Whilst it can be easy to hide away at your work computer during the miserable winter months, the summer weather makes an airless office almost unbearable. Luckily there are some simple work-life tweaks that will help to brighten up your world during the warm season.

Liven up your working day

Take advantage of the lovely weather and walk to work (or walk some of the way if you live far away). Make yourself a summertime playlist for your MP3 player to really get the most out of a lunchtime break from the desk. Remember that 5pm is not the end of the day. Research has shown that attending an after-work get together boosts social skills and also gives you a chance to schmooze your way towards a promotion (or office romance!) The incentive of getting out of the office in time for after-work drinks should make you more productive during the day, rather than complacently leaving everything until the last minute (we all do it).

Dress Up

Dress for summer! Yellow is a feel-good shade that exudes summer style and conveniently happens to be bang on trend this year. If your work dress code is flexible enough, bring the summer indoors with a cute sundress and sandals. Maxi dresses can be suitable for work if dressed down with flats, whilst topping up your fake bake will help you to achieve a healthy summer glow. Give yourself a tropical-coloured pedicure to get even further into the summer spirit.

Hey guys!
Yes i haven't blogged in a while.
Yes i suck.
And
Yes i hate myself for the fact that there is no reasonable excuse.
Oh yea, still searching for Accounting Internships, wish me luck!

Today (last week-ish), the weather was super awesome. It was warm enough to wear a tank top and cool enough to wear boots and that's exactly what i did.
I brought out the moccasins i bought off of Ebay from some company in China and of course they didn't look as awesome as they did in the picture but they were quiet manageable.
Here's a tip: always check what the weather will be like before you go out. Just saying, if there's some chance of rain, even if its 30%, do not wear your moccasins. If you do, stick them in the dryer as soon as you get home.
Oh and this is way off point but...............errrrrr, never mind it has to do with guys.

Moccasins are perfect for that boho chic style you've always wanted to try.
They can be paired with skirts, dresses ( long or short), jeans or short-shorts.
Denim + Moccasins = Perfect.
Try on anything you like, you'll find out that moccasins tend to wrap up your outfits.
Can be worn in the summer or fall.

Pastel Trend : Mint Green.

It'll be hard to get over the beauty of the mint green trend. It's just so adorable.
Personally, i believe this is a "trend" soon to be gone in a year or so. It would definitely not be a wardrobe staple as leggings have become, as this color is really difficult to style.
It is however the perfect color to transition with from winter to spring. It's refreshing and calming, and can even be seen as a neutral color but "updated".

Important tips for wearing mint green

Please do me the hugest favor of wearing only ONE (Main) Mint green item in your outfit.
Yellow: Nothing fits perfectly with Mint Green but this color.
Cream, Beige, Nude: I have always imagined a perfect outfit with involves a lovely pleated Mint Green skirt and a collared button down silky beige/cream blouse.
Blue: Lighter (almost pastel) shades of blue tend to work nice with Mint Green. Be careful not to draw attention away from the main color.
Brown: As you may have noticed, brown works along the lines of beige, yellow, cream, and nude.
Jewelry:For jewelry, I would suggest gold-gold-gold.

Black.
As much as black is the most versatile color on earth, i would suggest you stay away from this color when wearing mint green. For me, black tends to drown mint green and makes the color look way too dull. If you feel the need to use black in your outfit, try limiting the color to one item only. I have noticed that sheer black items tend to work. A sheer black blouse or sheer black tights might look amazing if styled properly.
If your mint green top/bottom/dress is mixed with black, you can definitely rock black all you want.

Here is my outfit picture showing loads of black with gold as opposed to mint green. I would say you can go overboard with black if your item is mixed with black.

The Illusion of Height: How to wear Flared/Bell Bottomed Jeans.

I stopped blogging for a while because i wanted to focus on more pressing issues but today i got dressed, i liked what i wore, i went to the kitchen and for a moment there i just knew i had to take an outfit picture. It was too tempting not to. I love blogging and taking pictures and sharing fashion tips and ideas with other bloggers. This may make me or break me or even ruin me but for now, i love it and im happy doing it so i won't stop.

In the photo above, i'm wearing wide-legged jeans. The wide leg pants trend actually started in the 70s and would of course make a comeback every 5 years or so but never really stuck out like the skinny jeans.

The belief is that it doesn’t look nice on some people and does on others.

I would however like to say that wide legs pants do a great job of giving the illusion of height. Especially for short women, these style of jeans are great for petite women when paired with heels.

Wide leg pants are best worn with tops tucked in or fitted short tops so as to show that you have a waist and aren't just drowning in some baggy pants.
For shoes, I would suggest round closed toed wedges or heels and taller girls who don’t need the extra length could try round toe/opened toe flats.
Try your possible best to wear a structured jacket or blazer and a fitted blouse or top. Anything baggy on top tends to make you look unkempt.
Make sure the tip of your shoes can be seen, that way it won’t seem like you have no legs.

I do know that wide legged pants do a great job of accentuating your butt and you would definitely look amazing in them. Here's a collage for further understanding.

If you have been thinking about trying the trend, i urge you to please do so, if you would never try the trend, have second thoughts. Lol

Hey everyone!
Hope you had a splendid Christmas and a happy New Year.
This year wasn't the best for me, it was actually the worst but i'll strive to make 2012 the best i have ever had.
As the New Year rolled in, i had thoughts about closing my blog and taking a break for a year but i came here and looked at what i had created and how much my style has improved as a result of blogging.
I love blogging and i hope to inspire others' style decisions through my outfits.
What i would like for the blog.

A nice Camera.
A nice background.

I am definitely unable to get those at the moment but hopefully my wishes come true.
Those are my only resolutions but my family has counted about a million of which they want for me. Lol.
This means i'll continue blogging to increase my writing, photography, and style skills.

Messed up week.

I haven't posted any outfit in about 2 weeks and there are about 2 to100 valid excuses. Here are my top 3.

Winter Break: I am a full time student and i don't work. Now that i am done with finals and i have nowhere to go, (except the occasional hanging out with friends which involves me running out of the house half ready) there hasn't been any content for the blog.
Time: When i do go out with friends or family (about 4-5 times in the past 3 weeks), its usually a spur of the moment thing and there isn't any time allocated to taking pictures.
Inspiration: The winter weather here is horrible (35F and below) and its really hard to wear anything but my thigh high boots or Ugg boots.

With these, i hope i am not taken as someone who isn't serious about blogging and just chooses to do whatever she likes.

You have no idea how much i want to ramble right now.
Lucky you, i won't be doing that now. I have to get back to studying for both my Economics and Statistics finals annnnnnnd Job Searches.

Quick Note: I have been wearing a lot of (what i would call) "Nice Outfits" and i took pictures but they weren't clear so i was unable to upload them. I finally found out, after taking these ones, that my camera settings had at some point been tampered with. Nothing is going the way i want it to.

Like, absolutely nothing.

I have so much troubling me, about 5 major life problems that i am having no luck fixing. Don't worry, I'm a strong person and i'll keep hanging there.

So here's the deal: When i decided to start an online store, my mom had a lot of influence on it, i picked items that she thought were awesome, they were items i would wear but my mom had major influence. I found out that i didn't pick items that you guys liked or thought were trendy, i chose items that were "just there".

Yeah, that's the word. I'm about to change that. This time i around, i have hand selected awesome items that you guys would love!

October 27, 2010: I created my Bucket List (things you want to do before you die).
My Bucket List will be a year old on October 27 and i am proud to say some of them have been crossed out (the ones that require little to no money, lol).
Some things were added out of ignorance for the particular issue/subject.
Of course they will be changed this year.
I'll be sharing a few of the items on it with you guys.

Live in New York for 2 or more weeks: Because NY is a fun place and note to self: don't live with family members in NY. I wanna see the fashion, people, event, shops.
Visit China and Japan: I love the culture and the language that i know not to speak.Visit Egypt: I really want to see the great pyramid.
Visit Milan: fashion, what else?
Visit Paris: romance, love, passion, fashion. Oh, the stuff i love.
Teach in a country: Its sounds fun! and its all over craigslist!
Give my blog a 'real" domain: because blogspot is just so bloggy

Indigo Rein + Giveaway

I have never thought Jeans/Denim Pants worked for me. Ever.
I have always thought them to be tight in all the wrong places. Maybe that is because all i have tried on are Skinny Jeans.
About 3 or 4 times, have i bought denim to try on and liked. Recently, i haven’t worn any of these because i have been mostly interested in shorts and skirts.
Coincidentally, i have bought the same brand of denim pants 3 times.
I honestly never ever look at the brand name or designer, i look at the style and whether it fits whatever image i have conducted in my mind.
I don’t know how its possible for a person to buy the same brand 3-4 times when it comes to jeans w/o knowing, but i am a living testimony.
This Brand is Indigo Rein. I have bought their Short-Shorts, One Gray denim Jeans with side Zippers and One Gray and Black Jeans.

Why did i buy these Jeans which unknowingly to me were Indigo Rein?

Length: The Jeans aren’t too long for my body type. They bunch a little bit at the feet but i am only 4"11", i don’t think anyone makes Jeans for my height.
Style: Its really stylish. Very different from what you will see other people wearing.Uniqueness is the word.
Comfort: These Jeans are true to size and have never made me feel uncomfortable or caused muffin top. I didn’t have to pull them up every time i sat and stood up. That says a lot.

The folks at Indigo Rein saw some pictures of me rocking their Jeans and were super nice enough to send me 2 skinny jeans, 1 flared jeans and one mini skirt to try on and keep. Indigo Rein completely changed my very judgmental view on Jeans and how they should be rocked and i am proud to say that all Fall and Winter long, you’ll be seeing many pictures of me in Jeans.

My 2 favorites from the 4 they sent me. I couldn't wait to wear my jeans so i did, the next day. Haha
Sorry i was in a rush so i couldn't take perfect outfit pictures.

When i get something, i try to give some of it so others can share in my joy.

A Few Questions.

My initial thoughts were to throw in a quote for the post, ( and i have lots of them ) but i thought i'll do something else since a lot of us are bloggers and it's something we can pass on to each other.
Highlight of my day: Check out the picture below, that skirt almost got me into trouble today. The wind was playing a very naughty game with my skirt today and i wasn't impressed.
I was walking to class and all of a sudden, the wind got really strong and dangerously threatened to blow my skirt up. It was scary and definitely almost a Marilyn Monroe moment. This is downtown of a very busy city with so many people around. Glad nothing crazy happened. Whew!

Fortunately, i never really regret anything i have done.
I tend to try to make wise choices when it comes to doing life changing things. I don't go crazy and move out of the house and later decide that wasn't the best option-stuff like that.
I do lots and lots of research and planning and i'm glad i have that in me.

One thing that makes me very uncomfortable is that we try so hard to meet other people's expectations.

Throughout last week i was in Florida, getting ready for my cousin's wedding and helping her a bit and this got me thinking about the person i might get married to.
I love my parents a lot and i'm sure a lot of you feel the same about your parents. They are respectable, annoyingly strict and very helpful. I know that marrying someone who isn't Nigerian would make them unhappy. Why?
I asked my mom this question a while ago and she said it's because the person's background and culture will be different from mine and also because my spouse may not allow me take the kids to Nigeria to visit (which i think is very irrelevant).
For the past 3 years, all i have done is crush on guys who aren't Nigerian. They aren't even black.

I keep thinking about my life and whether i may end up with someone my parent's want or someone they absolutely disapprove of.
I came to the conclusion that it is my life to live and not theirs.
I won't go out of my way to meet someone they like and if i for some reason end up liking the type of guy they want, Fine.
I'm the one who should be happy, I'll be getting married in years to come, and for myself, not for them. Its my life, I'll work for myself and have my own kids if i even want any kids.

It's my Life, the same way it is Yours: You deserve to be happy, you deserve to get what you want, you deserve to know what you want. This may be difficult because of what friends, family, and society might say but if you end up doing what everyone expects and nothing for yourself, you won't be living your life. You'll be living their life and most of the time, you'll find out that everyone thinks about themselves first before thinking about you. What everyone wants is for themselves, that's their motive. Your parents want you to go to school because it'll be good for you, BUT it will not only be good for you, it'll be good for THEM and for what they'll tell their friends and your cousins and your family members. Who doesn't want to say "Oh my Daughter is a Doctor"?
My folks think a lot about what others might say about them and i think its wrong but it's a part of the culture i come from and THAT has driven most of their decisions. It's wrong and i encourage everyone to be the opposite of this. Don't harm other people by your actions but please do what makes you happy.

All I'm trying to say with this is that you have to live your life, don't do things that will hurt anyone but do things that'll make you happy.
Our motives are for us alone and we want things that'll benefit us and make us look good. Its the same way for our parents. We should respect them but try to reason with them and if they want our happiness, they'll reason with us and support us and tell us why they don't want us to do certain things so that we may understand and rethink our actions and decisions.
Live Your Life but do it Wisely.

It started June 21 and we are already 2 months in.

I just love it when people transfer their words (of wisdom?) to us and its put down on pen and paper (or the internet).

Not because Anna Dello Russo is popular but because i honestly believe that you should put passion into what you wear which says a lot about you.
I understand that the inside matters a great deal but so does the outside. The part you are showing off to people who will do nothing but judge you.
Its impossible for me to believe that your perception of a person is based on what they say or what is in their head.
When you see someone for the first time, the first thing you tend to notice is the way they come across to you. This includes the way they are dressed and the kind of word/accent that comes out of their mouth and their body language.
You know a confident person the first time you see one: What they wear, tone of their voice, body language and the things you tend to notice at first.
I think that most fashion-conscious people are confident. They tend to stand out from the crowd and their outfits are just different and amazing.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
I know that first impression always counts and i believe in it, but i need your counter-arguments. Do you disagree that first-impression counts? Do you not judge a person based on what they look like the first time you see them? I know that later when you get to know the person, your opinions might change but that very first time they approach you or vice versa, don't you jump to conclusions?
Is it that something is wrong with me and i need help?
It bothers me a lot when people say that they don't judge a person based on what they look like but what comes out of their mouth.
What if that person doesn't say a word? Do you still judge them by their words?
You know what a professional looks like based on what he/she is has on, You know what a doctor looks like based on his coat, do you still wait to hear what he says before knowing he's a doctor?

You know what amazes me sometimes? That we are able to remember the different passwords for all the online accounts we have created. All the emails, the accounts on chictopia, facebook, lookbook, school accounts, etc.
We can remember all of them.
That, is pretty amazing.

I didn't want to upload this outfit but i have not taken any new outfit pictures so here you go.

To be honest, this outfit is not on my top 10 list. I will like to recreate it some other time with a different top.

Hi Cute girls!! (and the guys? who drop by sometimes).
This is a really special post.
I finally launched Shop.District of Fashion.
Initially, i was going to create a website for district of fashion but its a lot of work and i go to school and work at the moment so creating a website is more work for me.
I found an alternative, Ebay.
The items would be posted on Ebay and everyone who goes to the "SHOP" tab above will have access to them.
District of Fashion Store is the dream of a 13 year old girl and her BFF. Its something i have always wanted.
I'm currently 19 years old and i know i'm ready to start this store, if i fail, i'll get back up and try again.

The Process: While i'm purchasing the items, i'm thinking of you guys, what your styles are, what people my age might like and i know a lot of us are students so i'm also thinking, it has to be affordable.
I would never sell anything i wouldn't wear.
That's the rule and i plan on sticking to it.
