‘Offers Near Me’ is early first location-based opt-in program that allows Tata DOCOMO GSM customers to receive exciting deals, offers and discount coupons from their favorite retailers — FMCG brands, apparel companies, malls, restaurants, cinemas, coffee shops, auto dealers, and many more. Value deals and discounts offered depend on the location the customer is travelling in and individual retailer offers.

This service is free and Tata DOCOMO GSM customers will not be charged, but to subscribe this service customers will have to dial the interactive portal at *533*9#. Upon subscription, customers will be provided with an enhanced shopping experience, receiving timely location-specific deals in the exact location they are in. These deals will be unique and better than any market offering, providing greater value to Tata DOCOMO users.

Tata DOCOMO has partnered with Stay In Touch Mobile for this VAS offering and has successfully piloted this project in Andhra Pradesh. The exciting new service will be rolled out nationally in a phased manner.

Until a few years ago, internet access on the cellphone mainly meant being able to chat or send and receive e-mail on your handset.

Yes, you could browse the Web on your phone as well, but screens were small and the browser - the software that let you access websites - was not really designed to let you see websites in all their glory, but instead showed you watered down “mobile-friendly ” versions of the originals.

All that changed with the arrival of the iPhone with its powerful Safari browser. This not only signalled an era of larger phone screens, but also positioned the handset as a device that was as capable of browsing the Web as a computer.

The iPhone’s popularity led to not only more touchscreen devices (which is another story altogether), but also spurred a significant improvement in cellphone browsers. Prior to the iPhone, browsers like Opera Mini had managed to deliver a decent browsing experience on handsets, but had often been hampered by relatively small (2 or 2.2 inch) displays.

All this has now changed and the first thing that many users do when they get a cellphone is often to download a new browser to be able to surf their favourite websites with minimum fuss - ironically, the default browsers in most smartphones (barring the iPhone and Android devices) still remain on the weaker side.
Here, then are some of the mobile browsing options available for those wanting a slice of the Web on their phones:

Opera Mini: It can claim credit to having started the mobile browsing phenomenon when it allowed users to access desktop versions of websites on their handsets as far back as in 2005. Since then, it has gone from strength to strength and now even comes pre-installed on many handsets.
One of the reasons Opera Mini works so well is that it uses a server to compress Web pages and then sends them to a handset - this can wreck havoc with images, but more often than not provides a very quick browsing experience, even on relatively slow connections.

Recent years have seen additions like tabbed browsing, an icon-driven interface, the ability to share bookmarks with desktop browsers, and support for just about every phone (including the iPhone) in town being added. All of which make it the best mobile browsing option on a handset to this day, notwithstanding the absence of support for Flash websites.

In fact, it is so good that it has overshadowed and at times even cannibalised a sister product, Opera Mobile, which provides similar functionality, but runs totally off the phone and does not access pages through a server!
Available on www.m.opera.com

Bolt It is a relative newcomer to the world of mobile browsers, but Bolt has already started making a name for itself with its extremely fast browsing and the fact that it allows users to access streaming Flash websites like YouTube and MySpace.

Bolt also lets you use Web applications like Google Docs and games like Mafia Wars, all with minimum loss of formatting. There is also a widget platform for those who would like to access sites without the fuss of typing out URLs (never an easy task on handsets).

Top that off with the fact that the browser runs on any handset that runs Java (it does not run on the iPhone and while Android versions are being tested out, it is not on the Android Market) and you can see why the browser is gaining so much popularity. It still loses out to Opera Mini in terms of sheer speed and stability though. Available on www.boltbrowser.com

SkyFire There are many who complain about its (lack of) speed, its tendency to shut down abruptly at times and its less-than-intuitive interface. But all said and done, Skyfire has made a name for itself as being, perhaps, one of the most powerful browsers to run on a cellphone.

It is one of the few browsers that lets you access a number of Flash sites without too many hassles (there’s even a workaround for this on the iPhone which does not support flash) and gives near desktop-style performance for almost all websites on most popular smartphone platforms.

What holds it back from cellphone browser domination is its tendency to be buggy and the fact that it is a bit of a resource hog - it can really slow your phone down sometimes. For this reason, it works best on devices with a little more power under the hood. Available on www.skyfire.com

Dolphin HDThere are many who will frown at the need for getting a third-party browser on an Android handset, which generally has a version of Google’s mobile Chrome running on it.

It, therefore, speaks volumes of just how good Dolphin is, that many consider it a must-have application for Android users.

Apart from handling Flash and HTML 5 sites very well, it also brings in the convenience of gestures, letting you access websites by just drawing a shape on the screen.

For example, you can assign the letter ‘F’ to access Facebook. Draw the shape on the screen and you’ll instantly be taken to that site. There are also various addons and extensions available; a password manager and screen capture to add further functionality to the browser, if need be.

For example, it also supports downloading of YouTube videos. A pity it is available only for Android devices running software version 2.0 or later. Available on Android Market

Firefox MobileDo not get fooled by the name. The mobile version of Firefox has, so far, failed to match the performance (and hence, popularity) of its desktop counterpart. While it does offer a fair bit such as support for HTML 5 and add-ons, it has been found wanting in several departments, most notably those of speed and stability.

When it does work, though, it works very well indeed. Alas, it has been a work in progress rather than the finished article for way too long. So far, it is available only for Android and Maemo devices. Available on www.mozilla.com/en-US /mobile/

iCab MobileFor many iPhone fanatics, downloading an additional browser when they have the superb Safari broswer pre-loaded on the device seems like a waste of time.

However, iCab Mobile has emerged as one of the main challengers to Safari on the iPhone, just as it continues to be one of its rivals on the Mac OS platform.

iCab Mobile brings tabbed browsing, three finger scrolling, and most interestingly, a download manager that can not just be opened by apps on the iPhone, but can also be transferred to a computer.

The built-in search function can be extended by adding more search engines, just like a browser on a PC. It also has some unique features like filters to block ads or other unwanted elements on a webpage.

One of the two browsers in this feature to come with a price tag ($1.99), but in terms of performance, iCab is one of the best we have seen. Available on Apple App Store

Xscope Xscope is not just a Web browser for Android devices; it also functions as a task killer (to help close apps running in the background) and as a file manager.

You can long press on a link or an image for additional options like downloading. It is noticeably faster in rendering pages as compared to the default Android browser.

Additionally, tabbed browsing is possible, and you can switch between tabs by simply swiping left or right on the tabs toolbar. Like Dolphin HD, Xscope also allows you to download YouTube clips for later viewing.
Other features include pinch-to-zoom, various customised skins and URL sharing. You can share the link to any website you visit using G-mail, Facebook or SMS; just long press on the URL bar and the sharing options come up. The latest version only works on devices running Android 2.1 or later.

It is priced at $2.99 on the Android App Market, but there is a free, lite version available too.
Sibal said Datawind - the manufacturer of the product - will not be associated with it anymore and the government has roped in C-DAC and ITI for further development of the tablet computer.

''There have been some problems with Datawind I must confess. Therefore, I have got into the act. IT ministry has got C-DAC and ITI into the act and I am going to ensure that this product is fully indigenous and truly an Indian product," he said.

On whether the new tablet will be available within the same price range as that of the earlier product, he said, "Yes that's what we hope. It is to be upgraded."

On the possible timeline for launching it, he said, "Well, 2012 should see the sun... Aakash-II should be launched. There have been some hiccups in the way. Remember when you do a project of this nature and when your dream is as big as this, things are never that smooth."

Welcoming competition from market for development of the tablet, he said the objective is to give a quality product to the children. "I think it's a great thing if there is competition. Ultimately my objective is to get a quality product in the hands of the children. I have set the benchmark, it has changed the mindset of the world, I can tell you that," the minister said.

Everybody wants to produce a tablet which is of quality and which is reasonably affordable, he noted. "So if the whole world wants to produce, I don't care who produces, if ultimately it is produced by somebody for children," he added. The Aakash tablet is priced at approximately $49 (Rs 2,414).

Display your social media icons prominently toward the top of your website: Make it as simple as possible for your blog readers to connect with you on various social media platforms. They shouldn’t have to hunt around to find your Twitter handle, but should be able to click on a button and be taken right to your profile. Bonus points if your social media icons reflect the overall design or feel of your blog.

Every blog should have its own Facebook Page: Even with Facebook’s new subscription feature, there’s still merit to giving your blog its own space on Facebook. It’s nice to be able to post a link every time you publish something new, and not have to worry about annoying your friends. Plus, readers who don’t your name but know the name of your blog can search for it on Facebook. Show your fans some love on your blog by using the Facebook social plugin, which makes it easy to convert readers to fans.

Generate traffic with StumbleUpon: This “recommendation engine” serves as an alternate browser where users click through pages that their SU friends and SU itself have recommended. You can submit your own blog posts into the system, but it works best if you also share them with your SU friends and accept their shares back. Like most social platforms, you need to have a strong following to get good results. While people are still trying to figure out what makes SU content go viral, many bloggers have seen terrific, albeit fleeting, traffic spikes through the service.

Import your RSS feed onto your LinkedIn profile using its Blog Link application: As long as your blog somewhat pertains to your professional goals, you should be showcasing it on LinkedIn. List it as one of your three websites in your profile, where it will be labeled “Blog.” However, by using the Blog Link application, your most recent posts will display right on your profile.

Pinterest is the hot new frontier for bloggers: Pinterest is the cool new kid, and all of the bloggers are scrambling to establish a presence there. Pin your best photos onto themed boards with links to a relevant blog post. Blogs with strong visual content, like fashion, food, design, crafts and travel, are a natural fit. Infographics will also do quite well. Don’t forget to add a Pinterest plugin (like the Pinterest “Pin It” Button for WordPress users) to make it easy for your readers to share your content on their Pinterest boards.

Use link shorteners even when you don’t have to: Twitter will now shorten your link for you, and the length of your link doesn’t matter on Facebook and Google+. But by using a link shortener like bit.ly, you will gain access to metrics, so you’ll know how many people clicked and at what time. With this essential data, you can experiment with different ways to tease your content and different times to post it.

Use your blog name as your username whenever possible: Promote your personal brand by consistently using your blog’s name for your Twitter handle, StumbleUpon name, Pinterest name and so on. Then, people don’t have to wonder about your blog’s name — it’s right there. Also, people will remember you easily across platforms, which is key as you develop up your online community.

Join blogger groups on Facebook: There are some very active groups on Facebook that are terrific resources for any blogging issues you encounter. Look for groups like “Travel Bloggers” or “Global Bloggers Network.” WordPress geeks have “Advanced WordPress” and Central Florida residents have “Central Florida Bloggers.” Not only are blogger groups good for problem-solving, but it’s well-known that bloggers like to read other blogs. Do some searching and find a bloggers group that’s suited to you, or start your own!

Be generous with other bloggers: Promote other bloggers’ content, and hopefully they’ll return the favor. You can’t simply blast your own content anyway - you need some variety in every social media stream. So why not check out what your fellow bloggers are posting and give them a retweet, a share or a repin whenever you can. And don’t forget to reciprocate and share content from bloggers who share yours.

Be on social media - even when it’s not driving traffic: It can be frustrating when you feel that you’re doing everything right (posting good content on the appropriate platforms in the best way possible) and you’re still not getting many clicks. But console yourself by thinking about all of the links that you see throughout the day that you don’t click on. Just spending time on social media platforms is great way to forge relationships, keep up on industry news and find inspiration for that next blog post.

According to a report in Taiwan's DigiTimes,Google is readying the launch of Android 5.0 dubbed Jelly Bean in the second quarter of this year.

The report, quoting Taiwan-based supply chain makers, reveals that Google is reportedly asking users to adopt Android 5.0 and Windows 8 in the same tablet PC. Software giant Microsoft is scheduled to unveil a test version of its Windows 8 operating software later this month.

While Android 4.0 brings a bunch of new features for tablets as well as smartphones, Android 5.0 is likely to be further optimized for tablet PCs. The report states that Google plans to integrate its Chrome system functions to push dual-operating system designs.

The report further claims that Google will let vendors add Android 5.0 to a Windows 8-based tablet or notebook, giving them the option to switch between the operating systems without a reboot.

While most of the Android phone manufacturers have updated their Ice Cream Sandwich release schedules, it is yet to see how the OS climbs in popularity in comparison to its closest rival Apple's iOS 5.

Among other things, Android 4.0 offers a brand new font system called Roboto; lets users take screenshots without rooting the smartphone or installing any third-party apps and transcribes words instantly into text.

The current OS also features Android Beam, based on NFC (Near Field Communication) which allows two Android smartphones to securely exchange Web pages, contacts, media or even applications.

The Facebook app is similar to the original mobile version, with the addition of social components, brand new power-ups, and exclusive new levels. The added social aspect allows players to compete with their Facebook friends for gold, silver, and bronze crowns in any level. Players can also brag about their scores on the social network and give their Facebook friends "mystery gifts" of power-ups.

The Facebook version includes four new power-ups, including "sling scope" (for better targeting), "king sling" (for more power and velocity), "super seeds" (to supersize your bird, turning it into a "pig popping giant"), and "birdquake" (to shake the battlefield and bring down pigs' defenses). Besides being gifted with power-ups, players can earn them through game play or purchase them.
And - even better - anyone who plays the game between now and Feb. 16 will receive 14 free power-ups as a special Valentine's Day gift from Angry Birds developer Rovio.
Rovio said it is lining up even more features and gameplay for the Facebook version of the game in the coming weeks.

"This launch is just the beginning for Angry Birds on Facebook," Petri Järvilehto, Rovio's senior vice president of game publishing, said in a statement.

The mobile version of Angry Birds has garnered more than 700 million downloads to date, making it one of the most popular games in history.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India ( TRAI) had last month asked operators to ensure that subscribers are informed every time an amount is deducted from their account for different services adding that they should be provided a detailed bill for a price not exceeding Rs. 50.

The operators were given a deadline of 45 days.

"'Prepaid My Account' is a simple, secure and convenient way for Airtel prepaid mobile customers to access a whole host of functionalities including checking balance, recharging, starting or stopping VAS services (value added services) etc," Airtel, the first firm to come up with this service, said in a statement.

"Airtel prepaid mobile customers can visit the new self care website to receive and activate customized offers on 'My Airtel, My Offer' (MAMO), view tariff and top up options, request for the itemized bill and more," it added.

Customers can also view last 5 recharge details.

So far, there was no regulatory guideline to provide pre-paid customers itemized bills who had no record of their calls and other services.

The new tablet features a 7-inch screen to cater for the smaller tablet lover, but more importantly is running on Ice Cream Sandwich (or Android 4.0) and may well be the first from the company to bring the next generation platform.

The rest of the technical specs are less exciting: we're looking at a 1GHz dual core processor running under the hood, with a 3MP camera on the rear.

Samsung has overlaid the Ice Cream Sandwich platform with its own TouchWiz UI too, and video calling will be supported through a VGA front-facing sensor.

The screen might not be too shabby it seems, as while it's 'only' LCD (rather than the fancy-pants Super AMOLED offerings from the Korean firm) the resolution of 1024x600 should be enough to keep users complaining of fuzzy displays.

Other key specs that don't seem to have moved things on much in a year and a half include: 1GB of RAM and the choice of up to 32GB internal memory.

Intriguingly, Samsung is referring to the device as the Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) in its press materials, so it seems likely we'll be getting larger variants of the same device in the same way as the Motorola Xoom 2 has been offered.

Thomas Richter, Samsung's director of portfolio management, told TechRadar: "Since 2010 we have been bringing the Galaxy Tab range. In 2012, we believe that people want to experience more on the go."

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 UK release date has been set for March, so expect to see our full review up any time soon.

Just type in this maths equation in the Google searchbar: "sqrt(cos(x))*cos(300x)+sqrt(abs(x))-0.7)*(4-x*x)^0.01, sqrt(6-x^2), -sqrt(6-x^2) from -4.5 to 4.5" and wait for the magic to unfold.

A beautiful heart appears on your screen, sans paint or brush. The only catch is that it works inGoogle Chrome and does not support Internet Exlorer.

According to Mashable which was tipped about the trick by a user, "The "cos(300x)" part of the formula was also written to make the line go quickly up and down as it traces out the interior of the heart. This creates the colored-in effect. Meanwhile, if you change the "300" number in the equation to "500," the color fills up the heart. That part of the formula is related to frequency."

Where’s My Android
Ever lost your phone and you go to call it to listen for the ringer and remember its on silent mode? Now when you lost it you can text your phone and it will turn silent mode off, the ringer volume up, and start ringing. Where’s My Android is awesome! It helps you find your phone when the ringer is turned all the way down or on vibrate.

Once the app is set up, there is nothing more you need to do for it to work. There are a only a few settings: choose the attention words, set a custom ringtone if you have the paid version and tell it how long you want it to continue ringing assuming you haven’t located your phone.

2. Mobile Defense Android App

Mobile Defense, put simply, helps you protect your Android phone in case it’s lost or stolen. The app runs quietly in the background of your device, using a negligible amount of memory and battery power (in fact, its creator says the program employs practically no resources unless you’re actively using it).

When you install the app, you set up a secure account that allows you to log on from the Mobile Defense Web site. Then, anytime you can’t find your phone, you simply sign in, click “Connect to Phone,” and you’re locked into your Android device.

Mobile Defense will pinpoint your phone’s location down to an exact address, even displaying it for you on an embedded interactive map. Within the same dashboard, you can remotely lock or unlock your phone and sound a loud “scream” (think obnoxious car alarm noise) through your phone’s speaker.
With the release of Logitech's M600 Touch Mouse, the idea of putting a touch surface on a mouse is officially old hat—we've seen this trick done several times, at varying degrees of proficiency.

The touch mouse to beat is currently the Editors' Choice Microsoft Touch Mouse. We got to spend some time using the new Logitech mouse, and while we'll reserve our ratings for a full review, it's hard to deny that the M600 Touch Mouse is one of the better touch-enabled mice we've used.
The Logitech M600 Touch Mouse is a wireless optical mouse, and it connects wirelessly through a USB nano-receiver, small enough to plug in and leave it for daily use. Plus, thanks to Logitech's Unifying Receiver technology, you can connect up to five additional wireless Logitech products through this one receiver, leaving the rest of your ports free. The shape of the mouse allows it to be used with either right or left hands, with the necessary adjustments available in the accompanying SetPoint software utility.

The touch functionality is reasonably straightforward. You can right and left click, as with any normal mouse, and the mouse clicks with buttons, so there's no need to relearn how to do a basic click. Scrolling up and down is also simple, done just as you would with a physical scroll wheel, but by sliding your finger tip across the surface of the mouse. Plus, because you're using a smooth touch surface instead of a wheel, you can scroll horizontally as well. In our brief time with the mouse, the only function that gave us any difficulty was the horizontal scrolling. When scrolling through a collection of photos, it worked just fine, flipping from one image to the next with each swipe of a finger. When browsing the Web, on the other hand, it lets you jump forward and back, and navigate through Web pages without having to use the forward and back buttons in your browser.

Getting it set up is easy: Put in the batteries and plug in the small USB wireless adapter. The drivers load quickly, and you're good to go. Logitech's SetPoint utility can also be downloaded to provide fine-tuned control over the settings and features of the mouse.

Selling for a suggested retail price of $69.99, the Logitech M600 is similar in price to the Apple Magic Mouse, but costs more than most other competitors, like the Microsoft Explorer Touch Mouse or the Verbatim Wireless Optical Touch Mouse. Logitech also covers the M600 Touch Mouse with a 3-year limited warranty on the hardware.

The M600 Touch Mouse is available for pre-order through Logitech's Web site, and will be shipping later this month.

The catch? Google will track all the sites you visit.

The Web giant quietly launched a new program, called Screenwise, in which users are being offered up to $25 in gift cards to share with Google the Web sites they visit and how they use them. Google is building a panel of participants to "learn more about how everyday people use the Internet," the company said on its sign-up page.

Participants install a Web browser extension that shares all their browsing activities with Google. In exchange for revealing such information, participants are given a $5 Amazon.com gift card upon signing up, then another gift card every three months while in the program, until they earn a maximum of $25. Amazon.com is not a sponsor of the promotion, Google said.

"What we learn from you, and others like you, will help us improve Google products and services and make a better online experience for everyone," the company said.

In a statement sent to PCMag on Wednesday, a Google spokeswoman said the program is completely optional. Individuals can participate as long as they want, and leave at any time.

"Like many other Web and media companies, we do panel research to help better serve our users by learning more about people's media use, on the Web and elsewhere," the spokeswoman said. "This panel is one such small project that started near the beginning of the year… Everyone who does participate has complete transparency and control over what Internet use is being included in the panel."

Those who are interested in participating can enter their email address at Google's sign-up page. To be eligible, users must be at least 13 years old, have a Google Account, and use the Google Chrome Web browser.

Google said it will not save users' email addresses or associate them with any other personally identifiable information.

The new program comes as Google faces increasing criticism over upcoming changes to its privacy policy. The Web giant plans on March 1 to implement a new, unified privacy policy, consolidating 70 or so policies across its products down to one, and logging data for Google users that are signed in.

The Electronic Privacy Information Center on Wednesday sued to stop the forthcoming changes. This time to salute master blaster Sachin Tendulkar through a music video. The 28-year-old, who is riding high on the success of Tanglish song, says he is honoured to croon for 'India's pride' Tendulkar in a Boost commercial.

"It's a great honour to sing for a legend like Sachin Tendulkar. I am happy that I have been chosen to do this. He is the pride of our nation. When I was offered to do the song I didn't think twice and just knew that I had to do it. I have really worked hard on the song and I hope people enjoy it," Dhanush said.

The actor also said he hasn't met Sachin to tell him about the song and doubts if he knows him.
"No I haven't met Sachin... I don't think he knows me or that I am singing a song for him but I hope he likes the song," Dhanush added. The son-in-law of superstar Rajinikanth, Dhanush also says he is not nervous about the Sachin anthem and hopes it matches in the popularity with 'Kolaveri Di'.

"I am not nervous about it... I don't think about what people expect out of me and just believe in working hard and giving my best. When I recorded 'Kolaveri Di' I had never thought it will become such a big hit... I had just put in my best in the song. I am just doing this song for Sachin and his fans," he said. The video, shot at various locations in Hyderabad, is expected to go on air soon.

Dhanush, who is making his Bollywood debut in Anand Rai's 'Ranjhna', said he hasn't started shooting for the film yet and it will begin in June. "I don't think of it (the film) as my first Bollywood movie but my 24th Indian film. I am thrilled to work in a new culture, with new people and new language. A lot of faith has been put in me by Anand Rai ji and I don't want to let him down. I don't know how will I be accepted by the audience here but I just want to do justice to my character.

"I haven't started shooting yet it will begin in June. I am not nervous and am not expecting anything from it. I just want to live up to the expectations of my director," Dhanush said. The actor also thanks 'Kolaveri Di' for bringing him out of Rajinikanth's shadow and helping him make his own identity.

"'Kolaveri Di' helped me move out of my father-in-laws shadow and make my own identity. There is a lot of pressure on me because of his status and stature and I have to consider a lot of things before taking up a project. Thankfully, I was acting even before I got married so people know my capabilities and don't draw comparisons," Dhanush said.

The smartphone, called 'ADzero', is expected to launch later this year. Made from four-year-old organically grown bamboo that has been treated to improve its durability, the phone runs Google's Android operating system.

Kieron Scott-Woodhouse, from Shepherds Bush in London, designed the phone because he was frustrated that so many existing models looked similar to each other.

He is a student of Middlesex University. A technology entrepreneur had contacted him after he posted designs online.

The phone was initially intended for the Chinese market but an enthusiastic reception in Britain means it will go on sale in design retailers later this year, the newspaper said.

Experts say that the key is to understand each of the terms and policies before you sign in.

How is data retained?
The data retention policy allows the online provider to hold personal information about you. But the question is, for how long will they hold your data? "Data, here includes personal information such as your name, address , date of birth, photographs and transaction information such as when did you last log into your account, from which device, from which IP address, whose profiles did you visit etc," says Sunil Abraham, executive director of the Centre for Internet and Society.

It's ridiculous to ask "what bits of the privacy policy" should you read, says Graham Cluely, a senior consultant with security software developer Sophos. "Because the only sensible answer is 'all of it.' Only you can decide if you're comfortable with it, so read it and you decide."

What are the legal implications?
It is important to understand under what circumstances will the website share your personal information with the Central and State government agencies.

For instance, Facebook would have to share your information with the Ministry of Home Affairs since Facebook has an office in Hyderabad and comes under the purview of the Indian IT Act.

"But Twitter could deny user information to the Egyptian government during the 2011 Arab protests as it did not fall under the Egyptian jurisdiction," says Sunil Abraham.

What happens after your account is deleted?
Experts say that deleting your account is not the end of it all as social networks usually store your personal information even after you delete the account.

For instance, Google stores your data for nearly nine months even after you delete your GMail account. Similarly, Twitter stores your IP address and personal information for a certain period after you delete your account.

What personal data is shared with private organisations
Apart from the information you share while creating the account, social networks also process and share personal data such as photographs, likes and events with their business partners and social-media analytics and monitoring agencies.

"So the basic rule is don't upload anything to the internet which you don't want your mother-in-law or your boss to see, as you can't necessarily trust the various sites to keep them securely," says Graham Cluely. "Further, think carefully about what other information you may be sharing online - such as your location" .

What can an individual do?
The easiest thing is to customise every aspect of your privacy policy, according computer security firm Kaspersky Labs. For instance, on social networks such Google Plus, Facebook and Twitter, you may limit the information you display to certain groups of people.

"India needs to have a broad and horizontal law that establishes online privacy as a right. Unlike in European countries, India doesn't have a privacy commissioner who can state the principles, interpret the data and question the online providers," says Sunil Abraham.

The Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation is planning to take its authorised agents to doorsteps of passengers to provide better service and improve occupancy ratio. According to RTC officials, of the 61 lakh tickets available per month for sale for 5,700 bus services, they are only able to sell 15 lakh tickets. Of these, 6 lakh tickets are sold through agents and the remaining through booking centres.

The APSRTC has 820 authorised ticket booking agents in the state, who are appointed through tender system and in selected places.

The officials feel that to sell the remaining 45 lakh tickets, they would have to liberalise the setup and accordingly they are planning to appoint agents without calling tenders and make them deliver tickets at the doorsteps of passengers. At present the corporation is getting Rs 16 crore through sale of tickets and paying Rs 63 lakh as commission to agents.

Recently, APSRTC introduced Volvo, Garuda, Indra and Vennela buses and now it wants to increase occupancy of these new services and the existing ones.

With the corporation reportedly incurring losses of Rs 362 crore, an RTC official said the new system of delivering tickets at the houses of passengers would help to improve occupancy rates and improve revenue collections.

According to South Korean title Electronic Times News, the new phone will reportedly come in a package that's just 7mm thin, making it one of the thinnest on the market.

However, it wouldn't be THE thinnest, thanks to the Huawei Ascend P1 S, which launched to great (ish) fanfare at CES this year popping up at 6.68mm thick.

PCB thin-win
Printed circuit boards will allow the phone to be made up to 20% thinner according to the title, with the Galaxy S3 development team in place for nearly a year already in its quest to stay ahead of / topple the iPhone (depending on which report you read).

The media outlet also stated the Samsung Galaxy S3 release date has been set for May, which would likely put it slightly ahead of the iPhone 5 launch and allow Samsung to create some early hype for its flagship phone.

There's very little else in terms of specs or details on when Samsung will actually announce the 'delayed' phone – but it seems the notions that it will be a quad-core behemoth with a larger Super AMOLED HD screen and Ice Cream Sandwich are pretty much nailed on.
