We are intrigued by Katrinia, who is reading a Robin Spencer mystery and appears fully absorbed in the story. Suddenly, she either searches her home or reacts to a noise she thinks she hears, suggesting unease.

A bit later, we heard someone scream and witnessed two people physically attacking and beating a man.
At this point, questions arise: Who is this man being attacked? What are the two assailants doing?
Now, shifting back to the present day, we meet Mac, Gnarly, and Arthie. This first chapter certainly delivers action almost immediately.

Who is after Artchie and why? Why did they steal a police cruiser and act like officers? Archie does seem to know all the Spencer police officers.
We seem to have leaks. Murders are happening everywhere. Randy, an FBI agent, and Tom Cruz, who appears to be opposed to Arthie Monday [Kendra Douglas], are involved. Is that her real name? Arthie seems to be protected by friends and guards.

The tension builds: Will Tom reach her, or will the Spencer police intervene? What role will Mac play? Will he help solve the case and protect his love?

Lauren Carr does it again. Pulling out all the stops for a hidden secret family disappearance. How the siblings react and what happened years later. This book brought tears to my eyes a few times. I love what a plot. I loved it. The plots, twists, and turns were always a surprise, keeping you guessing to the end. Once a you read one more likely you will be hooked and want to read more.

We met Helen in her 5th-grade classroom as she waited for school to be out and had to go home with her mother and siblings.
We also meet Helen's best friend, Stacey. We know her mother pulled in, but did she return to take Helen and her siblings home?

We get a glance at Chris and a few helpers, including his daughters, by Nikki, who is helping out.
When Chris spots his wife after she pulls in, he is in the barn.
As they review the cold case Doris has received, they are looking up information. Just before dinner is ready. Somebody came up to the house, and it seems that they forgot to close the security gate.
Who could this person in the company be?

Kassie seems to drop by out of nowhere, and why? Why would she bring up her father or think she might have found him? Then bring up her mother's disappearance, and think she was abducted by someone named Pee Wee Herman?

The Geezer Squad gets more info and another cold case. Could Lady in Barrel be connected to two missing parents? Are Helen's parents another cold case unrelated to the one the Geezer Squad is working on? Or is it?

It's Time for Halloween is a decent book. I enjoyed it. This book is for babies to three-year-olds. However, I do love children's books and reviewing them. All children's books will be passed along to newborns or new parents to enjoy.

I do this with most of my board books. However, I do hold on to them for a bit or for special occasions. I read this book in a few minutes, and I really enjoyed it. The layered view as you turn the pages is a neat idea I haven't seen in a board book. I also enjoyed that one of the critters could be seen from the beginning to the end of the book.

The pictures tell the story, and you find different things on each page. Children and little ones can count for pumpkins or who has what costumes. It's all fun and learning for the little ones. There is rhyming going on throughout the book as well.

I really liked the fact that each page has you do a little bit of something different. Your child or children can count or make it so that if the child wants to learn the sounds of the different animals in the book. You can do that with this. This book is for babies to toddlers. It's great for the Fall / Autumn season or for the seasonal holiday of Halloween, which some call it.

We are introduced to Lou. Why is he in prison for something he did? But why did they decide to rob a casino and not return the money to us beyond me?

We seem to get an adventure with many different folks. It starts with wanting to find out who and why his sister was killed.

Why does everyone want the money? Or is it something else that they want?

There seem to be quite a few dead bodies along the way. Someone seems to be cleaning up his messes. Who wants Lou dead? Why do they want the money? Though there seems to be another plot going on, it seems that someone keeps coming after Lou.

That person seems to think he knows this tech or has it or something. Though Lou seems to have found a woman as well, and maybe a little romance come about. What will happen to him and the young woman he first meets?

Will he solve the mystery of how his sister was killed? Why was she killed?

We learn that a few couples have been invited to the Spencer Inn. But why? What only a few select members.

This brought together all my favorite characters for marking. If you haven't read any of the series by Lauren Carr, you are missing out. Each series is done wonderfully. I have a favorite from each. Once again, they came together for a mysterious gathering.

Will they solve it together, or won't they? What mayhem will the dogs get into?

What lovely adventures and discussions await? Will couples enjoy themselves and make friends? Will there be more of these detective clubs gathering in the future? Can they figure out the clues and put them together, and give the caption some peace of mind?

They seem to be talking about a case while enjoying some downtime. They all seem to be getting frustrated, angry, and tearing each other apart over it. It seems there are no clues.

Did Doris give one because the murderer had shared a grapefruit with someone?

But maybe Jessica found a break in the case as to how Emily Bennett had a Ska slip scarf that was Charlotte's?

Will they find out how Emily got the silk scarf? Will it lead to more clues?

We get introduced to the world, and how Fangs of Dangs are wondering about Skee?
Why are they picking up children and then never returning them? We meet the Isby family.
There are Janner, Tink [Kalmar], Lelli, their grandfather, and their mother, Nia. Where is their father? Who is their father? What adventure will they have?

We hear more snow children as they get ready for the Dragon Day festival.
Janner feels like he always has to keep looking out for his brother and sister. However, he does get to do what he wants.
His grandfather wants to tell him, but his mother doesn't want him to say anything or bring up memories. Why secrets and no truth? Though Janner knows his father's name is Esben.

Will the children enjoy the festival together? Janner is trying to keep his siblings nearby. Will it work?
Leeli has gone missing. This happened between sad songs and before dragons came up to start dancing.
But before Tink and Janner can watch the dragons. They had to find their sister Leeli.

Their dog Nugget seems to give a clue with his barking. Once they find Leeli and Nugget, they are in a fight with two Fangs of Dangs.
Someone may have helped the children with the two stones thrown at them.

Janner and Tink help their sister. Tanner thinks they should head for home. When they get close, they see that it's dark. Podo seems to have gone to see the dragons. They go, they take Glipper Trail.

Will they find Podo (grandfather)? Where did Podo go?
Will they find their moma with Podo? Did they go to see the dragons? Why was everything dark and no smoke, as if no one was home?

We get a dragon dance and a song that Leeli sings. But where did it come from, and how did she know it?
Fangs have caught them. March them to a jail. But what will happen to them? Will they be tortured or sent away?

Will their mother or grandfather find them? We see that the adventures are starting.
What will Igiby's children do and what adventures will they get into? Who is this mysterious stone thrower?

There seem to be secrets, and they don't seem to know why. Why is Nia not really telling the children about their father? Especially Janner.
What is their family history? What adventures will all three children have?

We are back with Lincoln and his crew. Only now do we hear about Bo's story in this next book. I wonder if we will get a few more books in this series. About Steph and maybe a few others. But I really am glad we do hear a bit about Lincoln, his wife, Jennifer, and their little one.

We meet Bo and Mason at a coffee shop. We also meet a woman named Joy.
Will Bo and Joy hit it off, or will Bo put too much information on her too fast?
We do get Lincoln mentioned once more. I would like to know if we will get a bit more on Lincoln and his wife, or at least hear about his life and whether he started a family.

We meet Chloe. So we get a more subjective perspective. We have met a boy named Finn.
Will Finn find a way out of the Amish, or will he stay Amish? Seth might be able to help, or he won't. We will see. Are Amish really strict, or are some parents harsh on their children to stay in the church?

We see more of this relationship. But there seems to be someone watching Joy. But who was texting her from an unknown number? That's creepy and strange.

These letters and phone calls seem creepy and weird. But it shouldn't be something joy needs to worry about, but is and has a right to be.

We are introduced to the family that we will be following. We are seeing Eli's point of view at the moment.

We know the boys are home, and Eli see thus father walk away? But why? Will Eli go looking for his father? Will he stay and help his mother and brother?

We seem to be seeing how each member feels or struggles when someone walks away. Will Danny and Eil keep looking for their father? Will Eli go off and leave his brother, Danny, with their mother?

Eli seems determined to go search for their father. Danny seems to have either dreams or nightmares. Are his headaches due to them?

Now there m I ther is looking for both her sons. Will she find them? What will she do if and when she finds them?

It looks like the boys are searching for their father. After finding out some information about him, they realize they do not know him. Will they decide to head back home? Will they follow, hoping to find their father? Will their father return, and will they all be together? Will it just be Gretta and her sons that remain?

What adventures does Eli go on, and will he let his father learn a lesson, or will Eli do something to help his father heal and help a man who lost his whole family? Will his father feel better?

Was his guilt too much to consider dying, and will this Magpie and his family understand, and what is the result of giving one son for another? Will the Inians see that his son might be struggling, and is that what he wanted for a son he so wanted to teach and have help hunting? Did these Indians decide that what they did would not help, or did it make more sense to see the world as it changed to?

We meet up with Fee. She is about studying or researching, not playing—her flatmates help her bury her mouse.

I am curious about her parents and, if she has any, her siblings. Suppose this is the same Fee that is mentioned at the end of book one. Her name is Aoife, but friends call her "Fee". Wonder what she's doing in London and who she works for.

We meet Gil, and we see his point of view. He seems interested in a woman who was on stage. What happened to him? What caused his death and exile to a theater in London? He has come alive this year when an ung woman came to visit and explore the stage.

Fee thinks she can pass on her leaking as if it were a choice. But what if she's soul, and she really does have a choice?

Will she help Gil? Her mother warned her, but she didn't take it seriously.

Where she is now, she has to forget her family, such as her brothers and parents. However, we have some memories of her mom and Papa, and of her brother, Michael, and the twins. Will her siblings have Souler, or is it just women in the family?

It's getting more and more interesting as the story goes on. Will Fee finally know that she found her healing? Did he see her?

Why can souls travel centuries? But somewhat struggling in the 21st century with life once they run into their leeches?

Will Fee and Gil have a few children at some point? Will they be souls as well?

Will Fee free her leating? Will she join him once she does? She's trying to learn her soul's past. But is it a family business, or something else? Spring Thaw:

A Chris Matheson Cold Case

We are introduced to Chris and his family when we get a premonition of what is going on six years earlier.

Who came into the church and started shooting up the church while trustees were in a meeting.

Was it a trustee or was it someone else? Was it Duance McCall? Why stick it to him? Why investigate him? Why does he have a mystery that was unsolved in the case of why he cut off his family and friends when the church split?

Chris got some information about what might be going on, but not much. Though we hear Kirk and what was going on around the time of the shooting.

Though we get more of Kelly's father's story. Why all of a sudden do we have new witnesses come about, and now a murder weapon?

A 6-year-old cold case seems to be reopened again, but why? Is someone covering for their own family member?

Lauren Carr can do it with short stories, too. She hooked me with this one as it was only just starting. I am only a few pages in.

Well, we get more information, and now we don't know who did it. Was bishop really the target? Lauren Carr put twists and turns even in the middle of the story. Who is lying and why?

Killing Bid:

A Mac Faraday Mystery Short

We are introduced to Mac and Artchie through Mac's perspective, primarily through his troubles with bag snatching.

We are also introduced to Ben and Catherine's Flemings, who are Archie's friends.

While shopping, they talked about Celeste Taylor and the Estate auction Mac was invited to.

When they get an auction or a lease, look at the jewelry left here. Archie and Catherine come up to respect their husbands' statement that all of Celeste Taylor's jewelry is fake.

Is this true or is it not? La Chat is mentioned in the book. Did he do it or not? Who is La Chat?

A Beauty to Die For:

A Lover In Crime Mystery Short

We meet up with Joshua and Cameron. It all starts with a 2 am phone call from his cousin Tad Macmillan.

This is the start of a series of secrets. But clarify one person's name for a dying person so she can have peace.

Who is covering up murders, but especially Rachel Burke? Who framed Billy and murdered him? But made it look like something else and cover it up?

There are twists and turns, and even more to unravel this mystery.

Cameron and Joshua seem ready to prove that the dying mother's son did not do it, but to catch the real ones? But who did we seem to have found another murder along the way?

2025 Yearly Wrap up

Well, 2025 is left in the blink of an eye. When I first started the year, I wanted to get more done and stay on track. I could get mostly caught up on what was needed for my Instagram and here. Monthly wrap-ups took a hit, but my reading improved slightly. That's with only a few books over my 2025 goal. My goal was only 12 books for the year. I read over that in a few books.

But as my year wraps up, I aim to complete more of the reviews in 2026. But mainly, my Grandma needs my mom and me for the summer of 2025. Family came first, then reading. Though I did okay. I hope to resume monthly wraps starting next year. A New Graphic will be made once I post this, or if I have time before the year is out, I will create one.

I had a reading goal of 12. I read 15 books this year. Congrats to me. I have read 3 books so far this year, exceeding my 2025 goal. My first book of 2025 was The Rise and Fall of Miss Fannie's Biscuits by Wanda E. Brunstetter and Martha Bolton, and my last book of 2025 was Bring Her Home by David Bell.

My mood read for the year was up and down. I read every month, but my pages were all over the place, and they were up and down. I had a reading goal of 12 and read 15 books in total. I had a goal of 1000 pages and read over 3,231 pages.

We meet Bill. Who is looking for, or has received a call about, this daughter? He wonders where and if his daughter is Alive.

He met with Detective Hawkins. He is told about his daughter, Summer, and her injuries. He also finds out about her friend Haley.

Detective Hawkins asks a few more questions. Bill's sister arrives to support her brother and niece. She tells Bill that Summer called her.

What is happening? Does Bill really know his daughter? What actually happened to Summer?

It seems that both Summer and Bill are still grieving. Bill grieves for his wife, and Summer grieves for her mother. Will there be healing?

We find out that the girl in the hospital may not be Bill's daughter, Summer. It takes a few days and some clues from the girl for them to realize this. Is Summer dead, or where is she? Is the girl really Summer?

Is Adam a friend, or could he be involved in Summer's disappearance? It seems odd that Adam is often around, even though he is supposed to be on his way to see his son.

We are getting some of the story and some answers about what happened that day, and everything seems to be happening. Will they find Summer alive or at all?

We meet Henrietta. And her family is somewhat mentioned at the beginning of this book. We also met her dad. A new veterinary assistant has come to check on the Millers' horse, Jack. Could there be a romance in the making as Nickloas and his sister come to town to help their grandfather?

Research for A Daughter’s Choice leads to goats nips and cow cuddles

Each time I come up with a new story concept, I’m super excited about it. When a publisher lets me know the “pub” committee has approved a contract for the story, I get even more excited. Then I sit down at my computer, open a document, and zoom, my fingers take off on the keyboard . . . . nope . . . not exactly.

What really happens is that I suddenly realize this fabulous story idea will require a ton of research. In the case of A Daughter’s Choice, featuring goat lover Henrietta “Hen” Miller, I needed to be an “expert” on raising goats and tending to a horse with colic and making candy from goat’s milk, and delivering a foal that isn’t positioned correctly (and treating a crotchety cat!). The story also required a deep dive into several other kinds of livestock, veterinarians’ clinics and vet assistants, and facets of the Amish faith that I wanted to make sure I addressed properly.

Much of this information is easily available on the Internet and in the many reference books about the Amish I’ve acquired over the years. But on-line research doesn’t allow me to get up close and personal with key characters in my story—the animals. I especially wanted to hang out with some goats. To my surprise, I had trouble finding a place in the San Antonio area where I could interact with these frolicking creatures.

Then my daughter-in-law came to the rescue. She found Cavalry Farm, a nonprofit organization that takes in and cares for all sort of livestock animals in little Adkins, Texas, just south of San Antonio. They have frequent open houses where—for a nominal fee—the public can visit, pet, feed, and yes, cuddle some of the animals. My response? ROAD TRIP!

The farm is home to a small herd of pygmy goats as well as larger dairy goats. I have never been close to a goat, so I didn’t know what to expect. They were as curious about me as I was about them. They crowded around me, climbed up my rollator, chewed on my purse strap, nibbled at the zipper on my shorts’ pocket, and prodded my hands with their noses. I had a fabulous time!

The volunteer who stayed with us in the goat pen shared all sorts of tidbits about the care of goats. My grandson, who’s two and a half, chatted with them. I took lots of photos for marketing purposes. Most importantly, I gained an understanding of why Hen is so enamored of goats. They’re lively, friendly, and determined to learn all about their visitors.

Of course, Hen isn’t simply a “goat whisperer.” She also loves horses, which leads to her first encounter with vet assistant Nicholas Byler, a newcomer to Smicksburg, PA, and many other animals, including cats and dogs. At Cavalry Farm, I also was able to visit with

horses, pigs, donkeys, alpacas, chickens, turkeys, and cows. I’m from Kansas so I’ve had my share of livestock sightings. However, I’ve never been offered an opportunity to snuggle a cow. Who knew that is a thing? My farmer family members will find it humorous, I’m sure.

The cows lounge on the grass just waiting for a visitor to come along, sit beside them, and snuggle up. It’s so stinking cute!

No cow snuggling occurs in A Daughter’s Choice. However, I can assure readers there is plenty of fun with a runaway puppy up for adoption, goats on the loose tearing through a wedding prep tent, and more. The story also moves beyond the humorous as Hen overcomes past losses and grief , allowing her to make important choices about her future. Nicholas too has to make hard choices about his occupation and his life as a faithful Amish believer. What they decide will determine if they find their happily-ever-after!

This story is sweet and cute. This book is about a small woodpecker that goes searching for a new home. However, he seemed to be seeking help in finding his new home.

This book is suitable for children in the reading range or grade level of 3-4. The pictures are well-drawn and lovely. I really enjoy the book and story. There are also several lessons for children to learn.

Receiving advice from friends and being polite are essential skills that all children should learn. This book does show that and makes it enjoyable ot read.

Will this little woodpecker find a home good for him? He goes on an adventure in search of his new home.

We meet up with Khahari at the beginning of the story. He got a plant he was to take care of over spring break.

He finds out that his cousin is coming to visit. Will she help Khahari learn about plants? Will Khahari change his mind about plants being boring to being fun?

This book is done well. Children can learn about plants and their importance, as well as how they help us and the planet. Children are introduced to various black scientists.

Though you get to learn about plants, although it is too plant-based and lacks much scientific evidence, there is a little bit of that.

We are introduced to Anthony, who is working while waiting for a young woman who was running late for her shift.

This young woman, who goes by the name Eileen Person. She came on, tears in her eyes, and she seemed ashamed at what she did.

They make a plan and then head to her family's hometown. It turns out that this young woman is Risa, who disappeared from home two years ago and has now returned, pretending to be married.

We get a glimpse of Anthony's parents, Larvane and Herb, and a little bit of their home life.

Will the family welcome them back? Will Anthony fall for the community, and will he fall in love with Rosa? Will the community welcome Rosa back in with her husband?

The act continues, though Susan got suspicious of her sister Rosa, and her husband; she is not happy about Rosa coming home.

Rosa and Anthony are getting along and are starting to fall in love with each other, despite appearing to be happily married.

There are some twists and turns, but god may have a plan for Rosa and Anthony?

We meet the Reeds. Mark and Elizabeth. But it turned out wrong.

Someone may have set up Mark, but why? Could it be that it has to do with the Reed Family or something else to cause the Reed family name or town?

We meet a few more characters and enjoy the mystery of why this happened. I also appreciate the Christmas theme.

Well, we get some action and twists in this little black ops, and things start to move.

What was it that they wanted from Elizabeth? Why did they want Mark out of the way? Reading this gets more interesting by the page.

We are introduced to Casey and her family at the beginning, and we learn that she was on a break when she received a call.

That call seems to be from John, who is a link to some of the children who need help.

But will Casey and Mike take on this little boy?

We see a boy named Spencer and his way of life. We see he is polite and friendly. However, that may not be all it seems.

We see Spencer having a side, but he seems to be stealing and taking. However, there is a hole in their bedroom where he is sleeping. What is the cause of Spencer's behaviour?

We see a bit more of Spencer and his behavior. He seems to follow the rules. However, he also has a habit of stealing and taking things that belong to others.

What could be causing the home to do this? And Why? We see more of Riley and her two children. We also see Kerion and his girlfriend Lauren. Kerion seems to have Asperger's. I'm not sure if we can find that out in one of the author's earlier books. It was a surprise mention in this book.

When Spencer School calls and finds that Spencer may be stealing, I can understand Kieron when he is a bit upset.

Well, we see what Spencer is up to, and he gets a little weekend away. However, its antics and behavior seem to come to a sudden halt.

When he goes to visit this family, something is off about his mother. And when they come back to get him. He's gone, where did he go, and what about his mother not stopping him? Though Casey may have found something of interest when they came to the door. They want to talk to Kerry's husband. What's going to be like?

You will learn to communicate with and connect to your spirit guides. I have only read so far. There are a few ways they can do that. I am at the beginning. This is a good beginner book, and I learn as I read. It may be a good book to refer back to as you implement the 10-step method or to see if the 10-step method is the right approach for you. I can help strengthen your communication with your SG or your team.

We learn more about how to connect with our spirit guides. We also learned about a few different senses that we can each experience. We could experience more than one of the special senses.

We also learn about how they may communicate with you. We could experience that all differently.

We learn who they are by asking different questions, but there are some questions they can not answer. We can learn what they are and when a good time to communicate with them is, as well as where you can communicate with them.

I enjoyed this book. It was done well. I love the take on the uniqueness of names for each flavor. Bully Vanilli is a good one for the vanilla flavor. Mustachio Pistachio is clever, and I like that. Though his name is a bit hard to pronounce, that may be it for me to do. Otherwise, I did enjoy the naming concept.

I also really enjoyed each page. I like that there is a lesson that Bully Vanilli needs to learn about a few things. I like the way the author is teaching children about kindness and bullying through something sweet and tasty that children like.

This is a fun and wonderfully illustrated book. Children learn, and what a wonderful way to use ice cream. The pictures can tell the story of what is going on as well, which makes it even better.

I like this children's book. Its style is different and enjoyable. It has letters written by children, and it reads in that kind of way. Children are asking about some other things. They are all mean as you turn a page in the book. A different child writes a new letter. They could be thanking God for something, writing to help heal a loved one, or telling God how they feel. Each one is different. On the other page is a scripture or quote from the bible that goes along with it.

The pictures are well done. I would say that each page showcases a different family. They are all different in many different ways, from a mommy and a sibling to a family of a few to more than one of two.

This book is a quick and easy read. But it teaches children about kindness, love, and how talking to God is okay—doing so anywhere or any place or writing your prayer down is also fine. God will listen or hear any forms of payers even if they are written and sent to him that way.

Here is what the book will look like when you get it. I got many different recipes. There are many to choose from. I have made a recipe that is included in this cookbook. The recipe is called Melt in Your Mouth Roast, and I really enjoyed it. I have used and tried many of Wanda's other Cookbooks. I can say they all come mad this way. This one I would love to try. Some of the scriptures in the book are inspiring and enjoyable to read. I know we have used a few of the other cookbooks I have received. Some of the recipes have been made for different holidays and get-togethers. I believe Mom even created some recipes for other events as well.

The images are credited to the publisher Barbour Books. I really believe the these cookbooks are great to have and are a wonderful gift of any cook. The pricing is not bad either.

Amish Country's Most Beloved Storyteller
