Onset of Monsoon over Nagpur on 24th June 2026

Nagpur and the rest of vidarbha recorded a good amount of rainfall in the last two days on 22 and 23 June 2026 and thus onset of monsoon over the region was declared by IMD today on 24th June 2026.

The much awaited rainfall made its presence in almost in all parts of vid and chtg.

Further movement into rest of India is favourable for monsoon and intermittent rains in Nagpur and around till 3rd July 2026 are expected.

The difference in sst between Indian Ocean (western and eastern) refers to as IOD and earlier has helped India to avoid severe monsoon shortfall due to EL Nino and it's adverse effects.

The waters near Indonesia are cooler as compared to the African coast which are warmer during a positive phase of IOD.

This changes the wind patterns and channelize moisture towards India which boosts rainfall and eventually monsoon.

The El nino develops in the Pacific Ocean whereas the IOD in the Indian Ocean has influence on the weather patterns on the countries surrounding the Indian ocean.

Additionally the data and analysis from Japan's Meteorological Agency (JMA) can be referred to for the developments of Elnino and IOD.

After a long pause the monsoon finally started its onwards journey into India, slowly but steadily.

The monsoon map of India shows its Northern Limits further advanced into Maharashtra covering Pune and remaining parts of konkan and some parts of south Chhattisgarh too.

Conditions are favourable for further advancement of Monsoon covering entire western coast of Maharashtra including Mumbai and parts of West and southwest vidarbha and Chhattisgarh region by this weekend.

We may be heading towards dry start of monsoon this year in 2026 at Nagpur with historic delay, much delayed onset and drier than usual monsoon.

The mid-monsoon period from 15th July to 15th August is likely to post normal rainfall figures.

There is no significant energy from east coast and the monsoon current on the west coast is also paused.

Very little rain or brief showers in some parts of Nagpur and around Nagpur on 27th-28th June 2026 as per the Meteogram from IMD👇🏻

If there is a revival of monsoon, parts of eastern India upto Chhattisgarh will experience intense thunderstorms with isolated rains in the last week of June 2026.

Far away from India eLnino taking shape , the climate shift would eventually affect every Indian home, our farm production could reduce and eventually businesses across the country.

Nearly 75% of annual rainfall is recorded in the jjas, the monsoon season, alone and is vital for our food proce, the agriculture and the reservoirs for water storage.

India being the most populous country the shortfall of rains will have cascading effects like water shortages and widespread drought like situations.

The only hope of revival of Monsoon could be positive shift of iod.

Likely delay in onset of Monsoon over Kerala

The rainfall due to connective activity or otherwise was not enough to fulfill the criterion for declaring onset of Monsoon over Kerala.

The precipitation was not enough and hence we may have to wait further indicating delayed onset of Monsoon over Kerala.

For Monsoon to set and advance further into India, the N-India and Central India should heat up sufficiently creating a pressure gradient which is already present but due to onset of a strong WD the advancement of SW Monsoon into India is under threat.

The established monsoon current being weak is affected and dominated by a CYCIR over Pakistan tilting NW to E India drifting southwards.

Central India is experiencing active pre-monsoon activities like TS and rain alongwith drop in maximum temperatures.

On 01st June 2026 light to moderate TS with rains at Amravati Chindwara and Nagpur.

On 02nd June 2026 heavy thunderstorms in and around Amravati Chindwara Nagpur Bhandara Gondia.

On 03rd June 2026 light to moderate TS/rain in and around Raipur Durg Bhilai heavy thunderstorms in and around Bilaspur Korba.

On 04th June 2026 light to moderate TS/rain in and around Nagpur Bhandara some parts of chattisgarh in and around Bilaspur.

On 05th June 2026 Heavy thunderstorm with light to moderate rain around chindwara Nagpur Bhandara Gondia and areas around Raipur to Bilaspur.

Partly cloudy skies over Nagpur till 2nd June 2026 will help in bringing down the maximum temperatures.

Increase in humidity will make the comfort index degrade towards intolerance and also increase chance of occurrence of thunderstorms.

Increasing convective activity and pre-monsoon activity from 29th May 2026 till 01st June 2026 may be noted, alongwith very light rainfall in some parts of Nagpur and around.

Also 4-5°C drop in max min temps at Nagpur is possible till 02nd June 2026.

Weather Forecast for Nagpur and parts of Chattisgarh region for second fortnight of May 2026

The maximum temperatures will continue to rise for next 4-5 days till 18th May 2026with partly cloudy skies at times.

Thunderstorms and squally weather is likely around next weekend 23-24 May 2026.

Light to moderate rainfall at isolated places will mark the beginning of pre-monsoon.

When the sun enters the rohini nakshatra, theoretically higher temperatures are recorded which is helpful in good monsoon rainfall.

This year in 2026 the Sun enters rohini nakshatra on May 25th which will bring scorching and intense heat which will help in better and robust monsoon.

North India will particularly be affected from 25th May 2026 to 02nd June 2026 and severe heatwaves are expected whereas in central parts of India this phenomenon will occur about a week to ten days early, as stated above.

Also monsoon is likely to hit Andamans in a day or two, on 15-16 May 2026 similar to early onset last year 2025.

Conditions are favourable for advancement of Monsoon-2026 over Andaman and Nicobar islands and further into BoB.

Good news: Conditions are becoming highly favorable for monsoon onset over the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands during May 20-30. As per GFS, a nice upper-level anticyclone is likely to form over Central India, pushing the westerly jet stream further north and stabilizing easterlies over most parts of South India. This indicates that the mean tropospheric meridional temperature gradient is likely to reverse rapidly after May 20 and will also allow the angular momentum conserving overturning monsoon circulation to stabilize over the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and some parts of South India by the end of the month.

As analysed earlier the weather patterns behave differently every year.

A low pressure area in BoB around mid-may could trigger early arrival of monsoon over India.

Various weather models indicate faster advancement of monsoon in 2026 over Andamans and Kerala.

This could also be recorded as earliest ever onset of monsoon over India.

The rainfall variability in 2026 may be very wide from drought zones to flood zones. Central India specially Nagpur and around is more likely to be normal with some variability of longer than usual break-monsoon phases, W-vid is very likely to see above normal rainfall in monsoon-2026.

Amidst widely circulated news about EL NINO making it's presence felt, probably strongest ever,as reported manytimes elsewhere, the pre-monsoon activities has begun since last 2-3 days in central India and noticeable downfall in maximum temperatures alongwith changes in the patterns of upper wind flow and some cloud coverage shows that peak-summer is almost over. Though year 2026 is predicted to be EL NINO year the Monsoon in Vidarbha region is likely to be normal and parts of West vid like Akola Buldhana may record more than normal or excess rainfall in the season. There is no need to panick for farmers of Vidarbha region. Always refer to IMD for weather forecast.

एकंदरीत ह्या ग्रहांच्या गोचरभ्रमण स्थिती व गती, प्रमाणे

दि 7 जुलै ला पूर्व विदर्भातील चंद्रपूर, गडचिरोली जिल्ह्यातील काही ठिकाणी जोरदार वाऱ्यासह पण तुरळक पाऊस पडेल, 9 ता महाराष्ट्रतील पुष्कळ जिल्ह्यात पर्जन्य वृष्टी होईल. 12 ता. वाऱ्याची दिशा बदलेल व बंगालच्या उपसागरात कमी दाबाचा पट्टा तयार होईल ह्या मुळे 12 ते 16 जुलै दरम्यानच्या नाशिक, अहमदनगर, मध्य महाराष्ट्र, मराठवाड्यातील काही जिल्हे, तसेच पश्चिम महाराष्ट्र तील पुणे,सोलापूर, सातारा, ह्या जिल्हात काही ठिकाणी पाऊस पडेल.

पश्चिम विदर्भातील अमरावती,अकोला, बुलढाणा,ह्या बहुतांश जिह्यात 14 ता नंतरच पाऊस येईल तो पण बेताचाच पडेल. जोरदार वारा सुटेल, विजा चमकतील पण पाऊस तुरळक ठिकाणी तुरळक पडेल, साधारण 13-14 मिनिट किंवा जास्तीत जास्त 39 मिनिटे पावसाची एक सर येईल.

पूर्व विदर्भातील चंद्रपूर, गडचिरोली, गोंदिया, भंडारा, वर्धा,नागपूर ह्या जिल्ह्यात पाऊस 14 - 16 जुलै दरम्यान येईल.

15 जुलै नंतर पाऊस उत्तर भारत कडे आपला प्रवास सुरु करेल.

एकंदरीत संपूर्ण नक्षत्रात पाऊस सरासरी पेक्ष्या कमी आहे. सर्व शेतकरी बांधवांनी त्या प्रमाणे पिकांचे नियोजन करावे

Nagpur weather outlook till 15th Jan 2017

The atmosphere will be stable with not much change in the weather parameters at Nagpur for the period 1^st fortnight of 2017.

The Max temp will see a gradual rise till 32 deg cel for about a week, then a gradual decline for 2-3 deg from the peak. A direct 2 deg fall is expected on 11^th Jan 2017 and in range (+2/-1) for about two days and then gradual rise till 31 deg cel.

The min temps will be in line too, rising and falling with max correspondingly and will be in the range 15-18 deg cel (climbing till 06^th jan) and six deg fall in next about five days (6-11 jan) and remain the range…..14 (-2/+1) deg cel.

The wind speed will however continue to be light to moderate throughout the fortnight.

Kite flying enthusiasts, may; however; feel dampened spirit; due to light wind from 12-15 jan 2017. The wind gusts will be moderate from 08^th jan ’17 till 12^th jan ’17 and will be 10-12 knots (10-20 kmph).

No chance of precipitation at Nagpur till 15^th jan 2017.

FOR ALL THE WEATHER CONDITIONS THAT ARE CHANGING WORLD WIDE, DEPENDING UPON THE GEOGRAPHICAL REGIONS NEW TERMS HAVE TO BE COINED FOR METEOROLOGY LIKE ‘COLD-SUMMER’, ‘WARM-WINTER’,’DRY-MONSOON’ ETC.
