The Carolina Panthers defeated the Miami Dolphins 23 – 17 in the second week of the 2012 preseason. Cam Newton got off to a much stronger start in his second preseason game. Newton completed eight passes on 11 attempts for 119 yards and one touchdown. DeAngelo Williams had a nice game with four carries for 25 yards and a 6.3 yards per carry average. Newcomer Mike Tolbert had a solid game with three carries for 15 yards with a 5.0 yard rushing average and he also had one reception for 14 yards. Unfortunately, Mike Tolbert did have one fumble in the game, but I don't expect that to be a issue come regular-season. The Panthers defense was much improved from the first preseason game. The Panthers rush defense held Miami to just 37 yards rushing. Rookie cornerback Josh Norman also looked very solid in his preseason debut. The Miami Dolphins chose not to throw it his way because of his solid pass protection. If Josh Norman is able to maintain his current level of play he should end up as the week one starter opposite Chris Gamble.

The Carolina Panthers next outing is against the New York Jets at New York. The game will be played on Sunday, August 26 at 8 PM Eastern time on NBC.

Carolina Panthers 2012 Kicking Competition

The Carolina Panthers have a fierce kicking competition currently involving the punters and kickers. The kickers are incumbent Olindo Mare and former CFL star Justin Medlock. The two punters are rookie out of Wisconsin Brad Nortman and 12 year veteran Nick Harris. Both kicking competitions should come to a conclusion by the end of the preseason.

Justin Medlock has been more consistent on deep field goals compared to Olindo Mare however, Olindo Mare has been better on kickoffs. During the last preseason game against the Houston Texans Justin Medlock had a kickoff fall 10 to 15 yards short of the end zone which led to the Texans kickoff return for a touchdown. Olindo Mare performed better on kickoffs with the ball sailing deep in the end zone mostly resulting in touchbacks. Even though Medlock had a bad kickoff during the Texans game he was consistently kicking the ball 5+ yards deep in the end zone during the most recent practice sessions which is a very positive sign. Ideally I would prefer Medlock win the kicking competition considering Mare missed multiple long field goals last year that caused the Panthers to lose a couple games. Justin Medlock is much better at long field goals. Also Justin Medlock has a much friendlier salary cap number which is always a plus.

As for the punters, rookie Brad Nortman has looked very good. His kicks are long and with a lot of hang time. He has also been working hard in camp at his directional kicking. Nick Harris, a free-agent signing by the Panthers during the off-season, is also battling Nortman for the position. At this time, it is definitely Nortman's position to lose. I would expect Brad Nortman to win the competition considering he was drafted in the sixth round of the NFL draft and he has youth on his side. The Carolina Panthers face the Miami Dolphins tonight August 17 at 8 PM EST on Fox. Tune in to see if anyone gets a leg up in the kicking competition.

<category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="Capt.

One of the big position battles for the Carolina Panthers in 2012 is at the CB position. The players that are in this competition are Captain Munnerlyn, Brandon Hogan, and Josh Norman. Captain Munnerlyn has been the starter but the Panthers are looking to move him to nickelback. Ideally the Panthers would prefer either Brandon Hogan or Josh Norman to win the starting job because Captain Munnerlyn is a undersized corner to be a starter. Currently Captain Munnerlyn has been working with the first-team because Brandon Hogan and Josh Norman have been injured.

Brandon Hogan was drafted in the 2011 NFL draft in the fourth round out of West Virginia. He slid to the fourth round in the draft because he had a knee injury but his potential is very high if he can stay healthy. Brandon Hogan only participated in a couple games last year with zero starts. Brandon Hogan has been held out of almost all of the off-season activities this year because he has been recovering slowly from knee injury. I would consider him a long shot to win the starting job however, I expect him to be a solid contributor during the 2012 campaign.

Josh Norman was selected in the fifth round of the 2012 NFL draft out of Coastal Carolina. He was considered a top prospect coming out of the NFL draft, so his potential is great. During practice on August 14 Josh Norman had four interceptions which showcases his potential. He possesses the size to be NFL starter unlike Captain Munnerlyn. Tonight August 17 against the Miami Dolphins Josh Norman has an opportunity to participate in his first NFL preseason game. Captain Munnerlyn will start the game but Josh Norman should get multiple opportunities to show if he is ready to be a NFL starter.

Overall I am very excited to see how this competition plays out. In my opinion I believe Josh Norman will win the starting job because he possesses the size and ball hawking skills that are required to be a starter in the NFL. Tonight's preseason game against the Miami Dolphins should give us a glimpse if this will become a reality. If you are in the local market you can watch the Panthers preseason game tonight August 17 against the Miami Dolphins at 8 PM EST on Fox.
Devastating hits are helmet to helmet hits that often result in a player getting a concussion. The league recently fined James Harrison $75,000 Dunta Robinson $50,000 and Brandon Meriweather $50,000. The league said starting Sunday the 24th they would also start suspending players for devastating hits. As far as I am concerned I think the league it treading on then ice. They fined these players excessive amounts without any warning. Brandon Meriweather's game check is for around $32,000 a game so fining him more than a game check without warning is crazy. I do agree he should have been fined especially for his second hit against Ravens receiver Todd Heap who was defenseless. Meriweather's hit was late and unnecessary but worst of all he went helmet to helmet. I think the league should definitely be harsh against a hit like this however it was Meriweather's first offense so you have to be stern but be able to give someone a second chance to correct what they were doing. The other hits in question were Harrison's and Robinson's which I felt both were clean. Robinson lead with his shoulder and his helmet slid up slightly which can and will happen. There was no intent to hurt the player Eagles star receiver DeSean Jackson. His fine of $50,000 is excessive since he has never been fined for any such contact before. He will be appealing the leagues decision. James Harrison is a repeat offender though I feel the hits he had against the Browns were legal. His $75,000 dollar fine is the highest fine I recall seeing for any hit. He decided to sit out of practice today Wednesday the 20th to consider possible retirement do to the leagues sudden policy change. From what I have gathered most players feel this is a bad and abrupt change to the game. Surprisingly the people on the receiving end of these hits the offensive players were the first people to jump to the defense of the defenders. I understand player safety I am all for that but this is something you review after the season and not make a sudden change in the middle of the season giving players no time to adapt to the new and ultimate game changing policy. At the end of the day to me it is football which is a violent game and these hard hits do happen. Don't take away from what has made this game so special. At the same time there is no room in the NFL for hits like Meriweather's hit on a defenseless player and those are the type of hits that must be met with punishment and not the ones by Dunta Robinson and James Harrison. The NFL needs to tread more carefully on this subject and get the players input since they are the ones putting there body's on the line and not Roger Goodell which by his body of work as commissioner has seemed nothing short of a power hungry executive trying to rob the players and the fans of everything they have loved about football.

Back and Better Than Ever

I took a very long break due to job and life situation but now I am back and am ready to commit to putting more and better articles than I have before. I will be writing about anything from politics to sports, and anything else inbetween. Also I would love to hear any and all feedback on what I can do to make things better and if you see a article you like or dislike just leave a comment and say whatever is on your mind. I am gonna post things about what I like but I also would like to get your imput on things you would like to hear about and be updated about. Do you wanna know where the best vaction spots are or could you care less and would rather know about your favorite football team? Would you like to know the Dow is down 50 points or the Yankees go down 2-1 against the Rangers? The Panthers forced 6 turnovers against the Cardinals and 5 were INT's. The defense looked very strong putting pressure on the Cards all day and Kurt Warner must still be having nightmares about Julius Peppers. Peppers had multiple pressures 1 sack and 1 interception for a touchdown. The Panthers offense was lead by a strong running attack with Stewart and Williams rushing for 245 yards and 2 touchdowns combined. Jake Delhomme had a pedestrian game throwing 7 of 14 for 90 yards and 1 touchdown. The bright spot is Delhomme didn't throw any picks. I feel the Panthers need to make a change at the quarterback position but head coach John Fox is set in his ways and will not make a change. Matt Moore got a few snaps when Jake went down with a injury but was never really given a chance to show what he could do. They only allowed him to throw the ball 1 time and hand off at least 8 times. The Panthers will face the New Orleans Saints this Sunday in a important division game. The Saints are undefeated and look very strong. I am going to make a bold statement. I guarantee the Panthers will defeat the Saints. The Panthers defense looks very impressive and the running game is hitting on all cylinders. The passing game is pretty weak but the Panthers are going to only ask Delhomme to manage the game and I think he will be able to do that. Almost every analyst gives the Panthers no chance to win and are over looking them as the team to knock off the Saints and the Saints may do the same as well. If that is the case and they are looking ahead on the schedule it will be a long day for the Saints. Stay tuned for more Panthers information and I will post any major injuries if they come up.

FREE 1-Year License of Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 Available to Windows 7 Launch Party Hosts & Attendees

Here is another awesome giveaway available to celebrate Windows 7 public launch. After I go over who is available I will give my percentage of a possible deal. The first possibly is Brady Quinn the quarterback of the Cleveland Browns. He started the year as the starter and ended up on the bench after a few games. The job was practically handed to him by the coaching staff and he failed to run with his opportunity. He just barely had a 60% completion percentage 1 TD and 3 INT's. Cleveland says they are not shopping him though how truthful teams are about trades. The real problem is the asking price and is there a team willing to step up and give what is necessary for the deal to go through. The next possible player up for grabs is Terrell Owens. So far this season Owens has produced next to nothing for the Buffalo Bills which has put him on the hot seat. For the season he has 12 grabs for 202 yards and 1 touchdown. Those are said numbers compared to a former teammate of his on the Dallas Cowboys Miles Austin who in a single game had 10 catches for 250 yards and 2 touchdowns. Granted those numbers aren't the norm for any player but I am just showing how his season performance is very lackluster compared to other wide receivers single game numbers. Owens was only signed to a one year deal so the Bills may try and trade him and take whatever they can get. His salary is around 4 to 5 million dollars which would come off the books in a trade plus you can get a mid round draft pick which is very tempting. While Terrell Owens is a big name receiver for the Bills don't be surprised if Roscoe Parrish gets traded. John Clayton analyst for ESPN.com has reported he could be the more likely receiver traded once the trade deadline dust settles. I have also heard ramblings that Julius Peppers could possibly be traded. When Peppers is on his A game he is one of the best defensive ends in all of football. He has freakish skills which makes it hard to compare him to any other lineman. Peppers is counting 17 million against the cap for the Panthers which equates to 1 million dollars a game which is currently suffocating the teams cap and it may be time to let him go and build for the future. The Panthers have needs at other positions but it is next to impossible to fill them because of the cap limits. The asking price for him has currently been to high for any team to make a offer but the Panthers may be more flexible with there team struggling. Now it is time for my final thoughts. When all is said in done the trading deadline will more than likely come and go without much noise being made. Brady Quinn was a first round draft pick for the Browns not too far back and I feel they are not ready to part ways with him at the moment and I also doubt any team will be able to give Cleveland what they want in return for him. Chance of Trade: 15%. Now we move on to Terrell Owens. Though I think the Bills are ready to part ways with him I don't think it will happen. There is a lot of baggage with him and with only this year left on his contract I think teams may be more than content to let him stay and maybe offer him a deal next year for a much lower price if he does not improve his numbers. Chance of Trade: 25%. As for his teammate Roscoe Parrish I think he is the most likely out of all the players being talked about anywhere to be moved. The Bills can afford to trade him because they have depth at the wide receiver position and teams would be interested in him because the asking price is more than likely reasonable and he serves dual roles as a receiver and a return man. Chance of Trade: 55%. Now last but not least we move onto Julius Peppers. I would most probably file this under rumor with little to no potential for a deal. The Panthers are a very conservative team so it is very unlikely they would move him plus any team that would meet Carolina's trade demands which would be a king's ransom would also more than likely have to give Peppers is enormous pay day since his current contract is the 1 year franchise tag. Would you trade away so much of your teams valuable resources for 1 year. If you are the Raiders sure. Just joking but seriously no you would not do that so you would have to give him a contract extension which would he would want to rival the deal Albert Haynesworth got for the Washington Redskins (7 Years-100 million dollars). So if you add in all of those factors his chance for a trade in my opinion would be 5%. I hope this article helps inform fans of what may happen at the trade deadline this year and I will report if any deals are made so stay tuned. The trade deadline is Week 6 of the NFL Season.

NFL Week 5 Recap

Game 1: The Cleveland Browns faced off against the Buffalo Bills in a offensive struggle. First I will start with the Perks. Perks are special abilities for multiplayer. There are only 3 perk slots available to you and each slot consists of different types of perks, so choosing the right ones for your class is crucial. Modern Warfare 2 features new perks and retains some older ones from Call of Duty 4. Each one can now be upgraded to a "Pro" version, by completing its challenge. Pro perks don't always make them stronger, instead it might add a new feature or a side effect, for example: Marathon Pro allows you to get over obstacles faster. I will only list the confirmed Perks. Perks will be in bold for easier viewing and weapons will be italicized. Perks: Marathon/Marathon Pro (Unlimited sprint-Pro Ability: Get over obstacles faster), Sleight of Hand/Sleight of Hand Pro (Faster reloading-Pro Ability: Faster reloading and a speed boost to how fast you can aim down the sight of your weapon), Scavenger/Scavenger Pro (Full resupply from dead enemies-Pro Ability: Unknown), Bling/Bling Pro (2 primary weapon attachments-Pro Ability: Unknown), Stopping Power/Stopping Power Pro (Increased bullet damage-Pro Ability: Increased bullet damage vs helicopters), Lightweight/Lightweight Pro (Move faster-Pro Ability: Unknown), Hardline/Hardline Pro (Kill streaks require 1 less kill-Pro Ability: Death Streaks require 1 less death), Cold-Blooded/Cold-Blooded Pro (Undetectable by UAV, air support, sentries, and thermal-Pro Ability: Unknown), Commando/Commando Pro (Increased melee distance-Pro Ability: Unknown), Steady Aim/Steady Aim Pro (Increased hip fire accuracy-Pro Ability: Unknown),and Scrambler/Scrambler Pro (Scrambles/jams the enemy radar in a small radius-Pro Ability: Unknown). Now it is time for the list of weapons you will be able to use in the multiplayer. AK-103 (or some other modernized AK-47 variant, definite, seen with either red dot sight or ACOG), AUG (definite, seen with scope), Desert Eagle (definite, seen with a laser and/or flashlight attachment), Dragunov (definite, seen with sniper scope), F2000 (definite, seen with an under slung shotgun), FAMAS (definite, seen with red dot sight), UMP (definite, seen with red dot sight), Glock 22 (or some other Glock variant, definite), KRISS Super V Vector SMG (definite, seen with no attachment and possibly seen with suppressor), M4 (or some other AR-15 variant with a sliding stock, definite, seen with just a suppressor in one part, ACOG and Grenade Launcher together in another), M16 (or some other AR-15 variant with a solid stock, seen on cover art, highly probable, seen with a red dot sight), RPD (definite), M21 (highly probable, seen with sniper scope), M1014 (highly probable), M1911 (definite), M249 SAW (definite), Shield (definite, will be a Perk in multiplayer), Skorpion vz. 61 (definite, seen with red dot, can be used while using shield), Protecta Striker (definite), Knife (definite, will be used differently than in CoD4), and Remington 870 (or a very similar shotgun, definite). Now it is time to discuss the kill streaks and they have made lots of improvements and have brought some back from the first Modern Warfare. For this part of the multiplayer I thought it would be easier to give you a link a video on Youtube which will go over the kill streaks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBJcOy6iuUc. Well that is all of the information I can provide at this point. I would say from all the weapons, kill streaks, perks, and much more this game will easily be the best Call Of Duty ever made. Modern Warfare 2 is projected to be the highest selling video game of All Time. I am also going to give you a links to multiplayer game play that you can check out on Youtube plus i will have one video on this page for everyone's enjoyment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMYgkbQgCIk

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7ErPYQI5bU

Carolina Panthers Get First Win Of The Season

The Carolina Panthers get there first win of the season against the Washington Redskins. It was not the prettiest victory but a win is a win and you will take them any way they come. Carolina started slow, DeAngelo Williams fumbled the ball on the opening drive and the Redskins promptly moved the ball and scored a touchdown. The Panthers recorded a safety in the second quarter which change the moment of the game and set in motion there comeback. Jake Delhomme had a pedestrian game passing 16 for 25, 181 yards, 1 touchdown, and a INT. Delhomme Said after the game "Anything that could have gone wrong the first month or so has gone wrong, We'll take it any way we can get it". Jonathon Stewart and Steve Smith scored the deciding points. Stewart had the rushing touchdown and Smith had a two point conversion in the fourth quarter with 9 minutes and 21 seconds left to play. The much improved defense held the Redskins in check. The Defense had 5 sacks and held Clinton Portis to 57 yards rushing. It was important for the Panthers to come out of the bye week strong and they have done just that and may start building momentum to turn around there slow start to the season. The next game on the schedule will be against NFC South Rival the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 1PM ET on Fox. When these two teams play it is always a hard hitting intense game so it will be a must watch. Check back in for injuries and updates during the week.

There Is A New Revolution In Gaming: Motion Control Technology

Currently in the video game industry there has been a lot of development with motion controls. When the Nintendo Wii came out it started the revolution and now it is forcing its competitors to follow suit. Sony has been in development with its new motion controller code named Sphere. It consists of a handheld wand and the Playstation Eye which tracks the wand's position, and inertial sensors to detect its motion. The simplicity of the Sphere-based distance calculation allows the controller to operate with minimal processing lag, as opposed to other camera based control techniques on the PlayStation 3. As with the standard PlayStation 3 controllers, the motion controller will use Bluetooth 2.0 wireless radio communication, and a rechargeable internal battery. They have been saying it will offer true 1:1 movement which means it will represent your motion exactly. They have done some presentations at gaming conventions but have only let Sony employees use the new controller. It leaves open the possibility that it may not be as good as they say it is and it has been a bunch of smoke and mirrors. I will not prejudge or jump to hasty asessments and hope no one else will. I will say from what i have seen so far it looks very impressive. Now lets move on to Microsoft's new controller free motion technology code named Project Natal. Project Natal enables users to control and interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller through a natural user interface using gestures, spoken commands, or presented objects and images. The project is aimed at broadening the Xbox 360's audience beyond its typically hardcore base. They have had multiple demo games to show off the capabilities of this new hardware. One of the games is called Ricochet. Pretty much you stand infront of the screen smacking and diving at objects coming at you. They even had Natal on the Late Night Show with Jimmy Fallon. It looked like there was minor lag but that's not bad considering it is still in the early stages of development and it still was very responsive. If a new player walks up into the cameras view it will be able to recognize the new person and change there avatar accordingly. Now last but not least we will move on to the Wii. Some may say why talk about the Wii it is already out? Well they have come out with a new improvement to there motion controller called Wii Motion Plus. It is basically a attachment you can hook up to the current Wii Remote and you are ready to roll. Currently only the newer games support the new add on but it has enhanced to motion controller and made it more accurate. Now it is time for a recap and overall thoughts on the motion controllers. The Playstation's Sphere has tons of potential and looks like it could be the most accurate motion technology of them all. However it has only been used in controlled environments and we may find out down the road it is not as accurate as it has been touted to be. There has been little talk of games and as a downside you will have to purchase the Playstation Eye plus the Wand so it can be very costly. Now the verdict for Project Natal. It looks impressive as well has fun games lined up for it, and may have a great chance in delivering what it has been selling people. The problems I see with it is there was some slowdown. Fortunatly that can be corrected before its release. The price is unknown and is expected to be very steep. That is a major concern which could derail any chance it has for being successful. Once again we are back to the Wii. The Wii Motion Plus has increased the accuracy of the Wii remote and one thing it can say that none of the other competitors can is you can go buy it today. It costs $24.99 which is much less than the others will be by far, however the Wii has been notorious for there numerious accessories. It seems like every game you buy you have to buy a new attachment to play it which will add up over time. So which one is the best way to go? That answer will change from person to person. In the end it may come down to game selection, pricing, all of the above and many other reasons. In the end pick the one that best fits you. Gaming today has come a long way and in the end which ever game system you support or own we all win with the advancement of all these new ideas. He went 27 of 49 for 389 yards and a touchdown pass in a victory over Baylor(OU 33-BU 7). Bradford returned from a shoulder injury which he suffered opening day against Brigham Young. His 49 throws was the second most of his career. If u had any doubt about his shoulder holding up that was put to rest with his performance. While Bradford was injured the Sooner's did well without the Heisman Trophy winner defeating Idaho State (64-0) and Tulsa (45-0). Following those games Oklahoma fell victim to a good Miami team and were defeated 21-20. Oklahoma has a true test coming up this weekend against Texas (#3 in the AP Poll #2 in the Coaches Poll). That is a showdown I am very excited to see as two of best quarterbacks in all of college football face off in Sam Bradford and Colt McCoy. Who will come out victorious in this sure to be high scoring game? Will Sam Bradford be able to take the momentum he built against a unranked Baylor team and continue it against a tough Texas team? Tune in Saturday 12PM ET on ABC to find out.

Crabtree Holdout Ends Signs With 49er's

Michael Crabtree inked a six year contract with the 49er's after holdout out four weeks into the NFL season. According to sources, Crabtree's contract is for six years and 32 million that could maximize to 40 million if he achieves every incentive in the deal. The guarantee in the contract is 17 million, but he is expected to make 19 million over the first three years and 23 million over the first four years. The five-year deal is worth $28 million. Crabtree held out because he felt his initial offer was not enough. He was expected to be drafted around the top five and ended up being the tenth overall pick in aprils draft. He was not the first wide receiver taken. That honor went to Darrious Heyward-Bey who went seventh overall. In the end he and the 49er's found common ground and a deal was done. Crabtree is months behind his teammates missing team activities and all preseason games. Can he become a factor for the 49er's this year? Only time will tell. The 49er's have been desperate for help at wide receiver this year as they rank near the bottom of the league in receiving categories. The team is hoping he can be the catalyst to take the team to the next level. Stay tuned for a update on his progress as the season progresses.

Carolina Panthers Season Update

Currently the Carolina Panthers are 0-3 heading into there upcoming game against the Washington Redskins. The season has started badly and most Carolina fans are frustrated. Who is to blame for such a slow start? The most popular person to blame is Jake Delhomme and while he has been responsible for 7 INT's and only 2 TD's this year he shouldn't be the scapegoat for the teams lackluster performance. Julius Peppers is the Panthers 17 million dollar man and what has he given in return for his lucrative contract? 1 sack. The man is being paid 1 millions dollars a game and that is the effort he has given the team. Peppers has not been the only problem. The team has suffered multiple injury's to key players. Chris Harris has been hampered by a knee injury. Maake Kemoeatu suffered a torn Achilles tendon in the early minutes of training camp. The Panthers traded for Louis Leonard in a attempt to try and patch the D line and he went down with a broken left ankle in his first start for the team. The potent running attack which ran for 2,437 rushing yards as a team has been held to 71 rushing yards per game. The Panthers defense has struggled to pick up Ron Meek's style of defense possible due to the teams lack of proper person to run his scheme, to poor tackling and a host of other issues. In the end I am not 'excusing Jake Delhomme's poor play because it has been appalling but at the same time the backlash from fans can go too far. The Panthers have a opportunity this Sunday against the 2-2 Washington Redskins to get there first win of the season and possibly gain some momentum for turning around there season before things get any more out of control.
