Obama bows to Japanese royalty

Standing at over six foot in height, Barack Obama had to bow deeply as he paid his respects to the diminutive Japanese Emperor Akihito.
But the comical sight, which saw the President bend almost double, will no doubt earn him nods of approval in Japan, where a low bow is a sign of great respect and deference.
Obama met the emperor and Empress Michiko at the Imperial Palace today, a stop on his nine-day Asian tour that will also see him take in Singapore and China.

The President, who is strengthening US ties with Asia, reminisced about a childhood visit to Japan and even discussed green tea ice cream during his time in the capital city.

Addressing 1,500 people, Obama pledged his ‘unshakeable’ commitment to Asian security and insisted the US would not be ‘cowed’ by North Korea’s nuclear tests.
He said: ‘I want every American to know that we have a stake in the future of this region, because what happens here has a direct effect on our lives at home.
‘This is where we engage in much of our commerce and buy many of our goods. And this is where we can export more of our own products and create jobs back home in the process.’
He added: ‘I am beginning my journey here for a simple reason. Since taking office, I have worked to renew American leadership and pursue a new era of engagement with the world based on mutual interests and mutual respect.
‘And our efforts in the Asia Pacific will be rooted, in no small measure, through an enduring and revitalized alliance between the United States and Japan.’

Aung San Suu Kyi and Myanmar

On Sunday, President Barack Obama asked the military rulers of Myanmar to release pro democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi during a meeting with one of the top leaders of the country. This morning, Aung San Suu Kyi also requested a formal meeting with the reclusive chief of the country, General Than Shwe.

White house press secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters that president Obama called on Myanmar to release Suu Kyi and other political prisoners. For decades, military leaders of Myanmar have avoided contact with western governments because of the regimes poor human right records and oppression of democracy.

In the last few years, US policy towards Myanmar has become friendlier and the aim is to initiate talks with the generals. One thing is clear; the economic sanctions will not be lifted until Suu Kyi is released. On Sunday, U.S. President Barack Obama presented Myanmar the vision of improved ties with Washington if it frees all political prisoners and changes to a path of democratic reform.

Obama The Noble

Barack Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace prize. Only 2 other U.S. presidents have been awarded this honor. President Theodore Roosevelt won the award in 1906, President Woodrow Wilson in 1919. The Nobel committee praised Obama for his International politics. During his speech Obama stated "Let me be clear. I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments, but rather as an affirmation of American leadership on behalf of aspirations held by people in all nations." He mentioned that he will accept the Nobel Peace Prize as a "call to action" for all nations to address global challenges. To find the ironic in all of this he was awarded the prize just when he is deciding to send more troops to Afghanistan or not. Who knows perhaps him receiving this award will alter his choice.

The Obama's 17th Anniversary

October 3rd 1992 marked the date when Barrack and Michell were married at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. As most would guess they would doing something high key and with public face time, but not for this married couple.

The low key evening was nothing more than Barack spending all day with Michell taking a motorcade to a tavern called the Blue Duck Tavern. After that they went to dinner to an elegant restaurant to tip the final time of there anniversary.

It's not a large story to place for the Obama's ,but it's a break I know they both need. After spending a week full of event's.

I.O.C Denies Chicago

The I.O.C sees its self as a force in international affairs. In shaking the ground when giving the Olympics to China in 2008. The same as to why Rio won the rights to host in 2016. Reason is to give South America their first Olympic games to aide the development of Brazil the largest country on the continent, or so they say.

Chicago was eliminated in the very first round. Many wonder why this was the case. I.O.C Blaming U.S.O.C. Saying there will be no more domestic Olympics until you join the Olympic movement. This being the same reason New York lost in the 2nd round for the 2012 rights to host.

Conversations with I.O.C members and other Olympic officials Friday produced a number of reasons factoring into the second straight slap in the face at a U.S. bid city.

Even with an intense U.S.O.C international relations effort after New York's expected defeat four years ago, the United States is not a player in international sports politics. Obama's impressive international relations effort as a speaker in Chicago's final presentation could not make up for the nation's lack of influence in the Olympic arena.

The largest problem is the controversy about the revenue the U.S.O.C gets from TV broadcasts and I.O.C sponsorships.

It was seen that Chicago was, so sure to win that other cities were given sympathy votes leading to Chicago's elimination in the first round. Making Rio the winner.

I'm disappointed that the I.O.C would let petty issues effect there vote on something that has nothing to do with what they are voting on.. Chicago was denied its opportunity, because of how many people still have a bad taste for America. Maybe it's time for America to start calling in all the IOU's from the countries it help rebuild after World War 2.

Rebirth of U.S. Reputaion

Today Obama sought to insure that the U.S. will host the next Olympics. In hopes to help his foreign policy goals. He vowed that one legacy of the Games would be reestablish America's image in the eyes of the world.

Obama flew to Copenhagen to personally speak in front of the 106 I.O.C. Who will deiced the next place to host the Olympics.

He promised to put "The full force of the White house and the State Department into making sure that not only is this a successful Game. Everyone would feel welcome, and leave with a sense of the incredible diversity of the American people". Obamas speech is seen as giving Chicago a renewed chance at obtaining the rights to host the Olympics

Even before Obama landed his wife Michelle Obama had already been in Copenhagen for 2 days. Giving a moving and impassioned story. Referring to how she watched the Olympics with her father, who developed multiple sclerosis in his early thirties.

"Like so many people, it inspired me and I found myself dreaming, if I worked hard enough I could achieve something great," she said. "[But] I never dreamed that the Olympic flames would one day light up lives in my neighborhood. Today, I can dream and I am dreaming that an Olympic Games in Chicago will light up the lives of neighborhoods across America and across the world, and expose them to new sports and role models that will show every child that regardless of gender, race or physical ability there is a place for them too. That is why I am here today."

Face Book Poll (Kill Obama???!!!!)

As I was looking around wondering if I would have to just spew something boring about the next day Obama was planning. I come across something interesting. A poll was created on Face Book Asking (Should Obama be Killed) before the poll was removed it had already had 730 responses.

The Secret Service and Face Book are working to figure out who placed the poll. I'm sure the person who put it up knows that threatening the life of the president is a crime in the United States.

This is the latest in a series that may point to a rise in hate speech against President Obama.
Organizations that track hate speech have noted an increase of simmilar rhetoric over the summer. Most of it has been since his massive push on health care reform.

All this hostile activity is making me laugh so hard I might have passed a kidney stone without knowing it. I wonder if the guy who put up the poll was at the Pittsburgh G-20 protest. In fact I bet you he/she had a black mask around his/her face to hide who they were. Shame haven't we already had enough crazies with masks?

G-20 Protest

During the 2 day G-20 summit in Pittsburgh. People rallied in Pittsburgh to protest the current issues. Many say that this summit was created to benefit only corporations. That capitalism is the real crisis of our world. Perhaps it's not the best way to progress, but it sure beats slavery don't you think? The largest problem I see with this whole issue is where were these people when the economy was doing great? No one was protesting about capitalism then. Sure you have your small groups who always talk about the establishment and how it's doing wrong by us. Yet I promise you that any of those weed smoking hippies were in the shoes of a CEO making large amounts of money. They would not be talking about *The Man* and how he is bringing us down. To show more insult almost, all of them are covering there faces. They are to afraid to show who they are. Washington didn't cover his face when he was facing the enemy. Lincoln showed his face. Roosevelt Kennedy perhaps I'm comparing great men to close minded hippies. These hippies might as well cover themselves from head to toe in whites sheets. That makes me laugh so hard I think Ill need a new kidney.

Obama's health care reform

Obama explains in 4 minutes how he will revise health care.

The way he explains the reform is if your happy with your health care and doctor keep it.
If you have prior medical illnesses you can't be denied health care, because of it.
You can't lose your coverage when you do get sick.
Health care companies will no longer be allowed to place a certain amount of coverage. *Example(Your plan only covers you up to $100,000) This cap will no longer exist.
Placing a cap on how much you have to pay for medical care. Medical bills can no longer exceed a certain amount.
Insurance companies will be required to support check ups, and appointments that help find problems before they become serious.
A marketplace will be created to allow you to shop for the best price on health insurance.
If you lose your job you can still receive health care.
Tax credit will be given to those who can't afford the lower cost health insurance.
A nonprofit public health care system will be implemented. To insure companies do not take advantage of the people. (Note this plan is also for those who do not have jobs)
No new taxes will be required for this plan to work.
Eliminate waste in the health care system to insure all seniors are given what was promised to them.

Now I know some of you may be worried that even tho they promise all this. That they can't do this without creating new taxes. If they pass this bill what they say can work. Let me put this in perspective the government spent over 2 trillion dollars last year in medical care. I wonder how much of that went to insurance companies.

G20-Meeting

As I follow the entire meeting it seems to me that a lot of things are moving forward, but at the same time I feel they are not moving fast enough. Leaders built on the common front they forged in fighting the financial crisis to chart a shared path toward a more stable banking system and a stronger global economy. (Wait did I hear that right? Stronger global economy!!!!

If I was not mistaken that sounds a lot like saying "Hey we all can have the same profit/loss rate" In my experience if one country is doing well another isn't doing so hot. Unless you stop comparing your currency to a solid value such as rare metals, and start basing it on credit. What about all this bail out money we tried throwing into companies. Personally why didn't they just give it to the people. What's so wrong with people paying off there bills rather than going to the store and spending it. The money is still going to a company,and people will be out of debt. Perhaps I hope for to much of our great Barack Obama. After all he did give a grand speech to the Muslim community. Promising that our troops would leave, and hear we are still in the middle east. Lets not forget the threat in the Middle East now Iran. President Barack Obama says Iran is on notice and will have to come clean" about its nuclear intentions.

In the end nothing will truly get done till next years meeting. Perhaps they wish to take a tea break for a WHOLE YEAR!! Not sure if you mind, but in a year a lot can happen. Who knows maybe Iran will team up with North Korea and start doing war dances as they throw all there nukes around the world. I'm likeing this G20 group already.

I figured I would start out with Barack Obama's roots. Nothing better than getting to know a little about our man in the power chair.

Barack Hussein Obama was born Aug. 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii. After his parents divorce in 1967 he moved to Jakarta, 4 years latter he moved back to Hawaii. Where he lived with his grand parents. In 1983 he graduated from Columbia University in New York with a degree in political science. After working at Business International for 2 years he moved to Chicago. Where he worked as a community organizer with low-income residents in Chicago's Roseland community. Obama entered Harvard Law School in 1988. In February 1990, he was elected the first African-American editor of the Harvard Law Review. Obama graduated in 1991. After law school, Obama returned to Chicago to practice as a civil rights lawyer. Obama's advocacy work led him to run for the Illinois State Senate as a Democrat. He was elected in 1996 from the south side neighborhood of Hyde Park.

Obama also met his wife, Michelle, in 1988 when he was a summer associate at the Chicago law firm of Sidley & Austin. They were married on October 3,1992.

During these years, Obama worked side by side with both Democrats and Republicans in drafting legislation on ethics. He help expanded health care services and early childhood education programs for the poor. Obama also created a state earned-income tax credit for the working poor. And after a number of inmates on death row were found innocent, he worked with law enforcement officials to require the videotaping of interrogations and confessions in all capital cases.

Following the 9/11 attacks, Obama was an early opponent of President George W. Bush's push on war with Iraq. He spoke against a resolution authorizing the use of force against Iraq during a rally at Chicago's Federal Plaza in October 2002.

"I am not opposed to all wars. I'm opposed to dumb wars," he said. "What I am opposed to is the cynical attempt by Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz and other arm-chair, weekend warriors in this Administration to shove their own ideological agendas down our throats, irrespective of the costs in lives lost and in hardships born.

Obama decided to run for the U.S. Senate. In the 2004 Democratic primary, he won 52 percent of the votes, defeating multimillionaire businessman Blair Hull.

In August 2004, diplomat and former presidential candidate Alan Keyes, who was also an African-American, accepted the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. In three televised debates, Obama and Keyes expressed opposing views on stem cell research, abortion, gun control, school vouchers and tax cuts.

In the November 2004, Obama received 70% of the vote to Keyes's 27%, the largest electoral victory in Illinois history. Barack Obama became the third African-American elected to the U.S. Senate since Reconstruction.

In February 2007, Obama announced his candidacy for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination. On November 4th, 2008, Barack Obama defeated Republican presidential nominee John McCain for the position of U.S. President. He is now the 44th president of the United States and the first African-American to hold this office.
