Coffee Table

An empty mug; A plate with a yoghurt lid and an apple core; a beanie; an egg carton (WTF?!); a deck of cards; a supermarket receipt and a Zingo game.

That is what I see on the coffee table right now.

I’ve cleared this table already once today.

Can you say hot spot?

Housewifey Goals

I don’t REALLY want to be a perfect housewife. But there are a ~~few~~ lots of things that I can work on to make this household run more smoothly.

Things like:

menu planning – It seems everyone and anyone is participating in Org Junkie’s Menu Plan Monday so maybe that’s what I need to help me.
bulk cooking – we have a big freezer there that we don’t make proper use of. And I want to be organised enough to bake the kids’ school snacks so we don’t need to buy them.
wake up earlier so I can get a head start before the rest of the family get up.
stick to a budget – one of my major goals for 2011.
organise – need to majorly decrapify (saw that word on some blog somewhere and loved it!), and have a place for everything.
start a vegie garden – so we can not only eat our own vegies but also reducing the money we spend on fresh produce.

I’m sure I’ll think of more later but I think this list will keep me busy.

Oh, the horror!

I was meant to find a pen and the car registration papers in the mess! Oh, and the scrap bit of paper that I wrote the dog groomer’s phone number on.

I was dreading tackling this….can’t call it a filing cabinet because nothing was filed. Maybe a cram-it-all-in cabinet?

But I got stuck into it, tipped everything out of the top drawer that is only meant to hold pens and stationery, and tamed the paper monster that was the bottom drawer.

Took me a good hour or so but it looks SO much better now.

Unfortunately the car registration papers weren’t in there.

Welcome to Housewife Hiccups – the blog where I will confirm all suspicions that I am NOT a great cook and I’m NOT as organised as some would believe.

I blame Anthea Turner. Her and her How To Be A Perfect Housewife book (not a paid link). That book somehow found itself on my bookshelf and has taunted me for months. If HTBAPH (as it will be known from now on because I’m too lazy to type out the whole title every time I refer to it) could talk, it would be asking if I planned to dust any time soon.

So this here is the chronicle of one woman’s journey to become the perfect housewife. *snort* Perfect. Hehe.
