I found this awesome nautical flag banner at Land of Nod! Naturally, I fell in love before I noticed the price tag. $30 for a birthday party decoration is way more than what I would like to spend.

So, I came up with a plan...

Yesterday I was in Hobby Lobby, 40% off coupon in hand, looking for fabric to make a banner for Mason's nautical themed birthday party. I realized I didn't have an idea for a tablecloth! The printed fabrics are a bit pricey(considering I only need the tablecloth to last one day) & nothing really caught my eye.

We recently moved from the outskirts of town into a more historic, downtown area. We have loved our new home! As with any move, we are still (3 months later) in the "settling in" phase. We have been slowly adding more furniture & decorations to help our new place feel complete.

Our most recent addition was a dresser, scored on Craigslist for $60.

The project was inspired by this buffet, DIY'd by Melody @ My Passion For Decor.

Okra is my husband's all time favorite food. In Texas, there is only one way to eat okra...fried. Sorry, Texas (& Paula Deen) but, I am not particularly fond of frying food.

It makes a mess.
It makes my house smell.
It is not healthy.

After spotting fresh okra at the grocery last week, I became determined to make Nathan fall in love with okra of the not fried variety.

Today was my first experience with the Nick Jr. TV show Yo Gabba Gabba!. For months I have been hearing comments on the show. Comments such as "childrens shows aren't what they used to be" or "the writers must be on drugs while they think this stuff up." Having no desire to watch the show, I assumed it was wierd and dismissed the topic.

....that was before Mason was mobile. The past few days, between shower & bed time, I have been attempting to have Mase sit in my lap & watch about 15 minutes of TV as a "calm down tactic." Curious George and Dragon Tales each held his attention for maybe 5 minutes (which I thought was impressive)! Until...

This is Mason. His first birthday is less than 3 weeks away. My blog is about the fast paced journey through life with this little man. Mason has been diligently teaching me to be Momma over the past year. Already he has taught me so much, but I know there are many lessons left to be learned. I am eagerly awaiting the next lesson he has for me & adventure he will take me on next!
