How exactly did I get my site a page rank 2? Is it the age of the site? I haven't posted on here since November 2010 for many reasons I don't want to bore you with. I always thought page ranking was difficult. Seems though that just being out there and getting around 40-50 visitors per month is enough to get my site ranked! I can't believe that it gets that amount of visitors without any new content. The wonders of the internet hey?

I do enjoy writing so will try and add to this now and then with general marketing information and other ramblings. I have been keeping a watch on the internet marketing scene even though I haven't been able to do anything productive since the last post. A few people have really done well in the last 11 months that I've just been a spectator. Perhaps that's just because most are just looking for the next quick buck or fast cash!

Make Good Money As A Blogger

Great article on ABCnews and some nice videos too about how to make money blogging.

At BlogWorld, the largest social media convention, more than 3,000 people gathered to focus on turning their online content to cash.

I scoped out several attendees who are doing just that, and I got their lessons on success.
Bailey Vincent Clark, a busy mom of two girls in Staunton, Va., needed to make money from home as she cared for her youngest who is deaf.
Her solution: MakeoverMomma.com, which she targets to "busy budgeted women who want to feel fit, fashionable and fabulous after having kids."
She makes money through advertising, paid blog posts, and commission on sales through ShopOpenSky.com. She'll earn $15,000 this year.
Jordan Cooper, a stand-up comedian in Louisville, Ky., turned his love of a video game into cash by creating a blog devoted exclusively to one game.
With fm-britain.co.uk and NotaProBlog.com, he's now making $30,000 a year selling ebooks, advertising, consulting and speeches.
Shannon Hurst Lane, a full-time fire dispatcher in Zachary, La., started her blog, TravelingMamas.com, as an outlet from her stressful job.
She's bringing in the cash from advertising, sponsorships, books and consulting, to the tune of $25,000 this year. Plus, she has the added perk of free travel.

So how, exactly, are they doing it -- and how can you cash in too

1. Select a topic you're passionate about. Make sure you have a lot to say.
Blog about something you love.
To make money, you're going to be in it for the long haul, so it better be a topic that you could write about without getting paid—because for a while, you won't earn a penny.
Don't underestimate the challenge of creating daily content.
Before you even set up a blog, create a calendar of content.
If you had to write new stuff every day for a month, what would fill your screen?
Delve deeply into your topic as you go through this exercise.
Just writing a blog doesn't mean anyone will find it online.
You have to go where people are to promote your stuff, and that usually means Facebook and Twitter.
Create a fan page and a Twitter profile for you or your blog, and then develop a plan for how you'll build a following of people who are interested in your topic.

The more visitors to your blog, the more money you can ultimately make.

2. Create a promotional plan. Figure out how you'll get readers.
Just writing a blog doesn't mean anyone will find it online.

3. Build the blog.

4. Figure out how to make money.
Once you've developed a following and a routine with your content, you can begin to go after revenue.
Many bloggers make money through a variety of sources -- all at the same time.
Sign up for an ad network such as SocialSpark.com that connects advertisers and bloggers.
Contact small advertisers directly that you see promoted on competitive sites.
Let them know what you're doing, share details about your following, and allow them to get in early for a deal that's fair to them and you.
Maybe it's only $25 a month to start, but if you get 10 of those - and you grow your traffic, that $25 is soon $250 a pop.
You can't expect the big bucks overnight, but investing in relationships now will pay off.
Offer product recommendations that are relevant to your audience and earn affiliate fees or commission.
Sites like Amazon.com and thousands of others pay a nominal affiliate fee on sales that originate from links on your site.
OpenSky.com, which enables bloggers to connect with product manufacturers, pays a sizeable commission on sales to bloggers.
Create your own products to sell. If you have an expertise that your readers will pay for, ebooks may be a viable solution to generate sales on your site.

5. Take it offline -- bring it to life.
Use live events to promote your blog and to sell products and services.
Many bloggers, soloprenuers and small business owners now use mobile payment systems to accept credit cards anywhere anytime, which increases sales potential.
A small device connects to your cell phone and you're in business.
If you're at a convention or speaking engagement and you're an author with a book to promote, just swipe to make an instant sale.
Similarly, if you're a jewelry designer at a crafts show, just swipe.
Two options to explore before deciding which one is for you: GoPayment by Intuit and SquareUp.

Business and Personality Type for Online Marketing

Do you already own a business or run some kind of online internet marketing business? Are you thinking of setting up a business?

Did you choose the niche market or did the market choose you? What I’m getting at is this; we all know our personalities don’t we? So are you running a business around your personality or did you just happen to fall into your business area?

I think personally that if we choose something that fits our personality then we will be more successful at it. Would you agree? For example I am setting up an internet marketing business and would love at some point in the future to be speaking on a stage in front of hundreds or thousands of people. I would love to be a motivator. My personality type is such that I can fit into this niche very well. I enjoy writing on this blog and mixing with others on their blogs too.

The niche I have chosen does fit my personality too. It’s all about networking with others in your chosen field and building relationships with those people. It's a kind of online community in the online internet marketing niche. There are so many good marketers out there to follow and there is so much great content all over the internet. There are some golden nuggets of information too given away free.

Should you just be thinking of a niche market to attack, then ask yourself a few questions about your own personality before setting your business up...

- Are you good with people?
- Are you technical?
- What can you offer others that will benefit them?
- Do you want an online or offline business?
- What impression do you want to give to your audience?

How would you describe yourself?

- Outgoing, reserved, gregarious, shy, warm, cold, stubborn, open, perfectionist, critical, honest, helpful, happy, strong, persuasive, patient, weak, easily led, naive?

Once you answer all of these questions you may be in a better place to make the decision as to which niche market you’d like to get involved in. Perhaps you’ve already started something and you aren’t making a success of it yet. If it’s not too late you can always change direction. We’re told to stick at things and see things through but I’m not sure on this viewpoint. How long is long enough to decide if you can succeed or not? Is 2 years enough? My answer would be yes. For starters you need to start making money at something before 2 years is up otherwise how do you survive? You would be demotivated too I would think after this long of chasing your dream.

Are you selling or are you marketing? People hate to be sold something. They love the thought that they made the decision to purchase rather than feeling like you sold them something. They will probably come back too especially if you’ve given them a pleasant customer experience. If your personality is warm and welcoming you’re more likely to be able to succeed at selling something offline or face-to-face, as well as online of course. If you’re not a gregarious character then you’d be better suited to marketing products online where you don’t ever have to meet the people buying your products.

Whatever you do or are thinking of doing, I suggest you write down all your traits and characteristics first. Look at your competition and ask yourself if you could do what they do. Do you have the personality to succeed with your own business or should you just be happy with a job? Just a thought provoking article hopefully that you’ve found useful and helpful.

Facebook Ad Campaign Success: NOT!

Seems to be the norm lately for may paid advertising campaigns. Although I wonder how much time and money some of the large online income earners spent before hitting the golden egg? So this was a facebook advert that I created for an affiliate product. I liked the look of the product even though I haven't tried it. I haven't shown the product as I'm still advertising it using other methods also.

Let's analyse this page first above. I only wanted to test the water with the facebook advert by spending $20. I accepted the facebook suggested bid amount (perhaps for the next advert I'll try a lower bid cost per click) of $1.09 cost per click. Just look at how many impressions it got! My advert was shown 139,557 times on someone's facebook page. From that it was clicked 21 times over the course of the advert life period. The gap in the middle of the week I can only assume is because I changed the dates after one day to continue the advert for a longer period of time. The adverts take some time to actually get authorised and processed in the facebook system. Look at the CTR (Click Through Rate) percentage... pretty poor if you ask me. 0.015% CTR. Cost Per Click was cheaper than my bid price which was at least a saving. CPM is cost per mille or cost per thousand views

The next two images show the demographics of the 'clickers'. I love stats as I mentioned in a prior post and this kind of stuff needs close analysing so you know what works and what doesn't. As the affiliate product was from the USA I would have actually wanted the percentage of impressions to target them. I will make sure next time I just select the USA. The next problem is the age range of the clickers. The 18-24 year olds aren't the ones with the disposable income for the type of product. I targeted males as the product would appeal to them more than females.

I like the analytics part of facebook which has to be an important part of future adverts that I'll place. It's so good to be able to target certain audiences from the 500 million + users of facebook. This is true targeted traffic.

The bad news from this $20 advert is that there weren't any sales of the affiliate product. One things that I couldn't do was forward straight to the affiliate's website. I had to create a page on one of my domains and then the visitor was forced to click again from there. This may not have helped in the marketing process. I'll be back soon with another method I'm trialling for paid advertising.

UK Internet Economy Worth Billions

Internet Business is Booming in the UK!

Great article on the BBC about how much the internet market place is worth.

The internet is worth £100bn a year to the UK economy, a study has concluded.

The research, which was commissioned by Google, found that the internet accounts for 7.2% of the UK's gross domestic product (GDP).
If the internet was an economic sector it would be the UK's fifth largest, said the report from the Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
This would make the sector larger than the construction, transport and utilities industries.
Central pillar
Some 60% of the £100bn a year figure is made up from internet consumption - the amount that users spend on online shopping and on the cost of their connections and devices to access the web.
The rest comes from investment in the UK's internet infrastructure, government IT spending and net exports.
The report, The Connected Kingdom: How the internet is transforming the UK, says that the internet's contribution to GDP is set to grow by about 10% annually, reaching 10% of GDP by 2015.
The UK, according to the report, is the world's leading nation for e-commerce. For every £1 spent online to import goods, £2.80 is exported.
"This is the opposite of the trend seen in the offline economy, which exports 90p for every £1 imported," the report says.

Internet companies play a vital role in employment with an estimated 250,000 staff, the report finds.

Small businesses that actively use the internet report sales growth more than four times greater than that of less active companies.
The report also attempts to compare the UK to other countries in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
Under its scoring system, the UK ranks sixth, above Germany, the US and France. The highest ranked country is Denmark.
"The internet is pervasive in the UK economy today, more so than in most advanced countries," said Paul Zwillenberg, partner with BCG.
"Several industries - including media, travel, insurance and fashion - are being transformed by it."
Matt Brittin, managing director of Google UK, said: "The internet is a central pillar of the UK's economy.
"The sector has come of age, and with great prospects for further growth the UK internet economy will be vital to the UK's future prosperity," he added.

This post is to show how to rank on page 1 quickly of the search engine pages. Google shows this blog at number 3 for the search longtail keyword string. I've even knocked Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis from the top spot! (My other site martinsonlinemoney ranks numbers 1 &2!) Bing number 2 of 780,000 (incidentally the martinsonlinemoney site doesn't appear. I must check if I've added the meta data for bing on the site design. Yahoo shows the blog on page 3 of 11.5 million matches. The keyword string is 'martinsonlinemoney'. More to follow

Internet Marketing to Make Money Online?

I have received around 10 emails from some of the big names on the block at the moment about a product launch coming soon. It's the one with the funny name if you're not sure. I don't want to name it in case I get into trouble! Basically though these guys are all sending the same message to their lists saying how great this product is. Don't get me wrong it does look like it's a fantastic product with all the bells and whistles. I have no doubt that it will show some how to make money through internet marketing. I wonder how much these guys get in affiliate commissions from selling this product? I'm sure they do alright out of it! Question is though is this internet marketing?

My understanding is that I have to have a site or squeeze page, get a list of followers and then sell that list a product or service.... let's not overcomplicate things now shall we? This is what these guys are doing I suppose. What is often not said though is that you need the relationship with your list and build confidence in your subscribers that you're not just going to spam them at every opportunity. Some of the subscriptions I have do mainly that though... therefore I'm going through now unsubscribing from those mailing lists. I posted this hub on hubpages asking if some of these earnings are actually factual or are these people allowed to write what ever they want in bragging about earning $10000 in a day?

I'm just another statistic at the moment looking for that promised land of internet riches made from internet marketing. Do you know how many times the keyword phrase 'make money online' is searched monthly worldwide? Well it's around 823,000 according to the Google Adwords Keyword Tool. And there are 408 million search results on Google. Then there are all of the variants of that keyword string. I'd be interested in knowing if the number one position or rank for that keyword string pays lots of cash to rank that high, or what methods they use for search engine optimization. I'll keep plugging away with the various methods I'm currently trying to form some kind of passive income stream online.

Internet Marketing Niche: Competition

Competition is good but obviously not too much. There are some big guns out there who pay lots of money to compete in this Internet Marketing Niche. At the Cambridge Business Academy seminar last week it was obvious that Kevin Potts has a team dedicated to getting ranked on page one of Google and the other search engines. His SEO Guru Paul Lynch has a company in Peru and team of over 50 staff. I have a friend who pays £15000 per month on advertising his online gambling business and £5000 to an SEO company. That's £20000 before you've even made a penny!

Therefore I think it's time to concentrate on a niche and report back on this blog what I find and the results I get. Google Adwords is a great tool to find out how much competition there is within the niche market that you're thinking of. I have a few ideas but need to work on them and spend some time with them. These things aren't as easy as some of the 'gurus' make out unless you already have a mailing list of 10000! You need to make sure the keywords are searched at least 10000 times per month. Also make sure that the CPC isn't too high. Then work out how you're going to actually market this niche keyword string. I already showed here my Adwords Success (or not as the case was!) This is one method to market and advert. Another I am currently testing is using facebook ads. I'll test this for a week or two and report back on here how it went.

My question to you readers is: The Internet Marketing Niche is massive and there are huge possibilities. However is the competition just too tough to take on? Perhaps it's something to build into once you get success from a product launch or marketing campaign for an affiliate product? There are plenty of hungry buyers of products in internet marketing as they're all chasing the dream of riches. Whether these products deliver the promised riches is a whole new story. Can you tell me if there is too much competition in internet marketing to make money online (or offline for that matter)?

Cambridge Business Academy & Russell Brunson Seminar

So I went to the Cambridge Business Academy and Russell Brunson Seminar today. It was well organised and friendly and as promised the money paid to go was refunded on arrival. There were a few tips and techniques on traffic and SEO that I really enjoyed. One thing the SEO Guru for CBA Paul said was that they give a backlink to their site (Google Page Rank 5 website as well!) if you post on your site a link to them with the keyword "Make Money".. Works for me as they're the authority site! I've looked on their site just now though and can't find the list or blogroll that Paul showed on screen today. I'll add to this post over the weekend also once I've been through all of the notes that I wrote while at the seminar

My actual SEO rank went lower this week for some unknown reason!? Any ideas any of you readers? What I did last week was change the number of posts per page from 10 to 5 so perhaps that's the reason? I'll post an update on the Search Engine Optimization exercise over the weekend on this blog.

Kevin Potts seems a nice and genuine guy as do all his team. There was a sales pitch which is to be expected at these type of seminars though. The problem for me was the money... £8500 plus VAT for a complete internet marketing business. Now if it had been a different time I would have signed up. There was also a 3 installment payment plan which was also enticing but it's just not a good time for me personally. I have no doubt on the value of what they're offering from the Cambridge Business Academy. They have a great team in place and know their stuff. No doubting they know how to make money online.

First Free Internet Marketing Seminar

I'm off to my first Internet Marketing Seminar tomorrow in Cambridge http://www.russellbrunsonuk.com/ Paid £97 but that's refunded on arrival. Great idea to make sure people turn up. I'll report back once I have had time to digest what's been said throughout the day. It doesn't look like a sales pitch for 'fast cash online' 'how to make money in your sleep' or 'become the next marketing millionaire overnight' kind of event. The ex-vicar (Kevin Potts) line does make me a little sceptical but I'll go with an open mind. Not sure if Chris Farrell will be there as his wife has been ill but I'd love to see him live.

Work and home life are mad busy at the moment so not much time to get stuck into this online business. I'll get some juicy stuff up here over the weekend. I think I need to focus a little on list building (relationship building is more applicable I think rather than a marketing list or mailing list!) and creating a product. I have many ideas that I'd like to explore but for obvious reasons I don't want to tell about them on here before getting them off the ground. Many of the marketing gurus out there say that they start making money around the 6-12 month period but I'd be interested to know if any of them did this part-time and with a full-time day job. The cash making seems to come exponentially once it actually starts (well for them anyway!).

10 Tips to Build a Marketing List

How to Make Money? The money is in the list. Heard that one before? I'm trying to give free reports away to build a mailing list. A tactic some marketers say you should never do is to give free content away without getting an email address. This is exactly what I am doing on my site MartinsOnlineMoney. Below are 10 tips to build your list. If you have any other ideas please share them.

1, YouTube videos with a link to your primary site in the text. My Channel is building on the basics and experiences that do and don't work in the make money online niche.
2, Facebook fan pages. Get followers to either like your content on your page or subscribe to your mailing list. My page is giving free internet marketing resources away.
3, Develop a following on Twitter in your niche market. Be careful not to spam your list with just links that try to sell them something. They wont stick around too long.
4, Leverage your contacts through other people's list. Create a product that you can take to a fellow IMer, preferably someone you know who has a large marketing list. Then show this product to them and ask if they would promote it. If it's quality then they wont hesitate.
5, You can advertise your product or yourself by either paid methods such as facebook ads or Google Adwords, or free methods such as forums and blog comments on others' blogs.
6, An autoresponder is a must have to control your list once it starts expanding. I use Aweber but there are free ones out there to get you started if money is a problem.
7, Once someone lands at your website or blog give them an incentive to come back. Offer something for free such as a free report or free software. It's not all about making fast cash from your followers immediately.
8, Steady targetted traffic has to come to your website. Either get your site pageranked by Google, or use the tips here to drive traffic to your website. Once the visitors are there you want to give an experience that helps that person. This way they will come back.
9, Give something away to the visitor that they are encouraged to pass on. Make your free report content so good that readers will want to pass it on to their list. As long as your URL is listed in the report somewhere. The person passes it onto their list. They may have a large mailing list. 10% of their list may then sign up or visit your site. This is viral marketing made easy.
10, Offer a weekly newsletter that will give them tips and techniques for their niche market. Then use your autoreponder mentioned above to send these newsletters out automatically.

There are a million and one ways to build a marketing list or mailing list. I am writing a document that I plan to give away as a free report on this subject of list building. Do you have any other sites or tips to build a mailing list? I'd love you to post links or tips on the subject.

Build Your Mailing List: More Important than SEO?

First thing I have to mention is about this blog post (You Want To Make Money) I seemed to appear down and disheartened to a few readers as they contacted me and told me so. That wasn't my intention. All I wanted to write about is the fact that in the Online Internet Marketing and Fast Cash Online game there seems to be no real interest in the people, just the cash! I suppose what I should be doing is just focussing on writing down my journey and building a list. Not just build a list, build relationships with my marketing list. That way I know the people who follow me are actually interested in what I'm doing also. The cash should come it's just not fast cash as some of the self-professed gurus out there make out. No need to worry those who are worrying we all go through ups and downs with our lives and businesses in particular :-) So now onto this post... Is Search Engine Optimization more important than building a mailing list?

I would like to keep coming back to this post and adding more content. It may pay better though to post new updates (as far as the techniques go for backlinks, content, SERPs, etc ;-) ) each time and refer back to the original topic in this post. I'll have a think on that one unless readers have any tips for that?

Ezine Articles has lots of free stuff about list building. I'm going through some of these articles and will report back.
There are also lots of link building and SEO tips on their site too.

What I would like readers to comment on is whether you see building a mailing list or Search Engine Optimization as the most important element to your online success? Google Adwords Success : NOT!

I get the Google Adwords Letter through the post and I thought it may have been my million dollar earnings for last month...no such luck. It's a voucher offering me £75 worth of Adwords Campaign money to get started. It's as easy as 1 - 2 - 3 apparently to make money online through Adwords. Or so some of the sharks out there would have you believe. So first thing I do is make sure my martins online money dot com website has a couple of top selling clickbank affiliate links on it. Google Sniper is a good product that sells very well in cyber land. There's a banner and link on the squeeze page(Squeeze page is defined many times over the internet so just do a search engine search for the term and you'll see exactly what this means if you don't know) Anyhoo, Google Adwords can make you money I have no doubt about that. Here's my experience...

(Slight digression from the Adwords Success.....) By the way I know I said this Rags to Riches Blog was meant to be a beginner's journey to making money online but I don't actually think Beginners are reading or looking in. I could be wrong, so if you're a newbie Internet Marketer then please post something! The competition for IM is huge and there are some very good websites out there that I may never be able to compete with to get a high page rank in Google. Most people are simple animals I think that want something for nothing and just quick cash and simple techniques on how to make money online. What I'm doing is documenting my online journey of the things that do work and those that don't. (End Digression of Adwords Success, lol)

So the squeeze page is ready. There are even free PLR reports that I can't throw away to download and give away rights to build your list of subscribers! I research the niche market that I want to target and get some keywords.
Make Money Online is by far the best keyword string, phrase match keywords, with the most daily searches.

Easy Money Online was another popular keyword string
Internet Marketing Tips gave good keyword results. I didn't care too much that there was really high competition as I just wanted my adwords advert visible and mostly to people searching for these keywords that would actually buy one of the established products I had on my squeeze page.
Internet Marketing Reports wasn't too hot but I had thought it would give relevant traffic generation with these 3 keywords
Tips to Make Money Online was another string of keywords that didn't perform.

These were the broad phrase match keywords that I used just to get the advert visible. By far the outright winning keywords were the Make Money Online ones. These words got 23 clicks and were on almomst 5000 page impressions somewhere. You can see from the video that my advert was very simple and I even had good (well sort of good) keywords in my website URL also (martinsonlinemoney website address in the advert)

I am trying to visualise what goes on with the Adwords campaign in a potential buyer's mind.

- They open Google, type in the keyword string: Make Money Online, back comes a gazillion search engine results (would my adwords advert be listed in the side bar of sponsored links? Not sure, if I did the correct SEO then possibly),
- Where ever these searchers go to my advert was there over 5000 times for all of the phrase match keyword results. Bearing in mind the potential daily traffic searches showed around 45000 results for Make Money Online. Also just to note I targeted just the UK and USA markets as that was plenty of traffic for my daily budget.
- 25 people over a 2 day period click my adwords advert. Each click cost me around $2. Correction the cost per click was £2 not $2 as my account is in the UK. As mentioned luckily not my hard earned income!
- They get to my squeeze page and see the free reports and banners for my affiliate products. The Google Analytics statistics show only 5 visits to the squeeze page so there is a discrepency on one of these webmaster tools! Analytics also shows average time of the visitors of 4 minutes. I said in the YouTube video that's just the freebie sharks downloading all the free content and going on with their business! They don't even visit my blog to comment!
- 6 viewers on the martins online money site click affiliate product banners, Google Sniper and Bet on Sports. I came close to selling one of these affiliate products as someone got to the order form page impression. Darn it that one got away, lol.

So lessons learned then? Google Adwords Campaigns do work, there's no doubt about that. It just didn't work for my marketing keywords this time. There is still some money in the Adwords pot that I am going to use on a different campaign. Traffic doesn't always mean sales. You have to drive a lot of traffic to your site to get a percentage of sales. Half of one percent of people that potentially saw my advert clicked on it. That's lame. Better sqeeze page needed? Perhaps. I have some other marketing ideas that I will use Google Adwords for in the near future. In the meantime, I need an income. Well not really, I'd like an income. Adwords is a potential income stream and can't be discounted.

How To: Search Engine Optimization Basics

Carrying on from the last SEO post (SEO Traffic Challenge) then... what did I do to this blog to optimize for search engine traffic? What I will talk about in this post is the on-page search engine optimization tricks I did. I haven't actually seen a great rise in traffic but perhaps it takes some time to find it's way into the SERPs and for the big 3 to find it (Google, Yahoo, Bing)? I'm struggling to work out why Yahoo and Bing aren't seeing the blog. Any ideas anyone? Tips for those two please?

I could change the URL name as it's not well formed but I've posted it so many places on the net I can't be bothered to go and search them all out and make the changes needed. It's not all bad, it does have online money making in it. Next website I set up will be sure to have keywords spread into the URL name.

1. The title tag was changed from "Internet Marketing Make Money Blog" to "Free Internet Marketing Tips Free Guides Make Money Online Blog". Not many folks are looking for make money blogs, they may be searching more for money making blogs.. Internet Marketing is good but the competition is too great. I'm no fool and always look at the competition and just can't compete. Everyone likes free so I made sure that was in there twice. Make Money Online is the biggest keyword search from all of these keywords, so that had to be in there in that exact order. Problem is, as I mentioned in the previous SEO post; once my traffic does start coming here there's nothing really to buy. Just tips and things I'm doing to get off the ground. How's that going to make money? It ain't!

2. Meta Keywords were revamped to include the words make money online free internet marketing tips techniques tutorials guides presentations videos PLR traffic SEO. And combinations of these words too for extra effect.

3. Meta Description was optimized also so that all of the relevant keywords and keyword phrases were there. I don't know if it's fully optimized at the moment though to full effect as most of the phrases have tips listed. It may be that I have to add in other keywords. If anyone has any ideas here let me know. I have checked out some of the high page rank pages around the money making niche market and they don't seem to have much in all so they must just have plenty of backlinks and followers.

You can see now that the keyword density is not bad at all.What I may do is go onto the top internet marketers blogs and search around for nuggets of information on page ranking and backlinking now. As some of you are aware the topic of Search Engine Optimization Tips is a huge one and debated all the time.At the end of the day perhaps content is king still? Maybe after this blog has been around for some months and I add content all the time it will naturally do it's thing?

You Want to Make Money Online And Don't Give a Damn About Me!

My idea was to try to give away all my tips and free products, targeting newbies in Internet Marketing and I had hoped that people would interact and take a keen interest. Guess what? Nobody gives a stuff about me and the marketing basics. They just want to know how to make money online, and fast money online too! Show me the money, I need a quick income! Maybe once I start putting more in-depth tutorials or presentations or techniques I will get more comments? Or maybe I just do what everyone else seems to be doing and worry about getting an income online? Do I just create squeeze pages full of affiliate products and get targeted traffic to those pages? What exactly do I want to get from this online business? Popularity or money? Errr let me think...? I did my first Google Adwords campaign as they sent me a free voucher for £75 worth of Adwords clicks. One of the next posts on here will go into that.

I can't keep up with all of the ideas and ways to make money. Everyone seems to have the marketing bit really hyped up and I'm sure they get enough buyers just from the sales pitch. I will keep going with this blog just so that I can go back at some point and say "wow, can't believe how much time I wasted doing that when all the entrepreneurs just wanted the low down on fast cash!" I thought free stuff would work. I'm not even sure people are downloading my free reports! I asked for anyone that does take the reports to at least make a comment on here. Do they? Nah. I created my YouTube channel and did short presentations: Beginners Guides. There is some traffic, possibly from the SEO on the channel. I do need to upload another presentation soon to see if that can bring in more visitors.

Is this whole Rags to Riches Journey Blog just for my own entertainment and personal amusement? Is it just me rambling on and airing my thoughts and ideas? Each time I'm typing on here all I can think is that I'm not creating an income stream. No one's interested. This is a business after all and would any other business spend so much time without being paid? The aim is to make money online after all. Maybe that's where my effort needs to be spent? There are some damn fine blogs out there that have been around for a long time and are well established in the SERPs (Search Engine Results Page; definition is "the listing of web pages returned by a search engine in response to a keyword query") It would take me a very long time to get anywhere near them in terms of content and ranking I think. Especially in the Internet Marketing Niche. Seems like this is the newest buzz, well not even that new now.

SEO Results after 4 days

I've been worrying about getting this blog visible and noticed, trying Search Engine Optimization, tweaks and changes. Don't get me wrong the SEO Quake page is now showing an Alexa Ranking down 2 million in 4 days. When you're Alexa Rank is 7.8 million that's not a difficult task I suppose. The issue is that I don't actually market much on the blog. The Adsense adverts don't get clicked that much, as readers don't stay around long enough to see what the ads are showing! No one is interested in Cashcrate and how you can earn free money signing up with them. I doubt readers get to see the Amazon widget at the bottom showing mp3 music for sale, lol. I need more backlinks. I need some backlinks from high page rank websites. (When I talk about high ranking websites I'm talking about Google page ranks.) This is not a new idea, they are all tips that I found on Grizzly's Blog. Or should I even care about backlinks to this blog? I'm not selling what people are interested in buying. This is more a social splurge of my thoughts.

So what plans do I have now then for ways to make money online? Fast money like I said earlier. I'm already bored with trying to make this blog all welcoming and get my little online community of followers to join in with the cyber group hugs, hehe. People are shallow. They just want the fast cash unfortunatley. Maybe I'm just going to post money making ideas on here from now? I think I will finish what I started in the "Beginner's Guide to Internet Marketing Online" series of presentations. Just so that I can say look... can't even give this free PLR stuff away! And by the way just in case you haven't alredy got these free PLR reports they're here...MartinsOnlineMoney

I'm going to focus my efforts on ways to make money, money making ideas, passive income ideas, quick cash tips, fast cash online, fast cash secrets, secret money making tips, underground marketing secrets, underground money making ideas (just thought I'd add in some of the secret, underground marketing hype in here for effect! Lol) In all seriousness though the next blog post is going to show my first Google Adwords campaign. It doesn't actually finish until Sunday so I can't tell you just yet about it. If you've got this far in this post I commend your staying power!

SEO Traffic Challenge

So Search Engine Optimization is what it's all about apparently? Visibility to the world of Google, Yahoo, and Bing. There are other search engines but these three do almost all of the work worldwide. I'm experimenting with my make money online blog... I downloaded Mozilla Firefox and added the SEO Quake plug-in.

Here's the definition from their site of exactly what the plug-in does:

"Seoquake is a powerful tool for Mozilla Firefox, aimed at helping web masters who deal with search engine optimization and internet promotion of web sites. Seoquake allows user to obtain and investigate many important SEO parameters of the internet project under study on the fly.

Project Seoquake is being constantly polished and enhanced. All SERP changes are tracked down and taken into account. Update your version regularly."

Hours of fun for a saddo like me who loves analysing statistics! I checked out some of the more successful internet marketing blogs and general 'How to Make Money Online' sites. SEO Quake gives you stacks of details on how that site can be seen; ie backlinks, page rank, etc. I will expand fully on what this all means in terms of traffic potential and SEO over the weekend.

Here's an SEO Quake snapshot prior to me making any changes to my blog:

So as you can see from the image I have some relevant SEO meta content: The 'Online Money Making Blog' URL name contains the keywords I want. The Title contains the keywords; 'Internet Marketing, 'Make Money'. Meta Keywords are variables of what I'd like to be seen by the big Googley one, Yahoooo and Bing Crosby. Meta Description also contains all the relevant longtail keywords I want the search engines to see. There is still some changes I'd like to make so that there are variations on the theme of the order of the keywords and long tail keyword phrases. Underneath are all of the statistics for the Page, Domain, Backlinks and Other. You can get exactly what they all mean from the SEO Quake website under parameters, so I wont go into all of them now. Needless to say that Page Rank is important, links and backlinks on all of the big 3 search engines too.

I will post the next SEO Quake image which will show the changes I've made. I'll show the statistics and post them on here once the page has been cached again.I'm not sure how often 'caching' occurs so it could be a week or so. If anyone has the answer please post it here. Let's hope that all the relevant numbers have gone up to indicate that the site is getting more visibility to the search engines (rank I would obviously like to see reducing from the 7 million listed above!), which is exactly what Search Engine Optimization is all about after all! Interview: Successful Marketer Allyn Hane

MJP: Al, thanks a bunch for agreeing to do this.
AH: Glad to help out Martin.

MJP: What was your background pre internet marketing?

AH: I was a photojournalist in the USAF from 1993-1997. After that I attended Bible College and studied Pastoral Theology, but for the last 12 years I have been doing traditional marketing for a Fortune 500 services company.

MJP: Working full-time and a part-time parent means that finding time for me is one of the biggest hurdles. How do I go about making a success of Internet Marketing with the limited time I have?

AH: The great thing about marketing online is you can do it on your couch while your kids are right by you. Much of my "quality family time" includes my laptop with some program running on it. In addition, you can do lots of work overnight when everyone else is sleeping.

MJP: Do you have dogs or cats / neither / some other pet?

AH: No pets, for me... I would forget to feed them and wake up one night with the dog or cat gnawing on my foot in starvation. :)

MJP: Which people out there would you tell people to take notice of at the moment, in the IM field?

AH: I like "Grizz" from Make Money For Beginners (See Blogroll on the side bar). He doesn't post much anymore, but his old info is golden. You can interact with him on Facebook as well. I also admire Rae Hoffman. She is a true marketer in every since of the word and she doesn't take any crap from anyone. http://www.sugarrae.com/ Court Tuttle is probably the most solid marketer out there who teaches it as well at TheKeywordAcademy.

MJP: Any you'd like to say avoid like the plague?

AH: Nah, I don't bad mouth anymore.

MJP: How quickly can you reasonably expect to make any decent sustainable money online?

AH:"decent" is an arbitrary term. To me, "decent" money is $10K per month. As far as how long it takes to get there, too many factors come into play to truly answer that. Don't look at money... instead, look at traffic. I can tell you that in a medium weighted niche, it takes a good 18-24 months to see solid traffic to your site. THAT I know for sure. Once you his 36 months of hard work, you are usually getting very good traffic that can be monetized.

MJP: Pet name for your wife? The clean one obviously! LOL

AH: baby... simple eh? :)

MJP: What's your favourite movie of all time?

AH: Glengarry Glen Rosss

MJP: Are social media methods a massive part of the Internet Marketing arsenal for building a list? Any tips for list building using social media methods?

AH: yes.... If you would have asked me 12 months ago, I would have said that true internet marketers have no business wasting time on SM. But that has changed for me. In my opinion, the gold in social media is in Twitter local. Not all communities are active on Twitter, but where I live, we are alive and vibrant and we give and get TONS of business. I don't necessarily see that translating to building a traditional marketing email list, but you can look at Twitter followers like a list if you are well targeted and you GIVE more than you GET to that list. It takes tons of time but the returns are HUGE.

MJP: Do you hang out with any fellow IM'ers? Or do you just have cyber-relationships with them, hehe?

AH: Both, but we keep our circles pretty secret.

MJP: Give me your 5 key tips to explain SEO in one short paragraph?

AH: On Page-- I am a blogger first and marketer second, and yes, you can write for search engines and humans at the same time.
If you think that's impossible, then you are selling yourself short.
Also, with on page factors, link to other articles on your site often. This is nothing new I know.
Off Page - Get links to your content. Link acquisition is a true talent/ability that few people have. Many of those who have all the knowledge still don't have the talent to make it happen. You have to be smart and methodical in your approach. It can't be a "spray and prey" mentality.

Free Tutorial Video 3: Website and Blog: Beginner's Guide to IM

Visit my YouTube channel: Martin's Online Money. Video 3 in the Beginner's Guide to Internet Marketing. Here I'm talking about setting up your website and blog. I name some of the larger companies out there that can provide you with a domain name, hosting and the prices for all of these services. You could pay a professional to design your website for around $200 depending on how complicated you want your site to be. I designed my own though on MartinJohnPrice.com using software provided by the domain company. There is a small price for the software but if money is an issue in your setting up costs then this is the cheapest way you're going to be able to build a website.

These free guides and tutorials will all be sent to subscribers in Adobe pdf format, complete with editable PLR rights. This means you can add in your own links and send on to anyone who may be looking to get started in marketing online. (Think backlink and passive traffic here...) With the audio from the YouTube videos you can make your own notes too on anything that you may want further detail on. Month 2: Buy Traffic product, Read up on SEO, Implement.

Month 2 has flown by in my Internet Marketing crusade. I paid out money to buy two products on traffic generation. One is reviewed below. The other I'll write a review on very soon. There is some great content about SEO on Hubpages that I've been reading, I also write on there as I do find it fun to pen out my thoughts. Now all that's left is to implement what I'm learning. Oh yes and I can't finish without saying I created my facebook fan page after Jo Barnes was so successful marketing hers! She got over 1000 likes in one month, awesome Jo.

TRAFFIC PRODUCT REVIEW: I have purchased a couple of products to show methods on how to get targetted traffic. One is Passive Traffic Machines by Mao Flynn. An excellent product for the money and I'm still trying to implement all of the great tips and techniques. Everyone needs passive traffic (and ultimately passive income too) otherwise you'd be glued to the screen all the time! Mao gives 13 PTMs including things like free viral software, photo marketing, twitter passive traffic and recycled traffic. There are over 100 pages of packed content with easy to follow guides to implement the methods. If you do purchase from Mao please let me know so I can start asking him for an affiliate commission ;-)

Statistics for this Internet Marketing Blog are showing a similar amount of traffic data as the first month:
221 visitors
492 page views
28.51% new visits
55.6% bounce rate

The bounce rate needs bringing down as I read somewhere that over 50% isn't good enough.

A big problem I am finding is having the time to do everything. I work full-time and am a part-time parent also, as well as the normal mundane chores that we all have to do. Anyone who has similar experiences and wants to comment on how to manage or just to tell how you're coping please reply below. As I said right at the start it's not a race. I'm still enjoying doing the work which is good. Not making money though as quickly as I'd like but isn't that always the case!

The YouTube video tutorials are going well and being viewed quite frequently. Creating the free reports is also time consuming and re-recording is too, as I like it to be just right! I am in the middle of creating the video course of Beginner's Guide to Online Internet Marketing. All of these are free presentations and are available for to those who sign up. They also come with PLR giveaway rights, and I'm going to also allow people to edit them with their own affiliate links too! This should be good for increasing your internet marketing list without even having your own product.

I'm off now to carry on with the next video tutorial and may actually type some text up on this blog too at the same time as YouTube format isn't everyone's cup of tea (coffee to our USA friends would be more applicable haha!) The next tutorial will be based around the website and blog niche area.

Beginners Guide to Internet Marketing Video 2: Products

Here's the second in the full series of Beginner's Guide to Internet Marketing videos showing the basics to get started marketing products online. The course is likely to be around 7 videos. Then future presentations will drill down into the details of Internet Marketing techniques and tips. All of these presentations will be sent to subscribers of mine, complete with PLR rights (explained in this video if you're unsure what PLR is). I have actually had a brain wave also; I'm going to send these documents to you with editable PLR rights so you can use them to send out if you're building a list yourself.

The IM business stuff first but at the very bottom is a funny story about my 3 year old learning his first joke. I am creating a free course, you may have seen Part 1 on YouTube already ( Click here if not) on Getting Started in Internet Marketing. The best bit about this though is that there are PLR rights for anyone that subscribes! PLR is Private Label Rights, but that's another lesson altogether. What it does mean though is that you will be sent the free reports and can give them away to anyone you think would find them useful. I have taken lots of time to create them and believe the content is valuable for anyone wanting to market anything on the internet.

Right then I'm off to work on Report 2 in the series. This one is all to do with the product or service that you're going to market on the internet. I'm trying to keep the video time as short as possible but there is just so much information to cram in. I may end up splitting this one into two parts too. Keep an eye out for this report on YouTube (Martin's Online Money Channel) in the coming few days.

Now for those interested, the funny joke I mentioned earlier by my 3 year old... I'll try to keep the story as short as possible. I was driving to work and started laughing to Chris Evans. Seb asks why I'm laughing and I say the man on the radio is telling a funny story. "What's he saying" Seb says. I say he's telling a funny joke. Seb says "Tell me the joke" So I start telling him... "What do you call a Spanish man that's lost his car?" and at this point Seb starts laughing... "No, wait I say, we're not finished you can't laugh yet" So I start again and then tell him the punchline... "Carlos!" He starts laughing again loads and we laugh together. The 2 year old Benjy is not so amused... "it's not funny!" Now Seb is telling everyone the joke, and telling them many times too, so I've now said we have to teach him more. Hope you enjoyed the little bit of humour!

Beginner's Guide on Internet Marketing goes live

I've been working hard on my first free marketing tutorial video and just uploaded it to my YouTube channel (Martin's Online Money is the Channel name). Check it out here: Beginner's Guide to IM. It's the basics needed to set up an internet marketing business from scratch, which in turn should lead to making money.... that's the theory anyway. It had to be re-recorded so many times as I'm not a presenter. It was great fun though and quite amusing sitting in front of the screen talking to yourself!

I have missed large bits out which is why I need to drill into more detail in future videos. I already thought the presentation was too long and will attempt to keep future ones shorter.

Some things I did miss off are the costs of setting up your internet business. Some smart cookies can do almost everything to market free, others pay out small fortunes to get it all professional and very technical looking. I am closer to free marketing than paying out lots of cash! Below I have listed the start-up costs that I have forked out. As mentioned things like the domain name, autoresponder, paypal account, are essentials. Rather than pay someone else to design your website, what I did was purchase the software and designed my website myself. It may seem difficult to the techno-phobes out there but actually if you can follow basic instructions it's not too difficult. Designing a website was time consuming but I have now learnt how to do it, and next time should therefore be a lot quicker. I will revamp them also as I get more confident with the software.

1, Domain name From $0.80 for .info (think that's correct! Seems a ridiculously low price) addresses to $30 for .co per year.
2, Aweber Autoresponder $1 for the first month then $19 per month. Discount on annual price.
3, GoDaddy Website design $4 per month. Discount on annual price.

So you can see, you can get started from around $25 - $30 per month. This is nothing considering the potential the internet has. You may also be able to make money very quickly and get this back in a short space of time so at least your costs will be covered.

Ok, what now? From this first video tutorial I am now preparing further more in-depth detailed guides on how to internet market successfully. The next presentation will probably be around the product or service you could make money from. I may stick to the gardening niche theme one that I used in the first example, I'm not sure yet.

Now back to work I suppose! I am enjoying this money making challenge though at least. Ask me again in a year to see if the fun is still there!
