The problem come when the level of sugar consumption becomes excessive. This article emphasizes the effects of excess sugar on human health. Below are the generally known effects of excess sugar on human health. I believe that you will be blessed as you read.
1. Sugar addition: Having eaten excess sugar on regular basis, it is easy to be easily addicted. Any form of addiction is not good for the human body, as it weakens the will and focus.
2. Excess sugar consumption can suppress or reduce the proper functioning of the immune system. The implication is that if you eat excess sugar on regular basis, you stand the risk of falling sick more often as the immune system becomes weak.
3. Excess sugar consumption can induce deficiency of some essential nutrients: Nutrient elements such as chromium and copper can become deficient in individuals who take excess sugar. Magnesium and calcium which are equally important in human nutrition may be badly absorbed by the human body as a result of excess sugar. The same thing applies to important vitamins such as vitamin A, C, folic acid and B 12 .
4. Excess sugar consumption could cause premature aging: Individuals who consume excess sugar stand the risk of aging faster than their normal ages. As a result of excess sugar consumption, certain structures are formed which undermine muscles and tissue integrity.
5. Excess sugar can increase the risk of heart disease: There are evidences that those who take excess sugar stand the risk of heart disease. This is a very good reason to exercise moderation in the consumption of sugar.
6. Excess sugar can increase the risk of diabetes: It is a well known fact that excess sugar could aggravate diabetic condition.
The essence of highlighting these negative effects of sugar consumption is not to frighten you; rather it was meant to advice that you exercise restraint in your consumption of sugar particularly if you are above forty years old. Thank you for sparing part of your time with me.

Have you been spending lots of money to re-grow your hair? Keep everything you are doing aside now and read what I have written carefully as it will do you a lot of good. Hair is very vital to humans, as it provides a covering for our head. It also enhances the beauty of the human personality. Women generally spend a lot of money to take care of their hairs; and men spend a lot of money on hair restoration products annually. As a matter of fact, hair loss is one of the most dreaded conditions among humans. This article seeks to emphasize the fact that the food you eat play a role in the health of your hair. You may argue that male baldness is hereditary and there is nothing one can do about it. This is true to an extent, but the fact still remains that through good nutrition, your hair follicles can be properly nourished. Good nutrition will prevent the hair shafts from being weak. It will also prevent slow re-growth due to nutritional deficiencies. Below are such foods that can prevent hair loss or delay the onset of baldness in men:-
a. Vegetables and fruits:- These foods are rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Vitamin C, for example assists in the synthesis of collagen, which is the connective tissue that gives structure to hair. Examples of food rich in vitamin c are citrus fruits, tomatoes, cauliflower and strawberries.
b. Whole grains:- Insulin resistance has been linked with male baldness. This is the result of some studies by scientists. The whole grain foods are important as they provide insoluble fiber, which is very useful in fighting insulin resistance. These whole grain foods also contain vitamin B6 and Folic acid which are important in ensuring a good supply of blood. This increased supply of blood enhances good distribution of oxygen that nourish the hair, thereby prolonging the useful life of the hair follicles.
c. Water:- It is commonly said that water is life. This is because a greater proportion of the body weight is made up of water. Water plays important roles in the body system. It is important for transportation of nutrients round the body and it helps to keep your hair strong and hydrated.
d. Lean meat:- Lean meats supply vitamin B6, B12, Biotin, zinc and iron. All these nutrients work together to prevent hair loss.
e. Diary products:- Keratin, which is an important component of hair, is found in diary products. Vitamin A is also found in milk.
When these foods are taken in adequate quantity, they would go a long way to prevent hair loss and baldness. For more useful health related articles, visit this blog regularly. There are innumerable testimonies of how sickler children have been healed by God. This article aims at highlighting simple home remedies for managing the sickle cell crises.

The leaves of Telfaria occidentalis or fluted pumpkin are reputed to enhance the formation of healthy red blood cells. For this reason, it is commonly used in preparing simple home remedies for sicklers. Go here and read more articles on health related issues.

To prepare this home remedy, the leaves and vines of this vegetable are crushed or pounded in a mortar. A little quantity of water is added as the leaves are being pounded. After the pounding, it is strained to extract the water from the crushed leaves. This extracted water is mixed with milk or any nutritious drink such as maltina. The mixture is given to the sickler child to drink on regular basis. It may be repeated weekly. The parents would have to watch and make sure the child drinks the mixture. Tell someone about this article. Visit this blog regularly for articles of this kind.

In addition, the leaves of this vegetable are also used as vegetable in cooking soup along with other nourishing ingredients such as fish and meat.

The principle behind this treatment is that since red blood cells are rapidly destroyed in sicklers, there is a need to replace the cells as rapidly as they are destroyed. This preparation serves this purpose very well because this vegetable contains folic acid, which is good for blood formation while milk is a valuable source of vitamin B12, which prevents anemia.

It is known that the crises in sickle cell patients occur when the cells clump together and therefore not able to pass through blood vessels quickly. The child should be allowed to drink plenty of fluid all the time. This helps to keep the red blood cells free and thereby permit free flow of blood through any blood vessel.

Moreover, the child should be given folic acid and vitamin B-complex daily as this help to enhance the formation of healthy red blood cells. The child should never be exposed to extreme weather conditions such as low temperatures or any stressful exercises, which will lead to a high demand for oxygen, and he should be allowed sufficient rest
These common symptoms are presented below.

Periodic Episodes of Pain: It is common for sickle cell children to complain of pains in their legs, hands, etc. The pains are more common with the joints. These pains occur whenever the sickle cells block the free flow of blood to any organ. The frequency of these pains varies from one child to the other. Any stressful condition may trigger these pains or crises.
Swollen feet and hands: The toes and fingers of sicklers may become swollen. Pains may accompany these swellings. It may last for some days before the swelling subsides. The swelling and pain is due to the fact that the sickle cells cannot pass through tiny blood vessels easily. If you enjoy this article, tell someone about it and visit my blog for more articles.
Frequent bouts of infection: In children, the commonest is cough and malaria. Sicklers easily succumb to attack by malaria parasites. This is because the red blood cells are fragile and they are therefore easily destroyed by the malaria parasite, leaving the child anemic.
Anemia: Red blood cells of sickler children do not last long. They only live for about two to three weeks, thus there is need for frequent replacement of these cells. The sickler is therefore chronically and frequently short of enough red blood cells to carry oxygen to various parts of the body.
Stunted growth: Sickler children usually have stunted growth. Nutrients needed for growth are carried round the body through the blood. A shortage of healthy red blood cells can result in slow growth in children. Also, there are indications that nutrients are not fully utilized by the body of sicklers. This is partly responsible for the slow growth. It usually delays puberty in teenage children. These symptoms begin to manifest as from the fourth month after birth. Affected babies may not crawl or walk at the right time. Do you have friends who are sicklers? Refer them to this article and click here for more articles on health matters.
Impaired vision: There are research reports that some sicklers may have impaired vision. This is as a result of the blockage of the blood vessels which supply eyes with blood and nutrients. This leads to a damage of the retina of the eyes, leading to poor vision.
It is common among people of African, Middle-East and Mediterranean descent. In Africa, where children are indispensable factor in a successful marriage, many women have lost their marriages as a result of the death of their children because of this blood disease.

There is a substance called hemoglobin, which is found in the red blood cells. Its primary function is to help red blood cells to transport oxygen from air in our lungs to all parts of the body. This hemoglobin is of two types i.e. A and S types. People with sickle cell disease have double dose of the S hemoglobin (SS), each of which they inherited from each of the two parents. As a result of this defect, their red blood cells are sickle shaped (that was how the disease got its name), and therefore have difficulty in passing through small vessels because they are stiff. Also, red blood cells containing mainly S hemoglobin do not live as long as those with A hemoglobin. On the average, such cells live for about two to three weeks, in contrast to the red blood cells that have A hemoglobin, which may live for as long as one hundred and twenty days before there is a need for replacement. In other words, the red blood cells need replacement too frequently in sickle cell disease patients. This is the reason why these individuals are frequently anemic. For now, there is no cure for the disease except through divine intervention.

Are you really blessed reading through this article? Feel free to tell others about it . This is particularly true in African countries where the sizes of families are fairly large, the populations are high and the per-capita income is very low. The economic recession all over the world tend to worsen household troubles. The challenge confronting every family now is how to use the small resources at their disposal to achieve maximum satisfaction without resulting to borrowing and debt.

The following tips will result in drastic reduction in family expenses while ensuring that maximum satisfaction is derived from every dollar spent:
1. Budgeting Family Expenses: Governments all over the world usually prepare a budget of the income and expenses for a whole year. If a government with almost unlimited resources could do this, nothing stops families from having a monthly budget of how they intend to spend their incomes. The major advantage of budgeting is that it helps the family to maintain focus and it thus ensure that family financial resources are optimally used.
2. Buying of Food and Other Household Items in Bulk: The practice of buying things in bulk has the advantage of reducing the unit price of the items purchased.
3. Avoiding Impulse or Spontaneous Purchases: The family resources should be concentrated on buying the absolutely necessary items while leaving out the ones that are not urgent or necessary. Efforts should be made to stay within the budget for the month.
4. Making Effort to spend less than the amount actually budgeted: In African countries, where majority of people are farmers, food items are usually cheaper during the harvesting season. These food items should be purchased at this time, which results in less expense.
5. Avoid wasting Food: With experience, one should be able to know the quantity of food that is enough for the household. The practice of cooking more food than necessary should be avoided, except if the excess can be re-used again.
6. Avoid Credit Purchases: From my own experience, buying things and paying cash is relatively cheaper on the long run. Therefore, buying in cash is more economical.

If you have really enjoyed reading this article, your comments and observations are welcomed. This is very true of human beings, who are the highest of God's creation.

Studies show that aging is accelerated if we dont have enough nutrients required for healthy development of our body organs. This is the reason why our body organs tend to lose their functions with age. Various abuses such as drugs and too much sexual fulfilment can also speed up the aging process.

The following tips will reduce the speed at which one ages:

1. Eat the most nutritious food possible. There may also be need to take nutritional supplements to augument what is obtained from food.

2. Maintain a habit of rest: It is good to have time to rest, daily, weekly and annually. It is not a bad idea to travel on holiday for a change in evironment.

3. maintain a positive mental attitude: people who have a positive attitude towards life are likely to live longer than anyone with a negative attitude.

It is my belief that if these tips are implemented they will actually help us to renew our youth like the eagles, as promised in the Holy Bible.

It matures between 18-24 months, depending on variety planted. Banana is greatly valued for its nutritional content.

The ripe fruit has a lot of potassium which is very good for people who exrcise a lot. Potassium is also known to be able to keep the blood pressure low. In diarrhoea patients, banana is very important as it helps to replace the nutrients that was lost. It also replaces the electrolytes which helps to maintain fluid balance and power the body.

An average sized banana fruit provides about 33mg of magnesium, 452 milligrams of potassium and a little over 2grammes of fibre, which is equally soluble and assist in lowering body cholesterol. The calorie content of banana is made up mainly of carbohydrates . As the fruit ripens, the sugar level rises while the starch level falls. For this reason the fruit is easier to digest the more ripe it becomes. The fruit is generally low in protein, though the amount of protein in the fruit is generally higher than the amount of fat. The vitamin C which is found in Banana helps the body to fight diseses and infections. This vitamin is also important for synthesis of connective tissues, iron absorption and the formation of blood. Banana also has vitamin B6 which assists in synthesis of antibodies in the immune system and also helps in blood formation and proper functioning of the nervous system.

This is because the nutrients keep your hair and skin healthy. Also eating good food while exercising regularly will make the body strong and fit.

Foods such as dairy products are rich in protein, which is good for beautiful skins and good hairs. Oranges contain a lot of vitamin C. Eating an orange a day gives the body enough vitamin C which is needed. This vitamin makes the body beautiful by keeping the connective tissues strong, thus preventing wrinkling of the skin. Other foods that contribute to healthy skin and hairs are tomatoes, berries, walnut and oysters.

They are easily identified by the pain they produce, swellings, red and coloration of the affected parts of the body. In addition affected areas are painful.

It is known that there are certain foods that can worsen inflammations in the body. Such foods should be avoided or their consumption reduced. For example, foods high in fats and sugar, and fast foods may increase inflammation. Processed meats such as hot dogs and sausages contain nitrites which can increase inflammation. Others such as soft drinks and candy which are high in sugar content can also increase inflammation. For excellent health therefore, the consumption of these food should be reduced or eliminated completely.

The honey is harvested by man in the wild. In recent times, the number of artificially constructed bee hives have increased all over Africa. This is due to the increased awareness of the nutritional and economic benefits of honey, a situation which leads to increased production of honey.
Nutritionally, honey is a very good food substance which contains a lot of carbohydrates. These nutrients are easily digested, absorbed and utilized by the body of man as a source of energy. In addition, the pollen remnants extracted from bees hives are eaten by man as a source of protein. Honey is particularly useful to diabetic patients as a substitute for refined sugar.
In African societies, honey is an important components of the requirements during weddings and naming ceremonies. It is common to bless people by saying that "Your life and marriage will be sweet like honey"
Honey is also highly important for its medicinal properties. Among rural people in Africa for instance, it is commonly mixed with hot water, lemon juice or hot milk and used as remedy for cough and sore throat in children. Sometimes, it may be mixed with lemon juice and garlic for the same purpose. It can also be used as dressing for wounds and burns. At present time, this commodity is finding more uses in the cosmetic industries and the bee wax is used in making candles.
Readers' comments are welcomed. In anorexia the victim abstain from food in order to reduce his perceived weight problem while in bulimia the victim eats too much to gain weight after which he finds ways to vomit the excess food and gain some relief. These conditions are caused by low self-esteem, stress and a desire to fit into a group or win acceptance of peers and friends. Everyone has love and esteem needs but the victims of these disorders carry their own desires to extreme levels. They seek fulfillment at the expense of their health.

The following steps outline the strategies to gain freedom from these disorders:
1. Accept yourself as you really are. Know that you are very unique in all things, therefore do not compare yourself with anyone.
II. Get busy with activities that will benefit yourself and others. This will help you to think less about yourself
iii. Decide in your mind that you will be happy everyday and keep your promise.
iv. Purpose in your heart that you will not overeat or under eat as the case may be.
v. Know in your heart that there is no ideal shape, weight, or fashion. The so-called standards for judging these attributes are always changing. Why then do you need to worry yourself about such things whose standards of assessment keep on changing?
vi Use the principle of auto-suggestion by repeating the following affirmations in front of your mirror early in the morning everyday:
"I am feeling great, spirit soul and body. I am created in the image of God who is perfect in all respect. I am created perfect. My weight is the best for me, i am of the right shape. I am created beautiful. In all my activities today everyone shall see the radiance of God's beauty and glory in me and they shall praise my heavenly father"
vii. The exercise should be performed with absolute faith that it will work

This statement is very true because taking steps to prevent diseases is far cheaper than allowing the disease condition to come before seeking help.

Microorganisms present in our environments generally cause diseases. These microbes produce toxins, which poison our system leading to the disease symptoms.

Another factor that leads to disease condition is poor nutrition. When you are not able to obtain the required nutrients in the right amount, the tendency is for the body to operate below the most efficient level, as the body will not be able to resist most of the common diseases around.

In addition, physical and emotional stress has been identified as being responsible, in many cases for the observable symptoms. Low self-esteem, loss of hope and general frustrations, all combine to produce anxiety and mental stress which usually have a negative effects on general well-being. No matter the causes of the disease, preventive measures, using nature’s principles and techniques have been found to be very effective and cheaper.

How then can we go about preventing diseases using natural methods?

Firstly, it is important to make sure that our food contains the important nutrients such as proteins, fats and oils, minerals and vitamins. It is known for instance, that adequate nutrition can give the body some level of resistance against disease such as tuberculosis, common cold, anemia, sore throat, etc. No pills or drugs can effectively substitute for natural foods such as fruits and vegetables which are very common around us. The foods and vegetables should not be over-cooked to prevent the nutrients from being denatured and rendered useless. The foods should also be prepared in the most hygienic environment to prevent contaminations.

Apart from nutrition, I strongly believe that each and every one of us should have a religious/spiritual experience that can brighten our outlook about life and thus give us the hope of achievement, even though things are difficult at present. To be able to obtain this experience, it is important to hear and meditate on the primary messages of our faith. Reading the religious books and fellowshipping with other brethren will be of immense benefits. In addition, thought discipline and adequate rest are important. Avoid any condition that produces guilt, regrets and depression. Any thought that will not produce hope and confidence should be rejected and substituted immediately with a thought of hope and goodness.

It is my firm belief that if these simple steps are followed, we shall be able to live a healthy life at the cheapest cost.

The nectar is biochemically changed to honey, which is harvested by human beings, either in the wild or at home from bee hives constructed by man.

The practice of establishing bee farms is becoming more common these days due to the recognition of the fact that honey is a very important product in international trade and the fact that the nutritional and health benefits of honey are becoming more obvious.

Honey is commonly used as a sweetening agent in homes. It is a perfect substitute for refined sugar in both urban and rural areas in Africa. Nutritionally, honey is a very good food substance. This is because it has a great amount of carbohydrates such as levulose, dextrose, sucrose and dextrins. It also contains some good quantities of minerals and water. The carbohydrates are easy to digest and absorb by the body, thereby providing a rich source of energy for life activities. The pollens extracted from bee hives along with honey are consumed by human beings. Experts say that they are valuable nutritionally as a source of protein.

Honey is used locally in the treatment of cough, particularly among children. The usual practice is to mix honey, lemon juice and garlic together. The resulting mixture is taken orally as many times as possible. Honey can also be mixed with hot water, lemon juice or hot milk for the treatment of cough and sore throat.

We can also take advantage of the antibiotic properties of honey by using it as dressing for wounds. Among the Yorubas of Western Nigeria, honey plays an important role during naming ceremonies.

It is regarded as a wholesome fruit. The daily requirements of essential nutrients such as minerals and some vitamins can be met by eating this fruit.
The pawpaw has excellent medicinal values which are recognized, even right from the ancient times. It is easily digested and also aids in digestion of other foods. Ripe pawpaw is good for growing children, pregnant women and nursing mothers. One of the important discovery of modern science is the presence of a protein digesting enzyme in the milky juice of the fruit. The enzyme is similar to pepsin in action and is reputed to be able to digest 200 times its on weight in protein. Its effect is to assist the body's own enzymes in assimilation

It is reputed to enhance the development of healthy red blood cells. In order words, it helps in preventing anemia in humans.
I have two daughters who are sicklers, in other words, they have the sickle cell genes. These children usually fall sick very frequently and they are anemic. It was recently that someone told me about the efficacy of fluted pumpkin in rectifying the situation. What i did was that i extracted the water or juice in the fresh leaves of this crop, i mixed the juice with Maltonic and i gave the mixture to these children for drinking. I was carrying out this process weekly. Since i started giving them this mixture, i noticed that the frequency and severity of their crises have reduced drastically. I obviously cannot confirm whether it was only this mixture that brought about this observed changes. However, readers comments and experiences are welcomed
