Do you know someone in Bagan Pinang? Or in Negeri Sembilan in general?

Call them. Convince them.

BN is going to go all-outs on this one. They have to desperately win this one. Its going to be uglier than all the previous by-elections. They already have an upper hand - the postal voters.

But we can beat them. We just need to make sure all the registered voters turn out. So call someone you know and convince them.

It seems the opposition leaders can't use the head-cow case in this by-election; they are afraid of the 20% Indians in Bagan Pinang. So Bagan Pinang folks, Indians or non-Indians, let's show them why exactly they should be afraid shall we?

Change. It starts with us.

I was very negative in my previous post. I almost sounded like there was no hope left for Malaysia or Malaysians.

But I was wrong.

Mr Hussein Abdul Hamid, who blogs at Steadyaku47, wrote a brilliant piece today titled You are one. With me we are TWO. It is inspiring enough to force me to reconsider to pull down my previous post.

Its the power of a single vote. Yours. Mine. With just a single vote, we can bring change. That's all we need from letting this country to rot further. Change.

After reconsidering, I have decided not to pull down my previous post. I am leaving it as it is, so that each time I read that I shall be reminded of change. And the power of a single vote.

Agree with Zewt, Malaysia is in fact disgraceful.

The grass is definitely greener on the other side. Period.

I haven't blogged much lately, I know, my apologies for that.

Today MT carried out Zewt's post titled Our country a disgrace? I agree with Zewt, Malaysia is indeed disgraceful.

I came to Australia in 2003 when I was 18. Its been 7 years and in this period I received my permanent residency, did my share of taxes, absorbed a bit of Australian culture, and imparted with some Malaysian culture. That all in a nutshell.

I like the fact that, when passengers get onto the bus here, they greet the driver with "Good day, mate" or other similar phrases.

I like the fact that, when they get down, they thank the driver.

I like the fact that, seats are reserved for the elderly, disabled and the expectant moms in public transports.

I like the fact that, people hold the doors for you if you are coming behind them, even if its public toilet doors!

I like the fact that, people actually queue here!

I like the fact that, students in schools here are taught to become all-rounders, and not syllabic-focused like we have in Malaysia.

I like the fact that, students are taught in English with optional language subjects such as Vietnamese, Hindi, Italian, Spanish etc etc, which probably makes them more multi-cultural than Malaysians.

I like the fact that, if you're looking for a product and the shop has actually ran out of it, the shopkeeper redirects you to another place where you might get it, even though it could be his direct competitor; unlike the usual rude "No stock!!" you get in Malaysia.

I like the fact that, you can take a snipe at the Prime Minister on national TV. (By the way, its a series which runs every week!)

Now coming back to Malaysia and why I think its disgraceful:

We take pride in tall buildings and white-elephant megastructures, but none of them are built by us. And no, you can't stare at KLCC for more than 5 minute straight.

We take pride in paying a space tourist who made roti canai in outer space, and when he returned we gave him a Datukship and even bought the space capsule from the Russians for millions (which probably worth RM50 at the local scrap-dealer's).

We take pride in designing logos with three distinct colours, as to represent 3 races. Yea, everything is pretty much race-based eh?

We hardly blink our eyes when our politicians are involved in multi-billion scandals, but we refuse to pay for teh tarik which has gone up by 10 cents.

We take pride at our children attending tuition classes. Why should our children attend tuitions when our tax money is not used for rectifying our education system?

We take pride when religion is brought into our education systems. Secular education and religion shouldn't mix you idiots. Stop reciting verses in school assemblies and remove those "shrines" from our schools.

We take pride when our students have the "option" to learn languages other than Malay. But most of us do not know that to learn other languages there must be a minimum of 15 students and its the parents' responsibility to find the teacher, not the school. So much for the right to learn languages.

We take pride when people die in police cells for no apparent reason. Well one reason anyway; chest fluids. And oh we also take pride and believe when the cops tell give us grandmother stories as to how they died.

We take pride at our ability to copy everything from Proton designs, our national language to our culture. Tell me, which Malaysian culture is actually ours? Yea the Indonesians copied from the Indians and Chinese, but at least they acknowledge it. Look at what they did to Borobudur and look at what we did to Bujang Valley. One is a UNESCO heritage site while the other has been closed permanently for "work-in-progress".

We take pride when the government spends millions for air-conditioning cops' tents during by-elections, but the government can't pay RM 2000 for Penan's rape cases.

We take pride when we call our citizens as immigrants/pendatangs but treat the Indonesians working in Malaysia as first-class citizens.

We take pride at our cops when they can arrest candle-holding people, but are "helpless" when it comes to Mat Rempits and criminals.

We take pride at our PM, who is involved in a freakin murder case. Bravo Malaysians, for not only setting the trend, but now every murderer can aspire to become a PM.

We take pride at one of our citizens who is part of the mastermind behind the bombings in Indonesia. And we wonder why Indonesia wants to go to war with us?

And the list goes on..

You see the problem is, what's the point of having super-highways and skyscrapers and megastructures if everything else is fucked up?? We have nothing!!

I didn't move here because I want to earn more or what, I simply didn't want my kids to grow up the way I grew up.

I am angry, extremely angry. I am fucking angry.

No, not with Malays. Not with Muslims. Not with UMNO members. Not even with the 50 people who gathered to to protest today. It was within their rights anyway.

So who am I angry with? The leaders who instructed the 50 odd people to protest.

Oh, you thought the 50 people just turned up armed with a cow's head after their Friday prayers? Oh no sir, nobody goes to pray with a cow's head. They were well instructed, armed and prepared what they gonna do and speak.

I would like to run amok now, but I think I know better. That's exactly what they want me to do. Yes, I am angry. But no, I won't run amok and kill the first Malay I see.

You see, Malays and/or Muslims in Malaysia are generally nice people. Its just certain politicians who manipulate these people into thinking for something that isn't for their own purposes. So whatever Khir Toyol aimed at accomplishing by end of today, he didn't.

You see, Khir Toyol desperately wants Selangor back.

First they tried provoking the Malays by mooting unity talks with PAS and UMNO. That backfired pretty badly.

Then they killed Toeh Beng Hock and claimed that the Chinese are insulting Malay institutions. That backfired too.

So now its the Indians' turn. But you know what Toyol, you are mistaken. We KNOW who exactly are behind this, and hence shall not succumb to racial provocations.

Try harder next time, Khir Toyol. And you shall pay on behalf of that cow.

Today 8 more people died, bringing total dead to 26. WHO estimated at least 5,500 people will die in Malaysia alone. But don't worry, the government is doing its very best to curb the virus. This is what they have done today, upon hearing the 8 deaths:

1) So lets start with Najib, you know, being the (il)legal premier and all.. If you head to Batu Caves, you will see a damn huge cut-out depicting himself. Why? Fuck, if you're the PM don't you want to do the same thing?? YEA.. you can have cut-outs depicting yourself, let your fat wife open a pink website under the .gov domain.. ISA Ikut Suka Aku la.. But Najib what about the virus eh? Haiyah just eat Panadol la..

2) So after having seen his huge cut-out at Batu Caves, Najib was passing through Selangor and had this great urge. Yes, that's right folks. He wants Selangor back. Yup, just like that. Ooi Najib, you think this one your daddy's land ah? Go play with your fat wife, not with the people of Selangor. And what about the 8 people who died today, Najib? Haiyah, people die everyday la.. we have more people dying from road accidents, we are not even doing anything about that, you think I have time for 8 people?

3) And then Muhyiddin went to Perth, Australia and said this in response to the flu outbreak. Eh whats the connection la? Well it seems Muhyiddin thinks that the very existance of Pakatan Rakyat is the sole reason to the recent outbreak of the H1N1 flu. "But I have seen the cracks (in them) from early on," he says and continues to say that "they won't last long". So brace yourselves folks, Muhyiddin thinks the virus is caused by Pakatan, so he is all out guns blazing now. But one might be left wondering why the hell would he go to Perth, Australia, just to say this..

4) Next UMNO vice-president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is sending all UMNO Youth leaders on a commando-type military-style training for "them to win back the young voters". But don't worry folks, a close source to the vice-president said that the training is actually for "combating" the outbreak. "One bullet for each virus" is the theme of the training course.

5) Khairy Jamaluddin, echoing Muhiyiddin words, said its PAS within Pakatan that is causing the recent flu outbreak. He demanded PAS to quit Pakatan over the outbreak and he had this parting words to say to PAS leaders: "I want to see just how far PAS is committed to the pact. We want to see if PAS is willing to sacrifice its honour".

6) But the crown goes to Rais Yatim. Why, you might ask. Well, watch the following video. Patrick Teoh has the following to say about this video "Pay special attention to segment 2:30 to 2:45. Watch his body language. His sneer. His venom. This is the man who is our country's minister of information, communication and CULTURE. After watching the video I think he fails miserably in all 3 portfolios."

So there you go folks. 8 people died today and our politicians are trying their very best to curb the outbreak. The Dandelions, I believe, have come up with the most accurate response:

Apparently Samy wants to go and help the Indians in Andaman Islands. Why ah? They calling out for you ah? They ask you to go over is it? Own backyard all good? No problems in the local areas? Perhaps no commotion this morning over at MIC headquarters regarding the MAIKA scandal?

Seriously Samy, go clean your backside first.

You want to go and help Indians in Andaman Island? You do realise that Andaman Islands belong to a sovereign country and that you cant go there and boss around? Even if they plead to go over, you do realise you need to get permission from the Indian authorities first?

You say Pakatan didn't keep their promise over Kg Buah Pala. But didn't you do the same thing this morning? Didn't you threaten the MAIKA shareholders this morning with FRU and water cannon trucks? Where was your promise to the MAIKA shareholders who put their entire life savings into your MAIKA candy jar over 20 years ago?

There is a saying in Malay but I can't remember the exact words. It goes along the lines of, "Gajah depan mata tak nampak, tapi kutu di seberang sungai boleh nampak".

You know what? Its ok if our politicians are corrupted you know, as long as they are kinda smart. Like Suharto or Mugabe or the previous Maldivian president. They were all corrupted but kinda smart, smart enough to be corrupt and cheat the public for decades.

But you know what's wrong with OUR politicians? They are corrupted AND FUCKING STUPID!! Wanna know why? Look at the above picture. Could you tell me what's wrong with that picture without even blinking? No?

Its simple. Look at the dates. Then look at the title. Can you see whats wrong now?

OK, firstly that picture is the first one in a series of pictures found on this site called Truth for Teoh Beng Hock, which alleges that DAP is in fact swindling money off Selangor and Teoh somehow knew this and he was killed to cover up the whole thing. (This still does not explain why he was killed at MACC building eh? Funny that.) Anyway you know why I think this site is spewing lies? Look at the picture again. Ronnie Liu was not even the ADUN then, coz the general elections did not take place till March 2008. So how can he be involved in swindling money AS THE ADUN??

Fuck la, lie also means lie properly la.. this is what happens when you employ people who are products of our education system. So stupid!!!

Berita Harian, want the real truth?

Now I am pretty sure most of you would have read what Berita Harian editorial wrote about Teoh Beng Hock's death at MACC. They said his death has been politicised and as a result Malay institutions are weaker now. In other words, Berita Harian has just declared war along racial lines.

My question is this: Didn't Teoh die defending a Malay state government? Didn't he die a terrible death in the process of saving Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim and the EXCOs? Hasn't Teoh's death transcend racial borders here?

So who exactly tried to bring down a Malay government? MACC. Yes, a Malay institution tried to bring down a Malay government. (Berita Harian called MACC a Malay institution, I would like to think it as a corrupted government's limb, doesn't matter which race works there.)

If you still read Berita Harian, Utusan, Star, NST, and all other MSMs, go fuck yourself.

It doesn't matter whether you're a Malay, Chinese, Indian or others, custodial deaths WILL happen to one of us if we don't do something about it. So please go and sign this petition, it's a good starting point.

Confusion over Michael's body

MJ's life was littered with controversies. Now, even on his death bed, MJ is shrouded with controversies. Malaysian authorities claim that MJ has converted to Islam after his recent tour in Malaysia. And in this country where Islam is the official religion and over two thirds of the population are Muslims, MJ's afterlife look rather bleak.

As MJ's death broke over the Internet, his parents flew down to Kuala Lumpur to arrange for the body to be flown back to Neverland Ranch, where MJ's final resting place was thought to be. But Malaysian authorities are now adamant that MJ is in fact a Muslim convert and they now refuse to hand the body over. As Joseph Jackson, father of MJ, demanded for evidence of the conversion at Universiti Hospital's mortuary, Malaysian Islamic authorities promptly handed over a piece of paper which had a finger print believed that of MJ's. The Malaysian Islamic authorities are now expected to give MJ a rather hurried burial, an Islamic one at that.

MJ's case comes just days after that of Mohan Singh. Mr Singh's body was confiscated by the authorities under the very noses of his family members, saying that Mr Singh had in fact converted to Islam in 1992 and had to be buried according to Muslim rites.

Malaysia has a long standing record of "body-snatching" cases, as they are generously labelled by those affected.

Science and Maths back in Malay - who gains?

Alright I am sure all of you would have heard that our Science and Mathematics subjects are going to be taught in Malay from 2012 onwards.

Question is - why now and who gains? Certainly not our students. They are always on the loosing end every time our Education Minister (and all past Education Ministers) opens his mouth.

Lets look at this problem from another angle, shall we?

Do we have a by-election coming up?
Check.
Who are the majority voters?
Malays.
What makes them happy?
Malay language, Malay rights, Islam, Monarchy, have I missed anything else?

Now note that UMNO needs to win the upcoming by-election real bad. There is no other way about it. They have to win to save Najib's face and the government's as a whole. They realised the only way the to win this by-election which is in Kelantan is to actually join hands with PAS. But we all know how the proposed marriage between PAS and UMNO went. PAS kicked UMNO off the bed.

So now they need a new tactic. A new method. Something subtle, yet one which shall heat up Malay sentiments again.

Bring up monarchy issue again?
Nah, people are still angry with the whole Perak fiasco.
Bring up an Islamic matter?
Nah, we have a fresh body-snatching case.
Malay rights being trampled by Chinese political power?
Nah, the Indians at Kg Buah Pala are doing it on behalf of Malays.

So what's left? Ah yes, Malay language. Lets bring the Science and Maths in English case again. Lets pick up where we left off last time. Lets revert back to Malay to make the Malay voters happy. And on top of that, lets tell the Kelantanese that UMNO is the one who has been championing Islam all this while and the Kelantan state government has not brought any developement to Kelantanese people at all. All this should get the Malay sentiments high and running.

But what about students? Ah, who gives a shit about students eh? Be it Malay students, Chinese students or Indian students, really, who gives a shit about them? We just want the Malay voters to be happy, and that too only the Manek Urai Malay voters.

So there you go people. Some of you may wonder why the change is taking place only in 2012? Well, what about all the UMNO-linked book publishers who have stocked books waiting in warehouses? Who gains the most each time the Education Ministry says something different? Book publishers, of course. Today you say its all in English; the book publishers print them in English. Tomorrow you say its all in Malay, the book publishers will print them in Malay. Everyone stands to gain eh? Yup, everyone except students.

Now I might also add that the Najib government doesn't really like Mahathir breathing down its neck. Mahathir realised that the reason why Badawi threw out several of his pet projects was because Mahathir simply wasn't holding an iron grip over Badawi. And now when Mahathir closes in on Najib, Najib (or rather Rosmah) gets fed up and throws this whole "Science and Maths in English" fiasco out. And I don't think I have to remind that this was Mahathir's brainchild.

What's my take? Every subject, except the Malay language, should be taught in English. Trust me, you will not see the importance of English unless you become a public servant. If you're gonna be working in a private company, or head overseas on a project or further studies, you are going to be so fucking embarrassed.

Back from vacation

What the hell happened ??!! I went on a break for 6 days right after my exams, and when I come back I can't even understand head or tail of what's happening in the local scene.

What is the issue with Kg Buah Pala? Tried reading here and there but I have officially given up, in fact for the first time I am clueless as whom to blame. And on top of all this, I find videos of Hindraf protesting against DAP's headquarters in Ipoh and Negeri Sembilan on Youtube. Shouldn't Hindraf be protesting against Gerakan?? The most concise read-up on this issue is provided by SV Singam here, but like I said, I have just no freakin idea what's happening there.

I understand that the DNA Bill has been approved with utmost urgency; mind you people, our government is more obsessed with nailing a 60 year old opposition leader with his DNA rather than focusing on the economic recovery or wrestling the crime rates which is spiralling out of control.

Like I said before, I went on a break to Brisbane just after my exams. Now I want to highlight just why I prefer Australian cities over Malaysian cities any day: Read this article first. Please note that the article is actually written over a year ago. Brisbane is congested compared to Perth and Canberra, but trust me nothing can beat KL's traffic. Over the past year or so, Brisbane has been restructuring its pedestrian paths to allow for cyclists. I was wondering if such a scheme could be introduced in Malaysia, but then I realised we don't even have proper pedestrian paths in the first place to be converted to bicycle paths. We don't have proper public transport, not even bicycle paths, and never mind disability ramps. Oh we have a long way to go to reach developed status.

Abolish ISA!

Dear readers,

I often complain that the young in this country are ignorant of the political fiasco that is going on in this country or aren't being serious about their future in Malaysia. But when I do hear how some have taken some initiative to correct this country I will proudly write about them in my blog.

Enter "Freedom & Justice 4 All". As Evelyn, one of their admin puts it, they are "young and vibrants. currently, all the admins are single, unmarried and ave not even yet reach 30." Their single aim is the abolishment of ISA, and I quote directly from their FAQ:

Question: What is your strategy?
Answer: Our strategy will involve leaders of Pakatan Rakyat put threat to the government by saying that they will resign from their ADUN/Parliamentary seats if the ISA detainees is not released. This will put pressure towards te government into considering releasing the ISA detainees as what have been shown by DAP leader.

By DAP leader above, they are referring to Manogaran, who successfully pressured BN into releasing 13 more ISA detainees. I believe its a brilliant idea. BN is scared shit of any more by-elections. If a lot of PR assemblymen are willing to resign so as to enforce by-elections, BN will not be able to face the rakyat's wrath. And all we need to do now is sign this petition, and this petition will be sent to all PR leaders to show that the rakyat is with them when they relinquish their seats.

Abolish the draconian law! Abolish ISA!

Yes where were the public? Where were Perakians?

All of you were cowards cowards and cowards!!

What, you all thought police might arrest and jail you for no reason? How many of you do you think the police can arrest? 10 people? 100 people? 200 people? Had all of you turned up ala BERSIH and Hindraf's march where 30,000 thronged the capital it would have been a different story today.

Sure, the crowd would not have been able to change the proceedings at the assembly. But surely a larger crowd would have given Raja Nazrin a guilt? Do you think he would still be able to talk about stimulus package and swine flu if 30,000 of you battle blood and bullets outside the Perak building?

The very fact that no demonstration took place outside gave a sense of security to Raja Nazrin that his subjects did not object to the "parliamentary coup", and he went ahead with his swine flu and stimulus package talk.

I guess civil movements and people power are only feasible on-screen like V for Vendetta. No point if there was a Martin Luther King, or a Malcolm X born in this country, or even our own RPK, there is just NO people with spine on their back anymore.

Yes Perakians, because of your cowardly act today, all of you deserve to suffer for the next 2 years till the next election. Talk about karma eh?

At a crossroad of principles

I am at a crossroad of principles. I believe in principles and standing up for them. I don't believe in forcing my principles onto others, but I make sure I am heard. But at this point two of my principles are clashing. How does someone react to a gradual change in principles that he believes in? Does he react gradually? Or does he react instantly?

Hindraf
Since I first heard about Hindraf, I have supported them. I have supported their cause and efforts. I have supported their stand that Indians in this country should not be treated as second class citizens or worse still, as slaves. I have supported their efforts in standing up to the Neo-Nazi UMNO government. Hindraf believed in standing up for principles, which I share.

MIC
I hate MIC. Give me a reason why I won't. The main reason behind my hatred for MIC is that the whole of MIC, from the balding point of Samy all the way down to the grass-root members' toes, are made up of spineless hypocrites. Why hypocrites? Because they can't even stand up to their party's principles, which is to look after the welfare of the community.

My second reason why I hate MIC (along with UMNO and MCA) is that these bastards are racists to the core. They will only "look after your welfare" if you are the same skin-coloured as them. So what happens if you are of mixed-parentage? Whom do you beg to then?

These were my principles at the pinnacle of tsunami in this country, which roughly consists of BERSIH's march, Hindraf's Nov 25 rally, Tsunami of 03/08, and the three by-elections.

At crossroads
But my principles are now at a crossroad. Before you guys jump to conclusion, no, I have not switched over to MIC. That would be over my dead body. FIY, I hate MIC more than ever. But my beliefs of Hindraf are "evolving" to say the least.

Hindraf still fights for Indians only in this country. That, to put it bluntly, is what I perceive to be racist. One could argue that since Hindraf does not bring any disadvantages to other communities one can't really classify Hindraf as being racist. But what if, fighting for one's community is racist on its own accord? How different is Hindraf from MIC then, principle wise?

I do believe that Hindraf's sole aim has been achieved, that is to awaken the Indians in the is country from their slumber of 52 years. Yes, the aim has been achieved. Yes, Indians are still being mistreated in this country, but so are other communities. Why not fight for everyone?

I wished and wished that Hindraf would take a multicultural approach sometime after the last general elections. Fight for all the marginalised people in this country. Fight for all the constitutionally deprived in this country.

When I was standing with Hindraf, my emotions were first "Fight against UMNO for Indians in Malaysia" and only then "For a better Malaysia". See the difference?

But I have become less and less ethnocentric as I became more politically matured. Everytime I read RPK's piece on everything and everyone, and each time he chides Hindraf I do not feel disturbed the slightest; I guess he just nails the coffin so well.

Take Chai Suk Yee's case for example. I wish Hindraf would take up on this case, it will not be any different if an Indian is to do it.

I do give credit to Hindraf for Adi Anwar Mansor's case.

I still support Hindraf, but I do hope they become less ethnocentric and start fighting against injustice, regardless of skin colour.

Just finished my test, so I have "license" to blog! ;)

Today I am going to tell you all a story. A story about an insurance executive and a model.

The insurance executive, a young person, who, like you and me, led a seemingly quiet and predictable life. A person, like you and me, had such great dreams of what he wanted to do with his life. A person, like you and me, was totally oblivious with his surroundings and seemed to have a care-free life, adopting the motto of the three monkeys "See no evil, Hear no evil, and say no evil".

The beautiful model, a mother of two, and pregnant at that, had a career people can only dream of. She wined and dined in the best restaurants across Europe, translated several languages, brokered a few arms deals and connected with the highs and riches.

No, these young people weren't different from any of us. We were all forwarding lame emails while state governments were flying in and out of the door. We were all watching soap operas while six men were shot point blank while at work in a warehouse. We were all gossiping about the neighbours while the premiership in this country changed hands without anyone being able to do anything.

But today, that young insurance executive and that model are not with us anymore. He was unfairly dragged out of his comfort zone, mistreated, stabbed, and stamped with iron marks akin to the doings of Satan himself, while she was being dragged across a reserve forest where, while pleading for the life of her unborn baby, she was blown up mercilessly.

And what did we do? We read the post-mortem reports, followed the kangaroo court trials, shook our head and went on with our lives. Yes, semuanya ok. If ain't affecting me, I am not bothered. That's what it is all about isn't it?

What the fuck will it take for us to change?? What have we done to avenge for these people? Will we only change if it happens to OUR loved ones? Will my relatives and friends change if the same thing was to happen to me?

Go on. Keep doing what you do best; nothing. Keep forwarding those emails, keep watching those soap operas, keep taking those lame quizzes on Facebook while the country is burning. Oh yea, the country is burning brightly, in case you don't know.

I will tell you all what to do:

I personally know two of my friends, one of them here, who drove up to the by-election sites to campaign.

Read about Angry Malaysians from Singapore. These people took a day off, and drove all the way north to campaign.

And for people who can't get there physically, BLOG about it. Send text messages out. Voice your opinion.

Remember, if it can happen to your neighbour, it won't be long till it happens to you.

P/S: The government declared today that Kugan died of natural cause. Yup, you read it right. Natural cause. And you might wonder where did all the bruises come from? Eyes Wide Open aptly said this:

Kugan had the shit beaten out of him. His beating was so bad that he suffered massive internal injuties and his kidneys were destroyed. Because his kidneys were destroyed, fluid got into his lungs. He died from the fluid in his lungs. So...the verdict is:

He did not die from his beatings and nobody is at fault.

Alright I haven't had much time to blog lately.. So I am gonna go Twitter style! ;)

1) Perak fiasco - After the whole saga of you-bar-me-I-bar-you, I still have no clue who is my CM.. can anyone tell me?

2) Democracy Tree - The plaque has been smashed and an eroding chemical poured over it.. but how long the tree is gonna stand? Since no one from the public was bothered when they destroyed the plaque, which one you are gonna stand up when they try to destroy the tree?

3) Handing over the PMship - I just hope that come 1st April, Badawi calls up Najib and tells him "Happy April Fool's Day Najib!!" ;)

4) MIC and Bt Selambau - Read here. Hmmm everyone knows the fact that if BN fields a MIC guy, they are going to loose the by-election. Yet, they went ahead with that.. Well, I don't know about you, but I am guessing they are gonna play foul and make sure MIC wins, and then they can parade around saying MIC has garnered back the support..

Well folks, so much has happened since I last blogged and honestly I do not know where to start. Everytime I want to blog about something, some or other "Malaysia Boleh" news crops up, setting me back to square one.

The few events from past days have made me almost give up on this country. Politician's nude photos leaked, six Malaysian Indians who are alleged to be crime suspects were executed mafia-style by the *Royal* Malaysian Police, and I have no idea who is managing my home state, Perak. And oh, not to mention Najib taking over the country next month. Yes, I am so close to have given up on this country.

And to think Mahathir actually compared our country to Rwanda and Burundi..

I won't be blogging much till June at least, since this coming semester is going to define my career altogether. And then in September I will be technically eligible to apply for Australian citizenship. I haven't really made up my mind on this one yet, but what do you think I will do seeing that 8 Malaysian Indians have been tortured brutally and/or killed in the space of 2 months?

Anyway, good luck to all Malaysians..

RPK's farewell letter

I was almost teary-eyed when I finished reading RPK's latest piece. The Federal Court is due to hear the appeal against his release from Malaysia's own Guantanamo Bay, but now he feels that the government is working in the background to send him back there, and he feels the judges are already manipulated even before the hearing starts.

RPK is stubbornly refusing to seek asylum overseas, much to the despair of his family and friends. I salute your stubbornness, but you would be able to do a lot more overseas than holed up in a 8 feet square cell.

Dear RPK, no one will think less of you if you fight for us from overseas. That is much better than submitting your body to torture to BN monsters. If you are "gone" in like 7 or 8 days like you said, who else is there to lead us?

Look at Waythamoorthy, the chairman of Hindraf. People said he ran away and is enjoying himself in Europe. But he is single-handedly representing the "other" Malaysia at Geneva, UK, India and US. Waythamoorthy is doing much more out there than he probably could if he too was detained under ISA like his Hindraf comrades.

But RPK goes on to say this:

I was given an option. Take the money and become rich or go to jail. I refused the money and instead chose jail. This is my choice and no one can convince me to do otherwise. No doubt I will have to pay for this and it will be a heavy price that I shall have to pay. But this is the price of the struggle and the price does not come cheap.

I shall not submit. I shall resist till the end. I stand on right and I oppose what is wrong. Amar makruf, nahi munkar, as Islam would say. We must uphold right and oppose wrong. That is not only the Islamic way but also the way of all religions. And even atheists believe in this, so you need not believe in God to subscribe to the concept of amar makruf, nahi munkar.

Over thousands of years countless people have met their deaths just because they stood on the side of right. What I have chosen to do has been done by so many who are now nameless and faceless. So it is nothing so special that I do which has not been done before.

My resistance will continue. But I will have to continue my resistance behind the barbwire fences of the Kamunting Detention Centre. It will now be up to you, those who are free, to continue where I left off.

My resistance, however, will have to take on a new form. I will no longer be able to write or speak at ceramahs. My voice has now been silenced. But I can still speak the words of silence, which will be my new form of resistance.

I shall no longer open my mouth or utter one word during my detention. I shall maintain the silence of a mute person. I shall not sign any documents of the so many documents that they make you sign when under detention. My signature is not going to be placed on a single shred of paper.

By doing so would mean none of my family members or lawyers would have access to me. Yes, that is the price I shall pay for ‘not cooperating’. I know this and I am prepared for it.

I shall refuse all medical treatment and visits to the hospital. I shall refuse to accept any food and water supplied by the Kamunting authorities. I shall refuse to leave my cell or to meet any of the prison authorities. In short, I shall shut myself out from the world and keep to my own world of my eight feet square cell.

This action will mean I shall survive at the most seven to eight days. By the end of that period I shall be dead. I am prepared for that. They plan to imprison my body for the rest of my life. But I shall release my spirit from my body and will again be free. They can keep my body and they can do whatever they want with it. But they will never be able to keep my spirit. I shall separate my spirit from my body and deny them the pleasure of incarcerating me.

This is a decision I have taken and no one can make me change my mind. And this is probably the last article of mine that you shall read if they send me to Kamunting tomorrow. Keep the struggle going. I shall no longer be able to join you in that struggle. The work is far from finished. This country needs major political, economic and social reforms. The next two years are going to be most trying years indeed. And expect a snap general election within 18 months of Najib taking over if he does take over on 1 April 2009.

I lay down my life for this nation of ours called Malaysia. I will sacrifice myself for the sake of the struggle. There is very little left I can give at this point of time other than my life. For those who stood by me all these years, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I go with a heavy heart. But my heart is heavy only because I have but one life to give.

Death is not the end. Death is but the beginning. It is the beginning of a new journey that none of us can escape and will one day embark upon. It is not something to be sad about. It is something to rejoice.

Please continue your struggle to make Malaysia a better place for our future generation. This country belongs to them and it is for them that we struggle. For some of us, our time is already almost up. We do not have many years left. Many have gone before us. Many friends who started out with us in 1998 are no longer around. But they left this world in the hope that one day Malaysia will be the country that we dream it would be. And that, too, must be our dream.

I pray and hope that the Putrajaya Federal Court will uphold the decision of the Shah Alam High Court to free me from ISA detention. But if it reverses that decision then we must be prepared for that as well. And if the Federal Court does what I fear it will do, goodbye Malaysians, my comrade-in-arms. We shall meet again, one day, although not in this world but the next.

I would be praying for your release, RPK.

Politics is such that there will be no end of amusements. This week's amusements:

Najib, with a smirk on his face, wrestled Perak under everyone's noses, while others were focusing on the previous two by-elections. So much for Najib who was focusing hard on the events leading up to the taking over that he didn't prepare for the after events.

Well, what is happening after the taking over?

Did you know that in all that hurry they forgot that there is absolutely no one to represent Indians? Damn, I sure did not see this coming! Haris is wondering too.

Anyway, moving north of Perak is the Bukit Selambau seat in Kedah. Now BN has been going around saying that the PKR guy is having marital problems and all, but if you ask me, as long as that doesn't affect his performance off the bed does it matter? We don't want another by-election with BN "pouring" millions of tax payers money into a by-election just because they say this guy has marital problems do we now?? If whatever BN said came out to be true, then could BN please get him a marriage counselor yea?

But you know who said the sucker-punch dialogue? Read the following Malaysiakini article titled Trouble also brewing in BN camp:

Umno appears to be eyeing the Bukit Selambau state seat in Kedah which has traditionally been contested by MIC.

Merbok Umno chief Tajul Urus Md Zaid has suggested that an Umno candidate be fielded in the upcoming by-election since the party had contested the seat prior to MIC holding it for four terms up to the 12th general election last March.

"After four terms, MIC does not have influence there. We have received feedback from voters that they want an Umno candidate," Bernama quoted him as saying.

(Eh feedback? You guys already had a mini-by-election and found out that people want an UMNO candidate? Who organised the feedback? Is it independent of UMNO? Who analysed the results of the feedback? If that's the case, then no need to have by-election what, can just give the post to some random UMNO guy what?)

Tajul's suggestion is bound to ruffle feathers in MIC, which is looking to make a comeback after a disastrous performance in the last elections.

(Disastrous is an understatement..)

V Arumugam won the state seat as an Independent last March but quit as state assemblyperson and state exco on Feb 9 and is in hiding, ostensibly for his safety in the face of alleged threats.

In the 2008 general elections, Arumugam polled 13,225 votes against 10,863 votes polled by V Saranan of the MIC.

Tajul said that the Merbok Umno division held a special meeting last night and concluded on urging the Barisan Nasional leadership to choose an Umno candidate for the seat.

He said that Umno deserves the seat because the number of Malay voters in the area now exceeded 50 percent.

(WOW! Less that a year later Malays have populated so much?? Gosh that would even baffle the leading demographers!)

In an immediate reaction, MIC information chief M Saravanan dismissed Tajul's suggestion that MIC is no longer influential in the area.

"How did we win so many times (in the past) if we don't have influence?" he asked when contacted, adding that the decision of the candidate ultimately lies with the national BN leadership.

(Eh En. Otak Udang, if you won so many times before, then why the hell you lost in the previous election? Going by your theory, you should be winning the election for next infinite time what? You think people won't dump you out if they think they are not satisfied with you? And what the fuck you meant by "the decision of the candidate ultimately lies with BN leadership"? Sucking up to BN la??)

Saravanan also urged Prime Minister and BN chief Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to "educate" grassroots leaders in order to smoothen ties between component parties.

(Educate? Aaah now we are talking. Be more explicit next time. Say something along the lines of "Respect us MIC or else we are leaving".)

"We are fighting to win back seats and we can only do that through unity among BN component parties. Even if we are weak, it is the duty of our friends in Umno to help us as a brother in BN," he said.

(Look dude, yes I agree what you have to say is right. Unity is important in any coalition. But UMNO likes to play God in its own coalition, and that means it will always treat you as running dogs. It doesn't, however, treat you as a brother.)

Saravanan added that it was unreasonable for the Merbok Umno division to stake the party’s claim on a seat just because MIC failed to defend it in the last general election.

(Well I don't see why that is wrong. If you failed means people didn't like you. So why the fuck you wanna stand again?)

"What happens in the future? If Umno loses a seat, will it give it up to another BN component party? Is Umno prepared for that?" he added.

(Of course la! That is democracy! You people I tell you, have no clue what democracy is all about do you? Like your party president, you all think can keep the posts for time immemorial eh? You people are living in such a delusion that its almost a joke. Period.)
