Two for Tea

ATTENTION: NEW BLOG!!!

2011-08-11T12:05:00.001-07:00

Hello, all...

Well, dah-lings. TwoforTea has run it's course and finished well. But what with life changes like graduation, marriage, moving, jobs, and so forth...well...Jessica and Cambria have decided the joint blogging days are yesteryear. While we are still the closest of friends and both style afficiandos, it's just too difficult to share a blog when we're not sharing a closet and a schedule!!!

BUT I (Cambria)am now moving on to a new personal blog. I've titled it "Jupe" and I'm planning on updating at least four times a week, or as much as possible.

So if you don't mind switching your allegiance to a new name and blog face, stop by and check the new one out :)

SEE YOU THERE!!!

Honeymooning, Honey

2011-06-30T10:50:00.000-07:00

Just a few quick shots from the honeymoon today!

I had so much fun looking taking and looking at these photos because they were all with a disposable camera. You know that age-old thing about brides forgetting to pack toiletries on their honeymoon? Well, heck, I had plenty of those--I just plumb forgot a camera. Gracious. But as it turned out, the kinda grainy, washed-out, crooked look of these photos really amps up the vintage feel we had for our wedding. So I'm IN LOVE with them!!!

I'm Married...I'm Mrs. Jones!!!

2011-06-17T13:03:00.000-07:00

Well, ladies...
The illustrious day has finally passed.

The wedding march has played (with beautiful violin and piano, nonetheless).
Almond cakes have been eaten,
pinstripes have been well worn,
aaaaaaand I've had my first kiss :*

So here's a quick selection of photos right off the bat for you to enjoy! More to follow, if you so please! Comment and let me know what you think/what you'd like to see.

Heavens to Betsy!!!!!

Oh my stars and garters...
Hello blog! Sorry to have neglected you... Lots has happened since we last blogged...
In a nutshell...I'll add more pictures for your viewing pleasure later.

1. Roisters-the annual theater banquet...also an excuse to dress a little nutty and do strange things that only people in the theater world understand...like, a balloon parade through downtown. Alas, in all the craziness, C and I didn't get a picture together on our camera... So, here's one of me and Nate, unintentionally matching.

2. We hung out with Shasta from The Traveling Cabinet and made bracelets for darling children and a great cause... Check out the link here
Isn't she lovely? :)

Here we are...looking a tad awkward. And the bracelets, not looking awkward. :)

3. Cambria graduated!!! I don't have a picture of her...but, this is pretty much the same thing... ;)

4. We moved out of our beloved apartment.

5. Caitlin went home to Washington state, because she's getting married in FIVE DAYS!!!!! EEK!
And I bet you all are wondering what the stylish couple wears when they go out on a rainy morning?

Aren't they just the cutest?
They love each other. So great.

6. I also wore clothes out in the rain...want to see that? ;)

Don't mind the rain drops...they didn't hurt.

Whew. That was a lot of catching up. I know I missed somethings...so I'll fill you in as we go along.
Thanks for not ditching us...it might get a little crazy around here in the next couple weeks, what with weddings happening left and right... Stay tuned!!

Love,
Jessica :)

Hello, Dah-ling: Sailing to Rome

2011-05-21T09:18:00.000-07:00

Have you ladies seen this gorgeous new summer dresses from Shabby Apple? Now, I know that I've bragged on their sweet and classy styles before...but these two new collections are really stunning. I think I'd wear 'em every day this season if I could only buy that many new dresses :)

For instance...today. My lovely roommates are throwing me a "friends" bridal shower tonight. And for another instance tomorrow...when my mom's pastor's wife (isn't that complicated) is throwing me a "church ladies" bridal shower. I just realllly am craving some Shabby Apple to wear!

Top two favs at the moment for the bridal shower scene:

Toe the Line from the Set Sail collection...not only is this the perfect relaxed little dress for a casual shower, but it's gearing riiiiiight up for the summer weather we've finally had here in Minnesota :)

Palatine Hill from the Roamin Holiday collection...perfect for an old-fashioned church brunch shower, yes? And then I could wear it out on the town to celebrate later at night. Told you it was versatile :)

Dreams are nothing more than wishes...

2011-04-27T15:29:00.000-07:00

Well!
It's here. The last two weeks before finals and our lives are suddenly even more of a whirlwind...and I know this because I have seen the walls of the library more than I have seen my roommates. :(
Oh, the life of a college student, right?
This outfit I am wearing is actually what I am wearing for a skit I am in. I love this dress...it has pockets and that 1950's silhouette that I just can't resist (Cambria can't either; she bought the same one!), I can't wait to wear it this summer! :)

Until tomorrow my dears,
Jessica

Still I Wonder Why It Is...

2011-04-11T19:20:00.000-07:00

Oh, hey... how about some more pictures from a shoot long ago? These were in January and taken by my dear friend Adam. Check out his page HERE . He is totally legit and a blast to work with! I hope to be able to work with him some day soon...

So, how was your day? Anything you are looking forward to this week?

Oh! And we are so close to 100 followers!! Don't you think something cool should happen when we hit triple digits?!?
I do.
I guess we will see what happens! :)

Until next time kids,
Love,
Jessica

It's Just A Little Bit Of Wackadoo, Really

2011-04-10T18:27:00.000-07:00

Hello my dears :)
These pictures are all the way from October! Would you believe I never shared them with you?
My friend Ellie Herringshaw (check her out HERE ) called me up one morning and told me she found this saweet abandoned warehouse and we were to do a photoshoot there. I should wear this dress, make my hair look all crazy, put on that red lipstick, and bring some sass.
So, here is what we got from it. I haven't received copies of the other ones yet... But these are still kind of fun, right? :)

Oh, and how great is this dress? I borrowed it ages ago from a theater company that has since disintegrated... It's appeared onstage in a performance of Footloose, I wore it to sing All that Jazz (from Chicago) for a variety show, and now it's been in a photoshoot. I love the Marilyn Monroe vibe it gives off... and I wonder where it will appear next? :)

Until next time (when we take outfit pictures...)
Love,
Jessica :)

Sweet and Lovely

2011-04-06T19:48:00.000-07:00

Meet Nate!
He enjoys throwing baseballs at girls (especially ones who are distracted while playing catch...not speaking from experience...), novel t-shirts, flying kites, eating jell-o, and petting puppies.
He was walking back from lunch with us and we had to feature him on Two for Tea. So, there ya go...Nate. Also, that would be Jesus smiling on his shirt. There was much speculation on who it might be... but it is in fact, Jesus.

Today was sunny. And oh, so gorgeous...However, the sun made picture taking a little challenging... Sorry, Cambria, for the "not ready" picture... :/

Doesn't she look great though? She's especially dolled up today because her play is opening tomorrow night!!! It's tradition in the theater department to dress snazzy on opening night, but since we don't have class tomorrow, the "look really great day" got pushed to today! I am so excited to see her perform tomorrow!!

I'm watching You've Got Mail and feeling warm and fuzzy...this and Singing in the Rain are my "happy movies" :)

What's your happy movie?

Love,
Jess

You Know, She's Happy As Can Be

2011-04-05T09:26:00.001-07:00

Today's photos were taken in under 5 minutes. Yes, that's right--Jessica and I managed to herd out of all-campus chapel, get into the sunshine, pose, and snap two photos each before she rushed off to the opposite end of campus for her gym class. Now, the down side of our wickedly quick photo shoot was the fact that we couldn't pick an exactly ideal location. We had to work with our surroundings...

which is my long-winded explanation for why these photos include a red sports car, also depict a crouching man in a tuxedo, and captured us both at some rather unflattering angles.

In other news, this high-low hem is my new addiction. I LOVE THIS SKIRT. It's soooo swishy and floaty and fabulously displays my ankles. Mmmmmmm.

Introducing...Style Rewind

2011-04-04T14:17:00.000-07:00

Today I would to introduce a new feature on Two for Tea called..."Style Rewind." Every week, Jessica and I are going to choose a historical trend or style icon from the past and create an outfit to reflect that era/individual's fashion choices...with clothes from our own closets!

Be prepared to see everything from flappers, to hourglass silhouettes, to Katharine Hepburn, to the Victorian Era :)

More tomorrow!!!

I'd Rather Waste Time With You

2011-03-25T22:45:00.000-07:00

Meet Ari.

She's our unofficial, half, pseudo-roommate. Self-styled English afficiando and conservative political guru...with a little historian and vocal performance on the side. We actually rearranged our apartment this semester and threw a bed in the living room for her. No, seriously. We did. It doubles as a couch during the day.

Anyways, the point is...Ari is our lovely lady friend...and we decided that today was the perfect day to showcase her perfect representation of the college student wardrobe :D

On another note...this outfit has appeared about three other times on this blog this year--all with some variation of STRIPED SKIRT, solid shirt, kitschy necklace, tights, and boots. But I swear, I've never ever ever ever worn this exact combination before. So there.

<3 Cambria

Mmmmm, Mmmm Good

2011-03-23T18:40:00.000-07:00

To start off with:
THE FRUIT PIZZA!!!

And who can resist boys in aprons???

Don't Forget About Me

2011-03-21T22:04:00.000-07:00

Today's post is actually yesterday's...I just never got around to it because I have spent eight hours working on wedding invitations!!! I had this brainy little idea that I should layer paper, cut 3" strips of grosgrain ribbon, fork both ends, glue it to the paper, and then proceed to apply two miniscule stick-on pearls to each invite. For some reason, I thought that would be simple and swift??? I know, real smart of me.

Thankfully I had some help from the lovely Drayton Wesley and my roomies/friends, or I never would have finished in time. Blah. Anywho...for the outfits...

(It's the Two for Tea necklace Jessica bought me from Classically Romantic!!!)

Tomorrow I will post pictures from our little dinner party at school :) Chicken Saltimbocca and Fruit Pizza, mmmmm!!!

What Are Trees Without Leaves?

2011-03-19T13:07:00.000-07:00

Hello there! Before reading any further, check out this kid's music...here. You will probably love it. :)

Is there anything better than a coffee date with your best girls, sunshine, interesting people watching, good music, and a short to-do list?
I don't think so.
Also, it's the perfect day for cuffed, comfy jeans, and a cozy hoodie. "Spring Casual." This spring, I am finding myself gravitating towards nautical stripes and floral patterns...good thing too because they are everywhere in the stores! Love. It. :)

What's your favorite way to spend a Saturday??

Love,
Jess

P.S- Seriously, listen to the music. :)

My Dear Watson

2011-03-15T12:49:00.000-07:00

And now for my BRAND NEW and rather FABULOUS clearance coat from Modcloth!!! I just fell all over myself when I saw this on sale for 70% off...because it has the most darling London detective vibe. As a fan of Sherlock Holmes (anybody seen the recent BBC episodic version?), I just couldn't keep my hands off of this beauty :)

And look, it has a button in the center of the back. Seriously, lovely fellow bloggers, does it get any better than this?!

I also recently found my new favourite belt...woven faux leather with tassels. Best thing about this belt is the versatility--it's wrap-and-tie, so I can leave the ends as long or short as I want, and wear it anywhere on my body. Within reason, of course. Trusty ol' H&M. Confession--at this moment, I think at least half my closet is from there!

Also...it's warm here. At last, frozen Minnesota is thawing for Spring. Happy dressing these days!

It Don't Matter What You See

2011-03-14T18:21:00.000-07:00

I must begin this post by profusely apologizing for the lack of a "Jessica" photo. This is completely my fault. We had planned to take outfit pics after class today, and I ran amuck in TA work. By the time I was ready for a quick pic, she was gone. Alas!!!

But as for me...I'm again wearing that plaid dress that I truly adore with all my heart (and ironically, both post titles are OneRepublic!). I've said it before...I'll say it again: this dress is just so delightfully easy to wear so many delectable ways. And it's a pleasure every time because the fabric is so soft and loose! C-o-z-y :)

Also throwing in a quick photo from the original Broadway version of the show I'm in this semester. I'm playing Lala Levy in Alfred Uhry's The Last Night of Ballyhoo...it's a fabulous, beautifully written show dealing with the themes of prejudice within ethnic/religious community, specifically Jewish anti-semitism. The show takes place in 1939 Atlanta just when Gone With the Wind premiered...and since my Lala is rather obsessed with Miss Scarlet O'Hara, she just can't resist imitating her style :)

Might Really Know What It's Like

2011-03-07T21:26:00.000-08:00

So in case you haven't noticed, dear readers, my post titles lately have been the lyrics of songs I'm listening to as I'm posting. I always lack such inspiration when titling posts...so since copying is a form of complimentation...I'm taking a musical titling cue from Amanda of Off of Broadway.

On other news, the purchase of these shoes today was practically an example of spontaneous combustion. Ask the fiance. We were shopping for wedding shoes (for him not me) when I spotted them on the DSW clearance rack...for 70% off, mind you. I just burst out with a resounding and unanticipated squeal of delight: "OOOOOOOOOOHHHHH!!!" Within minutes, I had the pair and a fresh sales receipt in my hands. How does that happen? Came out of nowhere. Ex nihilo shopping.

Also...today's outfit is quite the outfit. Different for me. Slouchy boyfriend jeans do absolutely nothing for my particular figure, but they are just so DARN comfy. Thus, I tried to at least make them more feminine and draw out their vintage flair with a bow-tied floral sash/belt and a few strands of beads and pearls :)

<3 Cambria

Yes, He's Mine

2011-03-05T14:47:00.000-08:00

So yes, I'm going to be very romantic and narcissistic and post a few shots from the first half of my engagement pictures :) These were taken by the DELIGHTFUL and stellar Miss Ellie of Elisabeth Hope Photography.

We decided to go for a more relaxed look...thus the plaid, loose sweater, boots, and his outfit with a hoodie and light jeans. We took the pictures downtown on a FREEZING cold day!!! By the time we were done, everyone's hands were absolutely frozen. But we found some pretty sweet locations with the "stage door" sign, empty parking lot by the trucking dock, and fun architecture downtown.

I'm excited for the second half of the shoot...we're doing a more classy, vintage theme "all dressed up" in a gorgeous building downtown. Promises to be quite fun!!! More later :)

And I PROMISE...more outfit pics this week!!!

All That '20s Jazz

2011-02-26T19:42:00.001-08:00

Threw a 1920s-style rip-roarin' party for Jessica's 21st birthday! We had Gin(ger ale), salami/pickle rolls, cubed cheese, green olives, and almond cake. We played poker for chocolates and watched Singin' in the Rain with Gene Kelly (handsomest man ever, yes?). It was a blast from the past!!!

Please also note the beauty spots :)

All My Secrets Away

2011-02-18T11:50:00.000-08:00

Oooooo such lovely spring weather this week (by which I mean we can actually take outdoor pics)!!! You may wonder why this has resulted in fewer outfit photos...I have no good answer :D Just been lazy this week, not to mention Jess has been busy with production week for the show "Boys Next Door."

Kinda went with a plaid theme today, as you may well see...

Looking back over the past several posts, I've realized that I wear these red tights too much. And maybe the black skirt too. Let's be honest.

But denim skirts never get old...so many ways to wear them!!! Doesn't she look adorable :)

<3 Cambria

Happy (late...) Valentine's Day!!

2011-02-15T16:30:00.000-08:00

Hello lovelies!
How was your Valentine's Day? Gosh, I just adore it...a day full of love, and cheesy messages, pink, and red, and sweethearts (never had one on Valentine's Day...but I would assume it would be something special! :) )
Also! Valentine's Day is DOUBLEY special! It's mine (Jessica) and my grandmother's birthday!

So, because it was Valentine's Day Cambria and I decided to dress like a Valentine and receive some interesting looks. But really? There is one day when you dress like this, so why not?
Cambria said I look like a piece of French mail, "mais oui?"

Love,
Jess

Weekend School

2011-02-12T15:35:00.001-08:00

So this outfit definitely rocks the school look...quite unintended for a weekend...just happened...Does that mean school is weighing too much on my mind???

I think the only conclusion that can be drawn is YES, school rules my life right now...right down to my wardrobe! But in the end, if I'm happy with the result...I'll count it okay :) Besides, this put me in a homework mood.

On another note, these red tights are my new favourite pair. I got them on sale at H&M for $7 (cheap!), but even better they are patterned with HOUNDSTOOTH!!! Rocking awesome.

<3 Cambria

Your Love is Strong.

2011-02-08T11:05:00.000-08:00

This is a really quick post that I'm doing before my class that starts in...6 minutes! Intro to Theater...what a drag.

Here's a question, If you could be doing anything at the moment, what on earth would it be???
Also, tell your best friend about Two for Tea. We're getting closer and closer to 100 followers and that's EXCITING! :)

**Hello again, I have more time now....Shall we continue with a brief discussion on the clothing? :)
Don't mind if I do!

Winter is so tricky...Today was the first day in a looonnng time when I didn't wear boots to class...and I thought my toesies were going to fall off my feet and run away. The poor things were so cold! Also, boots are more practical for icy sidewalks and what not.
I really wanted to wear this outfit with my grey wedge heels...but that would have probably been a very bad idea.
This skirt is great, and it's Cambria's :) I have the same one in navy and our roommate has it in olive....it's from H&M and was so cheap!
And the purple shirt... It was suggested I wear more purple as it goes well with my hair? So, here I am, wearing more purple, and loving it! It's just a fun color that brightens up a dreary day. :)
Hope your week is going swell!

Love,
Jess
