby case. Readers beware! This guy Tony Wilson is a real whack job. He's been fired from his job at the Gold Coast Bulletin for gross dereliction of the journalists code, delivering a cavalcade of biased and plainly wrong stories on the "INNOCENT" Schapelle Corby" this "normal"family has defrauded Australia with their book "My Story" now they're doing it again with this pile of garbage. Both these books should clearly be pulped."

The Utube account was registered by 'Gorb1122' only 24 hours prior to the morning in which Tony Wilson received notification from his employers that he had been dismissed following a two week suspension. The award winning journalist believes that this is nothing more than a tawdry insider smear campaign to discredit him and his latest release book 'Schapelle'.

Over the past four years since Schapelle Corby's arrest in Bali, Tony Wilson has provided News Limited with unlimited, exclusive access to Schapelle Corby and her entire family. His reports have often countered his rivals reports and challenged their validity.

Wilson's reputation is one of thoroughness and investigative prowess. Whilst it is a well known fact that he is driven by his personal belief in the injustice of Schapelle Corby's trial and sentencing, he remained resolute in raising questions despite harsh criticism directed at him from colleagues, save a single Australian citizen ever be detained unjustly overseas and in the absence of a fair trial.

Prominent Human Rights Advocate Kay Danes of the Foreign Prisoner Support Service has defended Tony Wilson by challenging the Utube user's statements - "I find it quite interesting that you [Gorb1122] should know this [Wilson's dismissal] considering it isn't public knowledge. Are you perhaps working for News Limited and seeking to further discredit a former employee who has an outstanding journalistic record, impeccable integrity and is highly respected in the Qld community? You can't have any basis for comment on Tony's book because it is still in the hands of his editors. I would strongly urge people to disregard comments by gorb1122 who clearly has an axe to grind. I know Tony Wilson from my work as an International Human Rights Advocate. I think that his employers made a very big mistake obviously based on Ganja Queen that was at best unbalanced."

Tony Wilson can be counted as one of a very few journalists, in Australia, with the professionalism to research the facts of the Corby case, and the human decency to speak out about it. "The Hidden Truth" was clearly selectively edited to make Tony Wilson look bad.

"It's an absolute disgrace what has happened to Tony. He just doesn't deserve being discarded over something he may have said in the heat of the moment, not knowing he was being secretly recorded" says Kay Danes.

The incriminating conversation was of course aired on 'The Hidden Truth' to which Tony Wilson angrily accused the former Schapelle supporter, Ron Bakir, of using Schapelle Corby as a means to making money.

"What you've done to that girl is a disgrace and it's going to come out, boy. You're the lowest person in Australia" said Wilson.

Obviously Wilson was not aware that Bakir was taping this conversation or that it would become part of "The Hidden Truth". The question begs to be asked, just what was said by Bakir to get the usually calm mannered reporter so riled up.

"It's not at all like Tony to get so angry unless perhaps that person has threatened either him or his wife" said a close friend of the Wilsons. "I believe that it was a set up to discredit him. It's obvious isn't it... if you know you are secretly taping the person you are calling?"

The final twist in this story is yet to come with the release of what is destined to be an explosive book of truths titled simply - 'Schapelle'.

Given the veracity of these attacks on Wilson's previously unblemished career, it makes no sense at all why someone would want to discredit him unless that someone fears what might be revealed in this soon to be released title.

I watched with great sadness the documentary on the arrest and conviction of Ms. Corby on HBO. It is impossible not to be moved. I am praying that there will be something or someone that can sway the Indonesian government into releasing her. While I certainly understand their stance and their complete right to maintain law and order in their own country, I am hoping that they will be compassionate and restore this young lady to her homeland and family. I am no expert, but it does appear that the case against her is cloudy, from what I saw in the documentary. She is not guilty beyond all reasonable doubt. I feel there are still so many unanswered questions. In any case, I was compelled to sign this petition because I found that after more than a few days after viewing the film, I am still so deeply disturbed by this young lady's circumstances. I just watched the documentary "Ganja Queen," and am incensed that Shapelle Corby is serving a 20-year prison term for a crime she did not commit. As criminologists pointed out, correct forensic procedures were not followed. Cameras were not working at the airports in Australia. There were no cameras to observe what occurred when Ms. Corby was confronted about what was in her boogie board bag. Her conviction is such a blatant miscarriage of justice. Personally, I will do my part in making the United States aware of her ordeal, and to try to exert influence to gain her freedom.

No More Tomorrows - The Epilogue

As I left a visit with Schapelle recenty, I told her, 'Don't lose hope.' She looked at me with her piercing blue eyes and stated matter of factly: 'It's gone. It's already gone!'

This has been a shattering year for Schapelle, perhpas the most deeply shattering of all so far. After five years of battling prostate and bone cancer, her beloved father, Miachael Corby, finally passed away in January.

Schapelle didn't get a chance to say goodbye.

It has broker her heart. Tears spring to her eyes at the mention of her dad. She is in such unbearable pain that she is unable to write about his passing herself.

Michael Corby lived for ths three childre, Schapelle, Mercedes and Michael - they were his whole world. He shared a special bond with his youngest daughter that was clear to see. She put a sparkle in his eyes. She lit him up. She was always his baby girl, and he adored her.

His last word before slipping into unconsciousness were to ask if Schapelle was OK.

Seeing her unjustly caged in a cell, losing her precious life day by day in a dark nightmare that he was powerless to do anything about, devasted him. He moved to Bali in 2005 to do whatever he could to hlep, devoting his loast good months to being with his daughters. Despite being in pain and terribly sick, he regularly did Schapelle's grocery shopping and visted her almost dialy in Kerobokan prison - sitting on the dirty concrete floor of the jail, ignoring the intense pain that caused him. But in 2006 he was forced to return to Australia for further medical treatment. Schapelle never saw him again.

He failed to recover his health sufficiently to make a return trip.

Father and daughter were each trapped, oceans apart, by their own tragic circumstances. The shocking injustic that keeps her locked behind the white walls of Kerobokan Prison stole her chance to say goodbye to her dad. His death has crushed her to a point where her family is seriously worried about her mental state for the first time.

She's acutely aware that life on the outside has now changed irreversibly. A few months after her dad's death, her stepfather, Greg Martin, who was a big part of her life for the past fifteen years, also lost his fight with cancer. It is a devastatingly sad time for Schapelle and her family.

But there was another cruel blow to compound her agony. After living with a flame of hope for the past two years while three judges in Jakarta reviewed her case, they finally delivered their deadly decision in March - her sentence will stand at 20 years.

She has now exhaused all appeals. The flame is out. Her hopes are dead. She truly believes there are no more tomorrows.

Schapelle corby: An Introduction

This introduces people to the tragic story of Schapelle Corby, an Australian tourist who travelled to Bali, Indonesia with family and friends only to discover that someone had placed 9 pounds of marijuana into her luggage. She was convicted to spend twenty years in an Indonesian prison where life expectancy is no more than ten years. However, the evidence that supported her innocence was suppressed and it soon became clear that this was a political trial with global implications. A must read for anyone interested in the falling status of Western democracy.

Corby and the Bali Police

This looks at what occurred before Schapelle's trial and at the vital evidence that the Bali Police stopped from being presented before the court. By preventing all measurable evidence from reaching the court, including any analysis of the incriminating evidence itself, the Police and not the judges determined the outcome of Schapelle's trial. It proves conclusively that the Bali Police had prior knowledge of the marijuana. It also looks at Schapelle's defence and concludes that the Indonesian government had complete control of her lawyers. It is not so much that she didn't get a fair trial but that she didn't really get a trial at all.

The Corby Case Part 1

This examines the Australian government's reaction to the charges against Schapelle. It looks at the disappearance of the CCTV footage in every airport Schapelle travelled through. It asks why Australia accepted international embarrassment for becoming a drug exporting nation without demanding that Indonesia test the drugs for their country of origin. This examines the court case itself and the role Schapelle's lawyers played in her conviction. It explains that marijuana is not transported around Australia by air and that a simple examination of our government's arrest and siezure records for Australian airports would have confirmed that. And yet, in spite of Australia's top cop saying that such a scenario was highly unlikely her lawyers pressed on with the same defence in both trials that the true culprit could only be an Australian. This was so that no one would look too closely at what occurred at Ngurah Rai Airport.

The Truth About Aussie Gold

In May of 2005 Mathew Moore wrote an article that claimed there was a market in Bali for Australian marijuana. Moore's article argues that Australian drug users in Bali feel more secure buying drugs from Western dealers because the Indonesian dealers are often working for the police. In fact, he says, that there is so much Australian marijuana in Bali it has the trade name, "Aussie Gold". Moore avoids the obvious. Western drug dealers stealing customers from Indonesian police-backed dealers wouldn't last five minutes. And, in spite of the fact that his claims allowed Schapelle's guilt to be a possibility, it was never reviewed, critiqued, or even questioned by the media - until now.

Corby and the SA Drug Dealer: Photos revealed

Hundreds of supporters have visited Schapelle in the visitor's area of Kerobokan Prison and many have posed for photos with her. One of these visitors was arrested in Australia for drug offences months after his return from Bali. Police found photos of him, Schapelle, and Schapelle's mother displayed on his mantlepiece and someone leaked the story to the press that photographic proof existed of Schapelle's involvement with drugs prior to her arrest. The press claimed they were not taken in a prison setting which meant Schapelle had assosciated with drug offenders prior to her arrest. In response, Schapelle's mother asked to see the photos so that she could identify when and where they were taken. However, this is when the real scandal occurred. Both the South Australian and the federal police gave information to the media supporting the myth that the photos were proof of Schapelle's prior connection to drugs while denying Schapelle's mother the right to see and identify them. Australia would have believed that Schapelle was indeed guilty had it not been for the second set of prints.

A Truth Behind the Lies

Jodie Powers was once a friend of Schapelle's sister, Mercedes. For two years, while the rest of the family's friends stayed away from the public eye, Jodie Powers can be seen in one media shot after another basking in the limelight of this media event. In spite of the media harrassment none of their friends spoke publicly until Mercedes and Jodie had a falling out. Then after a huge payout from TVW Channel 7, Jodie told Australia that the Corbys were the 'marijuana mafia'. She said that marijuana was laying all around their Queensland home, a duplex, and that they regularly took it to Indonesia. Not only that but the Corbys also had an Indonesian customs officer on their payroll. After being everywhere the Corbys went, Jodie was cashing in but still no police force found cause to investigate.

Death For Sale

Schapelle was facing the death penalty and Indonesian government backed anti-narcotics groups were demanding she pay with her life before her guilt or innocence was even determined. On the 8th of April 2005 the then Justice Minister, Chris ellison announced that he had just had a telephone conversation with Indonesia's Attorney General, Abdurrahman Saleh who agreed not to seek a death sentence because "Australians are opposed to the death penalty". What the Australian people were not aware of then was that a group of Australians, known as the Bali 9 had been under our federal police surveillance for weeks because they planned to go to Bali, buy heroin and return to Australia as drug mules. The Australian government informed the Indonesians of the Bali 9's intentions two weeks before they left Australia. On the 8th of April 2005, the day Saleh agreed not to seek the death penalty for Schapelle was the same day that the last of the Bali 9 arrived in Indonesia to go under Indonesian Police surveillance for death penalty offences.

She Shoulda Felt the Weight!

When Schapelle was first arrested the evidence for her innocence was so overwhelming that 95% of the nation polled belief in her. However, as the case progressed, this changed. No new supported evidence came to light and the reasons stated for this change of heart were downright silly. While all testimony stated that Schapelle's brother dragged Schapelle's bodyboard bag along with his own luggage from the carousel because Schapelle was already overladen, detractors still insisted that she should have felt the extra weight. When this was explained to them, they grasped at another unsupported myth. It became very clear that the reasons they were giving were mere excuses to justify a belief they already had. Since Schapelle appeared so innocent and the media were attacking her the fact that our government abandonned her must mean that they knew something they were not sharing with the people.

"If the world could unite to save this one innocent woman it would be a positive step to saving ourselves."
