Everyone should know "The Ten" is great. Really great. It reminded me a lot of "The State" with a hint of "Mr. Show". It was not like "Wet Hot American Summer" or "Stella" and yet it was still great.

Comedy Crush - The Lonely Island

Since 'Hot Rod' comes out today I thought this might be relevant.
Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccome grew up together in Berkley, CA. They met in junior high stayed palls through high school, then went their separate ways for college. Essentially they all went to film school then reunited in LA in 2001 to form The Lonely Island with other palls, Chester Tam and Jonah Goldstein.
The Lonely Island's first, most notable production was 'The Bu', an OC parody made for Channel 101. 'The Bu' went on to be the second longest running show on 101. They made a bunch of music videos, shorts and pilots which brought them enough attention that they were hired by SNL, Andy as a player and Akiva and Jorma as writers. The Lonely Island brought 'SNL digital shorts' to SNL, which is currently its saving grace.
The Lonely Island was commissioned by MTV and Fox to come up with a sketch show but neither pilot was picked up.
Today 'Hot Rod' premiers, starring Andy and Jorma, and directed by Akiva.
The Lonely Island has been an inspiration to many young comedic filmmakers, proving that if you make a ton of funny videos (which have celebrity cameos) and draw enough attention to your website you can earn your keep as a short filmmaker.

Comedy Crush - Paul Rudd

Since I said I would, I guess I will.
Paul Stephen Rudd was born on April 6th 1969 in Passaic, New Jersey but really grew up in Overland Park, Kansas. He was born to two Brits, his mother a manager at a television station and his father worked for the airlines.
Paul graduated from University of Kansas with a theater degree and continued his theater studies in LA and London. In 1992 he got his first TV role on 'Sisters', where he played Ashley Judds boyfriend. He stayed on the show till 1995, when he got the part of Alecia Silverstone's poli-brother in "Clueless". Since, he has done a bunch of theater, a grip of TV appearances(like Friends)and a slew of movies(like Romeo+Juliet).
But in 2001 great things started happening for Paul. He made "Wet Hot American Summer" which solidified his relationship with David Wain. They made a few Stella Shorts together and now Paul is a producer of "The Ten". Paul made friends with Judd Apatow in 2004 on Anchorman and they have since made two other great films together. Paul has also done some great indies like "The Baxter" and "Reno 911: Miami".

Lawrence Gene David, born in 1947 in Brooklyn only to become a sworn in west-coaster. He graduated from University of Maryland in 1971 with a degree in history and business. Until the launch of Seinfeld in 1989, he performed stand up, wrote for ABC's Friday and briefly wrote for SNL. In 89 Larry and Jerry wrote the pilot for Sienfeld and to Larry's dismay the show got picked up and become one of the greatest shows in TV history. Larry is said to be the inspiration for George and he also did the voice of Steinbrenner. In 2000 he premiered Curb Your Enthusiasm which has been a critical success. The series will continue for a 6th season albeit claims. Larry also wrote and directed a feature film "Sour Grapes" but it was none too good.

The only living human who can blend left-wing politics and dick-and-fart jokes. Well done sir. A Georgia native who spent one year at Emerson before pursuing stand up. Got his break on the Jon Stewart Show in the early 90's where he met Bob Odenkirk, his long time writing partner. They gave us Mr. Show, probably the best thing to happen to sketch comedy since...it was conceived. Later he stared in arguably the greatest TV show ever, Arrested Development. He has made documentaries, features, animation and a slew of records. He is now touring and making a load of appearances on the Colbert Report.
