I was caught...I mean trapped in the middle of a high speed police chase. I was driving down I-35 south bound. I noticed that highway had blocked off, and traffic was forced to get on the feeder road. I had no idea whats was going on, but after about 1,000 yards or more of driving on the feeder road. I gained access back on to the Interstate. No sooner than about 5 mins of getting back o the Interstate. I noticed I'm the only one on the road. This was very odd, and quite scary. To be honest I thought I feel asleep, or died, or worse the world ended and I was left behind. I look in my rear-view mirror, and that is when I saw it. A older model blue chevrolet pickup speeding up behind me. Then I notice a squad car off the shoulder in fornt of me immediate to my left. The officer was crouching behind his vehicle. My heart starting racing. I didn't know what was going on. Then "BOOM" it happened. The officer jumped out from behind his vehicle to throw down spikes. Sad to say his aiming was terrible. Instead of hitting the pick-up truck he struck my tow truck with the spikes. Took out my left rear doolie tires. On the Sluaghter Creek overpass. I stopped dead center in the middle of the highway. I must say I was in a panic. I thought for a second I did something wrong. All in all no one was hurt the perp was caught further down the highway, and city will more than likely pay for the tires and the tow back to yard. It was funny watching my baby being towed home...lol

It's a Wonderful day (NOT!!!)

June 26, 2009
1:40 p.m.

Like all days that begin with checking your truck, and fighting for fuel money. Yes fighting for fuel money!! I'll get into that on a later post. How could I know what was in store for me today. I would have never guessed I would end up saving a life today. It started with a routine APD (Austin Police Department) service call. I was dispatched to a three call pile up. Once I arrived on the scene. I was directed to the blue Chevrolet S-10. Which had driven through a guardrail, and was see-sawed on the edge. At this point I figured it's an easy winch job. I proceeded to hook my winch cables to vehicle, when all of a sudden the owner decided the most important thing to her at that point was to get her purse out of the vehicle. She made a 100 yard sprint to her truck and jumped inside to find her purse. Sad to say I'm pretty sure once she got inside she realized what a big mistake that was. Her truck with her inside starting to grind and moan it's way down over the edge. At this time I had not finished prepping the vehicle for recovery. I had one cable on the truck. Without a moments hesitation, I made a B-line for the rear of my truck. Dropped my stinger, nearly lifting the rear of my truck off the ground. Thats when I heard the "SNAP!" My cable caught just in time, and having the stinger planted on the ground acted as an additional emergency brake. With my heart racing at 100mph, I went to look over the edge only to see the woman planted up against the windshield of her vehicle, crying, screaming, and begging to be saved. I quickly snapped back to reality(Thanks to the EMT's on the scene, yelling for me to pull the truck up) , and proceeded to pull the woman, and her truck to safety. Once pulled to safety, the woman ran to me threw her arms around me nearly choking me to death. I must say I didn't care about nearly being strangled to death as much as I was relieved that she didn't lose he life.

All in all it was a wonderful day (NOT!!)
