NFC Technology (Near Field Communication Technology) will bring in the ‘next level’ convenience and sensibility to the way we exchange information. This technology can easily be scaled up to many areas of applicability, which is what makes it another add-on into the list of ‘Next-Big-Things’. Now, lets look at some of the key aspects of NFC Technology including what it is, how it works, NFC in the market place and it’s future.

What is NFC?
NFC stands for Near Field Communication and as the name suggests, the key for this technology lies in devices being in close proximity or contact with each other. Once devices have established the proximity, which is enabled very quickly (0.1 sec), the communication is enabled. The distances in terms for NFC must be very small, usually less than an inch and as such it is different from comparable communications like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for which there are natural comparisons.

How NFC Technology works:
Near field Communication operates through short wave radio transmission. Devices that operate NFC technology like smartphones or PDAs, are equipped with an NFC chip. The process of communication between the chip in one device and the chip in another device is an electronic process called inductive coupling. This coupling is a development of an earlier technology, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). With RFID, the technology had a ‘send and receive’ process and was used in a one directional format. NFC takes this process to the next level and allows two way communication between NFC Technology enabled devices.

NFC in the Marketplace:
The current scope of NFC services is in its infancy in terms of market launch and proliferation. The global range of the product is sporadic and there are a variety of test locations which have embraced this technology, the key markets of USA and Japan are showing a steadily growing rise in the number of transactions as the technology takes hold. In recent surveys, a growing number of people have stated that they would much rather pay using their phone than carry cash. The scope is of demand is being trialled in some key market areas in Europe and Asia with a growing body of evidence revealing general product in performance in France, South Korea, Turkey, United Kingdom and Tanzania.

France offers the earliest evidence of information with NFC technology in operation, during the early May 2010. There, NFC has been used for purchases of civil services like transportation information and ticketing, similar services have been used for the system in South Korea from later in that same year. More recent progress of the technology can be seen in Turkey where, from early 2011 in Turkey up to 55,000 separate retail processes could be operated using the system. A more limited facility (15,000 outlets) mainly through banks and mobile phone companies has been in evidence in the UK through 2011 and Tanzania.

The statistical data on the number of Near Field Communication transactions globally illustrates a growing trend for usage, but one which is only at the tip of the iceberg if general predictions are to be believed. According to statistics released by Juniper Research Visa has issued 20,000,000 NFC enabled cards and Google Wallet can currently operate at 311,000 locations globally. Predictions for the number of transactions to be made using NFC devices over the coming couple of years show a sharp increase to a plausible 50,000,000 global transactions by 2014. The bulk of these will occur in Europe, US and Asia.

Brands already incorporating NFC:
It is also estimated the more than 1/10th of the smart phones sold globally were NFC ready devices with many of the major brands including Blackberry, Nokia, Google and Samsung employing the technology in a range of their handsets. In addition to the handsets. the technology is a part of MasterCard and it can even be found in the Wii controller. Although this claim is yet to be verified, it is rumored that Apple has come on board and has planned to have NFC as part of iPhone 5 and iPad 3.

Emerging markets:
The growth of NFC technology is not limited to developed markets either with the rise in usage occurring in a number of emerging markets. A recent report for Financial Firm Citigroup stated that there were,

40 million mobile money users exist in Africa – the lion’s share of this is attributable to the over 20 million users of Safaricom’s M-Pesa offering in Kenya.

A further report by Communications Commission of Kenya highlighted this growing trend,

The continued growth is an indication of subscribers’ preference to mobile money transfer, which could be attributed to accessibility and affordability even to low-income earners who form the bulk of the unbanked population.

The Future of NFC:

Near Field Communication is here and set to be the next big thing. Watch out for stores in your locality promoting the use of paying by handset. With key players like Google and Apple preparing themselves for this market, it is inevitable that the NFC Technology (with the era beginning with NFC Phones) will become a part of our society.

NexPhone: Futuristic Concept Smartphone Using Ubuntu for Android, Real Deal or Hogwash?

NexPhone concept is a new kick-starter like project where the promoters intend to build a smartphone that becomes your tablet, laptop and PC, all at the same time. Might sound familiar since ASUS has a similar project called ASUS PadFone. The interesting thing about NexPhone project is that, they intend to use Ubuntu for Android as their preferred desktop OS. It all looks very promising (video below), but there are some suspicious bits too.

The video introduction to the project is impressive and the demo of hardwares and docks shown are really nice too. They intend to use Ubuntu for Android software to create a smartphone that will function as a full PC. Additionally, the NEX series will feature affordable options to dock NexPhone to peripherals such as a tablet, laptop or wide screen monitor.

What I don't like is the fact that NexPhone campaign is a Flexible Funding campaign, which means, this campaign will receive all of the funds contributed by Sat Nov 10 at 11:59PM PT, even if they doesn't reach the intended goal of raising $950,000.

Samsung Galaxy smartphones with new naming scheme

Samsung today unveiled its new naming scheme for its Galaxy range of smartphones. According to the new scheme, smartphones will be categorized under five alphabets –

S (flagship, supersmart)

R (royal, refined, premium)

W (wonder, high-end)

M (magical, mid-end) and
Y (young, entry-level).

For instance, it isn’t clear how R and W series are different from each other. And there’s more: device names can have a plus affixed to them to indicate it is a feature update of an existing model; pro to indicate a physical QWERTY keypad and LTE, well, to indicate LTE connectivity. Samsung today also introduced four Android 2.3 smartphones in the Galaxy Series - Galaxy W, Galaxy M Pro, Galaxy Y and Galaxy Y Pro smart – that will be unveiled during IFA next week.

Install Windows xp in less than 15 minutes.

Just follow the steps below:

Boot through windows xp cd
After all the files are completely loaded,you get the option to select the partition. Select "c:"
Now format the partition,whether it is normal or quick with NTFS or FAT
Once the formatting is completed, All the setup files required for installation are copied. Restart your system by pressing Enter.
Now here begins the simple trick to save 15 minutes.
After rebooting , you get a screen where it takes 40 minutes to complete or finalize OS installation
Now press Shift + F10 Key. This opens command Prompt.
Enter "taskmgr" at the command prompt window. This will open task manager
Click the process Tab, here we find a process called Setup.exe . Right click on Setup.exe-> Set priority - > Select High or Above normal. Initially it will be Normal.

Thats all.. No more work to do.. Relax Yourself and see How fast it is ...

cSkype today released a new beta – Skype 5.5 – and a good thing about the new version is that it doubles as a Facebook Chat client.

Here are the steps you need to follow:

1) First of all download DOSBOX.exe(size:1-2 mb only), it’s a freeware, so no need of licence.

2) Install DosBox on your machine.

3) Now see that you have setup of TC on C: drive it should look like this (C:\TC\BIN), if it’s not installed in this manner, you change it, so it can be easy for you to run on DosBox.

4) Also copy EGAVGA.BGI from c:\TC\BGI to c:\TC\BIN. Now, it’s time to run DosBox. After running dosbox press ”alt+enter” for full screen.

5) Now type “mount c c:\tc” (exclude quotes) then press Enter. It will be printed that “Drive C is mounted as local directory c:\tc\”

6) Now change drive form z: to c: , for that just type “c:” press enter.

7) You will be in C: drive, type “cd bin” press enter.

8) After entering in c:\BIN just type “tc” press enter.

9) You are done.

Change the directories as shown in below image:

Note:

1. In dosbox , You will have problem with some keys (especially in HP laptops), so you can read the dosbox manual and solve it, even you can comment and ask me.

2. The major problem is that dosbox exits on pressing “ctrl+f9”, by which we run program in TC. So for that just press “ctrl+f1”, a key mapper will be displayed. On Key mapper single click on “SHUTDOWN”, after that click on “DEL” button below it. Don’t forget to Save & Exit.

This is an Interesting Trick i found in Adobe Reader. This works in Adobe Reader 7.0 through the
latest 9.3.

1. First of all Install Adobe Reader , if you haven’t already.

2. Ok So first you go to View>Read out Loud> Activate Read Out Loud.

3. After you have done that just do this.

Now it will read it to you out loud in the Default Microsoft Sam voice.

5)And if nothing comes on screen then you must understand that user is online, but in invisible mode.
