A Leap Of Faith

Eversince, I want God to show me what to do with my life. I mean His will for my life. Since I went back to Bicol last March 2012, I am really seeking God for His plans for me. I tend to become frustrated whenever my plans didn't go my way.

I really have the heart to work abroad, I mean just being practical. I have that desire, but I want it to be God's desire also for my life. It's a big bonus if it is really His will for me. Since then I dreamed of working in Western countries like Australia or Canada or even USA. My heart was so excited for those countries. But then I remember what Pastor Jun once told me, "Wag mo tulungan si God, kung Will Niya talaga sayo na makapunta ka ng Australia, eh makakapunta ka. Baka mafrustrate ka lang pag di nangyari. Let His will be done sa buhay mo." That's the thought of what Pastor Jun have said and I took it by heart. True enough. I've surrendered my plans on Him. I used to worry about my future but God always reminded me of His promise in Matthew 6:34 "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." True, right?

When 2013 came, I had in mind that I will someday apply for a job abroad, but I didn't even thought that it would be this soon. One of my churchmates, once told me that he had visions about me, but it's unclear, so he didn't told me about it. What he said was like this: " if may opportunity na dumating sa'yo, just grab it, as for now I know what you are pertaining to." A week or two after he said to me those lines, an opportunity came for me to apply abroad. I got excited and I ready my resume. But then I realized one thing, is this the opportunity that he has said to me? I considered it as a YES. It's a blessing from God. But the hard part is the country is Middle East. I don't want to go there ever since. I'm afraid of all the chaos that's happening out there. Then God reminded me again of His promise in Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." What a relief.

But then my heart was still not okay about the application, but I already took a leap of faith. So I asked God for people who will be with me in prayers. I challenged people and all glory to God they committed to be my prayer partners. Every time, they are updated of my application. Bit by bit, God's showing His provisions for me.

FINANCIAL PROVISIONS
At the time that I was applying, I am currently working as a job-order nurse in our local hospital in my hometown and I am earning a monthly allowance of 3,000-4,000. At first, I thought that my allowance would suffice the requirements that I need but I'm wrong. We have so many requirements but above all God provided all the needed money. Once I said to my prayer partners that I was saddened that I didn't get that week my allowance for June. But God is good,cause He has a purpose why He delayed that. I got my allowance on the first week of July and on that week we need to pay 2500php for redribbon and stamping of our COE. Blessings of God always strikes on time. Then I asked my prayer partners for a provision of 7000php (4k for my exam and 3k as my pocket money) as my money going to Manila. I will leave Manila by July 20 and on that 3rd week of July I still don't have that amount of money. My friend who is also my companion in applying abroad, always told me that she lacks still some amount of money. I just smiled at her and told her: "it's okay cause God will provide, I still don't have money on hand but I know God is faithful to give me that amount of money." You know what's amazing? On the 19th of July, my brother texted me that he already deposited 3k on my bank account. That's a great news, so I only need 4k. On the night on that same date my mother hand me the money, it's 5k. So I have 8k on hand. God gave me 1k bonus.

When I was already in Manila, I still needed more money for other requirements. I asked for an express rush of my PRC License ID. I needed money for medical exam,for the red ribbon of my PRC certificates and school documents, visa stamping, stamping of documents in the embassy, and 25k for the processing fee. You know what's really amazing, God never failed me or even delayed His provision.

I even thought that if I were rich maybe I didn't have to bother about money. But no! God made my present situation to work for His glory. Indeed my financial provisions were met!

WISDOM
Before we make it through, we should first pass the PROMETRICS, it's one of those online examinations for those who will work in Middle East. While I was still working in the hospital, I make sure that I divide my time for me to be able to review. I just praise God that even though I don't get much enough sleep every day, He make sure that I am still well fit for me to finish all the requirements that I need before going to Manila.

July 22 is the date of our examination, I was really nervous that time cause it's a 70 item exam and I don't know what questions would pop-up. I just let God guide me while I was in front of the computer. When I reached the last item, I'm still thinking if I would end it already or not.When I decided to click the end button, my heart was racing for I don't know if I would see the word in my screen. When I saw the word PASSED on my screen my heart was overjoyed and I utter these words THANKS GOD. Another provision met.

And as I am waiting for our papers to be released by POEA, I never forget to thank those people who have been with me through prayers. Our visa is ready.

On September 20 we had our PDOS (Pre-departure Orientation Seminar) and yesterday September 26 we headed back to the agency because we will meet our employer. I thank God for the favor because our employer is kind and he is trusted by the agency for many years. Our flight should be today September 27, but then POEA just released our OEC yesterday so our reservations was cancelled. But then blessings of God is there, it was rescheduled by September 30, but they made another reservation to make our flight earlier. So our final flight date is on September 29 at 4pm.

I am excited but then a little bit nervous because it's a closed country, a Muslim one, and a nation wherein chaos is present. But as I always pray, I still claim God's promise to me on Joshua 1:9 wherein He will always be with me wherever I go and I should never be afraid or discouraged. But then brethren I still want to ask you to please continue to pray for God's favor as I work abroad. Favor for the people that I will encounter, the culture changes, my adaptability and adjustment to their culture, good camaraderie with the Muslim people and Filipinos who are also working there, strength and endurance as I work abroad, strong faith and hope for me to keep going, and for me to be a blessing for the people I work with and to maximize what God has given me and be able to share my faith though the situation and the country that I am in is a Muslim country. I would really appreciate your prayers cause that would mean a lot to me.

Thank you. Many would think that this is the end of the journey, but I say that we are just beginning. As I look forward for God's greater plan for my life and how He would gonna use me to be part of His wide ministry, I am excited. As my friend said to me, that I should always have an excited heart for God. Even though I would earn in small amount, I did not care, for I know that in time God would bless me with greater things. I would not complain. I will just obey. God also gave me a start to be part of a ministry. I don't know how to budget everything for I owe people money that I used for my application. But I know God will give me wisdom on proper handling of my salary and though l would earn little, I still praise God for He made a way on how I can support someone with His blessing.

MY LIFE'S TESTIMONY

A Father's love is greater than anyone else. Like our parents they know us more than any person that we share our life with. They love us no matter what wrong we have done for them. All we need to do in order for us to be forgiven is ask for forgiveness and confess our mistakes. Our parents are willing to forgive us no matter what the cost is. Like our parents, God can do more of it than our parents can do for us. Remember how God gave his own own son in John 3:16 it says:

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

God awaits us to call on Him..How about you? Are you one of God's child?If not what are you waiting for? Call unto God and let Him be your Savior and the Controller of your life.

I will share you something, before when I am not still a Christian - a child of God, doing things I thought was right in this contemporary world was way far different or let say wrong when you know what God really wants you to do. It is a life changing event when you truly accept God and when you have a personal relationship with Him. As a non-believer, I believe in the name of God and His son Jesus. Wouldn't you believe it or not, but I have lots of questions before in my faith that I am believing in. Not until when I was on my 2nd year in college that I have encountered the word of God. It was on October 2006 when I accepted God in my life. I wouldn't consider it as an accident but God's plan for my life. He knew what I am looking for, and He knew that He is the answer to all my life's questions. It happened one afternoon when I will just pick up my friend Melody on their afternoon meet-up with their discipler, Ate Crista (who soon to become my discipler too) because we have a project to finish. When I am already there, Ate Crista was introduced to me and shared the word of God to me. From that day on my life was never the same. It became more exciting everyday as I seek for His will for my life. And on December 07, 2008 I was baptized. As I've known Jesus to be my sole Saviour of my life, I have dedicated my life to really look to His words and promises. Being obedient to His words was never easy but I tell you brethren it is all worth it. Once Jesus is in my life, there's no turning back. My commitment is that in simple ways I want to help expand God's kingdom. I have the heart ever since to support missionaries as much as I could and up to now I am continuously keeping that desire for I know that one day God will bless me so that I could also be a blessing. I would never barter my faith to anything that this world offers, I hope and pray that it would also be your commitment. There are lots of things that I could share to you on how God has been really faithful to my life. As a CCC Alumni, I am blessed to see people who dedicated their lives to be volunteers or part-time or full time staff of Bicol CCC. I am excited for everyone of you as you continue your ministry and as God favors you every day with His provisions. You will always be in my prayers. May we all find God's glory in our lives more meaningful every day. This is all for God's glory alone, not ours. This is His story, not ours. May we enjoy our own journey with God.

Four Spiritual Laws

Just as there are physical laws that govern
the physical universe, so are there spiritual laws
that govern your relationship with God.

God loves you and offers a wonderful plan for your life.

God's Love
"God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever
believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16, NIV).

God's Plan[Christ speaking] "I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly"
[that it might be full and meaningful] (John 10:10).

Why is it that most people are not experiencing that abundant life?

Because...

Man is sinful and separated from God.
Therefore, he cannot know and experience
God's love and plan for his life.

Man is Sinful"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

Man was created to have fellowship with God; but, because of his own stubborn
self-will, he chose to go his own independent way and fellowship with God was broken.
This self-will, characterized by an attitude of active rebellion or passive indifference,
is an evidence of what the Bible calls sin.

Man Is Separated"The wages of sin is death" [spiritual separation from God] (Romans 6:23).

This diagram illustrates that God is holy and man is sinful. A great gulf separates the two. The arrows illustrate that man is continually trying to reach God and the abundant life through his own efforts, such as a good life, philosophy, or religion
-but he inevitably fails.

The third law explains the only way to bridge this gulf...

Jesus Christ is God's only provision for man's sin.
Through Him you can know and experience
God's love and plan for your life.

He Died In Our Place
"God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8).

He Rose from the Dead
"Christ died for our sins... He was buried... He was raised on the third day,
according to the Scriptures... He appeared to Peter, then to the twelve.
After that He appeared to more than five hundred..." (1 Corinthians 15:3-6).

He Is the Only Way to God
"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one comes to
the Father but through Me'" (John 14:6).

This diagram illustrates that God has bridged the gulf that separates us from Him by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross in our place to pay the penalty for our sins.

It is not enough just to know these three laws...

We must individually receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord;
then we can know and experience God's love and plan for our lives.

We Must Receive Christ"As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children
of God, even to those who believe in His name" (John 1:12).

We Receive Christ Through Faith"By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves,
it is the gift of God; not as result of works that no one should boast" (Ephesians 2:8,9).

When We Receive Christ, We Experience a New Birth(Read John 3:1-8.)

We Receive Christ Through Personal Invitation[Christ speaking] "Behold, I stand at the door and knock;
if any one hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him" (Revelation 3:20).

Receiving Christ involves turning to God from self (repentance) and trusting
Christ to come into our lives to forgive our sins and to make us what He wants us to be.
Just to agree intellectually that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died on the cross
for our sins is not enough. Nor is it enough to have an emotional experience.
We receive Jesus Christ by faith, as an act of the will.

These two circles represent two kinds of lives:

Self-Directed Life
S-Self is on the throne
-Christ is outside the life
-Interests are directed by self, often
resulting in discord and frustration

Christ-Directed Life-Christ is in the life and on the throne
S-Self is yielding to Christ,
resulting in harmony with God's plan
-Interests are directed by Christ,
resulting in harmony with God's plan

The following explains how you can receive Christ:

You Can Receive Christ Right Now by Faith Through Prayer
(Prayer is talking with God)

God knows your heart and is not so concerned with your words as He is with the attitude
of your heart. The following is a suggested prayer:

Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life.
Take control of the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.

Does this prayer express the desire of your heart? If it does, I invite you to pray this
prayer right now, and Christ will come into your life, as He promised.

How to Know That Christ Is in Your Life

Did you receive Christ into your life by sincerely praying the suggested prayer? According to His promise in Revelation 3:20, where is Christ right now in relation to you? Christ said that He would come into your life. Would He mislead you? On what authority do you know that God has answered your prayer?
(The trustworthiness of God Himself and His Word.)

The Bible Promises Eternal Life
"The witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life" (1 John 5:11-13).

Thank God often that Christ is in your life and that He will never leave you (Hebrews 13:5). You can know on the basis of His promise that Christ lives in you and that you have eternal life from the very moment you invite Him in. He will not deceive you.

An important reminder...

Do Not Depend on Feelings
The promise of God's Word, the Bible - not our feelings - is our authority. The Christian lives by faith (trust) in the trustworthiness of God Himself and His Word. This train diagram illustrates the relationship among fact (God and His Word), faith (our trust in God and His Word), and feeling (the result of our faith and obedience) (John 14:21).

The train will run with or without a caboose. However, it would be useless to attempt to pull the train by the caboose. In the same way, as Christians we do not depend on feelings or emotions, but we place our faith (trust) in the trustworthiness of God and the promises of His Word.

Now That You Have Received Christ

The moment that you received Christ by faith, as an act of the will, many things happened, including the following:

Christ came into your life (Revelation 3:20 ; Colossians 1:27).
Your sins were forgiven (Colossians 1:14).
You became a child of God (John 1:12).
You received eternal life (John 5:24).
You began the great adventure for which God created you (John 10:10; 2 Corinthians 5:17 ;
1 Thessalonians 5:18).

Can you think of anything more wonderful that could happen to you than receiving Christ? Would you like to thank God in prayer right now for what He has done for you? By thanking God, you demonstrate your faith. To enjoy your new life to the fullest...

Suggestions for Christian Growth

Spiritual growth results from trusting Jesus Christ. "The righteous man shall live by faith" (Galatians 3:11). A life of faith will enable you to trust God increasingly with every detail of your life, and to practice the following:

G	Go to God in prayer daily (John 15:7).
R	Read God's Word daily (Acts 17:11); begin with the Gospel of John.
O	Obey God moment by moment (John 14:21).
W	Witness for Christ by your life and words (Matthew 4:19; John 15:8).
T	Trust God for every detail of your life (1 Peter 5:7).
H	Holy Spirit - allow Him to control and empower your daily life and witness (Galatians 5:16,17; Acts 1:8).

Fellowship in a Good Church

God's Word instructs us not to forsake "the assembling of ourselves together" (Hebrews 10:25). Several logs burn brightly together; but put one aside on the cold hearth and the fire goes out. So it is with your relationship with other Christians.

If you do not belong to a church, do not wait to be invited. Take the initiative; call the pastor of a nearby church where Christ is honored and His Word is preached. Start this week, and make plans to attend regularly.

GLIMPSE OF TRUE CHARACTER & IMPACT OF ATTITUDE

Read through this passage on how character and attitude have great impact if we are considering marriage in our life. I've read this in the book of Joshua Harris' I Kissed Dating Goodbye. This made me think deeper and take into consider things in life that should be taken seriously and within God's perspective. I believe that there's no such thing as it's too late for someone who is growing and maturing in spirit. And this one I want to share with some Christians and non-Christian singles that I know - both men and women - and also to married couples who have been an inspiration. :)

Glimpses of True Character
How do we evaluate a person's character? How do we get past image and reputation to catch a glimpse of who a person really is? Let's look at some of the little acts that can tell us more about a person.

HOW A PERSON RELATES TO GOD

A person's relationship to God is the defining relationship in his or her life - when this relationship is out of order, every other relationship will suffer. Scripture plainly states that a Christian should not even consider a non-Christian for a spouse. "Don't team up with those who are unbelievers," the Bible says (2 Corinthians 6:14 , NLT). Both you and the person you marry must have a dynamic, growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The question is not merely "Are you and a potential spouse saved?" but rather "Are both of you in love with Jesus Christ? Will you place Him before even each other?"

"This is one of those beautiful paradoxes of biblical truth," write David Powlison and John Yenchko. "If you love and want your spouse more than anything, you will end up selfish, fearful, bitter, or disillusioned. If you love Jesus more than anything else, you will really love and enjoy your spouse You will be someone worth marrying!"

Once, in a conversation about relationships, two Christian girls told me that they find focus on God one of the most attractive qualities in a guy. "It's obvious when he really love the Lord," my friend Sarah said. "When he's telling you about his love for God, you can tell that he's not distracted by you."

"Exactly!" affirmed Jayme. "It's funny because the guys that really go out of their way to impress girls don't impress me at all. They make me nauseated."

Look for, and work on becoming, a man or woman who, as a single, seeks God wholeheartedly, putting Him before anything else. Don't worry about impressing the opposite sex. Instead, strive to please and glorify God. Along the way you'll catch the attention of people with the same priorities.

HOW A PERSON RELATES TO OTHERS

The second window to a person's character is his or her relationships with others. Watch how a potential (and you) relate to the following people:

Authorities

How does a potential mate respond to [people in authority? Does this person respect the authority of a boss or pastor even if he or she disagrees with that authority figure? A guy who can't follow legitimate orders will have difficulty holding a job or receiving pastoral correction when needed. A girl who can't respect a teacher's or coach's authority will have difficulty honoring her husband. Look for, and strive to become, a person who respects God-given authority.

Parents

You've probably heard this sage advice before: "The way a guy treats his mom is the way he'll treat his wife." It's true. The same goes for the way a girl relates to her dad. I'm not saying that a person who has had a bad relationship with his or her dad or mom can't have a good marriage. By God's grace we can overcome old patterns. But we do need to ask, "If he can't be loving and gentle with his mom, why should I believe he'll be loving and gentle with me as his wife?" or "If she can't respect her dad, will she be able to respect me as her husband?"

Don't forget to evaluate your own life. How do you relate to your parents? Can you improve the way you interact with them so you'll know how to honor your future spouse? If you'd really like the answer to these questions, ask your parents to tell you their perspectives on your relationship with them.

The Opposite Sex

There's a huge difference between genuine friendliness and flirtatiousness. Learn to distinguish between the two. No one wants to marry a flirt. Guys, if a girl flits like a butterfly from one guy to the next, always in need of male attention, do you really think marriage will suddenly change her? Girls, do you want to marry a man with a wandering eye? And what about yourself? Where do you stand on the friendly-flirtatious scale? Do you need to change your attitudes and actions toward members of the opposite sex?

Companions

A person's companions are the people who influence and shape him or her. In this category, the way someone treats his or her friends is not as important as who these friends are. A. W. Tozer observed, "There is a law of moral attraction that draws every man to the society most like himself. Where we go when we are free to go where we will is a near-infallible index of character."

Who are a potential marriage partner's closest friends? How do these friends act? What do they value? If they're caught up in partying and living recklessly, the person who spends time with them will probably share those pursuits. What about your companions? Are you pursuing relationships with people who encourage you in your walk with the Lord? Or do your friends drag you down? Don't underestimate how much your close friends shape your character.

PERSONAL DISCIPLINE

The third window to character is how a person disciplines and conducts his or her personal life. "Habit," writes Charlotte Mason, "is the greater part of nature." The things we do involuntarily, almost without thinking, reveal our character.

When we consider this category, we need to note the difference between sinful habits and simply annoying habits or poor manners. Everyone has habits that another person will find silly or irritating. My dad drives my mother crazy with the way he eats corn on the cob. His method is reminiscent of an old typewriter: Munch, munch, munch, munch, kaching! Munch, munch, munch down the next row. This may not be the best table manners, but it isn't a sinful habit. Instead of concerning ourselves with issues such as these, we need to examine whether a potential spouse (or we ourselves) fosters habits that are disobedient to God or that reveal a deeper disregard for others.

The following are a few areas in which a person's habits give us a glimpse into his or her character. Watch these closely in your own life, too.

How a person uses time

I heard Elisabeth Elliot give a speech in which she said that one of the things that first attracted her to Jim Elliot was the fact that he memorized Scripture as he waited in the cafeteria line. that observation told her that Jim was disciplined and efficient.

The way a person spends his of her leisure time tells us what he or she values. Does this person fill free time with mindless hours in front of the TV? Does this person cultivate his or her mind and build relationships, or does he or she run to the next distraction? Seek to find someone (and to be the kind of person) who uses time wisely.

How he or she handles money

The way a person handles money is one, if not the surest, indicator of character. At his nineteenth birthday party, my friend Andy asked people to bring money. But he didn't want the money for himself. Instead, he gave all of it to a Christian outreach effort in the inner city. Andy's attitude toward material things proved him a man of compassion, love and generosity. It showed that he valued the eternal more than the material.

Is the person you're observing (or are you) caught up in clothing, cars, and other material things? Does this person think through purchases, or does he or she spend impulsively, prone to splurging? A person's spending habits reveal his or her level of responsibility.

How he or she takes care of his or her body

We should not fault a person because of things he or she cannot control - height, features, and in some cases, weight. Neither should we be overly concerned with the external. However, the way a person cares for his or her body tells us something about that person's character.

First, how does this person dress? A girl who dresses immodestly may catch guys' attention, but what does her clothing say about her heart? A guy who spends his money on the latest style of clothing may have the appearance of "togetherness," but his infatuation with fashion could mean he's too preoccupied with what people think of him (and that he may make poor decisions with his money).

Next, how does this person care for his or her body? Does he or she have disciplined eating habits? Does he or she have a reasonable and consistent program of staying fit? God wants us to maintain the health and condition of our bodies so that we can more effectively serve Him. This does not mean, however, that we should become obsessed with exercise. A person who is too concerned about weight lifting is just as out of balance as the person who doesn't exercise at all.

The Impact of Attitude

After character, attitude is the second essential criteria in choosing a spouse. Attitude is a person's vantage point, the way he or she looks at and reacts to life. For the Christian, this involves more than mere positive thinking. A godly attitude involves God-centered, Bible-based thinking - working to view ourselves, others, and our circumstances from God's perspective.

The following are a few key ways that godly attitudes are expressed:

AN ATTITUDE OF WILLING OBEDIENCE TO GOD

As you seek a mate, look for someone who will listen to and act without hesitation on what God is telling him or her. You want someone with an attitude like David's, saying to God, "I will hurry, without lingering, to obey your commands" (Psalm 119:60, NLT). An attitude of willing obedience recognizes the lordship of Jesus in every area of life.

Is the person you're interested in consistently looking for ways to submit more of his or her life to God? Does he or she work to overcome bad habits? Is this person being conformed to today's culture, or does he or she push against it, seeking to be transformed into Christ's image?

Are you working to develop an obedient attitude in your own life? You'll never be perfect of find a perfect mate - we're all sinners - but only people with an attitude willing obedience to God's Word will continue to grow in godliness and maturity throughout their lives.

AN ATTITUDE OF HUMILITY

An attitude of humility considers others' needs first. The Bible states, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves" (Philippians 2:3). Does the person you're interested in place the needs of others before his or her own? Watch the small things. When he's on the basketball court, how does he act? Even in competition does he seek to serve others? How does she respond when conflict arises in her family? Is she quick to blame the other party or humble enough to share blame and seek resolution And how do you handle these situations?

One of the things I respect most about my dad is his willingness to humble himself before my mom and the rest of my family by confessing sin. If he has spoken a harsh word or acted uncaringly, he doesn't hesitate to seek forgiveness. A lesser man can't do this.

Two people don't keep a marriage strong because they never make mistakes; they keep a marriage strong by maintaining an attitude of humility that is quick to confess sin, put the other first, and seek forgiveness.

AN ATTITUDE OF INDUSTRIOUSNESS

Don't judge a person by his or her line of work, but do take not of the attitude with which this person approaches work. An attitude of industriousness is one of willingness to work hard at whatever task presents itself. William Bennett writes: "Work ... is not what we do for a living but what we do with our living... The opposite of work is not leisure or play or having fun, but idleness - not investing ourselves in anything."
In Proverbs 31:17 the noble wife is described as someone who "sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks." (Of course, industriousness is important for both men and women.) Look for someone who energetically invests his or her life in something important right now. Strive for this attitude in yourself, too.

AN ATTITUDE OF CONTENTMENT AND HOPEFULNESS

An attitude of contentment and hopefulness is one that recognizes God's sovereignty in every situation. It is faith-birthed optimism that looks to God- an attitude more aware of and grateful for the evidence of God's grace than of problems needing correction.
Here are a few important questions to ask about the person you're getting to know as well as about yourself: Does this person have complaint or praise on his or her lips? Does he or she nitpick at the faults of others or consistently encourage? Does this person view his or her circumstances with a spirit of hopelessness, or does he or she remain confident of God's faithfulness?
Early in his marriage, the Reverend E. V. Hill and his wife, Jane, faced financial difficulty. He had foolishly invested in a service station, and the business had failed. Money was very tight. Dr. Dobson, who heard Reverend Hill share their story at Jane's funeral, recounts it this way:
Shortly after the fiasco with the service station, E. V. came home one night and found the house dark. When he opened the door, he saw that Jane had prepared a candlelight dinner for two.
"What meaneth thou this?" he said with characteristic humor.
"Well," said Jane, "we're going to eat by candlelight tonight."
E. V. thought that was a great idea and went into the bathroom to wash his hands. He tried unsuccessfully to turn on the light. Then he felt his way into the bedroom and flipped another switch. Darkness prevailed. The young pastor went back to the dining room and asked Jane why the electricity was off. She began to cry.
"You work so hard, and we're trying," said Jane, "but it's pretty rough. I didn't have quite enough money to pay the light bill. I didn't want you to know about it, so I thought we would just eat by candlelight."
Dr. Hill described his wife's words with intense emotion: "She could have said. "I've never been in this situation before. I was reared in the home of Dr. Caruthers, and we never had out lights cut off." She could have been broken my spirit; she could have ruined me; she could have demoralized me. But instead she said, "Somehow or another we'll get these lights on. But let's eat tonight by candlelight."
Tears come to my eyes every time I read this story. Mrs. Hill's optimism and readiness to walk through tough times with her husband exemplify the two qualities I desire in my own life and pray for most in a wife. I'm looking for someone who will light candles, not just curse the darkness.

Isn't it great to know these things? The ways on how to know a person's character, made a mark as I've read through. This reminds me and refocus my attention about proper mind setting when you want to consider marriage in your life. It also reminds me on keeping my standards high and not keeping it low whenever one tells me so, cause he won't be worth it. Although I am single, it is very important to know these things. It also reminds me on true beauty that should be seen whenever you are considering someone. It's said in 1 Samuel 16:7 "The Lord does not look at the things man looks at," God says. "Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." The person who deserves the praise is the one who "fears the Lord."

I consider very deep in details the true character of a person. And if you're ready to consider marriage in your life, have the heart to seek for a partner who is same in your faith, 2 Corinthians 6:14 says, "Don't team up with those who are unbelievers." Meanwhile, while I have the gift of singleness, God made me realize the wonders of it - having all my time to serve Him, my family and others and to have ample time to prepare myself to become the best or should I say, the good wife for my husband-to-be.

Although I have some regrets in the past relationship that I had, but then through His grace and love for me, those experiences become channels of blessing to me and to other people. God won't put me in that situation wherein I can't learn something. When you are in trouble or have problems, it's an opportunity for you to grow and mature spiritually through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

And to all the girls, never set your standards low just to match up to their standards. We must endure patience and obedience as we wait for His perfect will. Make every day of your life an opportunity to grow, bless other people and most of all honor God. The fruits of all these labor will be so rewarding. In everything that we do, may it be all for the glory of His name.

With this, I want to give my "thank you" to the two most influential woman in my life. Thank you Ate Crista (my discipler) and Ate Macel (who have been like a mom to me) for all your advice since then.

I may not have taken it seriously then, but it's well kept deep in my heart. I would never be the woman I am now without your inputs and all the advice for me, of course with the help of God and other believers.

As I was reading through the book, the past just flashback right in front of me and I am so grateful that I have met or let's just say, God made us met and be part of my life. Of course, everyone that I have met - whether they have been good or not - still I thank the Lord for their lives, cause nothing in our life is accident.

I have just been blessed that I want to share God's faithfulness to everyone. We have our own stories of blessings to tell and this is mine.

WHAT HAVE I LEARNED LATELY???

There will come a time where God will really push you to your limits. I mean He will really test your faith and how well you will respond to His command. I've struggled this past few months emotionally because of something that God doesn't allow. Well it's difficult, but He continued to remind me on how very important obedience and patience is in a Christian life. You will go far and live peacefully and abundantly when you know how to obey even a single and simple command from God. Take for example a command coming from your parents, if it is difficult for you to obey that, how much more the command of our Heavenly Father?

What if He tells you that He doesn't want the situation that you are in? How would you respond? It's your emotion and feelings against God. It's difficult, right? But I do praise Him cause He gave me a strong and brave heart to endure every pain that is due to me. Cause I know I deserve that pain. God wants me to realize something and I did. The process of healing is difficult but happy, cause I know that God is with me all through out.

I don't want any compromise in my life. I don't want to have a heavy heart in God's eyes. I do really regret those times that I have done wrong in His presence, but of course I've learned something. I am now enjoying a life where all I have to think of is my relationship with God, my family, my career, and those people I care.

Patience is something that I will take with me wherever I go. It is the feeling wherein you get excited for something that you have waited for a long time, just for that moment to come. And when that moment comes, the patience is so rewarding. It is said in the Bible Moreover [let us also be full of joy now!] let us exult and triumph in our troubles and rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that pressure and affliction and hardship produce patient and unswerving endurance.

Romans 5: 3 And I am patient with that. I know that God is faithful to my life. And that hope inside of me won't be stolen, cause God will never be stolen from me. God is my Hope, my Happiness, my Love, my Refuge, my Strength, my Comforter, my All in All. :) How can I respond to such great love? For you have need of steadfast patience and endurance, so that you may perform and fully accomplish the will of God, and thus receive and carry away [and enjoy to the full] what is promised. Hebrews 10: 36

So much blessed. And may you all be blessed. Thank you for those people whom God used as channels of blessing and mentors in my life. :) God bless!

How Awful It is To Be Sick

Well there is nothing special for this blog that I will make. I will just take down of my experience having chicken pox. Hahahaha. It's funny, right? Anyway this started last Monday, January 23. I felt different on that day, I felt very weak and felt cold. I thought it was just nothing - a simple feeling of not being okay. But on early Tuesday morning I noticed a blister on my upper chest, near my collar bone. I pricked it. But then I still feel very weak on that day. On Tuesday night, I notice that the blisters added up. Then I noticed that it's a chicken pox already. Having that same weakness of the body and that blisters on my body I still manage to go to work. Anyway I went to see the company nurse and of course I was sent home.

On Wednesday morning I see a doctor and he gave me a vaccine and I bought the medicine prescribed to me. And as days go by, I feel worse. It's so itchy and I can't sleep well. I just pray that this will soon be gone. Goodness. But anyway, I just entertain myself. Haha. Doing computer stuff, watching movies, eating fruits and all. That's life. But I still stay it's awful.

As Erica Jong says : "Surviving meant being born over and over." Definitely true. You just have to survive everyday of your life. :)

    Wanting others to approve of our efforts, our appearance, our aspirations and behavior is perfectly normal, certainly not unhealthy. However, needing the approval in order to proceed with our lives is.
    In early childhood we are taught to obey others and to please them. We confuse love with approval, and we begin to march to someone else's drum. Then we get even more approval. But soon we get out of step with ourselves; we neglect our personal needs and become puppets.
     Giving away our power to the whims of others weakens our Spirit. Personal freedom means choosing our own behavior; it means acting rather than reacting. It also means allowing ourselves the full adventure of living, of meeting each moment wholly, of responding in a pure, spontaneous, personally honest manner. Only then can we give to life what is ours to give.
     Each of us has a unique part to play in the drama of life. And we need to rely on our higher power for our cues, not on those whose approval we think we need. When we turn within for guidance, all the approval we could hope for will be ours.

I will be free today. I will let no one control my actions. I will let God give the only approval that counts. Aligning my will with God's will guarantees it.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE?

     A surgical magazine tells the story of a hard-pressed, irritable, nervous, overworked surgeon in a busy New York City hospital. He was ready to perform another emergency operation. He was in a hurry, it was Christmas Eve, December 24, and it had been quite a day in the surgical suite.
    The patient was a beautiful girl of 17 who had been seriously injured in an auto accident. The nurse, about to give the anesthetic, ssaid kindly, "Relax - breathe deeply and the pain will be gone."
    The girl said, "Would you mind if I repeated the 23rd Psalm from the Bible, before you operate?"
    The nurse looked at the surgeon and he nodded; the girl began:
    "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. . . . "
    The surgeon continued with his preparations, but everyone else stood still, listening. They had heard these beautiful words many times in church but they had never sounded so moving. Here in that surgical suite, they had another meaning, a deeper kind of meaning to them.
     The girl went on, "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me. . . ."
     The nurse held the cone above her to begin with the anesthetic.
     "Hold it," said the doctor. "Let her finish." Then he moved over and looked down at her and said, "Go on, honey, say it to the end and say it for me too, won't you?"
     They all stood quietly and listened as her heart, full of faith, filled the operating room that Christmas Eve day. They heard some of the most moving words ever written:
     "Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me," she paused, catching her breath, then went on to the finish, "and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
    The surgeon looked down at her. He was relaxed, his sense of irritation was gone. There was no feeling of other duties pressing in on him. He and his patient and the operating room crew were at peace and ready for the surgery.
    Everybody in that room had been lifted by that girl's faith.

And Mary said: "My soul praises the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour" (Luke 1:46-47)

There are probably not many of us, in this recovery program, who grappled with life as straigth on as Judy Chicago did. It is likely we didn't understand that we could mold and shape our lives. How lucky we are to be learning that now with the help of the Twelve Steps and one another. Each day we are confronted with many opportunities to make responsible choices, reasonable decisions. These choices and decisions are the molders, the shapers, of who we are becoming. Our identity as women is strengthened each time we thoughtfully make a choice. The action we take through making each choice gives our identity more substance - our wholeness as women is guaranteed through these choices.

Many opportunities to make choices will arise today. I can be thoughtful and make choices that will lead to my greater wholeness.

THE BETTER GIFT

What's the better gift that you can give to someone this Christmas?

Read through this story..

     During World War II, at the Christmas season, Miss Kathryn Drummond was passing through a small Minnesota town. She observed a Red Cross bloodmobile parked before the schoolhouse and stopped to contribute a pint of blood.
     Among the workers was a middle-aged handy-man who waited on the nurses by fetching supplies, washing utensils, and so forth. Meeting this man in the hall and assuming him to be the janitor, she commented upon the fine new school building. "No doubt you find it a great improvement over the old one," she said.
     He blushed like a freshman but smiled, too. "I'm a stranger here," he said. "I live in Minneapolis and travel around with this unit. You see, I'm too old to fight and too unskilled to help these doctors and nurses in any other way than this. I have a great interest in collecting blood for Europe, as all my people are imperiled there."
     His light complexion and sensitive features suggested to her that he was Nordic. "Are you from Denmark?" she asked.
     "Oh no," he replied, "I'm a Greek. You know, some Greeks are very fair complected."
     The following winter Miss Drummond was in Minneapolis. Friends took her to hear the renowned Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra. And when its great conductor stepped to the podium she recognized him at once! He was the handy-man she had mistaken for a school janitor. He was the world-famous musician/conductor, Dimitri Mitropoulos!

     This story has been shared with you in order to ask this question: What are you giving this year? There are a lot of things that are impossible for any of us to give . . . but by the same token there are a number of things we can give.

     None of us could give a blind child sight this Christmas, but how about giving a few minutes of companionship? We can't give a father or mother back to a child who may have lost a parent, but we could give interest and a bit of time! It's impossible to restore to health a person who may have lost the use of any of their limbs, but how about time spent with them to give purpose and meaning? Have you caught the concept? Let Jesus Christ so fill you with His birthday spirit this year that you will give something of real value, lasting value in His name!

Fourth Wise Man

     The story is told of the "Fourth Wiseman" named Artaban. He, too, set out to follow the star and he took with him a sapphire, a ruby, and a pearl beyond price as his gifts for the newborn King. He was riding hard to meet his three friends, Jasper, Melchor, and Balthasar at the agreed upon place. Time was running out when he came upon a traveler stricken with fever.
     If he stayed to help he would miss his friends. He stayed, he helped, and nursed the man back to health. But now he was alone. He needed camels and bearers and a guide to help him across the desert. Because of his act he had missed the caravan of his friends. He had to sell the sapphire to get the needed supplies and camels and bearers, and he was saddened because the King would never have this special gem.
     He finally reached Bethlehem only to find Joseph and Mary and the Baby gone. While at the home where they had been staying, soldiers from Herod's army came to kill all the boy babies in the house. The mother wept behind Artaban as he stood in the doorway. To save the child from certain death he paid the captain with the ruby so he would not so much as enter the room. One boy child was saved and the ruby was gone - now one less gift for the King.
    For years he wandered, looking in the vain for the King until some 30 years later he found Him in Jerusalem during His crucifixion. He thought just maybe he could use the pearl to buy His freedom. On the way to the hill a girl came running from a band of soldiers who were chasing her. She cried out, "My father is in debt and they are taking me to sell me a slave to pay the debt. Please . . . help me, save me!"
    Artaban hesitated . . . then, sadly, he took out his pearl, offered it to the soldiers, and bought the girl's freedom and cleared the debt.
    The sky went dark and . . . the King died.
    Now . . . think . . . did not the wiseman, Artaban, give his gifts to the King because he had cared for those who needed his gifts?


    Christmas is soon upon us. Have you given any thought about your gift giving this year? Will it be exchange time . . . giving to people who are able to give back to you? Or will it be an honest act of real giving? How about giving to people who can't give back? I know of a family who pool their "gift" giving money every other year, and give it to a needy family as their Christmas gift. Just a thought.

THE NIGHT CHRISTMAS ARRIVED

Marge had been a member of our church study group

for several years. Now she was terminally ill with cancer. The

rest of our group gathered to go caroling. It was a cold night

with snow in the air. We visited people who were house-bound

and would sing two or three carols at each house.

We all were looking forward to singing to Marge.

She was feeling fairly well that evening and came to the door

to hear us. We sang two or three carols and were about to leave

when, on impulse, I asked if there was any particular carol

she would like to hear.

"There is," she said, "but I suppose it is too much to ask. During

the Second World War, I was a nurse in a prison camp for

German soldiers in Arizona. I remember on Christmas Eve when

they sang 'Silent Night, Holy Night' as one of the most moving

experiences in my life. I would really enjoy hearing that sung

in German again."

My heart sank. There was no way we could do that. Suddenly,

behind me, I heard a voice, "I can do that." Ed, a member

of our group who sang in our church choir, began to sing.

The rest of us began to hum along with him.

I never knew what prompted Marge to ask for that particular

carol. Perhaps she was reviewing her life experiences,

trying to make sense of her life before she died.

None of us knew that Ed had majored in languages and had been

a German language teacher earlier in his life. All

of us knew that, in the God-given serendipity

of that moment, Christmas had arrived!

Serendipity is the aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident...and God specializes in these moments, lots of them. Coincidence has been described as an event in which God chooses to remain anonymous. Do you think that each of us could have a role in providing such a moment for someone else at this season?

Here is another one of those special moments: To show the splendor of the newborn Saviour in the church Christmas pageant, an electric light bulb was hidden in the manger. All the stage lights were to be turned off so only the brightness of the manger could be seen, but the boy who controlled the lights got confused and all the lights went out.

It was a fairly tense moment broken by a little shepherd's loud whisper, "Hey, you! You just turned off Jesus!"

BE PREPARED, LET IT HAPPEN, AND LET'S SHARE THE MOMENT.

LUKE 1:38 "Anna. . .coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem."

PRICELESS GIFTS

"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins."

LOVE is one of the greatest gift that one can give to a person this coming Christmas. Even if it's not Christmas let us always practice the joy of loving people around us. Loving those people close to our hearts - family, friends, church mates, office mates, neighbors and even those people whom we hate. We must learn to love.

Another thing that I've learned from the preaching in our church is that, aside from the love that we will give and share, we must also wrapped the gift of FORGIVENESS. We must learn the value of forgiving those people who have hurt us deep within.

We don't have the reason to make reasons not to be able to give love and forgiveness to people. First and foremost it is our Father whom demonstrated this gift of love and forgiveness. Now who are we for us not to be able to that in the same way? God has shown a good example of those two precious gift that we can share this coming Christmas.

There's a lot more that you can give this Christmas. Are you having difficulty of thinking what to give this Christmas? Here are also the priceless gift that you can share and give.

*the gift of Listening
Try to share a moment with a family or a friend with your time. You may never know he/she needs someone to lean on. Just be there, you don't need to talk, or even share what's in your mind, you just have to listen. That's all you have to do.

*the gift of Favor
It is warm to someone's heart if you can even say "You look great today" or you can even say "It's amazing to see you". By this you bring a smile to someone's life.

*the gift of Smile
It is always said that when you start your day with a smile everything goes well. Try to put a smile on every person that you may meet. Having that attitude you can make many people feel light and happy on a single day.

*the gift of Time
You can have all the time you want. If there's a gift that you want to share, it's your time. You can never rewind a moment's passed. Treasure every time that you can spend and give to those people that you value.

*the gift of Generosity
Generosity is the one reason why we celebrate Christmas. First, God gave his Son for the forgiveness of our sins. Mary and Joseph gave their life for Jesus to be born in this world. Jesus give help to each and every humankind. Why don't we give a help, a smile, a gift.

May we enjoy this season of Christmas. May we share the goodness to each and every person.

Share the true meaning of Christmas.

NEED TO BE HUGGED

Here is a story about giving help to someone in need in times of danger.

In the fall of the year, Linda, a young woman, was traveling alone up the rugged highway from Alberta to the Yukon. Linda didn't know you don't travel to Whitehorse alone in a rundown Honda Civic, so she set off where only four-wheel drive vehicles normally venture.
The first evening she found a room in the mountains and asked for a 5:00 a.m. wake-up call so she could get an early start. She didn't understand why the clerk looked surprised at that request but as she awoke to early morning fog shrouding the mountaintops, she understood.
Not wanting to look foolish, she got up and went to breakfast. Two truckers invited Linda to join them and since the place was so small, she felt obliged.
"Where are you headed?" one of the drivers asked.
"Whitehorse."
"In that little Civic? No way! This pass is dangerous in weather like this," the other chimed in.
"Well, I'm determined to try," was Linda's gutsy, if not very informed response.
"Then I guess we're just going to have to hug you," the trucker suggested.
Linda drew back. "There's no way I'm going to let you touch me!"
"Not like that!" the truckers chuckled. "We'll put one truck in front of you and one in the rear. That way we'll get you through the mountains."
Have you ever been caught in the fog of life? Visibility is almost non-existent. Then, there's not only the fog to contend with, but you're faced with a mountain pass as well. The combination can be deadly. What do you do? You need help. Hopefully at a time like that you have some mature Christian friends upon whom you can call to "hug" you through such a life-situation. Someone who can lead the way as well as someone who can follow behind with gentle encouragement.
But it doesn't stop with receiving such help. How about you? Are you willing to help someone else through the treacherous passes of life? We are to be a part of each other's life needs. Give someone a "hug" of care.

STRONG & TRUST

They say that the foundation of any relationship is their trust to each other. Have you ever asked yourself how is it with your relationship with God?

The cornerstone of any strong relationship is trust. The dictionary defines "trust" as "to have confidence or faith in" or as "the trait of believing in the honesty and reliability of others."

Trust requires time to build and it comes through various tests of confidence. It's doing what you say you're going to do, in the time and way promised. Another way to build trust is by helping propel others forward in life while maintaining their confidences and also protecting their back. All the other building blocks are meaningless without the placement of trust in the relationship foundation.

Trust requires some level of intimate contact with another. It's personal. However, sometimes in order to get to the personal, you have to start with less intimate contact and progress towards the personal.

Here is a summary of the preaching in the church last January 23, 2011 talking about being STRONG. Just want to share it.

We need to be STRONG always.

Standing STRONG means you are full of unfolding promises of God and you have able to stand strong in the midst of obstacles.

It is said in: JOSHUA 10:12-14 (NIV)
12 On the day the LORD gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the
LORD in the presence of Israel:
"Sun, stand still over Gibeon,
and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon."
13 So the sun stood still,
and the moon stopped,
till the nation avenged itself on (a) its enemies,
as it is written in the Book of Jashar.
The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a
full day. 14 There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the
LORD listened to a human being. Surely the LORD was fighting for Israel!

There are different obstacles and oppositions that happened in the book of Joshua that tells us about having faith and being strong in the midst of problem, having that faith and promise of God. The first one is CROSSING THE JORDAN RIVER Joshua 3-4 (NIV). And let us remember that when there's an obstacle, let God be ahead of you and just follow His way. The next one is the JERICHO WALL Joshua 5-6 (NIV). God tells the people of Israelites to put up their knives and circumcise their selves. Circumcision during that time meaning that you have a covenant with God or you are called covenant people. The third one is AI Joshua 7-8 (NIV). The Israelites lost because they didn't stand firm on their faith. Remember that even a small compromise or sin can take away the promise of God. And repentance is a LIFETIME not a ONE TIME event. The last one is GIBEONITES Joshua 9 (NIV). Remember that if we make mistakes and we turn to God and that mistakes can be turn to miracle by God.

There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the LORD listened
to a human being. Surely the LORD was fighting for Israel!

REFLECTION:

The Lord will help us and fight on our battle but who's side are we in?
There's a limit drawn between God and man that God is immovable,
unchangeable and He will neither take our side nor the enemy's. But it
depends on whose side are we on. Let it be on God's side.

Margaret . . . the eldest of the four, was 16, and very pretty, being plump and fair, with large eyes, plenty of soft, brown hair, a sweet mouth, and white hands, of which she was rather vain.

Fifteen-year-old Jo was very tall, thin and brown, and reminded one of a colt; for she never seemed to know what to do with her long limbs, which were very much in her way. She had a decided mouth, a comical nose, and sharp, grey eyes, which appeared to see everything, and were by turns fierce, funny or thoughtful. Her long, thick hair was her one beauty; but it was usually bundled into a net, to be out of her way.

Round shoulders had Jo, big hands and feet, a fly-away look to her clothes, and the uncomfortable appearance of a girl who was rapidly shooting up into a young woman and didn't like it.

Elizabeth . . . or Beth, as everyone called her . . . was a rosy, smooth-haired, bright-eyed girl of 13, with a shy manner, a timid voice, and a peaceful expression, which was seldom disturbed. Her father called her "Little Tranquility," and the name suited her excellently; foe she seemed to live in a happy world of her own, only venturing out to meet the few she trusted and love.

Amy, though the youngest, was a most important person . . . in her own opinion at least. A regular snow-maiden, with blue eyes, and yellow hair, curling on her shoulders, pale and slender, and always carrying herself like a young lady, unmindful of her manners.

RAIN - RAIN - RAIN

When we speak of RAIN what comes to your mind? Certain things will surely pops up to your brilliant brain. Rain nourishes the ground. But let's face it rain is something that not a lot of us desire. However Rain plays a key role in the cycle of returning water back to our earth. So it is obvious that we need rain in order for the world to continue functioning. Rain water's most well-known and most important effect is providing you with water to drink.

However, rain is just like the Word of God - it nourishes our soul. We need it for us not to be weary and have a heavy soul. Every time that we read each word from God it help us, it revives our spirit. May it always be our nourishment everyday.

God’s Word is like rain — it will not return to Him empty

We are given a striking image in the Bible behind the mystery of how God’s Word works. Rain and snow comes down from the heavens and brings life. There is a purpose behind each raindrop and every snowflake. Rain is often used as a symbol of abundance in the Bible and gives us a unique description of how Gods uses His Word in this world.

The Bible says in Isaiah, “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish… so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

Only God’s Word produces life in the hearts of sinners. When rain falls to the ground, there does not seem to be an intended target for every drop. In the same way, God’s Word showers upon the hearts of all people. Like a spring rain falling on a parched land where life would seem impossible, God’s Word falls onto a barren heart, restoring or giving life to a soul aching for thirst.

How a seed blossoms into faith or not, goes well beyond our comprehension. We simply trust the promise that His Word never fails to achieve its aim. With this confidence, we can continue to share God’s Word, whether we see its effect or not.

The Rain
Storm clouds gather. From heaven they grow bloated withmercy and power. The rain brings the water. The water brings life to the dry and lifeless sands of the desert.

In a dry and thirsty land, without meaning or purpose, God sends His rain - hope.

As a young pastor I often paused before preaching my Sunday sermon to pray briefly, asking the Holy Spirit to come and accompany the preached word of God in order to make it fruitful. In a similar way, after a public reading of the Scripture lesson the readers would often comment, “May God add his blessing to the reading of the word”. However, whenever I came across these words in Isaiah 55 and other passages of Scripture, I would wonder whether there was something amiss in our understanding of the efficacy of the word of God:

10 For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven,

and do not return there until they have watered the earth,

making it bring forth and sprout,

giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,

11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;

it shall not return to me empty,

but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,

and succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

These verses suggest that the power of the Holy Spirit does not merely accompany the word of Scripture, but is inherent in it. Like the rain and the snow which water the earth and thereby actually accomplish something by virtue of what they are, so God’s word does “not return to me empty” but actually accomplishes what God purposes and succeeds in that for which it was sent. The Bible not only demands that we accept what it teaches, it creates the acceptance of its teaching; the word of God actually produces faith and obedience.

For me, this comes as a refreshing concept which I don’t hear spoken of much in our evangelical circles. While there has been a tremendous (and needed) emphasis on the vital role of the Holy Spirit among us, the efficacy of Scripture is not an emphasis. Perhaps it is just a “given”, an understood-though-not-expressed belief; but even then, at least an occasional effort to bring it out in the open is worthwhile.

The apostle Paul expressed the efficacy of Scripture when he wrote about his own confidence in the gospel message he preached: “it is the power of God for salvation” (Rom. 1.16). God is not interested in a person’s mere intellectual assent to his word, as though the human heart could be won over by logical arguments or reasoning. He uses his word to create the living assent of faith. And this is done not by God “adding” his blessing to the word, but because of the fact that God’s blessing is already promised through the word. We see this “rain and snow” effect in the record of the conversion of Lydia in Acts 16: “The Lord opened her heart to listen eagerly to what was said by Paul. (v.14)”. Where the word is, the Holy Spirit is present and opens hearts. It is still true that the “the word of God is living and active” (Heb. 4:12); it is not some dead letter which can only be brought to life by the power of the preacher, or the time of worship, or even the Holy Spirit being asked to do something to it!

So when we come to God’s word, whether in private reading and study, or group Bible studies, or public worship, we can come to it with the assurance given by our Lord Jesus himself: “The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. (John 6:63)”.

Four Spiritual Laws

Just as there are physical laws that govern
the physical universe, so are there spiritual laws
that govern your relationship with God.

God loves you and offers a wonderful plan for your life.

God's Love
"God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever
believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16, NIV).

God's Plan
[Christ speaking] "I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly"
[that it might be full and meaningful] (John 10:10).

Why is it that most people are not experiencing that abundant life?

Because...

Man is sinful and separated from God.
Therefore, he cannot know and experience
God's love and plan for his life.

Man is Sinful
"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

Man Is Separated
"The wages of sin is death" [spiritual separation from God] (Romans 6:23).

Jesus Christ is God's only provision for man's sin.
Through Him you can know and experience
God's love and plan for your life.

He Died In Our Place
"God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8).

He Is the Only Way to God
"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one comes to
the Father but through Me'" (John 14:6).

We must individually receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord;
then we can know and experience God's love and plan for our lives.

We Must Receive Christ
"As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children
of God, even to those who believe in His name" (John 1:12).

We Receive Christ Through Faith
"By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves,
it is the gift of God; not as result of works that no one should boast" (Ephesians 2:8,9).

When We Receive Christ, We Experience a New Birth
(Read John 3:1-8.)

We Receive Christ Through Personal Invitation
[Christ speaking] "Behold, I stand at the door and knock;
if any one hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him" (Revelation 3:20).

These two circles represent two kinds of lives:

Self-Directed Life
S-Self is on the throne
-Christ is outside the life
-Interests are directed by self, often
resulting in discord and frustration

Christ-Directed Life
-Christ is in the life and on the throne
S-Self is yielding to Christ,
resulting in harmony with God's plan
-Interests are directed by Christ,
resulting in harmony with God's plan

Do Not Depend on Feelings

The promise of God's Word, the Bible - not our feelings - is our authority. The Christian lives by faith (trust) in the trustworthiness of God Himself and His Word. Now That You Have Received Christ

The moment that you received Christ by faith, as an act of the will, many things happened, including the following:

Christ came into your life (Revelation 3:20 ; Colossians 1:27).
Your sins were forgiven (Colossians 1:14).
You became a child of God (John 1:12).
You received eternal life (John 5:24).
You began the great adventure for which God created you (John 10:10; 2 Corinthians 5:17 ;
1 Thessalonians 5:18).

Suggestions for Christian Growth

G	Go to God in prayer daily (John 15:7).
R	Read God's Word daily (Acts 17:11); begin with the Gospel of John.
O	Obey God moment by moment (John 14:21).
W	Witness for Christ by your life and words (Matthew 4:19; John 15:8).
T	Trust God for every detail of your life (1 Peter 5:7).
H	Holy Spirit - allow Him to control and empower your daily life and witness (Galatians 5:16,17; Acts 1:8).

SURPASSING THE LIMIT by FAITH

There is a certain capacity or limit that an individual can have. It is always been said that there is always limit in everything. But what if the fact that you know that it is your limit but still you try your best out to surpass it. There are certain situations in our lives that, maybe, just a bit maybe we should cross the borderline. Anyway, when you have potential skills or talent that is in you, sometimes you can even surpass the talent that you have. Let's just say in a game you will go to the next level. And when you are on the last stage you can even go far on it.

There may come a time wherein you may feel so down in your life and you may think that it may be the end of everything. You may feel so hopeless sometimes about your life but everyday is a moment to cherish and be thankful for. But there's a movie that I have watched and it's titled LIMITLESS. But this movie is about the overuse of a certain drug wherein it will make you super genius. But I just want to say that even though we don't intake such drug I know that we can overpass everything in our life if we put our heart and trust to God. Remember that without God we are NOTHING.

REVIVING SPIRITS

There are moments in ones life that we will be in the downside story of our lives. Seemed like the road of success made a detour and then in just a split seconds it seemed like everything was gone. It's truly inspiring to know that there are certain people that has strong determination in life whatever aspect in my it may be. If you are really determined to do or achieve something, and in the course of doing that you have experienced difficulty or problem, it will never be a hindrance for you. Just be firm with your determination in life and focus on your goal. Nothing is impossible to a person with strong determination in life - neither disability nor sickness can never be a hindrance.

Remember failure will only took place if the person gives up. As long as there is still a will to go on and continue, success awaits you. Lesson is that never give up, never loose hope and faith. Hold on to that determination inside you and never let negative feedback affects your life. Don't let it eat you whole.:)

DETERMINATON

In 1883, a creative engineer named John Roebling was inspired by an idea to build a spectacular bridge connecting New York with the Long Island. However bridge building experts throughout the world thought that this was an impossible feat and told Roebling to forget the idea. It just could not be done. It was not practical. It had never been done before.

Roebling could not ignore the vision he had in his mind of this bridge. He thought about it all the time and he knew deep in his heart that it could be done. He just had to share the dream with someone else. After much discussion and persuasion he managed to convince his son Washington, an up and coming engineer, that the bridge in fact could be built.

Working together for the first time, the father and son developed concepts of how it could be accomplished and how the obstacles could be overcome. With great excitement and inspiration, and the headiness of a wild challenge before them, they hired their crew and began to build their dream bridge.

The project started well, but when it was only a few months underway a tragic accident on the site took the life of John Roebling. Washington was injured and left with a certain amount of brain damage, which resulted in him not being able to walk or talk or even move.

Everyone had a negative comment to make and felt that the project should be scrapped since the Roeblings were the only ones who knew how the bridge could be built. In spite of his handicap Washington was never discouraged and still had a burning desire to complete the bridge and his mind was still as sharp as ever.

He tried to inspire and pass on his enthusiasm to some of his friends, but they were too daunted by the task. As he lay on his bed in his hospital room, with the sunlight streaming through the windows, a gentle breeze blew the flimsy white curtains apart and he was able to see the sky and the tops of the trees outside for just a moment.

It seemed that there was a message for him not to give up. Suddenly an idea hit him. All he could do was move one finger and he decided to make the best use of it. By moving this, he slowly developed a code of communication with his wife.

He touched his wife's arm with that finger, indicating to her that he wanted her to call the engineers again. Then he used the same method of tapping her arm to tell the engineers what to do. It seemed foolish but the project was under way again.

For 13 years Washington tapped out his instructions with his finger on his wife's arm, until the bridge was finally completed. Today the spectacular Brooklyn Bridge stands in all its glory as a tribute to the triumph of one man's indomitable spirit and his determination not to be defeated by circumstances. It is also a tribute to the engineers and their team work, and to their faith in a man who was considered mad by half the world. It stands too as a tangible monument to the love and devotion of his wife who for 13 long years patiently decoded the messages of her husband and told the engineers what to do.

Perhaps this is one of the best examples of a never-say-die attitude that overcomes a terrible physical handicap and achieves an impossible goal.

Often when we face obstacles in our day-to-day life, our hurdles seem very small in comparison to what many others have to face. TheBrooklyn Bridge shows us that dreams that seem impossible can be realised with determination and persistence, no matter what the odds are.

Even the most distant dream can be realized with determination and persistence.

Touching life story..... A young man was getting ready to graduate college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted. As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible. Angrily, he raised his voice at his father and said, "With all your money you give me a Bible?" and stormed out of the house, leaving the holy book. Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care things. When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. As he read those words, a car key dropped from an envelope taped behind the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words...PAID IN FULL. How many times do we miss God's blessings because they are not packaged as we expected?

HAPPINESS

"Happiness is the only thing on earth that cannot be paid by any diamonds, gold or money."

True. Happiness is something that can't be replaced by any expensive stone or material in this world. It's something that is so precious, more precious than diamonds or golds.. But why is that, sometimes being happy is so hard. Piles of problems would eat us whole and we forgot the essence of being happy. We have been overwhelmed with frustrations, sadness and until to a point of giving up. Little that we know that we are overtaken with evil - pessimistic, frustrated, sad and hopeless. We oftentimes forget to hold on still to the One who's giving us all the strength and hope in life. The One whom we can find happiness in His presence.

In this world, there's a lot of things that could make us happy may it be material things or person. But happiness will start from us- within us and of course together with the peace that's coming from the presence of God in your life. As I continue to live my life, I want it to become meaningful and full of thanks and praises to the Creator of all things that makes me happy. I won't waste my time and life being in a situation wherein all I feel is sadness. We are not born in this world to be and to feel that way. We are created by God to experience His wonderful blessings that are overflowing. For example in this Bible verse:

The Lord Is My Shepherd

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.”
First, Psalms 23 is written to those who are sheep of God. He is their shepherd.
The relationship between Shepherd and Sheep is very close. The Sheep are dependent on the Shepherd not only for protection, but also for direction. The Sheep will stay in the same location or place until the Shepherd moves them. They won’t wander. Even when the grass is all eaten, instead of moving, they will stay in the same place and starve before seeking new pastures.
What does that mean for us?
The Lord orders our steps. He determines where we are and we will remain there until he leads us to an new place.

Green Pastures and Still Waters

Because we trust and obey, we shall not want. He has promised to supply all of our wants. (see Phillipians 4:19) The Lord even makes me (us) to “lay down in green pastures”.
No dried up place for God’s sheep.
Even when we are confused or puzzled or without understanding, God will take us to “Green Pastures” and make us to lay down. And we will go because we are his sheep and we hear his voice (John 10:27)
He also will lead us besides the “Still Waters”.
God wants us to find a peaceful place in him. A place where we can become restful, not restless. Yes sir, The Shepherd, wants us to be surrounded with Prosperity. With Plenty of Green Pastures and Still Waters.

A Restored Soul

“He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake “
Our soul represents our mind, our feelings, our intellect. God’s people don’t think like unbelievers. Yep, we are a different lot. Remember, we must trust him for all our decisions. We must hear his voice and not follow another. God has restored our soul. He has changed our minds.
God will lead us in the path of righteousoness because he has a promise to keep. Promises he made to Abraham and all his heirs. By faith in Jesus, those promises are ours as well. And God keeps his promises. His name (reputation) is on the line. That why he can’t let his sheep fall.

We Will Fear No Evil

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.“

We will not be afraid, because he has promised to never leave or forsake us. (Hebrews 13:5)

Our Cup Runneth Over

“Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.”
Even in the midst of those who mean us harm, we can be comfortable and assured that God is with us.. God has promised us favor from the top of our head to the bottom of our feet.. The Blessings of the Lord will overflow.

A Believer’s Assurance of Prosperity

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.”

We are confident that God’s promises of goodness and mercy will remain with us all the days of our lives. Therefore we know that we will dwell with him forever.

So there's no reason for us to feel sad. Maybe we may experienced it but let us not dwell on it, instead let us face it. As I was starting to begin this post, I felt sad and weary at that time. But then as I remember some promises of God and as I remember some songs that could lighten up what I feel right now, my mood changed and I'm glad. To all those who feel weary, sad, tired, gloomy or whatever you call it may your mood be changed as you read and listen. May your sadness turn into happiness. Don't forget to smile. Smiling can lighten up the burden that you feel in your heart. :D

Faith+Hope+Love

Starting the day filled with Faith to the One who gave us the breath of life. Never giving up in the midst of all the circumstances, struggles and problems that comes our way. Always holding on to the words that He has promised to us. Always be positive. Having our Hope strong that no matter what happened He will always be there for us. It is said in His promise in:

Hebrews 13:5 ⁵ Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,

“Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.”^[a

But most of all let us not forget to Love one another which is this is the great commandment of God. To love one another. And this is first demonstrated by God in:

John 3:16 ESV

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

JEHOVAH-JIREH

je-ho'-va-ji'-re (yahweh yir'-eh, "Yahweh sees"): The name given by Abraham to the place where he had sacrificed a ram provided by God, instead of his son Isaac (Gen 22:14). The meaning plainly is that the Lord sees and provides for the necessities of His servants. There is an allusion to Gen 22:8 where Abraham says, "God will provide himself (the Revised Version, margin "will see for himself") the lamb for a burnt offering." The verse (22:14 the King James Version) goes on to connect the incident with the popular proverb, "In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen" (the Revised Version (British and American) "provided"), the Revised Version margin suggests "he shall be seen." "The mount of Yahweh" in other places denotes the temple hill at Jerusalem (Ps 24:3; Isa 2:3, etc.). With changes of the punctuation very different readings have been suggested. According to Swete's text: "And Abraham called the name of that place (the) `Lord saw' (aorist) in order that they may say today: `In the mountain (the) Lord was seen'" (aorist). Septuagint reads, "In the mountain Yahweh seeth," or "will see." If there is merely a verbal connection between the clauses we should most naturally read, "In the mount of Yahweh one is seen (appears)," i.e. men, people, appear--the reference being to the custom of visiting the temple at pilgrimages (Driver, HDB, under the word). But if the connection of the proverb with the name "Yahweh-jireh" depends on the double sense of the word "see," then the best explanation may be, Yahweh sees the needs of those who come to worship before Him on Zion, and there "is seen," i.e. reveals Himself to them by answering their prayers and supplying their wants. His "seeing," in other words, takes practical effect in a "being seen" (ibid.).
