Abigail Doan is a gorgeous & multi-talented artist, whose

work speaks to the time spent with her source materials & an intense connection to nature.

Utilizing items often tossed by society at large, her work creates almost Living communes of found and recycled bits. Fiber Flotsam, as she refers to them... bits of natural of ephemera like dried lichen, antique lace, vintage embroideries, street flotsam, textile bits, threads, etc from her life spent between NYC, NY farms, Bulgaria & Italy.

Her work calls to my own mind, memories of a recurring childhood dream.... rooms filled with texture & color. Though I could never identify the individual bits and pieces I felt a primal instinct of comfort & connection.

A deep emotion so instinctual there are no words....

if you can, do go see her current show at the Hunterdon Art Museum in NJ...

While in Los Angeles, I had the pleasure of attending the opening party for the environment by Heather Heron collection at Environment Furniture.

Using such sumptuous textiles such as vintage military tents, organic tanned leather, & antique Japanese textiles along with her own signature Organic Hemp, Heather Heron has created the perfect lifestyle compliment to the incredible sustainable furnishings at environment.

Personally, I am a dedicated Bag Lady, as my husband calls me & I want them all!

Add in some scarves & blankets for the weekend house,

the trio of Pouches in every color way & the surfbag - )i need the longboard vers as I just got mine back after too too many years!) - and we're good!

Now, happily the environment by Heather Heron collection can be viewed in NYC as well!

although, it seems they're going quickly, so go by & take a look for yourself!

the evening drew in a fabulous crew & all in all was a perfect evening.

big love to all my LA peeps I got to see there, too!

isn't it great when you hit upon fear or disappointment or feeling overwhelmed & deal with all of that & on top of it, deal with your also old, outgrown & annoying behavior pattern in dealing with that & you do all that you can toward your actual goal & desired outcome. & then you go in to the city & meet with massive traffic thanks to the UN summit being in NYC & so you can't get a cab & you end up on the back of a pedi cab zipping through the cars & people (thank you aggressive pedi cab driver) & then you make it to a meeting with some of your favorite clients visiting from overseas & you roll out all you've been working on & even though you feel a little incomplete in the showing, because you have so many MORE ideas of things you want to include in your work, they still love what you show & place their third reorder, even on one thing they had said previously would not work for them, but you love it and show it anyway
& they love it too. hurdle one of upcoming challenges. jumped.
aaaand. then you come home to a great meal your husband has prepared & friends you're having over & then you get a great night's sleep & you awake feeling at peace and you eat the last peach of the season that actually tastes & is a REAL peach. (hard to find north of the mason dixon line on the east coast).
well, yes. that was great.

went out for a gorgeous bike ride this morning.
