Reliance announced the launch of its own tablet – the Reliance 3G Tab.
The Reliance 3G Tab is a budget Android tablet which runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It will sport a 7 inch display, presumably with a capacitive touchscreen and a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.
It will have 512 MB RAM and will likely come with a 1 GHz processor, like the Beetel Magiq. It weighs 389 gms and is similar to the Samsung Galaxy Tab when it comes to dimensions.
It will sport a 2 MP camera, and a lower resolution secondary camera for video calling. It comes with support for 3G, as well as GPS. It supports up to 32 GB microSD cards.

HCL Me X1 tab

Specification and performance

Me X1 comes with a 16:9 aspect ratio, 7 inch capacitive touch display that produces decent images at 800 x 480 pixels but the graphics aren't mind-blowing.
HCL has provided Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) operating system sitting on ARM Cortex A8 1 GHz processor, and 512 MB DDR2 RAM that gives decent performance. The tab doesn't hang even if you open multiple applications. It can also play full HD 1080p videos at 30 fps. The playback is not always smooth, however, that happens only occasionally.
For connectivity there is WiFi but no SIM slot for 3G, though SIM slots are common in budget devices including Beetel Magiq, Reliance 3G and even Aakash tab — all of these are priced at around Rs 10,000. Me X1 doesn't have Bluetooth either.
However, you can use USB dongles for 3G connectivity or for internet connections. Many users have complained of internet problems on HCL's website. But that might be due to user's failure to install the dongle drivers in the tablet properly, HCL claims that the tablet supports all the dongles currently available in the market.
Me X1 tab has 4 GB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 32 GB. But the notable absence of Android Market will leave you wondering what to store in the tablet. Though HCL has about 10,000 custom apps at Me Apps, access to Android Market would have been far better as it has more than 1.5 lakh apps and is growing.

The reports of the new systems are emanating from Taiwan where there are a number of Apple suppliers.
The new machines are expected to arrive some time in June/July this year and would correspond with the annual revamps Apple puts its systems through. Its also thought that the new faster MacBook Air machines would also be equipped with Thunderbolt connectivity which would be a great addition especially for connecting external drives, which is sometimes necessary due to the smaller solid state drives within the MacBook Airs.

The first Apple’s systems to feature the Sandy Bridge architecture were the MacBook Pros released in late February 2011 and were also the first systems to receive the new line of high-speed Thunderbolt ports providing ultra fast transfer speeds.

LG Revolution Coming May 26th On Verizon

"We are using USSD technology, which will enable users to access Facebook without having a GPRS connection on their phones," said Sumesh Menon, the co-founder and CEO of U2Opia Mobile.

Unstructured Supplementary Data (USSD) is the technology used by telecom players to send alerts to their users that inform them about their balance at the end of call or for sending miss call alerts.

Menon mentioned that though the technology will not provide access to graphics, it will help users send and view updates on their friends' Facebook walls.

"It is like sms and hence, the load on the network is negligible. We have built some commands through which a user can receive alerts on activity happening on his wall as well post an update," said Menon.

U2opia launched this application today with Indian telecom major Bharti Airtel.

While Airtel customers can update their Facebook status through this USSD service free of cost, Rs 1 per day will be applicable for accessing the full-feature application, which enables viewing news feeds, commenting on or liking news feed stories, posting on friends' walls, confirming friend requests, viewing notifications and finding as well as adding friends.

"In the Indian market scenario, where the penetration of smart phones is relatively low and the use of internet on mobiles is primarily limited to key cities, many users are excluded from accessing their Facebook accounts via mobile phones," said Shireesh Joshi, Bharti Airtel Director - Marketing, Mobile Services , in a statement.

Airtel users can dial *325# and *fbk# for non-qwerty mobile handsets to access Facebook without subscribing to data plans, the statement said.

"We look forward to bringing millions of Facebook users in India closer to their love for social networking by allowing them to access it anytime, anywhere on their Airtel-powered mobile phones,"

Future Smartphones To Recharge By Voice?

It works by turning sound into electricity, and it uses strands of zinc oxide encased in electrodes, there is a sound absorbing pad which vibrates when sound hits it, this cases the zinc oxide to expand and contract and this then generates energy.

The energy generated can then be used to charge a battery, and a prototype device has been developed that can convert around 100 decibels, to 50 millivolts of electricity.
It certainly sounds like a very interesting idea, and they technology could also be used for other applications as well as mobile device

Hyundai i45 Specification

Though we saw another paper phone not to long ago, but the latest paper phone we’re seeing is much more high tech. Like the Kindle, it uses an E-Ink display and works by bending the phone into different positions to make calls, use apps, and listen to music.
Created by research teams at Queen’s University in Canada and Arizona State University, the 9.5-centimeter (diagonal) screen is actually a lightweight flexible display. It’s said to feel similar to a bendable piece of plastic.
Its thin body resembles that of a paper document, but, according to the video below, underneath the screen is a “flexible printed circuit with resistive bend circuits,” which are used to identify the bending of the display screen. The user actually chooses the shape for each function. For example, you can choose to bend the upper-right corner to make a call, or bend the lower left to listen to music. These shapes are then recorded into the software, and when repeated, they send the appropriate action to the device.

According to Prof. Roel Vertegaal, director of Queen’s University’s Human Media Lab, the phone does everything a normal smartphone can do. We don’t see any camera as of yet, so it’s missing a feature that’s extremely popular with smartphones, but we know it’s in the early stages, so that could be added in the future. He also said that with larger versions we’ll “no longer need paper or printers.” We’re not sure if we’d go so far as to say that, but it can definitely supplement the paper and printers we’ve used for so long.

The Paper Phone is still only a prototype, but Vertegaal expects all phones to be like this in the next five to 10 years. The main question on our minds is if the number of pocket-calls will go up as a result of the user sitting down and the edge of their phone bending upward.
According to the latest shipping numbers, Korea’s top three telecom operators sold 120,000 units of Samsung Galaxy S II in the country within first 72 hours of the availability.
While SK Telecom shipped 65,000, KT 45,000 and LG U Plus sold 15,000 units. To put the numbers in perspective original Samsung Galaxy S sold over 50,000 units in first 72 hours, but it was launched only one telecom operator SK Telecom.
With this start, we can only imagine the sales in rest 119 countries, which will see the Galaxy S2 launch.

Acer Iconia Tab A100 launched in India; Available next month

Even in standard specification, the V6 sports car boasts the high-tech features which also distinguish the SL 500 presented in autumn 2001. These include the vario-roof, Sensotronic Brake Control, automatic roll-over bar, electrically adjustable integral seats, adaptive airbags for driver and passenger, and large head-thorax sidebags. The Mercedes sports car is also fitted as standard with a stereo radio system, sensor-controlled automatic climate control, xenon headlamps, high-quality aluminium trim and seat covers in a sporty fabric/leather combination.

Mercedes-Benz has connected the V6 engine with the Sequentronic automated six-speed transmission, which SL 350 drivers can operate from the steering wheel, as in a racing car. Two rocker switches on the back of the steering wheel spokes allow particularly fast gear-change at the touch of a button. In addition, Sequentronic offers two gearshift programs (Comfort and Sport), which drivers can use to adapt the characteristics of the transmission to their personal driving style. Meanwhile, auto-shift mode is available for stop-and-go traffic conditions. This function enables Sequentronic to change gear automatically.

The new six-cylinder SL-Class model also has the same chassis construction as the SL 500, with the exception of the Active Body Control spring/damper control system. This means that the SL 350 also features four-link front suspension and multi-link independent rear suspension made from aluminium and disc brakes on all wheels, which are applied by the Sensotronic Brake Control electrohydraulic high-pressure braking system in response to the driving situation in hand.
The GL 500 will be equipped with more up to date features compared to the existing GL and will be a more highly priced variant.
The GL is an off-roader and in India it comes with features such as electric folding mirrors, electrically folding 3rd seat row, electric sliding sunroof, mounted fire extinguisher, media interface and automatic climate thermotronic (3-Zone) tyre pressure loss warning system.

Wow-Keys Keyboard Uses iPhone as Number Pad and More

I have seen some really interesting and cool keyboards over the years and this Wow-Keys keyboard is one of the coolest. This thing is a normal QWERTY keyboard on one side and where the number pad would normally be is an iPhone dock. You can also dock your iPod touch there too.

The dock will work with an app you can download that will turn the screen of your iPhone or touch into the number pad that the keyboard is lacking. The keyboard supports both Mac and PCs and has a button for changing between keyboard and iPhone mode. The keyboard measures 407 x 130 x 25mm.
When in iPhone mode the keyboard will enter text directly into your iPhone or iPod touch. It has hot keys for directly accessing iPhone functions too. The keyboard will also allow the iPhone to be used as a multi-touch track pad; it charges and synchronizes your iPhone as well.

Google Adds Video Chat To Android Gingerbread Devices

Enabling users to now use video chat on Google Talk over 3G, 4G or Wi-fi.
The new feature allows users to chat to any Android or Gmail web user directly from your Android phone and even use text chat whilst in video chat is needed, overlaying your texts over the top of the video stream as you talk.
Within your Google Talk friends list, a video or voice chat button will appear next to your contacts, allowing you to simply touch the button to connect with them via Video Chat.

It’s been almost three years and the whole $1 app ecosystem the App Store embodies still makes old school video game industry people about as nervous as a long-tailed cat in a rocking chair factory. Microsoft is looking at it from the bottom of a well, Nintendo just flat out refuses to acknowledge it and now Sony thinks it can tame it through sheer strength. This is the story of whether they’re up to the job.

If it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, especially the first non-Google duck with Gingerbread on it, then that’s pretty much all you need to know right there. Of course, when that duck starts meowing, before long you begin to wonder. There’s nothing to make the Xperia Play stand out as an Android smartphone apart from the extensive, but ultimately cosmetic modifications Sony have made to the stock Android UI, but that means there’s nothing particularly wrong with it either. Sure, there’s some added bulk on account of the heaviest bullet point on the marketing list, but once safely tucked in a pocket it’s barely noticeable even compared to the modern phone’s anorexic profile.
A lot has been made of the screen’s dimness, some even writing it off completely, to the extent that it’s the first thing I checked when I had the chance. And while it is noticeably dimmer than the Desire Z I used as a control, it doesn’t really have that big an impact. Bottom line, playing a darker game on a sunny day on the bus is an enterprise fraught with as much peril on the Play as with any phone.
The Xperia Play is an exercise in contrasts. Before sliding it open, it looks big and bulky, but once fully unfolded seems small and fragile. Only seems, mind you, the mechanism has about as much wobble as Stonehenge on a windless day. It’s also probably the best part of the phone, as it snaps back and forth with purpose and without requiring you to put your back into it.
The camera is the completely reasonable 5 MP sort of shooter you expect from pedigree Android phones these days. What you wouldn’t expect is Sony not bothering to throw in 720p recording despite everyone and their dog knowing full well the hardware is more than capable of supporting it.

However, the reason you’re scrolling down the page with aplomb isn’t to hear how aggressively adequate an Android handset the Play is, but rather whether it lives up to its branding. The answer is a resounding no. The slide-out gamepad is good for a phone, but can’t hold a candle to anything with the PlayStation name on it.
What I couldn’t understand is why they’d leave the most important thing about traditional gaming input apart from the buttons unchanged when their whole mandate was to bring proper game controls to the smartphone. A touchpad isn’t all that different from a touchscreen where tactile involvement is concerned, after all.
It turns out there can be peace between us, however. Don’t get me wrong, I still consider them barely preferable to a touchscreen. I’d rather have had two PSP nubs any day of the week, carpal tunnel syndrome and all. But even aside from the saving grace of said touchpads at the very least getting your hands off the screen so you can, for the first time in your smartphone gaming career, actually have a gander at what’s going on up there, there is one trick that turns them from infuriating to functional: always remember to bring your thumbs back to the dot in the middle.
The shoulder buttons pretty much mirror the touchpad situation. These are a lot easier to explain away, as making them anything other than tiny little caps with barely any travel would have ruinously dug into the Arc aesthetic Sony Ericsson’s engineers have struggled to maintain. The buttons, though, tie everything together and make it all worthwhile. They’re perfectly spaced and snap back to attention
Any mobile phone purchase decision is a series of ifs. If you find yourself constantly playing games on your Android phone, get this, the improvements to the input experience are marginal even compared to something like original PSP, but it positively sings next to a touchscreen-only interface. If, on the other hand you find the added bulk repulsive and would only stomach it for the sake of an email-devouring physical keyboard or better yet would rather have it gone altogether, then this shouldn’t even make your shortlist.

In essence, what you’re getting is a way of playing Android games that’s just barely comfortable enough to be worth it. A year, or even six months ago, The PSOne games and “exclusive” talk is all window dressing, at least until more than Crash Bandicoot on the PSOne side and Backstab on the other show up to the party. The good news is Android developers will most likely step up and unite behind it, if only because so little effort is involved in porting your game to it you could barely call it that. Not only that, but its probably Android’s best shot of forming a strong gaming brand and staving off fragmentation.
The biggest danger it was facing was getting stuck in the dreaded Nokia N-Gage no man’s land of half phone, half game console, whole turd. And although I can confidently confirm it cleared that hurdle like a champ, no mean feat in itself, it will probably be a success, but it certainly won’t be a success story.

White Apple iPhone 4 Released today

India got a new CDMA-based BlackBerry phone launched by RIM, called the BlackBerry Style 9670. With the latest BlackBerry 6 OS, the BlackBerry Style has a unique form factor-a flip-QWERTY design with a Dual high-resolution display on both sides of the lid.

The BlackBerry Style 9670 will be available with bundling through Tata Indicom, MTS, and Reliance Communication, currently the only CDMA providers in the country. It is priced at Rs. 24,990. The phone was first released globally in November last year.

Specifications of the device include a 2-inch screen on the outside with a 240x320 pixel resolution, meant for viewing ‘glance-and-go’ data like notifications, time, and messages. On the inside, the phone has a 2.7-inch screen with a 360x400 pixel resolution. An optical trackpad also features, as well as a 5MP camera with flash, GPS connectivity, Wi-Fi b/g/n connectivity, and expandable storage up to 32GB via microSD card (8GB card bundled).

It features a 1,150 mAh Lithium-ion battery that is rated to deliver up to 4 hours 30 minutes of talktime, 264 hours of standby time, and up to 14 hours of continuous music play. No details of the processor or memory have been revealed.

While the BlackBerry Style 9670 is a 3G-enabled CDMA phone, 3G CDMA service haven’t yet been rolled out in India, and so, for a while, the phone will only be useful with Wi-Fi, GPRS/EDGE, and BlackBerry’s data services. It comes with a bunch of applications pre-installed, including a document editor, apart from Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and YouTube. It apparently also has a brand-new WebKit-based browser that supports the latest web standards, including HTML5.

Wii 2 E3-2011

E3 2011 will go on from 7th to 9th June, and while Nintendo is going to introduce a playable version of the console during the show, the new console will only hit shelves in 2012. Codenamed Project Cafe, the Wii 2 will undoubtedly be more powerful than the Wii, and will apparently be better endowed than the PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 – no real major feat, knowing as we all do the outdated nature of those consoles when compared to the current graphics and processor technologies of PC gaming.

The Nintendo Wii when introduced was the first console to bring motion controllers to the mainstream of video gaming, and now that Sony has gone ahead and pretty much perfected the interface with PlayStation Move (introduced at E3 2010), while Microsoft has revolutionized the living room with the Kinect, it’s only natural that Nintendo will attempt to introduce something revolutionary with the Wii 2 as well. Rumours for now point towards full 1080p HD output, as well as a touchscreen interface on the controller, which can combine different button sets in one location as required, and feature hardware buttons around it, possibly including dual analog sticks. The touchscreen controller may also work as a standalone media player and game console, Rumours also indicate a possible IBM three-core PowerPC and ATI GPU combination, with 4.1 shader support.

Of course more details will be revealed or leaked in the later days leading up to E3 2011, and the big announcements that will give us the juicy details. First party and third party game titles are also expected to be announced. Nintendo is currently struggling on many fronts, with tepid sales of the 3DS after years of dominating the portable market with the DS, as well as sharply dropping demand for its Wii gaming console.

It also has a lot of catching up to do in the war of resolutions and graphics, but, with its out-of-phase (with Sony and Microsoft) development cycle, it might just have a decent chance at remaking its besmirched name with a truly powerful system endowed with the latest cutting-edge graphics and processor technologies, outpacing both the PS3 and the Xbox 360. The Xbox 720 is expected soon though, and Nintendo will definitely need to ensure comparable specs if not better, if it ever intends to recapture market share. For now, a price drop for the original Wii is definite, tiding the long months till the Wii 2 releases in 2012.
