BET Awards show....Was Chris Brown legit? What the hell was Kanye thinking?

So the annual BET Awards premiered last night, celebrating it's 10 years strong. They have a lot of 10 years celebrating going on. I must say, while some of my friends may disagree with me, I thought the show was very good.

I'm a big fan of Queen Latifah, so when I heard she was hosting, I knew she would do a good job and she didn't fail me. I loved the fact that she changed outfits that represented characters she'd played in movies. Creative, though one or two i couldn't figure out who she was dressed as.

Anyway, the show was filled with grand comeback appearances from performers. T.I., who was recently released from prison performed, Kanye West performed for the first time sans the Taylor Swift interruption catastrophe, but the trophe for best comeback performance hands down went to Chris Brown. Because he kept a low profile after the incident with Rihanna, he wasn't in attendance for last year's award show which did a dedication to the King of Pop only days after his death. Dressed in the outfit that MJ wore during the "The Way You Make Me Feel" video and the clothes similar to what MJ borrowed from his mother's closet during the Motown celebration, Chris Brown did an amazing tribute. AMAZING. The boy's moves were on point which isn't that much of a surprise because I always felt he would be the best guy for the job to mock Michael Jackson.

Many people now are wondering if Chris Brown was "putting on" with his crying during his performance or if people should forget about his assault on Rihanna just because he did a good performance last night....My opinion? I feel Chris was legit. He's a 21 year old kid who made a very bad mistake. BUT, he's taken his whippings and he needs to be left alone about that. And as viewers who have no ties to him, Rihanna, or either of their families, we have no right to say much about it. If he got things right with God about it and some type of agreement together with Rihanna....that's all that should concern him. Media doesnt need to keep getting beating on the boy.

Another thing about the BET Awards that entranced me were the throwbacks, i.e. Prince and El Debarge. I absolutely LOVE them! There wasn't a song I didn't like from El Debarge and Prince is THE only man I know that can prance around in high heels and I not question his masculinity. Strange. LOL.

Larenz Tate is still delicious! He and Nia Long look so cute together, quoting from their Love Jones days! I wish they'd get married!

I, Shay, a 2010 college graduate with thousands of dollars in student loans under my belt am working in a factory. It's just a summer job--put a little money in my pocket--and I couldn't be more disgusted. I've been job searching and submitting resumes since before my graduation date and I've heard nothing. A recession is not a good time for a student to jump into the real world, I've come to learn. So I'm stuck, til August anyway, scanning boxes and sweating like a sinner in church making literally $1.40 more than what I made working as a club house monitor at my college apartment. I'm not pleased but as the saying goes, "Everything in due time". My opportunity will come and I'll have my own apartment, car, and british bulldog named, Buddha soon.

Till then, I'll continue to wake up at 6am every morning, scan boxes for 12 hours, come home at 7pm just to get ready to do it all over again tomorrow! I'm off to bed people!

So I tried the Ipad........whatever....

I definitely don't think it's all it's cracked up to be. I'm sorry. Not even Oprah's seal of approval on the device is enough for me to put it on my wish list.....and I love Oprah! It's a giant Ipod! A device shaped like a big ass picture frame, run totally on apps and is completely fingerprint prone....will NOT make me put down my desktop or my laptop and convert. No way. Nothing beats running multiple programs at the same time without risking shutting one down to run another. And as far as design is concerned, it feels like I would cramp holding that thing for more than an hour! Let's see....A laptop I can sit on my LAP and type onto a screen that folds up AND down? Or, an Ipad that.....well.....doesnt?

No contest for me! I'm keeping my PC!!

Please......PLEASE tell me you've heard about this guy in South Carolina claiming to run for the US Senate?! If not, I'll tell you his name is Alvin Greene.....or Alvin Green and as I stated earlier he is the candidate for US Senate for South Carolina. According to him, he's served in the military for a number of years and was stationed in Iraq. He was honorably discharged but his dismissal was involuntary....hmmm. People are wondering if this guy is full of crap. While neither political party raised any eyebrows during their primaries, no one knows how he could've won his candidacy when he had no commercials, no fliers and no public speeches (that people know of anyway). Congressman Clyburn thinks he's a plant put in by the Republican party and is demanding an investigation be made. That, comes along with another investigation between the police about Greene's alleged felony of sending indecent internet pictures to an unsuspecting college student.

What else is weird about this guy, you ask? Ok, I'll tell you. Two political officials in S.C. claim that he may be mentally incompetent and when you look at it........I can't say that I blame them.

No job, "involuntarily" dismissed from the army (that's if he was a military man to begin with....you have no pictures?), his speech is for a lack of a better word--odd, he lives with his parents, has no car, received $10,000 to support his campaign with his savings from the military and won the democratic race against Vic Rawl for candidacy?

What do I believe? I believe Alvin Greene is VERY mentally disturbed. Do I think he was a Republican plant? I don't know. Could be. Politics is a dog eat dog profession. For all I know, Tea Party members volunteered this obviously mentally handicapped man, gave him a bogus platform, 3 rehearsed sentences that he uses in EVERY interview and $10k to do alittle something something with. But surely his parents wouldn't condone putting their son on blast with the public like that.......or would they? You pay some people enough money and they'd walk a tight rope from Florida to Tokyo and back if you asked them to. And then it may just be some military man who was deemed mentally incompetent and involuntarily removed because he possibly went nuts in Iraq and decided to run for office months ago on his own free will.

I can't pin point it, but SOMETHING'S not right and with the investigations pending on the felony charge Greene has, we'll find out the truth eventually.

I'm a registered Democrat, but if I lived in South Carolina, I think I would vote Republican just to see him NOT in office.

I ran into this site probably...........uhhhhh........five years ago and it's given me some good advice on how I should write my stories.

How to Write Fan Fiction

I find it a little funny reading the top line: 184 quick and easy hints to improve writing. 184? Seriously? 184 anything is NOT quick nor easy. I don't know all these tips by heart but I recorded to memory some of the tips I knew I would need to refer to often.

Some of my favs are:

16. READ OTHER AUTHOR'S FANFICTION.
25. IF SOMEONE READS YOUR FAN FICTION, RECIPROCATE. I follow this to a "T"
26. RESEARCH.
27. WRITER'S BLOCK. Very unique rule!
40. FIVE STEPS TO CREATE A CHARACTER:
42. GO TO A MALL FOR CHARACTERS.
56. CHARACTER NAMES.
61. KEEP YOUR PERSONALITY OUT OF YOUR CHARACTER'S. I have trouble remembering this!
71. WRITE A VERY SHORT OUTLINE FOR THE STORY.
75. CAPTURE THE READER'S INTEREST IMMEDIATELY. I do this ALL the time! Love it!
140. INSPIRE THE READER'S EMOTIONS.
153. TIE UP ALL LOOSE ENDS.
168. DON'T TRY TO WRITE THE PERFECT STORY.

And he also has a section near the bottom that gives you a run down of various beats (I didn't know there was a word for lines placed before or after dialogue), emotion, verbs and sounds that he's researched in other books and found useful for times when you're looking for "THAT word". You know what I mean. :-)

I find him pretty usual. Though I think he's missing a rule: Rule 185- Have fun. You can't make it through even a PWP if you're not having fun with it.

USA vs England

So I'm a novice to this soccer thing. I've watched a few matches in my life so I'm far from being proficient in this sport, but I do like to look at it. The World Cup has been going on for a few days now and I had yet to actually sit down and watch a game and it took a thunderstorm to finally get me to sit down and tune in. And just so happens what team is playing? USA! A match between USA and England......is it bad that I was secretly rooting for England? LOL.

I mean really, when you have countries that hold soccer (or football/futbol) in such a high regard, you kinda expect them to play better. The crowds are larger and more intense. You really can't beat crowds like that. I'm an avid watcher of Manchester United, Arsenal, and Barcelona. GROUPIE.

I must say I was quite proud of the US team though. They played VERY well. When I saw England score in the first 3 minutes and 40 seconds of the game, I thought, "Oh no. That's not a good look. You can't be losing 3 minutes into a game!"

But a swift kick from Clint Dempsey and a slip of hand by Rob Green brought the USA to a draw.

Goal keeper, Tim Howard, also "held it down". He played beautifully. I think the 3 minute-in goal for England and the swift kick to the chest, sparked something in him to step his game up. You go boy!

Bravo USA! I'm impressed!

Welcome to my blog, people! It's my first blog. I've always considered starting one many times before, but I felt like....well.....I don't have anything to write about! I mean, I sucked at diaries as a child so I figured this would be much the same. But time has brought about change so I decided to give it a go.

This blog will feature much of my day to day (or close to it) rants about whatever but it will also feature stories that I have authored--both updates and new postings.
