OTTAWA – The bill of materials for Apple’s new IPhone 5 comes in at an estimated $167.50 for the 16-Gb version, or about $35 higher than a comparable version of the IPhone 4S, according to a preliminary estimate by the tear down specialists at TechInsights.

The preliminary analysis by TechInsights, which is owned by UBM, the publisher of EE Times, is based on initial information about the IPhone 5 that was released by Apple in San Francisco on Wednesday (Sept. 12). The IPhone 5, which is scheduled to go on sale Sept. 21, is expected to sell for about $199 for the 16-Gb version.

TechInsight analysts also based their estimates on previous versions of 16-Gb IPhones, including the known features and cost of components for the IPhone 4 and 4S.

The iPhone Dev Team is happy to announce a baseband downgrade option in redsn0w for those who are using the iPad’s 06.15 baseband on the iPhone3G or iPhone3GS.

Typically you’d have the 06.15 baseband if you unlock with ultrasn0w but updated your iPhone baseband past 05.13.04. With this new capability, you can now downgrade specifically from 06.15 to 05.13.04 (even if you never had 05.13.04 on that device before). This gives you the best of both worlds: ultrasn0w compatibility and a normal iPhone baseband with full GPS and the ability to use stock IPSWs again.

Here are the steps that will be used:

Use the “Extras-> Select IPSW” button in redsn0w to tell it which firmware version you have installed (new-bootrom 3GS users can usually skip this step but it doesn’t hurt for them to do it too).Do a controlled shutdown of your iPhone (“slide to power off”). This step is very important to avoid mount problems when the ramdisk is running! Go back to the first screen and click “Jailbreak”. Enable the “Downgrade from iPad baseband” checkbox, disable Cydia if you already have it installed, and click Next proceed through the normal DFU ramdisk steps.

After the ramdisk gets launched and you see the running Pwnapple, you’ll eventually get to the “Flashing Baseband” step. THIS STEP TAKES A VERY LONG TIME to complete and there won’t be any feedback while its running. Please just let it be for the next 3-8 minutes! When the ramdisk has done its job it will reboot the phone on its own.

For those who are wondering if you can update your 3G or 3GS to 06.15 solely for the purposes of downgrading to 05.13.04, the answer is “yes” for 3G owners, and “maybe” for 3GS owners. The iPad baseband is not compatible with 3GS units manufactured week 34 of 2011 or later. If you have an iPhone3GS and if digits 3-5 of its Serial Number are 134 or later (xx134…), then you should NOT try to install the 06.15 baseband on your 3GS! It will brick your radio, preventing both the downgrade from working and normal iPhone software from using it as a phone!Be warned!

Earlier this week we told you that The famous Dev Team member known as @MuscleNerd had made some really good progress on an iPhone 3G / 3GS baseband 06.15.00 downgrading solution.

How To install iOS 6 beta Without Apple Developer Account

As Apple company makes pretty strict limitations on who can install iOS betas. So the only legal way for you to install iOS betas is to get your Unique Device Identifier or UDID registered as an iOS developer. UDIDead tool frees you from need to obtain the official iOS developer account (which costs $99/year) by simply adding a custom bundle from redsn0w.

How to install iOS 6 Beta without UDID Activation

Step 1: First you need to Download iOS 6 beta and update your iDevice to iOS 6 beta using latest version of iTunes. Unfortunately there is no iPad 1st gen support for the newest iOS 6. When done download iOS 5.1.1 Download links for iOS 5.1.1 are available at felixbruns.de that will be used to activate iOS 6 letter.

Step 2: Download the latest version of redsn0w 0.9.12b2 - Win or Mac . Then you need to run it from terminal (Mac)or command prompt (Win) using the -S* argument (please make sure you are using the capital S letter).

Step 5: Now using redsn0w, click on ‘Jailbreak‘ button and just simply follow the instructions. You will need to enter DFU mode, then wait until presented with the option to select a custom bundle. When given the option, browse for the UDIDead bundle you just downloaded and click ‘Next’.

Step 6: After redsn0w has finished, your device will reboot. Now just activate your iDevice using the latest version of iTunes which you can download at Apple web site.

And that’s it. Now you know how to install iOS 6 without Developer account and UDID registration. And notice that it was for free. So share this essential info and give other hackers the possibility to find exploits for future iOS 6 jailbreak or test apps for iOS apps developers.

How to Use Gevey Sim on iOS 5.1.1 iPhone 4

Step 1. After successful restoring you need to eject your Sim and reboot iPhone.
Step 2. After rebooting go to Settings => General => Network and turn off 3G and Cellular data.
Step 3. Take your Sim card and insert it with Gevey Sim in iPhone 4.
Step 4. When Accept screen appears tap Accept.
Step 5. After accepting you will see No Service. Don’t worry and wait for 15-20 seconds and dial 112, wait for 1-2 seconds and hang up.
Step 6. Now you need to turn on Airplay mode and till message No Sim Card Installed pops up and turn Airplay mode off. Now you must see Sim Failure so tap OK and your iPhone should connect to your network.
