Wannabe industry analysts might sign up for TechDirt’s Insight Community, a marketplace for ideas about technology marketing.
2. Sell photos on stock photography sites. If people regularly oooo and aaaaah over your Flickr pics, maybe you’re destined for photographic greatness or maybe just for a few extra dollars. It’s easier than ever to get your photos out in front of the public, which of course means a tremendous amount of competition, but also means it might be an convenient way for you to build up a secondary income stream. Where can you upload and market your photos? Try Fotolia, Dreamstime, Shutterstock, and Big Stock Photo.

- Once chosen simply click on what you want to download and then back at the top click Review Download Basket

- You are taken to the next page where at the top you can specify where the downloads are to be saved.

- Click Download now. Each patch will make a directory under the root of the folder you saved them to.
Once finished you need to go to where you saved the file (s) to and then simply install all your patches.

When you download photos from your digital camera, they often have unrecognizable names. You can rename several similar files at once with the following procedure. This also works for renaming other types of files.

1.Open the My Pictures folder. (Click Start, and then click My Pictures.) Or open another folder containing files that you want to rename.

2.Select the files you want to rename. If the files you want are not adjacent in the file list, press and hold CTRL, and then click each item to select it.

3.On the File menu, click Rename.

4.Type the new name, and then press ENTER.

All of the files in the series will be named in sequence using the new name you type. For example, if you type Birthday, the first will be named Birthday and subsequent files in the series will be named Birthday (1), Birthday (2), and so on. To specify the starting number for the series, type the starting number in parentheses after the new file name. The files in the series will be numbered in sequence starting with the number you type. For example, if you type Birthday (10), the other files will be named Birthday (11), Birthday (12), and so on.

If you have opened more than one program, you might like to display and use the Quick Launch bar. The Quick Launch bar makes it easy to access frequently used programs like Windows Media Player and your e-mail, and to open an Internet Explorer window. Windows XP loads several programs in the Quick Launch, including Show Desktop. One click on Show Desktop minimizes all the programs on your desktop. Another click restores them just as you'd left them.

To display Quick Launch on the taskbar

1. If the Quick Launch bar is not displayed, right-click an empty area on the taskbar and click Properties.
2. On the Taskbar tab, under Taskbar appearance, select the Show Quick Launch check box and click OK.
After Quick Launch is displayed, click Show Desktop to minimize all open programs.

this ones simple:
this is for broad band connections. I didn’t try it on dial up but might work for dial up.
1.make sure your logged on as actually "Administrator". do not log on with any account that just has administrator privileges.
2. start - run - type gpedit.msc
3. expand the "local computer policy" branch
4. expand the "administrative templates" branch
5. expand the "network branch"
6. Highlight the "QoS Packet Scheduler" in left window
7. in right window double click the "limit reservable bandwidth" setting
8. on setting tab check the "enabled" item
9. where it says "Bandwidth limit %" change it to read 0
reboot if you want to but not necessary on some systems your all done. Effect is immediate on some systems. some need re-boot. I have one machine that needs to reboot first, the others didn't. Don't know why this is.

This is more of a "counter what XP does" thing. In other words, XP seems to want to reserve 20% of the bandwidth for its self. Even with QoS disabled, even when this item is disabled. So why not use it to your advantage. To demonstrate the problem with this on stand alone machines start up a big download from a server with an FTP client. Try to find a server that doesn't max out your bandwidth. In this case you want a slow to medium speed server to demonstrate this. Let it run for a couple of minutes to get stable. The start up another download from the same server with another instance of your FTP client. You will notice that the available bandwidth is now being fought over and one of the clients download will be very slow or both will slow down when they should both be using the available bandwidth. Using this "tweak" both clients will have a fair share of the bandwidth and will not fight over the bandwidth.

When you search for a file in Windows Windows searches only for file types it

recognizes. Files that aren't listed in the 'Registered file types' list are ignored.
Fortunately, a simple edit of the Registry will make Windows search for every file,
regardless of its extension. Open the Registry Editor as described above, and then
navigate to and select:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ContentIndex.
Double-click the FilterFilesWithUnknownExtensions icon in the right pane, change
the 0 in the 'Value data' box to 1, and press Enter.

To ensure that Windows XP searches for every possible file, select All Files and
Folders under 'Type of file' in the Search Companion pane. (If you don't see this
option, click More Advanced Options.) Check Search system folders, Search hidden
files and folders, and Search subfolders (as desired). In Windows 2000, click Search
Options, check Type, and make sure that (All Files and Folders) is selected in the
resulting drop-down menu. Check Advanced Options, and make sure Search
Subfolders is checked. Finally, to ensure that Windows 2000 finds system and hidden

How TO Repair A Windows XP....

* Make sure the BIOS is set to boot from the CD (put the CD above the HD in the boot order)

* Insert the XP CD and boot to it

* When you see " To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER", go ahead and press ENTER

* You will now see an option to repair Windows by pressing "R". Do not select this option - it will only take you to the Recovery Console which is not what we want to do. Instead, choose to continue the installation

* When you see the license agreement, press F8 to agree

* On the next screen make sure your current XP installation is selected and then press "R" to repair XP

* At this point XP will begin to install on top of itself, replacing damaged, missing or altered system files. Follow the instructions on the remaining screens to complete the Repair Install. It will look very much like a normal (new) OS installation.

If all goes well your repaired XP installation will remain iintact, keeping your personalized settings and installed programs as they originally were. Remember, choose the second repair option, not the first.

Fix your Slow XP and 98 Network

You can run "wmiprvse.exe" as a process for quick shared network access
to Win98/ME machines. Stick it in Startup or make it a service.
"On the PC running XP, log in as you normally would, go to users, man
age network passwords.
Here is where the problem lies. In this dialog box remove any win98 p
asswords or computer-assigned names for the win98 PCs. In my case , I had
two computer-assigned win98 pc names in this box (example G4k8e6). I del
eted these names (you may have passwords instead). Then go to My Network
Places and -- there you go! -- no more delay!
Now, after I did this and went to My Network Places to browse the first
Win98 PC, I was presented with a password/logon box that looked like this:
logon: G4k8e6/guest (lightly grayed out) and a place to enter a password.
I entered the password that I had previously used to share drives on the Wi
n98 PCs long before I installed XP. I have the guest account enabled in XP.
This solves the problem for Win98 & XP machines on a LAN; I can't guar
antee it will work for Win2K/ME machines as well, but the whole secret lie
s in the passwords. If this doesn't solve your slow WinXP>Win98 access pro
blems, then you probably have other things wrong. Don't forget to uncheck
'simple file sharing,' turn off your ICS firewall, enable NetBIOS over TCP
/IP and install proper protocols, services & permissions."

A very important new feature in Microsoft Windows XP is the ability to do a boot defragment. This basically means that all boot files are placed next to each other on the disk drive to allow for faster booting. By default this option is enabled but some upgrade users have reported that it isn't on their setup.

1. Start Regedit.
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Dfrg\BootOptimizeFunction
3. Select Enable from the list on the right.
4. Right on it and select Modify.
5. Change the value to Y to enable and N to disable.
6. Reboot your computer.

Step 1 : Unpack the file. Zip just downloaded and connect via SSH to your iPhone.

Step 2 : Copy the entire folder “VideoToggle” in the following location: “private / var / tmp”

Step 3 : Run Mobile Terminal on iPhone and type these commands:

bash /private/var/tmp/VideoToggle/install

Step 4 : Will be made of processes, and finally there will be a Respring. At this point SBSettings open and see a new Toggle (in red) called VideoToggle.

When the toggle is off, you can record Videos and save them in a film camera. When want to modify and cut them, you must activate the toggle and go exactly with iPhone 3GS! You can then select the part you want and then click the Cut button on the upper right.Also, if the toggle is ON, you wont be able to use the photo camera. Turn it OFF, and you’ll get your camera back.

This guide will show you how to make a Dual Boot 10.5.X OSX86 System with WINDOWS VISTA . Use this guide with your favourite distro { Kalyway | iAtkos | Leo4all | Jas | iDeneb | iPC }

1. First of all you have to install Vista. It’s easy and I m sure that you are familiar with it.

2. Now comes to Partitioning before installing OSX you need to have a partition of minimum 10 GB recommended 20 GB+ . The partition must be formatted as FAT-32 Primary Partition.

You can use Partition Magic or Gparted live cd or Windows Disk Management.

3. Boot into Windows installation and open Command Prompt { Start < All Program < Accessories < Command prompt } With Administrative Privillage and run following commands.

4. In command prompt type DISKPART and press enter . Here we are using DISKPART for making HFS compatible Partition.
Command Preface
DISKPART> list disk ” This will show you a list of selectable disks. “

DISKPART> select disk n [where n = the disk number]
This will specify which disk to create a new partition on
DISKPART> create partition primary size=n id=af [where n = the size in MB of the partition, For 20 gb space n will be 20000 ]
[where af = hfs+ compatible]
Will proceed to create a bootable primary partition for the Mac
DISKPART> list partition ” This command will show you the partitions on your selected disk “

DISKPART> select partition n [where n = the newly created OSX partition]
This will specify the partition
DISKPART> active ” This will make your OS X partition the first-boot active partition “

DISKPART> Exit Exit from DiskPart………..

5. In Windows Vista you must disable User Account Control [ UAC ].

6. Put your DVD in rom and restart your computer with the DVD in Drive,now you should see Darwin load screen.

7. As counting starts press F8 key and you will be able to have some more option’s.

8. Now type -V and press enter now enterd in VERBOSE mode here you are able to see any error if your screen freezes for more than 15 minutes than note last three lines and google them to find out a solution for your problem. If every thing goes fine after 15-30 minutes installation screen appear’s hold your breath we are not quit yet here.

9. On the top a menu bar appears click Utilities >> Disk Utility.

10. Here select the destination drive where u want to install Mac OSX.

11. Now click on ERASE on right hand side and under the format option select
” MAC OSX Journaled Extended ” and click Erase. Now the disk will be erased and mounted once this done you are very near to near to your destination.

12. Now close the disk utility and click on the partition which you created at previous
Step.

13. Now the most important section Customize in this section you can customize the installation option choose wisely make a search at wiki.osx86project.org & Insanelymac.com with your hardware configuration & find successful installation combination.For most of the INTEL based systems Vanilla Kernel works very smoothly & for AMD system try Voodoo kernel.It is also recommended to remove all the extra unnecessary languages as they take up about 2 gigs.

14. Now your disk will be checked for consistency than installaion begins. It will take 30-45 minute’s as your hardware.

15. Once the installation finishes, reboot with the DVD in the drive. Press F8 at Darwin Boot Loader and type -s and press enter.

* Execute the following commands :

fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0
flag 1
quit
reboot

16. Now before the PC restarts remove the DVD. At this point you should be able to boot into Vista normally.

Now you have two option’s Boot with Darwin Bootloader or use VISTA bootloader.

For Darwin bootloader follow these instruction.

If you want to use darwin bootloader than skip the step 15.
Darwin has its own dual-boot menu which is easy to activate, just press F8 on your keyboard before the Darwin boot loader prompt and Apple boot logo.The dual-boot menu might appear by itself depending on whether or not the install disc automatically sets the time-out period for you.
If you want to create a time-out that will allow you to select which OS to boot from without pressing F8, follow these instructions:

Firstly, load up Terminal (Applications/Utilities/) from within OS X, then type:
sudo nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

edit the Darwin time-out flag accordingly:

Put the Vista Installation Disc into your DVD drive and restart to boot from it. Click Repair System, press next and then select Command Prompt Type DISKPART and press Enter.
Command Preface
DISKPART> list disk ” This will show you a list of selectable disks. “

DISKPART> select disk n [where n = the disk number]
Select the disk which Windows Vista is installed to
DISKPART> list partition This will show you the partitions on your selected disk

DISKPART> select partition n [where n = the Windows Vista partition]
This will specify the partition
DISKPART> active Will make your Windows Vista partition the first-boot active partition

DISKPART> Exit Exit from DiskPart………..

Reboot into Windows Vista.
Next, you can either follow the command line BCDEDIT instructions below, or use EasyBCD.

Copy CHAIN0 from your Mac OS X partition or Installation Disc to the root of your Vista partition C:\.

For Vista Bootloader you can also use BCD-EDIT.

1) Boot into Vista. Copy the chain0 file from the Leopard DVD to C:

2) Open the “Command prompt” with “Elevated Admin” privileges from the Start Menu.

3) Type the following into the prompt

bcdedit /copy {current} /d “Mac OS X”
bcdedit /enum active
bcdedit /set {GUID} PATH \chain0

4) In the first command type {current} as it is, literally..nothing else..just {current} with the brackets. In the 3rd command however, replace the {GUID} with the alphanumeric GUID you see in the enumerated list under MAC OS X. You can see this list on your terminal as soon as you type the 2nd command above.

5) Close the Command Prompt and Restart Vista.

6) You Should now be looking at a screen with two options to boot into Mac OSX or Vista.

Select Mac OSX to see if you can boot into it. You should see the familiar Darwin boot Loading screen with the timer going down. If you dont do anything, then it counts to zero and again shows the menu screen with Vista and MAC OSX options. Dont panic!

Again select MAC OS X, and now as the timer counts down, Press F8. You would see a list of partitions on your disk with their names. Select the partition with MAC OSX installed by using up/down arrows and press ENTER.

Make Web Pages Available for Offline Viewing

With Internet Explorer 6 in Windows XP, you can make a Web page available offline and view it when your computer is not connected to the Internet—for example on your laptop during a flight. This feature is also handy for viewing Web pages at home without tying up a phone line if you have a dial–up Internet connection.

To make the current Web page available offline

On the Favorites menu, click Add to Favorites.

Select the Make available offline check box.

To specify a schedule for updating that page, and how much content to download, click Customize.

Follow the instructions on your screen.
To make an existing favorite item available offline

On the Favorites menu, click Organize Favorites.

Click the page you want to make available offline.

Select the Make available offline check box.

To specify a schedule for updating that page, and how much content to download, click Properties.
To view Web pages without being connected to the Internet

After you mark your favorite pages for viewing offline, you can view them offline by following these steps

Before you disconnect from the Internet, on the Tools menu, click Synchronize.

When you're ready to work offline, on the File menu, click Work Offline. Internet Explorer will always start in Offline mode until you click Work Offline again to clear the check mark.

In your Favorites list, click the item you want to view.
You can also make Web pages available offline without adding them to your Favorites list, by saving the pages on your computer.

Follow these steps

On the File menu, click Save As.

Double–click the folder you want to save the page in.

In the File name box, type a name for the page.

In the Save as type box, select a file type.

Do one of the following:

To save all of the files needed to display this page, including graphics, frames, and style sheets, click Web Page, complete. This option saves each file in its original format.

To save all of the information needed to display this page in a single MIME–encoded file, click Web Archive. This option saves a snapshot of the current Web page. This option is available only if you have installed Outlook Express 5 or later. When you choose Web Page, complete, only the current page is saved. With Web Page, complete and Web Archive, you can view all of the Web page offline, without adding the page to your Favorites list and marking it for offline viewing.

To save just the current HTML page, click Web Page, HTML only. This option saves the information on the Web page, but it does not save the graphics, sounds, or other files.

To save just the text from the current Web page, click Text Only. This option saves the information on the Web page in straight text format.

Install Windows XP Professional - New Installation

There are three reasons why you may need to install a new copy of Windows XP:

Your current operating system doesn’t support an upgrade to Windows XP Professional.

*

Your current operating system supports an upgrade to Windows XP Professional, but you don’t want to keep your existing files and personalized settings.

*

Your computer does not have an operating system.

The setup process is similar for new installations and upgrades with a few notable exceptions. For example, during a new installation, you are able to configure Special Options, convert your file system, and create a new partition for the Windows XP installation.

IMPORTANT
A new installation deletes all programs or system files from a previous installation.

Special Options

Under Special Options, you have the choice to change Language, Advanced, and Accessibility settings during the setup process.

Note: If you are in a country that has recently adopted the euro as its currency, you may have to modify the currency settings to display monetary amounts correctly.

Unless you're an advanced user, it's recommended that you use the default settings.

Choosing a File System

During a new installation of Windows XP, you may have to choose which file system your computer should use. Windows XP Professional supports:

*

FAT32: An enhanced version of the file allocation table (FAT) system that is standard on all Windows operating systems starting with later (32-bit) versions of Windows 95. The FAT32 system can be used on large hard disks, from 512 megabytes (MB) to 32 gigabytes (GB).
*

NTFS: The NT file system (NTFS) is used with the Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP operating systems. NTFS provides enhanced reliability, stability, and security, and supports large hard disks of up to 2 terabytes (TB).

IMPORTANT
You can convert your file system any time, even after you install Windows XP, without losing any of your data.

The conversion to NTFS is one–way only; if you convert your FAT or FAT32 file system to NTFS you can’t convert your hard disk back to FAT later.

If you’re not sure which file system to use, keep the one your computer defaults to during Setup. If you want to change your file system, here are a few recommendations:

*

Use FAT32 if your hard disk is smaller than 32 GB.
*

Use FAT32 if you want to install more than one operating system on your computer.
*

Use NTFS if your hard drive is larger than 32 GB and you are running only one operating system on your computer.
*

Use NTFS if you want enhanced file security.
*

Use NTFS if you need better disk compression.

Disk Partitions

You can create partitions to organize information—for example, to back up data—or to install more than one operating system on your computer. A hard disk can contain up to four partitions.

If you’re performing a new installation, the appropriate disk partition is selected automatically during Windows XP Setup unless you click Advanced Options and specify your own requirements
