Riji and I accompanied some of the members of the new set of UPLB Street Jazz Dance Co.'s competing team in their first off-campus gig last Friday in San Sebastian College - Recoletos, Manila. The SSC-R Manila Center for Culture and the Arts, in cooperation with the San Sebastian Recollect Dance Troupe and the Sebastinian Arts Society put up SOIRÉE: An Evening of Music and Dance and we were fortunate to be invited as one of the guest performers in the event. Thank you so much, Sir Joey and Kuya Pong!

Curtain Call!

Only had the chance to watch the second half of the show and I have to give props for the performers for keeping the audience pumped up! Congratulations to all those who were involved with the production! We headed back to Elbi right after the show and all of 'em, well, except Jaspher, stayed in our house. Food trip plus fail Burlesque! Ha ha! And yes, all eleven of us stayed in my room!

I'm pretty sure some of my friends from the UPLB Street Jazz Dance Co. would get the title of this post. Can't really expound on it here. Ha ha. Got these glasses for PhP 50.00 a piece in a stall in Junction during a random afternoon with Dream Team. Been using them everyday since. You can't really rely on their UV protection thing but hey, what do you expect from rip-offs? Ha ha.

I'm saving up for something so I'm slowly becoming a cheap thrill seeker. Ain't nothin' wrong with that! Practicality and frugality is the key! Ha ha!

Clean Shave

Got surprised by the "performance" of this nifty little thing right here so I'm sharing this one out for the fellas. I've been using disposable razors for so long now and I always forget to get one that has replaceable blades. I got the chance to use this Gillette Blue 3 razor last week and I believe this is the best disposable razor I've used ever since my facial hair activity increased. Ha ha.

It has 3 blades to ensure the closest, smoothest shave in fewer strokes. The orange strip helps in preventing irritation for sensitive skin.

This one also has a pivoting head to adjust to the contours of your face.

It's made of plastic enclosed in rubber which provides good grip. Its overall look doesn't say "disposable", eh?

I'm definitely sticking to this one until I remember to get a reusable razor. A pack of two Gillette Blue 3 costs around PhP 93.00 and I'm pretty sure they're available in your local groceries and pharmacies.

Justice Must Be Served: Given Grace, Rochel and Ray

I've been vocal about the situation our community's been handling these past few days and most of the time, the things I've said have been brought about my surged up angst towards our city's lack of proper governance which undeniably contributed to the recent incidents. It was just earlier today that I felt weak and I truly felt sorry for what has been happening around. See, Ray Peñaranda, who was stabbed to his death on the wee hours of lat Sunday, is actually my classmate in one of my courses this semester. I also often see him with his orgmates whenever both our organizations come as sponsors to events. I remember him most because I saw him quite a few number of times hearing Mass in St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish. Same thing with Rochel Geronda, the high school student who was raped and murdered. I literally saw her grow up. She's one of the sampaguita kids who're always in Vega or in St. Therese and we've been buying sampaguita leis from her and her two other friends since we were just in high school. I may not know Given Grace Cebanicopersonally and I may not be as close to Ray and Rochel as the other people, but I feel really terrible and sorry for what had happened to them. Good kids whose lives were taken by men who for a moment forgot about goodness and love.

I can only pray for the victims' souls and for their families. I can only pray for those responsible for these crimes to man up and take full responsibility of what they had done. I can only pray for the safety of everyone. I can only pray that now, more than ever, we remember that love and goodness remain in our hearts. My heart goes out to the families and friends of the victims.

I've been living in Los Baños my whole life and I believe it's one of the safest and peaceful places that anyone can live in. The people are friendly and though there isn't a sense of tight security, you still get the feeling that nothing bad can ever happen to you here. Well, that was then. Gone are the days when anyone, especially UPLB students, can walk the streets without anything bad happening to them.

Given Grace and Rochelle were both rape-slay victims while Ray was stabbed in his chest after he was robbed.

Let us all take a moment to pray for the eternal repose of their souls. May they find peace in God's loving arms. Let us also pray for their families and friends. And in a very special way, let us pray for Los Baños; for its citizens, for its safety, for its governance.

The brods surprised the sisses with hotdogs on sticks and a serenade for Valentine's day. It wasn't well-planned but I think we did a pretty good job at making the sisses feel even more special that day. Ha ha! Performed for the Road Rage segment of that night's program in the Fair grounds.

Last day of the Fair! Spent the morning sleeping in Casa, went home around 3:00PM then went back to campus come night time. Spent time with Ma'am J.Lu and her son Uno and her granddaughter Freya along with some of the Clan's almni. Had dinner in Cubes (TRY THEIR SISIG!) then capped the night in Luna's HQ.

Pretty eventful, huh? Managed to get through the whole week while nursing a fever. Ha ha! Time to get serious with school stuff!

Went to UP Junior Executives' Society's REVERIE in IC's and danced the night away with some friends from UPLB Street Jazz Dance Co. and UP Entrepreneurs' Club. Congratulations, UPJES for the party! Left the party around 3:30AM and we decided to grab something to eat in Bugel's. "Unexpected" libre from me because I had no change left for jeepney fare! Ha ha!

January's leaving in a couple of days and I believe it's been a great month for the UPLB Street Jazz Dance Co. The Dream Team managed to deliver performances for 5 events in a span of two weeks and our Competing Team bagged the CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY last night in BODY WARS 2012! GANDINGAN was FUN! We really enjoyed the company of the other groups and we really enjoyed our performance! We're happy the entire auditorium liked it! Our collaboration with the UPLB Filipiniana Dance Troupe was very well-applauded! I'll post the video here as soon as it finishes uploading in YouTube.

The icing on yesterday's events is definitely our Competing Team bagging the CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY in San Beda Mendiola's BODYWARS 2012! Here's a video of their winning piece. I'll update this as soon as an official video from the organizers come out because this one's audio is quite screwed up.

It's been a long time since the group managed to grab top spot and we're definitely gonna work hard this year to improve more! This is only the beginning! Thank You, Lord for all the blessings! :)

Oh, and one more thing. It feels really good that my mum got to watch me perform again. Been a long time! Ha ha!

I can't really brag about my family's 1/8 Chinese blood but we do celebrate the Lunar New Year every year. Being a devout Catholic family, we don't really believe in lucky charms and what-nots but we still find time to celebrate come this time of the year. I guess we just need another reason to spend a day together. Ha ha. We decided to eat lunch outside today and mum brought us to Hap Chan Tea House in Calamba. My family and friends know that Hap Chan is my second favorite restaurant, first being Dusit Thani, located in Makati. Can't really complain about anything so I'll leave you guys with photos I took earlier.

A fun-filled Saturday after a semi-stressful week. Attended the BLD Youth Ministry's weekly worship service and got my spirit recharged! So much to be thankful for! Went out with some friends and checked out Chubby Habbi's new chairs which are so comfy! Makes dining in Chubby Habbi's more enjoyable! The Chubby Habbi's x Moonleaf Tea Shop "combo" is beginning to be a weekly thing for us. Not complaining, though :)

Been a long time! Got caught up with a lot of school work plus training this past week so I didn't get any chance to post something in here. I ordered a camera strap from Punchdrunk Panda last Thursday and it was delivered to my house just this last Tuesday. I've been eyeing this specific camera strap design ever since they launched this series and I honestly do not know what made me wait so long just to get it.

People who know me and my family know that we are not really big fans of the ~~boob tube~~ TV. We do have four TV sets in our house but they were never bigger than the now minute 21" because we never saw the TV as a gooooood investment. After all, it is still just a TV. Blame it on our penchant for reading books, playing board games and going out. Add to that the fact that almost all of us have laptops already, and we all know that almost everything shown on the TV nowadays is available on the internet, right? No commercials, too, so that's a tad better. I think. So anyway, imagine my surprise yesterday morning when I got a text from my mum saying that they're in SM City Calamba buying a new TV. I wasn't expecting that but then again, my mum has been working at home since last year and I guess she wants to build a stronger relationship with the TV. And so she got this:

Dito ko napagtanto na pwede ko pala 'tong gamiting title sa mga posts na ang tanging laman ay ang mga recent na pangyayari sa paligid ko. Yung mga tipong alam kong wala naman talagang gustong magbasa pero dahil bored ako, o di kaya'y nagpapahinga mula sa pag-aaral, ay ~~isusulat~~ ita-type ko; at dahil bored ka rin ay babasahin mo naman.

Eto, wala lang. Sobrang wala pa sa mood bumalik sa school dahil ang lakas maka hang-over ng Christmas vacation. Pero, ang weird kasi simula kanina ay nag-aaral na 'ko para sa exam ko na two weeks from now pa naman. Kahit ako eh nagulat sa sarili ko eh. Madalas kasi ay maswerte na na one week before ng exam kapag sinipag ako na magsimulang mag-aral. Nagsimula 'to kaninang madaling araw, habang nanunuod ako ng Modern Family Season 1. Pagkasalang (parang VHS lang) ko ng unang episode eh sinabayan ko ng pagre-rewrite ng notes. Pagkatapos ng sampung episodes, tinapos ko ang pagrere-write sa kadahilanang dalawang pahina na lang naman ang natitira. Natulog, gumising, pumasok kanina, dumaan sa bangko*, inabot ng "rush hour sa lunch" kaya na stuck sa daan. Sa kasamaang palad ay naiwan ko ang earphones 'ko kaya hindi ako makapagpatugtog. Ayoko namang gawing feeling boombox 'tong cellphone ko. Malaman pa nilang puro pa rin The Script, The Fray, Adele at Parachute ang pinapakinggan ko kahit na bagong taon na at kahit masaya na ako. Dahil wala ngang magawa eh inilabas ko ang kwaderno (notebook in English, notes in normal language) ko at nagsimulang mag-aral. Hanggang sa maka-uwi dito sa bahay at hanggang sa matapos kong basahahin ang mga nakasulat dito. Natatawa pa rin ako hanggang ngayon dahil ang OA naman ng pagre-review ko. Pero sa totoo lang, sana matuloy-tuloy ko 'tong ganito. Masarap 'yung feeling na hindi ko naaksaya 'yung oras 'ko at feeling ko eh mas masarap 'yung feeling nito kapag malapit na 'yung exam pero hindi ako magca-cram. Ngayon pa lang eh excited na 'ko mag-exam eh. Ha ha. Sana freshman pa lang ako eh ganito na 'ko, eh di sana, ang yaman ko na ngayon. Ha ha. Ayan, medyo kailangan ko namang magbantay sa tindahan. Hanggang sa susunod na "Hey, what's up?" na lang!

*Dumaan ako sa bangko kanina para magdeposit ng bayad ko sa Punchdrunk Panda. Finally, naka-order din ako ng camera strap na gusto ko. 2011's ending in a few and I can't help but express my gratitude to God for an amazing year. Like, seriously, 2011 has got to be one of, if not, the best year of my life. I've received so much blessings and got through a lot of trying times. I'm really just thankful to God and to my family and to all my friends for being with me this past year. Let's welcome 2012 and claim that it'll be sooo much better than 2012!

For the past years, my New Year's resolutions' list has always been filled up with only two statements.

This year, I'll be better.

This year, I'll take risks.

I believe I need not add more. Heck, even just those two are hard already since they're kinda general. Ha ha. Anyway, I'm really excited for 2012. I just know that it's gonna be great, what, with me graduating this coming October headlining the events. Ha ha! So, keeping true to the "This year, I'll take risks" statement, I leave you all with a video of me doing one thing that I know I don't have a bright future in. Yes, doing a rap. Whut.

Wednesday In Town.

Met up with Yron, Sab, Mino, Abie and Michiko yesterday in Alabang Town Center to watch Segunda Mano and catch up with stories as if we don't flood Twitter every night. Ha ha. The movie was good! Go see it! You have about more than a week to catch all the films under the Metro Manila Film Festival, so go ahead and watch a couple or all of 'em. Ha ha!

The ever-generous Sab treated us lunch in Shakey's while waiting for Michiko and for the screening time. It's always nice to get tickets in advanced (online or just go there early) so as to avoid the hassle of long lines come screening time. We went to Timezone right after watching the movie and spent a good hour (or more) hoarding two videoke booths and we also played in the arcade. Parang mga batang nakawala na naman kami. Ha ha!

Merry Christmas! I intended to do a Christmas post much earlier today but I was running around with some of the cousins who dropped by our house. So, how did you spend Christmas eve and Christmas day? Here are some photos of what me and my family did.

We spent a good hour during Noche Buena then headed upstairs to have tea and exchange stories; a first for our family. Ha ha! Went to bed right after because we had to wake up to hear the 9:00AM Eucharistic Celebration in St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish in UPLB.

I guess one of the best things about Christmas is that I get to hear Mass with my family. See, my mum and aunts don't really attend Mass every Sunday and RJ goes to Mass with his girlfriend so I usually hear Mass with friends from the BLD Youth Ministry. The Christmas Family Mass is actually one of the things that I always look forward to whenever Christmas season comes.

Went home right after the Mass and spent time just chillin' and waiting for relatives to drop by. Mum and Mama thought of this neat idea of giving out "Papasko" to some of our younger relatives. They clipped on different denominations in a rack and each person gets to pick out a piece of paper with a number on it from a fish bowl. The number on the paper corresponds to the piece of plastic which contains PhP 40.00 - PhP 1,000.00! Ang saya lang kasi thrilling and excited kaming lahat. Ha ha!

Yes, I did join and I got PhP 50.00! Ha ha! Mum imposed this isang bunot kada tao lang so ayun. Ha ha! My ten year old cousin Buchoi got the PhP 1,000.00! Swerte! The rest of the day was spent running around with hyper active kids and some videoke. Definitely a tiring but fun day!
