With this comes a unique opportunity for me to share their cause, which raises money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation! Not a bad gig, eh? And you think I just sit around typing on my little computer and eating bon bons. Shame on you!

I’m not athletic at all. And maybe you aren’t either! Evidently that’s perfectly fine!

Here’s the scoop…

Dirty Girl is a 5k mud run for women of all ages and athletic abilities. Don't worry - it's not a "race" in the traditional sense. It is an untimed obstacle course designed to push you slightly out of your comfort zone - but only as far as you are comfortable going. Forming teams is encouraged, and so is helping your fellow Dirty Girls get through to the finish. At a Dirty Girl Mud Run you'll find excitement, laughter, and camaraderie - as well as lots of music and even some adult beverages. It's a day you'll never forget.

Dirty Girls love their mud and obstacles. And because of that, they take special care to choose a location for each event that provides you with the best chance of crossing the finish with the biggest smile of your life!

Course Description
Run, walk, climb, crawl—you will experience it all. With obstacle names like Utopian Tubes (tunnel crawl) and PMS (Pretty Muddy Stuff), you can expect to laugh until your cheeks hurt. But don't worry, if you get to an obstacle that's more than a challenge for you—hey, take one of the detours. Also expect safety throughout. Expect the event to go on rain or shine. Expect not to be timed. Expect some crazy team uniforms. Expect to leave with an overwhelming sense of accomplishment.

Course Strategy
Take it easy and have fun! It is not timed or competitive so you can go entirely at your own pace. The course may include off road terrain, so be careful. You’re sure to get muddy, wet and experience some cheek busting laughter. You can expect safety throughout the course and water stations at mile 1 and mile 2.

Spectator Tips
Prepare your guests – they’ll be overwhelmed with a sense of jealousy as they watch you experience what will be remembered as one of the best days of your life! Make sure they bring a camera as the memories will be priceless!

From start to finish, it’ll be an unforgettable event and an incredible teambuilding experience!

I had you at "adult beverages" didn’t I? Or maybe it was the fact that you’d be helping out a great cause. Either way – it’s worth it!

If you want to join my team, let me know! We’ll have to come up with a kick ass name and some cutesy uniforms. And possibly a sponsor. But knowing that the money is going to a great cause and the fact that you’re making lasting memories with some awesome local chicks … has got to be worth a night to get out and get dirty. Don’t judge.

My family doesn’t have cable. We cut ties with it several years back when we had to start paying for childcare. It was just one of those costs that was pointless. Much like our home phone – which we never talked on.

Once we started hearing more and more good things about Netflix and they sent out a subscription for a one month free trial a few years ago … we decided it was worth a shot.

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of NETFLIX but all opinions about it
are that of my own, and my children.

If you have Netflix, you’ll notice the recent new content from Hasbro, Disney Jr. and Cartoon Network. If you don’t have Netlix, well … I had you at Hasbro and Disney, didn’t I?

Netflix is better than ever! With shows like My Little Pony and Batman and Beyond or Disney classics like The Aristocats and Pocahontas or favorites for the older kids like Pingu and Johnny Test … there is a show for every child in your house of every age. And maybe grandma and grandpa too!

You don’t need to have a Playstation to stream the movies either. Heck no!

Here are 3 reasons why there is no reason for you to NOT have Netflix…

You can watch your favorite TV shows and movies anywhere, any time you want. Netflix is available on hundreds of devices, which you probably already have at home!

Streaming is easier than you think. Download the free app on your iPad, click on the Netflix app on any gaming device or visit Netflix.com on your computer – and you’re in business.

The dedicated kids section has family favorites appropriate for children ages 2- 12. All content is selected with help from Common Sense Media to provide ratings, reviews and information so parents can easily make choices for their kids!

So what are you waiting for?? For less than $8.00 a month, it’s a cheaper solution
than having cable. Okay … MANY years. But I still remember it. I remember the 50+ clowns clambering out of the little tiny car. I remember the elephants standing on two legs. I remember the beautiful horses and the gorgeous lady doing stunts on them. And I remember the trapeze artists and how, even those many years back, I covered my eyes because I was terrified they were going to fall to their death.

Even though I remember loving the circus and couldn’t wait to go back again … I’m embarrassed to admit that I have yet to take my boys to one. We had a chance a couple years ago but our timing fell through and we had to forfeit our tickets. I’ve been waiting for them to come back to town and finally, as we were driving down the highway … there it was. The huge billboard sign with clowns and superhumans showing their athleticism. I’m not talking about a sign for the little local ma and pa circus … I’m talking about "The Greatest Show on Earth". You know the one. Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey. The ONLY circus in my book.

Every year or so, Ringling Bros. retools one of their shows and sends it forth. This one is fairly straightforward. While there are plenty of bright, modern colors and Dr. Seuss-inspired gadgetry, it feels more like an older circus.

Also, "Fully Charged" doesn't have a plot for the audience to follow, as in previous shows. Instead, it moves at a brisk pace and doesn't try to be anything but a circus show. That’s nothing to complain about if you ask me! Especially when it comes time to try to explain there’s a storyline behind the tigers jumping through fiery hoops and horses wearing costumes and walking like humans, to my 5 and 2-year-old sons. It just makes it easier for me, as mom, to just let them sit back and enjoy the show.

There's an undeniable high-tech flair, but the show relies heavily on acrobats, jugglers, dancers, daredevils and clowns. Animal acts are used sparingly. So you can breathe easier now, PETA.

There are no motorcycles – which makes me happy as well. They’re stinky, smoky, and noisy and nothing my toddler would ever enjoy. But the trapeze act? Well … that's a circus institution!

BONUS: If you arrive early (like, 90 minutes early) you can even catch the pre-show that allows guests to see the animals up close and it is free with admission. But when I say you have to arrive early … you have to arrive early. They close down the pre-show early to get the animals prepped and ready for showtime.

After speaking with other Moms about the show, almost all of them said their favorite part was The Human Fuse. Now … if you’ve ever been to a Ringling Bros circus, you know there’s usually the epic stunt that makes everyone hold their breath, gasp, and then breathe a sigh of relief that the stuntman made it though that alive. Evidently … this is the one. And with a name like "The Human Fuse" – I can only imagine what’s going to happen. And I can’t wait to find out either!

To get your tickets for Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey: Fully Charged, visit Select-a-Seat’s website to choose your day and time or call them at: 855-755-SEAT (7328).

OR
You can always WIN a family four-pack of tickets just for being one of my awesome readers! Since starting school and playing sports, I’ve realized how important it is to write their names on everything. From pencil boxes to lunch pails (do they still say "pails") to jackets and water bottles, labeling has sort of become second nature to me. I’ve become so use to labeling their belongings that I keep the labeler in the car and stick it on the item as soon as we make the purchase. OCD much, Amanda? Jeesh.

Before I found Kidecals, I was hand writing my children’s names on all of their belongings. That got old. And it was tacky and definitely not "hip" according to my 5-year-old.
Kidecals are personalized kid name labels that can be used on water bottles, clothing, books, toys, sports gear, etc. with fun and trendy designs. Kidecals are dishwasher, washing machine and dryer safe and they do not damage surfaces.

The labels are even waterproof. Which means you can attach them to your pool toys at the next water party! How cool is that?!

Kidecals was founded by a mom of two boys. I knew there was a reason I was instantly attached to these labels! Which means … they’re not just some product that popped into a 20-year-old’s head and slapped a paten on it. Nope. They’re kid-tested / mom-approved!

Here is what all Kidecals has to offer-

Fun Mustache Stickers
My boys are crazy for anything with a mustache. We have t-shirts, stickers, socks, and tattoos. We love Kidecals fun Partystache stickers to use on folders, or just to be silly, and the Mustache Chalkboard Stickers are a cute way to label/organize the kids stuff (or even yours if you’d like)!

Personalized Kids Name Labels
Kidecals are an absolute must if you've got kids and hate losing their stuff. Label water bottles, clothing, books, toys, and sports gear with their trendy and fun designs. Kidecals are crazy durable...dishwasher, washing machine AND dryer safe, and they don't damage surfaces. BAM! These things rock!

Waterproof Labels
The annoying thing about using a sharpie to label stuff is that it eventually washes away. Kidecals waterproof name labels are insanely durable and can stick to just about anything. From clothes to water bottles...and stay put through wash after wash after wash. Oh - and pool toys? Check and CHECK!

Daycare Labels
If you have kids in daycare then you know how important it is to label EVERYTHING. Kidecals daycare labels are not just super cute, they're dishwasher, washing machine and dryer safe, and stay put on anything from clothing, to baby's favorite lovey to sippy and snack cups.

Camp Labels
It's obvious Kidecals is founded by a mother of two boys, because not only are their designs amazingly cute errr - "cool" for boys … they are super duper durable for all the stuff I need to label for camp. Kidecals are dishwasher, washing machine AND dryer safe. They literally do not come off. Ever. Kidecals makes the perfect camp labels for this mom, who is expecting her kids to return with every single thing she packed. (yeah right.)

What else? As if I didn't cover everything...

Oh … They were even featured on The Today Show! Yayeah! Matt Lauer is a cutie patootie and he can label anything of mine, anytime!

Have you figured out that these things are the new "it" thing yet? If you don’t make the purchase of a set of Kidecals today … I don’t want to hear you complain later when little Tommy loses his lunch box. I know, I know … the Mommy drinking coffee, working on the computer while the clothes are drying in the background is just sooooo me. But it’s 2013 ya’ll - and I need to get with the times. If you have a suggestion on someone who would like to throw some designs my way and get their name on my website, by all means – pitch me! Otherwise, I’m on the hunt for a designer who is reasonably priced and can design me a fresh new, modern look for my baby.
Or I could always design my own again. I did this current look and layout. But I also have a household to run. So there’s that.

I’m REALLY excited, you guys! Join me while I drink wine and delineate what I'm wanting for the site!

16th Annual Sunflower Balloon Fest in Anthony, KS

Since 1998, a high-flying festival with beautiful colored balloons, a parade, parachute jumpers, hot air balloon rides, music, and dancing takes the grounds of the Anthony municipal airport.

If you have never experienced the thrill of watching a bevy of colorful hot air balloons rise majestically from green pasture to blue sky, you can’t imagine what you’re missing. So when I found out that Thomas the Tank Engine is REAL … as in, "Allllll aboard! Come ride with Thomas the Tank Engine and Sir Topham Hatt" … I couldn’t stop smiling. I just knew it was something I had to get tickets for! Not only for my little man, but kind of for me too. Yes, I live vicariously through my children sometimes.
Disclosure: My family has been given complimentary tickets to take a ride of our life on the Go Go Thomas Tour. Stay tuned for my upcoming blog post of our adventure. All opinions are my own and if you see my children behaving badly, please just turn your head and walk away. Thanks.

The Go Go Thomas Tour:
A Larger than Life Train for the Ride of Their Life. We procrastinated (go figure, huh?) and debated whether or not we even wanted to have one. We literally waited until Friday night to get our shit together and get everything set up. I am sooooo glad we did! We ended up making several hundred dollars and we didn’t even have any "big" items to sell.

Whether you have a garage, a porch, a yard, or a driveway … YOU can have a fantastic sale and bring in some cash that you wouldn’t have had 10 minutes ago if you hadn’t had one. Since sale season is upon us, and some of you may have never held one before, I’ve come up with a list of tips to hopefully help you hold a sale of your own. I’m definitely not a garage sale expert, but I also know how to shop at one … and hold a successful one.

So how do you know if you should have a sale? Ask yourself some questions...
Do I need to make some extra money?
Everyone can use some extra cash. Plus it’s a great way to get the kiddos to make their own money.

Do I need to declutter my house/life?
Less is ALWAYS more! Less clutter will make you feel better about yourself and your life and more in control.

Do you have the time?
If you set some space aside to throw stuff in over several months, it’ll make it easier come time for the sale.

Do I have the items that people would actually buy at a sale?
You’ve heard the saying: One man’s junk is another man’s treasure. Think like a shopper. Go to a few sales and see what works and what doesn’t.

Be clear on the purpose of the sale. Are you doing it to make money? Are you doing it to declutter? Are you doing it out of boredom?

Where do you even begin?
As I stated earlier, if you set some space aside to throw stuff you don’t use or no longer need/want, it’ll make it a heck of a lot easier come time to hold your sale.

Price as you go. If you know you’re going to individually price your items, price them as you set them aside in your sale stash.

Check your town’s ordinances. Usually during a citywide sale, they’ll waive the permit fee. Otherwise, you need to call city hall to double check or you’ll end up giving your city some of your earnings.
As you are collecting things for the sale, make sure they are cleaned up and in working order. Nothing is worse than going to sale, asking the seller if the item works, and having them shrug and say they aren’t sure. Or for you to buy something, get it home, only to find out you wasted your money. DON’T be that seller!

Choose a date that is as agreeable with other family members so you'll have the assistance that you may need. Most sales are on Friday and Saturday and some are just Saturday. The more stuff you have to get rid of, the longer you should consider having the sale. In my area, many like to have 3 or 4-day sales starting on a Wednesday or Thursday and ending on Saturday.

Choosing a start time is just as important as the day. Don’t advertise that the sale opens at 7 am, if you aren't an early bird. Times differ as much as people and can start anywhere from 6 am to 10 am. Be cautious, however, that if you say you will be open at 8 am, you might have anxious buyers standing in your yard at 7:30. Same goes for shutting down … If you say you'll be open until 5 PM, don’t close at 4pm.

How should you price your items?
As I stated earlier, think like a shopper. Think of prices you would like to see if you were shopping at a garage sale. The lower you price the item, the faster it will sell, the more money you make, and the less you will have to pack up at the end of your sale. Nobody likes packing up the leftovers.

Price your items large and easy to read. If the buyer can’t tell if you want $5.00 for an item or $2.00 for the item … be prepared to sell for the lower price.

Have bins of $0.25, $.50, etc toys. Kids flock to these and it helps keep them out of the way so mom and/or dad can actually look at the rest of your sale without disruptions.

Do not use plain colored dots (i.e.: Red = $1.00 / Blue = $2.00, etc). This is confusing and time-consuming for the buyer if they have to look at the sign to decipher what price you are asking.

Offer a free pile. Usually best if you throw it down by the curb away from the rest of your sale. A free pile will usually draw in more people as they figure they’re steps away from the rest of the sale.

How do you start preparation?
Decide how many tables, bins, and boxes you will need. Borrow from friends, family, and neighbors if you can. And try to have an extra one to check people out at. If they have an arm full of clothes, it’ll make it easier on both of you.

Keep your sale comfortable. Check the weather the day of the sale. Decide a plan if rain is in the forecast. Most die-hards will still shop in the rain. If it’s hot, keep a mister or fan nearby and buy a six pack of water and/or pop and throw it in a cooler. Many people will be so desperate for one-stop shopping, they’ll buy a can off of you for fifty cents. Meaning you’ve profited!

ADVERTISE, ADVERTISE, ADVERTISE!!!!
Type up an ad on Craigslist. You have no reason not to … it’s FREE! This is where 70% of people find out about sales happening in the area (online websites)! And the remaining 30% is just by driving by and seeing the signs.

Advertisement can be done in many different ways. Word of mouth, the newspaper, fliers, Craigslist, signs on the corner, etc.

But again, check with the city first to ask about signage. Sometimes ordinances will prevent you from placing signs in an unwelcome area.

Use large, thick cardboard with bright, vibrant colors that stand out.

Write in large print and make it easy to read.

If you don’t have the nicest handwriting, buy some stencils to make it clearer.

Make sure your signs are anchored into the ground firmly. Don’t forget to make BOTH sides and possibly draw arrows if you can fit them.

Add streamers, balloons, pinwheels, flags, etc. Anything eye-catching. Just be careful with those as well. You don’t want it so flashy it causes a wreck or disrupts traffic in any way.

Only tell the necessary information. Date, time, street address, and arrows. People are driving and don’t (and shouldn’t) take the time to read the rest of the jargon.

Place the signs the NIGHT before your sale so there is less rushing and running around in the morning.

How do I setup and display?
Call it what you want: garage sale, barn sale, yard sale, porch sale, estate sale, sale sale, etc. You don’t have to have a garage to have a sale. If you have items to sell, people don’t care where you’re having it as long as there’s cheap treasures.

Set the sale up and do a walk through. Make sure you can get to each table easily and nothing is too cramped. Keep traffic flow in mind when displaying your items.

Don’t have so many items on a table that people feel overwhelmed.

Try to keep gender and sizes organized as much as you can. After a rush of people, go back and reorganize. You will find yourself doing this all day long – it’s just part of the process.

Try to keep your tables to a theme. Don’t put camping gear with toys. Don’t put glassware next to the toys. Etc.

Make sure electronic items have access to an electrical outlet for testing. Have a power strip available as well as batteries for items that people want to see in action.

Park down the street a ways. Less cars = more customers. If a buyer can’t find a place to park, they’re likely to just keep driving by regardless of the items you have for sale.

Place larger items in the front. There’s about a 4-second window (at most) as cars drive by for your sale to make a good first impression. By placing those larger items out front, you are letting people know that your sale is one they don’t want to miss out on!Display items to their advantage. A set of lawn chairs isn’t going to sell if you just have them folded up, leaning up against the wall.

Display books on a shelf. It may be a hassle carrying the shelf outside, but in the end – it’ll double, if not triple the money you would’ve made if you just threw them in a bin or box for people to rifle threw.

Money, money, money! (Yes, I’m singing it)
Make sure to go to the bank the DAY BEFORE. Unless you have some change on hand. Most people pay in twenties meaning you need to be prepared to give out plenty of fives, ones, and pocket change. I usually get a roll of quarters, a stack of twenty-five $1 bills, and a few $5 bills. I usually have to end up going to the store or bank down the street at least once during the sale. It’s just part of the gig.

Keep a calculator with you at all times. Chances are, you stayed up late the night before and woke up early in anticipation and preparation. Meaning that you are a little drowsy – meaning your math may not be at its peak that day.

Count back change to double check yourself. Even if I’ve punched it into the calculator, I’ve actually caught myself giving back too much or too little change.

My personal opinion: Don’t accept checks. And unless you have the app on your iPhone for credit cards, don’t take those either. It’s just what I think. I’ve had a bad experience before.

Decide if you’re open to negotiate or if all prices are firm. Make sure if you change shifts with someone (to eat, use the restroom, etc), that they are away of your decision on your item(s).

Other random tips
Don’t stand there and talk/text on your cell phone. Make yourself noticed. Nobody should have to ask whom he or she needs to give his or her money to.

Greet your customers. Tell them thanks for coming even if they don’t purchase something. Maybe they saw something they are thinking about but didn’t bring the cash with them. Being pleasant means they’ll remember you more.

Don’t let anyone in the house for ANY reason. Period.

Keep your pups inside. Some people have extreme phobias against pets they don’t know. This can draw them away faster than you can say hello.

Keep your kids out of their old toys. But let them help you as much as they can/want without being a nuisance – hard to imagine, isn’t it?!

Try to get as much rest as you can. If you have someone to take over a couple hours, run in and take a nap, grab a snack, or just enjoy the peacefulness and clear your head.

Do a quick run through of the house to make sure you didn’t forget something. This has happened to me sooooo many times!

Expect people to come in rushes and be prepared by having an extra person on stand-by.
Pay attention and be helpful but don’t hound, pressure, or annoy your customers.

Jump on offers on the last day of your sale. Chances are, if it was a good price, the people had plenty of time to sleep on it and they would’ve came back to buy it. Take what you can get at that point. Haggle once with the person. Fold if you need to.

At the end of the sale – shut your doors, take down the signs, and box as much up as you can. I usually close down an hour before the donation center stops taking donations so that I can get it out of my house. Think: women’s shelters, children’s homes, etc for clothes, shoes, and toys. They need it the most. Sorry Goodwill. Don’t take it personal.

Here is the rule I live by
Having a garage or yard sale is the last-ditch effort to make some cash on stuff I’m probably just going to end up donating and giving away anyway. If it doesn’t sell, then I’m not going to make any money on it.
If you’re holding a sale to make top dollar – list it on Craigslist. Suprisingly, you’re going to make more money by pricing your items lower at your sale.

Running a sale is not rocket science. It just takes some preparation, organization, and effort to make it successful. And in the end … it’ll all be worth it.

GOOD LUCK!!

Disclaimer: This post is brought to you by the letter "G". I stand by this today. And while that post is mainly about the couples who are out there bashing each other and threatening a divorce every other day … there is also another type of person that Facebook wasn’t intended for. The people that update their statuses with lie by omission. Which I have been guilty of…

According to Facebook, this is how I spent my weekend:

This weekend was the best weekend ever. Saturday morning my beautiful boys woke me up with smiles on their faces and wanted to help cook breakfast. After breakfast we drove over to the park and played until we were all worn out. Afterwards, we ate ice cream and then went home to play some games. Later that night, the hubby and I had a quiet date night out and fell back in love all over again. Sunday morning we picked up the boys, came home, and had a dance-athon in the living room. Thank you Lord for giving me such a perfect life.

All of this is pretty much true … but I’m also completely full of shit.

This is how it really went down:
My boys did come in to wake me up. But only one of them was smiling. Evidently the little one dropped kicked the big one in the stomach. So after the apologies, they demanded breakfast while they sat down and watched cartoons. But apparently Mom doesn’t make pancakes quite like Dad so after slaving over the stove … a poptart sufficed.

After breakfast we did go to the park. Well, one of them did. The big one had a soccer game and the little one kept trying to run out on to the field so grandma HAD to miss the soccer game to take the little one over to the park so he’d quit interrupting the game.

Afterwards we did go get ice cream. At first we promised Root Beer Floats … but after a meltdown in the car that we weren’t going to allow them to eat at A&W as well, we decided to go ahead and just pick up the ingredients from Dillons instead of dealing with tantrums inside the restaurant.

But because of the inappropriate behavior the entire way home, nobody got floats.

Once we were home, we played a game of who can fall asleep quicker. Both of the boys lost. They weren’t tired.

So because they never took a nap … they ended up passing out around 7pm. Which was completely fine with me.

And that’s when my husband enjoyed our quiet date night. I sat in the rocking chair, my husband on the couch. We watched Super 8 on Netflix and ended up falling asleep while watching it. When I woke up, that’s when my husband and I fell back in love. I told him I loved him and that I was going to bed. He said I love you too.

When we woke up in the morning we decided we were going down to Wellington to see Nana. So we picked up the boys (from their bunk beds), carried them to the couch, and got them dressed so we could leave.

After we were done at Nana’s, we came home and raced each other to the bathrooms. Because we only have two bathrooms, and three of us are potty-trained, that left one of us doing the pee pee dance in the living room. Introducing: Dance-athon.

After settling in at home, the boys were ready for their naps. And that’s when I sat down on the couch and thanked the Lord that my stinkers were asleep so I could enjoy my cup of coffee – that was now cold.

I signed onto Facebook to see what all my friends were doing and most were talking about how glorious their weekend was for the world to "like".

I clicked "like". Even though deep down I knew their weekend was just as shitty as mine was. But evidently it’s a competition.

Another friend of mine wrote: "My husband just remodeled my entire bathroom. Thank you honey. It is the most beautiful bathroom I’ve ever seen." (I dry-heaved).

I clicked "like. Even though deep down I know that she has already found at least three flaws in her husband’s work. But again, it’s a competition.

And because I didn’t want to be one-upped (because it’s a competition) … I uploaded the pictures from our most recent family trip. But only the ones I don’t look fat in. And only the ones where we’re all smiling and looking like a perfect family of four. I labeled the album: Happy Family Memories.

Even though I should have called it: I’m not a liar. I’m just good at selling my happiness and promoting it.

Then there was a thud. A really loud thud. I waited. And there it was: Screeeeeeaming.
I’d already warned them once to leave the other one alone if they’re sleeping. Big brother didn’t listen and so the little brother hit him on the side of the head with his baseball bat.

After some more apologizing, we all put our clothes on and went outside to play to get some of the wiggles and naughtiness out of us. It hadn’t been 5 minutes when somebody stepped in a steaming pile of dog shit and then somebody else got mad because I couldn’t stay outside any longer (because I had to go clean dog shit off of shoes and off of his pants).

I can keep going if you want. But I’m pretty sure you get the idea.

Instead of pretending that all is right in the world, let’s face it. Life sucks sometimes. A LOT of times if you have kids. Sure there are times that are great and we should celebrate and rejoice. Sure our kids are awesome and do really cool things and we deserve to scream it on top of the rooftops to brag a little bit. But the lie by omission crap gets old.

My life on Facebook is an Instragrammed image of what my life really is. I edit the sucky days and most of the time I just want people to think I have my shit together.
I know I am a decent Mom. But my toddler is a typical 2-year-old who can’t sit still and gets into everything. I was spoiled by my oldest being completely kick ass and now I’m paying for it. My kids do live a pretty awesome life because I give it to them.

Keeping up with my friend’s status updates is exhausting though. Confession: I only scroll a page down (if that much). Otherwise I see updates turning friends into frenemies.

I am writing this post to apologize. I am completely guilty of those Facebook statuses I’ve mentioned above on more than one occasion. Here’s the deal … parts of my weekends do suck. And I’m going to go out on a limb here and say parts of your weekend suck as well. And I’m here to tell you: I get it.

And those are the statuses that I love to read the most. We are all blessed to be alive. Everyone knows and agrees on that.

But when you tell me how shitty your weekend was/is – You’re going to get my honest "like" on your status. Because then that tells me that you’re a real person. A mom who is just like me. One who doesn’t have to lie by omission. One who doesn’t have to write a shiny happy status to make you look like you have the most perfect life. You don’t. And I definitely don’t either.

So tell me about your shitty day …. At least make me feel like I don’t have it so bad….

Disclaimer: This post is brought to you by the letter "F". Most of the time we call it "adventuring" – but the boys will sometimes refer to it as exploring. Others call it hiking. Whether you’re going to a short little nature trail or a 3+ mile hike … exploring our world’s beauty is one of the most rewarding and healthy activities you can do with your family.

Spending time outdoors exploring with your kids and/or grandkids is a great opportunity to make memories, understand our beautiful world, and see wildlife up close in their natural habitat. You don’t have to be an expert hiker to appreciate what’s around you. With my tips below, I’ll help get you started with making memories for your next exploration with your family...

Essential: A stick
The first thing my boys and I do before we even start exploring is to find a good walking stick. A good walking stick has multiple uses, however. They can be beneficial for poking the mud, helping us up a steep hill, lightsaber duels, and poking Mommy in the hiney.

Bring a backpack
So what do you put in the backpack? Snacks, water, and more snacks and water. Just try to pack it light or give each member of your family their own backpack. A backpack can also double as a souvenir saver so they can bring home all those mementos your minis are sure to pick up.

Wear the Right Shoes
It depends on where you’re going. If you’re going to be trekking through some water and/or mud … make sure to bring a change of socks or wear some waterproof shoes. Just make sure they’re comfortable and can withstand LOTS of walking!

Keep your Eyes Open
Exploring the nature comes with a few cautions. Anything from bugs to plants to critters to holes. Before starting out hike we first put on our deet bug spray and sunscreen. Exploring can also be a great learning experience. Certain plants carry red, blue, purple, and other pretty (and yummy) looking berries. These can be extremely dangerous if ingested. Just make sure to teach your children about what and what not to touch. And if you don’t know … it’s a great time to take a picture, and go back home and research together.

Bring a Camera
You never know what you’ll see when you’re outdoors exploring. Adventuring in nature brings great photo opps. Take the time to document your memories and make a journal out of the pictures if you have some time. My boys love to look back and reflect and see what all we’ve done – even if they don’t remember it.

Appreciate our World’s Beauty
Leave things where they are. Don’t try to dig up a tree, don’t litter, and don’t mess with a critter’s habitat. Unless, of course, it’s a deadly spider’s web and you’ve suddenly found yourself stuck in it. But that’s highly unlikely. Just appreciate what we’ve been given and continue to create memories that will last a lifetime with your family.

Tell me .... What are your tips and tricks for a great hike with the kids? How do you keep them entertained and excited? I’ve tried everything from generic store-brand diapers to the purple box diapers, to cloth diapers. It wasn’t until I tried Huggies that I was finally satisfied and comfortable enough to trust the brand I was using.

I travel a LOT. Whether it’s for family vacations or for work or for my daily bus route – my children are in a vehicle for hours every day. I’ve raised my children to be travelers and they love it almost as much as I do. But with this come long car/bus rides, flights, and days. I had to find a diaper that I trusted well enough for our traveling needs. Don’t fret, I change my little guy frequently … but sitting in a diaper for any amount of time is kind of like taking a soaking wet towel and ringing it out. It’s going to leak.

So when Huggies contacted me to try out their Snug & Dry diapers with NEW SureFit Design AND Natural Care Wipes with NEW Triple Clean layers … I couldn’t jump on that fast enough. The new SureFit Design seems to fit snug in all the right places andis especially good for my little travel companion. Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers with the NEW SureFit Design lasts for up to 12 hours of leakage protection. They have a unique, flexible waistband for all-around fit and are a more flexible and less bulky diaper. They have a more conforming gap-free fit to help the diaper move with baby’s twists, turns and angles and have an adorable vibrant and modern Mickey Mouse theme. Or as my toddler calls it: "How how".

And the wipes … well … what’s NOT to love about them?! I love the thickness of the Triple Clean layers wipes allowing me to use only one wipe for "most" messes. Even after my little man is potty trained, I plan on buying these wipes. They’re great for quick baths, spills, sticky messes, or just to freshen up a bit. I use them on my preschooler now just to get that stinky ‘boy-ee" smell off of him. The Triple Clean Layers strong, soft and absorbent layers are gentle on my tot’s skin and thick enough to clean even the muddiest/dirtiest mess off of him.

Another great thing about the Huggies Snug & Dry with NEW SureFit Design and Huggies Natural Care Wipes with new Triple Clean layers, is that they are both now conveniently available at your local Walgreen’s where you can save even more on diapers with Rewards points.

Check it out:
Now until April 14th at Walgreen’s, get 5,000 points (5,000 points = $5 Reward) if you spend $30 on Huggies and/or Enfamil products. No I am not taking my family. Yes you can criticize all you want. But when it comes down to it … you’d do the same thing!

But in all honesty, almost my entire trip is paid for. So you tell me if you’d pass it up!

Anyway, back to the reason for this post. On my way to Orlando, I have a layover in Atlanta. Do you know how popular the city of ATL is right now?!? The Final Four is being played there this weekend. Not only that, but Wichita State University is playing in the Final Four game on the 6th against Louisville. I’m not going to say there’s a slim to none chance they can’t win that game. They’ve already knocked off a #1 seed AND a #2 seed. So right now, anything is possible with these young men!

My retreat ends on Saturday the 6th and I am seriously, SERIOUSLY considering coming in a day early to Atlanta to attend the Final Four game on a press pass. When else can I say that I saw one of my favorite college basketballs teams play (and hopefully WIN) their Final Four game?!?!? But here is the dilemma … when else can I go to Walt Disney World SANS my children, and enjoy the parks at my own pace. I mean c’mon, it’s WDW!

So … what would you do? Would you stay in Disney World an extra day or would you head to Atlanta to watch your favorite basketball team play in a Final Four game?

GO SHOCKERS!!! #WatchUs #PlayAngry

Disclaimer: This post was brought to you by the letter "A". There is ALWAYS something to write about.
Write what your passionate about. Write what you dream about. Write what you ate for the day or what you wish you could eat that day. Write about a goal or a destination you want to go to. Join Mama Kat’s Writing Prompts. Write about whatever you want to write about. Being a blogger doesn’t take a certain type of person. It just takes some dedication.

I love to write. Whenever I’m stressed or sad or mad or happy … it always makes me feel better to get what I want to say out in writing. I love to interact with people and I’ve met so many awesome writers and readers since I started my website three years ago.

But as I said earlier, there’s one thing lacking … dedication. I need to get back to writing every day. And in order to accomplish this, I’ve signed up for the A-to-Z Blogging Challenge.

Whether you are a Vlogger, a photoblogger, a poet, or a freelance writer … the A-to-Z Challenge is for anyone with a website.

So will you join in the challenge with me? I know you have what it takes. Sometimes we just need a little oomph.

BoyMomTalk 2 "The Dance"

Life with boys. We all have those moments with our kids that we find ourselves thinking, "I cannot believe I just said that." Or "I cannot believe he just did that." Etc etc.

I know I’m not the only one that has these moments.

So I came up with a way we can share. Here is a blank template for you to edit in whatever image editing program you want. I like to use PicMonkey. If you need some help with this, let me know.

Just right click on the picture, save it to your computer, upload the image to your editing program/website, insert a new text box, and then type away!

Then upload the picture to your blog, share the humor with your readers, and tweet it on Twitter with the hashtag #BoyMomTalk.
**Don’t forget to share your blog link with me!**

Here is the image....

This is going to be fun! I can't wait to see what ya'll share with me!
