Beautiful on the inside and out

All of us desire to be attractive. We desire to be liked by others. We all desire to look our very best.
Looking good on the outside is wonderful, but how are we on the inside? What is on the inside will show on the outside. We may be beautiful and flawless on the outside, but be mean and conniving on the inside.

I am in the midst of a full makeover-on the inside and out! I want to be beautiful all around, and I want my light to shine. I want people to smile and be happy when they meet me, not be put off, thinking I'm a snob or she's not very fun to be around.

To start this makeover, I did start on the inside. First, I needed God. He is the only that could help me. Second, I needed a church home-fellowshipping with others and hearing the word of God is essential in our day to day lives. Third, I needed to deal with my life, my issues and my past. I needed healing from hurts, anger, grudges and I needed to let my guard down. That leads me into Step # 4-trusting others and letting your guard down. We can't hide behind walls forever ( I tried) it doesn't work. I am taking a class at my church called Transforming Grace. There are four cycles I am taking, each of them 12 weeks long. I started with Traits of Co-dependancy (Wait, How am I a co-dependent??? Please!!!), Recovery (getting to the root of the traits we possess), safe people and boundaries. I started with traits, learned a lot of what I do and how I act. I learned I have walls and my guard is up. I was hiding behind my walls. In Recovery-I got to the root of any issues I have-dealing with family, school, friends, etc. We do explore what happened in our past.

It is a painful process, but a necessary process. We must be willing to deal with our hurts on the inside before we can focus on the outside. What do I mean by the outside? Well, your hair, your nails, body shape, new wardrobe, make-up, etc.

Yes, we can do that first, but ignoring the inside and not dealing with US will shine through on the outside. You can look into a person's eyes, and see the smile is not there. You can look into the person's eyes and see the hurt, the pain and the walls. You can hear a person speak and hear the words of bitterness, anger, un-forgiveness, strife and pain. You can give a person a hug or pat on the back and feel the tension, the walls and the non trust.

Yes, dealing with the inside is the first step in a full makeover. It is a life-style change. Are you willing to make the change? To go for the full makeover? I promise you, it is worth it.
