ദേവാസുരത്തിലെ "വില്ലന്‍", അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ "മംഗലശ്ശേരി നീലകണ്ഠന്‍ കാലില്‍ വാരി നിലത്തടിച്ച ശത്രു", മുണ്ടയ്ക്കല്‍ ശേഖരനാണ് എന്നെനിയ്ക്ക്‌ ആ സിനിമ കണ്ടപ്പോള്‍ തോന്നിയിട്ടില്ല. അത് സവര്‍ണ്ണതയും തമ്മിലുള്ള ഒരു friendly match മാത്രം. അയാള്‍ "കാലില്‍ വാരി നിലത്തിട്ടടിയ്ക്കുന്നത്" രേവതിയുടെ കഥാപാത്രത്തിന്റെ വ്യക്തിത്വത്തെയാണ്. അയാള്‍ വെറുക്കുന്നത് അലാളുടെ സ്ഥലം ഒരു മുസ്ലീമിന് വില്‍ക്കേണ്ടി വന്ന തന്റെ "നിവൃത്തികേടി"നെയാണ്.

മംഗലശ്ശേരി നീലകണ്ഠന്‍ സവര്‍ണ്ണന്‍ മാത്രമല്ല. ലതീഷ് മോഹന്‍ എഴുതിയത് പോലെ,

All Cheating wives in Kerala does not necessarily have a drunkard husband or otherwise who can't satisfy her. Females and even males get attracted to opposite sex (specifically co-workers, whom they come in contact the most) and the mobile phones adds fuel to it. In the old days, even if people had temptations, the communication gap kept them apart. Now females are also forward, liberal and open in communication and they are so clever that not even her husband could not make out even if she flirts in his presence. The love and affection and sincerity of people had vanished in this cyber-infested world. Films are just emphasizing the present happenings and it is not the other way round. Your lover boy (or girl) will be around only until you are worth for and they will soon kick you off and your better half will be only left with for the rest of your life. Be sincere and trustworthy to your partner and to your children. There is a long way to go when you get older and worthless. So let it be male or female -- do good things so that at least you will have sweet memories to think over when you are old and bedridden.

A: I so agree and I'm glad you put it down in words. When we got out of the theatre, in the first analysis, I told my husband that the only place I felt cheated (for lack of a better word ) was that she did not go with the french guy, and also I wondered how she would feel about going back to delhi and her old life , in a completely content state of mind. But thinking it over, I now realise that 99% would eventually react only like shashi did, in the real world I mean. No matter how enlightened, how free spirited, at the end of the day, shashi's choice would be the most opted one, when faced with having to make a concrete choice or decision. I could go on about why, but I guess that's easily understandable, if we think honestly. Sad, but true.

B : We love happy endings. we believe in the crap that all is well that ends well. and then we have our own definition and interpretation for "well and happy". Things that go against the accepted social norms hardly appeals, they are better suited for discussions and debates. My family, My kids, My spouse, My parents, My language, My team, My religion, My state and then my country...all these are largely sacrosanct. we come from a society that is so fond of sacrifices. personal sacrifice, social sacrifice.....uh, numerous sacrifices. And woman as a sacrificing figure is always a role model, something so ideal- so larger than life. Are, she has one life. at least give her the chance to make it happy, in her own way. but then....she is the one who wants to be a goddess every time. She herself is not ready to accept how normal and ordinary she is, and so her desires and needs.

C: yeah! i mean, just imagin an ending in which shashi chooses to live with the man who loves her. most indians who come out of the theatre would have a block in their artery. forget 'feel good'.

Some stories are slowly coming out. News came out that Kapil Sibal 'waved' over 600 crores of fine that Reliance was to pay. Chidambaram is facing the heat now.

And another CAG report gave insight to how Reliance was given 7465 square kilometers of land where natural gas was found near Godawari, as a 'favour' from Murali Deora. "the entire block was treated as a discovery area so it remained with Reliance.." (Report here). We did not get to hear much about it on TV or in the newspapers. The Wikipedia page stands deleted.

2.ആസിഫ്‌ അലി-മൈഥിലി ദമ്പതികള്‍. വിഷ്‌ണു രമയ്‌ക്ക്‌, നിശയ്‌ക്ക്‌ ശശാങ്കന്‍, ഉമയ്‌ക്ക്‌ ഹരന്‍, ഇന്ദുമേനോന്‌ രൂപേഷ്‌ പോള്‍, നളനോര്‍ക്കില്‍ നിനക്കും എന്ന മട്ടില്‍ ചേര്‍ച്ചയുണ്ട.്‌ പക്ഷേ രണ്ടും പരമ ബോറ്‌. ഇറിറ്റേറ്റിങ്‌.

3.മിക്കവരും പറഞ്ഞ മൂപ്പന്‍ പ്രശ്‌നം. മൂപ്പന്‌ കുറച്ചു ഡയലോഗുകള്‍ നല്‍കി ഒരു കഥാപാത്രമാക്കാമായിരുന്നു. അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ മൂപ്പന്‌ സംസാരശേഷിയില്ല എന്നോ മറ്റോ പറയായിരുന്നു. കാളിദാസന്‍ പൊളിറ്റിക്കലി കറക്ട്‌ ആയ ആളൊന്നുമല്ലാത്തതുകൊണ്ട്‌ അയാള്‍ മൂപ്പനെ തട്ടിക്കൊണ്ട്‌ വന്ന്‌ കുടംബത്തില്‍ ഇരുത്തുന്നത്‌ സ്വാഭാവികം. പക്ഷേ ഫ്രെയിം അഡ്‌ജസ്റ്റ്‌ ചെയ്യാനുള്ള പ്രോപര്‍ട്ടി പോലെ വേണ്ടായിരുന്നു."

"..Few of the scenes that stand out for their innovation and/or boldness:

* Maya being a dubbing artist enables the movie to directly poke fun at the typical cliched romantic scenes found in Malayalam cinema. Maya herself is laughing at the outdated dialogues that she is told to dub. The question raised “Nammalenthaada ingane?” in the movie-within-movie is actually addressed to the whole Malayali community.

* Being a foodie, Kalidasan’s bride-seeing event at the girl’s house ends up with him instead falling in love with their resident male cook who had prepared unni-appam for the event. The cook elopes with the groom-to-be!

* I really liked the guts of the director to show a very realistic scene where Maya, Meenakshi and Mariya are celebrating new-year with booze. Maya eventually passes out drunk, lamenting about her life. Yes, we have seen intoxicated heroines in prior movies like Spadikam etc. but the intention there was solely comic relief.

* Did we witness the first ever romantic lip-to-lip kiss shown in a Malayalam mainstream movie? The director’s effort to innovatively use props like a tire-swing, a bridge across rivulet etc. to decently picturize a kissing scene that advances progressively from head to forehead to lips needs to be applauded. This historic first kiss executed in any other way probably could have be irked conservative family audience who are not used to such visuals in public. I am talking about picturization of the melodious duet “Kanamullal” composed by Bijilal and immortalised by Shreya Goshal and Ranjit.

* The audience were chuckling at the light-hearted purdah jokes that occur at the beauty parlour. Glad that it is coming from a Muslim director like Ashiq Abu himself.."

സിനിമയുടെ ആദ്യം മുതല്‍ അവസാനം വരെ എന്റെ മനസ്സില്‍ നിറഞ്ഞു നിന്ന ഒരേയൊരു ചിന്ത നല്ല പുളിയുള്ള മീന്‍കറി കൂട്ടി ചോറുണ്ണണം എന്നായിരുന്നു.." writes Saritha.

Some questions as I could not understand the logic mentioned in some points here. Can some one please enlighten me,
1. If you have a thief who steals the banana from your plot, should you wait and say "Well there are much bigger thieves who steals bigger things like gold and I should go and catch them first before banana thief" ?

2. One person is doing a fast for 10 years and no body is giving a damn there. One person lead a strike, gets the public attention(with what ever tactics he has) and got the result in weeks. Does that tell us the fact (may be ugly but true), in this neo liberal world marketing does the trick even if it is a revolution.

NOTE: I am a non-bhudhi jeevi who believes that one step of action with out any words is far better than 1000 words with out any action

Okay, you think Chidambaram and Ambani are corrupt. So? I don't see how it is related to Anna Hazare.

The comments of the so called intelligentsia is so funny. One guy asks, why is the media not caring about Sharmila? The answer is, not too many Indians care a shit about what is happening in Manipur, but do care about corruption that is affecting them on a daily basis.

For a person to fight about any issue and win accolades from the so called intelligentsia, he should
(1) Demonstrate that he is pro dalit. Irrespective of the fact that the issue at hand is orthogonal.
(2) Should show support for your favorite cause
(3) Should show he is anti-hindutva.

Idiots.
