In my opinion, the higher management should not handle its staffs the same way as it is to handle clients/customers. Not only it irks its staffs, it gives the staffs the impression that the higher management is pacifying them. If not, bullshitting them the same way they do to 'shun' off difficult clients...

time money energy

i feel that my excess time should be converted into cash. Excess is somewhat subjective given my current job. But with proper time management i believe that the little extra time can still be converted into small streams of income to fund other stuffs.

Falling back to teaching for teaching is still, nevertheless, the easiest to earn extra income.

Practical wisdom

Do u love your job?

One simple question with a myriad of different answers. Regardless of what your answer may be, it's no doubt at some point of our lives, we asked ourselves, what exactly is the source of such abhorrence? Why is that so and why is it that way?

I have contemplated of such and managed to group and categorized them into different sets. In short, such annoyances could be due to rules and regulations, or it could be of circumstances, not to forget, also due to colleagues and staffs too.

Be it what your answer is, my stand is we should try our very best to understand the reason and rationale behind every action. Only by understanding then can we tackle such discomforts at work.

While it is not my intention to list and elaborate the various possible reasons, at least not today, I do have one solution to solve it all. It is practical wisdom.

Practical wisdom allows one to have insights so as to make a better decisions. It also gives a sense of direction to influence better judgement so as to maintain a better and harmonious working environment.

There was a case in Illinois where the sole bread winner was forced to commit a crime so as to bring food on the table for the family. If the judge had followed case law and mete out similar punishment, then the man's family will suffer too. It'd not be a "fair" punishment for his family will suffer too.

As such, another judgement was passed instead. The man is to be employed as a locksmith in the day and serve his sentence at night.

Alas, this doesn't mean we should uphold our definition of justice. Or worst of all, render any forms of justice, we feel is appropriate. Should we not have any judiciary power to mete out and pass judgement, we would have then render injustice.

Drawing a close to this discussion, rules are dead. It's us, humans to take rules as a guide so as to better our environment. Yet that is true, we must still go thru the proper channels to ensure conformity of rules and restrictions.

Why we should not work in where we are working?

i was watching my usual TED talks and came across this awesome speaker by the name Jason Fried. He mentioned a few good pointers so i thought it will be good that i summarized it for those who are leading a heretic lifestyle like me.

On the whole, Jason Fried mentioned that Meetings and Managers are nothing but a waste of time. Meetings waste time and resources because, assuming a meeting of ten person for an hour, it's not a meeting of 1 hr but 1 X 10 hr of valuable time by others who attend the meeting. Meetings should be instead, replaced by 5 to 10 mins of conversation between the respective parties with regards to a particular issue.

Likewise, managers whose work is to interrupt others to find out the progress of the work being done. This is bad because working is similar to sleep where it is divided into different stages. No one can snap into the fullest concentration on work at once. Rather from the mental aspect, we will work through different work phases before reaching the most efficient and effective stage. Unfortunately, we are often interrupted by distractions, ie emails, phone calls, tap on the shoulders...

Coining the 2 'items' together, it's called M&Ms (meetings and managers) which are poisonous things that disrupt work. We could however have solutions such as, No Talk Thursdays, using office message services or even cancel meetings to greatly improve our working effectiveness and efficiency.

At the end of the day, all will be fine, and for that, who needs M&Ms?

Allergies

It's a year of allergies.

I began my lunar year, by firstly, having a secondary degree infection due to an henna 'injury'. It's a wound with weeping pus, largely due to scratchings (because of itchiness) and delayed treatment for allergy. Well, i was given some medication but it wasn't much effective. This mentioned medication was changed and prescribled to me on the second visit, of which, it's of a stronger and more powerful drug.

Everything was fine. But on the day 5 of the course of antibiotics, i start to develop red little things on my arms, and sparsely on the rest of my body. Well, i discontinued the course of antibiotics and that goes without saying. I am not sure if it's due to the drug's concentration, or is it some allergy which i do not know of. In any case, on the packaging it was printed:

STOP MEDICATION IF DEVELOP RASHES

Accidentally, i scratched part of my wound and it was inflamed a little with a slight watery discharge. From what my doctor and Internet taught me, it's due to the broken of the first layer of skin. Thus it's the body's way of patching up.

6:40 am. Here i am blogging it down because i cant sleep. Likewise, i have applied some medicated cream in high hopes that this will ease the itch. (Of which it did, i think)

I am now going to wait for the clinic and i will drop by to consult the doctor, yet again.

Time

Time is elusive.

It is intangible and flows ever so silently. Just when u least expected it, it whizzed past u, leaving u in regrets sometimes.

Yet on another hand, when u are awaiting for results, you will find time unbearable, torturous and painful a process to get by.

I was unlucky (or perhaps lucky, if u see it from another perspective) to be bestowed with a 2 days MC.

I feel that 2 days of mc is insufficient for my healing process. It's a wound with weeping pus. It, ultimately, poses much inconvenience.

Yet lucky because I figured that it should be of nothing serious.

And so I used the precious 2 days to settle things I long to do for the longest time I can imagine. Feels good and reminisced of student days. The freedom and luxury of having the fullest energy, physically and mentally to fulfill anything on my mind. The number of times I glanced at my clock, or anything that tells time, is lesser than the fingers of one hand.

Alas, I cannot imagine myself carrying on like this for a week, or even longer.

Coming to the end of my 2 days of liberty, I asked myself, how would u choose if u can turn back back time?
