Flickr is one of the most popular photo hosting sites around. You can post your photos, add notes to them, put them in collections and sets. You can interact socially with other photographers with comments and groups and discussions. You can post photos to your blog and send them to be bookmarked on Delicious. But that is not all you can do.

You can create widgets to display your photos on your blog in interesting ways. Flickr calls this a badge. You can create an HTML badge or a Javascript badge and add them to your blog. I created a couple of different sized badges that I provide to other bloggers so they can share my Photo-A-Day photos on their blog. IT is a really easy thing to do. First you have to find it. Scroll to the bottom of your Flickr page and locate the link to Tools.

From there you are going to go to the page where you can download the Flickr uploader and other tools for posting photos to Flickr, but what about expanding Flickr. For that you need to locate the link to Hey! Where is the badge?.

At this point you are presented with a choice. Will you create an HTML badge or a Javascript badge. Let’s opt for the HTML badge, more compatible with many of the free services that won’t allow javascript. Pick your poison (HTML or javascript) and then we can pick the flavor (content).

You can now choose to display your photos, a group’s photos or everyone’s photos. If you are looking to just display photos from your own set then you can choose that set. I decided that I wanted to display all of my photos that were tagged with “photo-a-day”

Once you’ve chosen the content for your badge you are presented with options to choose how that badge is going to look, will it be vertical or horizontal, will you use square images, thumbnails or mid-size images. How many images would you like to display (1,3,5 or 10). Do you want the most recent or a random selection of images? And, do you want your buddy icon (avatar) on the badge. You can also junk everything and style the badge by yourself, but that would be in another tutorial)

Once you have made your selections you can then choose the colors for the badge. You can change the background, border, links and text. You can also remove the background and border. This is a great way to match your new Flickr badge to your current blog theme. Once this is complete you can get the code so that you can post it to your site.

On the code page all you can do is copy the code. You cannot edit the code on this page because it will always revert to the code that Flickr supplies. So copy the code and then post it to your blog, there you can make any edits that you wish. Here is one of the options that people can post to their own blogs of my final badge.

I tweaked the code a bit myself and can probably do much more with CSS however for the basic user going through the steps should take care of most people’s needs.

4.After getting logged in, click upon add a HOST its on the left menu.

5) Type any hostname u want (eg:-abc) & select any domain from da given list (eg:-ftpserve.com) Click on Submit.

6) Now u have owned ur own static address (example: abc.serveftp.com)

7) Now click downloads button which is present above on the page & click on which operating system ur using & den download DNS update client or u can download it from here directly, this is for microsoft window users..

"Hello, Friends In this tutorial I will show you how to create a vintage website layout. The tutorial is quite simple and can be followed by anyone who have Photoshop installed on their machine."

Let’s start the tutorial:

Step 1

Open Photoshop, create a new document (Ctrl +N) and use the following dimensions 1020 by 1460.

Set the foreground color to #bcb49d, then select Paint Bucket Tool and click one time on your document to change the color, then go to Filter>Texture>Grain. Here use the following settings:

Select Rectangle Tool and create this shape on top. As a color I have used #61544a

With Pen Tool create this black shape:

Then go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur and apply a Gaussian blur with a radius of about 6.5px. Proceed in the same way for the right side. You should have something like this now:

Select Rectangle Tool and create this shape. For my shape I have used this color: #e5d2ac

Next with Pen Tool I will create this shapes:

Step 4

I will select Rectangle Tool and I will create this shape and I will apply this layer styles:

Because this is a shape (a vector object) to apply the next step I will have to rasterize this shape first. To do that, locate the shape on your layer palette, right click on it and choose Rasterize Layer

Once the layer is rasterized, select Eraser Tool, with a brush of 7px and start erasing each corner of the shape.

We are doing this because we need to create a vintage style for our navigation. After you finish this, with type tool add the links for the navigation bar. Here is my result:

Step 5

On this step we will create featured area. With Rectangle Tool I will create this shape. Color used #e6e0d4:

I will select Ellipse Tool and I will create this black shape

And I will apply a Gaussian Blur (Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur) of about 4px. My result:

With Type Tool I will add some text:

On the right side I will select Pen Tool and I will create this shape.

I will go to Filter>Texture>Grain and I will use this settings:

Next I will select business man and I will add it on my document. All you have to do is to open the vintage Photoshop file and to drag and drop the business man on your document. Here is my result:

Step 6

First I will select Ellipse Tool and I will create this circle. As a color I have used #8d7d5d

Next I will use again Ellipse Tool but this time I will create a orange circle, smaller then the first one:

Having Ellipse Tool still selected I will create a white ellipse on the top of the 2 circles.

Once you have created this one, apply a Gaussian Blur for it (Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur) with a radius of 20px. Set the blending mode to Overlay.

Next on the top of all this circles I would like to make a circle with dashes. You can easily do this on Illustrator, but Photoshop does not have a special tool to create it, that’s why we will have to improvise. First select Brush Tool (B), then open the brush palette. You can do that by pressing F5 on your keyboard or from Window>Brush. Once you have done this, apply the following settings to your brush palette:

Now select Ellipse Tool, but this time make sure that you select paths, instead of shape layers (please see the screenshots)

Once you have done this, Pres Ctrl+Shift +Alt+N to create a new layer the you can create another circle. As you can see this one is not filled. Right Click on it and choose Stroke Path. A window will pop-up, select Brush, hit OK,

then push Delete on your keyboard. You should have something like this now:

Next with Type Tool I will write: Pfolio (font used Bauhaus 93) and I will apply this layer styles:

I will select Line Tool and I will create this 2 lines, then with Type Tool I will write “Latest News From Blog” using Neues Bauen font. I have applied the following layer styles for the phrase “Latest News from the blog”:

Next, on the line from the left side of the text, I will add a Layer Mask (directly from Layer Panel), I will select Gradient Tool, I will make sure that the default palette is selected (black & white) and I will draw a line from left to the right.

Then I will apply a Gaussian blur (Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur) of about 10 px. My result:

I will hit delete on my keyboard and I will proceed in the same way on the right side, then I will lower the opacity and I will apply this layer styles:

Optimize your images !
Images are the most heavy part of many websites. Try to reduce the amount of images as much as you can. Remove all the fancy GIF animations and replace them with static images.

Always define the width and height of an image by setting the image tag attributes. That way, the browser will already know how the things will look like and will load the rest of the page. Otherwise, it loads the image first and then the rest of the page.

Consider using smaller clickable thumbnails instead of big images where possible.

Reduce the filesize of your images - there are a lot of free tools out there. For example, GIFCruncher for GIFs and JPEG Wizard for JPEGs.

Use GIFs instead of JPEGs. JPEGS are only good for fine images like photos, for all other web graphics GIF is usually a better choice.
Clean up your code
Many WYSIWYG HTML editors leave a lot of unnecessary code like empty tags (like <font> </font>) and comments in your source code. remove them with a simple text editor for a faster website loading.

Installing Windows7 from a USB flash drive has several advantages – First of all, the overall speed of the installation process will increase significantly, carrying a USB stick is much more convenient than a DVD, and finally it becomes possible to install the OS even on those systems that do not have a DVD drive, such as a Netbook.

In this post, I will show you how to load the Windows installation on to your USB flash drive and make it bootable just like the DVD.

Tools Required:

USB flash drive with a minimum capacity of 4 GB.
Windows 7 set-up DVD.

Now, just follow the below steps:

Step-1:

Plug-in your USB flash drive and backup all the existing data in it.

Open the command prompt. If you are using Windows 7/Vista then open it with administrator rights.

ie: Go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right-click on “Command Prompt” and select “Run as Administrator”.

Step-2:

In the command prompt, type in the following command:

DISKPART

Step-3:

Now issue the following command:

LIST DISK

This will show you a list of available disks on your system. Disk 0 is usually the hard disk. In my case, Disk 5 is the USB drive (this can be a different one in your case). Now issue the command as shown below:

SELECT DISK 5

NOTE: In the above command, 5 is the USB drive number on my system. If you have a different number on your system, then you need to replace 5 with that number.

Step-4:

Now issue the following list of commands one by one as shown below:

Minimize the command prompt and proceed to the next step.

BOOTSECT.EXE /NT60 M: (NOTE: M: is your USB drive letter)

EXIT

Copy the contents of your Windows 7/Vista installation disk into the USB flash drive.

That’s it! Your USB stick is now ready to boot and install the OS for you. Don’t forget to enable the “USB Boot” option and change the “boot priority to USB device from hard disk” in your BIOS settings.

Refer to the diagram below.

The diagram below shows FRUs to be removed before the Direct Play button board can be removed and repaired or replaced. The Direct Play button board is overlapped by the top cover which must be removed before the Direct Play button board can be reached.

The removable HDD, keyboard, wireless LAN, ODD, modem, and display assembly in turn overlap the top cover. Before you begin to take your laptop apart always start the disassembly process by removing the battery pack.

Removing the Battery Pack
To remove the battery pack from the battery bay, follow the steps below.
1. Turn the computer upside down.
2. Unlock the battery double lock and slide the battery bay latch to release the battery pack. Then you can remove it from the bay.

Removing the HDD Module
Follow the steps below to remove HDD module:
1. Turn the computer upside down
2. Remove two black M2.5x5 screws to release the HDD door.
3. Pull out the tab to remove the HDD unit.

Removing the Optical Drive Module
To remove the optical drive module, you need to remove the HDD unit first. Follow the steps below:
1. Turn the computer upside down.
2. Follow the steps above to remove the HDD unit.
3. Remove one M2.5x8 screw and slide the optical drive module from the bay.

A lot of laptops have a select bay or removable drive not requiring any screw removal, in those cases simply eject the drive.

Removing the Wireless LAN Unit
1. Turn the computer upside down and loosen the screw securing the wireless LAN compartment cover.
2. Lift off the wireless LAN compartment cover.
3. Remove the embedded screw M2.5x5 securing Mini PCI bracket.
4. Detach the two ends of the wireless LAN antenna.

You may need a Hex or Torq (T7) screwdriver to access the Wifi card.

5. Gently press out on the latches. One end of the wireless LAN unit will pop up.
6. Grasp the wireless LAN unit and pull it out.

Removing the Expansion Memory
To remove the memory module, make sure the computer is in boot mode then:
1. Be sure the power is off and all cables are disconnected from the computer.
2. Turn the computer upside down and remove the battery and the screw securing the memory module socket cover.
3. Slide your fingernail or a thin object under the cover and lift it off.
4. Push the latches to the outside to release the module. A spring will force one end of the module up.
5. Grasp the module and pull it out.
6. Seat the cover and secure its screws.
7. Replace the battery.

Remove the memory bay cover (see below).

Removing the Keyboard A couple of laptop keyboard repair do’s and don’ts in the event of a spill..

DON’T panic. Panic makes us do stupid things, think before you react.
DON’T use a hairdryer to dry out a spill...melted keys are hard to type with.
DON’T tilt the machine upside down or on its side (if you do feel the need it's better to tilt it to the side that houses the CDROM as the CDROM area inside the machine has less components on it than the mainboard).
DO switch the machine off immediately and resist switching it back on until you're certain the spill has dried. Survey the damage after you've dried it out. At this point you could remove the keyboard and try the machine using an external keyboard to see if anything else has been affected.

This diagram shows what a basic keyboard looks like, the ribbon cable which connects the keyboard to the motherboard is indicated by the red arrow.

The ribbon cable can also be located on the front edge of the keyboard depending on the age and model of the laptop you have.
Note the keyboard holder (thin strip of plastic) that sits on the top edge of the laptop keyboard needs to be removed to get access to the screws holding the keyboard down.
Most of the current laptop keyboards are like the diagram below.

Traditionally a spill will kill a keyboard or at best at least some function will be lost. I have only ever been successful with a laptop keyboard repair that involved a water spill, anything else normally results in a tragic loss and putting your old faithful keyboard to rest.. RIP.
Removing the Modem
To remove the installed modem, first remove the strip cover and keyboard , then follow the steps below:
1. Remove two black M2.5x3 screws securing the modem module.
2. Carefully lift the unit off its connector.
3. Disconnect the modem cable from the modem module.

Modem removal in a system with the modem mounted under the keyboard, a lot of laptops have an access panel from the underside.

Removing the Display Assembly
The Inverter is a small PCB that is generally located in the LCD cover assembly close by the LCD itself. In most cases it can be found either screwed to the case underneath or along side the LCD panel.

Please see diagram below.

You will need to remove the mask assembly which is the plastic outer border around the screen. If you are the type to be a little heavy handed and impatient, then this is not the task for you. Working around an expensive LCD panel is only for people who have the utmost confidence in what they're doing, the average LCD panel makes up 50% of the overall cost of a laptop and in some cases replacement costs are huge. (Be patient and use minimal force)

Be sure to remove all the screws holding the mask in place, normally expect to see approximately 4-6 screws. In some machines there will be only 2, the mask is also fixed in by snapping type clips that make it fit to the rear cover assembly.

Once you’ve taken that off, you'll have exposed the LCD and inverter which will both be connected to the LCD harness or wire loom that connects them both to the main board.

1. Connects to the rear of the LCD panel.
2. Connects to the Inverter board or FL inverter.
3. Connects to the main board.

Disconnect the inverter from the harness and from the LCD (the inverter will have a cable plugged into both ends of it) now.. here’s the thing. In a lot of cases your laptop screen repair is just a case of cleaning the inverter pins with some contact cleaner and this will fix the issue for a good while.

The reason is that the pins develop a film on them and lose good connection with the plug that is plugged into them, it’s a good idea to clean the harness plug as well.
If you want to achieve a more permanent fix you will need to apply some Glue (Threebond 1530B) to the end that the harness plugs into (plug number 2, see left image), this will prevent the dirt film forming again on the pins over time.

Once this is done the unit can be reassembled and it should be OK. If you have a faulty inverter that needs replacing the cost will vary from place to place, but study our laptop screen repair guide and use the info to save yourself some money.

Removing the Cover
To remove the top cover, first remove the battery pack, display assembly , optical drive module, HDD, memory module and wireless LAN, then follow the steps below:

1. Remove five black M2.5x8 black screws and one black M2.5x3 screw securing the top cover.
2. Detach the upper FFC cable and two speaker cables on the top chassis.
3. Remove the two black M2.5x8 screws securing the system board.
4. Turn the computer upside down and remove the following sixteen screws as shown in the diagram below
5. Turn the computer upright to lift off the top cover.

Removing the System Board
To remove your laptop's mainboard, first remove the LCD assembly and top cover, then follow the steps below:
1. Remove the two black M2.5x8 screws securing the system board to the bottom cover.
2. Remove the two or four silver screws securing the system board to the backside.
3. Remove the system board from the chassis.

Mainboard screws will vary from 1 or 2 up to 10 or more. Remember to disconnect any cables that are connected.

These instructions should be only used as a guide to give you an understanding on how to take your laptop apart. If you're not 100% sure of what you're doing if may be a better idea to pay a technician to take your laptop apart and repair it.
