An amazing and very loving father built his son, Carter, a Halloween costume that looks like an ice cream art truck. His son Carter has Spina bifida and has to use a wheel chair to get around. This amazing DIY art car costume gives him the freedom to participate in this years Halloween with the other kids on the block. This little guy has it all down all dressed in a crisp white uniform and ready to serve "Buster's Ice Cream". His Wheel Chair art car is complete with an entire list of ice scream choices and if you watch the video it even has the right ice scream truck music. This colorful knitted art car named "Sonja" has received much attention driving around the roads Oppdal Norway. A Simca Talbot 1982 model, has in fact been covered from head lamp to tailpipe in woolen garments, nice and cozy in preparation for the cold winter nights.

A couple of years ago Sonja Shoes Heim, Brit Elin Rønning and Mary covered a bike with colorful knitted work that has so far withstood the Norwegian weather. They took up the knitted art car project this year in response to questions about taking up a larger project. After finding a suitable coupe they went at it and were able to completed the project within several months and results were fantastic.

I love the details especially the hand crafted air freshener tree hanging from the rear view mirror, the knitted license plate the cute flowers on the windshield wipers. Nice work lady's, we are very proud to have you here on art car central.

The Immaculate M.E.rcedes Art Car by Martin Reese

Martin Reese is a 28-year-old artist based in Daytona Beach Miami and heavy duty sports fans who turned this 1983 Mercedes-Benz into a mobile mural for the Miami Heat in just a few days. He is also the artist who painted the same car for Steelers fans in time for the super bowl last year.

Despite the fact that he did not have tickets to the game it did not stop Martin from driving his Immaculate Mercedes art car 300 miles down to Miami to be with fans in time for the big game.

He wanted to show off his favorite player LeBron [James] and create a work of art that really expressed the passion for the game that he, [Dwyane] Wade, and [Chris] Bosh show while also representing the city’s atmosphere.

The whole process took about 100 hours, began Wednesday [June 13] and finished the following Monday. He really wanted to have the car done by Game 3 so some of the painting session took as long as 24 hours. There is nothing like a little "heat" to get the job done in time.

Reese has many works of art displayed on his web site, including many tributes to famous artist and athletes. He also has a large collection of painted paddles in case you have aesthetic or disciplinary needs in the near future.

I got an art car submission today from Patryk Chwastek creator of fabric puppets who decided attack his car with fabric and convert into a place for his fabric puppets to hang out. As you can see by the pictures he has managed to transform his car into the whimsical land of fabric puppets.

Now he wants raise money with an indigogo campaign to create a bigger mobile puppet art car with the idea that he will travel Europe doing workshops and making puppets. Art Car Central wishes you the best of luck.

Cadillac Ranch - Famous Buried Art Cars

As a tribute to America's best automobile, a collective of artists called Ant Farm decided to place 10 Cadillacs, ranging from a 1949 Club Coupe to a 1963 Sedan, in a wheat field located west of Amarillo, Texas. Mr. Stanley Marsh 3, a local helium tycoon, provided some place for the cars to rest. Ten big holes were dug and the cars were driven with their front end into them. Thus the Cadillac Ranch was born becoming the worlds most famous art cars, and as you can see they have undergone many paint jobs since their creation in 1974. Full story here.

The Worlds Biggest Dump Truck Art Car is brought to by airbrush artist Konstantin Eremenko over in Novosibirsk, Russia from his blog called Total Positive .

Worlds Largest Airbrushed Dump Truck From Russia -Via Total Positive

We have some big art projects such as Garbage Art Trucks, Art Tanks, Semi Trucks and recently a Pink Freight Ship but never a big-o-dump truck that was airbrushed somewhere in Russia. So the story goes something like this:

Somewhere in Russia there is snow covered factory that's either abandoned or its the weekend. A bald dude with an airbrush is photographed air brushing the side of a Dump Truck. With then see a close up shot of the work in progress and then "Presto!!!", a giant art Dump Truck emerges out of a side door and ready for a dump run. Love it it!!! I think we will be seeing more of Konstantine airbrush work here on Art Car Central.

Spooky Art Car Scares Customers at Raven's Grin Inn - Jim Warfield

There aren't many Haunted Inns that come complete with spooky art cars parked in the front but owner and resident Jim Warfield has done his best to give his clients the complete package.

In the town of Mount Carroll, Ill is where you will find Raven's Grin Inn, a 19th-century mansion that's been turned into a wacky house of horrors by Jim Warfield which just happens to be located a block away from a cemetery.

Warfield rescued the house from being demolished about 20 years ago and then went on to fill it
with all kinds of freaky art projects like the "the last Elvis impersonator" that sits decaying in a wheelchair and of course plenty of creaky, spooky and secret passages. If you are feeling up to it you can get a group of 10 and go on a tour for $10 per person per hour but you must call in advance for reservations.

What got Jim a post here on art car central was one three spooky cars, a 87 Olds station Art Car wagon, "Custom cruiser" with arms that go up and down via a 79 T-Bird Vacuum /headlight door lifter device and a reptile hood with doll trapped in its bloody teeth. I think traveling cross country in one of these with the whole family is scary enough even without the skulls, but that's just me.

It took Jim about 5 years to rebuild his spooky art car to the point were felt comfortable taking it down to the local drag strip that allows anyone to race any car for $10. If speed doesn't kill then definitely a spooky induced heart attack would be enough to beat the competition. Go get em Jim:)

The Serpent Twins Jormungand and Julunggul are the latest creations from Jon Sarriugarte and Kyrsten Mate, who also created the Golden Mean snail car and adorable zippy Electrobyte trilobite car.

Mike Mullen's Psychedelic 1961 Citroen Mystery Art Car

Mullen, 55, is a court officer in Detroit, Mich., who evicts people whose homes are in foreclosure, became an over night art car owner when he came upon this Psychedelic 1961 Citroën Mystery painted art car parked in a garage. On a typical day inspecting homes he opened up the garage of a house and found a 1961 Citroën parked beside five other European sports cars: an Austin-Healey, a Jensen-Healey, two Saab Sonetts, a Triumph TR8 and the eye-popping Citroën.

It turns out that the artists, possibly university students or teachers, transformed 61 Citreon from ordinary to OMG in Minneapolis about 40 years ago. Mullen, who now owns the art car, is set on finding out who created this amazing art car and thank them personally. By posting his story on art car central we hope to reach out and find those responsible for this amazing work of art.

Womble Truck - Bio Diesel Frankenstein Art Car - Lives on French Fry Oil

The Womble Truck is a bio diesel Frankenstein art car that lives on french fry oil and may very well be one of Britain's most environmentally friendly cars. It was pieced together in a lab from 21 different cars but is capable of reaching speeds up to 80mph...eventually.

The vehicle was cobbled together from an array of car parts including some from a Sixties Morris 1000, Seventies Mini, a Ford, a Reliant Robin, an MG Midget, a Vauxhall Viva and a Volvo 740. This Frankenstein art car is definitely the poster child for budget mod projects.

It was created by sculptor and environmentalist Buzz Knapp-Fisher, who spent the last six years modifying the automobile into an almost carbon-free mode of transport. He spent about $400 on the car and made some modest and cheap adjustments over the years. Artistically speaking it works because even thought he used all kinds of car parts he managed to stay on one side of the color spectrum.

The Womble Truck started out as a gas car but he eventually was converted to run on bio diesel and now runs entirely on french fry oil. It can run on regular diesel and only does so if its too cold to start with bio diesel first. As you can imagine his gas bill is way low. Nice work Buzz and good luck on your next project with the electric car.

Magnolia Pearl 4x4 Rolls Royce Art Car

Magnolia Pearl aka Robin "Pearl" Brown of Bandera, Texas and her partner John Gray opened up a business selling clothing and accessories made from vintage laces, velvets, silks, and embroidered linens from her collection. It all started with a bag she made that was so amazing that a total stranger tracked her down in store and bought it from her. So she made another and another and today she is an accomplished textile artist who has designed all kinds of things from vintage backpacks, purses, clothing, jewelry, and even some fine furniture pieces.

What interested me about her was her amazing 1958 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud 4x4 Hippie Glam Art Car and the matching airstream that went with it. WOW!!! First of all, this Rolls Royce art car is even more over the top than John Lenon's Art Car, with more flowers and off road power in one car than all of Haight Ashbury and Monster Jam put together.

The airstream also has an amazing paint job but it truly is breath taking and cozy once you get inside and see all the details. She has completely remade this airstream in her unique style with plenty of texture and color to keep the eyes busy for a long long time. And after a long day of doing some off road cross country travel you can pull over and soak in a claw foot tub filled with hot water and bubbles. Have tea and fall asleep in what looks like the most comfortable airstream bead I have ever seen.

Robin Bandera and her creations are a delight to the eyes and soul in every way and has managed to pull together her style using the elements at her disposal with ease and perfection, case in point. The only criticism I have of her is that she should have installed a roll cage inside the art car, but I am willing to over look this minor detail, this time:) Great Job!!!

I stumbled upon this ostentatious golden beauty tonight and had to put it up on art car central. Not only is it a Rolls-Royce covered in gold but its got a Hemi engine of epic proportions. This vintage 1970 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow had an "ordinary" 6.75-liter V8 swapped out for a 592 Hemi, complete with dual-stage nitrous system for a reported output of over 1,000 horsepower. The chrome engine that pops out of the hood might not be the Queens car since it take away from the usually-dominant classic grille, but the hand stitched leather-covered roll cage is both classy and safe at high speeds.

I think I found one the biggest pink colored freighter ships on earth called the "Contship Germany" owned by The CONTI-Group, one of the world's leading managing owners of container vessels and tankers. That's a whole lot of pink paint if you ask me but I think its just a starting point for what could be a beautiful art ship. They probably should call on Emily Duffy creator of the Vain Van Art Car about putting on the finishing touches on this transatlantic beauty and then reposting it here on art car central.

Massive Armored Graffiti Art Truck by Mr Cartoon - Art Car Central

This Armored Art Truck was created by artist Mr Cartoon to promote the 2009 film, "Armored", starring the likes of Jean Reno, Laurence Fishburne and Matt Dillon, Mr. Cartoon and SA Studios created a one-of-a-kind armored truck in Cartoon’s signature Angeleno style. The only other armored art car vehicle I've seen so far was one covered in pennies I wrote about here on Art Car Central.

Mark Machado, aka Mr. Cartoon is a Mexican American tattoo and graffiti artist based in Los Angeles, California. At age of eight, Mr. Cartoon realized his passion for art and then went on to his first paying art gig at age twelve. He grew up in Harbor area of Los Angeles County were he begun began airbrushing t-shirts and Lowrider cars before adopting the legendary "Fineline Style" tattoo art.
