I have a problem with Mr Greg Madl from Swanhouse Miniatures...AGAIN.

Here are the plain and simple facts, we have all documents to back them up.

Between June 2005 and January 2006, Mr Madl purchased a few items from us through Ebay. We didn't know who he was. He offered to retail our work. We declined as we prefer to look after it ourselves.
Soon after, we were informed by a head writer for numerous important miniatures magazines that Mr Madl was selling our work on his site under the generic name "French Banquet" knowing full well that this was against our will.
We asked Mr Madl to stop this immediately. He replied that he would. However this took several months.
We met Mr Madl at the 2007 SIMP miniatures show in Paris. Mr Madl came to see us, apologised for his 'misunderstanding' (his words) and shook our hands saying that it wouldn't happen again.
A few months passed. A new buyer on Ebay using the name "snookiewon" won a batch of our items. Using a simple address check (which revealed that the contact details provided to Ebay by the seller were false), we discovered that this was Mr Madl who was using the name "George Model". This was confirmed when "George Model" replied to us denying our claim, signing his email....Greg! We said we'd prefer to keep the items and leave it there.
The items were relisted and many of them were purchased by someone using the Ebay ID "miniaturemaker". This was in July 2008.
Yesterday, alerted by a friend, I discovered these very items (from 2005 and July 2008) are currently for sale on Mr Madl's website.
I would have most certainly approached Mr Madl to settle this, but not only does he continue to not respect my choice as an artisan, he doesn't respect the miniatures themselves and I want people to know about it:

HE IS TRYING TO SELL MY MINIATURES BROKEN!
Here are the pictures of my work that Mr Madl currently has on his site. Remember this is someone claiming to "represent" miniature artisans from around the world.

To be clear - there is no way whatsoever that you should buy our miniatures through anybody other than us - Emma and Neil. Any other method exposes you to second hand items, possibly damaged and likely overpriced.

Thank you for reading this. Please be careful with your purchases and don't hesitate to leave your opinion (which can be anonymous!) and let's hope this sorry affair with Mr Madl is over.

Comme c'est le dernier SIMP, 😢, nous avons décidé de vous faire profiter de plein choses intéressantes ....eh oui, vous pourrez trouver sur notre stand un ENORME choix de papiers peints, ainsi que des plinthes et des baguettes, et plein de bricoles diverses :)))

...et bien sûr, les mixers, les marmites, les pinceaux etc....

Evidemment, il y aura une petite gamme de pâtisseries individuelles toutes neuves, et de gâteaux, amoureusement confectionnés pour vous, mais les quantités sont très limitées....vous savez pourquoi...LES CHATONS!!! (Lire plus sur Facebook)

Ah oui, et à la demande générale, je vous ai préparé BEAUCOUP de petites assortiments de biscuits glacés, décorés, des sucettes, chocolats de Pâques, plus craquant les uns que les autres, dans de jolis petits sachets, non collés, que vous pourrez disposer comme vous le souhaitez😇😇😇

Il y en a beaucoup, mais ça part vite, et ils sont presque tous différents....

As tomorrow is the last SIMP miniatures show😢, we’re going all out to bring you lots of interesting things we’ve not had before! On our stand you’ll find a HUGE selection of miniature wallpaper (in 12th and 24th scale!) as well as loads of wooden mouldings and trims (skirting boards, handrails, dado railing) and many other bits and pieces. All new!

…and of course we’ll have the usual selection of mixers, pots, fine paintbrushes (the very ones I use!)

Obviously there will be some brand new types of individual pastries, miniature cakes, lovingly handmade for you, but the quantities are very limited….you probably know why….THE KITTENS!!! (Read more about them on Facebook)

And because many people have asked for them, I will have LOTS (and I mean LOTS!) of beautiful little sachets of cookies of all types - frosted, decorated, plain, round, square. And lots of Easter stuff! And because they are all loose, you can use them to fill your own plates and displays 😇😇😇. And each selection is pretty much unique!

There are lots, but they go very quickly, so make sure you come and see us early in the morning!

Okay, time to go put the finishing touches on the last pieces!

We're excited to present this year's "Pink Collection" which is now available in our Etsy store.

As you may know, each September we create a special pink-themed collection of miniatures. It's our small way of saying goodbye to summer before moving on to the oranges, yellows and browns of fall (yes, autumn-lovers, we've already started!).

Over the past few weeks, we've created 70 brand new beautiful pieces with a gorgeous pink theme which we hope you'll love.

What if you don't like pink? Well, this isn't the collection you're looking for...! We'll be back with autumn/halloween miniatures in October :)

Back to School / Work

September is here and that means the end of the long summer holiday. Eight weeks of school holiday seemed like an eternity at the start of July!

Thankfully the weather is still warm and sunny which means the new school runs are a welcome moment to down tools and expose oneself to the late summer / early autumn sun.

The blog has been quiet over the summer. We've been on holiday to the UK (Marks & Spencers - yay!), had a summer Christmas (complete with Santa!), celebrated our sons 5th birthday (where did those FIVE YEARS GO?!) and even made a few miniatures, including this chocolate floral cake listed in our Etsy store earlier this week...

So what's next?

Well, we're working on our annual Pink Collection which will be launched later in September, after that we'll be concentrating on Halloween/fall miniatures followed by Christmas miniatures.

There will be other pieces between those major collections, but that should take us nicely to the end of the year. Let us know in the comments of there's anything you'd like to see in any of those collections.

One other exciting piece of news - we're soon about to be published in American Miniaturist! Keep your eyes out for the Fall issue 162... More about that soon :)
