The Dollie Storage Room

She's A TRAITOR! Off With Her Head!

It was the Monday after Christmas and hubby and I had gone out to buy Christmas paper and ribbons at 50% off as we were running out and would need some next year. We figured - why pay full price next year when we could buy them at 50% off after the holidays? So, we decided to go out for breakfast and then hit the stores.

We were gone about two hours and were having a wonderful time. Unbeknownst to us and while we were gone it seems there was a rally which turned into a near riot going on outside our house. Something had gotten the "dollies" all riled up.

We knew there was a problem the closer and closer we got to the house. There was loud chanting going on. Almost as if someone were using a megaphone. Both hubby and I looked at each other at the same time and said, "When did the "dollies" get a megaphone?" And what were they saying?

As we turned into the driveway we heard loud voices all in unison chanting: "She's A TRAITOR!"

"She's A TRAITOR!"

"She's A TRAITOR!"

Hubby and I just looked at each other wondering what was going on.

Then we heard, "She betrayed us!"

"She's deceived us all these years!"

"She's a hypocrite!"

"She's a scamp!"

"And, look at that dog. Who does he think he is?"

With that last remark I knew what was going on. The "dollies" had discovered Molly and Coconut, the American Girl doll and dog that hubby had given me for Christmas. And, they were not happy about it. Not happy at all.

Then I heard, "How dare she bring a manufactured doll into this house. This is a house of handmades - albeit all handmade by Linda. There is no place here for an American Girl doll. No matter how popular they may be."

"We cannot allow this. SHE CANNOT LIVE HERE. Linda will just have to find another place for her to live."

The "dollies" were all out on the lawn - like some sort of rally. There were thousands of them. Chanting and sputtering under their breath. Prancing and shaking their heads. Hands were balled up in fists and they were shouting, "Off with her head!" "Off with her head!" YIKES!!!!

As we got nearer to the garage we noticed there was a podium and someone was standing at it with a megaphone. It was Doris Marie - my savior. Surely Doris Marie wasn't saying "Off With Her Head!"

I couldn't help but wonder. Whose head were they talking about. Mine or Molly's!!!!

Hopefully not mine. But, I didn't want them to lop off Molly's either. She was just too damn cute!

Then we heard Doris say, "Now, now, settle down everyone. You know Linda loves dolls - all sorts of dolls. And, to be fair, she does have other dolls that she did not create. She's not only a doll maker, but a doll collector. So, of course she's going to get other dolls. Isn't she?"

It was Doris Marie talking. Thank goodness. She continued, "She just got this doll on Sunday and hasn't had a chance to talk to us yet - let alone introduce her new doll to us. Let's give her a chance to explain. Shall we?"

"Come on now," Doris said. "She always gives us a chance to explain. We should do the same - shouldn't we?"

The "dollies" all trusted Doris Marie and usually agreed to what she was saying. This time was no different. They all settled down and started back to "The Dollie Storage Room." As they did we heard a little grumbling, as follows:

"Okay!"

"Alright! If we have to - but, I still don't like it!"

"She can explain - but it better be good!"

"Alright!"

"Gee-wiz. Okay!"

"Alright, Doris Marie, but it better be a good one."

With that last remark I knew I had some pretty BIG explaining to do as to why hubby had bought me an American Girl doll and doggie companion for Christmas.

Shadows On The Wall

As we were unloading the groceries from the car I noticed a strange shadow moving across the dining room wall.

Hmmm.....

Should I be afraid?

Was it a burglar?

Were we being robbed?

In the middle of the day?

So, of course, I asked hubby to check it out.

Well, he came back and reported that he hadn't seen anything.

I, of course, thought that was strange.

I knew I had seen a shadow moving across the wall.

And, then, there it was AGAIN!

Slowly moving across the dining room wall.

What the.........???

There was something there.

Just look at those shadows.

Claw like, bat like.... MONSTER LIKE! And, getting bigger!

Definitely kind of eerie if not downright FRIGHTENING!

So, of course, I ran behind hubby and said, "There is something there. Go look!"

As to be expected he came back and said, "There's NOTHING there!"

Now I know I'm not bats, even if the shadows look like bats or claws or even MONSTERS!

I knew I wasn't losing my mind!

So, I begged hubby to take a look AGAIN.

And, then something very, very strange happened.

Hubby, started humming .....ta da da dum, .....ta da da dum

and, started tip toeing into the dining room in a very CREEPY manner.

If I was losing my mind seeing shadows on the wall, well - he had definitely lost his......ta da da dum,.....ta da da dum

Then I heard it.

The music was the same as "The Addams Family" but, the words were a little different.

Yet, I couldn't quite make them out from where I was standing.

I had to get closer.

So, I started towards the dining room.

Then, all of a sudden I found myself tip toeing into the dining room, too.

.....ta da da dum, .....ta da da dum

And, then I saw the shadows, quickly followed by a shape.

It was greenish...... ICK!!!!

Yet, it was a familiar shape.

I knew I had seen it before.

It was dark in the dining room so the images were kind of blurry at first, but I knew I had seen them before.

Then it hit me .....ta da da dum, .....ta da da dum

.....ta da da dum, .....ta da da dum

I should have know it. This was September 1st after all and the start of the "dollies" favorite season - Fall, Halloween, and Thanksgiving.

When the room brightened enough so that I could see I was surrounded by witches, scarecrows, ghosts, goblins, Frankensteins and mummies all CREEPING and tip toeing around.

Everywhere I looked there was a "dollie."

They were having a really, really good time. Singing.........

.....ta da da dum, .....ta da da dum

They're creepy and they're kooky, Mysterious and spooky,

They're all together ooky, The DOLLIE Family.

Their house is a museum Where people come to see 'em

(Neat)

(Sweet)

(Petite)

They really are a scream--The DOLLIE Family.

So get a witches shawl on

A broomstick you can crawl on

We're gonna pay a call on The DOLLIE Family.

It's Almost St. Patrick's Day - Time For A Story!

It's almost time for St. Patrick's Day and "I'm So Lucky Johnny Boy!" thought you might enjoy a story. Of course, it's a story that's been told many times. But, he's got such a huge ego that he never tires of his story and thought you wouldn;t either.

So, sit back and be amused. "I'm So Lucky Johnny Boy" certainly was.

Here's the story:

I was sitting at my computer the other night working when I suddenly heard a sound that was muffled at first and then grew louder and louder. I couldn't make it out at first. I thought it sounded like laughter. Then it sounded like foots stomping. Then it sounded like a herd of wild buffalo at my door! "What is that", I wondered?

I had to get up and investigate which if you know me then you know that when I'm working I don't like to be disturbed. It's hard enough living in a household with 1,796 dolls. All I ask is that when I'm working that I be allowed to work in peace. Is that too much to ask?

Yeah! Dream on, Linda! You think the "Dollies" care that you're working. That’s highly unlikely.

"Well, they will when I get through with them", I said out loud. Of course there was no one there but me to hear that outburst. I know, I'm really brave when I'm talking to myself. It's another story when I'm surrounded by 1,796 dolls.

So, I got up to investigate. Of course, the sound was coming from "The Dollie Storage Room." I should have known. By the time I got over there the stomping was so intense that the floor was shaking. Good grief! The whole house was shaking.

"They're going to ruin the foundation", I exclaimed. "My husband won't like that one bit." He'll say, "We don't have the structural support to handle all that stomping." I had to put a stop to it right away. I didn't want to give my husband yet another reason to get rid of all the "dollies."

It became apparent to me the closer I got to "The Dollie Storage Room" that there was also "Irish" music playing. "Who's playing Irish music", I wondered? Then it hit me. There could only be one culprit. I had only made one of them - two would be more than I could handle. It had to be him.

It had to be "I’m So Lucky Johnny Boy!" - The leprechaun I had made based upon a Sparkles N Spirit Design.

It's bad enough that my husband's grandparents came over on the boat from Ireland and he has a twinkle in his eye and can be every bit as mischievous as a leprechaun. I didn't need a bunch of leprechaun dolls, too. So, I only made one.

Well, given all the racket it was obvious that even one leprechaun in a household could be one too many.

I knew when I finished him that "I'm So Lucky Johnny Boy" could be a charmer. He was every bit as devilish in nature as any leprechaun could be? The twinkle in his eyes could charm the socks off of you? All he had to do was look at you with his rosy cheeks and that twinkle in his eye and you were his volunteering to be his "slave" forever.

He was cunning! He was mischievous! He was resourceful! He could lure "dollies' from far and wide with his promise of "a pot of gold." And, the "Dollies" all loved him. I had to admit that despite all that he was a right fine cobbler by trade. And, if there's one thing I like besides dolls, floral arrangements, and genealogy - its shoes!

So, what had "I'm So Lucky Johnny Boy" done to get the "dollies" all riled up?

I had my hand on the knob to the door of "The Dollie Storage Room" when I heard a loud burst of clapping. "Clapping?" "Who was clapping and what were they clapping for?"

I wasn't prepared for what I saw as I slowly opened the door to "The Dollie Storage Room". "I'm So Lucky Johnny Boy" was sitting on the sidelines clapping at something that was going on in the center of a large circle of dolls. They were all having a "foot-stomping" time with whoever was in the middle of the circle.

I knew I had only made one leprechaun and he was on the sidelines. "Who was causing the dollies to get all riled up if not my leprechaun?" So, I approached the circle and the dollies parted like the parting of the red sea. I couldn't believe my eyes.

In the middle of the circle of "Dollies" was my dear husband dancing a jig. An Irish jig. "What are you doing", I asked him? "Are you out of your mind?"

As he turned to face me he gave me one of his devilish grins. The twinkle in his green eyes was every bit as beguiling as "I'm So Lucky Johnny Boy."

"Why, hello dear", he said. "Won't you come join us?"

"What are you doing, darling", I asked, again?

"Why, I'm doing an Irish jig, of course", he replied. "Come join Me."

"Why are you doing an Irish jig", I responded?

"For the pot of gold, of course", he responded.

I just knew it. "I'm So Lucky Johnny Boy" had somehow lured my husband with the promise of "a pot of gold." I don't know how he did it, but I was determined to find out. As I turned around to confront "I'm So Lucky Johnny Boy" he just vanished.

He'd once again fooled us and then disappeared. I wasn't worried - I knew he'd be back. After all, who can resist 1,796 other "dollies" who just love you and love you and love you some more. Even the most mischievous leprechaun can’t. Why even his pot of gold can't buy love like that.

I closed the door and went back to work.

If They Think I Won't Find Out Who Wrote The Note.......

Yesterday I found the following note on my computer chair. Of course, I was not amused. I might agree with it, but I'm not amused! If the "dollies" think I won't find out who write the note - well, I will...... There's always one "dollie" tattling on another. Just like children!

Here's the story I posted on my Linda's Blog:

Finally, A Story For Three Very Special Primitives!

You know that you're in trouble with the "dollies" when you find a note on your computer chair. It simply said, "You need to do something to resolve this situation. It has gone on way too long."

YIKES!

What does that mean?

What could they be talking about?

As I had no idea what the "dollies" were talking about and who had left the note I decided to just do what I always do with the "dollies" notes and ignore this.

Well, several days later I received another note. This time it said, "You cannot ignore this like all the other things you have ignored! They need a story! They've gone 7 years without one!"

Aha!

A clue.

Which "dollies" had gone seven years without a story?

Hmmm.........

Many, actually, as most of the dolls that I created back in 2004 didn't have stories to accompany their patterns or handmade dolls. So, knowing that narrowed the field considerably. However, that could still mean 23 different dolls.

However, 20 of those dolls were Victorian "Ladies" and I knew they would never in a million years complain or send me a note. They were "ladies" after all and had manners.

So, it had to be my original 3 "raggedies." They were the only ones without stories out of all the rest of the dolls I had created.

Now I knew who it was. I knew for sure that neither of these three dolls had written the note themselves. They were just too timid. It had to have been written by someone else.

Exactly who, I don't know as of yet - but, I will find out. My "dollie spies" will tell me. That's for sure.

So, I'll wait to find out who wrote the note. However, despite the fact that I was annoyed that I had received a note I did have to agree with it that it was about time. Seven years is a long time to go especially if you're having seven years of bad luck. I hope by relaying their stories now that I'm not going to jinx things.

We'll find out in time - I'm sure.

In any event, I knew who the three "dollies" were. And, despite what all the "dollie" thought these three did have stories. I just hadn't conveyed them as of yet.

I guess now is as good a time as any.

The "Dollies" Have Been Busy in 2010!

It's been a busy year for "DOLLS Blog by Linda Walsh Originals." The "dollies" have been strutting their stuff all over the runway at "The Dollie Fashion Show" series that we are running on our "DOLLS Blog by Linda Walsh Originals."

We've seen scarecrows, witches, pumpkins, ghosts, Dracula, Frankenstein, The Headless Horseman, and hard-working Pilgrims. They've been strutting, and shaking, and booing, and hissing - oh. my!

But, they've been having fun. And, better yet, it seems to be keeping them occupied, which means "peace and quiet" in "The Dollie Storage Room" and in our house.

The Dollie Storage Room Stories So Far - They Can be So Demanding!!!!

“Life In The Walsh Household” can be very interesting and challenging at times!

Now, you might be wondering why that is?

Well, if you think living with a bunch of women is difficult try living with over 1,796 dolls. Suffice it to say, it can be downright hazardous at times. Especially given that they all live in “The Dollie Storage Room” which is above our garage.

Plus, add to the mix that we have all kinds of dolls: little boys, little girls, men, women, snow-ladies, snowmen, Victorians, primitives, colonial dolls, country dolls, scarecrows, witches, bunnies, babies, angels, Santa’s, Mrs. Claus, bears, dogs, cats, bee’s, ewe’s, woodland dolls, moose, reindeer, pumpkins, ornies, ornaments, horses, clowns, raggedy Anne’s, raggedy Andy’s, Dracula’s, leprechaun’s gingerbread men, gingerbread women, turkey’s, carolers, Jack Frost, brides, graduation dolls, Uncle Sam’s, flower dolls, Frankenstein’s, ghosts, and pilgrims.

We even have a a chef and a bunch of “Olde Gray-Haired Biddies.” Life in the Walsh Household and “The Dollie Storage Room” can get very interesting and challenging, indeed!

Now I know what you're thinking right now. How can living with a bunch of inanimate objects be interesting and challenging?

Well, because every one of the dolls has an ego bigger than a house and every one of the dolls thinks they are “human” and that they should be afforded the same rights as any other member of the Walsh household. At least that’s what they told me in their “The Dollie Demand’s” letter. I have yet to respond.

In fact, the "dollies" don't even consider inanimate to be a word - certainly not in their vocabulary.

So, life in our household can be very interesting indeed and certainly has been over the past few years. Interesting, tiring, boring, loving, inspirational, fun, hectic, crazy, and downright hazardous - at least to hubby's and my health.

Since we're getting to the holiday season the "dollies" are dropping their Santa's lists by the dozens. I've been finding them everywhere in the house, which is good and bad. Good because it now tells me that the "dollies" are roaming all over the house - unbeknownst to hubby and I. Bad because this could end up being a crisis of epic proportions as you never know what they may be getting into.

So, I've been making a list of where I'm finding the lists and from whom. Whether or not this affects their presents this year is yet to be decided. It all depends on what kind of a mood I'm in when I'm shopping for the "dollies." Good? Bad? Could care less? Just love em? Hmmm......

The Dollie Fashion Show Series - So Far....

Well, the "dollies" have been strutting their stuff all over the runway at "The Dollie Fashion Show" series that we are running on our "Dolls Blog by Linda Walsh Originals."

We've seen scarecrows, witches, pumpkins, ghosts, Dracula, Frankenstein, The Headless Horseman, and hard-working Pilgrims. They've been strutting, and shaking, and booing, and hissing - oh. my!

But, they've been having fun. And, better yet, it seems to be keeping them occupied, which means "peace and quiet" in "The Dollie Storage Room" and in our house.

It Was A Graveyard Smash! They Were Doing The Monster Mash!

The other day I just had a feeling that the day was not going to be a normally peaceful day.

I don't know why - just a feeling I got.

But, as the morning progressed and nothing strange had happened I started to think the day was going to be okay.

That was foolish on my part.

You see, the day turned out to be anything but normal. It was actually a cool, crisp day to the start of Fall which was a pleasant relief from all the hot, humid days we've been experiencing.

So, hubby and I decided to go for a walk. Since it was so beautiful out we decided to go for a long, leisurely stroll - and that was our mistake!

As we were pulling into the driveway hubby and I got a sense that something wasn't right.

The ground was shaking and the house was being rocked off it's foundation.

And, we do mean off its' foundation - hard as that may seem for you to believe.

We looked at each other and said, "what on heaven's earth is going on?"

The house was literally rocking to and fro.

As we gingerly stepped out of the car we realized it couldn't be an earthquake as the ground under our feet wasn't moving - thank goodness for that!

But, the house was still rockin to and fro!

YIKES!

And, out of the corner of my eye I thought I saw movement in the windows.

Not just movement in one window - but, all of the windows. As if someone were peeking out the windows and realized too late they had been seen.

Now we knew something was going on inside the house.

And, then we heard it - LOUD music.

Not just any music, but the song "The Monster Mash" by Bobby "Boris" Pickett was playing louder than was acceptable in our neighborhood.

We were surprised that we hadn't heard the LOUD music as we were driving up the street.

We were even more surprised that none of our neighbors could hear it.

In fact, our next door neighbor came out and waved at us as he got in his car. He didn't seem to hear the LOUD music.

We looked at each other and said, "He didn't hear that?"

How can he not hear that?

It's extremely loud.

Catchy, but LOUD.

It was catchy and we did have to admit - how can you not like "The Monster Mash?"

It's definitely a song that gets your feet moving.

However, it seems we were the only ones who could hear the music.

We could see from where we were standing in the driveway that there was definite movement inside the house.

Not just any movement. There seemed to be many, many people dancing.

On closer inspection we realized that it wasn't people dancing - it was the Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Fall dolls dancing.

They were having a party while we were out. A "Monster Mash" party.

At this point I could see that hubby was perspiring.

I thought for sure he was getting angry and that within a few minutes his blood would be boiling.

Then the strangest thing happened - he started to do "The Monster Mash" right out in the driveway.

"It was a graveyard smash"......right in our driveway.

"The Monster Mash!"

"It caught on in a flash!"

And, then my arms and legs started moving.

I was doing "The Monster Mash" right out in our driveway.

Two old fogies doing "The Monster Mash!"

"The scene was rockin', all were digging the sounds!" Even us, in the driveway.

Everyone was doing "The Monster Mash!"

"It caught on in a flash!"

"The Monster Mash!"

But, everything wasn't cool.

The house was still rockin' and our feet were still mashing. It had to stop. We had to stop it.

But, "The Monster Mash" was the hit of the land.

Well, make that the hit of our house.

The dolls were all filing out of the door in single order.

Ghosts, witches, mummies, Dracula, Frankenstein, pilgrims, scarecrows, even turkey's, - all doing "The Monster Mash!" Right in our driveway.

We realized it couldn't be stopped.

Why, "it was a graveyard smash!"

So, hubby and I looked at each other and decided that life was just too short not to enjoy yourselves.

Albeit we were doing "The Monster Mash" with thousands of dolls.

We looked at each other and said, "what a scene this must be for the neighbors!"

But, none of the neighbors were coming out of their houses.

In fact, our next door neighbor returned and just waved at us before he went into his house.

That was strange!

Then we thought, "for sure he could see everyone in our driveway doing "The Monster Mash!"

Couldn't he?"

Or, was it just hubby and I looking ridiculous by ourselves?

Could we be doing "The Monster Mash!" all by ourselves?

Or, were we even doing "The Monster Mash" at all?

Was it all just in our imagination?

Weren't we just doing "The Monster Mash" with thousands of dolls?

Well, in the case of our dolls maybe we should call them "monsters!" "Monsters" for all the trouble they cause us.

In any event, I guess we'll never know.

That day was anything but normal.

Strange, but in a way glorious.

How can you not like "The Monster Mash?"

"It catches on in a flash!"

So, when you get to our door this Halloween, tell them Boris sent you.......

Then you can mash

Then you can monster mash

The monster mash

And do my graveyard smash

Then you can mash

You'll catch on in a flash

Then you can mash

The "Dollies" Got Their Way - Again!

As a reader of my Linda's Blog , Dolls Blog , and The Dollie Storage Room Blog you are probably well aware that my dollies have minds of their own. Maybe that's even an understatement. They have strong wills and strong points of view.

Plus, they have a distinct advantage over me in sheer numbers. There are literally thousands of them in the "Dollie Storage Room."

Yes, I know - my creative juices have gotten the better of me in the last few years. I, simply, have made way too many dolls. That's neither here nor there now. The fact is there are a lot of them. And, when they want something - well, THEY WANT IT! They're just so demanding.

The other day I heard rumbling and knew right away that it was coming from "The Dollie Storage Room."The "dollies" were up to something and making a lot of noise. I could only wonder what that was all about. So, what do they want now?

For sure, I knew it would just be a matter of time before they told me - or demanded something.

Well, it seems the "dollies" had gotten together and decided that 4 years was long enough to wait. They wanted to put on another "Dollie Fashion Show." The last one was in 2006 and this was 2010!

This time they decided they wouldn't even ask me if that was "okay." My opinion, I guess, no longer matters. They wanted to do this, and so they will. Since ours is a democratic household, they out number me 1,000 to 1, there wasn't much I was going to be able to do. Even if my vote were to count double or triple or more, they'd still far out number me.

A little while later I got a message that "Doris Marie" wanted to see me. Whenever the dollies want to smooth things over with me they always sent "Doris Marie."

After all, she is named after my Grandmother and, well, you pay attention to your Grandmother - don't you?. So, Doris Marie came to see me. And, it seems she'd brought a picture, flowers, and a list with her. Hmmmm...... This was interesting..... Hmmmm????

Well, the dollies decided that they really didn't want me to be mad at them or feel excluded. So, since they were going to put on a fashion show (for a good cause - their own!) they decided to smooth things over with me.

They wanted some advice - at least that's what Doris Marie told me. Of course, what they really wanted was me to write about a few of them in a "The Dollie Fashion Show" series on my Linda's Blog , Dolls Blog , and The Dollie Storage Room Blog .

It seems Doris Marie had brought a framed picture of me in my one and only fashion show, flowers, and a list of the dolls participating in the fashion show. They figured I'd love the flowers - which I did. And, they figured I'd love the picture of myself - which I did. That, of course was over 35 years ago - in my youth when I looked really good. Okay, I still look good - just older and a lot heavier!! Ah, the aging process is wonderful - isn't it?

In any event, the list was so I knew who to write about. After all, each of the "dollies" wanted their own post. With 1, 796 dolls (most of whom were participating) this was going to take a very long time. I only hoped that several would be walking down the runway together so I could write about some of them as a group. One can hope!

Well, Doris Marie is just so darn cute it's hard to refuse her. She knows that I can't win when it comes down to a battle of the brains debate. She always wins. She's just too darn smart. Either that, or I'm too darn old and tired.

In any event, since the "dollies" had already decided they were going to do this whether I liked it or not all I could do was refuse to write about them. But, what good would that do. They'd pout and shout and stamp their feet 24 hours a day 7 days a week and hubby and I would get no sleep - let alone peace in the house. So, I agreed to write about them in another "Dollie Fashion Show" series.

They decided that they wanted the theme of the fashion show to be "Everything and Anything!" With that kind of theme you never know what you're going to see. So, I walked over to "The Dollie Storage Room" and stood on the podium.

"Okay, ladies...Um...I mean "dollies" settle down. Please settle down."

"Ladies, Um..Gentlemen, Um..Girls, Um....Boys, Um..Snowmen, Um...Raggedies. Um... I'd like your attention. I'd like to say a few words to you."

"You're trying my patience!" I said. "If this room does not quiet down in the next minute you are all going to the bottom of the "dollie" scrap material pile - never to be seen or heard from again. Maybe even taken apart to be remade into something else! Like a pillow or a crazy quilt!"

"YIKES!" And, with that statement you could hear a pin drop in "The Dollie Storage Room."

After all, the "dollies" all prided themselves on their own beauty, their own uniqueness, their own wonderfulness, their own individuality. They could never allow themselves to be taken apart for scraps of material to make a pillow or a crazy quilt. No way! Why that was just inhuman!

But, alas, they were only "dollies" and I could do what I wanted with them. Talk about the ultimate power. I could make them into crazy quilts if I wanted to. But, I wouldn't ever do such a thing - would I?

None of the "dollies" wanted to take that chance and find out. No sireee!!!! None of them. So, they all settled down.

"Okay, ladies and gentlemen -- I mean "dollies, animals, snowmen, raggedies, primitives, witches, pumpkins, dolls...." When I say "dollies" I mean all of you, okay? Not male, not female. Not boy, not girl. Not animal, not snowmen. I'm using the term "dollies" to encompass all of you. Okay?"

"If you're in agreement, please raise your hands," I said.

And, with that all of the "dollies" raised their hands (that is, if they had hands). Some of the animals raised their paws and some of the other crafts tipped their heads, bowed, honked or did something to indicate they were in agreement.

I said, "I just wanted to let you all know that I think another "Dollie Fashion Show Series" is a fabulous idea. And, if you had come to me to ask if you could do this - I would have said okay and we wouldn't have had all this noise - all this fuss - all this too do."

"I would have said yes right away. See, you don't know me as well as you think you do! "

With that all the "dollies" felt bad and started to rush the podium. I was overrun with "dollies" trying to make amends. Trying to hug and kiss me.

I raised my hand and said, "Stop! I know you all feel bad about this. I really do and I thank you for wanting to hug and kiss me but, you can't all do it at once. So, just blow me a kiss and that will be enough."

Well, with the number of "dollies" all blowing a kiss at the same time I knew there would be a wind gust. So, I held on to the podium and smiled and thanked them and then went to comb my hair.

I guess it's time for more fashion shows. I'd better get to writing.........

I Just Love It!

YoVille Linda was so happy she could hardly contain her enthusiasm. She had been working double shifts at the factory to save enough money to buy a house. And, she had finally done just that. She had bought her first house. A ranch style home just like the type Linda herself had lived in when she was growing up.

She was so excited and as proud as a peacock. She could hardly wait to show everyone her new home. She had decorated her living room, bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen in her favorite "girly girl" style and "retro kitchen" style.

She had a garage that she was using for now as a craft/hobby and den. After all she didn't have a driver's license - let alone a car. And, she always wanted a craft and hobby room. Why not use the garage?

And, best of all, she had a yard. Well, a front yard anyway. She was sure there was a backyard, but, she wasn't at a high enough level in the YoVille game to see that just yet. In time - she'd get there in time. For now she could sit on her front lawn. And, she could have her flower garden. Her fingers were just itching to do some gardening.

But, for now she was happy that she had finally moved in and could show off her new abode. So, what do you think? How do you like YoVille Linda's new house?

What Is Wrong With Her? You Can't Move In A Fancy Dress!

Patience was pacing back and forth, back and forth. Wringing her hands and muttering, "What is wrong with her? Doesn't she know you can't move in a fancy dress? She can't do that. It'll get all dirty. And, then what would she wear for her date? Doesn't she know you can't move in a fancy dress? What is wrong with her?"

"Calm down Patience. Just calm down and tell me what the matter is," Doris Marie said.

"Oh, Doris Marie. This time Linda has really gone too far. Too far indeed!"

"What, Patience. What are you talking about?" Doris responded.

"It's Linda, Doris Marie." She's making YoVille Linda move into her new house today. She can't do that. She's still wearing her fancy dress. She can't move all her stuff while wearing her fancy dress. It'll get ruined. Then, what will she wear for her date?" Patience replied.

"Well, Patience," Doris Marie responded. "I'm sure Linda will have her change into her jeans so she doesn't get her fancy dress ruined. Either that or Linda has hired movers to move YoVille Linda into her new house. I'm sure that's it. She's hired movers."

Doris Marie really didn't think Linda would let YoVille Linda move all her stuff in her beautiful new dress. Or, would she? Hmmmm......

"Come on Patience. Just calm down." Doris Marie said. "Let's go congratulate YoVille Linda on the purchase of her new home. After all, she worked double shifts at the factory in order to save enough money to buy her new home. Let's go congratulate her. Okay, Patience?"

"Alright, Doris Marie. Let's go congratulate her. You're probably right. Linda probably did hire movers to help YoVille Linda." Patience replied. "Let's go congratulate her. Should we bring a house warming gift?"

"Well, you're right about that, Patience. I guess we should bring her a house warming gift. What do you think YoVille Linda would like?" Doris asked.

So, off they went - hand in paw - to the gift store to buy YoVille Linda something nice for her new home.

Well, Have You Seen Her? Have You Seen YoVille Linda's New Outfit?

"Oh, My!" "Doesn't she look lovely, Doris?" Patience asked Doris.

"Well, yes she does, Patience," Doris Marie replied. "She looks lovely indeed! What is she all dressed up for?"

"Well, I'm not sure, Doris Marie, but I think she's got a date."

"A date?" Doris Marie responded. "Hmmmmm..... But, she doesn't have any male friends in YoVille. Where would she meet someone?"

"Well, I'm not sure," Patience said. "Maybe, one of her YoVille friends set her up on a blind date."

"Well, that's possible, Patience. Maybe she did."

Well, what Doris Marie and Patience didn't know was that YoVille Linda had been secretly been using Linda's computer late at night and had become a member of one of the more popular website dating services. She had taped her video and had given them her profile information and was waiting to see who they would hook her up with. In the meantime she had bought a few new outfits and was trying each of them on to see which one she liked best as she was anticipating that she'd have a match soon.

She was hoping that she'd be matched with someone nice. Well mannered, intelligent, and with a good sense of humor. And, secretly she was hoping that he would be good looking. Not that looks were all that important, but, they certainly would sweeten the pot.

YoVille Linda just didn't want Linda to know that she was hoping for a good looking guy. Linda would tell her that looks were not important. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What counts is what's on the inside and whether or not he was a good person. Looks were secondary. Yada, yada, yada....

YoVille Linda knew that. It was just that she was going to have to look at this person from a flat dimension forever so she might as well enjoy the view. What's so wrong with that? After all his image on the computer screen had no dimension. Just a flat front and flat back image. If that's what she had to look at all day, she'd at least like it to be attractive. So, she secretly had her fingers crossed that he'd be good looking. Just don't tell anyone that - especially Linda.

In the meantime she was trying out her teal blue dress and shoes. So, what do you think - do you like her new outfit?

It's Just Not Fair! She's Just an Avatar!

"Everyone is just so hurt by this, Elmer. She's just an avatar. Why would an avatar need furniture? And, Linda is spending way too much time with her," Patience exclaimed. "The "dollies" are really hurt by this. I don't know what to do!"

"She has a living room, bedroom, kitchen, and even a bathroom. Why does an avatar need with any of this? And, why would she need a bathroom? She's not human, like we are, " Patience exclaimed.

"What should I do Elmer?"

"Well, Patience," Elmer replied "I think you should tell Doris Marie or Helena. They know exactly how to handle Linda and will get to the bottom of this. There has to be a good explanation for this. We all know Linda loves us and wouldn't do anything to hurt our feelings. Certainly not intentionally."

"Yes, I think you should show Doris Marie and Helena the pictures. But, before you do let me see them again."

In looking at the pictures "Elmer's Little Boy" couldn't help but admire Linda's lovely taste in decorating. Her "girlie girl" selection for Linda's YoVille apartment was quite pretty. So, he could understand how the other "dollies" would get hurt by this. After all, "The Dollie Storage Room" hadn't been touched in years. In fact, it wasn't even finished - no decorations at all. Just the bare wood walls of a storage room."

"I do have to say, Patience, that Linda did a nice job with the Linda's YoVille apartment decorations. They really are very pretty, "Elmer exclaimed. "Plus, truth be told, the Linda avatar really is a cutie pie."

"Yes, Elmer the decorations are really pretty. And, I, too love how "girlie girl" they are and know the other "dollies" would love to live in such a place. It's just that Linda has never decorated "The Dollie Storage Room" and the other "dollies" think she's spending way too much time with the Linda avatar in YoVille," Patience replied. "Wouldn't you agree?"

"Well, I guess I would have to agree," Elmer responded.

It really had been a long time since Linda has turned her attention to "The Dollie Storage Room. In fact, he was surprised that the "dollies" hadn't revolted already. They were on the verge of it last year and Linda managed to calm them down. But, this might just be the catalyst for a new revolt and Linda may not be able to prevent it.

"Yes, Patience. Definitely show the pictures to Doris Marie and Helena. They will know what to do," Elmer responded as he handed the pretty pictures back to Patience.

I Can Hardly Wait To Tell Everyone!

"Patience Is A Virtue" could hardly control herself. She just had to run back to "The Dollie Storage Room" and tell everyone. Linda had finally done a YouTube video. Albeit it was about Linda Walsh Originals and not about each of them individually, but it was a start.

Maybe now Linda would consider doing some video's about life in "The Dollie Storage Room" or, better yet, letting the "dollies" develop their own video's.

"Patience" knew for sure that Linda would do the former, but wasn't too sure that Linda would go for the latter.

Oh, well" she explained, "we'll just have to wait and see."

In the meantime she could hardly wait to get home.

She had such exciting news.

How Lucky Am I? But, Will The "Dollies" Like Her?

Yesterday I was singing and blogging about being at "The End Of A Long Odyssey!" and figured that I couldn't be happier and couldn't be luckier.

Well, I couldn't be more wrong. I actually could be luckier and could be happier. How can that be?

Well, this morning I awoke to a snowstorm - which, by the way, doesn't make me happy. At our ages hubby and I just don't like snow anymore. It's beautiful to look at, but requires way tooooooo much work to clean-up. And, this winter is just not cooperating.

In any event, I wasn't happy to see all the "white" this morning and then I decided to check my email.

Not only did I have one wonderful email, but two this morning. Two emails that changed my mood and my perspective.

The first email was from a wonderful woman, who also happens to be an astonishing doll maker, who told me that she had downloaded my "How To Create A Print Pattern and E-Pattern" Free E-Book and wanted to thank me for sharing this information with her and for helping her.

For me, I couldn't be happier to hear this. You see, all my pleasure comes from knowing that I've helped someone else and to hear this just warmed my heart on a cold, snowy day.

I was in a great mood after I sent my email back to her and thought - well, it might just be a good day after all - snow and all!

Then I read another one of my emails. Well, this was a comment left on one of my blogs that said I had won a doll in a blog giveaway contest.

Her name is Hannah and she was created by Shirley of Skellyton Art Originals Designs and was donated by her as part of a Kindred Sisters Gathering Post blog giveaway.

Needless to say I was thrilled. As you can tell from the picture above Hannah is a beautiful doll.

I was five years younger, of course I believed her when she told me of the people buried under our bed. Why wouldn't I? There were dead people across the street. We spent many hours in the dark watching Dracula, Wolfman,Twilight Zone or any spooky movie we could find. Then I would lay in the bed with the covers up to my neck and a crucifix over our bed watching for Dracula or any monster to creep into the room.

Hannah is a beautiful doll and I can hardly wait to see her. But, Hannah is not the only beautiful doll Shirley and her daughter have made. You really need to go to their blog and watch the slideshows of all their creations. They really are wonderful, wonderful dolls - each a work of art all unto themselves.

I wish I could own them all. But, I'm thrilled just to have Hannah. I hope the rest of my "dollies" love her as much as I do. We'll see - my "dollies" can be very jealous and very temperamental.

Today I received two wonderful emails. Thanks from a customer and the winning of a beautiful handmade doll. It doesn't get much better than this.

Big Brother Andy, Kid Brother Randy, Big Sister Annie, and Kid Sister Fannie

Siblings will be siblings and teasing amongst siblings has gone on since time began. While they might fight and tease each other they also adore each other and when it comes to families - well, blood is blood.

They can joust and wrestle all in good fun. Sometimes even accidentally hurting one another for which they secretly feel horrible. Kidding amongst family and fighting amongst family is just that - it's amongst family.

However, beware anyone who tries to hurt a member of their family. Then the gloves are off and you really see how much they will protect one another. How much they really do love and care for each other.

Big Brother Andy, Kid Brother Randy, Big Sister Annie, and Kid Sister Fannie are a loving, teasing, caring, fighting, wrestling, (and occasionally hair pulling) tight knit family. They are thick as "mud" and protective of each other to the core.

"Hey, cut that out!" "I said cut that out!" "Stop it!" "Mom, Randy hit me!" "Mom, Randy won't leave me alone!" "Get out of my room!" "I'm warning you.........." YIKES! "Andy, stop chasing your little brother!"

As you know the "dollies" and I just love dolls and love checking out all the NEW books about dolls and doll making. Well, in doing so we or I should say the "dollies" decided to update our Linda's Doll Bookstore.

We gave it a whole NEW look, added tons and tons of NEW books, and added tons of NEW categories. Of course, they did all the ordering about and I did all the work.

There Are Scarecrows Everywhere!

I have made so many wonderful scarecrow dolls over the years and wanted to show some of them to you.

So, I thought the easiest way to show them all to you was with my slideshows. I created two separate slideshows. The first is all of my Linda Walsh Originals scarecrow designs and the second is all the other scarecrows I have made based on other designers patterns. Each of the other designers has been credited for their design on the respective page of my website that the handmade doll is for sale on.

Okay! Enough Is Enough!

Well I got another ultimatum from the "dollies" the other day. All it said was was "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! AND, WE HAVE BEEN PATIENT ENOUGH!"

After I read it I thought, "I guess I have been a little amiss in working on The Dollie Storage Room Blog."

I've just been so busy with all the new patterns and new handmade dolls that I've kind of neglected all the other "dollies" and their blog. And, for sure, they weren't going to let me get away with that!

So, to appease them I told them that I would post some of their wonderful slideshows starting with the scarecrows I have designed and scarecrows I have made based upon other designers patterns.

Hopefully, that should keep them happy for just a little while. We'll see.....

The "Dollies" and I Updated Our Linda's Doll Bookstore

We finally had a chance to update our Linda's Doll Bookstore.

As you know the "dollies" and I just love dolls. So, it is only natural that we would love collecting books about dolls, doll making, doll stories, doll history, paper dolls, cloth dolls, Victorian dolls, colonial dolls, porcelain dolls, clay dolls, doll collecting, doll clothes, miniature doll houses, fashion dolls, cultural dolls, clothespin dolls, Japanese dolls, Hopi Kachina dolls, needle felted dolls, "Raggedies", bears, animals, reborn babies, Shirley Temple dolls, wood dolls, plush dolls, paper dolls, puppets, crocheted dolls, altered art dolls, mixed media dolls, art dolls, African American dolls, Barbie dolls, Webkinz, and more. In essence, anything and everything relating to dolls.

We've selected many, many books that we think you will enjoy. Many of them we have bought for our collection of books about dolls. Sometimes we add other products about dolls that we think you might like, too.

We added all the new releases and pre-releases of dolls and doll making books between January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2008. There are 40 new books there that we hope you will enjoy.

Against My Better Judgement - Here's The Bunny Slideshow!

There are just too many of them hopping around all over "The Dollie Storage" room that I had to give in. The house kept jumping every time they would jump and with that many bunnies jumping who knows what kind of damage they could do to the house.

Plus, I had caught a break. Hubby was out and didn't know what was going on. If he need, well, let's just say it wouldn't be pretty. There would be a LOT fewer "dollies" in "The Dollie Storage Room!"

So, I decided to give in to all their enthusiasm and agree to show their slideshow here on their "The Dollie Storage Room" blog.

I also agreed to add the slideshows to the sidebar with one playing for each season or event. We have 42 different slideshows so there will ALWAYS be one playing.

The lengths I have to go to keep the "dollies" amused. It's okay as long as they just stop jumping.

But, We Want A Dog!

"Come on Linda!"

"PLEASE! PRETTY, PLEASE!"

"Absolutely, Not!"

"But, we want a dog. We promise to take good care of it!"

"Yeah, right! Like I haven't heard that before."

I knew better and knew that there was no way I was going to get the "dollies" a dog. A living, breathing mammal that had real needs being taken care of by a group of inanimate "dollies." I don't think so. No matter how much they beg me I will not give in to this demand.

"PLEASE!"

"NO! Now leave me alone. I'm busy!"

"Aw.........!"

"That means you, too, Doris Marie."

"Okay, Linda. I'll be on my way," Doris responded. "I just thought I'd mention something I saw the other day while surfing the Internet. It might be the solution to giving the "dollies" a pet without really having to worry about it being taken care of."

"Hmmm...," Linda responded. "What exactly is your idea?"

I was intrigued and knew that if Doris Marie was suggesting it that it probably was a well thought out idea. She was smart as a whip, practical, and very logical in everything she did. So, it had to be good. Right?

So, I responded, "Okay, Doris Marie. Let's hear it."

"Well, I found out the other day that they actually have widgets for interactive pets. That is - computerized pets. You can play with them and take care of them on the computer."

"Sound interesting, Doris Marie, " Linda responded. "Go on."

"Well, given how the "dollies" can never decide on anything amongst themselves I thought that selecting either an interactive dog or interactive cat would be a problem. The girls would all want the kitten and the boys would all want the dog. They'd never agree," Doris said.

She continued, "Then I found this. The World's Smallest Aquarium. They could keep it on the blog and take turns feeding the fish every day. No disputing. No complaining about not having a pet. No "which pet" choices to make. Is that wonderful or what?"

"That's a brilliant idea, Doris Marie," Linda responded. "I Love it. Yes, yes - an interactive aquarium. I'm going to get it right now."

So, I did and here it is. I hope you and all the "dollies" love it.

This next widget that the "dollies" wanted me to add to their sidebar is a "no-brainer!"

It's a "dollhouse" widget! A "dollhouse" for "dollies" - how appropriate! An "Itty Bitty Doll House." In other words, an interactive dollhouse.

Have FUN playing "dolls" with the "dollies!"

However, it was a little too big to add to the sidebar of their "The Dollie Storage Room" blog the way it was. So, I had to shrink it a little. That's okay. At least they can't say I didn't add it to their blog.
