«Τους "ανακάλυψα" στο τέλος της ημέρας. Ημουν όλη μέρα στα ερείπια και έβλεπα τους διασώστες αλλά και πολίτες να βγάζουν τραυματισμένους εργάτες από τα συντρίμμια. Θυμάμαι ακόμα τα τρομαγμένα μάτια των συγγενών. Ημουν εξαντλημένη, τόσο πνευματικά όσο και σωματικά.

Ξαφνικά, ανακάλυψα το ζευγάρι αυτό, αγκαλιασμένο στα ερείπια. Το αίμα από τα μάτια του άνδρα έτρεχε σαν δάκρυ. Όταν τους είδα δεν μπορούσα να το πιστέψω. Τους αισθάνθηκα σαν δικούς μου ανθρώπους. Τους έβλεπα τις τελευταίες τους στιγμές να κάθονται έτσι αγκαλιασμένοι, προσπαθώντας ό ένας να σώσει τον άλλο.

Κάθε φορά που κοιτάζω αυτή την φωτογραφία, αισθάνομαι άβολα. Με έχει στοιχειώσει. Είναι σα να μου λένε. Δεν είμαστε ακόμα δυο πτώματα. Δεν είμαστε φτηνά εργατικά χέρια και φτηνές ζωές. Είμαστε άνθρωποι σαν κι εσάς. Η ζωή μας είναι πολύτιμη και τα όνειρά μας το ίδιο».

Endeavour: Last flight

This is an impressive photo by an aircraft passenger flying relatively close to the Kennedy International Space Station. The pilot made an announcement during the flight to the passengers to look out of the windows to the East. It was the Endeavour taking off for the last time in history. A passenger took out the cell phone and got this picture. It has become so popular that the Associated Press bought them!

No comments needed here! Everyone is probably familiar with the place.

I still have memories from the era before the new Limassol-Paphos motorway was build where we had to travel along the coast in a narrow road to get to Paphos from Limassol. The journey used to take between 1-2hrs while it takes only 30-40 mins now when using the motorway.

Back then the scenery shown in the Pictures was there to accompany and reward the travellers.

Lately I came into the habit of Cyprus Coffee rather than any other instant, filter or pressure steam coffees.

While abroad my mornings now have a taste from Cyprus, a taste to remind me of home! Have a nice day everyone!

Soichi Noguchi is a Japanese aeronautical engineer and a JAXA astronaut. He is currently in space as part of the Soyuz TMA-17 crew and Expedition 23 to the International Space Station. Ever since he got to his last mission he kept on posting photos from the earth and moon as seen from the ISS on his twitter.
