The Manor House of Santo Velho, located on Avenue of the Armed Forces, dates from the late seventeenth century and is one of the stately houses the oldest in town, consisting of ground-floor and floor and a beautiful gate, where the weapons of Ribeiros, Queiroz and Vasconcelos.

After France's 1870 defeat by the Prussians in the Franco-Prussian War and its aftermath, the Commune of 1871, the basilica was planned as a guilt offering and a vote of confidence to cure France's misfortunes.
The church was dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a cult that gained popularity after 1873, when the first pilgrimage was organized to Paray-le-Monial in Burgundy. It was there that revelations encouraging prayer to Christ's sacred heart had been reported in the 17th century.
The foundation stone of the Basilique Sacré-Coeur was laid in 1875 with Abadie as the lead architect. When Paul Abadie died in 1884, he was succeeded by Lucien Magne, who added an 83 meter (272 ft) tall clock tower. It was consecrated in 1891, fully completed in 1914, and elevated to the status of a basilica in 1919, after the end of the First World War.

Montmartre is a hill (the butte Montmartre) which is 130 metres high, giving its name to the surrounding district, in the north of Paris in the 18th arrondissement, a part of the Right Bank. Montmartre is primarily known for the white-domed Basilica of the Sacré Cœur on its summit and as a nightclub district.
A funicular railway, the Funiculaire de Montmartre, operated by RATP, ascends the hill from the south while the Montmartre Bus circles the hill.

One of the most stunning modern sights in Lisbon is Oriente Station. It was built by master architect Santiago Calatrava with a roof of glass and steel made to look like a row of trees.
It houses a railway station, a metro, and a bus terminal. The entrance to the metro platform has huge tile murals designed by some of the best local contemporary artists.

The Wall for Peace is freely inspired by the Wailing Wall of Jerusalem.
Visitors can put their messages of peace in the chinks of the Wall that are planned for this purpose.
The Wall for Peace is a work conceived by the artist Clara Halter and spatially installed by the architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte.
The Wall for Peace is erected in Paris, on the Champs de Mars, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. It was inaugurated on March 30, 2000 by the President of the French Republic.

The most famous monument in the world (324 metres, 10,100 tonnes) the Eiffel Tower, situated in the 7th, was built by Gustave Eiffel for the International Exhibition of Paris of 1889, commemorating the centenary of the French Revolution. The rectangular design of the Champ-de-Mars, which lies at the foot of the tower, recalls its initial purpose: a training ground for the military manoeuvres of the Ecole Militaire (Military School). Opened in 1780, it became an important place for national events: fête de la fédération in 1790, the awarding of decorations by Napoleon I in 1804, then the setting for many world fairs. Lakes, ornamental ponds, winding walks and grottoes adorn the Champ-de-Mars.

Although it's known as Miradouro da Graça, the official name is Miradouro Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, a poet who died in 2004 and who spent many of her days admiring Lisbon from this spot. One of her poems is seen on a wall facing her bust which stands looking out to the city.
Standing behind it is an 18th century church, Igreja da Graça.
