New Rings

I made a couple of new rings this week. The Rose Quartz has a simple heart cut out of the back of it. It is a perfect Valentine gift. The Turquoise ring is a simple and beautiful ring. Both are handmade in sterling silver. Each one is hand fabricated and one of a kind. They both will be listed in my shop later tonight.

Weekend Photos

Over the weekend, we did lots of fun things including taking pictures for my 365 project. I took a lot of pictures of flowers. I love taking close-ups of them especially sunflowers. They are my favorite.

We also made Art, helped clean up an Art Installation with a dear friend, and spent some quality time together. It was a peaceful weekend. I hope you had a wonderful weekend too.

Butterflies, Pearls and Turquoise :New Work

I love butterflies.

I spotted two yesterday flying around my front yard.

Inspired by these winter butterflies that I am blessed to see in Florida, I made this necklace to remind you of their beauty and yours.

Like butterflies, we are all unique and beautiful in our own way. These butterflies represent wisdom, spiritual insight and each person's unique beauty.

Turquoise and Flowers are one of my favorite combinations.

Inspired by the beautiful turquoise stone, I created this blossom flower necklace in sterling silver. The setting is completely handmade and decorated with a sterling silver flower. The elegant and simple blossom rests on the side of the setting. The pretty blue turquoise is set in the handmade bezel. It is a beautiful piece of Artwork for you to wear.

Flowers represent to me your own unique beauty. Each flower is different and one of a kind.

Turquoise is a great gift for a friend or loved one.

If given as a gift, it is said to bring good fortune and protect them from negative energy.

Turquoise carries great wisdom for you. It is an ancient stone and is said to take on the wearer's strengths.

I made a few other necklaces that will be listed in the shop this weekend.

New Year...Imagine the possibilities

I hope you a settling into the new year and the routine of your days. It took me all this week to get used to our routine again.

It's been tough after a nice two weeks off with the little one. I enjoyed my time with her.

With the New Year comes resolutions.

Little bit came home from school yesterday with her New Years resolution. It was to ride her bike without my help. Her resolution will go perfectly with mine. I don't usually do resolutions (I never have), but this year I wanted to try to take the time to notice the little things more and appreciate them. And I have decided to embark on another 365 project, but this time it is a photo a day instead of the crazy RING A DAY. This project will go perfectly with my intention of enjoying each day more. I will try to take my camera with me more often. It tends to sit in my studio ready to take pictures of jewelry. My photos will be posted on my flickr page.

So to kick off our resolutions, we went for a walk last night. I walked with my camera in hand, she rode. We made progress. I only helped with a push up the hills (of Florida) about half the time. I took pictures. I got a few I was happy with. She was happy with riding her bike. It was a lovely time.

Solstice

When you walk into Solstice, you are taken into a peaceful winter wonderland.

The experience is one of a kind. The energy in the room is amazingly calming.

These artists have a gift to transform a space into such a quiet and inspiring place.

Birds are chirping and you can't help but want to stay for a very long time.

Every tiny detail is magical.

This amazing Art installation was created by Saori, Yanuary Navarro, and Gregory Dirr along with many other artists. It is completely made of recycled materials. And it is beautiful!

It will only be up through Saturday and then a new Art Installation will be up by January 14th! If you haven't already, you must stop by Olio Gallery on Saturday!!!

Shop Preview:The Mermaid's Necklace and Ocean-Inspired earrings

Inspired by the sea in which the larimar stone is found I created this necklace to showcase this stunning stone. Larimar is said to be a very powerful stone. It is often called the Dolphin or Atlantis stone. It is found only in one place in the world in the Carribean sea. It is a beautiful blue and white. Larimar is believed to facilitate inner wisdom, channel healing energies, and brings calm to the wearer. It is also said to draw one's soulmate. This Larimar stone is a beautiful and a mystical stone.

This stone is beautiful. If you look closely, you can see a heart and a butterfly in the patterns of the stone. This is one of a kind. I created a chain of turquoise, pearls and aquamarine to compliment the larimar. The setting is handmade. I accented the bezel with tiny circles to remind you of bubbles from the ocean. The back has bubbles on it also.

Every drop in the ocean counts.

This past week I also created some simple earrings for the shop. I used sterling silver circles and ovals that I made and added Kyanite and Labradorite drops to them. They are great everyday earrings.

All of these pieces should be listed in the shop soon.

Butterfly Seekers

Yesterday, we walked over to the Sunken Gardens with my camera in hand. I really wanted to try to take some pictures of the amazing flowers that I had seen there a couple of weeks ago and look for butterflies. We walked over to my favorite spot and found these beautiful creatures. Some were in full bloom and a few were getting ready to blossom. I took lots of photos as "Little Bit" wanted to go out and look for the butterflies.

I took a few more pictures of these amazing flowers while she pleaded with me to look for the butterflies.

And then she saw one!

They were flying all around. She was so excited. We tried so hard to catch a picture of one of the beautiful ones as they whipped past us, but they kept flying high above us to the beautiful bouganvillia's. So I decided to try to get a picture of them up high.

After trying to catch a picture of the butterflies we walked around the rest of the Gardens and found some amazing flowers and beautiful ferns. The Gardens are so peaceful and calming. We could have spent hours there. It is an inspiring place.

I saw a butterfly on my walk last night with my daughter.

They have been on my mind often lately. I wasn't sure if they were still around here in Florida, because it had gotten a little cooler...but I spotted one! Now I am going to be on the look-out for them.

They represent change and the beauty within. They represent the soul.

Dali Museum

Today we visited the Dali Museum. It is an amazing place full of inspiration in every corner. The building and the grounds are beautiful. And the Artwork inside is unexplainable. It is so powerful. I need to visit this Museum more often than once or twice a year. I love that it is here in St Petersburg!

We went on a "treasure hunt" to find specific paintings. They have a special packet for kids to make it fun for them. We had to walk through the Museum twice, because we missed a few of them. I really enjoyed looking for those paintings and so did my daughter.

She thought it was a wonderful adventure.

And this is the view from inside looking out onto the water.

Outside is a wishing tree. After you visit the museum, you can attach your bracelet that they give you (for entry) onto the tree. It is quite pretty blowing in the wind.

It was a spur of the moment decision to go and I am so happy that we did. We were driving by on the way home from the beach and decided to go. We had windblown hair and sand on our toes, but we had a wonderful time.

Holiday Window in the Crislip Arcade!

The Holidays are almost here! I can't believe it. Time flies by. A few of my neighbors in the Arcade have their windows already done. I am still in the planning stages of mine. I have an idea and I hope it turns out nicely. They have to be done by Saturday! If you are local, you must stop by this weekend. Saturday night is the gallery walk and Holiday Windows unveil for the entire 600 Block and Central Arts District! It should be a fun Gallery Walk!

If you aren't local, I will take lots of pictures this weekend and post them here on Sunday or Monday!

Beach Finds

I am enjoying fall in Florida! I get to go to the beach and sit and sort through thousands of shells. I am so inspired by the shells and I love to add to my collection. Last weekend I forgot to bring my camera though. But I had my phone and got a couple of pictures of the thousands of shells at the beach.

And then I took pictures of my finds when I got home.

A friend of mine has been asking for some shells for a while now. I am going to finally surprise her with a bag of them.

October Blog Topic: favourite season? (and why?)

Spring, Summer, Winter, and Fall.

I love all the seasons. It's hard to choose a favorite. I don't know if I can pick.

But if I have to choose, I love the spring. I love seeing the flowers in bloom. In Florida flowers bloom almost all year though...so I love seeing them throughout the year.

The summers in Florida are nice too.

They are very hot, but you can swim in the ocean which is wonderful!

The water here is almost always crystal clear and you can see your feet and fish swimming by. I have seen sting rays swimming along the waters edge before which was such an amazing site to see.

Most of you know that I spent 11 years in Southwest Colorado. The seasons are quite different there than here in Florida.

In Colorado I loved the summers. The weather was perfect and I could go on hikes and look for the beautiful wildflowers.

The flowers were amazing in the summer.

But the summer was short and before I knew it...it was be fall and then winter again.

In the fall the aspen would change to their beautiful golden colors and they would jingle in the wind. It was a wonderful site to see and hear! As soon as fall began, winter would be quickly around the corner and it would start snowing.

Winter in Colorado was magical.

I can remember the amazing quiet of hearing the snow fall.

The calm of the winter was comforting. I would love to sit by the window drinking my hot chocolate and watching the big snowflakes slowly fall.

To hear the snow fall is magical.

In Florida I love the fall and winter also. I love spending time at the beach and searching for small treasures in the sand. The beaches are not too crowded...sometimes you get to explore them by yourself and enjoy a quiet windy day listening to the waves crash in.

Ring a Day Book

When I received my Ring a Day book a few weeks ago, I was so thrilled to finally have it in my hands and flip through it. I love it. It is amazing to look through and revisit my journey through Ring a Day with my metalsmithing friends. It is so wonderful to see all the rings together. There are so many of my favorite ones in it.

And the inside cover has my Sea Urchin Ring! I'm so excited.

The layout is fun. It is a very inspiring book.

As many of you know, Ring a Day was a project that I participated in. It was a great group of jewelers on Flickr who made a ring a day for the entire year of 2010. The rings could be made from anything and creativity was encouraged. Over 16,000 photos were posted to the RAD group on flickr.

The Ring a Day book has 700 photos. It is a wonderful selection of the rings from the project.

I love Turquoise and Labradorite.

Turquoise reminds me of the Southwest and my time living there.

I love the beautiful colors of each stone.

Each one is so unique. The stones look like mini landscapes.

And the Labradorite just seems magical with it's flash of color.

I created a vine to wrap around the stone. The setting is completely made by hand with sterling and fine silver. I placed one small blossom on it's side.

In Japan cherry blossoms are held in the highest esteem. As the season of cherry blossoms blooming are so short, cherry blossoms represent the beautiful, but transient nature of our lives.

Wear this tiny blossom to remind you of what is important to you in your world and to take the time to look at the flowers.

This necklace I made for a lady to represent her four daughters.

I just love that she wanted four little daisies all in a row.

This is one of my favorite custom pieces.

And this necklace is a simple cherry blossom necklace.

Earrings to match.

And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.

Swings Pictures

Swings Tampa Bay is a spontaneous community building organization. They hang handmade Swings all over Tampa Bay.

I have been to two of the Swings events and painted swings with my daughter. We kept one swing and have left 3 to be hung around the Tampa Bay area. I wonder where they ended up?

We have happened upon swings around downtown ourselves and had so much fun swinging in them. Sometimes I get to swing too!!

I went for a walk this morning.

I love the pink in the bromeliad. I think it's my favorite.

Trunk Show at Davidson-Cassell

I love Labradorite in case you haven't noticed.

I love the amazing splash of colors that they have.

The stones seem mystical to me.

And I am drawn to them when I see them.

Labradorite is said to help you find your spiritual wisdom and intuition.

And butterflies. I love them too.

They are quite magical.

Butterflies are said to represent change and inner beauty.

I like them to remind you of your beauty inside and out.

I created this necklace in sterling silver and fine silver.

The setting is completely made by hand.

On the back of the labradorite necklace I added a pretty little butterfly. The butterfly is to remind you that you are beautiful.

This Labradorite in this ring is especially beautiful. It is taken though. I made it for someone very special for her birthday. I wanted to show it to you. I hope she receives it today. It has a hidden butterfly on it also.

I also made some simple drop earrings with labradorite beads.

And I made these simple butterfly earrings and necklace that are pictured below.
